INTERESTING!!!! i feel like my favorite aesthetic is just like. 18th-19th century period pieces in general. but it’s gotta have either a very soft exquisite romantic vibe, and/or some kind of fun/spunky energy, if that makes sense. like for example the crown doesn’t fit in because it’s too close to modern and also too serious (though i still love it!!!) and same with downton abbey. i enjoy myself but it doesn’t fit into THIS particular aesthetic. anyway idk i’m probably overthinking this sorry:

1: Favorite episode and why

I can’t remember where it is in s2, but I love the one where Sybil finally confesses she loves Tom.

2: Funniest/crackiest/it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode/scene

Anything with Maggie Smith was hilarious. I love the scene (I think in s5 or 6?) where Violet is ill and Isobel’s been nursing her back to health and they’re playing cards and she’s absolutely exhausted by all of Isobel’s attention but carries on.

3: It’s-terrible-and-I-hate it episode/scene

Okay, I hate the episode where Sybil dies, but it is an incredibly emotional episode. The acting alone is breathtaking, but I hardly ever watch it because it makes me cry.

4: Best episode/scene for my favorite character

Sybil remains my favorite and I love the scene where she’s desperately trying to find some purpose and is baking cakes in the kitchen and just completely failing.

5: Best episode/scene for my favorite ship

When Tom and Sybil run away and get caught and Sybil goes back to Downton, but she promises Tom she’s still going to marry him. Absolutely gets me every time.

6: Best episode/scene for a particular supporting character

Anyone who knows me knows that I can’t stand Lily James, but I do love the scene in what I believe is the finale where Rose takes Robert to see Cora speaking at the hospital, I believe? It was a moment where you could tell Rose had matured, which was desperately needed lol.

7: Best episode/scene for a character I don’t usually like

Not gonna lie, I wasn’t the biggest Daisy fan, but I loved when she and Mr. Mason finally had lunch and they started to develop that relationship after William’s death.

8: Most visually beautiful or interesting episode/scene

I adore the scene in the first movie (yes, I’m jumping screens lol) where Carson and Mrs. Hughes are walking home and the camera pulls back to reveal the whole house. I also love the scene where Edith is walking in the morning and the sun is just rising so perfectly.

9: Most emotionally affecting episode/scene

Either Sybil’s death or William’s death.

10: Most powerful use of music in an episode/scene

The score to the whole show was just magnificent. My favorite has always been Love and the Hunter, which plays primarily in 1x02 (might be 1x03) when Mary’s hunting with Mr. Pamuk and Evelyn Napier.

11: Episode/scene that changed my perspective on the show

I think the s1 finale was a game changer for me because it showed just how serious of a place we were going in the next season. Yes, it’s a show about tea and dresses and petty little problems, but once it started handling the war, it took a whole different turn.

12: Episode/scene where the acting stands out

I cannot remember the episode but the scene where Anna and Bates finally talk about Anna being r**** was just…some of the best acting they’d ever done.

I really don’t think I can pick just one episode. I think s3 was the most well-written season, though.

yesterday. i was watching downton abbey and they killed off a beloved character. watching ppl mourn her GOT ME. my last Serious cry… no clue but it was probably within the last week. i’m kinda weepy.

all the time. just about constantly, i think. i rarely even notice myself doing it.

ROLLER DERBY !!!! i played for about two years and i miss it Every Day. i often look at my roller skates and yearn for my times playing derby. did i injure my knee? yes! is it probably still fucked up? maybe! it’s worth it though idc. i got a black eye my first game and i may never have such a rush again. my captain burst into a room to stare at my face and then only said ‘gnarly.’ bitches were jealous of my injury.

Getting to know you meme

Favourite time of year: I would have once said Autumn because it’s when my birthday is and I do enjoy the changing of the seasons into those colder months, when things gets crispy and the leaves turn and there’s this nostalgia to the air that’s inexplicable. However, it was a really long dreary winter this year, and we’ve just got into summer here in NZ and I’m really loving the longer days and balmy weather so I may have been converted recently into a summer-lovin person.

Comfort foods: To quote Oprah, “I love bread. I love bread!” I love carbs and pasta and cheese and pizza and I always always will. I also have a raging sweet tooth and chocolate is my downfall.

