Two days later...
Cara and I go out shopping and have lunch for a girl’s day. I have yet to talk about the other night with Sam. Cara hasn’t mentioned it and I have no plans to either. Cameras have followed us up and down Rodeo Drive. By this point, Cara and I are both used to it. Carrying my bags however, I doubt I look graceful for these videos their taking. Oh well, they have fifteen thousand more of me.
“CARA! EXCITED TO WALK IN THE CHANEL FASHION SHOW?”
Cara ignores the paparazzi and points out a dress in the window at Dolce and Gabbana. I request to go inside to try it on. I’m not sure where I’d wear it to, but that doesn’t really matter.
“Welcome ladies!” A woman in a black dress approaches. “Can I help you find anything in particular?”
I point over to the dress in the window, “could I see that in a size six please?”
She leaves us to go find the dress for me and we roam around a small section while she does. My phone rings and I see Nicole’s name pop up. My heart immediately begins to race. She doesn’t call me unless absolutely necessary, usually we text. I step away toward the corner to be discreet.
I answer the call hesitantly. “Nicole? What’s up?”
“I got a call from Stephanie,” she sounds agitated on the other end.
Stephanie is my publicist, she handles everything that Nicole can’t basically. They bicker a lot since they’re both so headstrong and constantly need control. It’s the classic good cop/bad cop scenario, yet I don’t know who’s who. These two cover every aspect of my career, God bless them.
“Oh no, sounds bad,” I grumble anxiously.
“Depends how you look at it,” she lightens her tone.
“What is it?” I press.
“Well…” she hesitates.
“Nicole!” I drag out her name.
“It’s all over social media, magazines and it will be on TMZ tonight,” she stammers. “I’m surprised you haven’t already heard if I’m being honest-”
“Nicole! What?” I rush her.
“An article about you and Colson Baker just dropped on some gossip sight,” she explains. “It says that you and Colson Baker are dating. Stephanie and I figured no one would believe it but it’s everywhere! They have videos and photos of you two leaving The Ivy plus talking by Sam’s car. If I didn’t know you, I would be convinced.”
My head hangs low as I rub my forehead, letting out a deep sigh. “Oh dear God.”
“We can handle it, don’t worry!” Nicole assures. “This story will be gone soon!”
“I need to go, talk to you later!” I hang up on Nicole right when the woman shows me the dress.
“I’ll take it” I attempt to hurry up the process.
Cara comes up next to me “don’t you think you should try it on first?”
“I’ll explain later but we need to go” I whisper to her and just like that, she’s hurry the woman along at the register.
I have the dress and exit the store in a rush. I must act cool, the paparazzi will take notice of my mood change.
“HOW’S COLSON, Y/N?”
“SEEING HIM TONIGHT?”
“HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DATING?”
“HOW ARE GONNA HANDEL HIS FANS?”
“HAS HE MET THE FAMILY YET?”
“What’s going on?” Cara asks concerned.
“I’ll explain once we’re somewhere private,” I whisper so the cameras don’t pick up on it.
We speed walk to the car and I offer to drive since I made us cut the day short. Once we’re on the highway towards home Cara asks what the heck is going on.
“Why did they keep asking about Colson?”
I turn on the radio and Elvis Duran, along with his team, are discussing no other than me and Colson.
Danielle summarizes the article for the listeners. “The article says they’ve been dating for the past few months. They’re very happy but the relationship is still new. The pair has not yet met each other’s families but Colson is going on tour soon so maybe Y/N will join him and eventually meet the family. Throughout, there are tons of photos of the cute young couple leaving The Ivy Wednesday night. There’s even a link to a video showing them, what appears to be, having a deep conversation by Sam Merka’s car. If you watch the video, the two are clearly looking at each other very lovingly. I mean, he’s looking at her the way I look at a fresh pizza!”
The rest of the cast laughs and I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Actually, scratch that, I can believe it. I’m just pissed.
“If MGK and Y/N are officially an item, why did she leave with Sam Merka?” Elvis questions.
“I’m glad you asked! According to sources, they’ve been very close friends since the start of TSL. In fact, the duo have taken many vacations together along with their co-star Penelope Glass.”
Cara turns down the volume and looks to me with a steady expression. “Is it true?”
I narrow my gaze at her in bewilderment. “What? No! There’s no way in hell!”
“Okay, just checking,” she lets out a sigh of relief.
“Never ever!” I add and change the station.
Colson Baker is everything I despise in a person. I’ve never hated someone so fast as I’ve hated him. Us together as a couple is impossible. It’s completely irrational.
_________________________________________________________
Later in the afternoon, Stephanie sets up a meeting for us to meet with Colson and his publicist. I had to drag myself to her office. My Fridays aren’t well spent in an office building with enemies. In fact, my whole day could be tarnished by this incident. The meeting room we’re all ushered into is freezing and I’m still in my sundress from earlier. Cara and I were never able to get lunch so I’m starving on top of being cold. The photos of us play in a slideshow on the meeting room’s tv. An endless cycle of false advertisement is how I see the photos. The media is selling us as something completely far from the truth. On top of everything, I’m in a meeting with the one guy in all of Los Angeles I can’t stand. Death would be less painful than the current situation. I tune out the debate between Stephanie and Colson’s publicist. He told me his name but my brain is so numb from the temperature in here I can’t recall it.
“Y/N!” Stephanie calls my name and I search for her around the room until I find her in the doorway with Colson’s publicist.
“We’re going to go make a few phone calls. You two will stay here while we handle the press.” I nod “sounds good.”
I send her a weak smile to charm her out of an apology for zoning out. She huffs and escorts Colson’s guy to her office so they can talk on speaker privately. I stand up from my office chair and stroll over to the windows overlooking the courtyard. I watch the cars zoom by on the street and businessmen and women shuffle in and out of the Starbucks below.
“If it means anything, I’m sorry,” Colson says quietly behind me.
I nearly miss it, he speaks so quietly. I lean against the wall, crossing my arms as I face him.
“You’re sorry?” I shrug, not really seeing his blame. “Why? It’s not your doing.”
I return my gaze to the chaos below us. I watch as people with office jobs travel about. I wonder if they’ve heard of me? I wonder if they like me or think I’m a stuck up actress? I shouldn’t care what people think, but it’s easier said than done. When millions watch TSL every week, it’s hard to ignore the wondering.
“If I hadn’t walked you to the car none of this would be happening,” Colson reasons guiltily.
I shake my head, finding humor in the situation now. The paparazzi can make nothing into a months long romance. A brief conversation outside a restaurant and suddenly we’re meeting each other’s families.
“We were only walking to a car. How could either of us have predicted the amount of attention that would come of us walking?” I justify, not to ease his mind, but my own.
My flicker over to the tv, I examine the slideshow of us. Examining the photos I realize it wasn’t all in my head, the way in which Colson was gazing at me is a tad bit gawk-like. Images of us walking to the car while I’m answering the paparazzi’s questions depict Colson glancing at me with what seems to be such admiration. A picture of when Cara calls for Colson comes up and I’m stunned by how we look. Even I appear to be in awe of him in return. It’s evident Cara is speaking yet neither of us react. We were so caught up within on another.
“I have one question!” I blurt out suddenly with my arms crossed I walk back over to the table. Just one and then I wish to put all of today’s events to rest.” Colson perks up and hums for me to continue. I point over to the photos on the screen “why did you look at me the way you did?”
Turning his head, he reviews the photos blankly and I wait anxiously for some sort of reason. “I’m not looking at you in any particular way,” he disregards my accusations.
I chuckle, amused by his horrible way of lying. “Lies!”
He’s thrown off by my reaction and I storm over to the TV screen to point it out to him.
“It’s clear as day to the press, the public and now me included. You’re clearly lost in some kind of thought! You were there, so was I and our friends! Say all the lies you want but you’ll never convince anyone.”
His jaw clenches and he avoids my gaze. He leans back in his chair, staring out the windows. “Colson,” I sigh, slowly approaching the table. “Maybe the truth could help the lies disappear! If we’re honest then maybe the press will leave us alone!”
He shakes his head low, letting out a brief laugh. “I highly doubt that.”
I have a thousand questions but I’m aware none will go answered. He’s a lost cause. I’m in this alone I guess. Turning my back to him I return to my position by the window. Observing the worker bees swarming around the spaces below. The sound of Colson’s chair rolling back comes from behind me but I don’t even shift. Out of the corner of my eye, I see his figure in the reflection of the window beside me. My attention remains outside. He won’t give me the time of day so why should I treat him any better?
“You wanna know why I looked at you the way I did?” His presence hovers of me and he feels like a wall surrounding me.
“Please,” I mutter a subtle beg.
“I... I had this imagine of you in my head, pre-judgements. You’re supposed to be America’s Sweetheart, Little Miss Perfect! You told me you had been working for this for years, had drive and trails.” He confesses. “You’re not what I expected... It caught me by surprise is all.”
My eyebrows furrow close, “So you thought I was just some pretty face, goody-two-shoes, ditz? If it’s because my image, my past, you said so yourself it doesn’t matter!”
“No, no, that’s not it!” he runs his hand through his hair nervously.
Narrowing my eyes, I press further. “Why then?”
The door swings open and I straighten up before forcing a warm smile to my face. I step back from Colson before the person ever appears in the doorframe. One of Stephanie employees informs us that we’re free to go. Steph doesn’t want to keep me here all day and since I’m allowed to go Colson’s publicist is releasing him. I clasp my hand together, walking over to fetch my purse.
“Thank you so much!” I gush. “Have a good day and please tell Stephanie “thank you!””
The young intern eats up my pleasant expressions. “You too Miss Voss! Will do!”
The young woman shuts the door behind her and I return to the state I was in. Expressionless, I gather my belongings and Colson does the same. Checking my phone for any missed emails or calls I can tell he’s staring me down.
“Does it ever get tiring?” His tone is light, but I can hear the ounce of mockery beneath the surface.
My attention is locked on my phone as text after text pops up from Penelope. She’s more likely than not has seen all the articles and Twitter posts. I should call her and explain.
“Y/N!” Colson shout pulls my from my thoughts.
“Huh? Does it ever get tiring?” I restate his question back to him. “What exactly are we talking about?”
I slide my purse over my shoulder while stepping over to the door, leaving Colson behind. That is until he follows me.
“Your whole act.” He forces a fake smile and tosses imaginary hair over his shoulder. “The “happy go-lucky goody goody All-American girl?””
I scoff, eyeing him up and down. “You’re ridiculous. It’s not an act.”
I swing open the meeting room door, eager to leave here. My heels clink against the white shiny tiles on my walk to the elevators. After hitting the down button, I call up Blake now that I have some time to kill. She’s my oldest friend, I’m sure she sees right through all of the tabloids and is only checking in.
“Calling your boyfriend?” Colson mutters over my shoulder and I quickly move away.
“Don’t have one,” I answer plainly, waiting for Penelope to pick up.
He smirks and props himself up against the wall beside the elevator doors. I side eye him, all he does is smile all the time and he calls me out for acting so happy all the time.
“Can’t you find anyone else to annoy?”
He grins proudly, “sure I could. None would as entertaining as you though.”
“Geez,” I mumble under my breath.
