Y/n & Walker's First Date💖
Walker Scobell X Reader | Series | You Belong With Me🔱 Part 7
This is a series and there are many more before this story😁💙
You woke up at 7 am because you were so excited. It was Valentines Day and Walker was taking you out for your first date.
You got up and brushed your teeth. You couldn't get Walker out of your head. You were so excited.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
You went downstairs and ate some breakfast. You had chocolate chip waffles. When you hear the doorbell. You run to answer it and see Dior and Leena.
"Hi!" You say really excited and hug them
"Hey!" They reply in unison
When you get to your room they go to your closet as you sir on your bed.
"I think she should wear this but change to this when she gets there. What do you think?" Leena asked Dior
"Ooo! I love it!" Dior replied
Tumblr media
They packed a bag for you. They put the change of clothes and a few other things inside another bag so you wouldn't know where you were going.
You talked with them as they helped you with your hair, makeup and painted your nails.
"So are you excited?" Dior asked
"Let me put it this way. I woke up at 7 am." You replied
"Wow! You must be ecstatic!" Dior and Leena laughed
"Why would you wanna date my brother anyway? He's annoying and weird." Lenna asked with a laugh
"Yeah he is but he is also sweet and kind and loving. And he's so cute!" You gush
"Ewww" Leena replied
You laughed
"It's about time that you guys got together. Aryan and Charlie owe me 20 bucks each." Dior said
"How did you know we would kiss at the Grammys?" You asked
"Just a feeling I guess." Dior replied
"So does anyone else know? Like did the paparazzi see the kiss?" Leena asked
"I don't think so. It would be all over the magazines if they did" you replied
You talked with them for a while and then they finished.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Dior and Leena left and you sat on the couch waiting for Walker. When the doorbell rang you ran to answer it. It was Walker.
You jumped in his arms and he picked you up a little.
"You look beautiful" He said as he put you down
"Thank you!" You blushed
You grabbed your bag and left. He held your hand and led you to the car.
"So where are we going?" You asked REALLY excited
"Not gonna tell" he replied with a smile
You drove for around 30 minutes and we arrived. You couldn't believe you eyes. WALKER WAS TAKING YOU TO DISNEYLAND ON YOUR FIRST DATE!!! He turned to you and gave you a "I MADE A GOOD PICK" smile.
"You're taking me to Disneyland?!" You ask excitedly
"Yeah!" He smiled as he opened the door and helped you out.
"I remember you said your dream first date would be at Disneyland. So here we are." He said proud of himself
"I said that 2 years ago" You said shocked that he remembered
"Well...it was important to me." He blushed
-
You went to the bathroom and changed your clothes
Tumblr media
You went to Disneylnd first and planed to go to California Adventure later in the day.
"So where do you wanna go first?" Walker asked
"The Haunted Mansion!" You exclaimed excitedly
You had a lightning lane pass so the line wasn't that long.
"Do you really like this one?" Walker asked you
"Yeah! Especially during Christmas!" You reply
(BTW Walker has been holding your hand the whole time)
You walked in the stretching room and the voice started.
"OoooOoOo creepy" Walker said brushing his fingertips on the back of your neck
"Stop it" you scrunch your neck as he laughed
The two of you got to the front of the line.
"Come on down. Watch you step." The girl said
As I was passing by her to get on she whispered to me "Percy Jackson is amazing!"
"Oh! Thank you!" You tun around and say
"What was that about?" Walker asked you as you sat down
"She said Percy Jackson was amazing" You reply
"I'm glad she liked it" He replied with a smile
-
After that you went to Pirates of the Carribean ride.
"Yo ho yo ho a pirates like for me!" You and Walker sing together in line
When you get on the ride you get your own row
You can hear the screams ahead of you and you nuzzle into Walker. When you drop he covers you so you don't get hit by the water and you tuck your face into his neck.
"Did you get wet?" He asks you
"No" You look up at his with a smile staying in his arms
"Good" He says
When the ride ended you got up and looked at Walker
"Omg! YOU'RE SOAKED!" You exclaimed
"It's alright. I was a little hot before. I'm not now though" He reassured you with a laugh
His clothes were soaked in water and hair looked like he has been swimming.
