5. Do you respond to comments? YES! I only share fics because I want comments lmfao. I want to talk to you!!! Sometimes I do like a quarterly roundup so I let them pile up and then answer them all every 3 months lol but I do try to reply to everybody!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I think for Sheith it’s C O A G V L A and for VC it’s The Lotus Eater or Gallows Bird? (The Lotus Eater and Gallows Bird have the Armand & Marius versions of the same ending bc Gallows Bird was a TLE remix LOL) Sfaíra Ti̱s Fo̱tiás also has a really bleak ending but it’s a PWP so it doesn’t hurt me as bad LOL.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? For Sheith it’s THE FRONT I think? For VC idk maybe Right Where it Belongs or In the Trials of the Heart?

8. Do you get hate on fics? I’ve gotten a lot of hate in fandom at large but never really got flagrant hate in an AO3 comment. I do occasionally get a rude unsolicited critique and I like to use that as an opportunity to write meta about why my decision was correct LOL

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I only write smut, thanks! WHAT KIND? idk I lean into BDSM but there's a few that aren't BDSM. I also write canon-compliant VC smut so it's either a vampire servicing a human or me trying to make blood drinking sound as horny as possible.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I used to when I was a teenager on my old accounts but it doesn’t really interest me anymore outside of like maybe a cute lil homage Easter Egg or something.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don’t think so!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven’t co-written in a long time but I used to! One of my fav fics from high school was written with my best friend where we alternated chapters and it was so much fun!  

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Sheith and Marius/Armand and Armand/Daniel and Marius/Pandora !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are my fav ships to WRITE, I don’t really read a lot of VC though. I have lots of other fav ships to read.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I don’t start stuff that I won’t finish adsgjl when I was in high school my FFnet page was a DISASTER just like 60 fics, none of them finished, and so when I returned to fic writing using AO3 I promise myself not to post stuff that I wasn’t confident I’d finish. Ideally I don’t even begin sharing something until it’s finished but TTSR was an exception bc it started as a PWP and got out of hand.

16. What are your writing strengths? I get complimented the most on tension and pacing! Also on emotional meta like characters' behavior around trauma.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I really wish I was better at writing long fics. It’s been a goal of mine forever and I’ve gotten a little better but I’m not where I want to be.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Gjkaldsg I don’t think it’s necessary and often comes off as cheesy unless it serves a real purpose. I've seen it done really well before! (Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo came to mind!) And I think we’ve all seen this done badly enough in fanfic to kind of learn what not to do. I think there are times when the beauty and cadence of another language can add texture or say something that you simply can’t say in the default language, I also think it can be used to create a distance between the characters, even between the reader and the character. I used a lot of Latin in So Falls the World for example, because Marius and Pandora are reciting an ancient poem to each other, and it was important to me to leave it in Latin because I wanted to communicate their age, that they’re clinging to something archaic because it’s familiar to them, when it’s incongruous to the world around them and also the text around them. Same with the misinterpretation of silence and its disastrous consequences, where Louis is reciting a French poem. I mean do we assume that Louis and Lestat speak French to each other at home anyway? But putting the poem in the original language AT LEAST FOR ME created a sense that Louis is playing a role, that it’s something outside of himself. Basically I think media does this all the time and we are smart enough to know that the language we’re consuming might not be the language the characters are actually speaking, we all know that! So the question is, when people sprinkle random words into their stories or dialogue, I ask: What purpose did this serve? Is this how bilingual people actually talk? Is it written for bilingual readers as a shared experience or is it meant to confuse monolingual readers for effect? Is it used sparingly to add texture, is it just a fun word that you want to use? Do whatever you want but I think we need to ask ourselves these questions before writing something that’s a sloppy mess at best, and a racist caricature at worst!

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Tonight the Stars Revolt! is my fav Sheith fic, it’s like my magnus opus that I do all my meta work for, everything I’ve thought deeply about was ultimately for this fic, I HAVENT UPDATED IT IN ALMOST 2 YEARS IM REALLY SORRY LIFE KINDA GOT AWAY FROM ME IT’S BEEN HECTIC but I think about it constantly, more than you know, I have 3 playlists for it that I listen to all the time, it’s just always on my mind. For VC it used to be So Falls the World but now that I wrote Gallows Bird I think it’s that, too. I can’t tell if it’s because Gallows Bird is just newer and less sloppy LOL but jkdlhakjgsd I THINK I AVOIDED WRITING MARIUS FIC FOR A LONG TIME BC I WAS INTIMIDATED BUT THE TIMES I DO WRITE HIM I HAVE SUCH A BLAST and I just love him so much!

For the WIP game, care to share about Afterwards? 👀

Sure thing! So that's been an idea I've been playing with on and off for some time now -- a post war ME3 fic centered on one of Kaidan's squad leaders in Biotics Division. I wanted to do a series with original characters post-war, especially Kaidan's people since we don't get to hear much about them in-game and we don't really get to address much in the way of human biotics and the way they're still seen by their peers.