I pace outside the elevators as I wait for one to arrive and for Penelope to answer. Classic of her to text me non-stop but not to answer when I call her back. The elevator doors open and I step inside, ready to get out of here. I hit the ground floor and Colson strolls in lazily not rushed at all. He checks the button and doesn’t add any. The doors shut then silence sits flat in the small space with us. My phone buzzes continuously, I check the name at the top of the screen.
“Frickin’ frackin’!” I clench my teeth together in a growl.
Colson’s eyes widen at my sudden explosion. Closing my eyes, I exhale to calm myself then bring the phone up to my ear. Smiling helps to fake enjoyment when talking to someone on the phone. Sometimes I can fool myself into thinking I’m not miserable during discussions.
“Finn!” I greet. “What’s new?”
My southern accent surfaces. I flip the switch whenever I speak to my family or friends back in South Carolina. I can’t have them thinking I’m not the same Y/N from Charleston. Colson eyes me with his eyebrows raised, surprised by my sudden transition. He makes fun of me in a whisper for my fake enthusiastic voice. I wack him on the arm and it only encourages him more.
“Hi ya Y/N, uh so ya prolly already know butcha face is everywhere along with this MGK fella...” Finn’s voice falters at the end.
I sigh and press my forehead to the wall. Finn asks me if any of what he has read is true and I instantly deny.
My tone goes timid, “who all knows?”
“Just us, Odelle, Greyson and Myself,” he assures.
A sense of relief rushes over me. I turn back around and Colson sends me a sympathetic look, it shocks me. Going from mockery to sympathy from him has my entire mood shifting.
“What ‘bout Momma or Daddy?” I ask, keeping eye contact with Colson.
“Nah, at least I don’t think they do,” Finn guesses. “I’m not entirely sure. Greyson is sayin’ they don’t. He’s the only one that’s home at the moment.”
“Heavens to Betsy,” I exhale deeply, looking up to the heavens. “Let’s hope to the high heavens they don’t. Thank you Finn.”
I go to hang up but he says one last thing. Bringing my phone back up to my ear I reply. “Sorry, missed that.”
My brother becomes stern on the other side, “do you and this guy spend tons of time together?”
I shift uncomfortably, preparing myself for the older brother advice I already see coming. “From time to time but I promise, we’re just friends.”
There’s a pause on his end, an unbearable pause. “I trust you Y/N,” Finn finally speaks. “It’s him I don’t trust. He’s not the best sort of guy. Ya’ll aint right for one another.”
I hope Colson can’t hear any of what Finn is saying. To keep him from becoming suspicious, I keep my replies indifferent. “Sure thing. Uh, talk ya later Finn.”
“Bye, talk to you soon.”
We hang up and I slip my phone into my purse.
Colson leans back onto the railing next to me. “Who was that?”
“My older brother, kinda overbearing,” I laugh nervously then bite my lip. My accent begins to subside again.
“I didn’t know you had a brother,” Colson remarks.
A faint smile appears across my lips thinking of my brothers. “I have two actually and an older sister. The order is Finn, Odelle, me then Greyson.”
Colson returns a kind and gentle smile. “That must’ve been nice to grow up with so many siblings.”
“It was.” I nod as memories flash across my mind. “Finn and Odelle were grouped together and so was me and Greyson since our age gaps are less.”
As we pass each level on the elevator there is a “ding.” Facing toward the doors again, I absentmindedly watch the numbers go down as we pass the levels. My mind wanders to the many memories I’ve made with my brothers and sister.
“Finn is about Sam’s age, so he likes to believe he’s almost a co-parent for me and Grey,” I describe with a pleased expression. “He’s the total opposite of Odelle.”
Colson genuinely shows interest, “how is she?”
“She’s a total wild card! We all joke that it’s every other kid. Finn and I are the rule followers. He was student body president, quarterback of the football team and still managed to graduate with honors. I’m nowhere near him on the perfect child spectrum but I’m supposed to be “America’s Sweetheart.” My parents eat that up. Then there’s Odelle, she’s the total opposite of Finn. My parents had to beg her to improve her grades so she could graduate. I remember being twelve, it was the middle of the night when I got up to get a drink. I went downstairs and saw her sneaking out of the backdoor. She made me promise not to tell our parents. I haven’t talked about it until today. There were days she’d fake being sick just to ditch school with her friends. By her senior year nothing had changed. She ended up graduating but my parents forced her to go to a college close to home so they could keep an eye on her. Her antics continued the entire time I was in high school. College for her was a playground. For some reason, I envied her. I still do. I suppose it’s because no one expects anything from her. She messes up, well, that’s Odelle for you. She causes trouble, just another day. For me, my parents have me up on a peddle stool. By the time I turned sixteen people out here started taking notice of me. When I reached seventeen the title of “America’s Sweetheart” popped up and from then on, I was longer a teenager. I had a role to play and an image to uphold. I could never make mistakes like Odelle. I have to be “perfect” constantly. Sometimes I feel like a doll, plastic. None of it is real.”
The bell rings for the floor. I comprehend the words escaping my mouth and snap back to reality. I revealed so much about myself while I was in that daze, private facts about myself that I’ve never spoken of before.
Straightening up and adjust my dress, I apologize. “I’m so sorry. I have no idea what came over me.” The doors slide open and I step out. “Good to see you Colson,” I rush out a farewell before speed walking towards the exit.
I mentally slap myself for all I confessed. If only Nicole found out, my head would be on a stick. My life, my background, every aspect of my being is supposed to be flawless. An All-American girl from South Carolina with a wholesome up brining is who I’m supposed to be. If word gets out that I’m not so perfect then… then I would be finished. My hand digs for my keys in my purse.
“Y/N! Wait up!” Colson jogs up next to me then steps in front of me, blocking my path.
“Colson, please....” I practically plead in a mutter, stepping around him.
He wraps his hand around my wrist, stopping me. “Let me buy you a drink!”
Workers around us walk around in multiple directions like zombies. I wonder if they’re taking notice. Hesitant, I narrow my gaze at me. The reason we’re in this mess is because we were seen with one another.
“I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” I admit and release myself from his grip.
I only make it a few feet before he’s in front of me again.
“Fine, no to a drink! How about we go get some coffee? Or tea? If you prefer tea!”
His chest rises and falls rapidly, his desperation is evident. The reason behind is desperation is still unknown to me, along with the reason he looked at me the way he did last night. Who is this mysterious man who stands before me? So many questions I wish to ask but I can’t get passed his eyes. Puddles of crystal blue settle on a white canvas. Confused beyond belief, for a reason unbeknownst to me, I accept. Could be my curiosity is getting the best of me.
“Coffee it is,” I give in to his request.
He grins ear to ear and steps to the side so we can leave side by side. “Unless of course you prefer we get tea!” he suggests, sounding a tad nervous.
Honestly I like both drinks but I prefer coffee. He holds the door for me and the bright sunlight of California weather strikes me.
“Nah, I normally drink a cold brew with a shot of espresso,” I describe.
He winces and pretends to gag. “Ew! That sounds horrible!”
“It gives you a boost in the morning! Nice and strong!” I laugh.
“You’re nasty!” He waves his hands in disgust.
“Eh, you’ve called me worse,” I laugh, unfazed by his insult.
He chuckles, “you’re not wrong.”
Our laughing dies down a little as we stroll over to the Starbucks. I peer up at him with a side eye. When our eyes meet we begin laughing again uncontrollably.

Racist Clothing Brands + Black Brands to Buy From Instead:
                                         Racist Brands
Chanel
Chanel has been repeatedly accused of racially profiling Black customers and last year they hired a white woman as head of their "diversity and inclusion" department.
Gucci
Gucci has a complicated history with the Black community, stemming from them all but trying to destroy Dapper Dan's business only to hire him two decades later. Most recently they came under fire for releasing a sweater that had suspiciously Blackface elements and stealing designs from Black designers.
Prada
Prada has a similar history and they recently had to apologize after releasing a collection of monkey key chains.
Dior
Dior's most recent fragrance campaign came under fire for racist undertones but a Black Hollywood stylist also gave BET.com an account of an incident that she had with a brand. The stylist requests to remain anonymous says, "they compromised our creative relationship by not following through on requests and instead loaning looks that were promised to me to white actors instead."
Celine
Celine's branding is notoriously extremely thin and extremely white. A quick scroll of their social media will reveal exactly their opinion on Black lives.
Barney’s
Before going bankrupt, Barney's had to pay out a settlement in a racial discrimination case of $525k to two plantiffs.
Moda Operandi
A former employee of the company released this thread on Moda Operandi, citing several micro aggressions she suffered there.
Burberry
Burberry issued an apology after releasing a sweater featuring a noose motif.
Tommy Hilfiger
In 1996, Tommy Hilfiger famously made comments against the Black community and has since clarified what he meant, but the hurt in the community lingers.
Moschino
Managers discriminated against black customers who did not appear to be rich or famous.
“If a potential black client was not a celebrity and did not have an outward appearance of money via diamonds or name brands, defendant [Ranna] Selbak called them a ‘Serena’ to other sales associates and wanted the ‘Serena’ to be closely watched,” according to the complaint.
Versace
A former male Versace employee sued Versace for allegedly firing him after his manager realized he was Black.
Zara
Zara was accused of using racial code words for black and Latinx customers. The Center for Popular Democracy surveyed 251 Zara employees in New York City about the retailer’s practices. Poll respondents said that when the term “special order” was used at the store, employees were to find the location of the shoppers in question and follow them around. Black customers were most often described as “special orders,” according to the survey results.
Reformation
They were criticised for their internal practices by a black former employee, Elle Santiago. Santiago said she was denied work promotions in favor of white colleagues, as well as being ignored by the company founder, Yael Aflalo, because of her race.
“Being overlooked and undervalued as a woman of color who worked and managed their flagship store for three years was the hardest,” Santiago wrote in an Instagram post picked up by industry watchdog Diet Prada. “I cried many times knowing [that] the color of my skin would get me nowhere in the company.”
Urban Outfitters
“As one of very few PoC [people of color] I quickly noticed the toxic environment I’d joined,” says the former employee, who wishes to remain anonymous. “Within my first month my manager made a flippant racist comment in regards to an Uber I’d called; the driver’s name was Muhammad. Her comment was, ‘You would get a Muhammad’ – in what I can only take as a comment made because of my heritage.
“There’s no PoC in the executive team and very little representation of PoC in head office, on the website, marketing campaigns and within the retail management teams.”
The company has a history of producing offensive items of clothing, including a seemingly blood-spattered T-shirt seen as a reference to the 1970 Kent State shootings; a T-shirt in a color named “Obama/Black”; another featuring a six-pointed badge, which seemed to allude to the Star of David badge that Jewish people were forced to wear during the Holocaust; and a racially insensitive Navajo line which used the Navajo nation name illegally.
Dolce & Gabbana
Ads, featured a Chinese woman struggling to eat spaghetti and pizza with chopsticks.
Comme des Garçons
White models wore wigs of traditional Black people’s hairstyles during its men’s autumn/winter 2020 show.
                                             BLACK BRANDS
ASATA MAISE
This designer transforms vintage fabrics into unique pieces that are made to be photographed. I mean, this whole slideshow of looks is A-R-T. Of course, being a one-person business can be overwhelming, so if you have the means, you can donate to Asata's GoFundMe which will provide her with equipment to keep up with demand.

