Happy March! Hope you're all excited to welcome spring! Lowkey burned myself out last month from day job shenanigans and trying to do a lot of things, so my plan this month is to relax after releasing Froot Basket: Dark Chocolate's update. My birthday's this month anyway too, so I'm gonna take it easy haha.
Cover Model polls are up on social media now if you'd like to vote for next month. I'll drop the outfit/theme poll for patrons tomorrow to stagger posts a bit.

March OC Birthdays
Kiki's birthday is on March 15! But I'll be releasing FBDC that day and she's already the Cover Model, so we're already celebrating her this month.
VN Development Update | FBDC Voiced Update Releases this month!
Other than partial voice-acting, it'll have some new CGs for you to collect! I hope you'll enjoy it! On release day I'll also publish a changelog.

Other Goals this Month
Wrapping up a zine project and still working on commissions, but I'd like to relax. Chill. Catch up on some manga or tv shows or something. Maybe finally finish Baldur's Gate 3.
I'll drop some "Kaimanga" stuff I've been working on. I'm considering developing Fleeting and drawing the Kaimana comic at the same time since both projects are related to each other... In any case, it'll be a fun space adventure!
Next Month
I'll pick up development on Froot Basket White next month. Froot Basket White is the third and final chapter in Momo's story. It takes place after Froot Basket Valentine and players will assume the role of Jordan once again. I had worked on some assets for it previously, but I'd like the script to be more solid before I start working on more assets again. Here's some of what I'd worked on before:
April 1st is Satoru's bday, but the Monthly will still drop on that date! We'll celebrate Satoru some time later.

Platformer Development Update
{Week 4} (Would be Week 3 but Cyclone Alfred had other plans...)
This week marked the first hands-on development sprint for Max Power, my 2D action-platformer centered around progression and upgrades. I focused on building out the game’s core mechanics and foundational systems using GDevelop.
What I Worked On:
Core Mechanics: Max now runs, jumps, and responds to gravity within the “Dungeon Arena.” Movement feels responsive and sets the stage for tight platforming.
Coin Pickup System: Coins increase a global PlayerCoins variable, designed for use in future upgrade scenes. Coins persist between sessions, laying groundwork for long-term progression.
Enemy AI: Basic enemies use simple AI to track Max’s horizontal position and move toward him continuously.
Health & Damage System: Max has 3 health points, a health bar UI, and now takes knockback on hit. An invincibility window prevents repeated damage spam. If health hits zero, a death animation plays and the game resets.
Custom Start & Instruction Scenes: Designed a stylized title screen with animated buttons that transition into gameplay or an instructions page. The instructions scene outlines controls and objective flow, helping onboard players clearly and quickly.
Challenges Faced:
Implementing Boolean checks for death states and damage cooldowns required a workaround using the health bar’s internal values.
Enemy damage initially stacked all at once—this was solved using event timers and invulnerability states.
Scenes Built: Start Menu, Instructions, and Dungeon Arena. Tools Used: GDevelop, Piskel, royalty-free assets.

Small devlog update
I���m new to coding so it’s taking some time, but I finally figured out how to put in an option to let you play as nonbinary. You can also enter your own pronouns! Hopefully it won’t break!

Oh jeez, with everything that went on last week I realized I forgot to post my weekly update. I hope you all are doing well and staying safe! For now, we are still on schedule to start our Kickstarter on 4/15/20. We will of course let you know if there are any changes.
This week I have been working on the draft for the kickstarter page. First, here’s the breakdown of how our funding will be spent:
As you can see, most of the initial funding will go to our voice acting. Our team will be funding out of pocket for any additional assets such as music and backgrounds. Our first stretch goal will allow us to free up more time to work on the game, including adding more content. However, I’ll talk more about that at the end of the week.
Mainly this week, I wanted to focus on creating and organizing the reward tiers. The best part about the solar system is that there is an abundance of possible characters! Our highest tiers will allow you to do everything from designing your own outer planet (with the help of our artists) to supervising the new Black Hole route!
Along with that we will have a variety of merchandise with each reward as well, both digital and physical.
Speaking of the Black Hole route, I figured I’d show off a preview of his sprite which I worked on last week.
Hope you like him! We’ll be giving more information about his character soon :D

