Resisting Mass Deportation: What Can You Do?
One of the scariest things we're facing under the next presidential administration is the threatened mass deportation of immigrants. For many of us, it's hard to imagine what we could possibly do to fight back against the disruption of our communities and our neighbors' lives.
Luckily, there are organizations and community groups that have been fighting back for years -- and winning -- and they're ready to teach us how to help.
Mijente, a digital organizing hub for the Latinx community, is running a series of trainings on zoom entitled Deportation Defense: Skill Up + Crew Up. The trainings will be December 10th, 13th and 16th from 7:30-9pm ET, and they are free! You can register here.
Make the Road New York, an immigrant rights advocacy organization, has put together a Deportation Defense Manual to provide information, resources and a guide to create a plan of action to protect targeted communities. (Some of the information is specific to New York, but much of it is applicable in every state.)
If you're interested in learning more about these kinds of resources and opportunities, please follow the soon-to-be-rebooted @fthaction. FTHAction is going to be dedicated to helping you get involved and take action in concrete, hands-on ways. We're not ready to spill the beans on all of our plans yet, but they include:
101-level resources about mutual aid, political organizing, and getting involved in community groups
guides and directories to help you find local organizations to work with
personal activism stories from other fans
regular updates about trainings, workshops and other opportunities to learn from and connect with seasoned organizers
Once FTHAction is up and running, we will mostly keep the two blogs separate (though we'll reblog the first few FTHA posts to this blog.) But if you already know you're going to be interested in @fthaction, now is a great time to follow!

RiverClan Refugees
Gorseclaw and Lizardtail want to join ThunderClan because they watched Harelight, their only other family, get publicly executed in front of them
They are trying their hardest to be useful and polite while being refugees in ThunderClan, and get mistreated for the effort-- having their food preferences mocked, getting told they're taking up space, hearing a steady stream of slurs, etc
After one more mass shaming session where Squirrelstar asserts they won't be accepting new cats, Sunbeam and Fernstripe join in on condescending them, and we get this;
Tumblr media
"It would have felt bad turning them away, but if they chose to go home (AFTER BEING BULLIED FOR SEVERAL CHAPTERS) then there was no need to feel guilty"
This does not come across as these two earnestly missing home and choosing to go back; it comes across like they're accepting the fact that they are unwanted and getting out of dodge before it gets worse.
Honestly, I'm at the point where I can't call this a lack of self awareness. The difference between ThunderClan's treatment of Gorse and Lizard vs RiverClan's treatment of Wasp is obvious to me. The narrative is straightforwardly pro-xenophobic as long as it isn't overtly violent.
Social bigotry is fine. Good, even, to separate the "desirable" immigrants from the "undesirable" ones. What defines those categories? A good one will assimilate fully and leave their culture behind; a bad one only wants safety and a better life for their family.
Terrifying, imo, considering how the irl overton window has shifted on migration at the time of writing this in 2025. Does the spectre of the times loom over these words as I speak them? I hope not.

When is Enough, Enough?
I normally don’t get political on social media because it’s just asking for an all-out war between people who can’t even see past their own biases. But honestly? I can’t stay quiet anymore. I’m pissed. I’m beyond pissed. This administration, in just two months, has done more damage than I thought humanly possible. It’s like they’re on a mission to dismantle everything that made America remotely decent. It’s not just mistakes—they’re actively tearing down people’s lives, and it’s disgusting.
They’ve made brutal cuts to essential departments, slashed jobs left and right, and appointed a bunch of unqualified, power-hungry, incompetent idiots to lead the most critical aspects of our government. It’s like they went out of their way to find the most clueless misfits possible and handed them the keys to the country. And then they have the audacity to bring in a non-elected puppet to do whatever the hell he wants. How is this even legal? Who approved this circus of corruption and chaos?