summary: she doesn't like that anyone would die to feel his touch because she wants to be his gold rush.
WARNINGS: drinking, fluff-ish
Tumblr media
The sound of champagne flutes clinking paired with indiscernible conversations and laughter floated around the room while she mingled. While discussions with castmates, crew workers, writers, and reputable directors flowed, her feet were getting achier, and a mild tension headache was building from her temples. Taking a deep breath, she excused herself from an animated conversation about the latest Hollywood affair and its politics alongside the movie release starring the couple. On a good day, she would have entertained the conversation while politely attempting to steer it in a different direction, but today wasn't one of those days, the champagne was too sweet, borderline frat party punch, and the air was too stuffy. Placing her fourth empty glass on a server's tray, she slinked out of the room to the nearest balcony.
Cool night air caressed her bare shoulders and combed through her loose hair as her eyes swept the yellow-hued illuminated city. In the serene moment, she felt the adrenaline of many months of shooting seep out of her and trickle back into the party, where it belonged. This wasn't her scene; it wasn't anyone's scene. Despite the excitement radiating from every person's hand that she shook in that room, she felt the exhaustion of the castmates from early shoots, the crew workers from setting up and cleaning up after hours every day, the writers from putting their hearts in their hand and their pens to paper, and the directors who made sure every word of the script was done justice on the big screen.
A flurry of camera shutter sounds and eager photographers shouting brought her out of her trance. She peered over the edge of the balcony and observed the scene unfolding at the entrance. One look at the sleek black BMW, and she knew who the chauffeur would reveal when he opened the door. Glancing back at the party, she sighed knowing the level of schmoozing in the joint was going to increase once the man in the car stepped in rapidly. Stubbornly she refused to step back in and be a part of the atmosphere that would exponentially boost his ego. The chatter swelled from below the balcony, and against her better judgment, she glanced over.
Even at over an hour late, photographers looked at Hugh Ransom Drysdale like he was the answer to all their editorial wishes. Fitted in a deep maroon Dolce and Gabbana tux with material that looked like mohair and leather dress shoes embossed with the double Gucci G's on the sides, he faced the left, favoring the right side of his face and aimed a smirk at the largest camera of the bunch.
Taking a few steps down the red carpet, he ran a hand through his perfectly quaffed hair, leaving a single strand to linger over his temple while the rest fell right back into place. How he managed to look sleek and expensive while maintaining a grounded "I just woke up like this" vibe was beyond her, but she would never say that to his Adonis-like face.
A chorus of, "Thank you, Ransom", rang across the rope line as he reached the end of the carpet. With a quick eyebrow flicker and a cocky half-grin, he acknowledged the crowd and headed inside. She scoffed and ran a hand through her hair, huffing irritably as the front strands fell awkwardly into her face and not elegantly like Ransom's. A drink sounded good right about now, but if she went in, she'd have to face the music that was Ransom's siren song, ignoring the possible repercussions she made her decision.
Slipping back into the room, she walked the perimeter of the room, hoping to avoid getting sucked into a conversation on her way to the open bar.
"Can I get a to-go cup full of the Pinot Noir?" The bartender raised his eyebrows in mild concern at the strange order but moved to grab the wine and a paper cup.
"Would you like ice in this?" He snarkily quipped as if to imply that someone who was unsophisticated enough to order wine in a to-go cup wouldn't know that ice diluted the full-bodied notes of the wine.
"Is that the Belle Glos Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley because in that case, I would-"
"No, she won't have ice in that. Pour it into a glass for me, will you? And you, what are you doing ordering red wine in a to-go cup like some kind of broke alcoholic college student?" Ransom smiled smugly at her like he just saved her from a career-ending scandal. She glared up at him, accidentally making direct eye contact with his stupidly pretty ocean eyes. She let her eyes trace his clean-shaven jaw down to his disgustingly broad shoulders. How the hell could someone look so broad in a blazer? He chuckled knowingly as she "discreetly" checked him out.
"Are you done yet?" She wanted so badly to wipe that smug look off his face. Ransom Drysdale not looking smug was nearly impossible. She remembers the time he took one too many steps back and fell into the pool, shirt, jeans, shoes, and all, and didn't look the least bit embarrassed, whereas she fled the scene out of second-hand embarrassment.
Looking him dead in the eye, "Put the wine back in the cup, with ice, please." Narrowing her eyes, she shoved a finger against his chest, "My wine, my choice." She could tell from the way his jaw clenched he was getting irritated with her bit.
"Darling, you don't know-"
"Ah, there you are, Ransom. Have I introduced you to my wife Mrs. Edwards?" The older lady grasped Ransom's hand that he'd robotically stuck out as he's been conditioned to greet people at such large gatherings with both of her hands and tugged him towards her, placing obnoxiously loud air kisses on either side of his face.
From her angle perched on the barstool, she could spy the grimace on Ransom’s face as the lady gushed in a thick British accent about his latest film and how captivated she was by the chemistry he had with his costar.
“You didn’t tell me your wife was so charming. I might have to steal her after this”, Ransom stage-whispered to the director. Mrs. Edwards let out a raucous laugh and placed her hand on Ransom’s bicep while he joined in her laughter with deep chuckles of his own.
“Ransom was an absolute pleasure to work with on this film and so was his costar-” As if on cue, there was an audible sound of someone chewing ice behind them. The director and his wife turned around at the sound to find, said costar sheepishly grinning at them while holding a styrofoam cup in her hand. She placed the cup on the bar, stood up, and straightened her dress to appear somewhat professional and held out a hand to Mrs. Edwards.
But before she could introduce herself, Mrs. Edwards cut in, “Is that wine in a take-out cup? That reminds me of my college days, such good times. Especially because I met this one.” Mrs. Edwards giggled and gently bumped her husband’s shoulder. “You’re absolutely adorable, sweetie.” She politely smiled at the director’s wife and started a conversation with her about behind the scenes on set and all the little quirks her husband had while he was directing. While Mrs. Edwards was speaking about a trip she’d taken to Australia with her husband where he nearly lost a limb near the dingo enclosure, she felt a warm hand placed on the small of her back. She side-eyed Ransom only to find that he had been inconspicuously tugging her into his side during the conversation, she was practically standing with her back pressed against his chest.
Mr. Edwards checked his watch before wrapping an arm around his wife’s waist. “We should go now. We only planned on dropping by for a couple minutes but then I saw my boy Ransom and just had to stop by and say hi. Also, we have a dinner in a week to discuss the possibility of a sequel.”
“Oh look at them. They’re practically cuddling.” Mrs. Edwards pointed out to her husband.
“I simply can’t help not being close to her. It’s like muscle memory from our days on set.” Ransom smoothly responded as he ran his hand up and down her back in soothing motions. Mrs. Edwards smiled knowingly and reached over to interlace her fingers with her husbands. Another round of air kisses and the Edwards left the premise.
She turned on Ransom as soon as they left, furious. “I’m not a prop for you to earn some brownie points with.”
He poked her chest lightly with his index finger and leaned down, brushing her nose with his. “It’s good press for the movie, sweetheart. Don’t get ahead of yourself. See you at the dinner.” He tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, finger softly caressing the side of her cheek. Her eyes reflexively fluttered shut as she leaned into his exuding warmth.
The air suddenly turned cold and when she opened her eyes, he was already being whisked off to another conversation leaving her with nothing but a styrofoam cup in one hand and the dizzying scent of his woodsy cologne dancing around her.

APRIL 23RD, FRIDAY, 2:33 PM. THE THAMES FOYER AT THE SAVOY. WEARING DOLCE & GABBANA. FT. @labellemadone.
If Jessica had her way, and she usually did, she wouldn’t even be in London today. She had always preferred being around her marketing team in person, but after the past few days, she’d realized that she would much rather be with her family in Surrey—especially because, as she waited at the elegant foyer of the Savoy, she realized that this room, with its intricate domed atrium and pristine white tablecloths holding golden tea kettles and three-tiered stands of finger sandwiches, overlooked none other than the Thames.
Perhaps it was fitting. The Thames was a constant for someone who’d grown up in London and had experienced events ranging from awkward first dates at the London Eye to the annual fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. But this year, it had only been the location of chaos: the breaking of the Truce, when she’d watched her uncle stumble in the snow, a knife between his ribs. And more recently, a fight at the riverside, and hints at alliances that made no sense to a woman who knew a little more about Pestilence than she should. Which was why, though Jess was sure that Ravi was checking in with his crew—she missed the constant pinging of their group chat already—it would make her feel better to see Belladonna, who she knew had been caught up in the confusion, with her own two eyes. Hence this conversation on the screen of Jessica Reyes’ iPhone 12 Pro Max:
jessica ➝ bella 🥀: hola! i’m in the foyer enjoying the ambience jessica ➝ bella 🥀: the middle-aged lady opposite me is telling her friends about the younger man she met on tinder jessica ➝ bella 🥀: spicy 👀 jessica ➝ bella 🥀: lmk when you’re on your way so i can look pretty! 😘
As Jessica leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs, her mind wandered to Ky, to Zahra, to Ophelia. Then, as she saw a familiar face, she straightened in her seat, lips relaxing into a relieved smile. “Bella!” Jessica reached up to pull her friend into a warm but light embrace as she approached. “It’s so good to see you. How have you been?” It was a casual enough question for small talk, but it could be the opening for something more serious, whenever Bella was ready. Then, as if all they would be doing was gossip, she added, a playful smirk pulling at the corner of her lips, “Tell me everything.”

Egoistic: Bruce Wayne x Reader
I am in love with MAMAMOO and I like how this song inspired by this. I am just a random writer writing random content depending on what inspires me or what comes to my mind but I do hope to some of you who would read this one-shot would like this. So I have no particular bias in mamamoo but I just thought moonbyul would be perfect as Reader-chan. now Enjoy!!
part II
Egoistic: Bruce Wayne x Reader
Tumblr media
I foolishly adjusted to you and it’s torturing me
Making me lonely till the end
-          Egoistic: Mamamoo
Bruce Wayne, the notorious philanthropist, and playboy in the city of Gotham. The man that captured hearts of many and had bedded some of a few. A man of power and looks as he is not only a wise man but a total lady killer as well.
Then came he alters ego, none other than the Dark Knight himself, Batman. A hero he calls himself yet he does the most despicable things to every villain he encounters. He embosses cruelty and violence that he knows that will strike fear to every dirt lingering in his city.
Only a few people know that these only masked. Specifically two people. Alfred Pennyworth: The Wayne Family Butler and Y/n L/n: The Childhood Best friend.
There was also Selina Kyle, but she cannot really penetrate his wall. Yet.
What she and Bruce had been considerably more than just a fling. They had their nights together as they let themselves lost in their desires. And the man seems to not mind at all as he is starting to consider the woman as the only person who understands him. The man was truly and Egoist.
Too encased with the idea that he was a man who lost everything. A man who wants to rid the society of its parasites and pest. A hero equipped with the most convenient ways to help people of Gotham. And he had a perfect companion in his goals, Cat woman. Although a criminal but Selina did things for the good, well most of the time.
Y/n was nothing compared to Selina. The moment the woman entered her best friend’s life, it was she never existed in Bruce’s life. The way she would break with every conversation they would have about the said vixen vigilante made her blood boil and heartbreak all the time. But what can she do?