So Afterwards follows Ajax, who was initially introduced in my still ongoing ME3 long fic, and here's a bit of what I've got lol:

An interest in Asari engineering was as good an excuse as any to slip away from the festivities.

The ceremonial aspect of the evening had ended hours ago, the rest of his squad and Biotics Division dispersing into the crowd to mingle and celebrate with friends and family, and Ajax knew a thing or two about taking social laps to keep up appearances. Had done it most of his life, really, soirees and fundraisers, setting the stage for connections and contacts at the intersections of business and art, business and altruism, business and…

Well, business.

There were certain steps to these dances, as carefully calculated as any movement on a battlefield or breaching an enemy base, and while he'd kept away from it all these past five years it was still too ingrained in his muscle memory for him to forget.

Too ingrained for him to forget that he hadn't always needed to wear a mask, either.

Not to hide what he was -- there was no sidestepping the truth here, not after he'd been on stage with his fellow biotics, not when he wore the insignia and the rank on his uniform. Not when he was a squad leader, not when he needed to speak to his team's accomplishments and accolades -- things they'd deserved, things he wanted to shout from the rooftops if he could, even as another part of him shied away from the spotlight. Even as that part of himself braced for the looks and the whispers, from smiles that didn't quite hit the mark for sincerity, for empty praise pried from behind gritted teeth, from the tightness of jaws and hands, tension in the shoulders, discomfort at odds with a repulsion that would have been deemed rude in such company.

These were things Ajax had dealt with time and again, from associates who'd sneered at his youth, once, at the idea of being told what was what by some young upstart -- who couldn't quite change their tune even once they'd realized that he was not, in fact, some empty-headed socialite playing with mommy and daddy's money.

This was different, though. Ajax wasn't here to shore up business relationships, wasn't here to convince investors that it would look good for their public image if they'd just help a little more, reach out a little more, spend some time lifting the vulnerable up instead of fleecing them down.

Ajax was here to be acknowledged for his service, for the edge he and his fellows had given the Alliance as the first full-fledged Biotics company in their military history.

He was here to show that they'd mattered, in the war effort. That they'd helped.

That maybe, just maybe, there was nothing to be afraid of when it came to someone so different from yourself.

He'd done his laps; he'd been polite. Did his part and now…

Now he just wanted to get away from it all.

Parties like these had been his life, once; parties like these belonged to a past he could never get back.

And for once in the five years since his biotics had manifested, he wasn't entirely certain he wanted to go back.

House of Flowers: A sapphic slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance featuring an asian cast and many queers and female friendships. You can read the ongoing chapters here. Summary and details under the cut.

Genres: Sapphic romance, mystery, sci fi/fantasy Status: Posting 2nd draft chapters 1-2x weekly on ao3 Note: Concept of Flowers heavily inspired by Moonlight Garden (Manhwa) but characters, world, and plot all entirely mine. Summary:

2212. In a world rebuilt after the climate catastrophes, wealth and power separate the governed territories from the lawless colonies. And nothing is more extravagant and coveted than the Flowers – women afflicted by a condition that causes flowers to bloom across their skin like moving tattoos for several days a month, bringing them unbearable pain and arousal that spells death for them unless satiated by another woman. Unlike the public who worship the Flowers or the wealthy who pay exorbitant prices to watch the spectacle, Dr Aden Masters is determined to cure the condition. But the Houses that sell the services of the Flowers are understandably uninterested. And so, Aden strikes a devil’s bargain with the most powerful House, the House of Flowers, to gain access to the Flowers while keeping her true purpose a secret. I've received a couple asks about the Jaemle series and I do plan on continuing it, I'm just not sure when lollll. I have a bunch of misc. smut ideas I'll be writing at some point. These next few months are super busy for me as I'm hoping to graduate in August this year, but that means I, unfortunately, do not have much writing time.

Is It Over Now? - Chenle x Reader / Jisung x Reader! Based off of the song of the same name by Taylor Swift. This one is crazy and I'm still kinda questioning myself on how to end it (because I'm a chenle slut but how do you like...pivot on bad behavior idk)

Somewhere Else - ??? x Reader; lol I'm thinking Mark or Jaemin for this one. They seem to fit the picture in my head more than Chenle for this one unfortunately. Basically just an achingly fluffy piece with some smut in it lol

Stars Aligned - Chenle x Reader; basically Mastermind by Taylor Swift but he for sure knows the whole time and when the relationship becomes public (ex. gets exposed), things start to switch up

Several miscellaneous smuts that just pop into my head randomly. I have like 10 docs of just random smut scenes I haven't completed yet LOL

This is River and 11 in 8's TARDIS and it just tickles me when he's complaining about it.)

