"Attosecond science, honored with the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, is transforming our understanding of how electrons move in atoms, molecules, and solids. An attosecond—equivalent to a billionth of a billionth of a second—enables "slow-motion" visualization of natural processes occurring at extraordinary speeds.
However, until now, most attosecond experiments have been limited to spectroscopic measurements due to the constraints of attosecond light pulse sources.
Using the powerful X-ray Free Electron Laser (FEL) at SLAC National Laboratory in California, the Hamburg team studied how ultrashort pulses interact with nanoparticles. They uncovered a previously unexplored phenomenon: transient ion resonances that enhance image brightness.
These fleeting resonances, which occur when FEL pulses are shorter than those used in most experiments, significantly amplify X-ray scattering efficiency. This discovery not only improves the quality and detail of diffraction images but also marks a crucial step toward atomic-scale imaging. The findings are published in Nature Communications."
"This is a step closer to the ultimate goal of capturing individual atoms in motion," the researchers note. "By fine-tuning X-ray pulse conditions, we will be able to observe details that were previously beyond reach."

Superionic compound with liquid-like dynamics shows promise as solid-state battery electrolyte
Superionic materials are a class of materials that simultaneously present properties that are characteristic of solids and liquids. Essentially, a set of ions in these materials exhibits liquid-like mobility, even if the materials' underlying atomic structure maintains a solid-like order. Due to their unique ionic conductivity patterns, superionic materials could be promising for developing solid-state batteries. These are batteries that contain electrolytes based on solid materials instead of liquid electrolytes. While various past studies have explored the potential of superionic materials as solid-state electrolytes, the physics underpinning their rapid ionic diffusion is not yet fully understood. Specifically, it is unclear whether this property results from liquid-like motion in the material or from the conventional lattice phonons (i.e., atom vibrations) in the material.

Speedworld - safari (2022) – my safari – road to the countryside!

Beautiful front cover. For this music album. With a genre electronics music. So, it is a synthwave, retrowave. Such direction. With style of retro 80s sound. But, it is album from 2022 year. Wow! It is, so, cool! Such a little wind from 80s! It is very refreshing! And front cover is so cool here we have. Such a picture from a rally. And a label – the toughest rally. Wow! It reminds some action movies 80s. And little car just from style of racing games 90s. Or Sega Saturn racing.

There are here 6 music tracks. About 3 minutes, approximately, every track. A little longer. Such a upbeat drive style dynamic rhythms. With interesting synthesizers effects. They give you some spirit of safari, maybe. Desert, exotic places. And you such a ride there. Maybe, it is like this. There is electro guitar. It sounds beautiful. Good tempo, but, well, not fast for a melody. Dynamics is about synthesizers type of rhythms.
Second track, by word, it is more rock and drive such, than a first one. Racing dynamics raises! Racing is most peak time! All tracks reminds a lot synthesizers 80s. Or music to the movies. Action movies. So, someone like a sportsman or main hero is training for a tournament. Something else, this kind, as sport dynamics. As it was ina movies of those years. Or racing. Of course, racing theme is good to go! I in a car listen something like this, often. As retrowave, mainly, not a dynamical, all the time, even.

What is a cool thing here, that retrowave has a mood. Maybe, every music has thing like this. So, here everyone, takes his own decision about what to listen, in the end. This or that track. This or that artist. And, so, in a third track. There is a positive theme in a music. Little music sounds funny. And, so, mysterious synthesizers theme in the start. So, it starts as a calm thing!
There is some big mystery in the synthesizers! At least, personally for me. And, in the end, of the first track it will be a thunder of electro guitars as a thunder sound, well, a little like that. Cool! And still goes a funny such synthesizers dynamic rhythm.

Compositions often has something atmosphere part, but, also, a dynamics. But, well, little more low sound. And a part where dynamics straight goes with synthesizers. Little of electro guitar. Melody for example. Rhythm melody. And, so, mainly, 100 percent’s synthesizers are goes here for every track. Power of synthesizers! Dynamics and synthesize!
And, in a song five there are birds singing! Of course, it is a composition, not a songs, there is no vocal here. But, it has a interesting thing – little birds are singing. And next it goes wow rhythm! Already, without birds! Next, during the track it will change. Dynamics and voice of the birds. Once, it is dynamics. Once, it is birds. And, later, it goes such a melodical dream way electro guitar! For a positive mood, you can say, that retro wave is good! Drums are, also, goes good here!