“What can I do?” Y/n mumbled to herself as she stood before Wayne mansion.
The skies thundered, heavy droplets of rain drizzled endlessly that night. Flashes of lightning gave glimpses of her peripherals from the metal fences, the shrubbery. She cast her eyes upward and from her spot, she had a perfect view of his bedroom window. The light was on in his room. She saw a silhouette of two figures inside before the light disappeared and so did the breath from her lips.
It was one of those nights where Selina would come home with Bruce from his patrol. Another night of sheer bliss from both of them. And another night of torment for Y/n.
Eyes never leaving the same window, Y/n remained in her spot as the rain continue to drench her from head to toe. Droplets of water missing with the salty ones that slid along her cheeks from her glassy eyes. The pattering of rain was being accompanied by small sounds of light sobs.
And from that night, she vowed. That this will be the last time Bruce Wayne will make her cry.
^^^^^^
It’s been a couple of years now. Bruce has seen his best friend who left him with nothing but a letter of confession. At first, he was oblivious of his best friend’s disappearance until one day he asked his trusty butler to why the sudden absence of woman. Alfred replied with silence before handing his master an envelope.
There is a saying where in order for someone to realize their feelings for that person is for them to lose that said person. And that he just did.
The closest person he considers as a family had gone off somewhere after verbatim-ly confessing in a letter that she can no longer resist that pain she has to feels upon seeing him in bed with another. And it was made more difficult years later when he realizes that there were still differences between him and Selina. She can handle publicity, unlike Y/n who handles everything for Bruce.
It was hard to function for him for a while before he met Dick.
Bruce is now as at a party, Mayor Garcia had somewhat called up all people from around to for the ball. Of course him being a big shot, it would almost seem impossible for him to not be invited. With that opportunity, he brought his son’s along with him yet they all went to separate directions later after a few minutes of entering the venue.
The party had an unknown purpose as the said leader of the city stated that it was just another celebration.
Damian Wayne was keeping himself occupied by marveling all the pieces that seem to be sponsored at the party.
“An Obra Maestra in my opinion. Maybe I should get one for my room or maybe two?” the young Wayne boy stared at work with utmost admiration and respect. He was entranced by each stroke on every canvass, hook, line, and sinker. The colors working along with the movements and directions. There was something aggressive with each one that Damian cannot explain.
Soon he came through an empty hall, littered with more canvasses. Each art contained different messages now but he could tell the artist was still the same person.
Although he was rather drowned out with admiring one particular piece where it was a portrait of a Sabertooth sitting in a calm meadow with a Robin fluttered upon its snout. Both animals didn’t show any discomfort but rather a pinch of sparks fly. “You like art?”
Damian didn’t turn as he was still engrossed with the painting mumbled small ‘Yeah’.
Y/n smiled, her eyes from the boy turned to the painting hung on the wall. “What do you think this piece talks about?” The boy still didn’t turn his gaze away from the painting but manage to muster a reply.
“It tells about a Robin that had fallen with a Predator.” Y/n hummed, “How do you know it’s a love story kid?” Damian’s green eyes sparkled with curiosity as he analyzed the said piece. “I don’t but I like to think that the Robin had fallen for the predator due to admiration on how well she hunts her prey.” Y/n’s head flicked to the left, lips curling to a smile.
           “A debatable answer.” She chuckled.
“I’ll take this one to my room. Do you know anyone here I could talk to about buying this piece? I am somewhat very fond of it.” Damian spun her head to the direction of his company. Y/n only smiled at him.
           “I guess I do.”
“Good, will you take me to him?”
“SHE is right in front of you darling.”
^^^^^^^
     “Fancy seeing you here Clark?”
The disguised man of steel took Bruce’s extended hand. “Well, it’s just that my agency heard of a big occasion here and nothing really special but they still sent me anyway just in case.” Bruce eyed the small notepad and pen on his one hand. “Still working on a weekend?”
Clark on raised his shoulder to a shrug before a short pause.
“You alone?” The blue-eyed man shook his head. “I’m with the boys, they’re out there somewhere. Maybe drinking their asses out or something.” Clark nodded in reply.
     “Hello, Good Evening everyone.”
Clark and Bruce turns to the podium where the leader of Gotham city now stood.
“I know some of you are still questioning why I invited you all here. In a very normal party. I think many of you notice the setting.”
“Bruce.”
The said the male’s attention was taken by his eldest who was accompanied by his other two siblings. “Dick, Tim, Jason. I’m surprised you’ve found me. Where’s Damian?” the three looked at each other, brows furrowed.
“The Painting exhibited on the walls are sponsored by a surprise guess tonight. I know some of you have been eyeing some pieces of our liking but sadly they are not yet for release.”
“We thought he was with you.” A surge of worry climbed through Bruce’s bile a bit.
“Don’t worry too much, Bruce. I’m sure he’s just around here somewhere.”
“Now I would like to present to all of you the mind of all the masterpieces spread across all of you. I must say I was rather excited when she had finally accepted our invitation. And our guest was generous enough to have all her works be the highlight of this event since we’ve been aiming to have an Artistic type of setting.”
All attention finally was to the speaker on the front Bruce and his sons were still quite occupied to where the youngest was. “Clark would you mind keeping an eye out to where my son is.” Of course, the man agreed.
Still occupied, Bruce kept turning his head every five minutes in hopes of spotting the jaded eyed boy.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you. The Artiste Visionnaire of France. The Famous 21st Century Art Critique Maîtresse. Painter and Ex-Marine Sergeant;
Madamoiselle Y/n M/n L/n.”
At the moment, everything had stopped for Bruce. The familiarity of the name that should have been long forgotten in the back of his mind rang like he had heard the name like yesterday.
“Wow, who would’ve thought that I could hit a jackpot tonight? Y/n is a big name in the industry. Have you ever seen such and influencing woman- Bruce?” With air caught in-between spaces of his throat, he can’t form any type of reply.
His eyes watched from the edge of the stage, a good ten feet from the podium where the Mayor stood. He awaited the familiar petite frame of a woman that he remembers that likes to dress into big skirts and conservative tops. The same woman that he had come to realize to be his only one.
And with no denial, a woman did emerge from the side. But not in the said attire he had thought as he almost didn’t recognize that it was a woman. The person emerges wearing a very prestigious and recent collection Dolce and Gabbana. It was a suit, the type where big businessmen would wear. It was tailored from a very expensive satin called satin-jacquard. The satin suit glowed in its canary yellow hue that lights from every chandelier allowed it glimmer a lot more. Like the person walking in them was wearing gold. And along the satin suit was loitering designs of floral in dominating shades of reds and greens.
“Y/n…” It was her.
Yet he felt different from her. Like he was somewhat culture shocked. The woman who never failed to show femininity to the crowd is now walking before him in the most expensive suit somewhat only she could pull off. Eyes held no type of emotion but stoniness.
Bruce watch each of her strides towards the podium. Poise. Just poise.
He described that moment as if she was the most feminine of the feminine yet masculine of the most masculine.
As she arrived by the podium, facing the seemingly endless crowd of elites. He didn’t miss the moment her eyes found his.

"Seems you're home early.." Hannibal said a soft smile on his face, "It would seem so if this were my home," the lawyer grumbled her leg resting on one of his pillows, the doctor had told her that resting would give herself a bit more strength than when she had entered the hospital, but as always she was reluctant and hard-headed, staring out the window in the living room she focused on the raindrops something she had been doing lately other than trying to cook in Hannibals unexplainably Sweedish supplied kitchen,
"Have you taken what the doctors prescribed you yet.."  he sat next to her on the couch, watching the way the dim lamp lighting made her glow as if she were heaven-sent.
" Madness can be a medicine for the modern world. You take it in moderation, "  mumbling as eyes focused on the case trying to read Wills chicken scratch handwriting, "Is that not what you've always told me, " Shanel asked, her tone of voice blunt and oozing with sarcasm,  "It is but it's best if you take them in this case to heal," trying not to get aggravated with her although she had only been out the hospital for a week, he still couldn't hide his concern for what he found in her file, "You should leave me alone .." she mumbled under her breath trying to verbally push him away,
"You feel like you're sinking, " he looked at her,
"I'm fine.." she looked away from his shark-like gaze.
"You barely come out of your room, " he sighed, watching her avoid his eye contact, "Why is that?"
"Well, Doctor Lector.. if we're playing a game of doctor-patient.." she tried not to lash out at him, her fingers fidgeting around the fabric under her, "This isn't my home, I question why I agreed with you to stay, nothing I own is even here," Shanel sighed, attending to her note again Hannibal closing her notepad,
"You've been awfully rude lately.. " he growled much as a lion would growl to get a lamb to grovel at its feet, dark honey eyes glared at his amber ones,
"Maybe I would enjoy it if I was home in my apartment, or if I didn't have nightmares every night, or if I wasn't such a!" she covered her mouth, turning away from him quickly, Hannibal could sense and smell what was going on with her he could practically taste her sleepless nights the stench of her depression her aching bones from working herself too hard let alone the way she startled around him lately, he'd only seen this in a few older clients, but never this close,
"How long have you been surviving post-traumatic stress disorder," he sat down on his chase, sketchbook open, "If you must know.. I've been suffering from this since I was little.." she mumbled, focusing on his hands, his face the way it no longer blurred, instead, he stood out among the darkness surrounding him,
"You've gone through quite an awful lot of psychiatrists have you not..' he looked up, catching the lighting from above her head as she continued to talk,
"I have, even a few mental hospitals.." she laughed, "I bit my doctor a few times got punished for bad behavior ."  her eye's now on him as she rests her head on the arm of the couch her dark hair framing her face landing on her shoulder, the dark circles under her eyes definitely indicated her lack of sleep, much like Will Graham who too seemed to almost suffer from something slightly similar, but that was neither here nor there in the matter,
"Quid pro quo Doctor Lector.,"  she suggested,
"I beg your pardon.," he responded, stopping in his tracks of sketching.
"I tell you things, you tell me things," she smirked, placing her head in the palm of her hands, "nothing has to deal with my case file," she suggested as he nodded. A little game with the young lawyer wouldn't hurt at least he had hoped it wouldn't,
"How long have you been orphaned," she asked, "If you lie, I will uncomfortably lick you.." she stared deep into his ever so changing soul, pencil now on paper, besides she was always told it's best to know the person you live with then break bread to a stranger, " I was 8 years old," he looked directly at Shanel, not knowing the first question would be such a big blow to his oh so secretive past that not many knew about it, his own secrets to the grave he'd say,
"Your aunt was she a.. nice lady?" she watched the tension in his back, and how it made him stiffen up, "She taught me a few tricks.." he laughed playing off the stings one by one,
"Quid pro quo, tell me about your boarding  school years,"
" Quid pro quo, why did you leave Florence but yet forget me.," her voice turning into a small tremble, there wasn't a sleepless night when she was a young girl that she didn't think of her perfect stranger in the museum, after all, her mind palace was modeled after it, the silence between them felt as if someone had died and was never coming back, neither party wanted to break it they didn't know-how, the air was deathly still as she collected her thoughts, her phone ringing the caller idea flashing Will Graham's number, "Duty call's" getting up from the couch using her crutch limping about to the front door,
"Jack wants to see you in his office," Will said, "How soon can you get here?"
