i went through a brief period of fascination with that period, and i could totally see suguru being lancelot !!! and satoru as arthur??

and guinevere!reader having an affair with lancelot :( there is just something so tasty about a relationship being so intimate it's a secret between two parties, and just the longing to openly express love and affection and being unable to do so...

what i love most abt the arthuriana is the fact that the legends are so old that. it’s basically free real estate??? no interpretation is more right or wrong than any other because there’s barely any actual canon and i think that makes researching it sm fun!! i had a period where i read a bunch of older and more modern arthurian interpretations and i had a blast comparing them and coming to a conclusion about my own take on the legend…. (which i always incorporate a little into my knight aus :33 my overall take on the arthuriana is that knighthood is an unattainable ideal)

ANYWAY I’M GETTING CARRIED AWAY. don’t ask ari abt knights bc they’ll never stfu.

BUT YEAHH lancelot as suguru is so perfect because lancelot is the greatest knight !! and because of that, his sin is also the heaviest. i think it’s a great parallel to suguru’s canonical ”fall from grace” — lancelot loves guinevere and he loves the king and the burden of being the greatest knight crushes him. because knights aren’t allowed to love!! being a knight means surrendering a piece of your own humanity but nobody likes an inhumane knight, so it’s a losing game. (this is explored in both erskine’s galahad and the pearl poet’s gawain and the green knight!!)

i always end up thinking of a line i love from steinbeck’s the acts of king arthur and his noble knights, which is spoken by lancelot himself….. he makes me so sad :((((

sir lancelot looked to the forest's edge, which bore ahead, and he said uneasily, "why should they ask these things? aren’t deeds enough? can you tell me? aren’t deeds enough?”

deeds aren’t enough. being the greatest knight means being a contradiction and it also means that nothing you do will ever be quite enough.

and yeah!! the forbidden love aspect is just so tasty. i think satoru is perfect as king arthur because of the love lancelot holds for guinevere and his king — all three of them love each other and it makes the situation that much more painful. lancelot who can’t help but love guinevere, guinevere who can’t help but love him back, king arthur who has no choice but to execute them when the public finds out. there are lots of arthurian works where king arthur knows about the affair and lets it happen out of love for them both, but then he still has to do what the public demands… and i think that also fits perfectly with satoru in the jjk canon :((( the way he has no choice but to kill suguru for his crimes.

i could say more but it rlly is just the perfect parallel au…. i’ve always wanted to explore the similarities between sorcerers and knights so!! this fic would give me that opportunity :33 sorry for rambling anon, and ty for giving me an excuse to!!

joa (@xiaomomowrites) and i both have a bad case of the brain worms so here is a modern au consisting of our headcanons on what types of tattoos and piercings the jjk cast would get 

for starters, we are wholly on our tattoo artist megumi agenda. he’s absolutely COVERED in tattoos because he has a tendency to practice on himself, so his legs are covered in original pieces. he’s def got a massive back tat

his tongue is pierced and he has a dermal piercing too btw (the one u get on ur cheek, y’know. under/near ur eye)

his specialty is realistic shading!! he puts a lot of effort into his practice

also yuuji has piercings. he comes into the parlor to get them and sees megumi and his eyes are wide fuckin open. he thinks he looks hot while he’s working lmfao. little does he know that megumi is also into him. cue the pining babey

yuuji has an eyebrow piercing and a septum. we’re fucking calling it

and. and. get this. toge has his tongue split. there’s some fanart of inuokko from twt that i’ve seen where is his tongue is split (joa sent it to me)

toge works at the shop!!! he’s their best piercer and he split his own tongue bc he’s just cool as shit like that

he also wears a mask during work out of personal preference, so people can only see his split tongue when he takes it off. whew i love him

also, megumi did the tattoos on his face. u know what? yuuta has them too. we don’t accept criticism 

maki as an artist too. she does the design and the tattoo for nobara of the roses on her arm (like the poison from the show)