Track Safari - it is last one. Once, again, it goes as a mystery. Calm. Voices of insects, maybe. Sound of rain or how old tree brokes. Something like, you are going though the forest. So, for a few seconds. And it is starting slow electro guitar. With main synthesizers rhythm. Safari, it should to be, not only a rally. But, also, about a walk in the forest. Well, something like this, I can guess by the track. So, with this note of explorer and a scout. In a middle tempo or, maybe, even, little slower. Everything is going to the end. It was exciting journey! Music way type! There is something to remember! And to think about! While you are listening such wonderful tracks!
It is funny, that band has a name SpeedWorld. And album – Safari. And a frontcover has label, at the top – Safari and a sub label – toughest rally. These, you know, there are such two tracks here. With such names.

I am a big fan of electronics music. It is very interesting for me - what is can be as a sound in electronics. And it has lots of genres. Unbelievable different. And I more about retrowave. With style 80s, when music. Dynamic and ambient. I listen while on the road to the countryside in a car, for example. Different retrowave. So, I want to write a little about this!
So, here, by the way, a photos from a countryside road. This is my safari and rally! Such a road travel to the country house and a journey! Music good for this!

Music listner. From time to time i like to listen to the music. And write about it. Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.

*puts on beret picks up cigarette holder and starts talking about differences between the TTYD remake soundtrack and the original*
#well you see.... ze use of dynamic tracking is a definite enhancement. zis cannot be argued... HOWEVER#the choral vocal synthesizer has disgustingly wide vibrato. this is particularly observable in the final chapter where it causes the#entire sinister atmosphere to become melodramatic / modernday adventure movie esque. too orchestral. truly robs the original of its impact.#and is not explainable by hardware limitation whatsoever. there are marked improvements in not only using waveform synthesis...#e.g. the choral pads that pop up in the new sewers theme. very tasteful. chimes in the thousand year door chamber. shamisen in glitzville.#electric guitar. definitive improvements. additionally bringing modern music sensabilities can be an enhancement: grodus' battle theme#conveys his seriousness much better with an industrial electronic edge to it. plenty of additional examples throughout.#however. comparing the final boss themes there is this ``enshittification'' of videogame remakes that can be seen#the major hollywood adventure movie soundtrack problem aforementioned. play enough remakes and you'll notice it. blending into the same.#the shadow queen is meant to have an air of ``sickliness''. of gloom. kinda her whole deal. lost in the remake in my opinion.#(i am almost tempted to gather audio clips and play them side by side. to an audience of absolutely ZERO)#this is not even mentioning that there are no BEES in the remake's final battle theme. <- the punchline of this entire thing#anyways. this post was inevitable. i have an insane ear for soundtracks and sfx as u may have gathered.

Cheers to UK technology firm Evolve Dynamics for helping Ukraine modify its drones to thwart Russian jamming. 👍🏼
Ukraine has partially pushed back a Russian invasion and has sunk much of Russia's Black Sea Fleet – despite having almost no conventional navy. The country is disproportionately resourceful in addition to being highly motivated. But it still requires some help defending itself.
With Russia increasingly using jamming against Ukrainian drones, Evolve Dynamics is developing tech workarounds to beat Putin's jammers.
British engineers technologically modernize drones for Ukraine to make them more resistant to Russian electronic warfare. A British firm called Evolve Dynamics is working on upgrades that could counter Russia’s electronic warfare capabilities against Ukraine’s reconnaissance drones, Reuters reported on 28 March. “It’s a constant ping-pong game between adversaries,” said Mike Dewhirst, the company’s chief executive. By developing alternative radio link algorithms, Evolve Dynamics aims to make it harder for Russia to jam signals controlling Ukraine’s surveillance drones. Both sides have increasingly utilized electronic warfare systems designed to disrupt Russian drone communications frequencies. According to Dewhirst, there have been 85 upgrades to Evolve’s Sky Mantis drones over the last two-and-a-half years to stay ahead. The company directly supplies Ukrainian military units with parts and software to modify the drones when possible. “We’re adding technology to existing drones, modifying them. It might be a software change, a hardware change,” Dewhirst told Reuters. This is reportedly part of an international effort by Ukraine’s allies to support its drone program, which ‘Ukraine hopes will offset Russia’s larger resources.’ Currently, around 200 companies in Ukraine produce unmanned systems, with approximately 50 of them having already obtained permits from the Ministry of Defense and supplying various drones to the army.
Yep, Ukraine has about 200 companies making UAVs. This is a technologically advanced country which is not shy about innovating. After the war we could see it become the European equivalent of South Korea which rose from the ashes of the Korean War to become a leading economic power. And because of its proximity to the EU, it could make the transition to a powerful peacetime economy rather quickly.
Helping Ukraine is an investment which will pay off.

The Best Song on I'll Try Living Like This
In May of 2015, the now legendary & iconic vaporwave trio known as death's dynamic shroud put out what would be the 12th album in their now 50+ discography of full-length records, this one on the then-prestigious Dream Catalogue label: I'll Try Living Like This, produced solely by two of its members James Webster (known as HCMJ) and Keith Rankin (known as Giant Claw). The album was produced in the midst of awaiting cassette production for what would end up being their 13th album in 2016 on Rankin's Orange Milk Records label, produced by the remaining member Tech Honors: CLASSROOM SEXXTAPE.