-
You ride a couple more rides and you get a little hungry.
"Ooooo! Churros!" You point
Walker laughs and walks you over
"Can we get 3 churros?" Walker asked the cast member
"3?" You ask confused
"Well you love churros and you're hungry right?"
"Right!" You exclaim
You ate them as you walked over to California Adventure. You just finished the first church and you were about to eat the second.
"You wanna share?" You ask
"You don't have to do that" He replied
"No I want to. Here take a bite." You said holding the church up to his mouth. You took turns taking bite until it was gone.
You then went over to the Avengers campus and took pictures with the Avengers (including the girl who was your character).
"Do you wanna go on the Tower of Terror?" Walker asks (AKA: Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!)
"Ummm...I don't know I've never been on it. I've heard it's really scary." You say
"YOU'VE NEVER BEEN ON THE TOWER OF TERROR?!" He was shocked
"No. I've always been too scared." You say sheepishly
"Well how about we go on it and I'll protect you? But if you don't want to that's totally fine" He says smiling at you. Oh that smile
"Alright" you agree
-
You get to the front of the lane and get really scared. You squeeze Walker's hand and he pulls you close to him.
"You okay?" He asks
"Yeah" you reply
"You'll be okay. I'll be right there beside you" He reassures you
You get into your seat and buckle yourself in. Walker puts his arm over your shoulder and you lean into him. The ride was going when all of a sudden it just dropped. You screamed at the top of your lungs. It was deafening. Walker hugged you so tight. You knew you weren't going anywhere. When you got off you stumbled a little bit.
"Was it as bad as you thought it would be?" Walker asks
"It wasn't too bad. I'm so sorry for your ears. Are you okay?" You ask Walker with a giggle
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm glad you liked it more than you thought." He replied with a smile
-
You were back in Disneyland and the Mickey's Mix Magic was about to start. The voice started and you got excited. If someone told you last time you went there that the next time will be your first date with Walker Scobell you would've died. You and Walker were dancing and jumping to the music. You looked at him his eyes were so beautiful and his smile even more. You were so happy. Then out of nowhere you kissed him. He put his hands on your waist. You pulled back and he looked in your eyes "I love you" He said
"I love you too" You said with so much love in your eyes
-
You decided to eat dinner. The two of you decided on the Blue Bayou in the Pirates of the Caribbean building. It was very romantic. The two of you talked a lot.
"So why did you always want your first date to be here?" He asked
"I don't know. As long as I can remember I thought it would be so fun."
After you finish eating you walk to It's a Small World then see Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing in front of it.
"My princess" He bent at his waist holding his hand out to you
"My prince" You smile and take his hand
You were on the side of the walkway dancing to the slow music. You chest was against his and his hand was on your back. You were just swaying back and forth until he dipped you. Then you looked in his eyes and he kissed you again. It was magical. You loved him so much
-
After the two of you went on It's a Small World you walked over to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Even with the lightning lane the line was so long.
"My feet hurt" You complain
"I'm sorry. Do you want me to carry you?" He asked with sympathy in his eyes
You jump in his arms and wrap your arms and legs around him.
"Thank you" You kiss him on the cheek
He carried you through the whole line. You fell asleep sometime in the line. When you got in line to go into the interrogation rooms
"Well well well what do we have here" the Resistance officer said with attitude
"Is she dead?" She mocked
"No. She was tired" Walker replied with a laugh
"The force is weak with this one" They said as they walked away
Walker walked in the room and started waking you up
"Y/n?" He said moving your head so he could look at you
"Hmmm?" You mumble
"We're here now. You don't wanna miss the ride." He says in a soft voice
"But I'm tired" You reply
"I know y/n I'm sorry" He says moving the hair out of your face
He puts you down and you lean against him as he holds you up so you don't fall. You are still kinda asleep.
You woke up a little more by the time you got in the ride
-
The two of you walked over to Space Mountain. The line was pretty short because it was around midnight. You got off of the ride and Walker looked at you
"Your hair!" He said fixing it with his hand
"Thank you" You smiled at him
-
You walked out holding hands and got in the Uber. You fell asleep on Walker's shoulder almost immediately. Before you knew it you were back at your house.