maki has gauges and those piercings that you get on your chest, right under your collarbones (research is telling me they’re called sternum piercings. i took the liberty to choose the placement alksdjfhalsdkf)

yuuta has a black line tattooed on his ring finger to remember rika. also he runs the front desk LMAO

suguru also works for the parlor as both a tattoo artist and a piercer, he owns the shop! he’s covered in tattoos and he has gauges, just like in canon. also he’s dating satoru, obviously 

but get this. satoru is afraid of needles so he doesn’t get tattoos. however, he’s a whore, so he has his nipples pierced. oh and he has one stud in his ear bc suguru convinced him (he cried)

and if satoru gets a tattoo it’s entirely because suguru convinced him. he’s always said he wants to keep his gorgeous skin super pristine

I hope you enjoy these recs, the first eight are straight up fantasy/supernatural vibes and the others are ones that take place in a different reality, or have fantasy/supernatural elements.

Under My Wings You Will Find Refuge/I Will Fear No Evil (For You Are With Me)/Grant Your Wayward Children Grace by Fiver- Ok so I am literally never going to shut up about this series so pls do not ask me to. This is my favourite fanfic of all time. Sometimes following WIPs is a practice in patience but it's all worth it for fics like this. It's a Supernatural AU, but you don't need to know anything about Supernatural to enjoy it (I certainly don't). Grantaire is an all-powerful angel, and Enjolras is the human hunter he falls in love with. It's so tense and exciting and the current arc is killing me because I have NO IDEA what is going to happen. Pls read this series it's fantastic.

Beneath a Dragon Moon by The Librarina- Another AU, this time with Game of Thrones, but again you don't need to know about GOT to enjoy. Basically, Enjolras is Daenerys Targaryen, and Grantaire is Khal Drogo, except everyone is a MUCH better person. It's so good and their relationship is just so sweet and lovely. Pls note this fic is rated E and there are some TWs, the author has detailed these in the end notes of each chapter

This fic has Grantaire and the rest of Les Amis living in the 21st century, with canon era Enjolras getting time-zapped to the 21st century and moving in with Grantaire. If anyone tries to harm this Enjolras I will Come For You.

Life, Interrupted series by JJK- A very angsty Time Traveller’s Wife AU when Grantaire involuntarily travels through time. It’s not complete, and given how long it’s been since the last update it’s possible that it’s been abandoned by the author, but it ends on a very hopeful note!

Calm Amidst the Storm by captainskellington- a Mutant AU where Enjolras has a mutation which means he feels everyone in the world’s pain, all the time, and tries to make the world a better place because of it. I absolutely ADORE the last sentence of this fic it is just so wonderful, you’ll have to read it to find out

walls come tumbling down by reptilianraven- a Sky High AU where Enjolras has fire superpowers, Grantaire doesn’t have any powers (or so he thinks)and the first time they meet Enjolras nearly sets Grantaire on fire, lol. Lots of Les Amis banter as well!

Tete a Tete by LaVoileBlanche- (apologies for not putting in the correct accents, unfortunately I am Lazy) Enjolras is a mind reader, and one day he accidentally reads Grantaire’s thoughts and discovers how he feels about him. Honestly this one is just very very fluffy and sweet and it’s what we deserve. Lots of Triumvirate moments as well.

I’ve written a lot of GoUta fics,

Sharing all of them here would take forever. So, just sharing my favorites!

First and foremost, however, I want to say that I adore, absolutely adore (and find myself always re-reading!) onemoreword’s works. These fics are the pinnacle of everything I could want from GoUta. The world this author has created, the grasp they have of the characters -

onemoreword’s writing is simple and straightforward, yet so beautiful, so haunting. They’re the best for me, in a ship with so many awesome authors and stories already. UwU

PrettyKittyLuvsU also holds a special place in my heart! 

