So the cecropia cat saga is going pretty well. I have seven, in their second instar, just shy of two weeks old. They’re on box-elder and there are some various geometer stowaways, but there is only peace here. It’s been so satisfying to watch them grow!

The sound of their frass hitting the paper is how I know they’re chugging along and chowing down.

Can’t believe these are the first caterpillars I’ve kept. You know, outside of foolhardy childhood efforts with tiger moths.

one of these days i need to sit down with the butterfly + spider symbolism from tri98 and write a thing about spiders and silk moths — beings that are both capable of producing silk — and the inherent tragedy of the domestic silk moth (bombyx mori) + dependent plants

#theres an ongoing debate about what constitutes as ‘ethical’ silk #given that the way silk is usually harvested is by boiling pupated silk worms #(pupated silk worms are also seen as a snack in some cultures!)#some people think this is inherently cruel. to boil the worm before it has the opportunity to emerge as a moth #but if you allow the moth to emerge the silk will be a much lower quality due to the moth breaking strands #and the adult domestic silk moth has a lifespan of roughly a week.#they have no mouths. they cannot eat. their purpose is to reproduce and then die #the domestic silk moth cannot fly. we’ve bred it out of them.#so the question is: is it ethical to boil the silkworm in its cocoon? is it more ethical to let it turn into a moth?#the answer is: i dont know. only the individual can determine that. but i work with silk and i think abt it a Lot #and i do think theres something there wrt spiders who create and utilize their silk for their own purposes #cough cough independent plants #and the dependent plants. the tragedy of the silk moth. no mouth. limited lifespan. an inability to fly.#marge simpson voice I Just Think Theyre Neat

Me walking into a staff meeting with a little plastic terrarium filled with hornworms and every single woman looking at me in disgust going WHAT ARE THOSE while me and the other co worker who brought them in go :) wormies.

I just got first aid called for me out of nowhere, whilst feeling totally fine. Like sorry, but I can’t look that bad right???

#Apparently I do actuallt #I’m at a baseball game to preform and boy do I dislike baseball #And one memeber of my party is talking to a staff member so I go stand by the wall and out of the blue the stafff member starts beckoning m #-with vigor. I’m super confused but I come over assuming she must need to see me for tickets or sometjing #And she takes me by the arm sits me in one of the shady boxed of spot and tells me to sit while she goes and gets first aid #I was like???? And my poor mother is trying to explain I just need to sit but the lady runs off and comes back with two paramedics #Who come back and are all over me #“Here take this ice pack drink that water are you sure you’re okay??? Do you still feel like you’re gonna pass out?”#So now I sit there for twenty minutes with an ice pack and apperenntly my moth does somewhat agree because she’s holding the ice pack on-#My neck when I put it down #But like #i was totally fine #No more dizzy than I am on any given day #I know I’m a little frail very shaky and often have the complexion of a Victorian fever patient but come on #Do I really look so bad that several people took one look at me and thought “medical emergency”#To make it very clear they were so so nice but I was so confused #And stressed which probably didn’t help my composure #Where are these lovley people when I actually am gonna faint???#But like i have no idea how to refuse medical care #Do I instantly start explaining that in autistic and have some disabilities so it’s alright? Do I go with it? Do I just say no?#Help #chronically ill

You should definitely get your nipples pierced. Do both at once it only lasts a couple minutes. Bras can definitely be worn and I recommend to wear one to protect them and keep them in place! It's a weird sensation and obvs it hurts but I got mine 3 years ago and am still obsessed

ooh okay I didn’t know you were supposed to wear a bra with them! that makes a lot of sense! I’ve heard they either don’t hurt at all or sting really badly, do you mind sharing your experience with the pain? I only have ear piercings so far, and my most painful one was my tragus and I could breathe through that just fine lol

a couple of my close friends have them and really love them, and they look amazing so I’m👀👀 thinking and considering👀

#I also am mildly considering my belly button #but another friend of mine got hers and then immediately had to take it out for an emergency appendectomy lol #so I don’t wanna get the curse #I should probably plan what I want now though so they’re healed in time for summer #I got my conch done in the middle of the summer and that was really a gamble bc I was swimming all the time #I’d rather not risk my nippies like that lmfao #ask valkyrie #moth

me after spending the past 12 hours or so in a blinding panic of anxiety like. hm. things are really gonna be okay, huh

#like. i have a job. my first shift is tomorrow (it's a stage shift but like i have the job it's already concrete)#(and i've staged there before so like i know how the place works)#yeah i don't have rent but my brother might be able to help me out #he's more willing to help me out than he is a lot of people #and he knows i'm really fucked financially this moth #*month #even if he can't — my landlord isn't allowed to start the eviction process til the 15th #she told me to tell her if i ever had an emergency and we can work smth out #(bc last year i was in the psych ward and she said that she understands and she's here for me)#not to mention my first paycheck will definitely be before then #i also have an interview tonight at 6 for what /looks/ like a manager position #the guy asked for my portfolio re: photography/graphic design/etc #so i may be getting like. a Social Media Manager type of job which would be SALARIED #even if not. this place pays their HOSTS what i was getting as an EVENT COORDINATOR #yeah finances still suck but they won't for long #this week is gonna let me know just how things are gonna go from here #and what i'll be able to afford #i just have to calm down and be like ok. this happened. what's my next steps #at the VERY worst my situation would be that i would have to move back in with my mom #which is not great but like i won't be homeless #just gotta take a deep breath and take one day at a time #i mean i keep reminding myself my best friend's roommate was 7 MONTHS LATE on rent #bc he kept buying... eurghghg [redacted]#and while im sure my landlord wouldnt let me go 7 MONTHS #the fact im this stressed about being on time with rent AND IT AINT EVEN JUNE 1 YET #like girl chill #ok. (does a bunch of deep breaths in succession) it's gonna be ok
