Get that man (pregnant)!
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#jin zixuan#jiang yanli#digital art#animation#This was an animation test for a much...much longer project.#I do not know what the hell I am doing . I feel like a toddler being the wheel of a semi-truck.#But I've learned that the most important thing about art is to just dive in and start. I've learned a lot from my failures!#There is probably a more efficient way to do all of this. I'm using CPS and as of 20 min ago I just found out that animation folders-#-and regular folders are *different*. So I'm hopeful the rest of this animation goes well!#Shout out to Jiang Yanli for getting that man pregnant. MXTX told me herself that he carried Jin Ling to term with no complications.#How? How you ask? Well. I imagine it was a sea-horse situation. He has a pouch where he keeps his young.#He went from calling her names and trying to break off the wedding to having pregnancy cravings. Character growth.

there is no timeline in which jay knew how to do laundry before he joined the team. only child. mama’s boy. the only time he interacted with a washing machine was probs to disassemble it . Yeah he could diagram the internal wiring from memory but don’t ask him what a gentle cycle is. i bet he used to sneak his clothes into other people loads coz he was too embarrassed to ask how to do it. Like wanders into the laundry room with a suspiciously full basket like “omg you’re doing laundry too? twinsies 😇 Hmm . …mind if i just—” and then proceeds to dump the whole thing in your load. absolutely no concept of sorting colors or fabric types
#think schmidt in that one new girl ep#ninjago#and actually to this day he’s never learned exactly how to sort his clothes because his entire wardrobe is blue . So no need. very efficient#i feel like they mention this once on the show#maybe i made it up in my head#but i swear there’s a scene where it’s specified that edna does his laundry

trying a whole bunch of stuff out all at once and seeing what sticks. the timelapse is a little chaotic as a result, but it was fun nonetheless, especially lining without any real sketch or planning. can't say i'll do that too often, but i'm glad i tried
#fallout#fallout 4#fo4#nick valentine#rochedotpng#timelapse#not an efficient way to do it i'll admit but a learning experience nonetheless#to give you an idea how not efficient this was i can usually get the effect i want in 5 layers#this took 32#flashing lights#cw flashing

My "hot-take":
FUCK. THESE. THINGS.
I have never encountered a gizmo nor gimbal that I enjoyed interfacing with, not even once. They are the most cumbersome way to interact with anything in 3D space; I would rather chop off my limbs than have to laggardly click, hold, and drag these teeny tiny little tools (for often subtle and precise transformations!).
It is incredibly common to be at an angle where an entire axis is unavailable or unreasonably difficult for you to manipulate. When you're composing a scene of 3D objects, it's not unusual to want to do it in a way that is informed by the current position of your camera. I could rotate the viewport to reach whatever axis is being obscured, but fuck you! I don't want to! Most programs with gizmos have a way to enlarge the axes for this reason—which is great, if you're a fan of having vast portions of the model you're working on obscured by STUPID COLORFUL ARROWS.
So, if not gizmos, then what? I argue that Blender has the best alternative, but Unreal has a pretty compelling one as well. (There are probably other inventive ways of forgoing gizmos in 3D, but these are the two I'm most familiar with. If you know of any other unique control methods for 3D software, I would love to hear about them.)
For Blender, you simply have to press the X, Y, or Z key to constrain the transformation to the corresponding axis; the following manipulation is controlled entirely by the movement of your mouse. You don't have to hold down anything! It is precise, agile, and ergonomic. These controls might be less immediately intuitive than having a literal, visual representation of the axes, but it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces strain on the hands, and with practice, allows you to model so much faster than any gizmo could ever let you.
Unreal, while not a modelling tool, has a similar method of manipulation available. You hold Ctrl, then press a mouse button and drag—left click controls X, right click controls Y, and both simultaneously control Z. It feels very sexy and sleek, like operating a jet. For me, it isn't perfectly ideal (it still involves holding buttons for extended periods of time, and it occupies both hands), but it is infinitely more enjoyable than dealing with gizmos.
I do feel guilty about the sheer extent of my hatred for these poor things. They're so colorful and visually appealing, and certainly the most intuitive way to represent transformations in 3D space. But they suck. They just suck. And they hurt me.
#I definitely do recognize that the intuitiveness of gizmos is their greatest appeal; I taught a friend Blender basics not that long ago‚#and completely forgot to tell him that gizmos were an option until we were done.#And doing so probably would've alleviated like 75% of the navigation struggle. Oops.#Listen you just have to trust me. Learn this weird control scheme to increase your efficiency in the long term.#And to make you passionately hate any 3D software that doesn't let you use it. This will only benefit you

A WEBSITE!
I finally got my neocities website up and running!! Thanks to @gildedware for building the foundation!!!!
I'm currently filling the website with all my photos and whatnot for the *checks notes* 668 Pokemon I've crocheted! That's so MANY. I've got even more project-related stuff to do now yay!! And what's also great is that if Tumblr ever does go down, we can still track my progress and have everything documented on the website!! And I'll be able to add a lot of neat stuff to it in general!
I've still got a lot of work to do on it, but go check out what's up so far!!! dailypokemoncrochet.neocities.org !
#text#neocities#pokemon#crochet#dpc website side quest#i was so right to hire someone to build the layout#gildedware is the BEST FR!!!!!#now i get to do what's my favorite part: data entry!!!!#aaaaAAAAAAA#i keep learning random new things#like the way i am going about stuff is most definitely not the most efficient#but i'm getting more efficient as i go!!!

ok also i wanna talk abt how the innies seem like maybe their personalities align more with how their outies were when they were younger? I feel like it would make sense that Helly was naturally more independent and clever (i mean she's still clever, but Helena uses it for evil). Irv was in the military and i think his dad was too so it would make sense that he was a rule-follower but it seems like his outie has become way cooler and disillusioned with age. Dylan's outie is very quiet and kinda seems like someone who's always dissociating (same, dude) but maybe when he was younger he was more lively. And Mark was a history professor, which i feel like connects to his defiance and his innie's natural ability to inspire people to rise up, but maybe when he was younger he was more like his innie usually is- a timid weenie who does what he's told.
other people and characters in the show have compared them to children, and while the innies clearly have adult brains they do have the naivety and impulse control (lack thereof) of kids, which is especially apparent in how irv and burt act around each other. or rather, they act like people who haven't experienced the stuff that, over time, makes people less likely to do what they want, or even be able to identify what it is they want, their minds have much fewer hypothetical obstacles between their Self and the actions they take. But also, that makes them easier to mold and indoctrinate, just like the kids who attend Egan boarding schools.
#also i kindaaaa read mark and his sister as autistic just a bit#not art#severance#i also love how bits of their outies shine through their innies!#like ms Casey's vernacular fits her outie's position as a rusiian lit professor like she talks like a literature nerd#but acts like a nerd who hasnt found her people yet :(#i already talked abt Mark innately acting like someone who knows history when shit gets crazy#and like the way he acts when in front of a room full of people? that's a professor talking to his studentS#irv's interest in art and details connects to his outie's painting hobby (i rly wanna know more abt his life after military)#*navy not military but whatever#and Dylan's innie def acts like a guy who's learned how to get shit done efficiently like a parent of 3#but he puts it all into working and getting the perks#maybe his affinity for perks is like. toys? like his innie is subconciously still tri#trying to work to provide for his kids without even knowing it#maybe...#i hope his outie loves his family at least as much as his innie does goddamn#he seems to but he also seems so checked out and beaten down and overwhelmed#i wish we knew mor wo#more about him