"Well, need I remind you I am an hour away and injured?"  she stated behind gritted teeth as she got into her car, "Patience is virtue Graham .. but clearly it's not enough," she mumbled under breath, the headquarters, unlike Hannibal's home, was brighter and a lot less bleak in the mix, though the odd aroma caused by decaying evidence, however, leave a trace in her naval cavity it wasn't as bad as,
"You and your ship bottle aftershave.." she laughed,
"I keep getting it for Christmas.." he shrugged, noticing something off about her.
"Remind me to buy something else, perhaps Dolce and Gabbana?" she patted him on the back a snicker leaving her lips, walking towards Crawford's office never felt that long of a walk it was usually five minutes but with crutches and a limp it was five hours or so it seemed in her head,
"Will you've changed .." Shanel pointed out, "you've been irritable .. lately losing lack of sleep... " she looked at his tired blue eyes his curls still springing to life on his head unlike him, "First, Lector now you..." he kept his gaze off of hers a thing he usually did,
"And since when did you become so wise with psychology .."
"Damn it, Will, last time you got close you almost died I sat there every day in your hospital room waiting for you to breathe or.. or move you're my friend, and I can't let you suffer!"  she growled, throwing her crutches down out of anger,
he only laughed at the way she reacted, "And yet you can," he snarled walking inside, seeing Alana and Jack who were like usual discussing Will Graham with his shaky mental health, Shanel only sighed looking at the scruffy consultant's reaction as he pulled at a seat for his favorite lawyer, Shanel could only feel discomfort in herself and around her, never truly understanding why they called in a lawyer from another state she sat there dreaming off until they mentioned her name which never really happened,
"Are you going to let his love go to waste?" Hannibal asked as his voice echoed through the gallery halls longer than ones in a cathedral, Shanel knew where she was though still getting used to transporting herself there and getting out was the hard parts, " You ask me questions and, never answered mine, why is that," she asked looking down seeing that her suit was now a pink dress sheer showing her vulnerability but with solid silk showing all she was hiding, flowing behind her was long fabric making her look so well put together even when she felt that she wasn't, standing before her was Hannibal, and as usual, he was in white a color that suits him very well, "You're a challenging one," he said offering his hand out to hers waiting for her to take it,
"Am I..."  she asked him, watching the way her hands came to her side, " And what's this about love going to waste.." her response snappy,
"The way you look at Graham.."
"What about it.."  she walked by his side, "You think I love.. " she saw him nod as she laughed, knowing he wasn't her type at all, instead of Will her interest was more on someone who was intellectually competent skilled in the arts and a lover among many things,
"Well do you, Ms. Mahone,"
"Ms. Mahone.."
"Ms. Mahone.." Jack sighed, "Are you sure you're able to take on this case.." watching how she reacted, Shanel had understood most of what Jack asked of her, " As her appointed lawyer you want me to consult with Hobbs seek out that her wishes have been fulfilled and keep her record clean," she recited back to him her head feeling like it could pop off at any moment, however, she wasn't the only one feeling the same way, Hannibal watched the move in company as they emptied the truck of his new roommate per se items scuffing up her pure gold headboard and nearly ripping her king-sized mattress,
"Do be.. careful with that," he grumbled seeing how rude they were made him want to smash the very blood and brains in their heads against the walls, he wanted her return to their now shared home to be breathtaking and impressive even though she drove him up a wall with her condition that she'd been avoiding to talk about, walking into what was now her closet he took notice of what she had made the hidden compartment into, stocked with her guns, knives, and sedation medication along with several embalming fluids that not even he could get his hands on anymore without his license, but what caught him off guard the most was her pink suit that almost resembled a two-piece rain set, which made him feel two things, curious and slightly scared of what a short woman like her was capable of doing,
"Hannibal, I'm here.." she said announcing herself through the door, scraping off the access blood off her hands, as well as the leftover brains that were now on her heels, "That'll teach you lot not to go for the cookie jar," she raised her heel up pressing it into one of the victim's necks, rotating the point on his sternocleidomastoids,
"Do you eat vocal cords," she asked hearing Hannibal  come across the steps,
"Should I perhaps be worried as to why you asked.." he looked down seeing blood on his wood floors and barley any on Shanel, "If so I'll be sure not injure them if not.." she began pressing the pressure deep into the man's neck hearing him gargle blood as the bones snapped one by one like a button on a shirt, "They were entirely rude, he scuffed your beautiful furniture, and If I'm not mistaken, he smells of tortured children..," he pointed towards the man under her foot as she took her finger tasting the pure sweat from the works face,
"I believe you're correct! " she laughed, eyes almost a pitch-black from the lust she received from killing, this was the side he had wanted to see, how she committed her art of personal treason the faces made, and how the trophies were made if any were even kept, to see the true her was knowing everything he needed to see,
"Did you want a piece of the action?" she turned to him watching how he carried the bodies over his shoulders like pigs left to slaughter, "I've got it from here," he smiled walking through the kitchen and into another forbidden door across from the wine pantry, standing like a deer in headlights she remained still and never once moved, "You don't have to be scared little lion," he said  hearing her bare feet on the ground, from her soft walk he could sense she was a ballerina almost a pro, heading down the many flights of steps limping down, she could feel the breeze of trust pass her way, along with an unfamiliar sensation crossed, that she'd almost call it admiration for the slightly older man,
"Well, isn't this adorable a torture basement, you know.." she began, placing the bodies on the surgical table as she took a needle out from the heel of her shoe connecting it to the victim's arm and IV,
"Yes, nurse Mahone," he joked, looking at the way she played doctor with him, "My father had one of these when I was little, installed it himself, so many times I walk and.. he was cutting a finger or an eye," she sighed almost flashing back to those times, he took the plastic tube from her, caressing her finger a way to remind her that her scars were a reminder that past was real, a lesson she had tended to forget,  "How was your day back on the field," his hand finding his favorite surgical tool,
"Crawford wants me on the case around, Hobbs at most times, meanwhile Bloom thinks I'm not ready to be back, and Graham thinks everyone's attacking him," she sighed,  stitching the eyes aggressively together pricking herself, "Merda," she grumbled Hannibal took her finger, placing it to his lips taking a bit of the sweet, decadent taste on his tongue, not paying any attention to how flustered he made Shanel he could smell the scent which was just enough for him to know he was on the right track.,  "Such language ..," commenting on what she had muttered under her breath,
"You speak Italian .." she questioned, removing her hand from near his mouth " The might be a safer bet, he has liver, pancreatic, and lung cancer not what you'd want to serve to your guest tonight," she mentioned waiting for his answer as he nodded, " My mother was Italian  Simonetta Sforza-Lecter," he studied her reaction to the name seeing how she froze in her tracks, the name was so familiar, but couldn't place where she had heard it,
"And yours?" he asked, "Only finishing our little game from earlier," he smirked, giving her a wink.
"Rosetta Leoni Addorio Mahone" he looked at her in shock but saw how the resemblance was uncanny, it had been so many years since he had last seen yet even been in Italy that he didn't even think twice to names, "Perhaps we'll talk after dinner, our guest will be here any moment, " he said seeing Shanel leave up the steps ascending like an angel, soaking in the tub her mind couldn't help but wonder about what she experienced from lector, one moment they're nearly at each other's throats, and the next moment he's trying to doctor her up and butter her up to get her to trust him, as she looked at the bubbles around her they seemed to have been showing her a new her the suds began getting dark,  the feeling of something tugging at her feet weighing her down while the water was as black as blood in the moonlight, she kept gasping for air, but she couldn't breathe scream or even shout, trapped watching her past float around while the taste of Iron scaped into her mouth,
"Shanel..." a voice said calling out to her,
"Shanel.." She sank deeper the water becoming thicker seeing a bright light at the end,
"Shanel, are you alright?" Hannibal wrapped her in a towel, checking for her pulse feeling her shiver much like a helpless kitten, "Can you hear me..." he asked opening her mouth, wheezing and coughing occurred but it was a sign that she was alive and well, frazzled from what she saw she hid her face deep into his neck knowing that what she once was becoming came to return to her,  he sat her down on her bed as Shanel kept clinging on to Hannibal his scent calming her down,
"What did you see.."
She shook her head not wanting to talk,
"Please cooperate with me.." he sighed, sitting her down, "If we don't talk about these things, they eat at us and turn us into crazies," he tried getting her to talk, giving up shortly he turned his back to walk away,
"I sa-saw bla-bla-blood," she stuttered, " An-an-an-and, I saw h-h-h," she began shaking the moment of Christopher grabbing her foot the sound of the zipper played over, and over again in her mind,  he could only cradle her like he once did someone else long ago,
"The mirrors in your mind can only reflect the best of yourself not the worst of someone else,"  he tilted her chin up with his index finger, the puddles of tears clouding her eyes like a river, she looked down as he brought her eyes to face his, "You are no more a monster than what he is," he kissed the bridge of her nose,
"I'll be down in a minute.." she whispered as he nodded exciting out of her room, she took her time applying her makeup and adding garnet clips in her hair to match her red dinner dress and heels, she could hear the chattering downstairs almost like a group of screaming lambs carrying, but now it was her time to carry on amongst them as the lion he knows her to be, "Bloom, Abigal lovely to have you both for dinner at his - our humble estate," Shanel gazed, over at Hannibal who wore a matching garnet tie.
"It's our pleasure really,"  Alana smiled, "I figured we'd check on your well being and dinner,"  she joked as Hannibal pulled the seat out for Shanel,
"Must we talk about me, and not Ms. Hobbs" she looked over at Abigal who gave her a soft smile full of nerves, " I promise you I don't bite though,  Hannibal I can't  speak for him," she laughed yet again hearing the table enjoy her joke,  Dinner like always had been great, company laughs and of course surrounded by fake smiles and fake love, Shanel sighed washing the dishes humming a slight tune as she heard Hannibal walk beside her listening to the melody from her mouth, it made him think a woman with so many gifts had so many talents, "I hope dinner was to your liking," he began making small talk,
"You fit in quite very well out there, " he got closer towards her, "You put on the mask so that no one sees the true you it becomes buried deep inside you instead," he watched her  body language,
"Suppose we keep it up then what.." she asked him getting irritable,
"People will think we're in love," he took her lips with his own walking away,
"You make me want to murder you..." she grumbled.
"Dito.."

Fashion Bomb Daily’s 2020 Guide to 100 + Black Designers + Black Owned Fashion Brands You Should Know!
As our country experiences its great awakening, we are here to help you along your path, stylishly outlining 100+ Black Designers and Black Owned Brands You Should Know! Fashion Bomb Daily has been a resource for Black Designers since 2006, so the list below is a compilation of designers we have covered over the years under our Black Designers tab, along with designers we have featured on some of our various Instagram pages including @FashionBombDaily and @FashionBombMen.