Their fics are just so pure and deep. Mine’s are really just surface, just to get me through my brainrot fics. 🤣 I’m trying to write stories with deeper insight into the characters in canon, but, it’s taking me forever to build a story. The rules set by the JJK world, their dynamics, the tone I want to achieve of their relationship, are all so tedious to factor in. Most of what I’ve written are AUs and fluff because I just put in the bickering and teasing and call it a day. xD

I’m trying with Still Blue, This Black Sky, but it’s a new fic. And I’ve just come up with a plot. I’m only updating once I have a draft of the entire story. Posting without one is a pain, I lost my way a lot with 01 and Cast Away. 

I also reread my fics! I write fanfics after all, so I can read my HCs. Hahahaha

1. Drinking Parties - Canon-Compliant, Funny

A series of oneshots following GoUta go from bar to bar. 

And now, there they were. At their drinking party. The drinking party where Gojo said everyone would be going to. It would be fun, he told her. Everyone would have a such a blast, he said.

Honestly, Utahime could only blame herself for being foolish enough to believe him.

This damn idiot. She thought with a glare as she slammed her mug of beer on the table.

"You're really mad." Gojo looks at her with a curiosity. "Why?"

Why? Utahime seethed. "Where the hell is everyone?!" She threw her glass at him. And his infinity just catapulted it away and made a shattering mess on the floor.

"That wasn't nice, Utahime." He shakes his head at her. "It's that time of the month, huh?"

Utahime flushes red the next second. And with an embarrassed cry, she reached out for Gojo's very own glass and flung it at him as well.

"You're paying!" She screamed at him in finality when she's gotten tired of his stupid infinity. And she drops back to her seat and yells for the waitress to serve them a round of beer.

"Drink!" She barks at him when he was just playing with his glass. "Drinking party, my ass." She grumbles to the rim of her mug. And she downed her drink in one go.

2. The Clearing - Series of AUs, Japanese Folklore AU, Samurai AU, Pirate AU

A series of AUs covering soulmates over the course of history.

(Pirate AU)

They were cruising in the high seas when Satoru was leaning on his back against a wooden pillar, idly sharpening his knife. He was whistling to himself when a crew member walks up to him with an anxiousness about him.

"Um, captain," He didn't know what to say; how to say it. "I think I found a stowaway."

Satoru turned to him with a dangerous twitch in his eye.

"What?" He spits with a venom.

And in the next instant, a woman in menswear was thrown before him at the deck.

He took it as a personal offense that anyone dared board his ship without his express approval. Let alone a woman. He spat at her gall. He would have her head, he thinks to himself in a growing spite.

"The sharks are going to be full today." He tells his crew coldly as he looked at the woman who didn't dare face him, whose angry gaze was directed to the wooden floorboards.

"Have any final words before you die?" He asks her to make peace with her inevitable demise.

And when she doesn't speak, Satoru just waves a lazy hand, signaling to his crew to just get it over with.

But before anyone could touch the woman, she speaks in a low voice, "I'll do anything."

Satoru turns to her with a confusion, with a raised brow.

"What?"

And she suddenly looks up at faces him with a fierce glare in her eyes.

"I'll do anything! So, let me stay on board!" She cries. And her hands clench against the wooden boards; the smell of the ocean consuming her; the adventure she's yearned for her whole life was so close she could taste it. "Let me stay!"

Satoru leans back, surprised.

Then, he starts to smile a sinister smile.

"Do you even know what you're saying?"

Utahime clenches her jaw.

"Do you have any idea where we're going?" He laughs at her dryly and crouches down at her; his face patronizing.

"You won't last a day with us."

"You'll get raped."

"You'll get killed."

"You might even just stub your toe and start crying for your mom." He laughs at how ridiculous she was.

Then, he pokes her cheek with the dull end of his knife.

"Don't be stupid."

I can’t even begin to say how much I love this Pirate AU. I love all the AUs in this story. I love everything I write honestly, even if it’s just plain crack. xD 

But, they’re just so cute in this AU. I love them so much. And I owe readers a sequel.... 🤣🤣

3. the most valuable relationship to a sorcerer is friendship - Canon-Compliant, Friends at a wedding, Have a serious conversation, about their life as sorcerers

Uta and Satoru find themselves attending the wedding of a mutual friend. 

