Recently I've been watching the 2004 SpongeBob SquarePants movie on repeat and I'm pretty sure my childhood crush just became my fictional crush... again.
I swear for the amount of Dennis simps there are on this app, we all could probably fit on one short bus, I'm still new to writing fics but I hope this will get to the right audience. Enjoy!

The excitement that Y/N was meet with from the children she was in charge of baby sitting for the weekend when she stepped through the front door was nothing new, those children seemed to have a never ending supply of energy that she nearly struggled to keep up with somedays.
At the beginning of taking care of Michael, age 10, and Olivia, age 7, their parents had informed Y/N of the children's love for the ocean. The constant trips to the beach was clear in the backseat of her car. That being mostly sand and toys perfect for the beach that were kept in a tote in the trunk, there was only one time that Micheal decided to try to take a starfish home and forgot about it on the seat.
Thankfully the poor thing was found before it died, it had been quickly returned to the ocean.
So when Y/n stepped into the nice beach house themed living room it seemed like a jab at her side when she spotted the fish tank that had been set up beside the couch, the filter system letting out a small hum.
"Great... that's just encouraging them to bring things home" Y/n could only sigh as she sat on the plush sofa, Micheal and Olivia didn't even glance away from the fish tank as they were sitting right in front of it.
While she was planning to get comfortable and watch the television with the children Y/n couldn't help but get up and walk over to stand behind the children. Curiosity struck her when there wasn't a single fish in the tank.
"What are you kiddos looking at?" Y/n tilted her head as she looked from the tank to Micheal and Olivia.
"Mikey caught a cowboy!" Olivia's sweet voice piped up first, yet she didn't look away from the tank.
"A... cowboy?" Y/n raised her eyebrow at that, she slowly bent forward to be eye level with the tank, more confused than she was before.
"Yeah! I found a little green cowboy man stuck in a tidepool!"Micheal spoke, he actually looked away from the tank to look up at Y/n for a moment before going back to staring at the tank.
"He's hiding in there now" Michael put his finger on the glass, pointing to the fake pineapple hide that they probably had gotten from the nearest pet store with the rest of there things for this tank.
"You guys don't have any fish? Just a 'cowboy'?" Y/n nearly let a groan slip out, last time she let that happen she nearly got fired because Micheal is the cry baby out of the two and damn near anything will set him off.
"Yup! Though I think he's shy, he won't come out!" Michael whined as he tapped on the glass with his smaller fingers.
"Alright kiddos, maybe we should give this cowboy a bit of space. Soon he'll come out" Y/n encouraged, wanting the children to take a break from staring at the tank for god knows how long.
What Michael caught was probably some old toy another child had dropped at the beach. It hasn't been the first time Micheal has done this, later when Y/n sends the children to bed she'll check.
For now, there were about five more hours until it was time for bed. Five more hours of trying to have the children burn off all of the crazy amounts of energy they seem to have.
The go to for doing just that was the good old reliable 'Just Dance', the kids loved it and it tired them out. Making the job easier in all reality.
Standing at the fridge, Y/n checked the freezer, seeing what would be easy to make for dinner to feed the children while there parents were out for the night.
There was a slight nagging feeling that she struggled to ignore, whatever was in that damn tank couldn't be alive could it? That would be impossible when it came to Micheal, if it had squirmed even a little Micheal would've dropped it.
All she could do is sigh as she pulled out the bag of popcorn chicken, later tonight it would be like a mission to see what was truly in the tank.

