thinking about this aegon tries to marry badly to avoid the dance au

he marries ynys sand, base born daughter of prince olyvar nymeros martell and lady gwenys wyl. raised by her mother in wyl. ynys is a warrior, she reveres wylla of wyl, and she’s a few years older than aegon (which he feels is the perfect touch to her unsuitableness).

qoren is Not In On It but he knows about it. this is an even more detached version of the vulture king’s war and he makes it clear that if they get caught doing something shady He Will Not Help.

helaena is in on this plan the entire time, and they figure it’s likely she and aemond are going to be married to each other immediately after they pull this goofy ass stunt, but aegon figures they’re better suited, and plus he has helaena to help him manage aemond’s temper.

i was trying to think of how he’d realistically get away from home long enough to get hitched, and i know he has a dragon, but that’s not exactly subtle is it, so i would think he needs a Kingsguard on his side so he can be like “oh yeah i’m going flying, he’s gonna meet me at this castle” and then just lie about what castle they’re heading to. this is how arryk cargyll becomes aegon’s personal guard & develops several ulcers.

viserys is initially PISSED because he’s having flashbacks to daemon running off with mysaria, rhaenyra is PERPLEXED by this move, otto insists helaena and aemond are married to each other immediately to curb any ~rebelliousness~ and no one can get Aegon out of the marriage because ynys has a letter signed by all the dornish marcher lords and qoren that they witnessed the bedding and arryk says they shared a bed on the road too. viserys is two seconds away from pulling another "i'm going to put a heavily pregnant woman on a ship to see if she miscarries and then start getting banishment happy" but Rhaenyra and Daemon convince him this is a good thing because it'll distract from The Rhaenyra Had Brown Haired Babies Of It All

aegon's first child by ynys HAS to be valyrian looking just to keep everyone on their toes. to make sure he's being INCREDIBLY unfit for the throne, aegon tells ynys she can name the kids whatever she wants - the less valyrian sounding the name, the better. so their first child has their father's silver hair and purple eyes, but their mother's slightly darker skin tone, and is named nymeria/nymeros targaryen.

POINT ONE: “acceptable bastards” have noble blood on both sides and i don’t think aegon could marry lower than that without otto being able to press her into the faith or just like, off her if it comes to it, before anyone can hear about the marriage. and anyone lower than that might not have the resources to defend themselves from behavior like that, and she would need to.

i remembered wylla of wyl being a warrior maid, and i thought it would be nice if she revered wylla, so one of her parents could from wyl, which works with the dornish marches background perfectly. i went through a couple scenarios and looked at some other noble born bastards that rise high and most of them had at least one parent from a great house, so that means one parent is a martell. i thought it would be simplest if she just grew up in wyl.

POINT TWO: that also puts some distance between her and qoren, and since qoren explicitly doesn’t want to get involved with dragon nonsense, i think there needs to be some distance between them for him to go “fine go marry a targaryen but keep whatever this is confined and lowkey because i will not back you up in public.”

also, since i put all that work into my dornish timeline, i just worked something out from there! qoren is around rhaenyra’s age, so not old enough to have a bastard old enough for aegon to marry. that means ynys sand has to be his half sister. i decided gwenys was a widow who never had any kids, had a hot and heavy affair with the married olyvar nymeros martell, and they decided she should just keep the baby at wyl. (she got remarried when ynys was around 4 and had a true born girl a year after, and they’re close they’re just like, Different. ynys got all of gwenys’ go get ‘em attitude).

POINT THREE: helaena being a dreamer is too precious to me, i think it’s great and hilarious if viserys was a dreamer and then had not one but TWO kids who were also dreamers but never noticed because he ignored them so much. i desire that shitty dad carnally. anyways. i think it’s logical to assume that if aegon pulls a stunt like this, everyone is going to start insisting helaena and aemond are married right now so that a) neither of them can also do some crazy shit like this and b) they can start having proper valyrian babies to counteract Aegon trying to plug up the family tree. I’m not saying anyone is factoring Aegon out of the family tree but I do think some people are going to go “well let’s get some back ups in motion in case Aegon decides to get crazy again.” I think Helaena would be fine with this idea; she has grown up probably assuming she was going to marry a brother anyway and they’re only a year apart.