Weird Questions for Writers: 3, 4, 7, 13, 14, 15 (for now)

3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

So, to the extent that I have a writing ritual, it's cursed because between job and family obligations, I arguably don't have time to be doing this. The closest thing to a ritual I have, lately, though, is I get up very early and sometimes spend that time drinking coffee (errrrr a mocha, which is dessert, let’s just call it what it is) and writing, and I spend my commute (to work and home again via public transit) often writing on my phone. Sometimes instead I just scroll through Tumblr because I pretend the two things are equally important (they are inasmuch as I find them fun and it's my *me* time).

(I will expand on this soon in another answer.)

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

I have been doomed to answer this by daring to ask someone else this exact question because I thought it would be difficult to answer. #karma

So there's probably a better one out there, but because I've read so much 19th century English literature, it might be "indeed." (It's like the "oh" of the past.) Very versatile, very understated, plays a key role in basically every Jane Austen love story resolution. I also overuse it when texting. I've managed to only use it once in nearly 100k words of my current WIP, which means I'm being disciplined about how it isn't something any of the characters would say.

There are probably others. If anything good comes up, I'll just make a random post about it.

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

I think one of my deepest joys is that I can think to myself "wouldn't it be great if there were a scene or a whole story like _____," and if I put in enough effort, that scene or story can exist, and I can enjoy it almost as much as if I didn't write it.  I mean, that doesn't happen every time, but when it does come together and the scene or whatever exists just as I would like it to, I feel joy. 

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

So I kinda answered this in the last set of answers but I also kinda didn't. I will answer that I almost always want to write love stories (even in the midst of some other complex plot, the love story (or stories) is my reason for writing nearly anything), so that would count as "easy" subject matter. I pair people up. I'm a shipper. Could you tell?

Difficult? I still am not sure how to answer this - everything is kinda fair game in the service of my little shipper heart.  I guess what would be difficult would be writing a story with no romantic entanglements or even underlying questions about whether the main characters were secretly in love. Could I do it? Maybe. But I'd probably think I was succeeding and if you read it you'd be like "so they were actually in love, right?"....damnit.

14. Do you lend your books to people? Are people scared to borrow books from you? Do you know exactly where all your “lost” books are and which specific friend from school you haven’t seen in twelve years still possesses them? Will you ever get them back?

I am not against lending books to people, but I do keep track of them. I once let a friend in college borrow a copy of Pride and Prejudice (one of three that I had, so it wasn’t very generous of me........), and it came back with dog bite marks, so I was a little bit peeved about that (lol it was a cheap, worn-out paperback version with no frills or notes or anything, but it had sentimental value because it was the copy I stayed up until 3 am finishing when I read it the first time). Ultimately, though, I still have that copy and the bite marks are part of its charm.

And in a related story, I have a copy of Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies that I borrowed from someone and never finished and still have not returned, almost in protest because, given how creative someone *could* have been in making such a book, that book is absolute trash combined with plagiarism and that dude / publisher made a lot of money on that. (I'm saying this as someone who has read literally hundreds of Pride and Prejudice variations and sequels...it's my guilty pleasure--I don’t read romance novels, I read the same romance novel over and over).

But I should really return that book.

My mom borrows books from me all the time, but I don't track those as closely because I know I can get them back at any time, and even if she forgets they are mine, she'll offer them to me when she's done.

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

I only wrote in the margins of books when I took lit classes. Otherwise I transcribe things from books into notebooks and comment there OR I get Kindle versions and highlight them if I need to annotate. I don't dog ear pages to mark my place but I'm rough on books--I kinda like it when they get that well-worn quality. I love used books for that reason, since they often come that way.  Other people's notes, however, are interesting if it's a book I've already read, but distracting if it's a first reading (also goes for footnotes/endnotes, because I have a hard time ignoring words...I always read the comments).

I don't read in the bath--it sounds nice in theory but is not as comfortable or relaxing as it should be (I find). Give me a comfy couch for reading over a bath any day.

I do not judge others for any of these things. You're reading, which is a point in your favor. And books are meant to be used for enjoyment, not kept pristine.

Our lockdown lifted last week so fully vaccinated people are now allowed out and about, shops and public venues are open with masks and social distancing in place etc. I don’t plan to partake in any of these freedoms for the foreseeable future lol. I am feeling???? !?? I think just anxious and unsettled. I’m nervous about things opening up, but also about how expectations are going to start picking up now to like, not remain locked in your home. I’m just not there, i still have a lot of fear and stuff to untangle and i just want to wait for the next little while to unfold without me being out there in it. Work has thankfully already said they have no plans to rush us back into the office, which is such a relief. It sounds like at most only staff will have access to campus for the remainder of the year. That makes me feel really comfortable because i’m definitely not ready to put my service hat back on and start serving people in person. 

I don’t know i just feel off overall at the moment. I’m nervous about all of that, there are some house things that are stressing me out, i feel like i’m not available to connect with friends when they’re available to connect so i’m not really connecting, ugh i just feel?? Not very good. I just want to sit in the sun and have no thoughts or feelings. I did found the hard drive with all my good quality Spn downloads so i picked up a bit of gif making again! Slowly slowly, but i have worked on some most nights this past week. I am hoping to use it as a gateway back into writing, its a helpful way for me to flex some creative muscles, and i’ve been thinking about a couple of my wips a lot lately, so i need my active/maker brain to catch up and maybe reconnect with my passive/thinker brain. It’ll probably still be a while but step by step.

