I CANNOT stop thinking about how appropriate it is while romancing C, because mc, as ophelia, is essentially already the tragic other half (who may or may not be fated to die/only exists in one universe/may be doomed already in their own narrative based off hints so far) to the young, mad prince of C as hamlet (often compared to a fallen angel, prone to fits of emotional/psychologic disturbance, angel of vengeance). it's tearing my ass up

I finished the entire delightful children saga along with Tommy and co. finally dropping in to carry out that epic battle with Father. Meaning, I’m at the Save Rachel from the Evil Building arc. Putting a pause on the Kuki & Delightful children analysis just to generally comment on everything thus far.

Dawg you have me gagged and gooped every chap /pos. Every time someone pops up, it feels like some kind of Avengers Endgame moment & I’m pointing at the screen like “oh hey! That’s minor character blorbo from that one episode!” Genuinely how many rewatches did u have to go thru to get everyone in the narrative like that omg? And which minor character (aside from the gknd gang Ofc) were you so psyched to add in there? I mean I was already so hyped with the Steve but I was definitely pleasantly pleased at the 3 surprise cameos for Zero’s trip to the inner sanctum. Tho tbf you’ve been doing this since (check notes) 2010?! I was like 11, knd operative age omg.

Another fun thing I noticed as I was the almost cyclical tragedy going on within and outside of the knd that’s very prevalent within the story. You already have the insane weight of the Soopreme Leaduh role and as I’ve mentioned before, the tragedy of the dedicated knd operative version of the trolley problem. For now, I just want to touch on that of the Wigglestein-Uno family. If the Delightful Children are doomed by the narrative via tragic circumstances (the love was there but it was too late) then Father is akin to a guy stuck in a pit & digging himself even lower. Maybe the pit is all he knows and it’s easier that way. You can’t get hurt if you bite every hand that’s ever beckoned you to come. Because they could never reach out to you in a way that you want. Because its easier if it’s their fault for not being able to be in the pit with you. Because if they��re able to grow up and move on then what was it all for? He’ll always be that lil kid at the factory. It’s like that quote! If you live with an angry man in your house, you’ll always look for him when he’s not there. Sometimes you become that angry man yourself. Glad Nigel was out in space for a good while cuz OOF he’d have to unpack a lot of that. That being said, thanks for exploring such untapped potential with these two being at odds. Two guys who never actually wanted to grow up at first. But only one of them was able to grow up where it counts instead of stubbornly subjecting the world to the biggest & longest tantrum ever. I actually liked that it’s almost always someone else beating father like Tommy cuz he’s really that pathetic when it comes down to it. That said, I am also digging the slight parallels between Father and Rachel that you’re putting down where it feels like the knd as an organisation takes the people you live away from you by having them give their devotion to the organisation first. And the resentment that comes from being seen as the second choice to it.

“The Lament of the Inner Child” is essentially Father’s chapter and just me exploring him like you’ve already mentioned. Your pit analogy and overall analysis is pretty spot on to how I wanted it to be handled! Thank you so much 😊

ugh wendigoon is covering uzumaki and Shuichi is soooo doomed by the narrative. one of my favorite examples tbh. ough oof being able to see the cursed cycle everyone around you is falling into but being helpless to break them out because their minds are already gone to it. so all you can do is watch. he has to watch his parents lose their sanity and die while he remains lucid but broken goddd. do you think of those who watch their own families or friends lose themselves to metaphorical spirals in reality? do you wonder, if somewhere under the layers of lovecraftian terror, it feels a little like that?

also love how Kirie and Shuichi are a m/f pair that doesn’t depress me by feeling weirdly forced and empty, and it’s probably because their relationship isn’t the focus of the story. ‘here’s our audience surrogate protag, here’s her boyfriend. they witness the horrors.’ which backfires into being fairly compelling to me because them caring about each other isn’t shown through performative romantic gestures- but through Shuichi being ride or die and choosing to stay with Kirie when he could’ve been trying to escape. And eventually, instead of escaping the spiral city, she stays with him. It’s not a romance, it’s a tragedy where these two characters face the collapse of reality together to the bitter end. the story just happens to mention he’s her boyfriend at the beginning.

not even just leos last brother, but his BABY brother. mikey, the youngest, the heart and soul of the hamatos, being asked by his big brother who he looks up to so dearly to sacrifice himself for the greater good. and of course he does!! immediately and with zero question!!! mike trusts his brother with his life, quite literally, and throws himself into the sun as soon as it's asked of him. and leo knew he would!! he knew mikey was ready and willing, and knew he had no other choice than to use the loyal adoration of his little brother to ultimately kill himself in order to save the only being that actually had a chance. and speaking of that being, he saw Everything. casey watched every single one of his family members die, and then saved the world right after. yes, the new timeline exists. no, leo and his family never got to see it. but casey did. and he has to ALONE. how is he supposed to find comfort knowing that this great new world exists for him to live in when HIS family, the ones that raised him and loved him as their own, will never get to experience it???? THE GRIEF oh it kills me. leo watched everyone die, but ultimately met them again in his own death. casey watched everyone die, and then had to KEEP LIVING. i can't this 5 minute opening scene had such a detrimental impact on my psyche i could scream about it forever.

