Hiii, I'm just getting into all the Larry lore and I'm a little confused on how Golden and Defenceless fit together? Because I feel like the songs both talk about being more open than the other person.

Hi, anon! I haven’t quite thought about the parallels of these two songs specifically but uhh it sounds interesting! It’s so crazy the way we have crazy overlapping themes when it comes to them, there’s so much about this overwhelming adoration and the back and forth between opening up to each other and understanding each other’s limitations and timing about that, which seems to be a struggle for them.

With that being said, IMO I don’t think Golden talks about “being open” the same way Defenceless discuss it. I do see parallels between the two songs, but when we’re talking about Defenceless, If I Could Fly, Satellite, Walls… I think these songs are mostly about opening up to each other, to go through whatever problems they have, to be available to each other emotionally. While in Golden, nothing indicates that this is any sort of communication issue, I think Harry is talking about being open to other people and being scared and holding back on that.
