Being disabled in public is crazy because I never know when people are gonna shove me in front of an audience and make me give an “inspirational speech” hoe please let me buy my fucking cheese and tomatoes in peace.

Im torn
And tbh I'm pretty sure I have no right to say this at all. But I can't get it out of my head
I love love love seeing AUs where Viktor is doing so pretty sport™
Something like Ice Skating or Ballet or Gymnastics.
It's beautiful I love it
But I find that to have these AUs people often have to remove Viktor's disabilities.
And I get it you want you see your favourite character happy and doing something that you love or maybe just strongly head canon them to do
But I just don't like the fact that you have to erase a part of his character to do it
As an able bodied person I have no right whatsoever to say shit but I just wanted to see what your guys opinions were.
Coz I just don't know if I'm being too righteous or not

Happy disability pride month everybody!! ❤️💛🤍💙💚
To those who might not know Jere has been very vocal about his experience with IBD more specifically ulcerative colitis that resulted in him getting a lifesaving surgery at 19 leaving him with his two surgical scars on his stomach. Here's a few links to articles if you want to know more (x) (x). I'd also like to link the podcast interview where I first learned about his experience (starts at 11.10) since it touched me hearing him open up about for it for what sounded like the first time after he himself brought it up in such an authentic manner.
Since learning about his disability around april-may I have felt an even stronger connection to him. Although I do not have IBD myself, I just find his honestly, vulnerability and authenticity so inspiring that I could not help not to love him and and so the real brainrot began
For this reason drawing him for disability pride has been on my mind almost as long so I hope you enjoy the outcome - stay strong everybody and you are amazing just as you are, with or without disabilities
With regards, your fellow autistic Kääryle (Käärijä fan) 💚

so at work we do these weekly virtual check ins with each other and we usually have a silly little question to talk about, like what’s your favorite smell? or what’s your favorite bad movie? stuff like that
every month tho one each member of the team gets to lead a check-in having to do with diversity/equity/inclusion, usually based on whatever “awareness” month it is.
i have march this year and it is disability awareness month.
anyone have any ideas on a cool discussion question or activity based on disability awareness i could do?
thanx 💜

You know what's bs? It's bs that I get called a saint by ppl just for treating my mentally and physically disabled husband like a fucking person. No I'm not "just so patient and kind" bc I understand my husband needs more help and patience than other ppl.
Not to mention how since my husband is so outwardly disabled no one acknowledges my mental and physical disabilities.
It's fucking baffeling to me

If you're ignorant enough to believe that traumatic experiences can't influence a person's sexuality, you're being queerphobic and ableist, and you're invalidating countless queer people whose identities have been shaped by traumatic experiences.

This, I'm hard of hearing not deaf but I still have to explain things like "No being louder doesn't help me understand all of the time" basic education on disabilities for children shouldn't fall on every disabled person a child meets.
I really think they need to start teaching kids in schools that most blind people can see a little bit, most deaf people can hear a little bit, and most wheelchair users can walk a little bit. And they are still disabled.

people with tooth decay aren't bad people. they aren't lazy either. neither are they unclean or irresponsible. tooth decay doesn't make you a bad person. you don't deserve mockery, judgement, or tooth pain for having any. the only thing people with tooth decay deserve is healthcare.
