Dorian confessing his intention to return to Tevinter for good is so heartbreaking in the Tresspasser DLC. Because of course he does! It doesn't come out of nowhere, he tells the inquisitor as much before they even defeat Corypheus - he loves his home country and knows that he personally needs to be the one to fix it. Not any foreign power (including you and the Inquisition) but through internal change. And he's so blasé about it when he tells you, keeping his tone light, excited for his future work with Maevaris and the Lucerni! Of course, he didn't want you to find out like that but this is a good thing. He's happy! He's practically jovial!
And then you think about how familiar that tone of voice is. And remember his romance scene, and the nonchalant way he asks you if this whole relationship is just a one-time thing. And how he jokes and jibes with you in the bad-end future during In Hushed Whispers, to the point where Leliana calls him out on the obvious attempt at levity. Barring your brushes with his family, who elicit a kind of knee-jerk anger that cracks his usual mask, Dorian is very good at maintaining that emotional wall. So you listen as your heart breaks, as you consider how to respond to the lightness of him in this devastating moment, and you realise-
Dorian is terrified. The kind of scared where you can't really voice it, not in public, not even in private spaces when you aren't 100% in control. It's scary losing a parent, even one you're not quite reconciled with. To have to take his place and fill a role you've never fit, and somehow finally actually push forward with all the ideals you've been imagining to be so far away for many years. And to do all that on the opposite side of the world from the people who all made you finally believe it could be possible in the first place?
Dorian is so very used to being the brave one, the optimistically realistic one, that he can't possibly burden you - whose heart is breaking, whose Inquisition is failing, whose body is slowly killing them - with all of his own ugly fear. That wouldn't be very charming and dependable and Dorian of him, would it? More to the point, leaning on you would be both more burdensome to you and chafe against his own stubborn pride - not accepting favours is well-established during his romance-specific quest to retrieve his birthright. So instead of taking you aside somewhere quiet, consulting you about his final decision on the matter, and giving both of you the space to grieve, he...
Well he tells Varric. And Sera, and Bull, and Cole. Part of it is practice - how might they react? Part of it is in hope for advice on how to break the news. Varric and Bull are adept speakers. Cole's whole job is compassion. Even Sera's bluntness might help when you're chronically incapable of not sugarcoating things. But all it really does it make things worse, because its a distancing tactic. Nothing can truly prepare him for the crack in your voice, the sharp sting of your flinch and the perceived betrayal.
It's almost ironic, that his romantic lock-in asks you to decide if you're in for the long haul, when Dorian's entire arc is one that will inevitably draw him back to Tevinter. And specifically in such a way as to leave you. Because he does not want you tagging along (at least not now, not as the Inquisitor.) Dorian's fear in this moment is not fully centered on you, the man he loves, but there is certainly a part of him that is back in the Inquisitor's chambers on the opposite side of that question of 'do you want me to stay.'
Dorian Pavus' greatest fear is temptation, emblazoned on his tombstone in the Fade for all to see. And there you are, with your political power, ready to jump in and save the day once again on his behalf. And he's tempted. There you are with your familiarity and a space for him in the South that accepts him for who he is. And he's tempted.
There you are. Loving him. And well...
So he doesn't lower his voice to whisper to you, or hold you too close. He confesses in public where the crowds prohibit hysterics, he sips on precious wine, and he gifts you his sending stone. It is both distance and closeness all tied with a bow. A temptation that he can just about handle. Fear under wraps. Because if he lets you, you will - without even knowing - stop his entire life in its tracks. You represent everything he can never afford to lose to. And it is wretched how desperately he doesn't want to lose you.

Just had a very busy afternoon of serious arts and crafts, finally using up some coloured lolly sticks and very old pom poms and gems I've been hoarding.
Made some fences, and then made some very normal animals to keep inside a fence! Pleased with the cute thylacine and dragon but the Rattata came out a little scary lol!