Please note that this list is far from complete, and designers are not ranked. It was extremely hard to keep this list to only 100 designers. Who knows, we might need a book to contain all this talent! Without further ado…

Though he has unveiled many runway shows (he specializes in luxurious, streamlined ready to wear for men and women), he first burst onto the scene and made a mark for his revolutionary t-shirts like his “They Have Names” tee that enumerated the names of black men unjustly slain by law enforcement, and his “Juneteenth” tee, worn by Usher, to acknowledge the Juneteenth Holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. He rose to fashion industry prominence when he won a CFDA award in 2018. He stepped onto the hip hop scene as the self professed Louis Vuitton Don, and made waves at fashion weeks all over the world, until he tried his hand at runway with his DW collection, named after his late mother, Donda West. While he had a few frustrations in the beginning of his journey into the style industry (he famously told DJ Sway in the Morning, “You Ain’t Got the Answers, Sway!” when talking about his difficulties breaking into the industry), his Yeezy collaboration with Adidas has been a runaway success. With the help of his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her photogenic family introducing the Yeezy concepts–minimalist ribbed separates, shearling jackets, clear heels, alienesque flats, slightly distressed athleisure wear–Yeezy has become a streetwear staple. Baby Phat was launched by Kimora Lee Simmons in 1999 as an offshoot of then husband Russell Simmons’s Phat Farm line. Baby Phat was the toast of the early 2000’s with celeb laced fashion shows, frothing over with sexy, cocktail dresses, barely-there club tops, and glitter covered accessories. Though Kimora took a break to tend to her growing family, she relaunched the brand in December 2019, with her daughters Ming and Aoki Lee (who were featured in campaigns as kids, and always brought out at the end of every fashion show) as the faces of the brand. The new Baby Phat is mostly casual wear: the brand’s velour track suits are back, along with tees, hoodies, and sweatpants. We can’t wait to see how the brand blooms in the years to come.

My dad does menswear—traditional Nigerian menswear. Clothes are a really big thing in our household. Growing up, I didn’t know too much about it in terms of seasons, designers and stuff, because being in Nigeria, I was kind of cut off from the rest of the world. I didn’t have Wi-Fi, I only saw what I saw on TV. My parents allowing me to go to England, to focus on that more was really great, because in Nigeria, they just don’t see fashion as something worth even spending money on, like for studies or for developing.” Her line is sex on a platter: mini skirts, low slung pants, shirts affixed with one button, all cast in PVC and leather. 84. Dapper Dan
Dapper Dan is a legend. In the 80’s era, the street couturier spoke to the sartorial tastes of rappers, drug dealers, and athletes who had a distinctive palette for luxury with a dash of cool. Dan was known as the man who could transform a trendy winter jacket into a logo laden piece, emblazoning it with the monograms of Italian and French fashion houses by screen printing their symbols onto leather using a fade resistant ink. Fendi, among others, ended up suing Dan for copyright infringement several times, until Dan had to shutter his doors. In the ultimate plot twist, Gucci ended up stealing something from Dan for their Cruise 2018 collection–the exact silhouette of his fabled puff sleeve jacket, originally equipped with Louis Vuitton fabric. This public foible led to a considerable outcry, and thus the resurgence of Dan’s brand, who emerged as an official partner for Gucci in 2017, creating capsule collections embraced by a new era of pop stars including DJ Khaled, Beyonce, Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, and more .

Yes, this all happened on Fashion Bomb Daily. Davidson Petit-Frere appeared on our screens in 2012 as a dapper real estate investor who preferred custom made suits over right off the rack. Perhaps fueled by the reception, Frere went on to create Frere, a line of bespoke suits and tuxes. What started off as him suiting himself nicely for work mushroomed into a booming business with suits and blazers worn by Kevin Hart, Diggy Simmons, Mack Wilds, and More.

94. SybG by Sybille Guichard
Haitian American designer Sybille Guichard discovered her love for design while in the hospital, battling Crohn’s disease. She says, “I have Crohn’s disease. Been through life and death and back for 17 years now. I even finally opened my nutrition center last year, that closed down 3 days after my grand opening because I ended up in the hospital for 3 months with life threatening complications of Crohn’s. But God had another plan for me. I had been thinking hard a few years prior that after I open my center, I would really look into starting a shoe line. But I needed to focus on one goal at a time. So as I layed in my hospital bed my cousin bought me a sketch book, I drew so many different things but shoes was the main inspiration. I started drawing as if SybG was a real brand. So on my days I felt ok enough to be on my phone, I would search the web for information on how to produce a shoe from scratch. Before you know it I was writing my manufacturer and they said they can make my shoe. By the time I got out the hospital I had my first sample in production and on its way to my house. “

Try Again II
Tumblr media
Genre: Angst
Pairing: Junmyeon x Reader
Length: 2k
TW: Mentions of miscarriage
Masterlist
Being separated from Junmyeon was hard for you. For the past 8 years of your life Junmyeon has always been there for you, now it was time to see what life was like without him. So far it sucked. You found an apartment closer to your job and it was nice that you didn’t have to use a car to get to work. Before you left you told him that you’ll be safe but you didn’t tell him where you would be. It was for the best that he didn’t know.
If you thought you could completely remove Junmyeon from your life you were wrong, you guys were still married after all. His occasional texts eased your heart, it helped to know that he still cared and he wasn’t ready to completely give up already. It may have been your idea to separate but the only reason you suggested it was because you knew he would be there for you to come back to. He went back to the hospital and you were glad. Being a surgeon is what he was meant to do and it was selfish of you to try and prevent him from doing what he loves.
It was 8 at night on a Saturday. Your coworker texted you asking if you wanted to go out tonight. Normally you would say no, but this was the perfect opportunity to try and venture out. You have accumulated quite the closet since being married to Junmyeon, every designer out there was probably in your wardrobe. Most of the time you weren’t even the one buying them, Junmyeon would give them to you as a present. This blue long-sleeve Dolce and Gabbana dress was one of those gifts. You liked the way it held your figure and accentuated your best features. Junmyeon always did know your taste better than you. After putting on a face of makeup you called a lyft to come and get you. The car pulled up to the club Jieun texted you, it was much more busier than you thought it’d be. In your mind you thought it’d be a small, underground club, not some rowdy rave. Supposedly Jieun had a guy on the inside who could get you guys good spots, she met you outside and led you in. When she took you to the booth you saw 2 guys sitting there, waiting. She is trying to set you up with someone. Before you guys could get to the booth you grabbed her.
“Jieun what are you doing?” Your teeth gritted trying your best not to show how annoyed you were.
“I wanted to help. I see how sad you are because of the divorce-”
“I’m not divorced. We are separated,” you corrected her mistake.
She shook her head, “Ok same difference.”
You narrowed your eyes, “It’s really not.”
“I don’t see a ring on that finger so try again.”
Crap. She got you there. After a month into your separation from Junmyeon you stopped wearing your ring. It only hurt you every time you put it on. It reminded you of all his broken promises, of the times when he was never home, of losing your baby. It’s new home was in your jewelry box. But that did not mean you were some prize up for auction.
“Jieun I am not going to go on a blind date. I came here to have a nice night not flirt.”
She raised her hand in defeat, “Fine, you don’t have to flirt with him. Just be nice. He is the reason we are in here.”
So that was the inside guy. You could easily be civil, so you nodded. Jieun continued back on the track to the table. A smile came on their faces when they saw you two. It kind of made you sick. Like they were predators eyeing their prey.
“This is Jongdae and Jongin.”
A little giggle escaped your mouth at the similarity to their names. “Are you guys brothers?”
The tanner one shook his head no. “We are just friends who have oddly similar names.”
You nodded and took a seat next to him. You assumed Jongin was the one Jieun tried to hook you up with. You figured that out because Jongdae and her were already sticking their tongues down each other’s throats. You needed a drink. A server walked past the table and you stopped her.
“One Vodka soda,” you ordered with a smile. Of course Jongin had a comment about your order.
“I never pegged you for a vodka kind of girl,” he said with a smirk that made you squirm.
You rolled your eyes. You know you were supposed to be playing nice but it was hard when he was being so creepy. “You don’t know me well enough to peg me to anything.”
He laughed at your comment and nodded. “You’re right.”
When your drink came you practically chugged it. If it will help you forget you were here right now then you would drink a whole bottle.
“Easy… don’t want you throwing up.” Jongin was watching you demolish the glass of vodka.
You slammed down the now empty glass and waved the server for another. With the alcohol now coursing through you it was hard to play pretend anymore. You turned to him, “Look Jongin. I’m sure you’re a great guy and all but I’m married.”
He looked down at your left hand trying to find the ring as if it would make you seem more believable. “I don’t see a ring.”
It annoyed you that just because you didn’t have a ring you were no longer married. That was the second time tonight that someone has tried to use that against. “I may not have a ring on my finger but I still have a husband.”
“Where is he then?” He was trying to pry this out of you. You’ve seen guys get girls to spill their life story, fuck them, then leave. You weren’t stupid.
“Not here.” The lady showed up with your second glass and no time was wasted, it was already down your throat before you could think. You were always a lightweight, it didn’t take much to get you plastered drunk and you knew at this rate you were getting there.
After your 5 more drinks and a couple hours you decided you couldn’t sit at this table, you wanted to dance. You got to your feet and walked down to the dance floor. Sweaty bodies surrounded you as you tried to make your way to the center. When you found a good space you lost yourself in the movement. The music took your body and you just moved to it as the alcohol worked it’s magic. Yup, you were drunk. It was fun till you felt a body against yours. You wanted to close your eyes and believe it was Junmyeon, but it wasn't. You turned around to see a tall guy you have never seen in your life. Suddenly you wanted to run away but the amount of people around you made it difficult. You reached out for someone to grab you but nothing. The mysterious man tried to pull you back but you fought. After struggling you broke free. You wanted to go back to your bed in your safe, secluded apartment. Your bag and your phone was upstairs so that’s where you went. Jieun was too busy to notice but not Jongin.
“Leaving so soon?” His fake frown showing.
You nodded before stumbling a little. After collecting your belongings you started to head towards the exit. Your head was saying call a lyft and go to your apartment, but your hands had other plans. The line on the other end rang. At the 5th ring it finally got picked up.
“Hello.” His groggy voice caused a breath of warmth to spread throughout your body. You missed him, you missed him so much.
“Hi.” Your voice was shaky. How could it be steady when you just hear his voice for the first time in months. “Were you asleep?”
There was no doubt about it. It was midnight and if he wasn’t at work then he was at home. “Yeah, but what’s up?” You picked up on the hint of worry in his tone.
“I want to come home Junmyeon.” It took you 7 glasses of vodka soda to come to this revelation. You never called your small apartment home, because it never was. Home was where your heart was, and your heart was always with Junmyeon. You don’t know why you thought space would help you, it only made things worse. The pain of losing your child was always going to be there but having Junmyeon next to you made it better. It kept you afloat. Space was never the answer. The answer was always him.
“Where are you?” You heard him shuffling through the phone like he was getting ready.
You told him the club name. He wanted you to go somewhere a bit safer till he came to get you. Usually that would be the time you hung up but you couldn’t bring yourself to do. You were afraid that if you did it would all be an illusion you made up. He stayed on the line with you, he didn’t have to speak, just knowing he was there was enough for you.