(Visual for the size of the tank!)
"Bed. Now Michael" Y/n couldn't believe she was arguing with a ten year old over a fish tank.
"But I wanna see the cowboy!" Micheal cried, throwing another tantrum, it was a daily struggle with this child and it didn't help a bit when mommy and daddy gave them everything they wanted and more.
"The cowboy is sleeping, just like you should be at the moment now go to bed" She pointed to the door that was clearly Micheal's bedroom as his name was painted on the door in a sky blue color.
"No! I wanna see the cowboy!" Micheal continued to cry as he threw himself to the floor screaming, at least Olivia was already in bed, waiting to be tucked in for the night.
"Lord help me now" Y/n groaned before reaching down and scooping up the screaming, crying Micheal. Carting the young boy off to his bedroom and right to his bed.
"You know, if you continue this behavior I have no choice but to revoke ice cream privileges for the rest of the month!" Y/n did overexaggerate her words, it was an empty threat but thank the gods that it worked. It was concerning how quickly the tears had stopped over that threat though.
It seemed Micheal couldn't get in his bed fast enough, tucking himself in and all.
"Goodnight, miss Y/n!" Micheal called as Y/n walked out of the bedroom, flicking off the light and nearly closing the door, leaving a small crack just how Micheal liked it.
She peaked her head into Olivia's bedroom that was right across the hallway from Micheal's bedroom, the sweet thing was already fast asleep, flicking off her bedroom light Y/n slowly closed Olivia's bedroom door before moving towards the kitchen.
"There is no way in hell I'm sticking my hand in that tank" She said to herself in a hushed manner as she carefully looked through the drawers for tongs.
"Here we go" She spoke to herself, as if to prepare for god knows what was in that tank, carefully taking off the screen lid she checked over her shoulder to make sure the children weren't awake before slowly sinking the tongs into the salty water.
Grabbing the fake pineapple, it rattled like something was in it, something alive. Spooked by the rattle the tongs slipped and sunk completely to the bottom, landing in the sand.
"Great, just fucking great" Y/n couldn't help but hiss to herself before rolling up her sleeve and sticking her hand right into the tank, reaching to grab the fake pineapple with her hand.
"Ow! what the fuck was that?" Y/n cursed as she quickly withdraw her hand from the tank, looking at her hand, clear as day looked like a bigger paper cut right across her finger.
Her eyes widened as she looked from her hand to the tank... maybe for once those kids weren't lying as she saw a tiny hand slip back into the darkness inside the fake pineapple.
Question was... what was in it?
I hope you enjoyed this, if I should continue this please let me know in a comment!

Two full seasons of Hen and Karen trying their best to give that little girl a permanent home and keep her close to her brother (both of her brothers! because Denny counts!), and the payoff was a 15 second scene in a song montage in a season finale when we’ve barely even seen Mara or Denny in 8b. If you were going to write Hen and Karen struggling to add to their family across that many seasons (like were they not already agreed on trying IVF with a donor when the ladder truck exploded??? in season TWO???), the scene where they finally completed their family should’ve been paid much more attention and love than that single scene. It’s the same thing with Madney’s baby number two birth scene. Maddie, Chim, and Jee have suffered so much over this season (and since season 2 as well!!) trying to be together and heal as a family. You can’t just shove these adorable children and additions to the 118 family in our faces in 15 second scenes and expect it to feel fulfilling. If you want to have big emergencies in multiple episodes, get better at pacing so that you can show the family moments that you should know by now are the real aspect of the show that makes fans stay. The big emergencies can still be the draw without overwhelming the script and character arcs. These aren’t fulfilled storylines when you wrap things up quickly at the end of the finale’s big emergency because the time after the final commercial is not enough to give the whole firefam their rightful screen time.

Middle years Chester becoming a sleuth who specializes in looking after widows, children, and families down in their luck is one of my favorite things.
He becomes an advocate for the impoverished, something he reports he didn't have in his youth. Chester's justice is rarely about punishment, always about making right by the victims and the people left behind. It's a unique take, his restorative justice, whereas Matt certainly defers more to punitive thought.