Oh but i am so enjoying watching Jared in Walker! I am so so enjoying watching him. It’s strangely not jarring to watch him play a character who is not Sam? I was expecting to find it weird, but it looks so good on him! His character is a bit cheeky, so i can see Jared enjoying himself in there :) The show has a really.. i’m not sure how to explain it, just like a family vibe? It’s feels emotionally calming, or something. Maybe it’s that so many scenes take place in a calm outdoor environment lol i don’t know! Maybe it’s just watching Jared play a dad ;__; god bless. But it makes me feel relaxed when i sit down to watch it which i DEEPLY appreciate at the moment. I think it’s got a lot of room to grow so i can’t wait to see it do just that. I’m almost caught up on season 1 and season 2 starts at the end of the month yay!

How  likely am I to write it: Identity porn isn’t really a narrative kink  for me, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to put it into anything, if it didn't come up naturally. Or if it would be funny.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: I don’t  really have a lot of fandom I could do identity porn for, too, so that's the next problem I have. RoL doesn't go for it much, and neither do TMA or Witcher or SGA. In the MCU/marvel comics I'm kind of only invested in Characters that just superhero under their legal name, zero fucks given in all canons I'm aware of, so oops there. Hannibal, maybe? Hannibal might work. Altho I prefere season 2 era, with everyone vague degrees of aware of each other's bs and scheming like petty murder divas.

Friends to enemies to lovers

How  likely am I to write it: Very unlikely. I think the only thing with this dynamic I like is Hannibal, as in, both Hannigram and Clannibal and Clannigram, but I don't think I'd really seek it out in fic or write it. I don't even know why, I should be into The Drama Of It All, but I'm just not.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Like I said, Hannigram/Clannibal/Clannigram, if it's something that retells an arc. I don't really do Ironstrange, but enemies to lovers or friends to enemies to lovers might be the only way I would, probably. They just don't get along in canon, and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why people ship it so much. Also why is their Doc always ooc. Enough moaning, I'll stop, I'll stop. Have fun ya'll, but stop the goddamn cross/mass-tagging. There shouldn't be that much Ironstrange in the gen tag, ya hear me?

hurt/comfort

How  likely am I to write it: VERY LIKELY. Hmmmmmm give me that good hurt/comfort.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Basically everything, lol. All my faves are idiots who need to be shipped with therapy and tortured with hugs. The Bev & Thomas fic is very hurt comfort-y, as is the Nonromantic-Soulmates WIP. Yes I know I never finish anything, shhhh. There's also an unfinished Strangewong fic in my drafts that's technically sick!fic (I MEAN ... what else lmao) and involves cuddling and soup and being sad about Endgame, so. Which, btw, is THE ONLY reason I will ever acknowledge that dumbassery masquerading as plot. To mine it for FRIDGE HORROR *evil laughter*. And then hand out soup.

coffeeshop au

How  likely am I to write it: Relatively unlikely? I don't really do fluff without plot (and I'm down with emotions as plot or snapshots that reveal something halway and sideways), and incidentally the only version of this trope I ever started would need a Graphic Violence tag lol. (If it wasn't LANGUISHING IN MY DRAFTS.) So I think I might be doing this trope wrong. Also doesn't help that I have experience manning a beer-counter / drink station, so I fall hard in the camp of 'that's an awful place for cute/fluffy shenanigans, have ya'll ever worked customer service lol'-camp. I see the appeal, but I also ... don't.

What characters/ships/fandoms would I write it for: Like I said, the only one I ever started was low-key a joke, because I don't do the trope and the fandom didn't have (and still doesn't have) one, and also because, you know. Graphic violence.

Have the first four or so paragraphs of the very unfinished RoL Demi-Monde Coffeeshop ... pre-canon canon divergence. Is there even a tag for that kinda thing? Anyways. I think the best part about this is getting to write a snotty totally-an-adult!!!-Peter who has zero respect for anything and thinks Thomas is the most ridiculous person he ever met. No graphic violence yet, only canon-typical ableist language.

There’s a lot of reasons people hate working in customer service; The bad pay, the atrocious hours, the customers, the service.

I did about two year of it, first on-and-off positions in some retail shops around where I grew up, punctuated by getting dragged along to my mother’s cleaning gigs, and then later, about a year in a not-actually-fancy Coffee House near Russell Square. And I figured afterwards my stint in customer service and retail had, at the very least, taught my younger self some much needed humility and compassion.

I’m kidding, of course. It just confirmed the suspicions I held towards my fellow humans. Especially the kind that start magic duels in public.