And don't get me started on the tariff wars—with CANADA and MEXICO, of all countries! OUR ALLIES! The very countries we’ve always worked with and traded with, and now this administration thinks it’s a great idea to piss them off and start a fight? Brilliant. Just brilliant. They’re making enemies out of friends while cozying up to dictators and lunatics who couldn’t care less about us.
Oh, and now they want to take over the Gaza Strip? Annex Greenland and CANADA? Are they out of their damn minds? What the actual hell are they thinking? Do they think it’s some kind of imperial game where they can just lay claim to whatever the hell they want? What’s next? Declaring the moon as the 52nd state? This isn’t leadership—it’s lunacy.
And meanwhile, back home, legal immigrants—PEOPLE who came here the right way—are being thrown into what amounts to concentration camps at our southern border. They’re ripping families apart and shoving people into overcrowded, inhumane conditions while smugly claiming they’re “protecting the nation.” Protecting it from what? People looking for a better life?
The cost of living is still a nightmare. Remember all those promises to make groceries more affordable? Eggs are still insanely priced. Gas is through the roof. Nothing has improved, and they’re acting like it’s a victory parade. And to top it all off, they’re ignoring a MASSIVE security breach involving Signal texts that could be a national security disaster. No one is stepping up to address it. They’re too busy lining their pockets and power-tripping to give a damn.
And the press secretary? An absolute trainwreck. The most condescending, vile, and arrogant spokesperson I’ve ever seen. She treats journalists and the American people like garbage, and yet somehow, she’s still there, holding that position like it’s her birthright. Every time she opens her mouth, it’s just more lies and twisted narratives. It’s exhausting.
I genuinely don’t know how MAGA supporters can look at this mess and feel pride. I don’t know how they can stand by this madness while real, hardworking Americans are losing jobs, losing hope, losing everything they worked for. I watch videos of people breaking down because they can’t afford to put food on the table, and it breaks my heart. It makes me so damn angry because none of this had to happen. This administration isn’t fixing anything—they’re wrecking it all and pretending it’s progress.
I used to have hope. I used to think my vote meant something. I voted for Obama because he inspired me. I voted for Bernie because he gave me hope for change. I voted for Hillary because I didn’t want to see America go down this path. I voted for Biden because I thought he could stabilize things. I even voted for Harris, hoping for progress. But now? It feels like none of it mattered. It feels like this was rigged from the start, and we’re just puppets in someone else’s twisted show.
Elon Musk practically bought this administration for his own personal gain. That’s why he’s got this orange puppet wrapped around his finger, doing whatever the hell he wants. We’ve got 46 more months of this nightmare, and it feels like an eternity. We’re just watching America burn while the ones responsible throw gasoline on the flames.
And where are the Democrats? Where are the leaders who are supposed to fight back? Why isn’t anyone stepping up and speaking out with passion and purpose? Why aren’t they rallying people, pushing back with real force? Are they too scared, or do they just not care anymore? Because I’m not seeing any fire, any fight, any damn urgency from anyone who should be standing up for the people.
Every day, I wake up hoping to hear that someone finally did what needed to be done and took one for the team to eliminate the threat. Sometimes, I go back to sleep just hoping I’ll wake up to good news—news that maybe someone finally stopped this madness. Because at this point, it feels like nobody is going to save us.
I’m tired. I’m angry. I’m losing hope. The America I believed in is slipping away, and it’s being replaced by this cruel, corrupt machine that doesn’t care about the people it’s supposed to serve. And I’m done pretending it’s okay. I don’t see myself voting anymore because it’s all so rigged and pointless.
America is a goddamn dumpster fire right now, and our allies are stepping back, watching us implode while the orange man keeps pushing for more power, more control, even talking about a third term. Martial law? Probably coming. And when it does, maybe people will finally wake the hell up and see what’s been right in front of them this whole time.
I’m just exhausted from feeling helpless while everything good about this country gets ripped apart. I don’t know how to keep caring when every day feels like another blow to our sanity and our souls.