Do you collect anything: Not really in a deliberate ‘I’m a serious collector’ way, but I do have quite a stash of Funko Pops, although I don’t keep them safe in their boxes or anything. In fact, my little cousins enjoy playing with them when they come round, and the other day we had an epic game where I acted out the whole of ‘The Amber Spyglass’ with my Lyra, Marisa and Asriel Pops. I used Will Byers as Will Parry, and a tiny lego dinosaur as Lord Roke who my 6 year-old cousin renamed ‘Lil Rick’.

Favourite drinks: My go to alcoholic drink is a G & T, or a Pina Colada if I’m somewhere that does cocktails. I love anything creamy, milky and sweet, so if there’s ever the opportunity for a thick-shake, I will slorp that up.

Favourite music artists: Completely and unequivocally my number one fave is Cher. I’m absolutely obsessed with her. When I was 5 my mum sat me down to watch her big farewell tour which was on TV over Christmas. I don’t remember much except being utterly transfixed by her, and when my mum explained that this was the last tour she would ever do (ha!) my young brain thought this meant she would literally never be seen or heard from again (something akin to death), and I distinctly remember lying in bed that night wishing with all my might that she would come back. Skip forward 15 years and I saw her live in Auckland (a transcendent experience), so my wish really did come true! 

Current favourite songs: I’m still listening to Taylor Swift’s Midnights on repeat, my Spotify says that my most played song right now is ‘You’re On Your Own Kid’ which I loveee. I’m currently obsessed with Lorne Balfe’s ‘Love Across Worlds’ from the HDM S3 anthology soundtrack, it goes so hard. I’m also still really vibing with Michael & Michelle’es EP, especially ‘The Watching Silence’ which was apparently my most played song this year! It does crack me up that they’re just Lady Mary and Andy the footman from Downton Abbey though lol.

Favourite fics: Literally every single thing @jamlavender has ever written, we are sooooo lucky to have her bringing Masriel to life in all their beautiful deranged sexy messed up glory. My two greatest favourites of hers would have to be ‘Unholy Ghosts’ because it was something I requested specifically and Ellie was so generous in fulfilling my prompt better than I could ever have imagined. I’m also obsessed with ‘Aelysium’ which hit me so damn hard but gave Masriel a bittersweet and perfect ending.  

Favourite video games: I am not a gamer unless you count the childhood years of Poptropica and Neopets which were epic times!

Categories of Media Preference

Just finished the series. I won't talk too much, because Spoilers, but it really was *good* like, there's a few categories of me liking media. I'll list them out. 1) Meh. Neither like, nor dislike. Honestly, I'm going to put this as the worst media because it's forgettable. I just don't care, and that's the worst crime for a piece of art in any medium. I can't tell you a piece that has me like this because *I can't remember them* ... except maybe "Lost Boys" But I'm giving that one a pass because I was high as tater tots when I watched that. 2) Dislike: either because I think it's just boring (Woman of Labrador. Honestly, could have been good but the way it was written was just a slog) or because I think the work has serious issues that I hate (Twilight. Bella and that whole, "Oh, this werewolf mommy had her face mauled off by her husband, and she still stayed? she's a real hero! Yeah, GFY with that shit ) 3) Normie-like: I like this the way a normal person may like things. Disney movies, the new He-Man, Downton Abbey, The Handmaid's tale, Our Flag Means Death. They're good, and maybe I can see WHY people would dive into the fandom, but for whatever reason they don't hit that little core of my brain that triggers the Hyperfixation Station. 4) Artist-Admiration: This is stuff that makes me want to create. Stuff where, when it's done, I fear I'll never create anything that moves anyone the way THIS piece moved me. This *can* ebb into the next level, but not always. Examples include the new "Interview with the Vampire" "InkHeart" and "Balders Gate" 5) Hyperfixation station: Do I need to explain. This Piece of Media has hit me so hard and fast (And often just a single aspect of it has grabbed my brain) That I enter a Hyperfixation tornado. I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THE MEDIA and i have to do fanfic, fanart, I have to TALK ABOUT THE THING. AT GREAT LENGTH. whether YOU WANT ME TO OR NOT. For examples here, scroll through my Tumblr. Balders Gate, Hellavua Boss, She-Ra (Specifically Entrapdak), the New Albion Tetraology, ect, ect. Anyway, that's just me letting y'all know the LEVELS of like or dislike I can have for media XD. ... when it comes to disliking media for being problematic, it has to have real world consequence. I don't dislike Game of Thrones for *Waves vaguely in it's direction*. I do refuse to participate in anything involving Harry Potter because THAT gives Joanne Terfling a bigger platform, which DOES cause real world harm.