"We're here y/n" Walker whispered
"Okay" You mumble
You got out of the car and he walked you to your door
"Today was more amazing that I could have ever imagined" You smile
"I'm glad you liked it" He replied sheepishly
"So you're my boyfriend now?" You ask
"I think so" He smiles
"Can I ask you a question?" He asks looking nervous
"Of course" you reassure him
"Are those songs on your album really about me?"
"Maybe" you give a smile that was saying who else?
He kisses you and you put your arms around his neck.
"Goodnight Walker" You say as you go inside
"Goodnight y/n" He finally let's go of your hand
You change into your pajamas and go on your phone

Favorite Disney Parks Attraction Showdown: Round 7/FINALS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Videos and propaganda under the cut!
Haunted Mansion: Disneyland, WDW Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland
Propaganda:
"The ride system was perfected by Bob Gurr, gay icon. Seriously, any Disney gays and Haunted Mansion gays, thank gay icon, Bob Gurr for giving us an iconic ride vehicle and system. The whole ride is iconic. It inspired modern day horror tropes, gives goth kids a cool ride to enjoy as they pretend not to enjoy their trip with family when they actually do, has that really interesting spider story in the ballroom scene, X Atencio giving us an iconic song, story, script, and voice acting in the Lemme Outta Here ghost and the break down spiel, THE FREAKING STRETCHING ROOM, THE WALLPAPER!!!!!! Hatbox Ghost being an urban legend, with his existence being argued and questioned for years until we finally got a blurry picture confirmation and him coming back years later, ICONIC! Madame Leota and Little Leota! The hitchhiking ghosts!!! GHOST HOST!!!! The freaking conveyor belt at the end of the attraction that you step off to and if your not careful, it's easy to almost fall, accidentally giving one last scare before you leave the ride and makes you realize how clumsy you are? Iconic. "
"This is a ride that I was absolutely terrified of when I was a little kid. I actually have photographic evidence of this (ask for it if you'd like). But, my goodness, this rough start only made me love it all the more as I grew up. This is such a fun and goofy ride despite the morbid theme and occasional eerie bits! It's a duality. The ghosts have such a personality and the Ghost Host is such a charming guide (and I find the fact that he abandons you to go join the swinging wake hilarious, especially because you wander into the attic with Constance when unguided). It's just such a well-crafted ride! There's so much to see and I never get tired of it. The Doombuggy itself is an ingenious way to move people through the ride with such a distinctive design. The Ghost Host raising and lowering the lap bar for you is neat (fun fact, The Phantom in Phantom Manor is a terrible host and doesn't do this for you, probably because he's too busy planning your death. Asshole.). The effects in the ride are so cool and hold up, especially the Pepper's Ghosts effect. The rooms are distinct and eccentric. The Grim Grinning Ghosts song is absolutely delightful, and it's such a nice touch that you can distinguish the vocals of different ghosts you see in the graveyard. I should also just give a shout-out to the soundtrack for the ride as a whole, which wonderfully warps the Grim Grinning Ghosts theme to match the scene you're in. The ride also does such a good job of plunging you straight into the experience with facade of the mansion (I adore the look of the conservatory) and the queue. The tombstones are so funny and I really appreciate the interactive elements they added in the exterior section. And then you get inside the mansion, hear the Ghost Host's narration, and get into the Stretching Room. How can I describe that room other than frightfully fun? So, why Walt Disney World instead of Disneyland? I prefer experiencing the changing portraits on the ride rather than in the queue. I love the library as the setting for the busts that watch you. The music room with the ghost you can only see in shadow playing a version of Grim Grinning Ghosts is captivating. And, my goodness, the staircase room takes my breath away and I love watching the ghostly footsteps on the stairs. It's even going to have the Hatbox Ghost soon (I am not weighing in on the discourse over the potential location for him).
