Ruby : Part One
hey! can i request a prentiss x daughter fic where reader gets kidnapped by an unsub (lots of angst) and emily is all mama bear to save her. can either end with angst or fluff. thanks!
Reader’s Age: 9 Years Old
Requests: Open
Summary: When Emily leaves for a case she leaves you with your godparents. They both decide to take you to the movies, but that night something terrible happens. The next day Emily Prentiss and the team sit, listening to the case file going over the facts of your godparents murder and your own kidnapping.
A/N: I’ve just watched the episode on the Romanian family and couldn’t help myself, considering I had seen this request just hours earlier.
Tumblr media
You clung to your mother’s leg, your nose was buried in her pant leg, taking in her scent before she went away for what could be days, maybe even a week or two.
She had always told you that she wouldn’t be gone for too long, but it didn’t make a difference to you, she was still gone none the less and you missed her regardless.
You love your godparents, the Brenners, Angie & Mark, both of whom had been your mother’s friends for years, even before you were born, but you loved your mom a lot more. You just wanted to stay with her.
This seemed to be routine, every time Emily would go away it would be the exact same goodbye. Sometimes you would be with your grandparents, her aunts and uncles and other times it would be Angie and Mark.
You were still sitting on the ground, eyes tightly shut. Your mom didn’t try to move, instead she was bend slightly to you, stroking the back of your head.
You couldn’t see you godparents behind you, but you knew that they were there, waiting to close the door when Emily finally managed to coax you off her leg, you weren’t ready for that yet. You knew it would be a while before you saw her again.
Something felt really off, you didn’t like it. This made you want to hold your mother’s leg tighter, she made everything better, safer even. Your mom kept all the bad guys away, she kept you safe.
“I’ll be back before you know it bubs, I’ll be back as soon as I can. And hey! Maybe I could bring you to see the rest of the team after. Would you like that? Hm?”
You looked up at her with a look that made her heart breakl.
“I love you Mommy.”
Your voice was soft and it cracked slightly at the end.
“Hey hey hey bubba, please don’t cry. I love you too, so so much.”
Emily picked you up and held you to her side closely. “My best girl.” She murmured against your forehead.
After a minute she placed you on the ground once again and held your face in her hand. “Behave for Mark and Angie, sweet girl.”
“I always do.” You pouted.
Your mother booped your nose before kissing it.
“I know, lovely girl.”
Just then you heard her phone ding, and you knew it was time for her to go.
“Hey, Y/N.” Called Angie. “Why don’t you say bye to your mom and come help me try a new cookie recipe that I’ve been working on, triple chocolate chip.”
Emily let out a gasp. “Triple chocolate chip! Wow Y/N that’s your favourite!”
You nodded and placed both your hands on her cheeks. “You gotta promise me that you’re gonna come back to me.”
Emily chuckled. “I always do, bubs.”
“I know but I still need to hear you say it, because it helps yknow.”
Emily kissed your cheek. “I promise that I’m gonna come back the second the case is done. Scout’s honour. And hey, I’ll even throw in something else. The second I pick you up I’ll take you to the arcade and we’re gonna stay there however long it takes us to get enough tickets for that giant giraffe.”
It was your turn to gasp. “Mommy! That’s gonna take up over half my room!”
“I’ll bring uncle Derek and uncle Spencer to help carry it then.”
“I don’t think Uncle Spence will be much of a help, Mommy.”
Emily laughed loudly. “Alright, You, Go have fun with Angie and Mark.” She kissed your forehead again.
“I will!” You dashed up the pathway to the door of the Brenner’s house. “I love you Mommy!”
“I love you too, Baby. Have fun.” She called after you.
When you turned back around again, she was getting into the car. “Have a safe trip!”
She smiled at you and waved, getting the gears ready to pull out.
You felt Mark’s hand on your shoulder.