Now, I worked in a Coffee House, not a coffeshop, which meant Management got to price everything even more ridiculous then the rest of the world, we played wannabe-jazz elevator music instead of pop and our clientele wasn’t weird and crazy but more slightly bizarre and very deranged.

Like that one vaguely East-European guy who thought combining windowpane and paisley was a grand idea and who we – that’s the staff – did certainly not call Dracula, or the posh black lady who came to pick up her coffee before heading into the City every morning, except for that one time when, I swear on my dad’s record collection, she was wearing a diving suit under her costume, and of course Mister Stranger-Danger, who was the reason younger cousins didn’t get to do their homework behind the counter any more.

Of course we got your everyday stroll-by white girls and hipsters, but our regulars where, as far as I could tell, decidedly posh, but mostly not yet fully upper class, and also completely batshit looney, is what I’m saying. No offence to actual crazy people, because they certainly don’t dress that badly.

That’s why I didn’t even bat an eyelash when one day someone walked into the shop who was either a time-travelling noir-spy or a runaway extra from Downton Abbey.

He was a white guy, in that inexplicable past-40 age range where I can’t tell their age for the life of me, with a side sweep that must have been held in place with actual pomade, and dressed in one of those sleek looking, old suits with the broad, deep lapels and incredible narrow waists. To round off the impression that he’d come over, lean homoerotically close and tell me the name of the Kraut’s informant any moment now, he’d draped a Burberry over his arm and lugged an actual, honest to god walking cane around the city. It seemed impractical to me, but who am I to judge people’s fashion choices; I’m only the barista.

He also had that stiff demeanour about him, which I’d taken as a sign of something shifty going on anywhere else. Here, in seven out of ten cases, and even more with posh dudes, it meant that he longed to order something utterly ridiculous, with a long name, six ingredient and maybe some speculoos dust uptop, but didn’t have the courage too. Honestly, the way grown men start acting once there’s pumpkin spice on the menu is hilarious – you’d think we’re selling sex toys under the table.

♡ bakugou x belle (oc) : origin story - belle and bakugou are like passing ships in the night for most of their early lives — always barely grazing sails, never boarding onto one anothers deck — until bakugou has a public media snafu and is required by his agency to perform public service hours to make up for his bad behavior. he meets the now-doctor and realizes there's a lot more to her than meets the eye. however, she has a general disdain for heroes after what she's been through (being forced to use her quirk despite not knowing how to control it, all for "the sake of saving others") and what she's seen (hero after hero break their bones and shatter their spirits in the name of justice, only to be cast aside when they no longer provide enough entertainment value to be leveraged for the lining of the pockets of those in charge), when all bakugou knows is striving to be the number one hero. aka I suck at summaries but I promise this fic is gonna be real good.

♡ vigilante!shouto aka todobats — after losing shouto's father and brothers in a kidnapping gone wrong, shouto's mother is labeled clinically insane and his sister runs away to europe to pursue her dreams and escape reality. shouto is the only eligible heir remaining to run the enterprise his father built before his death. the media sees him as the rich playboy he proves himself to be during the day, but what they do not see is the way he cares for the city once the sun goes down and the stars come out. when he meets the charity organization's president (reader), he's surprised to find that the corruption of his city may bleed closer to home than he originally believed.

♡ fantasy!bakugou + arranged marriage — after your father angered a wizard, there was a dual curse set on your head, the threat of your kingdom's demise looming in the shadows that settle on your shoulders. the curse is that you would be expected to fall in love by your twenty second birthday, and that you would be given the gift of persuasion. the catch? you are unable to use your gift to trap a life mate. prince bakugou katsuki of the dragon nation was the only eligible prince remaining, and so your game of lies begins. your father arranges the marriage, and you are expected to seduce the prince. however, the two of you decide that the only way to win over the wizard is to trick him — by convincing the entire kingdom you're madly in love. (again WOW i suck at summaries i promise the fic will be good lol, lots of plot twists involving bakugous mother and kirishima and wizards and quirks and.. yeah)

♡ moving target part two [bakugou bodyguard au] —bakugou has returned to life as a pro hero, with a personal side mission to teach you how to use your quirk [control over organic matter]. now that its been exposed to the world that one of the most famous quirkless men has a daughter with a power that can kill, there is a new gang after your head. navigating a new relationship, learning how to control a power you've never used, and running from the underground can be a lot for a girl who might have been considered a princess not more than a few months ago. oh, however will you cope.

♡ soft!sakusa fic — you have been telling all your friends about the man you've been seeing for the past few months, and they can't wait to meet him. you tell them he's kind and patient and complimentary and he cannot get enough of you, handsy as he can be. so imagine their surprise when you introduce sakusa kiyoomi, a man they know as cold and calculating and aloof. this man and the man you've described could never be the same! (aka a cute fic about sakusa being soft for you and standoffish for everyone else)

♡ sakusa autumn nights fic - fake dating au + there was only one bed + meet the parents — sakusa meets you one night when he's out at a party with his msby teammates. he's confused, but smitten with you, and when his mother badgers him for what feels like the millionth time about a girlfriend, he accidentally blurts that he's dating you. somehow he gets roped into bringing you to dinner, but... he's gotta get your number first.