(i came up with an excuse to age them up closer to show ages that i thought could be semi plausible which is just aegon trying to put off getting married by asking if they can wait until helaena comes of age, and since helaena thinks this is fine, and aegon pulls the “well rhaenyra got to wait” card, viserys just shrugs and agrees while alicent is sitting there like “is something happening right now. are my children conspiring.” so in my mind by the time they enact this plan, aegon is around 19, helaena is around 16, and aemond is about 15. also ynys would be like 26. hot, i love a woman getting married over the age of 13.

this could work without the pause though - i can just shrink the gap by making ynes 18 or 19. helaena is the age she was when she married aegon in canon (13), and aemond is 12, which means they’d likely wait a year before marrying him to helaena at least. um. it’s not fun but it has been done in this series before, with aemond’s daddy to boot).

POINT FOUR: firstly, every fanfic i’ve read where aegon has some sort of dragon dream has him sour on criston. idk if this is bc the writer dislikes him or because it makes sense aegon would distrust him (as in, sees him as power grabbing on the level of otto and daemon) BUT i do think if he’s keeping this from his mother he’s not gonna tell criston. i thought arryk was a good choice because i imagine aegon (esp show aegon) would appreciate someone so loyal they would be willing to go out in a double murder with their twin brother, over the other two green kingsguard who are Fine but probably watching maelor get ripped to death in a dragon dream turned aegon off a bit.

POINT FIVE: Listen, Viserys hates an argument so if people are being calm and going "look at me, i'm not arguing i'm perfectly rational" he's more likely to listen. see: eventually sending money to daemon in the stepstones. he also does Not care about what aegon does that much, so long as he's a proper dragon rider and Stays Out Of The Way. so if aegon is otherwise behaving, and helaena's feelings aren't hurt, and aemond is happy to marry helaena, and rhaenyra and daemon are both like "this is fine actually" and otto gives up and decides to focus on getting aemond married to helaena while he figures out how to deal with this, viserys will probably chill out and go "well they were married in sight of gods and men, nothing to do about it"

POINT SIX: Saera just saying Maegor's name was enough to make Jaehaerys throw a fit, and Aerion invoking it is part of why they pass his son up in favor of Egg, so I can see Aegon trying to go for some wild names. I also think he'd get Helaena into this, ask her to convince Aemond to name their first born Saera, Viserra, or Maegor. I don't know if Aemond would go for that? He's certainly insane enough but he's a momma's boy and Alicent might talk him out of it.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON AU: (thought dump for a fic that I'll try to start)

I suddenly remembered a post I saw before stating that Lucerys Velaryon = Prince Eric.

Well

Fancast: Jonah Hauer-King as older Lucerys Velaryon (growing up to be the Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark). Able to pass off as a Velaryon since Laenor (before leaving) claimed that his children got Rhaenys' Baratheon genes instead of the Velaryon genes. Married Princess Rhaena Targaryen. In this story Rhaenys will have the Baratheon hair as she should have had.

Another branch timeline could see him as King of the Seven Kingdoms if Rhaenyra would be forced to disinherit Jacaerys for marrying Sara Snow instead of Baela. Corlys and Rhaenys would be fuming at the betrayal and Rhaenyra would be adviced to please them.

Hints of lucemond: Aemond/Fem!Aemond would be incredibly jealous since holy crap lucerys is a full course meal with a bonus Driftmark or literally the Seven Kingdoms and would regret choosing 4th child Floris/Male!Floris Baratheon over his/her nephew when he/she had the chance.

Okay great news, folks. I'm working away at the next chapter of The Night We Met, and I've got some housekeeping things to announce.