‘Oldies are doing well’ Phyllis Logan hails older generations as Downton helps BritsDOWNTON Abbey star Phyllis Logan says it was “fabulous” to be reunited with the cast and production crew to shoot a second film due out early next year. The sequel follows on from the events of the first film released two years ago, which was set in 1927 with Robert and Cora Crawley, the Earl and Countess of Grantham, receiving a visit from King George V and Queen Mary during a royal tour of Yorkshire. Filming of the second film, which sees Dominic West, Hugh Dancy and Laura Haddock join original stars including Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern, started at Highclere Castle in Hampshire in April and finished in June. Phyllis, 65, who has portrayed Downton housekeeper Mrs Hughes in all six series of the original ITV drama and reprised the role for both films, said: “It was fabulous to be reunited with the cast again, we had such a lovely time, but it was over far too quickly. “During the six seasons that we did (for TV) we usually started filming in the February and finished in the autumn, so we had a good six months of each other, and now it is curtailed into a matter of weeks, so it was done a bit too quickly but we had a great time. “There is lots of nice, really fun stuff in it, I must say and some lovely star turns.” Phyllis, who is also the narrator of fly-on-the-wall TV show The Highland Vets, which starts its fourth series on Channel 5 tomorrow (MON) night, believes period dramas like Bridgerton and Downton have provided much-needed escapism during the past 18 months of the Covid-19 pandemic. She says: “With the likes of Downton Abbey it looks so magnificent, the costumes are magnificent and the mores of the time are different where you don’t air-kiss and have to be suited and booted, and straight-laced, well certainly outwardly.. who knows what they got up to behind closed doors. “But we try to show some of this too and the public just can’t get enough of this type of costume drama. “Everyone has been bingeing or re-bingeing on their favourite shows just to give them a sense of normality. “If you can watch Bridgerton, if you can watch Downton Abbey, or your favourite comedy show, you think the world is ok now, or get a sense that life is continuing in a fashion.” Downton has also led the way in using older actors in prominent roles at a time when TV and film has been criticised for being ageist. Phyllis says: “It’s been fabulous and long may this continue. With Dame Maggie (Smith), Dame Penelope (Wilton), myself and Jim Carter, the oldies are doing well.” Her husband Kevin McNally, who is also 65, is best known for portraying Joshamee Gibbs in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films but joined the cast of Downton for its second series on ITV as Horace Bryant. Phyllis says: “It was nice to have my husband in Downton as well but it was very peculiar the way it happened. “He was on set at one point and said I have just been offered this job and I said ‘oh, what is it?’ And he said Downton Abbey, and I said ‘very funny, what’s the job?’ And he said Downton Abbey and I said ‘oh come on, I haven’t got time, I’ve got to go back on set’. And he was being serious. “They did not even tell me they were going to offer it to him and I thought they should have run it past me first, surely.” She adds: “And it ended up with most of the scenes we were involved in being together, which was unusual. “In normal circumstances as he was playing a posh person and I was playing the housekeeper as usual, I thought our paths would never cross but the way the storyline worked we were always together. “So sometimes we got picked up in a car together to bring us to the castle and it felt like ‘bring your husband to work day’, so I thought ‘what is going on?’” Phyllis, who also starred as Lady Jane Felsham in Lovejoy with Ian McShane for eight years, met Kevin, who portrayed Bernard Ingham in The Crown last year, when they co-starred in mini-series Love and Reason in 1994. Since then they had only appeared together in short films and an episode of comedy show Rab C Nesbitt until their joint stint in Downton, but Phyllis says she would be happy to work together again in the future. And Kevin’s help was vital when it came to recording the narration for The Highland Vets, which follows the vets, nurses and receptionists at DS McGregor & Partners veterinary practice in Thurso, Caithness, as they treat animals in the remote northern tip of the UK mainland. After recording the first couple of episodes of series one in a studio in London’s Soho, Phyllis has been forced to do her narrations since the first lockdown in March last year from the study of her home in west London. She says: “Kevin was my sound engineer for the Highland Vets. They sent all this equipment and I was so useless at using it that Kevin was thankfully around and on hand to be my sound engineer.” The fourth series of the Highland Vets, which contains seven hour-long episodes, starts with the vets treating a young Common seal spotted struggling on a beach by a walker. She adds: “I haven’t done many narrations. I enjoy this one because it is such a lovely programme, there is always something different cropping up, so it is a pleasure to do it.” As a result of the repeated lockdowns for the pandemic she has yet to travel up to Caithness to meet the staff at the vets. But Prince Charles did pay them a visit during a two-day tour of Scotland, where he is known as the Duke of Rothesay, at the end of last month (JULY). Unfortunately the TV cameras were not there at the time but wearing a kilt, he was welcomed by senior vet and director Guy Gordon, who introduced him to his team, including Katie Reiss, 22, who had only started work a few days earlier. Ms Reiss said: “It’s an unorthodox start to work! We spoke about my training at Edinburgh University and chatted about how the vets have been really helpful integrating me into work. “He (Charles) said to stick at it and not lose hope because I have wanted to be a vet since I was a wee kid.” Guy says: “We felt honoured that Prince Charles was keen to visit our veterinary practice to meet the staff and learn about what we do. “He stayed with us for about 45 minutes chatting about aspects of our work with genuine interest and insight. “The light drizzle didn’t dampen this special occasion nor cause him to hurry, he took time to engage with everyone. “So they have the royal seal of approval.” She adds she loves getting to see The Highland Vets before anyone else to do its narration. “There are a few sad bits that do not go to plan but it is so heartfelt.. and the fact that they are in that location which is absolutely spectacular, that they all love it, they love their lives, their jobs, their workmates, their animals. “It’s just beautiful and lovely and life-affirming stuff, even when things go wrong.” Phyllis also stars in a film, The Last Bus, with Timothy Spall which they shot two years ago but has just been released. It tells the story of an old man whose wife has just died using his free bus pass to travel to the other end of the UK, where they originally lived, with her ashes in a small suitcase. “Oh Maisie.” Georgie cried, “It was the most embarrassed I think I’ve been in my entire life.” She took a long sip of her wine as she slouched into the sofa, the tv playing the medal ceremony of the England vs Italy game - Italy taking the victory. 

