El huffed as she sat the last box she had in her room. She was so exhausted, she flopped herself onto her new bed. She always wanted to go to college but she didn’t anticipate it would be this tiring already. 

El sighed as she heard a knock at her front door, slightly annoyed. 

As she walked through the living room she wondered how the hell this could be. I mean Joyce just left, Will is in his dorm halfway across campus and- 

The door opens to see a red-head on the other side of the door. 

“Hi” El said, sounding confused. She furrowed her eyebrows at the girl. 

“Hi” The girl smiled back. “I’m Max” She stuck out her hand.

"El" She looked down at her hand and after a moment shook it. “Not to be rude but, what are you doing here?” El asked, tilting her head and letting go of her hand. 

“Oh,” Max pulled her hand back. “Uhm, I’m your roommate” She said slowly, sounding embarrassed. 

“Oh I thought-” El got cut off byu the girl in the doorway. “I know this is so last minute and I’m sorry they kinda forgot to assign me a room so I’m stuck here” Max shrugged with a frown. 

“Well, there is an extra room so come on in” El smiled and moved out of the way. Max smiled and nodded. 

“So, I guess this is your room” El led the red head into the free room in their dorm. “Thanks” Max sat on her bed. 

“Where’s all your stuff?” El asked, sitting next to her. “Oh, my mom has all that” Max smiled. 

“Something was telling me to drive alone and get here early” She let herself fall back onto the bed. “Thank god for that right?’ El joked, laying next to her. 

“Yeah, I guess so” She chuckled. “So where are you from?” She asked, staring up at the ceiling. “A small town called Lenora in California” El answered, staring at the ceiling with Max. “You?” 

“A small town in Indiana called Hawkins” She giggled. “So, why did you decide to go here?” El asked, propping herself  up on her elbow. “This is my dream college” Max broke her gaze to look at El. 

“Me too” El giggled, looking between Max’s pretty blue eyes. She suddenly noticed how close they were. 

“Uhm” Max spoke in a hushed tone. 

A vibration coming from Max’s phone made both of them jump. “Sorry” Max slurred out of embarrassment and sat back up, taking her phone out of her hoodie pocket.

“My mom’s here, can you help me with my stuff?” She asked with a smile that El suddenly adored. “Of course” She smiled back and got up, sticking her hand out for Max to take.

strangers things but it’s literally just a slice of life of the party being absolute nerds growing up in the 80s and getting into wild shenanigans sitcom style

will runs for class president but whoopsie his speech paper got destroyed somehow so the party is helping him give his speech via charades behind the bleachers

mike falls asleep writing a campaign and has an elaborate dream of the party going on the absolute wildest adventure (this wild adventure being stranger things canon plot line)

lucas is trying to impress max however he can and so the party and their limited knowledge on the female species tries their best to help him but make things much much worse (but max thinks it’s cute so lumax canon yippee)

dustin gets in trouble for whatever reason but it’s his and suzie’s anniversary and he wants to make it special so the party takes a midnight trip to utah and don’t tell anyone

jane (she’s not el in this bc she doesn’t have powers in sitcom things so she’s a normal girl living a normal life but lives with hopper bc i’m a sucker for elhopper moments) wants to go out and have fun with the party and max but her police father doesn’t like her hanging out with those boys (by those boys i mean mike. hopper hates mike in sitcom things and stranger things) but every episode she finds a new clever way to sneak out to hangout with them

max gets sad one day because she misses california and everything in it so the party try to bring california to her with beach stuff and other things that they think means california (i’ve never been to california so idk what california means fr)

“mileven only made out” and “mileven dont know how to communicate” is borderline ableist, and you guys need to be more careful with your words

You’re allowed to have your own opinions on characters and ships, however it reflects on a lot of real life issues cause characters often represents those issues that real people struggle with every day.

The st characters don’t get to interact a lot with every. single. other character because there simply isn’t time in the show. Look at Max and Will.. does them only having had one conversation in the show mean that we can assume that thats the only one they’ve ever had? not really cause that wouldn’t make sense...

Things happen between seasons and scenes. We cant know what happened for sure but we can try and piece a picture together based on what the characters do, how they act towards each other, and what the vibe is.

Mike and Els way of communicating is unique because of Els limited vocabulary..

But its easy for them to communicate and understand each other.

They have their own special way of communicating and being with each other..

Considering the places El came from when he first met her, he was being perfectly gentle and considerate and managed to find a way to make her comfortable and they found their way to communicate and talk.

Their way of talking and being with each other is actually really beautiful and pure, and it doesn’t deserve to be diminished because of Els small vocabulary.

And about “mileven only made out”...

i’m gonna drop some pictures here that i think really indicates that their relationship was a lot deeper than just making out...

And El told Mike about her mom and the time she looked for her, something suuuper super personal...

This parallel that i believe instagram editor wolfhard.lol discovered suggests that Mike had every reason to be as concerned as he was. El had been manipulated by Brenner for years to think the things she was doing weren’t dangerous, to think she was safe when she wasn’t at all. Mike knows that El feels super responsible for all the upside down related stuff that happens, and is willing to push herself far beyond what she can handle because he’s witnessed how self sacrificial she can get first hand...

He knows her well enough to know when she was in danger when no one else did, even herself,,

No matter how, they’ve clearly further bonded and definitely have a deeper understanding of each other and they clearly got to know each other better during their relationship...

They had two kissing scenes, and you’re allowed to assume they made out a lot,

But Hopper was shown to first be petty and overprotective when he was upset over them.

Later it was shown that the reason he felt that way was because Mike and El spent so much time together and Hop felt like El was slipping away from him and that it was ok but it just hurt.

It wasn’t because mileven only made out. Hoppers words about them was clearly shown to be AN EXAGGERATION 

My point is, there’s no real reason to assume that milevens relationship ONLY consisted of making out...

So when you guys act like its canon and that theres no other way to interpretate it..

When you guys say they only made out, you’re saying that you think they didn’t talk, didn’t communicate and didn’t bond further in the span of a 6 MONTH RELATIONSHIP....

WHY??

QUICKLY??

The only thing that differentiates milevens communication from the other st couples is Els limited vocabulary...

You might not realize it, but sometimes you guys imply that Els limited vocabulary diminishes her relationships and makes her unable to connect with people and its just borderline ableist.

You can make all the assumptions you want about what happened between seasons and what the characters are like,

But only mileven gets this treatment. Only EL gets this treatment. Only her relationships and connections to people are diminished like this.

And also, acting like Els limited vocabulary and trauma ONLY invalidates or disproves her relationship with Mike doesn’t make it any less ok and it doesn’t excuse it just because its a het ship.

Els limited vocabulary is not proof against mileven, its not proof for byler and you should know that acting like it is is super wrong. You guys just need to stop. 

You’re allowed to dislike mileven. You’re allowed to hate mileven. But you have to question your reasonings and you have to question the things you’re saying because sometimes it can be hurtful.

Ableism towards El in this fandom is a very big issue not just here, but in every part of the fandom and i think it needs to be talked about more.

I know you don’t mean to, but you’re hurting people. So before you get defensive please just consider what i’m saying.