Fifteen minutes went by and you saw his black BMW pull up to the curb. When he got out of the car your breath hitched. He hasn’t changed, he was still the same. You wonder if he thought the same about you. When his eyes met yours is when he finally ended the call. Tears were welling in your eyes and the closer he got the more you felt like they were about to spill over. They finally did when he took you into his arms and held you close to his heart. This is what you needed, this was the missing puzzle piece. It was like he was trying to say everything he has wanted to say in the past 3 months with one hug. You felt his lips touch your head as he kissed your hair and whispered soft apologies. But he shouldn’t be the one apologizing. You were the one who ran away when you should have stayed and fought. He was burying his head into the crook of your neck and holding you tighter. He shared the same fear as you, the fear of blinking and everything being gone. But you came to terms with it and faced reality, reality was him being here with you and never letting go. Your hands grabbed his face and pulled him up to look at you so you could so those amber swirls you adored. You wanted him to understand that you were here to stay.
“I love you.” You truly did. You have always loved him and probably always will. Even in your darkest of times you managed to love him. There was no way you could continue without him besides you. His lips smashing into yours was all you needed to confirm he felt the same. You poured your heart into that kiss. My god did you love him. “Take me home.”
That night you found yourself in bed next to your husband where you were meant to be. He held you close making you feel the love he radiated for you. What made it even better was that when you woke up he was still there. He meant it when he told you that he changed. You felt good about this like you guys are going to be just fine.
Within the week you were out of your old place and back home with all your belongings. It took awhile for you and Junmyeon to be intimate again. He didn't pressure you for sex and that made you love him more. There was an understanding between the two of you. You guys weren't going to have sex in hopes of getting pregnant, of course if you did manage to get pregnant it wouldn't be bad, but for now sex was meant to be for pleasure and all the raw emotions that came with it, not out of responsibility.
When you and Junmyeon finally decided to renew your guys’ sex life it was hard to stop. The two of you were like hormonal teens who just discovered what sex was. Literally anywhere and everywhere you guys could get your hands on each other you would. So it was no surprise to you when not even 2 months later you turned out to be pregnant. This time around you didn't hesitate to tell Junmyeon. He was over the moon about the pregnancy but of course you had your reservations. But Junmyeon promised this time will be different because he would be here for you every step of the way and he was.
Nine months later you and Junmyeon were parents to a beautiful baby girl. The both of you decided to name her Kim Eunji. Eun meant kindness which she would inherit from you and ji meaning wisdom which her father would have passed down to her.
You would never forget your first child the one you couldn't meet. But you would cherish this one, both of you would.

30. Part 3
Tumblr media
I came home about four, I mean the hotel room of course but it was nice that I could see Maurice and spend that time with him. To hear him speak on how nervous he is, I can honestly see he is very nervous about it. He did that for me, I appreciate it. I mean Reign slept through it all, she didn’t wake up at all but it was sweet on how he wanted her there still, he did hold her and even then she was like I ain’t waking up for you. But I am glad she had a good sleep, she has a busy day today and I need her in a good mood but me, I just woke up. It’s like eleven, I am wondering who got Reign from my room, I didn’t wake up after my head hit this pillow so I am wondering who the hell got her for me. The bed in this hotel is fucking wonderful, I can’t even get out of bed at all. I have missed breakfast so this is not good, did anyone wake me at all. Placing my feet in the slides, I need to gather myself to be honest. Shuffling over to the curtains and pushed the curtains back. I breathed out, it’s so fucking breath taking. I am just speechless with the views, I wish Maurice was here with me though. So we can share this moment together but I guess not, I smiled staring at the ocean view. Opening the window, the little bit I can open, I mean they don’t let you open it fully of course. I can feel the warm breeze enter the room, now this is life. This is the life I would love to have forever, imagine it. This is Maurice’ life everyday, since he was born he has had luxury and he doesn’t know anything less but he is not stuck up with it at all. Now he is making sure his daughter has it, I am not sure if he would do it if it was just me on my own but I think he would. Walking away from the view, let me go and see who got Reign and if she is ok. This room has a whole ass living room, it’s luxury. Like everything is perfect, the marble flooring is at the right shine, not one bit of dirt. Dragging open the door, shuffling out of the room “you decided to leave your room?” my mother said, she has Reign over her lap “yes, I was tired. You’re doing tummy time with her, who took her from my room?” I questioned walking over to them “me, you didn’t wake up” letting out an oh “would you like breakfast?” I jumped a little, this butler was just there “can I?” I questioned “you can have anything madam” nodding my head, I guess if he is offering.
Is there anything this hotel can do bad, the breakfast is even beautiful “is she awake? Where is that bitch!” Leon spat, placing a piece of waffle in my mouth “I needed you and you was asleep, I went to scope out the place. Everything is so private and oh my god” Leon sat down next to me “so, I was lounging in the morning and there is these girls and some boys, about twenty in age, they ain’t old. I am sat there, soaking up the sun. I stopped my music, I was like I am going to be nosey so they started speaking. They are Maurice’ cousins in this hotel. They goes oh did you hear that he’s trying to breakaway from the family but my mom said he can’t, I mean at this point I took my shades off to look over but they caught so I came back here, I ain’t want no trouble” rolling my eyes “he was saying that last night, he knows people are against him” placing my fork down, my dad came back into the hotel “oh and I saw your dad but I ran by him” nodding my head “wait, last night? Was he here?” shaking my head “he called me and I went to see him, he took me to his hotel. I saw it” Leon gasped “you went to his hotel already!” Leon screamed out, I shushed him “you went there?” my dad perked up saying “uh yeah, he called me last night and he showed me the hotel” my mom cooed out “you know how sweet that is? Robyn, that is cute. Did he not stay here” my mother gushed “no his family are staying with the prince, at his house but he came here for me. But I went. He showed me some floor layout thing and he told me to read out the suite floor layout and I goes R R Suite and he said yes this is Robyn Reign suite and you will be staying, it is the most expensive room someone could be in, and honestly. I got choked up but I gathered myself, then he told me that the meeting room there is called Reign, like that is just unbelievable” I took in a deep breath “it’s just emotional, I am shocked but yeah” I chuckled “he’s a billionaire, he can make anything happen” waving my dad off as I flicked the tear away “I don’t want to hear you, I don’t want to hear your negativity dad, he didn’t need too but he did!” I spat “you didn’t let me finish, you just bark at me. Terry she does, you are trying to hold your family together and I get it. So like I was saying, Terry don’t give me that face. He can make anything happen and he’s gone out of his way to do this for us, let us use his jet. I am sorry” my dad apologised “I am not accepting it until you apologise to him because if you was on my jet and you hated me I would have kicked you off my jet mid-flight!” I spat getting up from the chair “oohh chile” Leon said “I ain’t forgiving that easy, no way. Don’t speak to me either” I don’t see why he was even trying to speak to me.
I have still yet to decide on what to wear to something so prestigious, I mean what the fuck does Forever 21 do compared these rich people, I already feel like shit now. I sighed out looking over at Reign asleep again, this child of mine is sleeping none stop. I am sat on the bed Indian style, with Reign laid out, she is at peace so I am too but right now Riegn is looking better than me for the day. My phone started ringing at the side of me, picking it up from the side. Answering Maurice’ call “I will be one minute, thanks. Hey Robyn” I miss him already “hey, you called me. It sounds busy there” it does sound like there is a lot of people around “yeah, just doing some prep work. I did get some sleep though. Thought I would let you know, the prince has butlers for every room, crazy right?” Dubai is a crazy place “so did they just wait outside your room? Or what?” that is crazy “pretty much, the home is beautiful though. How are you? Don’t be nervous” how did he even know “I am a little, are we you know..” I dragged out “what?” Maurice said “like you are still my boyfriend right?” I feel a little insecure, there will be many women there, his wife is there and then it’s me “I wasn’t the one that removed their ring, I don’t have one but I didn’t know we split? Did we?” he isn’t wrong “why you saying that?” poking my lips out “because you’re going to be in your element, women around. And I will be there watching, in the corner” I sound so butt hurt “don’t feel like that, you the one that took the ring off. There is really no reason to be that way, Robyn I love you. But I don’t have much time, where are you?” he is in a rush to get me off “in the hotel room thinking on what to wear” I am such a brat at times “go to your door, the hotel door” frowning, is he weird “why?” I questioned “don’t ask why, go. Hurry up too” looking at Reign asleep, I am sure she will be ok while I go to the door “Ok I am getting up” I was comfortable here.
“I will get it!” I shouted, someone is actually here “Leon, can you put Reign in the crib for me. She is on my bed” I don’t want her to be laid out on the bed and she wakes, she isn’t rolling onto her stomach just yet but you never know “I am getting the door now” I said down the phone “ok, good” dragging open the door and I froze seeing this white man “this is her, move out!” Nalah spat as she walked in with this man and a rack of clothes, another man walked in with a case “what is this?” I said down the the phone “I set up a stylist for you, Nalah helped. She will explain to you, but that is for you, I will see you there ok” I gasped “Maurice, seriously!?” letting the door close as I turned around “I need to go, have fun bye” he disconnected the call “well you look ready” Nalah said “so, oh hi everyone. So, this is Adam and this is Bryan and these are going to dress you, your mother. Pick whatever, Maurice is paying. I picked out a few things what you may like, anything you pick is yours. The jewellery too, anything just keep but they will be dressing you. I need to go, I can’t stay but Maurice wanted me to introduce them. Adam has just helped Maurice with his suit, and now your next. I would love to stay but I can’t, I can’t wait to see you tonight” Nalah shuffled to me, gave me an air kiss and breezed by me, I am in shock that Maurice has done this for me.
Staring at these two men just stare at me, I am so fucking awkward “so I am Maurice’ stylist for his events, I am Adam” I didn’t know that “really?” I said a little shocked “yes, I have been for five years now. He has a stylist just for his events and then he mentioned you, and said if I could and if I knew a make up artist and I do, this is Bryan. So where would you like us to set up?” I am in shock “erm, just in the living room, anywhere. Wow, I never knew he has a stylist? I mean a suit is a suit, right?” I don’t get it “no darling, it’s not. It’s a statement you need to make, from every stitch, every brand, every tie. The public will shred you apart to just put you back together. A suit is never just a suit, it’s a statement. He’s wearing Dolce and Gabbana suit, he is decided if to wear a scarf around his neck but I said for him to wear it, he is deciding on that” this guy has clearly shut me up on this “he said the lady I will meet will be pure beauty and guess what, he didn’t lie” I blushed, he said that about me “I look a mess, I mean I have no make up on, I don’t think so” I chuckled “but yet you look so pretty without it, I don’t want you to over do it with the make up. She don’t need it, and you have two options, subtle or make a statement?” such a simple question that is a hard question to answer “girl, you’re making a statement, that is what you are doing!” Leon spat as he walked into the room “statement it is” I am so nervous.
I have not seen myself in the mirror yet, Adam went to deal with my mom and Bryan has started on my make up “how did you meet such a prestigious man? In that kind of business anyways, was it at a party?” Bryan asked, I mean of course they are going to ask “I was at his cousin’ wedding, his cousin married my then friend and we met there, he really liked me. I on the other hand, I wasn’t thinking about him. Honestly I wasn’t” Bryan is laughing “I went back to work, got on with my life. He contacted me, and wanted to try this. I didn’t know who Maurice Davenport is, I knew of the hotel chain but I mean come on, who the hell is going to research that. I didn’t know he was married but I do now, and honestly it’s been hell since, I am sure you read” I know he must have “I did read some things but I wasn’t affected by it. People that work with him knew that he didn’t care for being married, since being around Nalah and him. He was pretty much single and you can see them together, he wasn’t into it. His father made that happen and you can tell. So when I read it and saw he got you pregnant, I goes to Nalah. I said he got her pregnant, he’s never gone out of his way to do that so I goes she has to be for keeps and look at this, for keeps” I breathed out smiling “you think? I am not liked to be honest, because of that I guess. I had his baby” Bryan pulled a face “he’s happy, who cares for the rest” he has a point.