♡ mob au + pro athlete!oikawa x con-artist!reader — you have only ever known how to be a thief. its how you've found yourself a home in this argentinian casino every saturday night, scheming and cheating and lying just to feed your greed. and those whom you owe money to. so you do not expect the kindness of the pro athlete you know to be oikawa tooru, but that does not stop you from draining him of every last peso to his name. his flashy rings and watches and suit all show you exactly what you need to know- that he has money, and he's careless with it. the car he drives says as much. but after finding him at the casino every weekend, you grow fond of him, and its no longer a game of dollar signs, but one of hearts and souls. so when there is a hit placed on your head by the mob who owns the casino, you have to come clean to oikawa in hopes that he will understand your predicament.

♡ farmboy!kirishima — your typical hallmark movie. no ingenuity at all lol. but you are the daughter of a ceo tycoon in nyc, and all your daddy wants to do is buy up small towns and commercialize them for profit, to make them look picture perfect like a snowglobe. you are his number one real estate agent, and he sends you on a mission to buy up a small town a few hours away. when you meet the townsfolk, including the man who owns the farm that puts the food on the table for most of the residents, can he change your outlook on small towns versus the big city?

♡ college sports au series - bakugou, todoroki, midoriya, denki, kirishima, sero, dabi, etc. — a series of x reader one shots where the boys are college athletes! baseball bakugou, soccer shouto, football kirishima, etc!

♡ single dad!bakugou x kindergarten teacher!reader — when bakugou is left to care for his daughter alone, kirishima suggests hiring a caretaker to help him out. after much persuasion, and his daughter latching onto you at first meeting, he hires you for the summer while you're between school years and can use the extra cash. you move in, and the rest is chaos. [ft. emotionally stunted bakugou who believes love is for losers because his last relationship ended in fire and procreation, but you manage to teach him that life doesn't have to be as awful as he believes] aka a spin off of my single dad shouto fic! might continue to add more single dads and make this one a series too!!

Today, I will be going into complex worldbuilding, which is a shorter way of saying all the small details I like to think of for  very specific reasons. Complex worldbuilding serves a very specific purpose to me. It asks the deeper and hyper specific questions about your world and society. A lot of these details are not even so much as mentioned or brought up in your actual wip, to be honest, but they are— in my opinion — vital in creating a sense of realism in the world. 

They are meant to give YOU as the author a grasp of your own world. To make it real. To understand the inner workings. It helps reduce plot holes. It gives you insight to the society and thus helps you create every other aspect of your book (the plot, the characters, the customs, the relationships, etc).

So let's get into it:

Setting: 

Locations: I want you to tell me every possible location in your world that you can think of. As specific as you possibly can. Here’s a list of places your characters can visit. Tell me the name of this place in your civilization. How many are there in your city/town/village. What is it’s purpose? What can you receive at this place? How do you get there (fr, I actually want you to make directions). Make a detailed map with a legend and label these locations if it helps with directions. 

General things about the country: 

What are geographical landmarks ?

National parks 

Is there an ocean nearby? A mountain range? 

Where is the smallest village in the country located? 

Tell me how life is like there. How is it different to the large city What places can you access there? What are some places you cannot find here?

Where is the biggest city? 

The capital? 

The wilderness? 

How much wildlife is in your country? (this is very telling about the values of your government; if they care about the economy more or using resources vs maintaining them and protecting them. It shows how eco-friendly your government is)

About the main city/town/village/hamlet/tribe

Suppose a tourist were to visit. What’s the first location you’d take them. 

The tourist attractions or landmarks 

Where’s the nearest transit (if there is one)?

Where's the nearest gas station?

What types of schools are located in this city? (very telling about the value of education and the literacy rate; can dictate your character’s voices and personalities) 

Private schools?

How are their attitudes different than public school kids, if they are at all?

Who funds these schools?

How does the education here differ from other schools?

Public schools?

What is the curriculum like? 

What is the attitude + values of these schools?

What courses are typical + mandatory?

Religious schools

How are they different from the other schools?

Who funds them?

What is public opinion about them?

What are the kids like?

Pre-school? 

Elementary?

Middle School?

High school?

Any universities or colleges?

How are the campuses like?

How does this affect life for the locals?

Healthcare institutes:

Where would I go for the common cold?

Where would I get medication from?

Is medication free/covered by insurance? 

Is healthcare free? (says a lot about government values, economy/taxes, public health and safety, life expectancy)

Is healthcare accessible? [why or why not?)

Is it privatized or is it public, or can it be both?

Where would I go for a burn?

What are emergency responders like (do you have ambulances, paramedics, etc)? What do they do/respond to? Where would they take you? 

Where would you go for a chronic illness? 