Maisie wrapped her arm around Georgie’s shoulders, “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.” She said softly. 

“Not that bad.” Georgie screeched, her wine splashing slightly over Maisie’s legs. Hastily, Georgie tried to wipe it off, Maisie chuckled and pushed her hands away. “What I mean to say is, I’m sure Lando didn’t think anything of it.” Maisie corrected herself, shaking her head at Georgie’s apologetic glance. 

“Maisie, I stood there like a fish.” She imitated a fish opening and closing its mouth. 

“Take me through what happened again-”

“I’m Lando Norris. I drive for McLaren. As it turns out, you and I are about to attend the same meeting.” 

Georgie stopped in her tracks, “You mean to say, we are now colleagues.” 

Lando’s face dulled and he furrowed his eyebrows. “I suppose we are. Yes.” The pair stood awkwardly, Lando’s hand placed behind his neck looking up at the sky whilst Georgie had found something very interesting on the floor. 

“Well I suppose I should-” Lando started as Georgie braved to look up. 

“Yes, yeah, wouldn’t want to be late” She forced a chuckle, going to walk forward when they remembered - they were heading in the same direction. 

Maisie cringed as her best friend recounted the story. “So what happened after that?” 

“That’s when I bumped into you…” 

Lando had given up trying to make small talk about 5 minutes ago - whatever he thought was there was now gone; for some reason he just couldn’t break the awkward air that seemed to be stuck to them. He looked over to her, face furiously red and her expression hardened. He swung his arms by his side and kissed his teeth - she made no reaction. Georgie was trapped in a battle of her own thoughts, she was sure there was a connection between the two of them; something she had wanted to act on but now… She looked behind her, in hopes of finding it strewn on the ground. 

“There you are, Georgie.” A voice called out, immediately the girl’s face snapped up and she seemed to let out a sigh of relief. Hurt flashed Lando’s face but she didn’t seem to notice. “I’ve been looking all over for you.” Her words trailed off as she motioned towards Lando. 