“She’ll be back in no time, Y/N. I’m even willing to bet that she’ll get back by tomorrow night. She’s always in a rush to get back to her favourite gal.”
You smiled up at him.
“And me and Angie was thinking of going to see a movie at around five.”
You grinned. “The new spiderman one?!”
“Mhmm you know it.” Mark laughed. “But I really am in the mood for some cookies. You wanna help your godmother finish em off?”
“Yes please!”
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
The movie was great. You and your godparents all really enjoyed it, although you were beginning to think that you were more a fan of the movie while it was the popcorn and pepsi that did it for them, but either way you had a good time.
You were a little homesick, but you always were, so it was to be expected.
Angie let you stay up until 9.30 pm, which was half an hour over your usual bedtime. You and her had made amazing triple chocolate chip cookies, which was now only double chocolate chip due to yourself and Mark eating a good amount of them before any actually went into the dough.
You currently sat at the table eating said cookies, enjoying the milk that came along with it.
You wondered if your mom was still up. She probably was, she always stayed up late with a cup of coffee in her hand reading some files with Sergio on her lap. Sergio wasn’t allowed in your room. Which wasn’t fair in your opinion.
“Y/N.”
You jumped.
“Woah sorry, kiddo. It’s just me.” Angie spoke softly.
You didn’t know why you had reacted that way, something just didn’t feel right about tonight, you felt like something bad was going to happen, the feeling was foreign to you. Maybe the sooner you got to sleep the sooner you would wake up and see that you were just overthinking or something along those lines.
“I think it’s time for bed, don’t you?”
You nodded your head and took your godmother’s hand as she guided you up the staircase and into the spare bedroom.
“Somethings not right.” You whimpered.
“What do you mean, bug? You don’t feel well?”
“I-I don’t know. Everything just feels off. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like something bad’s gonna happen.”
Angie chuckled lightly. “Don’t be ridiculous, sweetheart. Your mommy’s just fine.”
You werent talking about your mommy, you were talking about you, in that house. You weren’t afraid of Angie and Mark, but of the thought that something horrible was about to happen.
“But-”
“Night night, Y/N.” Angie cut across. You sighed softly before deciding to let it go.
“Oh, I almost forgot.”
Your godmother reached into the cupboard under the nightstand and pulled out your to-go-bag that your mom had prepared, out of said bag she found your stuffed platypus, which you only ever sought out comfort in when your mom went on missions that she wouldn’t be home that night for. For that reason the stuffed animal gained the name ‘Mily,’ as it was somewhat of a substitute for your mom, given the name was “Emily’ but without the E.
“Goodnight, Bug. How about we make pancakes in the morning?”
You grinned and nodded. “Can we make some for Mommy, too?”
“Of course.” She smiled, and you returned the smile.
You barely realised how tired you were. You were asleep the second the light went off, not knowing that that would be the last time you would ever see Angie alive, and also your last proper night sleep that wouldn’t be plagued by horrific nightmares.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
You felt a hand on your mouth before you even got a chance to open your eyes, which darted open straight away, you eyes were greeted by cold grey ones, a menacing glint in them.
Your scream was muffled by a man’s hand, that wasn’t Mark.
His hands were bloody, and so were his clothes, and to make matters worse the blood was now on your face too. But it wasn’t your blood, at least you didn’t think so. But you didn’t know who the hell it belonged to.
Ters sprung to your eyes as the man lifted you up into his arms, you were paralyzed in fear, but after a few seconds you started to kick and squirm.
“Sh sh shhhh, you’re alright.”
You sobbed in your kidnappers arms, what the hell was going on, this wasn’t a dream, it felt too real.
Your voice finally echoed throughout the house when your teeth sank into the man’s hand.
“PLEASE HELP M-”
“Behave or I’ll make you behave.” The man said a bit too calmly.
“MOMMY.”
“I said behave, dammit.” The window was opened now, you tried to scream again even though you knew it would be no use, nobody could hear you, there wasn’t any neighbours near the Brenner residence, the closest being about twenty yards away. The Brenners lived in the middle of the countryside.