Harry Osborn will be in this fic, but his father (and thus the Green Goblin) will not. Just mentioned, but not in the fic. And I'm playing in the sandbox of Tom Holland's Spiderman movies, so technically, the Osborns don't exist/haven't been introduced yet. So I'm taking that oppurtunity to introduce one of my own. I'll be basing him on the previous Harry characters of course, but the face I have in mind when writing which you can picture if you like (or anyone else, whoever you want, James Franco or whoever) is Dylan O'Brien.

I did a search for Harry Osborn fancasts and he came up, and my beta and I agreed so it turned out like that. Okay. Harry in this fic, which is No Way Home-compliant but diverging into an AU, will be sort of friendly with Peter. He won't know Peter or remember him because of the effects of the spell, obviously, but he won't be a complete asshole either. I might introduce Flash Thompson to be the jerk bully, not sure yet.

2. Daredevil will also make an appearance. Ever since the scene in FFH when Murdock told Peter he needs a good lawyer, I had this idea that what if Peter had a mock trial class in school and maybe Murdock teaches that class. (I actually had a mock trial class in my senior year, so maybe figures). And it'll be Charlie Cox, of course.

Kingsman Fic Ideas/Prompts

Merwin, Perciwin, Hartwin, or Gen: Charlie gets kicked out or at least punished for the water prank.

Parachute test fix-it (Merwin or Gen): Perhaps Merlin takes a minute to understand why Eggsy has said chip on his shoulder

What if Eggsy and Charlie were the last two in the parachute test?

"Manners maketh man. You'd do well to remember that Mr. Hesketh." Or Harry is none too pleased when he finds out how Charlie has been treating Eggsy. (Can be Hartwin or Harry can be more of a father figure in this)

What if Charlie had passed the loyalty test?

Harry lets Eggsy teach Dean a lesson after Eggsy fails the final test and comes home and finds out that Dean hit his mom.

Post-TGC: (Merwin or Gen) Merlin lives, but Eggsy still feels guilty. He's also angry because Merlin sacrificed himself to repay Eggsy's father, not because of Eggsy himself, which parallels Harry saying, "Can't you see that everything I've done has been about trying to repay him?" in the first Kingsman film.

AU - Canon Divergence, Enemy of My Enemy: Eggsy doesn't kill Charlie. Eggsy and Charlie have to team up against a villain, not necessarily Poppy.

Merwin or Gen: Daisy asks Merlin to dress up as Gru for Halloween so that her and Eggsy can be minions.

Howdy! I simply adore your story and I was hoping to ask a few questions!

1. Do you have a fun fancast for Elain and Azriel and if so, who?

2. Where did your mind come up with this beautiful story?

3. Did know you deserve everything the world has to offer?

I also want to share with you that my favorite part of the most recent chapter was probably Azriel carving the little sculpture with truth teller. I know Elain was close with her father and he used to carve things during their time in the cabin. I’m not sure if you’ve done it intentionally but it’s such a sweet node to her father and I love it. I know papa Archeron failed them but I also know being a parent isn’t easy. He’s one of the most human characters SJM has ever written (along side Elain and Nesta). The fact that a hobby that Az openly partakes in also woodcarving is sweet.

Anon, I love these questions and thank you for asking them!

1. My headcannons for these two may be slightly divergent from the series. In my mind Elain leans towards brunette with strong brows not unlike bridget satterlee but with big wavy hair. She's around 5'7, with fuller hips/thighs and smaller bust than her sisters. Her hands are nearly as scarred as Az's from years of gardening.

Azriel has straight up curls in my mind for whatever reason. Xavier Serrano is a close one for me. As I've mentioned I see him more lean muscle than bulk, and he's lighter on his feet than either of his brothers. He also has much fuller lips in my mind. He fights with more finesse and less raw strength, prefers two handed weaponry- a dagger and shortsword to a longsword. I would love for the actors playing the bat boys in the series to be Israeli honestly, I think they are the most beautiful men in the world. But the show stresses me out so I'm choosing to believe it's not happening.