oh im so NORMAL about doomed narrative portal duo ;__; we're not given much insight for how long its just been the two of them but the fact that they're able to wordlessly agree on the plan that is essentially mikey blowing himself up, shows us that this had been on the cards for some time now. i imagine just before this battle takes place, mikey reassuring leo that it was going to be okay, knowing what his big brother was potentially going to have to ask of him. leo running through those ruins hoping against every ounce of whatever was left that he didn't need to call upon it... only for that being the case anyway :( and that being the catalyst for him being pretty okay with dying too, knowing that they'd done their part and there was essentially nothing left for him now anyway... OUCH !! imagine leo having to come to terms with the fact when he knows that he himself cant make that ultimate sacrifice, it has to be mikey. and then having to chose the fate of the world over his last remaining brother. his little brother that would move mountains on his word... DOUBLE OUCH !!!

and yes your point about casey is so right! i think it would really freak me out majorly to go through all of that and then essentially live with your family that was just... slightly wrong. it makes me squirm to think about. imagine it: these are the people you know! the people you've grown up with, but like, a little to the left of what you know. just a fraction off but enough to be noticeable. sure, it's a much better, safer and happier future than the one you've come from and you can sleep well at night knowing the threat is gone and you can have a normal life. but boy wouldn't you still mourn the fact that the versions of the sensei and uncles you once knew are dead and gone... forever? that would really mess with me i think. he can't even properly grieve them because... they're like.. right there. they're technically not dead but he's still missing the other versions of them that he's known his whole life.

that opening scene from the movie is just so so good i think about it a lot. tmnt does some really good horrible insights to horrible futures that lay in store for the turtles (2012, the last ronin) and this rise bad future definitely sits up there with those because WOW its depressing as hell when you really think about it ! oof. thanks for the ask :')

I think it is not said enough in the community, or rather, it is somewhat shamed in TGCF rpc, to ship Xie Lian and Jun Wu. I saw a lot of interpretations/headcanons/narratives of Jun Wu and Xie Lian sharing a familiar, often father/son (heir) relationship. I disagree. Jun Wu's obsession with Xie Lian begins with an envious realization that Xie Lian is everything that Jun Wu should have been during his reign in Wuyong. And even two thousand years later, despite his annihilation of the previous heavenly court, now at the top of the food chain as Heavenly Emperor himself, Jun Wu cannot fathom someone like Xie Lian being worshipped in such a way. He gives him trials, tribulations, he forces Xie Lian to kill his people and doom his kingdom, and even in that hatred, Xie Lian emerged to be beloved by many. Jun Wu does not care about Hua Cheng's devotion to Xianle because he sees how obsessed HC is as well, in his own way. He respects that obsession, although he thinks Xie Lian does not deserve Hua Cheng's "love" since it forgives Xianle and does not push his limits to become a villain and rule the world with a blackened blade. But this is important because Jun Wu does not want Xie Lian to be this "heir" to some throne. He also does not want to be a mentor to Xie Lian. He literally wants to become Xie Lian, to relive the greatness of Wuyong through the misery of Xianle. Jun Wu becomes so sick with this desire that his envious pursuit and possessiveness trickles into a dangerous, intimate territory. He wants to crawl into Xie Lian's skin, wants to fuse them together as one. I think some people thought that, depending on the translations of the TGCF novels, Jun Wu wanted Xie Lian to give in to the WNF temptation and take over heaven, rule together as "king and prince". I did not read it in that way. Jun Wu wants another half that is just like HIM, a carbon copy he can touch, bite, bleed, and call by a name that no longer means Xianle. We all saw how he touches Xie Lian, how he gives him favor, how he tortures him so intimately that there is not a single shadow of doubt in me about their relationship. Yes, Jun Wu wants to kill Xianle, he also wants to touch him, to sleep with him (both sexually and territorially). Because for Jun Wu, it is all a matter of control. It is a matter of corrupting Xianle in every possible way, the way Wuyong was corrupted by hatred. Jun Wu's resentment is his love language, and yes, I think his abusive love for Xie Lian pushes him to create all these challenges and problems for himself. Although it is funny to me, but I do not see him being jealous of Hua Cheng. He is just mad the guy is in the way, but he does not mind "sharing". Anyway, that's my piece on it. I think people who come on here and spit out abuse and shame at people who ship JunLian (calling them incestuous) are illiterate cowards. I also think that really goes for any ship that is out here that gets hate for no legitimate reason. Like what you like (you want father/son dynamic, more power to you but don't act like I am wrong and you are God). Then again, I think it's funny when people mald over villain writers.