“PLEASE I JUST WANT MY MOMMY!”
The man sighed darkly, heaving his leg out the widow. “I just killed your mommy, so be quiet for the love of god.”
You froze, you couldn’t say anything now. He killed Emily. He killed your mommy, You didn’t understand. Why did he kill your mommy?
You were frozen, the next thing you knew was that he was carrying you across the lawn over towards a car you had never seen before.
“Did you get her, Dad?”
“Yeah, open up the trunk and tell your mother to start the car, we gotta get out of here quick before anyone finds the bodies.” Bodies? “I know we just killed em, but you never know how long it’ll take for people to find em these days, with all the gadgets and all, it was so much easier back in my day and- BE QUIET!”
You sobbed even louder. You wanted your mommy, who you were just informed was dead.
“Heavens sake, hand me my handkerchief, Adam. I can’t listen to much more of her whining.”
The trunk of the car was opened by the boy before he dashed off to the front left to retrieve what you knew would be what was demanded by your captor.
“I’m sorry.” You whimpered.
“You’re ok. You’ll learn. They always do.”
The handkerchief was stuffed into your mouth and even more tears threatened to fall.
“Sit tight.”
The door of the trunk slammed shut, leaving you in nothing but darkness.
You could hear people move around in the main part of the car. You could hear celebrations and praise, a woman's voice and the boys and most hauntingly you kidnapper’s. He sounded so normal, as if he hadn’t just kidnapped a kid.
You could still feel the blood that soaked your clothes. It disgusted you.
You tried to shift your legs but realised they were tied together, you repeated the same motion with your arms, but they too, were tied together.
The car started. You felt the urge to sob some more, but suppressed it because of the man in the front, afraid of what would happen if you annoyed him some more.
You just wanted your mommy.
What the hell was going on.
to be continued...

for you, i would ruin myself
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x daughter!reader, hints of Aaron Hotchner x Emily Prentiss Summary: Hotch is a busy man and he truly tried his best to be there for his children, until one day they got into a serious accident, leaving his daughter to be seriously injured. Warnings: heavy angst, sadness, reader got seriously hurt, descriptive injuries, blood, mentions of death, Haley's death, Hotch really tried his best, cliffhanger Author's note: I've been wanting to write for Aaron Hotchner for a while now and have finally gotten the time and inspiration to do so. I don't know if I should make a second part. Word count: 2.1k
Tumblr media
“Dad! Hurry or Jack’s going to eat the cake all by himself!” you hollered from the living room.
Jack giggled “No I’m not,” his hand reaching out for the cookies they baked together that afternoon.
It was a peaceful day, one you have wished for a while now. Your dad’s job made it challenging for him to be home during the weekends, but today is one of the days he has taken the day off to celebrate your birthday.
“I’m coming!” Aaron replied walking to the living room to his children.
He had asked you a few weeks prior if you wanted a party for your birthday but you replied only wanting a small and quiet birthday with him and Jack. “I just want to celebrate the moment with the people I love the most, but I don’t get to do that these days.”
Aaron understands that reference, he has been travelling for work a lot in the past months. This is your first birthday since Haley passed, and it’s hard to celebrate without her.
Pulling Jack to his lap, they both sang Happy Birthday before you blew out the candles. Jack cheered, “We eat the cake and cookies now, Daddy? Please,” Giving his best pout, Aaron laughed.
“At least let y/n cut the cake first,” he chuckled while ruffling his son's hair.
As you are about to slice into the cake, they hear the dreaded ringtone from his work phone. Grimacing slightly, he picked up the call and lifted Jack from his lap before walking to the kitchen, “Hotchner. Yes, JJ?”
You tried not to let your emotions down, you knew this was part of his job. But, your fingers trembled as you sliced the cake before handing a plate to Jack. Your dad is still talking on the phone in the kitchen and judging by how his voice lowered, you know what’s about to come.