2. This story came to me as I was re-reading acotar for the first time since 2020 and began to develop very specific headcanons about Elain having earth magic tied to her Sight and solid lore connecting the two. I also wanted her to be trained by a female instead of another dude and not as a warrior, hence the Oracle. I'm not a huge fanfiction reader (admittedly pretty damn particular about them) so mostly I just decided to write my own story to satisfy the itch I couldn't find. I have always loved Elain. I think she's very understated in the series, but we have a lot in common. I too am a verdant loving softspoken femme with quiet strength. I love writing Elain and Az because not unlike them, I think a lot more than I speak, and there's a world underneath people are unaware of. My relationships are also constantly laced with unspoken, quiet delicacies. It is probably why so much of this story leans on internal monologue. SO much of the italics are things I have literally thought in my own relationships and never spoken aloud.

Another inevitable battle lost.

3. I don't deserve anything but these sorts of asks just make my whole week and are so fun. Good catch on Azriel's carving! There is definitely a parallel there between Az and her father that will be revealed next chapter. He always has a knife on him, so wood carving seemed like a natural hobby for soft shadowboi. I love each of you for even reading this damn thing. As a new writer the whole process is rather frightening I never imagined anyone would even really see it. XOXO.

What is your favourite thing you created?

I think it's actually one of the zukka things I wrote: came in first (and I'm the last one leaving) about a marriage pact because as much as I loved writing some of the AUs (like the pushing bluesey and the terror genie au), this one was just so fun and I loved writing it, and while amnesia!roy was also fun, that one dipped into serious at times and this one was just a fun comedic romp. So! yeah! That!

Which work are you proudest of?

it's got a lot to do with having to finish what I start which is a Declan + Ronan canon divergent AU. I'm proud that I finished it because this was legit buried in my 'give up' pile and I was convinced to unearth it, and it got a mild plot, and I finished it. So yay me.

Is there anything you are proud of that you achieved this year?

I got a new job within seven weeks of being laid off. That one was HUGE for me, because it felt like eternity. I'm past probation now and I'm stupid proud of that, because I got to show myself that I am great and ppl will recognize that.

Did you explore anything new this year? (A new way to be creative, a trope you didn’t write before, or an idea you hadn’t thought of earlier, etc.)

I mean, applying for work for the first time in four years was definitely new. Coping with applicant tracking systems? Very new. I also did a full event planning for a physical event (I'd only done virtual before) and explored a couple new countries/places (Costa Rica, Bath).

Oh! And speaking of travel, I got back to my blog when I was laid off and while it's not like it's ever going to be super popular, I love writing my little articles and posting my pictures to revisit the things I've done.

Which work gave you the most difficulty?

Honestly, something that isn't published yet, which is an Old Guard/Outlander/Time Traveller's Wife mashup. I've had the idea forever and was plugging away at it all year, but it hasn't progressed the way I want and even though I have 20k written, it just feels paltry.

What was your biggest creative challenge this year?

Writing during the layoff was really rough. I had too much time on my hands and it was hard to get creative, because I felt like I had to be doing something productive.

Which work brought you the most joy?

Still cluck cluck, motherf- because Adam and Declan playing sick!chicken is something I am still v proud of.

Which of your works do you think people should check out?

Honestly? I'm cool with any of them being read. I was extremely happy with the reception of all my stuff, even the smaller ones.

Do you have creative plans for next year? Is there anything exciting you’re currently working on?

Always! There's 8 WIPs I want to finish, I want to continue work on my blog, and hey, maybe one day I'll write my novel instead of mentally fancasting it (Sam Reid as one of the main mentor roles has been consuming my thoughts)

Super AO3 related, but always reminding yourself of the archive nature. That comments can come at any time, and that you're contributing to your own little kudos report. That you're proud because of what you published and it's great because of your work, not because of its reception.