He finds her in a bar alone, nursing a drink. And when her gaze drifts from her beverage to him, she almost spits out her drink.

"What are you doing here?!" She cried at him in dismay. And Gojo just chuckled as he approached her.

"You don't have to be so mad about it." He tells her with a small smile. "I'm on vacation."

"You take vacations?" She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Occasionally." Gojo grins at her. "Rarely." He adds. And Utahime frowns at him when he eventually says, "Mostly never."

"You here for the wedding?"

And he laughs again when Utahime just turns away with a deep sigh.

"I am." She sips her drink. And, she fights back the twitch in her eye when Gojo takes the empty seat next to her.

"Shall we go together, then?"

Utahime turns to frown at him.

"You think I came here alone?" She hisses at him in disbelief.

And Gojo just smiles at her. "Didn't you?" Then, he laughs when Utahime relents.

"Fine." She sighs. "I still can't accept that out of everyone I know, I run into you, you of all people, in Hawaii." She groaned to the heavens. And Gojo just chuckles. "In Hawaii, Gojo. Why?" She cried to the heavens for an answer. Why did they have to keep torturing her?

"Must have been something you did in a past life." Gojo offers with a laugh, resting his cheek on the palm of his hand.

Beside him, Utahime's face soured.

4. Sweet - Modern AU, Barista Utahime, Cafe Shop

Uta is worried about the health of one of her regulars. 

"I can't, in good conscience, serve you anymore bubble tea."

"You took an oath or something?" He smirks. "Not to over serve poor salarymen with a sweet tooth?"

Utahime raises a brow and bites back her laugh.

"So," The man leaned over the counter with his smile, looking down at the selection of drinks in the menu laid on the bar. "What would you recommend I get?"

"An americano." She simply tells him and slips cups for a previous order into the plastic melder to seal them.

"All right." The patron smiles, too wide, and too familiar for Utahime's liking.

What was wrong with this guy, she couldn't help but frown in discomfort.

"But, add three tablespoons of honey." The man adds, and laughs at the look of disbelief on Utahime's face. "What? Honey's not sugar."

"It is..." Utahime couldn't believe this guy. "Whatever." She sighs and prepares his order. But, instead of the three spoonfulls of honey, she put a single teaspoon.

And when he drinks it in front of her, she laughs out loud at the disgusted, sour look on his face. And he demanded she give him five packets of sugar.

5. Immature - Canon-Compliant, Gojo “teasing” Utahime, First Meeting, Childhood GoUta

Uta finally meets the kid with the Six Eyes. 

When the family before them leaves, when they're presented as the Iori house, Utahime is fuming red. But she bites her tongue and keeps her mouth shut in respect for her parents, for her relatives around her.

And when she sees how the six year old looked at her condescendingly, slouched forward on his seat, looking at her with his calculating eyes, seemingly appraising her; she starts to shake in a growing rage.

Then, he smirks. The six year old smirks at her.

And something inside her snaps when he tells her, when he chuckles and tells her,

"Did you know?" He smirks at her with a chuckle in his lips. "Did you know you're so weak?"

Red with rage, before her mother could stop her again, Utahime cries out and angrily grabs the empty juice box in front of her; and she throws it at the six year old; hitting him square on the face.

And he flushes. In an instant, he flushes red. A very, very angry, humiliated red.

"Utahime?!" Her mother cried out in dismay.

And Utahime had to be dragged out before she could get her claws at the six year old and set him straight.

6. Red, Blue, and The Purple Moon - Canon-compliant, Post-Shibuya Incident Arc, GoUta living together, Powerless Gojo

GoUta play house.

"Wow," She mouthed, not noticing how Gojo's face paled. "I actually got to hit you for once." She unconsciously ruffled the hair on the top of his head, making the strongest sorcerer twitch in annoyance.