You tried to bite back the tears that were threatening to fall - will there be a time when your dad can make more time for his own family?
He walks back into the room, face pulled into a frown. He knelt before you, gaze heavy, “I’m so sorry, honey.” He started. “We got pulled into a case. I got to fly to Arizona.”
His apology lingered in the air. You nod, not really trusting your voice at the moment. You swallowed down your disappointment before forcing out a smile.
“It’s alright, dad.” Your reply was short. You couldn’t let him see the cracks behind your smile. He carried enough burdens, with the weight of his job and being a single parent of two, you couldn’t add your disappointment to his plate.
He frowns not convinced, “Really, me and Jack will just watch Star Wars after this.” Who you are trying to convince, him or yourself, you are not sure.
He looks into your eyes, “I’ll make it up to you, honey,” he whispers, his hand cupping your cheek. You savour this moment - when was the last time Dad held you?
“We’ll be fine, Dad,” You turned away, breaking the contact, and he took the cue to grab his go-bag. Your eyes are misting up but you quickly wipe the tears away not wanting Jack or your dad to see it.
It was your birthday, after all, you are supposed to feel happy, right? Right?
Standing by the door, he crouched down to hug you before pulling away to speak to you, “Happy birthday, honey. I’ll be back soon.”
You watched him walk out the door, knowing he would not be coming home anytime soon.
Tumblr media
The next time Hotch dissapoints you was during the end of school year.
The ticking clock felt like a curse, each second mocking his fading hope. Hotch cursed when he saw the time - 3 hours until 7.00 pm.
Looking at the evidence board, he pinched his eyebrows together, the pins and photos taunting him with a case and the fact that he will be disappointing his daughter, again.
He felt a buzz from his pocket notifying a text from you.
I’m getting ready for the show. See you there!
He didn’t get to reply to the text as Morgan notified him the tactical team was ready to go to the unsub’s place. Pulling on his vest, it felt tight against his chest, burned with frustration and anxiety about the situation. He gripped the steering wheel, knuckles white, as he led the team to the location provided.
Emily sat beside him noticing his tense posture, “You alright, Hotch?”
He doesn’t want his emotions to cloud his judgment while being in the field. Shifting his gaze into a stoic focus, he said, “Yeah, just ready to wrap the case after we catch the unsub.”
Emily was not convinced as her gaze cut through his stoic mask with her head tilted to the side and eyebrow arched. Hotch sighs, “Y/N’s recital… it’s tonight. Her solo. And I won’t be there.”
She winced, the weight of his unspoken pain echoing in the silence of the car.
“I promised to be there but I know even if we get this guy on time, by the time we arrive in Quantico, the show is finished.”
You squinted through the glare of the spotlights where a sea face blurred in your vision. Your eyes, desperate with searching, landed on Aunt Jessica’s sympathetic gaze, followed by the emptiness of the reserved seat beside her. She waved when you both locked eyes and gave you an apologetic look when your eyes lingered on the empty seat next to her.
The audience applauded after your fingers hit the last note, but all you can hear is the deafening silence inside your head. Flashes of should’ve, would’ve echoed in your head, as the seat next to Aunt Jess remained empty even until you took the final bow.
The case dragged on as Hotch and Prentiss interrogate the unsub into a confession. By the time the team puts their reports in, it's almost midnight.
Hotch tiptoed into the living room, the house quiet. Your bedroom door flicked open and you felt your dad’s presence.
“I'm sorry, honey.” His voice rasped, each word carving deeper into your disappointment.
“I-” You started, voice thick with unshed tears “I- I understand, Dad.” The lie tasted bitter in your mouth.
When he remained quiet, you continued, “It's part of the job, right.” You whispered, voice cracking at the end.