"I love it. I love ghosties. I love the effects. I love women who murder their husbands. I love the jaunty tunes. I love having to stop for 4 minutes not even partway into the ride and having to watch the same things going on for ages. I love a good ghoul ride, man "
"Epic conveyer belt keeps the line moving (though that won't always stop the line from being long)."
youtube
Tower of Terror: WDW Hollywood Studios, Paris Walt Disney Studios Park, California Adventure (2004-2017), Tokyo DisneySea
Propaganda:
"you forget how scary it is until you watch the preshow. and then you forget how fun it is until you ride the ride. 10/10 would recommend went on it with my friends twice last time we went."
"WE LOVE HORROR MEDIA REPRESENTATION!!! ONLY PUSSIES TAKE THE STAIRS"
"This ride made me absolutely terrified of elevators for a bit. xD Anyway, the bellhop cast members are hilarious. The hotel that is covered in cobwebs and was clearly abandoned in a rush after a terrible event is so cool. The Rod Sterling Twilight Zone intro is iconic. The basement is an interesting setting for the final part of the queue. The generators, lights, and floor indicator malfunctioning helps build your anticipation. The friggin elevator moving into the hallway and into a new shaft when the electrical ghosts make their appearance and you enter the Twilight Zone is so impressive. The dropping and rising of the elevator is such fun and I love the randomized events they added. I have to say, though, that ventriloquist dummy in the unloading room still makes me uncomfortable."
"Who doesn't love a creepy dark drop narrated by the man, the myth, the legend Rod Serling himself?"

I just found a new Haunted Mansion trailer and buckle up folks cause I’m bout to SCREAM
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CONSTANCE HATCHAWAY MY BELOVED (and we see one of her wedding portraits up there in the attic!!!!!)
Tumblr media
THE DUELING GHOSTS!!!!!
Tumblr media
The shape of this chair is obviously meant to be a Doom Buggy and you cannot change my mind
Tumblr media
STRETCHING ROOM STRETCHING ROOM STRETCHING ROOM!!!!
Tumblr media
Hey I’m choosing to think that the mean-faced tree in the trailer is a callback to an older idea for the mansion: the trees along the descent from the attic to the graveyard were supposed to move their branches like they were reaching for you! The Disneyland mansion’s trees feature faces for this reason, but the effect never actually made it into the attraction. But given this is clearly based off Disneyland HM I think it’s fitting that they added it!
Tumblr media
GHOST HOST GHOST HOST!!! Of course he gets the “always room for one more” line. Considering the Ghost Host portrait features a face from a mold very similar to the Hatbox Ghost (and one of the Hitchhiking Ghosts!)
These are just a few of the details that made me scream in excitement. There are plenty of others still.

How I got into Haunted Mansion
Inspired by @all-things-ghostly 's post!
So, like most people, I've been to Disneyland as a child, and the Haunted Mansion was one of the rides. I do not remember most of the ride, but two memories made me say "Hey, do you remember this moment in the ride?" And these two moments were: 1. The Stretching Room
From memory, I remember seeing the stretching posts revealing the cause of deaths (well, Constance's darker side), and while I didn't remember the Ghost Host's dialogue, I remembered his laugh and his skeleton up on the ceiling. Strangely enough, I always thought the GH's skeleton was a bed sheet and not his body, thinking it was a ghost looking down on people and ready to scare you. (Maybe it's also because I remember the Soviet cartoon "Malish and Karlson" where Karslon dressed up as a ghost to scare some burglars stealing clothes)
For those who are curious (it's in Russian): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8XL0BZ5Ozs
2. Madame Leota Through the dark ride, I remember Madame Leota in her crystal ball. There is not much else about it, but I definitely remember her.
Now, another question I had, was I scared during the ride? I do not know, and neither do my parents. Maybe I assumed I was a little frightened of "Ghost Host's way" but also curious, maybe I said, "Look a ghost!" (I know I'm a strange kid lol)
Yeah, only two memories, I haven't been to Disneyland in so long tbh and I had plans to revisit (until Disney sent money to the country that is committing a crime against humanity..). But who's to say Youtube didn't help me refresh the memories.
