Derek Hale x Lydia Martin

His senses were always trained on her. There wasn't a moment when Derek wasn't looking out for his partner. He payed perfect attention to her, ready to be by her side in a moment.

Derek is the big spoon and Lydia is the little spoon, though she usually sprawls in her sleep

Lydia likes to take baths but is worried about getting some sort of vision or something in the water and so Derek will sit with her to make sure if something happens he's there

Derek likes to full shift and curl up with his head on her lap while Lydia reads about her math theorems

Lydia loves to watch procedurals and loves to solve the mysteries before them while Derek is much more of a documentary kind of guy

Best Teen Wolf Ship: The Ranking Part 5

Hey all! To round out the best teen wolf ship tournament, I'm going to give the rankings of how every ship placed of the 128 ships included in this competition. How I'm ranking them is going by the rounds. So the ships that didn't make it past the first round are the lowest, then second, third round etc - within each round, they're ranked by how many or few votes they got.

So if a ship made it past the first round, I'll put their total votes just to see how many they got throughout the whole competition, and just for those who might be curious - but total votes don't have any bearing on their placements. So a ship might have gotten a lot one round and very few the next round, but have more total votes than the ship ranked above them because that ship got more votes the second round.

I know this ranking isn't full proof, but I'm just doing this for fun, so again let's not take it too seriously. This way just made the most sense for how each ship should be ranked. Also I will highlight a ship's vote count red to indicate that it was eliminated that round.

proooobably An Empty Glass Is An Ugly Mirror?? Dydia fic where Lydia tries to convince Derek to leave his abusive wife, but ultimately he chooses to go back to her and it's an open but unhappy ending. or These Gordian Knots We Tie, also an unhappy ending with Derek choosing isolation and avoidance instead of new connections that promise to be good for him. (i love both of these fics and recommend them 😂)

the vast majority of my fics are fluff, i wouldn't have the slightest clue how to rank them lmaooooo

i really don't, and i don't think i ever have

occasionally! far more recently than in past years 😂 though i haven't gotten much of it actually finished and posted, and it's the kind of smut that most people wouldn't like or approve of 🫣

i've only written one true crossover (the aforementioned foray into Spn, lol) but i don't not write them as a rule. i'm just picky about crossovers cuz i need to feel like the canons are really compatible in order to mesh them together well.

11. Ever had a fic stolen?

somebody reposted one of my Merlin fics to wattpad, yeah. i had to make an account to message them and get it taken down. it was really funny though cuz they had changed some of the names, but only some of them? with no apparent rhyme or reason as to which ones?? like, changed some canon names but not all of them and none of my OC names, it was very strange 😂😂😂 they took it down immediately without responding to my message lol

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

15 of them!! almost all of them into, i think, russian and mostly by the same industrious translator 💖

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

i have not and i don't intend to cuz i talk a lot, have very strong opinions, and get territorial about my ideas alkfdjgh. i would be a BAD person to co-write with 😅 guaranteed to steamroll my co-writer and make them feel bad, it's a bad idea, i'm not gonna subject anybody to that lmaooo

15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

For Shell And Safety (Teen Wolf, gen & Sterek) is an outsider POV apocalypse canon divergence that i would desperately love to finish but it's been languishing since 2017 so what are the odds, truly? 😭 Thinking About Blue Skies (Teen Wolf, Laurallison) was one of my eeeaaarliest LHAW fics and has also been untouched since 2017 wahhh, i never even actually had an ending in mind for this one which significantly lowers the chance of me getting back to it REM-DAC (Teen Wolf, Sterek) the problem with THIS one is that i do have an ending in mind, and it only needs like one (1) more scene, but it's contingent on there being a SEQUEL and setting up for that, and that sequel!!!! is almost certainly never going to get written, but i can't stand to slap a """wrong""" ending on this one when my heart insists it should be a cliffhanger LMAO In The Absence Of Scars (Dark Rise) i just......i took too long to finish it, and the second book came out, and headcanons/theories started getting jossed, and i lost all motivation 🥲 idk if i'm ever gonna feel the urge to go back to it when i know it's no longer accurate, ya know?? not that fic needs to be accurate, but like, as a character study, you know what i mean? if it's not the canon character anymore cuz more canon came out and changed things? idk and i've got a PLETHORA of un-posted WIPs for all the fandoms that i'm not longer writing for. i'm a One Fandom At A Time kinda bitch, once i've moved on to something else, i find it very difficult to write or even read fics for the previous fandoms cuz the ooooonly thing in my brain is the new one. realistically, the only WIPs that have a chance of getting finished now are the TRC ones 😅

16. Writing strengths?

the prof of my short story technique workshop in college said i had the best dialogue in the class and i'm never letting that go 😂😂😂 i've also been told that i'm very good at building up and conveying emotion and making unreasonable choices/behaviors feel/seem reasonable from the character's perspective

17. Writing weaknesses?

i'm often not confident in my pacing, i worry sometimes that i get repetitive with the ways that i phrase things, and i have a tendency towards overstatement/redundancy that i actively keep an eye out for while i write

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

i'm more likely to acknowledge that someone is speaking a language the POV character does not understand, in which case i do not have to actually write it myself 😅 and if they do understand it, i can just say in english what they heard/understood. i don't feel the need to badly attempt translations if i don't need to, and there's rarely a reason i would need to

19. First fandom you wrote for? Wrote for?

definitely Harry Potter and unfortunately most of them are still up on FFN lmao, though not the actual first ones

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

another truly evil question that idk if i have an answer for. i like pretty much all of the fics i've written or i wouldn't have posted them, and i love a lot of them for very different reasons. i usually tout To Be A King as my magnum opus, because it's the longest fic i've written and is solidly A Book 😂 so i'll go with that, i guess, though there are many many others that i would also absolutely look at and go "OOH, MY FAVORITE!!!" for a variety of reasons lmaooo
