to go a bit more into detail on this - from what I understand, this was on display* in a house for a number of years. This particular piece comes from the home of the harbormaster (a lovely man), and was exposed to light and about 50+ years of cigarette smoke. The boat in the photo is an early ferry in my area, and the cardboard it is mounted on seems to be some sort of church(??) yard sign(???)

we are still deciding the best course of action for this piece, but in all honestly, as a smallish museum/historical society with a laundry list of pieces with urgent conservation needs, we don't have the manpower to do anything other than keep it in a dark and temperature controlled space.

There are a lot of things that make me sad when I see pieces like this, because its so easy to see how important it was to its former owner, and it hurts me that we can't pour all of our time and resources into every piece that needs help. There are pieces even in this intake (which I cannot show because they contain identifying information about my location) that will be prioritized as they demand more immediate conservation efforts. Time can be a cruel opponent - and all we can do is our best.

anywho!!! all this is to say Support your local historical society!!! they are trying their darndest to preserve your local history and can't do so without community support! (and support does not always mean money!!! genuinely just interacting with your local historical societies can mean so much)

No but thats so real i NEED those purple eyes or else i know everything they could ever say about him will be wrong. Cause being a purple eyed freak is his thing. My hierarchy probably goes purple eyes > dark hair (titans show my detested) > curly hair (> freckles etc etc whatever else).

Keep an eye on your children and grandparents and pets! They’re all especially prone to smoke inhalation!

If you get any nosebleeds you can put a tiny bit of petroleum jelly in your nose to keep things from drying out, and lip balm is a good idea too. Sunglasses won’t save your eyes completely but they do help if you have to go outside!

Any yard work or exercise can WAIT. Going for a run WILL hurt you. If your house is too smoky, turn on your air conditioning (if you have it) and go to a shopping centre for the day. I think they opened the cooling centres in Ottawa which is apparently getting hit super hard so you can also head there to get a break!

Decadent Cupcake Batter Cheesecake

Ingredients:

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup sour cream

1/4 cup cupcake mix

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.

Add sugar, sour cream, cupcake mix, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.

Fold in the rainbow sprinkles.

Pour the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly jiggly.

Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes | Total Time: 35-40 minutes

ngl i am kind of getting tired of literally everyone being excessively mean to yuan mo... 😭 like all he does is help and for that help he just wants to be compensated for. yeah he has his tricks and all that but he's still a decent and kind person?? he helps and solves cases and yet! people still get upset with him like what do you want!! a shu was so wrong for what she did to him... yes she felt guilty and said sorry but she really did deserve that speech he gave. i'm glad he finally said something for reaal ☹️

i feel like east blue polycule fic might be intimating to people who think writing 5 characters is a lot because thats how it was for me but i can personally assure you that at least in my case it is WAY easier to write them as a polycule than splitting them off.

dymanics flow much more naturally, and when i talk on this blog about east blue polycule content it comes down to not only does east blue polycule stuff accurately recreate canon but because of that, because these characters are meant to be digested as a group and almost all the character writing done for them is group writing, so its actively easier to write them as a group as opposed to having to account for the absence of other characters because youre not straying from the group character writing that takes up so much of one piece.