"I can actually hit you, now." She suddenly gripped his head with some force. And Gojo could only look in horror at the murderous glint in her eyes.

"Utahime..." He tries to laugh it off, the growing tension in the air. And he tries to take Utahime's hands in his, tries to pull her hands off him, when Utahime suddenly looks down at him with a demented glare on her face and started chuckling.

"Gojo," She smiles at him sinisterly. "Do you remember," Her hands started to trail down from his hair, from his face to his neck. "Do you remember how you've been calling me weak since we've known each other?"

Gojo tries to smile back, tries to laugh with her; "Of course," He forces a chuckle. "We have our fun, Utahime!"

"Fun?!" Gojo sees the murderous glint flash in her eyes too late. And the next thing he knew, Utahime started choking him and shaking him like there was no tomorrow.

This is my first fic. I’ve had to rewrite this a lot, since I’m learning so much more about their world and the characters. Still, I really love this. I love the fact that Gojo is powerless. HAHAHA. I will definitely find myself editing this fic again. But I love it already as is. 

While I love No Love and 01, and all the other fics, I do not like angst. Just thinking about how it’ll hurt later on is just so painful. I don’t know what’s up with people and pain, but those who’ve read my stories seem to prefer angst. The heck. 🤣 Isn’t JJK canon enough pain for you guys? 🤣🤣

Explain the meaning of your favorite line of dialogue you've written as if someone hasn't read it in context. “He doesn’t know,” Katsuki says, softly. “My timer stopped and nothing happened. He’s not mine.”

the line is from what we deserve!! it's a soulmate au where your timer counts down to the moment that you meet your soulmate!! bakugou's timer ends at USJ when he and kirishima attack kurogiri at the same time (impulsive kings <33) but kirishima's timer doesn't end until kamino because that's when he accepts himself as bakugous soulmate!! unfortunately, when bakugous timer has reached 0, he turned to see that kirishima's was still ticking and therefore believes that kirishima isn't his soulmate.

this line just,, idk. it's really sad. bakugou is such an action-driven character? if something doesn't go his way he Makes it go his way. he's got this insanely volatile quirk and he's got impeccable control of it!! but his love for kirishima isn't something that he can change and he's not going to ruin kirishima's chance of finding his own soulmate because he loves him and wants him to be happy. i really wanted to focus on how resigned he is? and how unusual that is for a character like him.

What colors would you use to describe your writing? hm,,, depends on the fic i would say?? control fraek is dark green to me?? kinda like a forest at night yk?? scary but there's still life there. sugar cookies is yellow like early morning sunlight, when it rains is yellowy-orange like a caution sign. not gonna list all of them cause theres a lot its just. do u get it? the colours change based on the vibe of the fic.

What song or music genre would you use to describe your writing? think. i am constantly trying to emulate that moment at the end of wasteland baby when hozier goes "im in love/im in love with you."

Where do you usually go to write (bedroom, living room, etc.)? mostly in my bedroom??? but moving around to different stops helps too i think!!

CONCEPTUALIZATION

How do you conceptualize your ideas? (See specific moments like they're a movie, writing specific lines in your head, don't know until you put the words on paper, etc.) i tend to get inspiration from movies, books, poems, or other fics!!! sometimes one line just makes me go oh,, i want to write something like that,,, and then it helps me create an idea that makes me feel the same way?? i did this with control fraek!!!! i wanted a scenario where bakugou was cold and calculating and i was like hm. to do that he’d have to be focusing on something important. and from there i was able to flesh out the rest of the idea.