“Maisie, meet Lando - he drives for McLaren.” Georgie introduced Lando, stepping closer to him. Lando raised his hand up in acknowledgement, smiling warmly at Maisie. “Lando, meet Maisie - she’s my business partner.” 

“It’s nice to meet you.” Maisie said, opening up her arms to go to hug him. Lando accepted, wrapping his arms awkwardly around Maisie. Once she had returned to where she was standing before, she said: “Suppose it won’t be the last time we see you either.” She winked at Georgie. 

Maisie clicked her fingers, “Oh yes, I remember now. So that’s why it felt so awkward walking up to you.” Maisie set her wine down and moved to face Georgie, a pained expression still painted onto her face. “Did you at least get his number?”

“As a matter of fact-” 

Max Fewtrell looked at his watch for the fifth time in the space of 30 seconds. They were going to be late for the football match. He shook his head, scoffing at the irony of Lando priding himself in his punctuality. It wasn’t until he looked up that he realised Lando was only a few feet away from him, ambling slowly and staring at something in his hands. “Lando, mate. We’re going to be late” Max called out, however this wasn’t enough to break Lando out of his trance. 

Storming up to him, it was only when Max was about to poke him that Max stopped and stared as well. In Lando’s hand appeared to be a business card. 

“Why have you got a-” Max squinted at the cursive name at the top. “The little moments- what-” Confused was one word to describe how Max was feeling, so much so he almost forgot why he was so urgent for them to leave. 

“I - uh - I met a girl.” Lando stammered, still staring at the card, his forehead furrowed. 

“And that’s why you have a business card? Lando, football!” Max prompted, rolling his eyes and made to move forward when Lando added: “I think this was her trying to give me her number.” 

Max turned back to face Lando, his face lit up, “What?” He chortled. Whatever trance Lando was in, he seemed to snap out of it and pocketed the card. 

“You’re right, let’s get going.” Lando walked past Max, who was standing staring after Lando, completely dumbfounded. 

“But - what!” Max followed hurriedly, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “Was she pretty?” 

“Very.” Lando said. 

“You gave him your business card?” Maisie doubled over in laughter, Georgie stared at her unamused. 

“Well, if it wasn’t for you I would have given it to him like a normal person but you insisted on dragging me out of the Marquee.” Georgie quipped sharply. 

“In my defence, we were going to be late for the-” 

The pair looked at Georgie’s phone as it lit up and began to shriek the theme tune of ‘Downton Abbey.’ After Maisie’s incredulous look, Georgie went to pick it up, muttering under her breath: “I can’t work out how to change it back - don’t give me that look.” 

The number wasn’t one she recognised, she picked up anyway, scrunching up her face. “Hello.”

“Hi.” A breathless voice replied, Georgie recognised the voice but she couldn’t quite place who. She must have stayed silent for longer than she intended because the caller added, “It’s Lando. Lando Norris.” 

“Lando? Hey.” She stood up, her voice instantly softening. “How are you?” There was a beat of silence. 

“I’m sorry I don’t know why I called-” Lando stuttered apologetically, Georgie felt her heart sink. She repeated herself, trying to hide the disappointment in her voice. “Are you alright?” 

“I - no. I just - I needed to - There was an incident and I’m on my own but-” Georgie cut him off, “Lando, where are you.” Her tone was now serious, Maise mouthed ‘what’s wrong.’ She replied by holding up her finger as if to indicate ‘one minute.’ 

“I’m at my house.” He replied simply, he sounded tired and in shock.

“Do you want me to come over?” Georgie asked, her heart in her throat - it was only a moment ago he apologised for calling her. Maisie stood up, throwing her hands in the air, mouthing: “what are you doing?” There was another beat of silence, she could hear his breathing, he was trying to steady it. 

“Yes. Please. I’ll text you the address.” He swallowed thickly, just like Georgie, he wasn’t sure what made him call her or - even more - say yes to her coming over. It was like there was someone speaking for him, controlling all of his actions concerning her. He didn’t understand it. Lando had only learnt her name that afternoon but it felt like he had known her for months - their little coffee shop sighting felt like years ago. 