Hotch swallowed his guilt, he'll never get to see her perform on stage. “Honey, I-” He puts a hand on your shoulder to offer some sort of comfort. But, the both of you know nothing can take back his action. “I really tried to be there, y/n,” He said instead.
Still looking away from him, you took a shuddered breath before sighing, “I just…” you whispered, “I wished you were there.”
Silence consumed the room as they both weighed their words in.
Tumblr media
Somehow, too many disappointments led him to situations he regrets.
Hotch frowned deepened when the traffic slows during the drive back to Quantico.
“Traffic’s unusual at this hour,” Prentiss muttered on his side.
Hotch grunted not in the mood. The team got called in for a case over the weekend, and they just finished wrapping it up. Despite it being local, he is still pissed to be working on his day off.
Sirens wailed behind their SUV, and he glanced in the rear mirror where an ambulance was passing through the traffic. The traffic moved slowly and they passed by a few police cars parked by the roadside trying to control the traffic where an accident had happened.
Amidst the flashing lights, he saw it - a black sedan crumpled beyond recognition. His breath hitched in his throat as he saw the plates before he pulled to a sudden stop by the roadside.
“Hotch? Why did we stop?”
She followed his gaze to the plate numbers before realisation dawned on her. Not caring to answer her, he jumped out of the SUV before running towards the scene. The smell of gasoline overwhelms his nostrils as his eyes wildly look around the crash site. An officer pulled in front of him, “Sir, please step back.”
“My family!” His roar cut through the atmosphere as he tried to shove past the officer. “Let me through! That’s my family!”
“Aaron!” A familiar voice hollered and he spotted Jessica’s wild curls from a distance. Jessica stumbled toward him, her face smudged with soot and blood stained her shirt. Dread fills his chest as he takes in the condition she is in.
“Jess!” His voice, usually calm and composed, cracked as he pulled her into a crushing embrace. “What’s happened? Where’s Jack?” He threw many questions. “Jess, tell me what happened! Oh my God, where’s y/n?” Aaron could feel the thumping in his chest.
Jess was crying, “I’m sorry, Aaron. I’m really sorry,” she choked out and he almost lost his mind when he heard those words from her.
Then a small figure emerge from the chaos, “Daddy!” Jack’s familiar voice brought some peace to his racing heart. Running towards the boy, who was being attended by a paramedic, he crouched down to console his son’s terrified sobs, “Hey, buddy. Oh Jack, ohh,” Jack was crying, a deep gash etched across his forehead.
His gaze, frantic and desperate, scoured the scene before he landed on a stretcher with you lying on top. He felt his heart drop when he saw your face, pale with a brutal gash mirroring the one on Jack’s head.
“y/n!” The name ripped from his throat as he nearly scrambled to run towards you.
“y/n! Open your eyes, sweetheart,” Aaron begged as he stood by your side.
“Sir, please step aside so we can help her,” One of the paramedics told him.
He begged, “P-please, she’s my daughter,” Tears were streaming down his face, “Y/n, I’m here, sweetheart. I’m here,” He sobbed trying to take hold of your hand. It felt cold to his touch, you have lost too much blood, causing your body temperature to drop.
You stirred before your eyes fluttered open, “D- dad?” your voice croaked.
Gripping your hand tightly, “I’m here, honey. Dad’s here,” Aaron assured.
Gaze unfocused as your eyes stared ahead, “D- dad, you’re h-here?” You try to reach out. Aaron tried to smooth out the hair out of your face, his face coming into your view.
“I’m here, y/n.” He assured again.
“Dad… it hurts...” You cried, and Hotch felt like his heart had been stabbed. Your whole body was on fire and your breathing hurt. Tears were streaming down your cheeks, mingling with the blood smearing your face.
“I know, sweetheart, I know. But you’re going to be okay. They are going to help you, okay.” His reassurances trembled, knowing he should not make any promises given the condition you are in.
Before you could reply, your eyes fluttered shut before your grip slackened in his. He panicked, calling out your name, “Wake up y/n,” His calloused hand cupped your cheeks, a silent plea etched in his words.