Which comes first: the pairing or the plot? with krbk its always always the pairing,, i'll be sitting there like wow <33 i love them <33 what if one of them had amnesia <33 (which, yes, wip!!) otherwise it's usually the plot!! and i slot in characters that i feel make sense

Have you ever used a prompt? yeah!! used a prompt for wlw week 2020 and it was fun as hell

Do you write around the story around a specific scene you want to get to or do you start from a plot idea definitely the first!!!! i almost always write like,,, a super messy scene thats 90% dialogue, keep it in my head, and then write the entire fic around that one moment

Do you find that you include a projection of some part of yourself in the way you write a character? a lot of the time when i write love confessions or love in general i'll have one of the characters think or say that the other person makes their head quiet? and it's because that's what i feel whenever i'm in love?? a quiet mind. i project on characters yeah but i think most of the projection actually goes to the way that i write love

Do you research some of the things you write deeply, partially and kind of wing the rest, or play entirely by ear (in this case, go with whatever base knowledge of the subject you have)? most of the time if i do research it'll be about the setting (ex. the izakaya in to have and to hold) or if i'm having the characters interact with an object that they like. need to know how to use (me, in control fraek: google. hey google. does someone die if they get shot in the foot??? no???? awesome thank u <3)

Have you ever had an idea for a story and forgot about it? lmaoo yeah all the time i'll find like 500-2k words of concepts in my gdocs like i do. not remember this at all

Are there concepts you've tried that turned out worse than you expected? again, what we deserve, i personally think it would have worked out better if i'd paced it slower and drawn out the pining but i. do not feel like going back to fix it so its staying the way that it is. pining is so fucking hard to do AHHHH i get so tired with it!!! im like just date already!!!!

How do you come up with titles? in rare occasions (literally. all my multichaps for some reason) the title comes after writing like .5 words of the first chapter im like YES this is it!!!!! sometimes i write the whole thing and pick out one line that fits (what i did with come home to me) a lot of the time i just. steal from songs or poems that i like

Usual way you procrastinate while writing? ...doing asks like this, making playlists, discord, watching netflix. what don't i do smh

Do you outline or free write? i am. so shit at outlines. i mostly free write and write lil notes for stuff that i wanna add later

Do you set word goals or scene goals (scenes you want to include)? yes!! like i said i'll write loose notes for scenes that i want to add later!! it gives me something to write towards :D

What do you consider when writing your scenes? what goes into making the atmosphere and mood you want? to set a scene i do two things? the first is like,, the five senses bc that always sets the scene really well and makes it feel Real. i'll visualize stuff in my head like its a movie and write out what i would want to tell the set designer?? if the lights are low, if the space is busy, if it's supposed to exude comfort or not.

for putting forward the character's mood one thing i've found that makes a difference is sentence length!! long sentences are good for making a character seem flustered and nervous or not really in control of their emotions? good for love confessions. short sentences are good for when the character is focused on something or short on time. good for fights!!

What's something you never considered to include in your writing that you can't leave out now? def buff hagakure,,,, once i thought of it i was like. if i don't include this at least once in every single fic how could i look at myself in the mirror!!!!!! how could i face anyone!!!!

How do you start a story? establishing a fact about the character or describing the setting! option a is one single thread of gold, option b is between lion and men

How do you end a story? either by tying it back to the beginning or doing like a funny kind of closing??? option a is sugar cookies, option b is a godless society

How do you get out of writer's block? change something!! move something!! i go from typing to handwriting, moving from my bedroom to my living room, switching wips to work on something else!! i do sprints as well?? give myself like fifteen minutes to write something and sometimes 200 words opens up the way for another 2k. sometimes i'll just delete like 500 words and start fresh

Do you edit? or do you toss your writing out there? i edit!!! i'll go over it myself then send it to one or two betas (bee my beloved <33)

How do you edit? do you use spellcheck, grammar checkers, etc? bee is my grammar checker bc he is So Good with grammar. i use grammarly as well for spellcheck stuff mostly?? sometimes my edit process is just like "am i tired of looking at this!! yes <3" and then i post it

Do you usually like what you write? yeah!!! i post stuff that makes me happy and that i'm fine with rereading!!! i write stuff for self-indulgence reasons first and foremost and i think my writing reflects that sjhnksj

Have you ever written something you didn't like but posted anyways? nope!! even what we deserve i LIKED even if i see a lot of room 4 improvement!! if i don't like smth it's not getting posted

Do you find yourself rereading your writing often? yeah!! the reason i wrote so much krbk secret relationship is because i loved it but i'd read all that there was so i just,, wrote more,, ngl its kinda nice being in a place where i actually like my writing bc i can write stuff that i want to see and really enjoy it!!

