Winners of the art poll: Chrissy and Bat!Eddie. I had some digital sketches that I made months ago and I decided to complete them. The art is Don Bluth inspired and based on a previous piece of fan art that I made of them here.
Chrissy wanders around in the forest and finds a little bat, secretly caring for it at her house. She’s surprised to learn that said bat can talk and has been inflicted with a terrible curse by the evil Vecna.
I decided to include the art with and without the vhs filter.
Also yes Chrissy’s hair looks bad in the forest scene 😣

Movies like An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven, and Anastasia have been staple stories in my childhood. I’ve gone back to re-watch these films recently and I was inspired to draw Chrissy and Eddie as if they were a part of a Don Bluth film. While not a perfect match to his style, I would say that this fan art is Don Bluth inspired.
Plot: Chrissy befriends a talking bat that she comes across one day while taking a walk in the forest. An unlikely friendship blooms between them and she soon finds out that there’s more to this little mammal than she realized. She learns that her animal companion was placed under a curse by the evil wizard Vecna, a creature not of this world. It’s up to Chrissy, Eddie, and a gang of outcasts to become the unlikely heroes to not only break the spell, but to save the town of Hawkins from Vecna’s clutches.
The original layout was going to be a VHS cover, but I didn’t like it, so I just went for a bright background instead.

Request to draw fake peppino? I think he would look really good in your style 👉👈
It is only now that I realize I never actually posted my first drafts of Fake Peppino. One whole year seems a long enough wait ^^

It's old sure, but it's still how I'd draw it today!

“And you'll always miss [your mother]. But she'll always be with you, as long as you remember the things she taught you. In a way, you'll never be apart, for you are still part of each other.”
Good. God. This quote hits me in a gut every time I listen to the dialogue between Littlefoot and an Old Rooter.
It’s such an interesting fact for me that originally the interaction between these two was not part of a movie and was added into it during an editing process. For, personally for me, that dialogue made me more emotional than death of Littlefoot’s mother it addresses.
When you see her passing away, you feel rather lost than heartbroken, incredulous even. But it’s thanks to Rooter that the reality finally sinks in for a boy - she’s not there anymore and she’ll never come back to him.
And yet, it doesn’t mean that her son’s journey is over. Grieving is a right thing to do, but it shouldn’t consume all of his being. Hence why an old man kindly advises Littlefoot to focus on memories of his mother’s love for him rather on last moments of her life. He does not say that pain of a loss will go away. But he shows a way to make it to affect you less over the course of time.
All in all, this scene is meant to to be a comforting one, something that kids would come back to in search for guidance, especially when they have no one else to share their grief for parent with. And I can not thank Don Bluth and his team enough for taking such a mature and respectful approach in storytelling towards young audience of this movie.
P.S. Did I draw this miniature at work due to a random whiff of nostalgia? - Yes. Did I have other, more important things to do in an office? - Oh, absolutely. Do I feel bad about avoiding my responsibilities? - … not quite.

I use your smunker art as references a lot of the time!
I think people/ you wouldn't see the inspiration in my drawings tho. It gets very removed especially because I use a lot of ref for every drawing and stuff gets mixed.
Smunker and your art rocks :]
yeah see! i myself am obvs still inspired by various artist, right now I can tell you i'm inspired by how Animal robottoast draws furs, and how decafbat draws the illusion of snouts by not fully connecting em/drawing the mouth separately, as seen here
even if tomorrow i more permanently incorporated some of the aspects i like about their work (how robottoast draws paws, necks, fur etc) into my stuff, it wouldnt automatically remove all My "unique" aspects that make my work, my work. it just gets frankensteined or "mixed" in! and even then those inspirations might morph further to your own spin on em once you draw them more and more! its how inspiration works lol
also thank u! ^_^

I’m trying to see where to lean my art style towards as I develop as an artist. These are my favorite artists, and where I draw the most inspiration. Vote below, so I can see where to continue to develop.

Don Bluth is one of my favorite animators. Growing up, I was drawn to Bluth's animated work — my childhood favorites include Anastasia, Land Before Time, and Thumbelina.

What is Inspiration Goat sniffing at?
As heard on the Daydreaming about Dragons podcast, the Inspiration Goat helps me process media and take parts that are useful for the gaming table. This isn’t about the hottest new thing or the crowdfunding with the biggest payday; it is just a few geeky things that are inspiring me. It might be weekly; it might be monthly. It all depends on how fast the inspiration goat chews on media and who…
