This application is a great tool for teachers and librarians. It can help solve the problem of when students cannot be photographed or video recorded. Instead, students can share their words through funny pictures. It also allows the shy students to have a voice if they don’t want to be on camera.

2019 Top Fun Interactive Math Games for Kindergarten

Math skills that are taught during early learning years are designed to provide the necessary foundation for children to succeed in elementary and in the future. Teachers must pay attention and focus on the basic skills that make up advanced math at more advanced levels such as high school and college. It is during the preschool to elementary years where children are laying the foundation for enhanced life skills.

Basic math for kindergarten

Early childhood education involves teaching new math concepts. The basic math terms are introduced to the children. With this, teachers are actually making it easier for the kids to adjust when they learn about the different math concepts earlier. Preschoolers and kindergarteners may not yet be ready to practice the math skills. However, they can get a good grasp of the basic ideas with constant practice.

Basic numbers

One of the very first important math skill that a child must know is to have a number sense or the basic concept about numbers. Children must learn how to count forward and backward during early childhood so that they can connect the relationship between the numbers in the future. This is an important skill that must be taught before kids reach kindergarten.

Kindergarten classes review the basics of counting forward and back but early childhood teachers must have a strong foundation on learning to count before advancing to the elementary stage. This is necessary for future advanced calculations.

Visual learning

Children are visual and can connect the relationship between numbers and an item if there are pictures and representations. This makes the relationship real for a child. Early childhood math must focus on representing numbers with items. For example, you can use pictures of a favorite thing to help children recognize the number.

Using representations to teach kids allows them to make connections between math and the real world. This is necessary for academic achievement. Inability to make the connection may leave the child confused.

Building a strong foundation

The basic math concepts must be introduced such as the basics of adding and subtracting. A simple example is the use of normal things such as giving some cookies or taking away some. By learning simple skills such as math concepts, addition, subtraction, and number sense, children are slowly progressing in preparation for higher learning in the future.

Educational math apps

Today, technology has changed a lot. Apps are now available for kids so that they can play and learn at the same time. There are plenty of wonderful apps that can catch the attention of children and leave them engrossed on math apps for an extended period of time. Below are a few interactive math games for kindergarten that will surely be fun.

Kindergarten Math

This allows children to develop their basic math skills as they are continuously entertained. Kids can add, count and weave their way with the use of fun games. Kindergarten Math contains more than 20 interactive math games that teach the basics such as counting, addition, subtraction, and sorting. Kids will learn as they are playing. This app is easy to use and very simple for the kids.

Mathlingo

This is an interesting and fun early learning app made for preschoolers and kindergarteners so that they can start to develop basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, and geometry. Children can learn from up to 5 and then later on up to 10. Geometry and shape skills are also included in this app. This app has an ocean theme where the cute ocean animals help teach math to kids and show them how fun math can be. No matter where you are, you can access Mathlingo and improve a kid’s math skills.

Mathlingo features counting where you can count sea animals and determine which group has more animals. In addition and subtraction, there are pictures that are used for exercises. For geometry, you can learn the basic shapes and match them with the missing ones.

Animal Math Games

This app has more than 100 fun math games as you join Emma on her quest to find a way home. This app has cute characters and kids of all ages can use this as well. This has professional narration and interesting music. Characters that can be seen on the app are cows, chicken, puppies, kittens, giraffes.

Monkey Math School Sunshine

Join your favorite monkey in the math games with the beach as a theme. This app allows your child to enhance his math skills and be entertained at the same time. There are 9 interactive games that teach kids addition, subtraction, patterning, and sequencing. By pressing one button only, kids can start the game and remain uninterrupted. Kids can collect the prizes to keep and be encouraged for more.

Moose Math

DuckDuckMoose has been armed with 9 activities on common core standards. Addition and subtraction are easier. However, there are other activities that are also fun.

Owl and Pals Preschool

This app can teach children basic concepts. This is a good app for independent kids and is of good quality.

Park Math

This is another app that is composed of 3 levels. This app focuses on addition, subtraction, patterns, and counting. This app has won a lot of awards.

EduGuru Maths Kids 3-5

This app is based in the UK and follows the UK curriculum. However, this is also applicable in other education settings. This app focuses on addition, subtraction, number ordering and recognition, and time.

These are just some of the interactive games for the kids. What’s important to remember is that this is the stage where kids are building their foundation that is why it is important to have a strong app. See to it that you are only giving age-appropriate apps to your kid so that they will not become frustrated when they are playing an app that is not for their age. Most apps are adaptive and can adjust according to the user’s level. There are also options where parents and teachers can track the app and check the user’s progress.

they just sang this on Glee. I know fleetwood mac did it originally, but I grew up with the Dixie Chicks version. and whenever I hear them I think of my childhood, basically. my mom listened to them all the time, so I did too. and I remember singing Traveling Soldier all the freaking time. I was obsessed. and watching that concert dvd at Darcy's house and singing Goodbye Earl. ahhhh memories!