1. I don't condone John Barrowman’s actions, and I don't think they should bring him back for Doctor Who cameos or any potential Torchwood spinoffs. (I personally think they should've recast him before Jack's cameo in 13’s run and written it off with the classic “have you had work done?” since it had been so long since we'd seen the character at that point, but that's neither here nor there.) I considered doing a fancast for this blog, but 95% of the face claim images I reblog are probably going to be direct gifs of the show, so it ended up seeming pointless.

2. This blog is 18+! But, not strictly a smut blog. I'm not here for smut, but if it happens, it happens. I'm sure there's going to be enough references to it here for 18+ to be necessary.

That being said, I am not particularly open to serious shipping. One night stands can happen, fuck buddies if you're lucky, but my blogs main verse takes place during season two of Torchwood and my primary ship is his budding relationship with Ianto Jones. My real life partner does RP as Ianto, though in the bedroom on Discord rather than Tumblr, and is my exclusive Ianto; I'm not interested in writing with other Iantos.

3. Jack has a lot of lore. If I contradict any of it, no I didn't. This blog is very likely to be canon divergent. My portrayal of Jack is based primarily on Torchwood, and little throwaway lines from Doctor Who/Big Finish/etc. are likely to slip through the cracks. Bear with me.

4. I'm pretty up on my Whoniverse lore despite being new to Torchwood; I wrote the Master for years, including having an entry in The History Between Us zine. Despite my participation in a pg-13 zine, Torchwood is definitely more suited to my usual writing style; I've written in the Outlast and Saw fandoms in the past. Sex and violence is my area of expertise.

bc idt ive talked abt this MUCH / at all here's some info on rey's parents (any is subject to change).

but rey's mother was miramir tilles. she was force sensitive but it was rather latent that appeared in fixing things, engineering skills, intuition, and more subtle things like that. miramir was given up as an infant [ one of her parents were likely a jedi ] and adopted by a single mother. she grew up on hyperkarn [ a forest planet in the outer rim which i'd like to create lore on bc i have a lot of ideas !! but it's very elvish - fantasy vibes. there's also dragons, glowing plants, giant mushrooms, tree spirits ]. i also think the planet itself had deep traditions and deep connections to nature and the force. like everyone typically believed in it and respected it but not everyone was force sensitive. rey was actually born on hyperkarn but doesn't remember it much. fancast : jo.die com.er or mad.chen am.ick.

rey's father was korar kelborn, nicknamed kor. rey vaguely remembers building ships made out of wood with him (taken from the dotf script). he might've been a mandalorian and also might've wanted to raise his daughter with similar values. some mando'a words are vaguely familiar to her. fancast : to.ny le.ung.

PREQUELS DIVERGENCY : kor + miramir are killed by mercenaries / pirates after leaving rey with unkar plutt (which was supposed to be temporary) when she was younger than/around two years old. she's found by the jedi around age three - four. she's named kira by a jedi who found her since nothing was known about her. rey adopts a different name later on.

Need to do a bit more research (have found a hopefully decent resource) but hoping I'll be able to show my idea for White London fashion in some art pieces. Since it's an AU version of the historical London we know, I like to think their fashion would diverge in a few ways.

Since it's the Regency era, I've decided to keep chemise and stays for example (mentioned in Beacon of Hope; they also had corsets but less tight and figure-shaping than Victorian style). There's a strong Germanic influence in some names and the Maktahn language, so that will be incorporated. This will probably sound random but I'm thinking of incorporating some kind of East Asian influence in fashion (I saw some neat fancasts where half the WL characters were Chinese or Japanese and my brain latched onto that idea). I know most WL characters are pale skinned with light hair (and art pieces tend to depict them as white) but it's strongly implied that's a lack of magic (note how Ojka went from pale haired to vibrant red after being made into an Antari).

WL will be my focus, but some ideas for Red London: vibrant colors obviously; it's mentioned that the average Arnesian tends to be brown skinned, contrasting with pale red-haired Kell (a lot of blue and green eyes but I'm putting that down to magic). I'm not sure if that's meant to be interpreted as an African or Indian influence, or a different one entirely.
