Inspired by Mai Magi (is she no longer on tumblr? couldn't find her) and my friend from insta (mosscoveredtroll) I made my own braided belt reccently! I started simple by doing a standard braid with 3 main strands (4 strands per "strand" though) and used this pretty bronze gold belt buckle I've got from a bargain bin ages ago. Finally it's time to shine has come!!
Making the belt was so much fun, I immediately made another one for my dear friend Meg's birthday present and already plan already on making another one for a craft swap with my dear friend @wuselwesen.
[id]Pic 1 & 8 are full body shots which incoorperate the finished braided black belt into an outfit. A fat, white, young seeming woman with long brown hair worn over one shoulder and glasses is wearing a berry-coloured dress. The dress is loose-fitting, and as such nicely accentuated with the braided black belt. She's wearing a berry-coloured bandana in her hair, with white lace edging. A black scarf, black leggins and black shoes tie in the black belt. A berry and orange patterned kimono-inspired jacket finishes the whole look!
Pic 2-7 show progress pictures of how the braided belt was made.
Pic 2: show the single strands of the belt being prepared and hung over a chair in the meantime
Pic 3: The beginning of the braids: the strands of shirt-yarn are being knotted to a bronze-coloured key (wait? a key?)
Pic 4: We see a finished black belt with a key buckle, which you use to tie the belt up.
Pic 5: But what's that?? More belt buckles?? (including the one seen in the full body shots.) Wait a moment... might these pictures reveal something?
Pic 6: Alas, the first belt turned out too small and the belt being worn in the outfit is actually the second belt! Surprise! They are very similar, one belt just has a key belt buckle and the other a D-shaped belt buckle. And of course the second one is longer (though you can't really tell, as it's wrapped around a bottle in the picture)
Pic 7: Apparently a braided bracelet has been made from scrap material! Also conveniently modeled on a water bottle.

Quick zipper sleeves vest update-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put on the back patch from my old vest and I’ve started mocking up the smaller patches and placing pins so it’s not totally empty.
Also thrifted a belt which I turned into a spiked cuff:

There are two ends with o-rings on them left so I’m thinking of placing them along the shoulder seams like this for decoration:

I have lots of patches I wanna get on here but figuring out the layout is tricky! Anyways that’s where things are at

DIY Halloween Coffin Purse from Etsy
The $8.13 Pattern for this Coffin Purse from Etsy seller PerfectLittleParcel here.
What I like about this pattern is that it is all done with hand sewing.
This coffin bag is perfect for fans of hand sewing with a soft spot for the gothic! The project lends itself to beginners looking to improve their hand sewing skills, or experienced sewers wanting a simple but involved project. The instructions detail how to make the bag, from sourcing the materials to attaching the bag to a belt for ease of wear.

Question about diexie dai (belt)
I received the following question from @aarghc about diexie dai. As I'm not familiar with belt construction, perhaps some other readers might be able to provide insights?:
I'm trying to understand the structure of 蹀躞带 dié xiè dai belts. There are many pictures where the hanging straps are clearly one layer, but here (https://fuckyeahchinesefashion.tumblr.com/post/664758617722994688/%E8%B9%80%E8%BA%9E%E5%B8%A6-di%C3%A9-xi%C3%A8-dai-by-cromartie) and other places where you see them hanging pouches from the belt, the hanging straps are 2 layered. From a modern construction perspective it would make sense for there to be snaps on the hanging straps to attach to the pouches but if not, then it looks like it's just friction holding the pouches to the belts? That's now how I'd like to secure my wallet. 8-) Might you or your readers have any insights on Chinese utility belt construction? 8-)

Me, too many projects? Nah
Anyways, before the new year I drew a concept for a utility belt I wanted to make out of an army coat, and today I've pinned together all the components. Already had the wallet looking thingie and the lighter fabric pouch with the thigh strap.

I made studded cuffs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had an old Hot Topic belt that didn’t fit me anymore (is it just me or is the sizing there kinda funky?? BAD funky) and I cut it up into these!
I don’t have snaps, nor did I want to buy any (fuck Amazon and the Micheals that’s 30 minutes away from me!!), so I just used good ol’ fashioned hot glue. It was……….an experience. If you’re thinking of doing the same, glue the ENDS of the cut out segments together, and cut off enough to wiggle your wrist outta them!!
Super fun experience, totally recommend if you’re cheap

Finished (almost) another scrap pouch! This time for myself 💅 took it out for a spin today while going on a nice nature walk 🍃
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The patch is an mcr lyric "You look like somebody i used to love !!" from Vampire Money 🖤
im gonna add some buttons im making out of bottle caps and then add one more attachment to the belt so it can be a full beltloop pouch! Right now it can attach to one belt loop and swings around a lot. 🐟
Also heres the nature I looked at today. which does look a little danger days with the wires and sunsets and stuff 🧚‍♂️

Thrifted goth belt colllection
Because why not, I seem to be slowly but surely posting pics of all the stuff I manage to thrift.
I never really wore belts at all until a year or so ago, but decided I'd like to start. Goth friendly belts turn up in charity shops surprisingly often and they're always cheap. I found a lace up one last weekend and like a dumbass I didn't get it. By the time I decided to go back for it, it had already been sold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one was actually from a car boot sale and was 20p. I really need to wear this more often because I love it!
Tumblr media
Zip up elasticated one with studs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another elasticated one, but on this the elastic is threaded through these metal plates.
Tumblr media
Studs, eyelets and sequins. I may remove the sequins as I'm not especially keen on them, but I still think this belt is beautiful.
Tumblr media
Various others with studs and eyelets. I find these every single time I go into a charity shop. Always worth getting, particularly if you're into crafting as they can be repurposed into collars, bag straps, harnesses if that's your thing, used to embellish another piece of clothing like a jacket. Whatever you like!