Proposing my rare pair to you all… Talilhy. I have so many thoughts about them.
They’re both highly intelligent women who were raised in these strange “secret societies” (the League, the Order), denied power and wronged by the men who posses it. I think they’d have so much to show each other, to experience together, especially considering Lilhy’s lack of socialization. It’d also be interesting to see Talia with another woman because that would be the first relationship she really has agency over, no concerns about an heir, or Lilhy’s strength, no ties to Ra’s. Talia extends to Lilhy a sort of kindness and freedom in unapologetically embracing womanhood that she had never experienced before while in the Order. And Lilhy, due to her inexperience, would not see Talia from a lustful perspective the way previous partners had (hello Bane). She would fall for Talia because of her intellect, her compassion towards Lilhy, her strength and competence. She would fall for her reluctantly, having never explored the idea of same sex romance or romance to begin with, and Lilhy’s relationships in canon are.. oddly written to begin with.
ALSO… thinking about Talia as the head of the League after Ra’s and Lilhy as the head of the order working together. Think about how formidable they could be, especially combining Lilhy’s knowledge of St. Dumas’ sciences/alchemy with the League’s prowess and the lazarus pits. AND… imagine, if you will, Azrael being inducted into the league. I think it would be very interesting to have Jean Paul due to his ties to both Lilhy and Talia, but even having Faux-Azrael or making the leagues assassins into Azraels would be so interesting… Also! If I recall correctly, Ra’s says the League and the Order of St. Dumas used to be allies but stopped working together.. Talilhy would be rebuilding that relationship and expanding on it in ways Ra’s and Brother Rollo never would.

May 1971. Neal Adams cover for the first appearance of Talia, today called (deplorably) Talia al Ghul. (Adams did not do the interior art for the cover story, which is by Bob Brown and Dick Giordano.)
With all the — entirely justified — criticism of how Talia has been handled over the past decade, one may wonder if there was some prelapsarian nonracist early version of this character. Nope! Talia, like her father, is a character for whom a troubling degree of Orientalist racism is a load-bearing conceptual element. In her initial appearance she is, by O'Neil's own later admission, just a plot device, a helpless damsel in distress; her relationship to Ra's al Ghul (who had not yet appeared) was apparently added to the dialogue at the last minute, after this issue was mostly finished. In her second appearance in BATMAN #232 (June 1971), this time drawn by Adams, Talia is "promoted" to exotic eye candy, an Orientalist caricature without a single word of dialogue. By her third appearance three months later (in BATMAN #235), she's emerged as a femme fatale of ambiguous motives, an obvious pastiche of Sax Rohmer's Fah Lo Suee, the daughter of Fu Manchu.
Both Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams tended to bristle at the suggestion that Ra's al Ghul has any relationship to Fu Manchu, but the similarities are hard to miss, and Talia is one of those. Fah Lo Suee, first seen in THE HAND OF FU MANCHU in 1917, was at times her father's dutiful servant; at times his rival; and occasionally his enemy, since she could be swayed by the charms of one or the other of his white opponents. She herself was Eurasian, and her moral conflict was unambiguously racialized: Her choice was to succumb to the evil, Asian side of her nature (through allegiance to her father and/or his pan-Oriental secret society), or embrace good and whiteness (in her case, through romance with a heroic white man). You may notice that this also summarizes the basic tension of Talia's roles in the Batman mythos, and not just recently! In a 1984 interview, O'Neil described Talia as "tainted with evil" because of her father, and the degree to which she's ever been portrayed as good or heroic has always been directly tied to her willingness to reject her father in favor of Bruce and whiteness. Save for a throwaway line in this issue about her studying medicine at the University of Cairo (swiftly forgotten even by O'Neil), her role in the stories has never allowed for even the possibility of any third alternative.
To be sure, some of Talia's appearances are more offensive than others, but the point is that she, like Fah Lo Suee, is a character who is fundamentally shaped by Orientalism and ideas of white supremacy, which don't disappear even if one tinkers with the details (e.g., by making both Ra's and Talia white, as the Nolan movies did). That in turn has fundamentally shaped the way Talia is characterized with regard to her son, to whom Talia's racialized moral conflict has essentially been transferred.