I was at work, bored, and when the break came, I looked up the stretching room posters. But it was only a small start, and I even saw the HM 2023 poster at a movie theatre during my vacation in Maui and told my older sis about the stretching room.
Now, how I actually got into Haunted Mansion, was thanks to one of my besties @olainewashere, who got me into watching the Haunted Mansion 2023, and we both talked about the HM. Thank u Olaine for a new interest :3 I'll also continue watching the 2003 movie as well
And uhh, that's basically it! Hope you liked my small reading XD

There's substantial rumor that they're changing the haunted Mansion in Disneyland, removing the "There's always my way out" hanging corpse in the stretching room because people associate it with lynchings.
The rumor is it'll be swapped out with a flock of bats. Now if the line "There's always MY way out..." does that mean the ghost host is now a vampire?
Honestly, I'd love it if Disney decided to make their own versions of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, etc. The public domain monsters distinctly different from Universal's depictions. It would be a good way for Disney to strike back at Universal Studio's Dark Universe opening in 2025.

* English is not my first language I apologise
* Triggers: Fluff
Drake POV
This weekend was a special weekend, we both had finally some time off from work and wanted to spend some time together. So I planned a trip to Disneyland for us, surprising her a few days before we leave to Disneyland.
“Oh my god Drake…” she clasped her hands in front of her face as I told her what I was planning for us. “You like it?” She nodded and threw her arms around my shoulders, hugging me tightly. “Yes….i never been to Disneyland.” I snaked my arms around her waist and held her close to me as she started to kiss my neck. “You’re going to love it.” I said softly as I placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Thank you.” “No thank you darling.”
The days after were a bit chaotic and nerve wrecking for her, she needed to pack her bags and plan everything. “You want to go out shopping?” I asked her as she was packing her suitcase. “I can’t, I still need to pack my suitcase.” She lookup from her suitcase, looking at me with wide eyes. “You can finish that up tonight, come let’s go shopping.” I stretch my hand out for her but she declined it. “No…I can’t Drake, I still need to pack and I need to plan some things for….” She was rambling, her mind was running wild. “Baby, I know but we really need some groceries and I thought you mind wanted some new clothes for this weekend.” Her eyes darted between me and her suitcase. “Okay but for not too long.”
Y/N POV
We finally arrived at our hotel and I was so excited to be here. “Let’s go to our room first.” He suggested as we got our room key. I nodded and hooked my arm around his. We both walked through the hotel till we found our room. “Ladies first.” He gently pushed the door open for me and let me go in first. The room was beautiful with all the Disney details. “Oh my….look at this.” I looked around the room in an awe. “You like this, baby?” He wrapped his arms around me from behind, leaning his head against my shoulder. “Yes, I love it.” I turned around and placed a small kiss on his lips. “Good to hear darling, you want to go to the park?” I nodded and he smiled at me. “Let’s go then.”
We both walked hand in hand through the park, enjoying our time off. “Let’s go in there.” I pointed at space mountain. “Okay. Lead the way.” He smiled softly as I guided us to the entrance of the ride. “I’m so excited, I really love it.” I admitted to him as we joined the waiting line. “I know, it’s cool right?” I nodded as he was smiling brightly. Looking all happy and relaxed, making me feel happy and relaxed too.
After that we went to his favourite spot to get some snacks. “This is one of my favourites.” He handed me over a snack and a drink. “Thank you.” We both sat in silence as we were watching some people that were passing by. “You like it?” I nodded as I had my mouth full. “Good, shall we go to the next ride, perhaps the haunted mansion?” I nodded and stood up, he immediately wrapped his arms around me. “You ready?” “I’m ready.”
The whole day went smooth, we did all the rides we wanted, got some food and Drake showed me his favourite spots. “We should go back, relax a bit and then go back for the fireworks.” He moved his arm around to my shoulder and smiled at me as we both walked back to our hotel room. “We have one hour then we need to head back.” He checked his phone and quickly snapped a picture of me. “Beautiful.”