I really enjoyed the wanderer baring his soul to Durin in this event, they are like traumatized dogs who just learned to trust someone 💜💙
But I didn’t like mini-Durin’s design or voice so y’all get this

He sits as still as a marble statue, a moment in time – of power, of the singing of metal against metal that fills his ears, of the smell of blood so heavy he can still vividly remember it, even now – he had long since left behind, carved into stone.
You, on the contrary, are not so still. Your hands caress his body like you are a painter creating stroke after stroke with your brush – up the curve of his horns, mindful of the sharp point, down to the scales of his cheeks and the sharp, jagged edges of his teeth that barely fit in a jaw not made for them.
And he let's you – oh how he lets you. He does not think there is anything in the world he could deny you.
He dares not breathe, fearing it will shatter this moment in such a way that he will never get it back. He is not meant to be a living being, in this moment – he is no Archon, nor even the mortal Zhongli. He is the canvas of which you paint your masterpiece with wandering hands that leave goosebumps on his skin.
And what a feeling it is. Euphoria, he thinks, is an apt description – yet at the same time nothing can truly put a word to the feeling of the Creators gaze falling upon him and him alone, to know your touch and to hear your voice.
His body cramps and aches at holding the position for so long, but it is so easy to ignore, so easily drowned out by the waves of adoration that swells in his chest. It is so very easy to ignore the way his body protests when your hands cup his face, and he feels like he must be the luckiest man in the world.
It is so very easy to forget everything when you are so close he can feel your breath against his lips – so easy to forget that he should stay still when he coils his tail around your waist, his arms encircling your back – mindful of his claws.
There is no word to describe the feeling of your lips, the warmth and softness with which you look at him in the moments before your eyes close, the feeling of your body and his entwined like you were never meant to be apart. He does not even try to put it into words – his actions will do it instead.
And perhaps you will not recognize the possessiveness with which he holds you, but that's alright.
He has all the time in the world.
And so will you.

Shea Fontana shared a little about the show staff's design decisions regarding characters that aren't made with dolls in mind, which I found rather interesting:
"When we introduce new characters that are not driven by franchise or pre-existing Monster High characters, our incredible designers (...) have a chance to push the monster-ness and lean into spooky fun designs. While fashion dolls need to follow some basic perimeters (often including more humanoid silhouettes and characteristics), these new animated characters can be some very monstrous monsters! From ooey-gooey bodies to dramatic wings to pumpkin heads, we look to heighten the freaky fab in these characters. We take cues from the mythologies of these monster types and work with cultural consultants to ensure that these new characters put even more of the "monster" into Monster High." (Typed out for ease of reading)
I figured something like this was the reason a lot of show exclusive characters seemed to stray farther from past mh design philosophies, but the confirmation is appreciated. So here's the reason some characters are much more monstrous than others, and we can expect to never see them on toy shelves.
Frankly, while I enjoy these designs that take more creative liberties, I do sometimes find they stand out quite a bit from the rest of the cast, in a way that makes you wonder what the in-universe reasoning is, and can be odd at times. I do ultimately enjoy seeing more creature aspects though, especially in the case of Mister Mothmanson and Miss Ziz.

Also, in the upper middle is someone we'll apparently meet tonight. Pumpkin Patch! Her design is adorable I love her already.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves feels like the first blockbuster in ages that's really going all-out with the toyline and print tie-ins. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since the game is published by a Hasbro subsidiary, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm delusional so I'm talking about Furina losing her godhood again and why I think it's a bad call.
The only other archon to "step down" in any case is Zhongli. You could also say that Venti stepped down, but he couldn't really step down because it didn't seem like he was in charge at all.
Zhongli seemed to be in charge, an ever present god managing the nation from many different angles. He was everything a God should get, capital G. He was a great ruler, a strong protector, and a noble God.
Zhongli stepped down because he was done with that, ready to retire. He served his time, learned and experienced more than mortals could dream of and even more than his fellow Gods.
Furina has so much to learn. Something is happening to her, her curse, and she's a younger god grappling with this pedestal she's found herself on and has this prophecy on her plate that she doesn't know what she's supposed to do with.
If we look at Nahida and Ei as well, both of them are getting second chances after their shortcomings. Nahida deserves it the most, since she was shunned by her people and ignored for her whole life. Ei, meanwhile, does not deserve it. Sorry to Ei apologists (I am with you) but the Vision Hunt Decree is still her fault in my head. Her inability to step up because of her grief led to the Vision Hunt Decree, and even Scaramouche and the tragedy of his life.
Both Nahida and Ei get second chances, and Zhongli stepped down because he's already learned everything he needed to know. Then there's Venti who isn't present as a god or ruler because of his principles and his trust in his people.
Furina has so much to learn and has not gotten a second chance yet. Her stepping down would feel like such a waste and double standard. A God can steal the ambition of her people and cause so much death and despair and be redeemed but a naive, inexperienced God doesn't even get the chance to change or prove herself?
