so I wanted to articulate my thoughts with the whole system accountability thing and why headmate accountability works better for my system personally, but I'm experiencing art block so I'm bringing back 2011 to make a pmd sprite comic

Jade Shadows Thoughts
(NOTICE: I have edited this post after a few days and many lovely replies and tags giving me more insight and opinions, overall my view of this quest has gotten a lot more positive, thank you all <3) okaaayyyy I am utterly rattled rn lmao also made the mistake of looking at tumblr after doing the quest and as expected it seems to be a 50/50 of hating or loving it. so here are my personal thoughts, I am a little scared but talk seems to be civil thankfully. I can definitely agree on the sentiment that this quest needed more time, cause let's be honest the people hating this quest wouldn't be jumping to the things they're jumping to if Jade herself got more screen-time before the big drop, warframe's style has always been vague and never 100% straight-forward and I think that unfortunately hurt it a bit this time, as what they didn't show came off wrong to many people and while I sorta see why I disagree on some parts. I also feel like the quest kinda got a bit *too* hyped both by DE and the fanbase's theories, way too short, it deserved and needed to be a bit longer for it's special narrative. Jade kinda got a weird spot, both being the main focus alongside Stalker but also hardly explored. But let's be honest, most of the negativity is caused by this outside-circumstance alone. Now, what I absolutely disagree with is people insisting that DE was trying to say "bodily autonomy bad" or that Stalker didn't care about her and only the child, thing is I thought it was pretty fucking clear that she *wanted* the child in what little was shown and she was going to die no matter the outcome (thanks to the orokin to absolutely no one's surprise) and Stalker in his guilt for all she's done for him wanted to make sure that he at least kept this one promise to Her, cause She wanted it. she still had bodily autonomy in the fact She wanted this, she wanted the child no matter what. and she wanted stalker to protect her and the kid. And he did, like a true loving partner. DE has a long track record of being very autonomy-positive. A point they make time and time again is that ripping it away is *bad* and horrifying, the quest is a bittersweet tragedy, not a horror. Honestly there would be 0 issue if DE had given us a Jade-only quest before this one, I personally would've preferred it as well, she's cool as hell she deserves it. who knows maybe DE will see all of this and make prequel quests? we can only hope. I do not want to assume the worst of anyone or anything cause that's a miserable existence. Look I personally enjoyed the quest and get the feeling whoever wrote it did it out of some personal experience or sorrow, that's at least the vibe I got. It's a tragedy, but her choice was seen till the end, many women choose to still have a child despite knowing they won't make it, many also don't, that's why choice is important. and she did, she chose her child that she was having while likely forcibly infested and turned into a warframe. (also remember there are women on the team who likely looked at this.) there are some other iffy parts of the quest, (really should've been the drifter instead of the operator if they were gonna do that, but that's personal discomfort.) but overall I enjoyed it and open to explore the implications of a born-warframe-child and Stalker healing as they both grow together. These are my thoughts, and I can understand why people like or dislike this quest, but I think it's fine and just ended up in a very unfortunate spot due to outside circumstances beyond it's control. (sorry if any of this comes off as aggressive it is not my intention despite how riled I am by some folk online, I disagree with you but I do not hate you, I don't even know you.)

Thank you for reading my first ever text post about something I care about, not sure I'll be doing this again any time soon out of anxiety lol (Edit: and thanks to everyone responding to this post wonderfully, ya'll are great and have lessened my anxiety and have made me appreciate this quest more <3)

full offense but personally i think that if you start invoking real life tragedies as a gotcha in stupid fandom discourse that's a sign that you need to log off and re-evaluate your priorities

honestly done with doctor who after the trainwreck that was the the interstellar song contest. i became a casual fan back when the eleventh doctor had a chokehold on tumblr and even had fun self-shipping with mr. ring-a-ding, but just thinking about how this series tried to "both sides" a GENOCIDE makes me feel physically ill. i can't believe i was indirectly supporting this series by making fanart and fanfiction
anon, gently, i think that your response is...a little overblown, and i'm not sure why you've sent it to me 😅 i'm going to put my reply under the cut, whilst tapping the sign on my blog again, which requests that folks don't try to drag me into discourse. i've shared my thoughts on the episode, and that's all: i'm not interested in validating whether or not people decide to interact with a show.
as i explained in my longer post about The Interstellar Song Contest, i don't believe that the intent of the episode was to "both sides" a genocide. i think that the allegory was poorly handled, and i also think that they made a bold move by daring to make this episode at all, let alone slotting it right before the actual Eurovision Song Contest. after discussion with other fans, it's very possible that earlier versions of the script had a more sympathetic view towards Kid, or even a more obvious condemnation of the Company, but the script needed to be edited because they would never have allowed such an episode to air. i'm getting the sense that you're either on the young side, or very active in fandom discourse. i understand your outrage, but i encourage you not to think in such black-and-white terms. you must understand how silly it is to be getting your hackles raised now, when Doctor Who is a show funded by the BBC (which airs the Eurovision Song Contest), and Disney (where do i even begin?). from my perspective, the show made a clumsy, weird and deeply uncomfortable episode which attempts to create an allegory but wildly misses the mark. do i think that's better than making nothing at all? honestly, i'm not sure: but it has gotten people talking, and i don't think that's a bad thing. you can do what you like, but i have no idea what you ceasing to make fanart/fanfic or watching the show will do except make you feel a little more righteous. poor writing doesn't mean that someone is an advocate of genocide, and frankly i think this is a chronically online stance that discourages people from thinking critically about deeply traumatic, difficult topics. this attitude you have, to immediately discard anything that you perceive as having a 'wrong' view, is detrimental to literacy and to educating people. it's one i strongly encourage you try to get out of. this is an exhausting conversation, and the second the episode was over i knew this kind of discourse was going to pop up. one thing the episode did try (however unsuccessfully) to make clear is that jumping to rage is never the answer, and only serves to perpetuate the cycle of trauma and violence. making it about whether or not you should engage with a television show feels reductive and silly. i would recommend putting this energy towards reading up on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and supporting Palestine where you can.

People need to stop victimizing a grown white man who is living his best lavish life just cause he experienced tragedy in his life. So many people do and it doesn't turn them into assholes or justifies acting like one. He also feeds into this with the I need your blind support or I'm getting toxic vibes feel bad for me, but never acknowledes valid criticism, like you can dish it but can't take please.

not even just his fans - his friends, his peers (and dream’s) he should know better but it’s still clear why he doesn’t think he’s in the wrong
for years they used the minor card for everything and somehow didnt learn after they became adults. this would not be tolerated if it were anywhere else but theyve catered to chronically online teenagers for years of course they dont know anything about being actual decent human beings

So, some interesting news today: It looks like David is scheduled to appear on the forthcoming first season of The Assembly on ITV!
Tumblr media
As we know (and as this press release helpfully mentioned), Michael appeared on a pilot episode of The Assembly last year, and memorably mentioned David several times, particularly in talking about the GO 2 kiss and wanting to play the Master opposite David as the Doctor:

This is of course a wonderful opportunity for David to talk about his incredible career and life and projects he is excited to take part in and the things he is passionate about...but it's hard not to wonder if Michael's name will come up. Not just in questions, but in David's answers, which may be in response to entirely unrelated inquiries. It will certainly be interesting to see what happens...