After he hung up, he ran his hands through his hair. His heart was still beating as though he was about to race. He had already called Charlotte and explained everything that had just gone down after the match, he had told her that he wasn’t alone and that he had good company. Technically he wasn’t lying because good company was about to arrive. Lando wasn’t sure how long he sat in that position for, the silence of his house felt deafening until the doorbell broke his thoughts. He opened it to an anxious looking Georgie, holding the unopened bottle that her and Maisie were about to start on. “I brought us a bottle.” Lando cracked a smile, opening the door wider so she could come through. 

“I’m not normally allowed but I think Jon will let me off.” He muttered, closing the door behind her. Before he could say another word, she had wrapped her arms around his neck - “You looked like you needed a hug.” He could just about make out. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer into him. In that moment of vulnerability he told her what had happened at Wembley and she responded by placing her hands on either side of his face: “You’re definitely in need of that drink then.” 

It was some time later and they were both sitting on the floor, leaning against the sofa in his living room, bottles of different sorts of wine sat empty on the glass table and Georgie was having to hold onto his shoulder to stop herself from falling over. Lando had just recounted a rather funny story - in hindsight it was probably only funny because of the amount of alcohol that they had consumed. Georgie had gotten drunk before, she was the type of drunk that never stopped talking but with Lando, all she wanted was to be close to him; as demonstrated by her holding onto his shoulder as soon as he said anything remotely funny, leaning across his body to reach for the wine. What she wasn’t aware of was the effect this was then having on Lando. He was completely in awe of Georgie, her ability to come in and sweep him off of his feet - he felt as though he could completely relax in her presence, as though nothing else mattered when she was there. He craved the warmth she was offering him, she wasn’t like all of the other girls Jon scolded him for meeting. Georgie was just as nervous and naive as he was - they both loved and craved the idea of comfort and affection from another human that wasn’t platonic but neither of them had any clue how. Perhaps it was more the fact that neither of them had met anyone yet that silently understood the troubles and tribulations that had led them to his point. 

They were at peace with their thoughts, the alcohol fogging any sort of rationality. Lando looked over at Georgie, a content and easy smile sat effortlessly on her lips and a tinge of pink flushed on her cheeks. He shuffled closer to her so their shoulders were pressed against each other, “I’m glad I called you.” It was almost like the words shocked him as they came out of his mouth, as though he was airing his thoughts for the first time. The smile on her face only grew, Georgie moved her face closer to his so she could see every freckle and dimple and blemish. It was the first time she realised how beautiful he was - from the way his curls fell lopsided onto his forehead to his constant licking of his lips in an attempt not to shy away. She brought her thumb to his face, brushing it delicately. 

“Eyelash.” She explained, his gaze transfixed on hers, he wrapped his hand around her wrist and blew the eyelash away. “Did you make a wish?” She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. 

“I did.” Lando answered, his hand still wrapped around her wrist, his touch burning Georgie’s skin. He inched his face closer to hers, his breath fanning across her face. She braved a look at his lips, tearing away from the battle they had once again found themselves in. “What did you wish for?” She asked, her lips brushing his. 

“If I told you - ” He began, releasing her wrist from his touch and instead tucking a loose strand of her back behind her ear. “It wouldn’t come true.” 

Their lips still hadn’t touched, millimeters separated them, their noses brushing as though they were the first to give in. It was like they were daring each other to make the first move, who was going to be the first one to break. Every nerve in Georgie’s body was telling her to close the distance - it felt right. It would certainly make up for that afternoon’s display. She knew that he had no obligations to kiss her and she knew that the hand now resting on her cheek was inviting her - almost taunting her. 

“Lando-” She pulled her head away, his hand falling limply to his side. Georgie squeezed her eyes shut, hating herself instantly. 

“I know.” He whispered, looking down at the floor. 

There were many reasons why Georgie pulled away. The main fear that both of them had mutually agreed on was that if she had closed the distance and if she had kissed him - all self control on either side was gone and there was no stopping the inevitability of all mature relationships. It was something that - whilst both were desperate for - now wasn’t the time and it would lead to a series of unfortunate events neither of them wanted. 

“It’s getting late.” Lando grumbled, getting up from the floor. He wasn’t mad at Georgie because he knew it was the right thing - he felt it himself but he was also aware of the large part of him that wanted to indulge, to forget about any consequences and enjoy the raw connection that they had found. 

