I like the idea that Mikey was in a coma after the Rise movie due to mystic drain shenanigans. I know the Leo coma arc is basically destiny for most iterations of the turtles at this point, and it definitely has its angst with the older brother/leader being out of commission and the younger brothers floundering as they don't know what to do, but I also like the angst that comes with the baby of the family being in a coma with no certainty of if/when he will wake up. It's double angst too as Leo is probably blaming himself given his sacrifice is the reason Mikey nearly ripped himself apart atom by atom in order to save him. He sacrificed himself in order to make up for his mistake that nearly caused the apocalypse, but instead he just nearly killed his baby brother, and they're not even sure if he'll ever wake up.

Look, I don’t like the “David killed Shaw” plot point in Covenant for a variety of reasons. But one reason is that it feels so … boring? Like, yeah, of course the villainous robot killed her.

Imo, if we’re still going with the general framework of Covenant, it’d have been more interesting to have them be the sci-fi equivalent of Hannibal and Clarice and be a team. Like, in the novel Hannibal, Clarice is continuously screwed over by the institution she put her faith in. Forsaking it and running off to be with a cannibal who loves and respects her is, oddly, a happy ending for her.

Similarly, imagine how interesting it would’ve been if Shaw had lost her faith in the Engineers and was like, “You know what? You’re right, David. Let’s kill them — before they kill humans.” And then ran off with him to do Weird Unethical Science.

Am I biased because I ship them despite the very toxic and fucked up canon ending they were handed? Oh yeah. But I still think this would’ve been an interesting idea

I find the main theme of Prometheus honestly so scary. That theme being, “God really does exist, he made you, and he hates you.”

Like, these people find out the answer of where humans came from, and the answer is bleak. It seems that, essentially, humans were just an experiment and that the Engineers were dissatisfied with that experiment and are happy to wipe out their “mistake.”

But the thing is — it’s not as if there’s no precedence in human religion for a god like that. The Engineers are very much like the God of the Old Testament — petty, angry, and mercurial. Indeed, a verse from one of the most famous Old Testament stories, that of Noah’s Ark, basically encapsulates the Engineers’ attitudes towards humanity:

Genesis 6:7: “So the Lord said: I will wipe out from the earth the human beings I have created, and not only the human beings, but also the animals and the crawling things and the birds of the air, for I regret that I made them.”

That’s chilling.

And, to me, that’s the true horror at the heart of Prometheus

Solar Eclipse AU

So for once, the villains seem to be taking a break. Maybe the 2012 turtles just stopped the invasion or maybe shredder is gone. Take your pick.

But for some reason, Mikey is tired.

At first it's nothing big. Maybe he's just not getting as much sleep as he thought, so he's a little more calm during the day. He's not jumping all over the pace, and he's making less jokes than usual. The brothers might even think Mikey is finally maturing a bit.

But then he starts staying in bed longer and longer. He skips training. And he's not eating. He's not really talking or joking around anymore. He may even be depressed, though Mikey is honestly too tired to really figure out any other emotions he might be feeling besides numbness.

The brothers get really worried with them trying to figure out what's going on, and then a portal opens and out pops another version of them (2003). It turns out their Mikey is also experiencing the same thing, and their Donnie has figured out (thanks to their universe having mystic/chi) that Mikey's life force is being drained through the multiverse.

They jump various universes as they look for the source, picking up various groups of turtles along the way who all have a Mikey who is experiencing the same thing until-

They get to the ROTTMNT universe, where they find their alternates in the aftermath of the movie. They're tired, they're injured

and their Mikey is in a coma.

Through means I haven't quite thought about yet, they realize that Rise!Mikey is absolutely drained due to using an almost fatal amount of energy to rip a hole into the prison dimension. This left the veil between universes thin, allowing Rise!Mikey to unintentionally siphon off energy from various Mikeys as he heals.

They're not sure how to stop it, but if they don't, all the Mikeys are doomed to experience the same fate.