How is it like to live at the hospital? Is it expensive, or covered?

Is it a safe environment, or underfunded? Is it hopeful, or does it feel like a death area? 

How accessible is it to stay inpatient?

Emergency services:

Where is the closest police station?

Approximate response time?

Where is the closest fire station?

Approximate response time?

How do people receive emergency mental health help?

What do these institutions do? How effective are they? 

Restaurants?

Grocery stores?

Malls + markets?

Fast food institutions?

Coffee shops and diners + pubs?

Parks? 

The bank?

(if there is agriculture)

The barns 

The milking stations

The fields 

Different crop fields + how they are traded + exported

Water source + irrigation?

Now give me the population of your capital + cities

And if you’re wondering… yes, I do try and answer all these questions in my writing journal. I think I’m still sane LOL

Weather: 

Where is the nicest weather in your country?

Which city has the most rain? The most snow? 

Where is it the hottest? The coldest? The chilliest? 

Where is it the windiest? 

Bonus points to describe what locals do to protect their houses against such harsh winds

How does the weather affect lifestyle? 

How does it affect attitudes and the accessibility of certain institutions? What about the products you receive 

Winter coats and snow boots wouldn't be popular in the hottest city in the country

How does the weather affect culture?

Any specific holidays for the switch of weather or seasons?

Does it hold a symbolic value (i.e. thunderstorms in the summer is an ominous sign) 

Where are there the most storms? 

What are the impacts of these storms?

Any natural disasters? How prevelant are they? What does the government + NGO’s + locals do about it?

Transportation:

How do people travel in this world? This country? This city? 

How convenient is it?

What is the approximate travel time between locations (refer back to the map and directions made under ‘Setting’)

What are the fares (if any) for these modes of transportation?

Who regulates transportation?

What is the accessibility for people with disabilities for transportation?

8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.

I don’t usually listen while I write (it gets too distracting!!), but sometimes I listen beforehand to get into the mood of writing a particular character. I’ve been writing Forte a lot recently, and King And Lionheart has some really strong Forte vibes.

9. Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic?

AUs!! (Closely followed by canon-compliant, but the AU is just so full of worldbuilding possibilities!)

10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?

Probably dialogue? Long blocks of text make me pretty uncomfortable, and with dialogue, I can fall into a nice rhythm of characters doing things and noticing things while they talk. It gives the action space to breathe.

17. What fic are you most proud of?

The Starry Night fic I wrote for a friend of mine a while back. (It’s technically a fic of a fic she wrote, but her OCs are fleshed out well enough that they’re basically a stand-alone work at this point.) It was a short 3k fic centered on a character’s first winter holiday with her new husband after moving to the city. Maybe I should brush it up and post it at some point... Just now realizing how little fic I actually post lol

24. How did you come up with title for [x fic]?

Titles are usually really difficult for me-- like, my current WIP is named “the forte thing.docx” and that’s not gonna change until I’m done with it. 

30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.

Hmm so I’m not super great at real longfic, but if I were to write one... A TAZ: Balance Pacific Rim AU!! The Hunger sends over big scary shadow beings via the connections between the planes, and we Build Robots To Fight!!

We start off with Taako and Lup. They’re very popular pilots and are met with great success, but Lup falls out of the Jaegar and into the ocean during a vicious attack from the Hunger. She goes missing, and after a few months of searching for his sister, a grieving Taako vanishes from the public eye.

Years later, Lucretia comes back with a last-ditch plan to sever the Hunger’s connection to their plane forever. Taako reluctantly agrees, and they begin screening for candidates...

Lup, meanwhile, has been waiting tables in a small, isolated costal community after washing up on shore. She remembers nothing, until she sees a Jaeger documentary on TV one day, and she instinctively flinches when the right side is hit. After the battle, she and some other guy with her face are interviewed, and now, she wants answers. When Lucretia leads her into the Shatterdome and tells her Taako will be so happy to see her again, Lup blinks and asks, “Who?”

Mostly, the rest of the fic consists of Lup and Taako using the drift to work their way through reconstructing Lup’s memory. It’s a rough process, but they work through it. Together!! Best siblings time!

Barry is the Shatterdome’s lead scientist and expert on the Hunger. Lup doesn’t remember him anymore, and he’s trying so, so hard not to make it weird because she clearly doesn’t remember. Meanwhile Lup wonders first why Barry feels so familiar, and then, once she remembers more, why Barry’s acting so distant. Did he find someone else while she was gone? Did his feelings change? If so, better not make it weird!! The potential for mutual pining is so good!

Magnus and Julia protect the Raven’s Roost border, and it’s been unbreached for as many years as they’ve been in service. Merle drifts with the Hunger multiple times. Overall, it’s a fun concept!! (Even though I probably won’t ever actually write it properly, haha)

This would explain a manner of things: his evasiveness whenever probed about his job; the way he’d unpredictably throw out incisive, thoughtful commentary about the morning news over breakfast; his expensive tastes in shirts, watches, and wallets alike; why he’d want to stay here with Yuuri, of all places, when the contents his wardrobe alone could probably afford him a year-long stay at any condominium of his choice in the trendiest part of town.