“Yes, you’re right.” Georgie felt a pang of guilt in her chest, as he refused to meet her eye. She stood there frozen, unsure where to go or what to do. “I’ll go call an uber.” She muttered, excusing herself. 

“Wait-” Lando called out to her, “Stay.” 

Georgie looked at him, confusion etched on her face. Lando took a step towards her, his jaw tightened. He knew come morning he was probably going to regret what he was about to do, it was like he was teasing himself - setting himself up for another heartbreak. But this time it had to be different. It had to be. 

“Please, I don’t think I want to be alone.” It was raw emotion talking and a new side to Lando that Georgie didn’t think she would ever see. She knew come morning she was going to regret what she was about to say, it was like she was leading herself down a hole that in the end she wasn’t going to be able to get out of. 

“Ok.” She gave a half smile and reached for Lando’s hand. 

That night they stayed in each other's arms. Relishing in the comfort they gave to one another, both wishing that tomorrow would never come.

Imelda Staunton is getting really serious about her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown season 5! 😆😅👑

In the show [Trying] Imelda Staunton - who has been cast as the Queen in the next series of The Crown - plays the couple's social worker.

[Esther] Smith says it's wonderful having her on set, adding: "She's just like this gorgeous sprite!

"She's so fun, and you can't help but learn off her as well because she's a legend, she's brilliant at what she does."

"I feel so privileged that I get to work with her, but she's also just this normal fun person."

But [Rafe] Spall can't resist poking fun at Staunton's upcoming royal role.

He joked: "She now insists that Esther curtsies when she comes in, and, you know, I have to bow and refer to her as your majesty."

"She's got very, very grand since her coronation, put it that way."

Which of your fics do you want more attention for?

Ok I’m going to go in a different direction and say which fics I don’t want more attention for, which would be any of my weirder Richard fics or the Netflix/Old Guard Fandom BDSM fic. Because I’ve had a couple of people go from reading Ink & Ivy straight to those and getting whiplash (and potentially trauma) so... I am beyond overjoyed you want to read more of my work but it’s 100% safer if you sort by kudos and avoid anything that includes the Netlfix Geeked Week sex dungeon.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Absolutely! I mean I always feel inadequate because I can never reply to comments as well as I can write fic, but that’s life I guess.

What sorts of things do you normally write?

Fluff, smut, crack, and the occasional longer AU.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Last time I got asked this I forgot I did actually have an angsty-ish fic, because normally I avoid angst like the plague. But Lowlands Away ends with Andy thinking about losing Quynh which is as angsty as I’ll ever likely get!

What's a fic that pushed you out of your comfort zone?

Take a Breath and Softly Say Goodbye, purely because it was by far the longest fic I’ve written. Also the Richard/Valerio sounding fic because... it’s a Richard/Valerio sounding fic.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you've written?

I do! They range from the relatively serious TOG but make it ancient Greek/Roman ones I’ve done to the weird-ass TOG Shadowhunters crossover I wrote for Julia’s birthday. It was written entirely with her in mind and as such is probably the nichest and weirdest thing I’ve written.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope, and likely never will. I feel like it’d be similar to playing doubles tennis, where I’d just worry about letting the other person down the whole time.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

My Knight’s Tale AU for the Old Guard. It’s barely 1k atm, and there’s just so much to write and work out that I don’t think I’ll go back to it any time soon.

What are you currently working on?

So much, I need WIP restraint, really. Besides my Bridgerton and Downton Abbey fics I have a sequel to The Blood and Sand Beneath Our Feet that’s racking up words quickly, a Nile-centric fic, and ofc the iceman!Nicky AU that’s going... slow. And then, because I love pain, I’m slowly picking up my original novel again and trying to get back into that.

What are your writing strengths?

I’ve been told it’s the authors notes I leave at the end of fics, but also Sarah reliably informs me it’s blowjobs.

What are your writing weaknesses?

That part when I’ve written all the interesting dialogue and action and have to work out how to fill in the rest. Agony.

What was the first fandom you wrote for? Most recent?

Midsomer Murders Officially, on AO3, it’s the Last Kingdom, with The Old Guard being my most current fandom.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

This changes every day tbh. Right now it’s More than Mercia, my Aethelflaed/Aldhelm fic, and my first “serious” fic.

What fic are you most proud of?

Again, this changes constantly, and atm it’s To Die a Hundred Times. I just think it’s neat.