Can you tell us anything about your current WIP? sure!! i'm currently working on when it rains which is a fic where bakugou gets hit by a crying quirk!! i'm gonna be using it to explore So Much of all might's character and his relationships with bakugou and aizawa (and i think some people from his past!!)

Can you give us a sneak peek on your current WIP? “You did something. What the hell did you do?” Kirishima sounds pissed off. It would amuse Katsuki if he wasn’t fighting just to stay standing.

“Nothing he didn’t ask for,” Shinsou replies.

“K’ri… shima,” Katsuki croaks out. “‘S fine. Not him.”

His chest collapses back into the familiar dry heaving after that but Kirishima shuts up. He doesn’t apologize to Shinsou.

Kirishima’s a good friend, stubborn and loyal. He stands by Katsuki’s side like an attack dog, blocking him from the view of anyone ogling at his tears.

The last line you've written Ochako knows more than she'd realized. She knows enough to keep her guard up.

What's your favorite thing about writing? touched on this before but it's mainly just being able to write the things that i want to see and actually enjoy them!!! actually reread them!!!! i thought "wouldn't it be cool if bkg and kirishima owned a restaurant together" and then i wrote it and i like it enough to reread it!!!! being able to create content for myself makes me. so happy

How do you keep yourself inspired? this is gonna sound narcissistic maybe but honestly i'm just really excited about my ideas and where i'm gonna take them and the idea of "i'm gonna get to That scene" keeps me going through the entire thing. also my friends!!!! i'll talk to them about fics and their reactions keep me hyped up enough to finish!!!!

What is your favorite thing to write? just,, slice of life romance,,, stuff thats silly and makes people laugh!!

What do you think your strengths are in writing? i'm good with dialogue!! i do lil voice acting sessions with myself to make sure everything sounds natural and like it's coming from that character skhjnskj

i'm comfortable with my portrayal of love as well??? i spend a lot of time thinking about what it is exactly that i'm trying to get across and i think it turns out well!!

What are things you wish you could practice more? on one hand i wanna get better at writing angst on the other hand i dislike writing angst. do you see my issue

One way you've improved your writing since you began? characterization!! i think i've gotten better at writing characters that are all Different and bring different things to the table!!! i used to project a lot more and it would compromise the characterization because the character was like 70% me and 30% them? not to say that projection is bad but if you do it too much it just,, doesn't read like the character and from a reader's standpoint the narrative can become less compelling

One aspect of writing you're still working on? writing action!!! i. literally hate writing it but i write for a fandom about superheroes so. Unfortunately i gotta learn.

A piece of writing advice you've learned while writing saw this on another tumblr post but they said sometimes if you're struggling with a scene, the problem is five lines back. i've found that to be true!!!! sometimes u gotta delete a chunk and start a little ways back!! i did this with too busy being yours because i was stuck for Weeks and i deleted like 25% of what i had but it helped me actually finish it :D

Something you wish you knew when you first started writing? ,,,,honestly i kind of wish i could know some of the stuff that i used to when i first started writing?? technically i'm better now but creatively i was must better when i wasn't stressing about whether anyone would like what i was writing. so i guess i wish i knew that i should keep that confidence? i kinda wish that i wasn't as insecure about other people's writing styles because i never used to be!!

Something you've learned in life that you apply in writing there's no point in feeling inferior?? writing one genre isn't better than the other. being in one fandom isn't better than being in another. the kind of language you use or the length of your paragraphs- none of that stuff like. matters. what matters is that you're having fun and happy with what you're creating!!!! enjoy other peoples writing but don't let it make you feel worse about yours :D

Hey, so a friend recently asked for Stucky fic recs, which made my year because she's barely in the fandom, but it's also a challenge, because she has a trauma disorder and I don't want to suggest anything that would trigger her. Do you have any recs that have 0 mentions of trauma or angst? I know that it's a favorite trope with our guys, because even the fluff I find is hurt/comfort.