Okay so we have this huge problem with forgetting about everything that’s happened by the time the next election rolls around so I’d like to keep a running list of things as they’re happening to help remind us when the 2026 midterms roll around. And please add to this if I’ve missed anything.
January 2025:
Donald Trump pardoned 1500 people who participated in the insurrection of January 6th, including those who violently assaulted and nearly killed police officers.
Donald Trump has declared that trans and non-binary people don’t exist.
Donald Trump is working towards firing everyone in the government who isn’t loyal to him.
Donald Trump has effectively fired everyone who he claims is an “illegal DEI hire” …whatever that means
Donald Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization
Congress are trying to pass the Laken Riley Act to, effectively, round up every immigrant in the country, including LEGAL immigrants
Donald Trump removed caps on prescription drug prices.
Donald Trump wants to withhold federal aid to help combat the LA wildfires and help the thousands of people who have been displaced and lost their homes.
The Department of Justice has put a hold on all civil rights cases.
Donald Trump has cut off aid to Ukraine.
Laken Riley Act has been passed by Congress and is awaiting being signed into law by the President. Here’s the breakdown of the votes: House Senate
Donald Trump purged a dozen inspectors general from the federal government and intends to replace them all with people loyal to him.
Pete Hegseth has been confirmed as Secretary of Defense. Here’s the breakdown of how the Senate voted. Note, it was a 50-50 tie that JD Vance had to break.
Tumblr media
Donald Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Colombia after the Colombian government turned away two airplanes carrying migrants. Columbia has retaliated by imposing a 25% tariff of its own on US goods.
Donald Trump has also issued a travel ban for Colombian citizens and revoked visas from Colombian migrants coming to the US.
Donald Trump has now backed off the tariffs and other threats against Colombia. Note for future reference: this comes just hours after Trump made the threat in the first place and he and the Colombian president got into a big fight on social media.
Nearly 1,000 migrants were arrested mostly in Chicago on January 26th by ICE and ICE has been told to meet a quota of 75 migrant arrests every day.
Donald Trump rescinded an anti-discrimination executive order from Lyndon B. Johnson
Donald Trump signed an executive order banning trans people from serving in the military and also ordered that people who were discharged for refusing to get mandatory vaccines be reinstated.
Donald Trump has frozen all federal grants to institutions.
After pressure from state governments, activist groups, and the general public, the White House has rolled back some of the freezes on federal funding.
Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) has proposed a change to the 22nd Amendment to allow Donald Trump, specifically, to serve a third term.
Donald Trump is trying to fire all federal employees who don’t want to return to the office (work-from-home saves the federal government millions of taxpayer dollars in overhead). He also sent an email to federal employees saying that if they’re not loyal to him, they’ll be investigated.
Donald Trump has signed the Laken Riley Act into law.
Donald Trump has said he doesn’t think Palestinians should be allowed to return to Gaza but instead should be sent to Egypt and Jordan.
Native Americans have been targeted by ICE raids.
Donald Trump has ordered undocumented immigrants to be sent to Guantanamo Bay
Donald Trump signed an executive order to expand federal funding for school choice programs. [x]
Donald Trump signed an executive order saying that he will deport visa-holding students who protest against Israel. [x]
Donald Trump has blamed DEI for the plane crash that killed 67 people in Washington D. C. [x]
Donald Trump signed an executive order that schools should no longer teach about racism and discrimination. And that schools should only teach history that is “patriotic” [x]
Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna wants to add Donald Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore. [x]
Trump’s Department of Education has called book bans a hoax. [x]
The Department of Justice has barred certain news outlets from receiving information from the Pentagon. [x]
The Trump administration has fired multiple FBI officials who investigated the January 6th insurrection. [x]
February-May 2025
I’ll keep adding to this list as new things come up and, again, please feel free to add anything I’ve missed. I know that in this world of constant news it’s easy to forget, so let’s give our future selves a little help!
