Nevermind. They just texted me telling me to come in at 10 instead of 11 to get more done. I’m coming in and then walking right back out. Then go get some Einstein’s Bagels.

my local grocery store doesn't sell lox which was a sad discovery, i don't get it often but bagels and lox has always been my family's special occasion breakfast. and i'm sure another store sells it but haven't found it in me to go searching when the food lion has everything else i like. BUT discovered that they sell a smoked salmon dip which, obvs not the same, but is p delish so i am v happy eating it on a bagel!!

God I miss Einsteins Bagels

scully is truly one of the characters most near and dear to my heart.

she's a navy brat. a middle child to a distant father. a genius. she rewrote einstein at age 23. she is a doctor and a scientist and she's wrestled with god, but never stopped wearing the cross necklace from her mother. she's jealous and territorial. she likes rules and still breaks them with regularity.

she will not discuss her emotions unless it's under 50 layers of metaphor, but she also cannot hide her feelings, so she sits there, visibly moody. she is a terrible liar. she falls asleep easily. she can and will kill someone, but she's such a good shot that she usually doesn't need to- she can put a bullet right in your collarbone and call an ambulance instead.

she spouts disconcerting facts about bugs and decomposition and genetics and saints without blinking. she once autopsied a guy and then ordered his last meal for dinner. she can cure alien viruses. she wants the real cream cheese on her bagel and something sweet to drink. how could you not love her.

I’m finding myself deeply missing my old cheese bagels

What I mean by that is that years ago, I would get these cheese bagels from Costco, and I’d eat them for breakfast (or lunch if I wanted to). And since they’d go bad within a few days, we’d always put them in the freezer, and I’d put them in the microwave to heat them up, and doing that and cutting them, I’d spread them with butter (or I’d just put in white cheddar if it was lunch), and let me tell you, those bagels were DELICIOUS. Especially when the bagels had excess cheese on them and I’d pick those bits off and eat them

But starting some years back (I don’t remember when), they changed the brand of bagels from Einstein Bros to Kirkland, and I admit that the Kirkland bagels aren’t as good as the original ones, especially since they don’t have that excess cheese

But I mean, for the most part I can live with that. But right now, I can’t have any form of the cheesy bagels

And that’s not necessarily because I can’t get the bagels. We actually have an Einstein Bros on our campus that sells the cheesy bagels. But the problem is, I only really like the bagels when I’ve heated them up from when they were in the freezer, they’re just softer and piping hot, and I love that. To be honest I can find myself struggling to get through a normal bagel, not unless there’s peanut butter on it. Not only that, but I don’t have any butter to spread on it, nor do they have it in the store, only cream cheese and probably jam, so I can’t have buttered bagels. The dining halls have butter, but they also don’t have a microwave, so I can’t have both

But I remember how good they tasted, and now I’m just sad

Maybe one day I’ll be able to have them again