Finally! An update from the Dev team!
Since summer has hit, we have been making progress! Coding has progressed, music is being collected and the game is nearing a stage where a part of it could be released... which, brings us to our first point.
While in production, the game was divided into 4 “Episodes”, which each consist of a main event. These episodes take place in chronological order, and at our current stage, we are about nearing completion for Episode 1, so it’s nowhere near full completion. So we've all been debating releasing it in parts, similar to an "Episode 1", "Episode 2", etc, format. While our original plan was to release it as a full game, we proposed this alternative in order to bring you guys parts of the game, quicker. Since you guys are going to be the players, we wanted to ask you guys for your opinions in relation to our release schedule. Please fill out this Google Form to vote for which option you would like better. The form contains more information regarding the two options as well, so we would greatly appreciate you guys checking it out!
And, on to our next point... Unsurprisingly, the Dev team is having trouble coming up with an apt title for our game! So, we decided that we would ask for some suggestions from you guys, who have been following us along the way! Please fill out this form to submit a game title to us! If chosen, we will credit you for the title.

Last month went by way too quickly and now Valentines' Day is just around the corner! Then I'll blink and be another year older... This month, I'll be focusing on adding the final touches of Froot Basket: Dark Chocolate and prepping for a White Day (March 15) release. February is a short month, so I know it'll fly by... but we've got a lot of fun stuff including two OC birthdays!

This month we're celebrating Sidney, Ken, and Maya's birthdays! Sidney is an adorable red head from my project After-Party Chemistry! Ken and Maya are fraternal twins. They're not associated with any one project right now... But I'll be dropping some fun illustrations and OC lore about them on their respective days for everyone!
VN Development | Froot Basket: Dark Chocolate Release
I'll be releasing Froot Basket: Dark Chocolate's voiced update for patrons this month! You can play before I drop it on Itch on March 15. Last month, I added a "recustomize Jordan" menu in case you want to swap between Jordan's voices or looks in-game. I also messed around with the Gallery and Achievements screen, but you'll have to see in the update.
Other than prepping for FBDC's Voiced Update Release, I have some marketing art for release to work on lol... I'm planning two different pieces: a new poster featuring all the characters and a piece which features the four different color combinations of Jordans. I don't expect to finish these this month because day job's looking pretty busy, BUT I'm hoping to at least get some sketches done.

I'll be wrapping up some zine pieces and commissions. :^)
Next Month
March 1st falls on a Friday so the Monthly and Polls will drop all on the same day. I can't wait to see who'll make my birth month's cover!

You can see the new scroll movement system I’ve added, allowing the player to manage their virtual workspace. You can also see in action a follow-up event from the first event, and how these events change variables used to determine future events to give the player.

Hubert posting time
I (Ulthar) want to get my app accepted into college before I get to work on the mod again only because it takes a lot outa me. Meaning Hubert is probably going to take forever to get done. But that’s fine, mods are supposed to be for fun Y’know?
Anyways for now, have some idea that have been in my brain.
- Hubert starts with positive scav relationships. Think the same as chieftain passage. He can pass by tolls without them becoming aggressive
- Hubert is actively encouraged to steal pearls from the scavs. For the stat boost, but this would probably be a bad idea because you’d have to make up so much to get them. Instead, scavs (in this campaign) will trade you pearls for spears, bombs, and all sorts of other things. You could actively feed them in return for pearls.
- I was thinking about having it to where Hubert actually didn’t have a good bar, or a noteable one. Basically as long as you have enough pearls inside of you, there’s no need to hunt for food. But this is probably a bit too OP so I’ll have to work around that :)
- This guy is a Carnivore. But can still eat herbivore stuff. He just prefers eating pearls
- there was a suggestion for making Hubert have fetch quests. While it’d be hard to implement it would also be very silly. The same thing with the “money rain” idea. Although money rain is probably just gonna be reworked with the fact he has a business blast. So no need to make it rain.

Dev Updates — Back again
When will it stop being so darn cold??

We are back at things once more. It’s been a bad time in the past but the way forward is clearer now.
On the go, we’re working hard on getting ourselves bootstrapped again. We’re once again setting up ensembles, musicians, and the like. Our first two aims are simple:
1. Take the pain out of email management for groups.
2. Keep a record of who comes to your concerts so you can invite them next time.
These are two of the biggest things the amateur groups we sing in struggle with.
Stay warm, and keep listening for updates.