Drake POV
We relax a bit in our hotel room before heading back to watch the fireworks. “Let’s go over there.” I pointed at an empty spot. She grabbed my hand and held it tightly as I walked us through the crowd. “Perfect, do you want something to eat?” I stopped walking as I found the perfect spot to watch the fireworks. “Yes that would be nice.” I quickly looked at the time and saw I had some time left to get us some snacks. “Okay, I’ll be right back then, stay here.” She nodded and I walked back through the crowd to get us something to eat.
She was making some pictures of the castle as I walked back with some snacks and drinks. “Here you go my love.” She turned around and smiled at me. I handed her some snacks over and took a bite from one of the treats that I had left in my hand. “How long?” “10 minutes.”
After 15 minutes the show was about to start. She was standing in front of me, standing close to me as the night became a little bit chilly. I quickly pulled my jacket off and wrapped it around her shoulders. “Thank you.” She looked back at me with a smile on her face. “No problem.” I gave her a kiss and rubbed softly her shoulders. She looked back at the castle as the music started to play. I rested my head on her shoulder, holding her close to me as the show began.
We both walked hand in hand to our hotel room, she was rambling about the fireworks. “That was so beautiful and the way they used the lights…just wow.” She had a huge smile on her face. “You had a good time today?” She immediately nodded. “Yes! I loved it.” She looked so happy and relaxed, making me feel lucky to have her as my girlfriend.
Y/N POV
We were laying together in bed, my head was resting on his chest as he had his arm wrapped around my shoulder. We were both looking at his phone, looking through the pictures. “Aww that one is cute.” I pointed at a picture of us together with Pooh. He gently gave me a kiss on my head and swiped further through the pictures. “What do you want to do tomorrow?” I asked him while looking at his phone. “I have a reservation for us for dinner tomorrow, but for the rest I haven’t planned anything yet.”
I carefully turned around and looked up at him, feeling the urge to say to him that I love him, that I’m feeling a lot of emotions right now and that he’s the one for me. “I love you.” My voice trembled as tears started to form in my eyes. He moved his hand to my face, caressing me softly. “I love you so much baby.” His eyes became glossy as well. “You make me so happy.” His fingers traveled over my face. “You make me happy too Drake.” He smiled and a few tears rolled down his face. “Ugh I hate crying.” I wiped away his tears as mine started to fall down. “Me too.” I said with a laugh as I pecked his lips. “I love you baby.” “I love you too Drake.”

What's your favorite non-fanfic hobby?
Cross stitch! At the moment, my main project is the four 'stretching room' panels of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, I'm, uh...not very far. It's 75,000 stitches, or it will be in about ten years when I finish it.
Tumblr media
In between working on The Big One (insert Sid from Toy Story voice here), I knock out a littler piece every now and again. Most of those I give away, so the only one I had on hand to take a picture of is this one:

It's hell on my eyesight but I really enjoy it! Thank you for the ask; I love to show off my projects haha.

Tumblr media
History and Design The idea for a haunted house attraction at Disneyland originated with Walt Disney himself in the early 1950s during the initial planning and construction of the park. Various concepts were considered over the years, originally envisioned as a walk-through wax museum before evolving into the iconic dark ride we know today. Original Concept and Evolution In 1957, an early concept envisioned the attraction as a New Orleans-style plantation home that would transition from an opulent mansion to a ramshackle ghost house as guests walked through. However, Walt insisted that he did not want any part of Disneyland to appear run down. In 1961 the project was put on hold as Walt devoted his team's full attention to creating attractions for the 1964 World's Fair. After the Fair, development resumed in 1965. Legendary Disney animators and Imagineers Marc Davis, Claude Coats, Yale Gracey and X Atencio joined the project and changed the concept from a walk-through to a dark ride using innovative ride systems. The storyline and tone evolved to have a balance between spooks and humor, with music and effects setting the mood. Exterior Architecture and Queue The final design for the exterior was inspired by the Shipley-Lydecker House in Baltimore, built in 1803. The architecture mirrors the antebellum mansions found throughout the American South in the mid 19th century. The façade features white columns, ornate moldings, and decorative ironwork. The interactive queue includes the pet cemetery, musical crypts, and floating instruments while guests wait to enter. The grounds are landscaped with weeping trees and plants to appear abandoned and in mourning. Interior Design and Technology Inside, Claude Coats designed surreal endless hallways, morphing corridors, ghostly ballrooms, and haunting graveyards. Marc Davis counterbalanced with humorous scenes and characters. The various rooms and scenes were achieved using groundbreaking illusions and special effects for the time. The ride introduced the innovative Omnimover system to transport Doom Buggies through the attraction. The buggies can rotate to ensure guests see key scenes. Other effects like the floating candles, dancing ghosts, and hitchhiking spirits utilize Pepper's Ghost, a 19th century illusion technique using glass and lighting. The audio-animatronics, lighting, and set decoration further enhance the mood and effects throughout the ride. The Ghost Host narration guides visitors through the mansion as part of the storytelling.