And then he goes on to discover that Viktor actually has a premium account on club penguin, and that his five penguins are named Peanut Wigglebutt, Luke skyhopper, Zing Zing, Otto Von Longdong, and Mooshoo Vegetable, and beats the idea to death in his head.

• High quality hyper realistic amazing Yuuri the medical student being a mess, Viktor being a mystery but still a dork. Cute romance!!

My 11 Questions

First time I've been tagged in one of these. Thanks @ta-dala!

My 11 Questions are: 1. What is the “craziest” thing you’ve done for the love of something?

It's probably too tame to be considered crazy, but I shuffled my financial priorities and scratched up enough money to go to New Orleans Comic Con, held the first weekend of January 2017. Turns out I didn't have to skip a bill payment to pay for a meet-and-greet with Carrie Fisher, but my baby sister and her husband got iced in at Alexandria and couldn't go with me. So I jumped up in the Carrie Fisher memorial service the con held and got to tell Peter Mayhew, his wife, T-Bob Hebert, and everyone else there what me and my sister had planned on telling Carrie: my sister's legal name is Leia and it's both our faults.

LOL, okay, really the crazy is that story. I like to joke that Mom had her kids with the Star Wars films: I'm 1977, second daughter 1980, and my baby sister was born January 12, 1984. <i>Return of the Jedi</i> was one of the first films I got to see in the actual theater with my father. This was the pre-VCR days, so I guess I knew the other two from TV showings and storybooks because I knew the story rabidly. So that was 1983 whenever the local theater got the movie.

Fast forward to January 1984. My parents can't agree on my baby sister's name and bring her home from the hospital without one. Mom insists on all of us having the same set of initials and they finally decided on a first name that didn't make the cut when I was born. The middle name was harder, so she called six-year-old me and my three-year-old sister into her bedroom while she was resting and asked us for L-names. "Leia! It's gotta be Leia, Leia's the best name in the whole galaxy!" If you're guessing my three-year-old sister didn't get a suggestion, you would be right. So the baby of the family has Leia on her birth certificate and now she uses it instead of her first name (which turned out to be one of those every other girl has a variation of the same name for her age group).

2. What is your ultimate bucket-list travel destination? Europe, though I'd really like to spend more time off the beaten touristy paths or live somewhere to become localized. Or if that's not possible, one of the river cruises. But I'd settle for one of the whirlwind tours of the capital cities just to say I've gone.

3. Cats or dogs? Cats, even though I'm cat-less right now. But my parents have a dog so I have proof that I am most definitely a cat person.

4. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? Right now, I'd settle for a country in which the prevailing attitude looking at United State politics is "what the hell is wrong with those people?" This is also the attitude of a time in the future to live in if I had a time machine.

5. Write me a piece of advise that you’d go back and give to your younger self. Speaking of the time machine, lol. Okay, kid, Mom sent you off to college without telling you that PCOS runs in the family and that leads to diabetes. You have it so here is an eating plan so all the free sugar you're about to get exposed to doesn't lead to weight gain that I'm still struggling with and hopefully we'll put off the diabetes diagnosis for a few more years.

6. Share one sentence of something you’ve written and tell me why you like it. “If you feed them and treat them nicely, they’ll do just about anything you ask of them.” -- Luke from the Byss AU. In canon, Palpatine's clone used Sith alchemy to change rancors to chrysalis rancors. Luke doesn't approve and explains why.

7. Can you still love/be a fan of something/someone and be critical of a choice or decision? Why or why not? That depends. Works put out for public consumption are fair game and fanworks are having a critical conversation with the source material. But the closer you are to the creator, the more tact you should have. "What kind of feedback are you looking for?" should be asked. Critical of a choice or decision should never be a personal attack but a way to make the work or the next work better.

8. Rogue One. Dead or alive?  ;) I'm good with both. Zombie Rogue One FTW! Kidding. In my Rescue the Farmboy AU (current WIP), the mission happened pretty much as on screen without Leia's involvement as a way to get the Death Star plans (she and her copy of the plans ended up on Tatooine) and the Rogue Squadron will be formed in their memory. But I'm enjoying everyone else's stories in which they live.

9. You can only eat one food the rest of your life. What is it? Meat, but you better give me a variety. Diabetes cuts out a lot of fun with these answers.

10. Give me your Desert Island Discs list. Okay limited to eight. Imagine Dragons and Florence + the Machine are high on my replay right now along with Star Wars soundtracks, but those are mostly for inspiration purposes. *Sigh* I know I'd get annoyed with the selection before long. I'd actually probably take the fanmixes I've made for various fics instead. That'll be a bigger selection of musical genres.

11. What is your favorite curse word? I tend to drop the f-bomb far too regularly according to my mother. But it's so versatile a word!