From the moment it came out to this very day and beyond, I'll Try Living Like This remains to be seen as death's dynamic shroud's revolutionary, genre-redefining magnum opus and it stands as one of vaporwave's most creative & experimental records to achieve this level of notoriety. There's a lot to be said about each individual track and how it pushes the boundaries of a genre so many people neglectfully view as reductive & derivative. But one tracks I want to particularly highlight is one that isn't often seen as the emotional high point that it is early on into the record.
혼자 남은 지금 꼴이
The fourth track into the record in a short streak of amazing tunes kicks off with two samples: The introductory vocal humming of Avant from his song Separated and the stretched out instrumental to AOA's Miniskirt providing the beat & chords, provided more density & reverberation added to the beat. Beyond that, you hear a whole lot going on. There's a specific recurring vocal sample that gets chopped up & glitchy throughout the song, I can't confidently tell you where that's from, it could be from Separated again for all I could tell. Above that, you hear dialogue from CSI: NY spliced in, coming from Kim Kardashian of all people, some shimmering sounds coming from the intro to Fleetwood Mac's classic song Everywhere and later on, some lesser edited samples of the Legend of Zelda Sound & Drama, which I'll touch on in a moment.
It's an incredibly dense track, but more important than what it samples it how it feels to sample these things. The Miniskirt beat, once an upbeat, sharply produced k-pop track, is paulstretched & echoed out to feel much more lethargic but equally intoxicating. I think even without the added elements, the backing track is absolutely thick & heavy. It's like walking through the city on a packed night and just slowly dragging yourself through an extremely concentrated atmosphere, an opaque fog of urban smoke & emotional weight, and it wouldn't feel that way if it didn't sound so… melancholic.
There's a sadness permeating throughout the song. The strange CSI: NY dialogue, the dragged out & buffering vocal glitches, the lonely Avant vocalizing, there's something about all of those elements, combined with the once sensual love song beat profusely slowed down, that makes the whole experience feel so depressive, like an alcoholic bender. After two and a half minutes of this, you're given even more hints to what all of this is. A Japanese dialogue sample from the aforementioned Zelda Sound Drama plays and it of course reads like a piece of Zelda drama… but one sentence sticks out:
愛が鍵です。(Love is the key.)
A little further in, the shimmering of the Everywhere sample strips away. For a moment, it feels less crowded, but still… sad. Shortly before the four minute mark, Link's cry for Zelda is heard, the beat disappears for that moment and when it cuts back in, you hear something swelling in the background. You feel an emotional tension starting to rise. Then Avant sings.
We never turned our backs on each other But now that we're separated We can't stand one another And when we were together We never turned our backs on each other But now that we're separated We can't stand one another You did me wrong
This is a breakup song. More than anything else, it's a tragic, bittersweet, heart-wrenching breakup song. The added bass synths to the beat and orchestral strings climbing further up in the background for as long as those lines are sung; it feels like the rest of the track that came before was trying to suppress its deeply sorrowing emotions before all that resistance just shatters and every ounce of grief just spills out into tears falling into the puddles of rain below. The song concludes from there and it overall changes the dynamic depths of this album's extremely abtract concepts that are as hard to define, pinpoint or deciphir as this one is, if not more so.
This wasn't my favourite song for the longest time. I mean, for a long while, it was 그대 기억에 지쳐 잠들죠, but that's more of an interlude piece that directly transitions into a reprise of this song, funnily enough, that further elaborates on that Miniskirt sample with a bit of an eccojam. But other times, it was Loving is Easy or everybody's favourite 내 마음은 떨고. It was hard to define what really makes I'll Try Living Like This's best song. Sure, the latter had probably the best production of the bunch and the most energy for it, but an emotional pique or a definitive highly was hard to come by in an album that was always so consistent but always in some way relied on its surrounding pieces or the overall album package. 혼자 남은 지금 꼴이, however, completely stands on its own. As its own song and its own emotional piece.
I think it goes ultimately unrecognised in the grand scheme of this album because of how subtle it all is. Everything I just described to you about the song is subtle in their respective degrees. You really don't come to notice its value at the face; you find it out by digesting it further & more thoroughly, giving each listen its own time to clue you in to what it's about and what it's doing here on the album. It ultimately comes across as the most rewarding song on what is considered to this day to be death's dynamic shroud's masterpiece.
One that is immeditely ruined by the vocal samples on 이보다 좋을 수는 없겠어, but believe me, we do not want to have that conversation today.