Ride Experience The Haunted Mansion takes riders on a 7-minute tour through the supernatural realm of "999 Happy Haunts." The experience begins even before boarding the Doom Buggies, setting the tone through immersive visuals, sounds and special effects. Stretching Room After passing the pet cemetery, guests enter the Portrait Gallery stretching room. As the Ghost Host delivers his spiel, the room appears to magically elongate upwards, revealing changing portraits and flying objects. In reality, the ceiling remains fixed as the floor descends, but the effect is startling. Doom Buggies Guests then board the Doom Buggies, vehicles inspired by early 20th century funeral coaches that can rotate to direct the riders' attention. The buggies utilize Disney's innovative Omnimover system to transport visitors through the various scenes of the attraction. Key Scenes and Effects As you travel through the Endless Hallway, ghosts seem to materialize and vanish before your eyes. In the Ballroom, apparitions dance and revel to haunting music. Ghouls pop up from behind tombstones in the Graveyard. Spectral figures also appear in the Attic, Grand Hall, and other rooms. Madame Leota floats within her crystal ball, conducting a chilling séance. A ghostly organist plays a melancholy tune. And three Hitchhiking Ghosts may just follow you home! These iconic characters and scenes have made the Haunted Mansion famous. Animatronics and Characters In addition to the dancing ghosts and Leota, the ride features several incredibly detailed audio-animatronic figures. The Bride, holding a hatchet, stands frozen in the Attic scene. A ghostly organist plays a massive pipe organ. And the Caretaker and his dog cower in the pet cemetery. The three Hitchhiking Ghosts - Phineas, Ezra, and Gus - appear in your Doom Buggy at the end of the ride. These playful spooks may just try to follow you out of the mansion!

Holiday Overlay and Pet Cemetery Every September, the Haunted Mansion transforms into a Nightmare Before Christmas theme for Halloween and Christmas. Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie appear throughout the ride, and music from the film plays. The gingerbread men in the ballroom become creepy insects, and the attic features presents and trees. The pet cemetery outside the mansion is often overlooked but has some humorous tombstones dedicated to deceased pets like good old Fred who was crushed by a rock. During the holidays, Jack's ghost dog Zero gets a tombstone here too.

Tips for Riders - Look for the Hidden Mickey that appears on the plates in the ballroom scene - Be sure to see the Hatbox Ghost in the endless hallway with the floating candelabra - Listen for the deep organ music and try to spot the ghostly organist - See how many ghosts you can count in the cemetery and ballroom scenes - Watch out for those Hitchhiking Ghosts at the end - don't pick up any extra passengers!

Comparison to Other Disney Parks While based on the original Disneyland ride, the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland Haunted Mansions differ in their exterior architecture and some show scenes. The Disneyland Paris Phantom Manor features an entirely different backstory and darker tone. Magic Kingdom: Liberty Square location, brick façade, more colonial aesthetic, additional graveyard scenes. Tokyo Disneyland: Fantasyland location, imposing gothic architecture, unique holiday overlay. Disneyland Paris: Frontierland as Phantom Manor, Victorian architecture, scarier tone and effects, unique bride backstory. In the end, the iconic Disneyland Haunted Mansion set the standard, balancing humor and spooks perfectly to stand the test of time as a Magic Kingdom classic attraction.
