Being in New York is a little funny because it totally doesn't feel like a place I belong anymore—just a place I know the map of really well. Am I wrong to disavow memory? I think reminiscing has hurt me too much to entirely say no. I've had better times, but it's dampened my motivation and shrinks my current self into something smaller than the shadow of my past self(bad😵) instead of, well, making me happy for having lived a lot of life when I was handed it (that which I am proud of when I remember the fact!)

I seriously need to evict this mass out of my brain with a new journey but I'm a bit frailer than I expected myself to be and I'm dealing with mountained molehills and moderate to severe anxiety and honestly I think there are just bullets to bite and messes to be made. Which terrifies me because I hate that other people are watching and know they spectate through a lens of sincerity and a desire to be along with me on this ride. So like, the audience makes me want to cry but also the audience is why I do it in the first place. Emotionally intelligent point, no? 😵

taking notes on the hermitcraft charity livestream for my friend @pookapufferfish and also just anyone else who had to miss it 👍

these are going to be all over the place lol

i started my note-keeping like an hour or so into the stream so i dont have a lot of stuff from the beginning...

but: grian and scar opened the stream, showed off some of the items up for auction (like real wild life snails. i want one so bad but they're MASSIVELY out of my price range...)

POST-POSTING EDIT: I FORGOT THERE WAS AN IMP AND SKIZZ PODCAST. it wasnt really a traditional podcast though, martyn was asking them questions, a group of hermits would vote on who they thought had the best answer, and whoever lost got shocked by grian.

my most notable takeaway from the shock-cast is that if impulse could have any superpowers he'd want control over time, and skizz would want the ability to heal people. mmm yes food for the superhero aus

and then ren busted out this custom hermitcraft guitar that's also up for auction and played a song by green day

and then we got treebark content.martyn and ren ran the main stream for like 20 minutes

also we hit ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS really freaking fast. and they spun the wheel of chaos and it landed on ✨hermit boxing✨

zed and tango hosting the QUIET GAMESSSSSSS. 3 teams of two, imp and gem, ren and skizz, GRIAN AND JIMMYYYY. basically just a bunch of weird minigames where you have to be as quiet as possible. scored on how quiet you are and how well you do

first minigame is moving marbles with spoons but the spoons are attached to a cowbell

gem and impulse did good. skizz and ren did better then i expected. jimmy and grain instantly dissolved into anarchy. jimmy and grian had the most marbles, skizz and ren were surprisingly the quietest

okay the next game is so weird. knocking around ping pong balls with party popper blow kazoo things. but you hold the kazoo for your partner so it's weirdly intimate

someone in the chat described it as nightmare blunt rotation and that the most accurate description yet

someone else in chat has named skizz and ren team rizz and i hate everything

also i realize now that if theyd have done this with commonly shipped pairs the fandom would never shut up

despite the absolute chaos that was happening grian and jimmy won that round on both number of balls and quietness. grian may have slapped jimmy at one point. (he totally did)

the last one is EVEN MORE COMPLICATED. one person blindfolded navigating a minefield of bubblewrap and rubber chickens. another with jingle bells on their ankles and a big stick to smack their partner around.

It was Dino’s birthday, and Y/N was running around the apartment with the energy of a tornado in glitter boots.

“Where’s the wrapping paper?!” she called out, combing through drawers and top shelves like a woman on a mission.

Chan better known as Dino popped his head out from the kitchen. “You don’t have to go this crazy, noona. I said I’d be happy with a keychain!”

Y/N whipped around, glaring. “Excuse you? After everything I made you do on that dance challenge last month? You deserve an iPad and a free trip to the moon.”

Chan laughed, but truthfully, his heart felt full. She was always this sweet protective, doting, dramatic in all the right ways. He’d never had an older sister, but Y/N was the closest thing to one.

And Minghao? Well... he was the boyfriend.

Minghao sat quietly in the corner of the dorm’s common room, arms folded, watching as Y/N carefully slid the brand-new iPad into a perfectly wrapped gift bag.

His eyes narrowed. That bag looked suspiciously expensive.

“Where did you even buy that?” he asked suddenly, voice sharp.

Y/N turned, grinning. “You noticed? Isn’t it cute? I customized the case too see? It says ‘Lee Chan the GOAT.’”

Chan doubled over in laughter.

Minghao didn’t.

“You bought him an iPad?”

Y/N blinked. “Yeah! He’s been talking about digital art and editing dance videos. You know I spoil my friends on birthdays.”

“You don’t even let me pick which cereal we buy when we live together,” he muttered.

She raised an eyebrow. “What was that?”

“Nothing.”

For the rest of the evening, Minghao barely spoke.

Y/N didn’t notice at first she was too busy laughing with Chan, watching him open his gift, helping him install Procreate, and throwing confetti in the air like a walking party popper.

But eventually, she noticed the silence. The way Minghao’s eyes never met hers. The way he kept checking his phone like he was somewhere else entirely.

Later, when the party ended and everyone trickled out of the dorm, she found him sitting in the dark, alone in the practice room.

“Minghao?” she called gently.

He didn’t answer.

She approached slowly, heart twisting. “Baby… what’s wrong?”

“You really don’t know?” he asked, voice low.

Her heart sank. “Wait… is this about Chan?”

He looked away, jaw tight. “You spent the whole week planning for him. You were texting him all night. You bought him an iPad. You haven’t even looked at me properly since you came in.”

Y/N blinked. “Hao, he’s like my little brother.”

“But I’m your boyfriend.”

“I know that.”

“Do you?” His voice cracked. “Because sometimes I wonder if you see me that way. Or if I’m just the guy who comes second to Dino.”

That shattered her. She dropped her bag and walked straight to him, cupping his face gently.

“Minghao,” she whispered. “You come first. Always.”

He swallowed hard, trying to look away, but she wouldn’t let him.

“I love you. Not Chan. I love the way you dance, the way you talk to plants, the way you get quiet when you’re overwhelmed and need a hug but won’t ask for one.”

He blinked, eyes misting.

“I love that you never try to be someone else for me. That you challenge me. That you see through everything even when it hurts.”

She smiled softly. “But you don’t need to be jealous. I spoil Dino because he’s like a kid brother. He even calls me noona half the time.”

“…He does?”

“Yeah,” she laughed. “He even cried once because I got him new shoes. Literal baby.”

Minghao’s lips twitched, finally relaxing.

“I just… I didn’t want to be annoying,” he murmured. “But when you give so much to everyone, sometimes I wonder what’s left for me.”

She leaned in, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

“Everything,” she whispered. “Everything that matters is only for you.”

That night, back at their apartment, Minghao transformed.

He clung to her like a koala, arms wrapped tight around her waist, chin resting on her shoulder. Every time she moved, he followed like a magnet.

He even pulled her into his lap while she was watching YouTube videos.

“Baby,” she giggled. “You’ve been holding me for two hours.”

“I’m never letting go,” he mumbled against her neck. “You’re mine.”

“Of course I’m yours.”

“…Say it again.”

“I’m yours, Xu Minghao.”

He sighed contentedly. “That’s better.”

She turned to kiss him softly on the cheek. “Next time, just tell me when you’re upset, okay?”

He nodded slowly. “Only if you promise not to buy Dino a Tesla next year.”

“No promises.”

“Hmph.”

But he was smiling. And holding her like the most precious thing in the world because to him, she was.