Oh, yeah, I can see how it would be difficult to find angst/trauma-free fics in this fandom. Hm. I can definitely give a few recommendations, but I’ll split them up by canon and AU, since, honestly, you’re more likely to find pure fluff in an AU but if your friend isn’t that deep into the fandom she might want canon-based fics.

Also: I have read all of these, but I’m filtering through my bookmarks, taking out anything related to angst, PTSD, etc, but not everyone tags things like that, especially if they consider it a given in the fandom that Bucky or Steve are going to be experiencing some issues related to either of their traumas. It’s also been months or years since I’ve read some of these; nothing stood out to me as bad when I made this list, but I will be more than happy to give them a more thorough look if you’d prefer that before showing them to your friend. Just let me know, and you can message my main account @greyhavensking if you’d prefer to do it more privately.

AU:

Little League by JJK is a short-ish fic featuring former baseball player Steve and a Bucky who loves his nephew enough to brave his little league games. It’s been a bit since I read this, but it is mainly fluff as far as I remember; there’s some paintball involved and some... I guess you’d call it identity porn? Bucky doesn’t recognize Steve at first, I mean. Steve does discuss his mom’s death from an illness and the impact that had on him, as well. If that works out, there’s a sequel, but the rating does go up in that one (just to Mature, but I don’t know what people are comfortable with).

Captain Cosplay by Ignisentis and alby_mangroves is a Captain America Steve Rogers/Modern Bucky Barnes fic which. Well. The big feature of the fic is Bucky cosplaying Steve using some strangely accurate materials. I haven’t read this one in a couple years, but I don’t recall there being anything angsty in it. But I would be more than happy to give it a re-read if you want a more in-depth answer, though I would also suggest at least glancing at these before showing them to your friend, as I don’t know the specifics and am unsure exactly what would be triggering for her.

say you’ll bee mine by deceptivesoldier, obsessivereader, and talkplaylove is another Cap!Steve/Modern!Bucky fic. Lots of bee puns, lots of the boys being cute. Again, since this is Cap!Steve and it’s his POV, there might be a mention of his experiences/mental health that I’m not remembering, so the offer stands if you’d like me to re-read this one and then get back to you.

This is a series by Alexicon, most of which are short and sweet, and while I haven’t read all of them, the ones I did read feature little to no angst. Except for Blood Is Thicker Than Carpet Cleaner; that opens with a fight scene between Steve and several bad guys, and there’s another one later in the fic where Bucky joins in. Bucky’s past as the Winter Soldier is also briefly discussed, so I would probably skip that one altogether, depending on what your friend can handle

The Run and Go by lupus is a college AU, and the tags seem to line up with what I remember of this fic: no angst, primarily fluff. I think if there’s any angst it’s related to them pining after each other.

Canon:

Fill My Lungs with Sweetness by starclipped is a post-WS fic, and WS!Bucky just sort of comes with a warning, you know? I don’t think it has any bearing on the majority of the fic, though, but it’s been a while since I first read this one and I can’t be 100% certain. It’s fluffy and domestic and it’s Christmas, but sometimes people sneak in some angst without tagging it because they don’t consider it necessary, so. 

Once Upon Some Bullshit by machine_dove and Sproings features WS!Bucky having to deal with the aftermath of an encounter with Enchantress -- which in this case is a Steve that keeps transforming into animals. I don’t think either of them end up seriously injured or anything similar in this fic. Bucky is, obviously. frustrated and worried about Steve, but. Like I said, it’s been a while. 

...Christ, I really thought I had more that fit the criteria here. Canon is... mostly angst, and that’s becoming really apparent to me right now. I’m sorry if this isn’t the most helpful rec list, especially because I seem to be relying so much on memory.