My mouth fell open “you sure I ain’t going to be dragged out of this event in Dubai? I mean, you know? Y’all going to get me locked up, you sure?” staring at Adam “girl, no. Trust me” staring at myself in the mirror “you look delicious! Like you carry it off, Stella McCartney would be proud. Very proud” smiling a little, a Stella McCartney tuxedo jacket. The black velvet jacket is serving as a dress, with a deep plunging neckline revealing my bare cleavage underneath “that chest tattoo is everything too, you will be fine. You are about to make news headlines, oh my god. I can’t wait” shimmying to the side “this is why I said the make up to be minimum, your face makes a statement alone but your body is just it! The choker is Swarovski crystals” Adam said, Bryan started playing around with my bun “I am so proud, like wow. I have dressed Naomi before but this, you got to be striking deals after this. Remember me though” Adam said, looking at the mirror again, this is about to have the place talking “Robyn, I dressed Reign-” turning to my mom, she near dropped my daughter “woah, my child!” I said eye-balling her “wow, Robbie. I was not expecting this” I feel all shy now, to get this reaction.
Tumblr media
Smiling at my sister as she walked back into the room, who would have thought that me, I got us in with the prince of Dubai, my dad didn’t make any of this happen, I did this all myself and look at this, sat in his home. It is a different experience but he is a good man, he has big visions for Dubai and I like him. To be waited on for every minute of the time I am here is a nice feeling “is she ok?” I asked Nalah “yeah, a little shocked but fine” smiling behind Nalah seeing the Dubai Prince “Maurice, my friend. This is Sheikh Mohammed” I do remember that they like to hug here “nice to finally meet you Maurice” hugging him “I been too busy, I appreciate how much you have welcomed me and my family here” stepping back “you are always welcome here, when is the next hotel?” I laughed “no, not another one yet but one day, another one” I need this to get over my first here “Maurice, you know here you can have many wives. No issues here, you good man. I have many wives so you did good” my sister snorted laughing and so did I “well I should move here, my sister did say the whole trouble I am having in America is meant nothing here and I forgot that it’s ok here, but you now in America they don’t agree. I am happy you appreciate that I got another girl” the Saudi Prince is funny “well here my friend you are ok, they both here yes? I see they are, I did not invite any of them in this home, women are stress” nodding my head “I understand, but they are ok. They don’t need to be together in a room, I don’t want that at all” placing my hand on his shoulder “see, women are stress. I have gift for your daughter, I will show you later but you did good my friend, you are not a bad man” I appreciate that they appreciate what I did, I should move here because they are accepting of it.

finders keepers | mink + fee
@kidrebelmink‌:
The weather was sort of nice today, meaning there was no rain and the overhanging clouds didn’t seem to offer any rain for the rest of the day either. If you looked well enough, you might see some sunshine once in a while pull through the grey clouds. Meaning a training session outside could be welcomed by all, or at least Mink was looking forward to some chucks of wind brushing through their hair, pulled at the short strands, having the sweat dry up under the edgy cold of a January season. Nothing wrong with a little cold.
The trainer had them walk a couple of laps in order to heat up, and Mink had been feeling extremely feisty that morning, being called back a couple of times whenever they pushed through into a sprint. That wasn’t the goal of the exercise. It didn’t hold Mink back however, they felt a surge of energy pick up and had to act on it. Their whole body felt like it was bursting with energy, wanting to run, fight, jump, whatever the trainer had in store for them.
After ten laps, which Mink finished first, the trainer teamed them up based on quality, and told them to work on their offense and defense poses. That part of training seemed even harder to Mink, because poses meant not really attacking other people, nor going all out. It meant holding back. And they were getting extremely irritated by holding back. Didn’t help that their opponent was someone they really wanted to smash. The other, probably noticing how Mink was jumping around on their spot, taunted them whenever it was their turn to attack. Saying things like “boy” or “girl”, which Mink hated, and telling them that they hit like a “girl”, which in itself was a stupid taunt, but the fact that the person had the audacity to assume their gender was a hateful thing.
Mink eventually, thinking the trainer wasn’t watching, made their move on their opponent, coming out of nowhere after having placed themselves in a defensive position, to attack the other straight on. Bending their stance a little so the put the other off guard, making use of the other’s sudden open pose, and swinging a fist into the other’s belly. Watching with great enjoyment how the person doubled over and fell to the ground.
Not a smart move however, the trainer shouted at them from a distance and told them to take a time out, sit at the bleachers until the end of training. Fuck! Mink threw the trainer a middle finger when they weren’t looking, and fuming, they made their way to the stupid benches.
To their surprise, they weren’t the only person who had to sit there, or at least they figured as much. Some youngster with blonde hair had taken a seat on the bleachers as well, he wore a pretty cool jacket, with flowers in different colors. They recognized it as a jacket that they also owned that exact jacket.
Still fuming, Mink sat down a little away from the other, looking up, studying him momentarily. “That’s a freaking awesome jacket.” They said, forcing themself not to look down, because from the corner of their eye they could see their opponent looking up with a grin. There was a little suspicion in their voice, as they studied the other. “I have the same one, but I lost it a couple days ago.”
@felix-tee
From behind a set of oversized, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses, Felix sat chewing rather flavourless bubble gum on the bleachers like some kind of high school dramedy cliché. With his legs neatly and tightly crossed, his propped up ankle shook in an absent but consistent rhythm: he was bored. Restless. But he was also smug.
He didn’t particularly want to be there—even back in grade school he’d had very little interest in watching or participating in the hype of team sports. In fact, the only thing that ever did put him in the stands a time or two had been when he’d either been there on the arm of a pretty and popular boy, who’d later try (try being the operative word) to get Felix out of his daks in the locker rooms, or because he’d simply wanted to soak in the view of jocks getting muddy and taking off their shirts at half time—that’s what they called it right? Half time? To be honest, if that was right, it was a lucky fucking guess. No matter the reason Felix had ever had to put him at one of those games, none of them had ever been for the sake of learning anything about the sport, or paying any kind of real attention.
But now he was smug, because he got to sit on the sidelines looking cute as fuck, if he did say so himself, and simply observe while everyone else was killing themselves over relays or circuits or... whatever the poor sods were doing. He sort of felt sorry for them. But not sorry enough to stop him from feeling a little triumphant that he was up here, smelling of tangy summer eau de parfume and they were down there smelling like... that. Of course, he couldn’t smell much at all from this vantage point other than salt water and seaweed carried up on the wind from the rocks below, but his nose crinkled just at the thought. He did, after all, have a very active and capable imagination.
But Cambie has specifically told him that until further notice, he wouldn’t have to participate, and as soon as she got approval through the correct avenues’—whatever that meant—they’d be able start their one on one dance training. Honestly, Felix doesn’t like to show too much enthusiasm for anything that someone of authority is offering to him, because it sort of puts him at risk of getting lazy and simply going along with rules or expectations, instead of making a fuss to get exactly what wants and how he wants it—and even if it’s a delicate, passive-aggressive fuss, he’d always rather make at least something of one, because getting too complacent was dangerous. It could mean that his standards were lowering, and that was a very slippery slope to find oneself on. One minute you’re at the top of the social food chain, and the next you’re making friends with the rejects and the lunch lady, wearing—shiver—knock off brand hand-me-downs and letting yourself physically and hygienically go.
God, if he had any motivation at all to make even a single close friend (or fan) here, the leading one might strictly be so that he had someone to stab him in the throat if he ever let himself become one of those un-self-respecting bogans. Ugh, just... ew.
So he made an effort to keep himself and his eagerness for Cambie’s plan both respectable and in check. He showed her enough sweet, angelic appreciation to encourage her to follow through with the whole thing, but monitored just how grateful he was, because he didn’t want to wind up in a position where she was the one holding all the power. She was only meant to think she was.
Unfortunately, the truth of it was that he was already quite fond of Cambie. And he was genuindely very excited about the idea of dancing again. Like really dancing. With structure and a goal, and a purpose—and hell, a partner to do it with him. As self absorbed as he was, he had to admit it was more fun to share those kinds of things with other people—even if it was just so someone else was there to praise him and tell him what beautiful, impressive work he was doing. He knew that, of course, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like to also hear it confirmed.
But he was still waiting to hear from Cambie regarding setting up the dance sessions, and he didn’t really have too many friends to reach out to yet to keep his time filled, so for now he used the glaringly open block to sit perched in the stands watching everyone else suffer. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t enjoying it. But he found lying pretty easy, so—he’d be happy to tell you what you whatever you wanted to hear about his current mood, one way or another.
The cherry on the cake, however, was that he’d found this fabulous floral jacket. It was a bright print of cherry reds, sunshine yellows and lime greens—there was even a hit of vibrant fuchsias in the daring and delightful petal-like design. Frankly, it looked designer, but he couldn’t really tell one way or another because some total drongo had gone and ripped out the label. Ugh, whoever the past owner was, they were clearly a tragedy.
But it’d just been lying over the back of one of the sofas in Delma, and it fit him perfectly. It was just a touch too big, as most things were on Felix, naturally, but that was also the ideal fit for the style. He didn’t know who it had belonged to, but it didn’t have a name in it anywhere, and if the owner had just gone and left something that fetch just lying around, they clearly didn’t appreciate its value, much less deserve it for themselves. Finders were totally keepers, anyway, everybody knew that.
Besides, there wasn’t a chance in hell it looked as good on anyone here as it did on Felix. No offence to the Colony 22 population—there were at least a handful of pretty people worth taking long looks at around here—but he was Felix Turner. It wasn’t like anyone would expect them to compete with the likes of him.
The person who loped over to him then had been the little one causing trouble on the fields a few minutes ago. To be honest, Felix hadn’t been paying much attention to the kerfuffle because he’d been too busy staring at some fit, dark skinned boy running laps in the other direction (who’s brows, by the way, were totally slaying, like wow). But he looked to his new approaching company now, and he was glad he was wearing sunglasses because he could feel his expression running skeptical at first. This person looked.... dirty. And just a little too friendly, considering what he’d just half-witnessed on the field. It made Felix think this person was a little like a feral cat—unpredictable and possibly diseased.
Maybe it was too early to judge—but that had never stopped Felix before.
He blew a thin bubble with his gum. He’d probably been chewing it too long, because it was getting weak and a bit grainy, and the bubbles were barely holding any elasticity. It’d been pretty bad to start with, anyhow.
With the compliment and the appreciation of his jacket, he was fully prepared to preen, and semi-preparing to like this stranger just a fraction more—but then the words, ‘but I lost it a couple days ago.’
Something latched onto Felix’ Adam’s apple uncomfortably, and the little blond faerie of a creature was yet again grateful he was wearing sunnies. He swallowed, kept his tone even, and tried to inject it with just enough positivity to pull off flattered, if a little bored.
“Oh, thanks. It’s nice isn’t it? Well, clearly you have good taste.”