“Don’t do this, honey. Open your eyes, y/n.” His voice, usually strong and steady, cracked as he choked back a sob.
“Step aside, sir.” One of the paramedics immediately rushed.
Right in front of him, he saw another paramedic insert a breathing tube into his daughter’s mouth to help you breathe. Aaron saw his world turned dark when the monitor connecting to your chest beeped rapidly, signalling the heart's struggle to beat rhythmically.
Hotch felt like he failed you.
He failed to protect you.
He failed to be the father you need.
“We are going to be taking your daughter to Georgetown University Hospital, sir,” The paramedic informed as the stretcher was wheeled into the ambulance. “She’s not stable, you can follow us in your vehicle,” He said sympathetically.
His fingers dug into the cold metal of the stretcher, refusing to let go. "I have to be with her," his voice rough with desperation. "Please, just let me hold her hand."
The paramedic's gaze softened, but his hands stayed firm. "She's losing too much blood, sir. Every minute counts. You'll be with her soon, I promise."
Aaron nodded and released his grip, a sob escaping his throat. Images flickered behind his eyes: empty birthday chairs, unanswered phone calls, a whispered promise to come home. How many times had he failed to be there? How many moments had slipped through his fingers, swallowed by the demands of work?
Haley’s pained voice, etched in his memory, morphed into y/n’s bloodied face.
How many times have you needed him but he wasn’t there?
How many times did he leave his family for work?
His knees buckled as he watched the ambulance drive into the night, flashing sirens blurring into the smoked air. His hands trembled on his side unable to control the weight of guilt inside him.
Emily’s voice cut through the fog, “Hotch,” No amount of words can offer him any comfort in that moment. She tried, nevertheless, “She’s strong, Aaron.”
He hopes so.
He really hopes that you’ll be okay.

an aaron hotchner x reader where she brings in their kid to the office!! i feel like this could be super cute!!
“Aw, look at her chubby little cheeks!”
Garcia squeals, making grabby hands at the little girl resting on your hip. You laugh and let the blonde woman take your toddler from your arms. The 2 year old claps in delight and immediately latches her hands onto the chunky necklace Garcia was wearing. She was like a crow, anything shiny immediately was in her hands.
“You did good, mama,” Derek smiles as he pulls you into a side hug. You grin up at him and hug him back.
“Thanks, Morgan. Any idea where Aaron is at?” You ask, smiling warmly as Spencer and JJ come over to coo at your little girl too.
“Last I saw, him and Rossi were talking in his office,” Derek chuckles as little Hotchner tugs on Reid’s hair. You smile as you watch her look over at the sound of the deep laugh, your baby immediately squealing at the sight of Uncle Derek.
Suddenly you’re being pulled into a warm chest from behind, strong arms wrapping around your waist to tug you backwards. You laugh softly as Aaron takes a deep breath with his nose pressed to your hair.
“My favorite girls,” He murmurs. “The best surprise.”
“Brought you lunch, too. Thought maybe we could do a picnic,” you hum back. It’s impossible not to lean back into his warmth and close your eyes, just resting like that for a moment.
“Maybe we could steal a few minutes for just us. I don’t think anyone is going to be letting our girl go for the next little bit,” Aaron says with a hint of a laugh in his voice. He watches as his team passes around your little girl, listening intently to the senseless babbles that make up the story she’s telling.
“Sounds perfect to me.”
Pulling out of Aaron’s arms, you grab his large hand and interlace your fingers. JJ catches your eye and send a wink along with a thumbs up, assuring you that she’d keep an eye on your baby girl. Tugging, you lead Aaron out of the bullpen with the team smirking and laughing at the two of you.

The Faces of Emily Prentiss
Request from anon: Could I request Emily Prentiss & teen!daughter? Maybe Emily doesn’t notice how her daughter pulls back and keeps to herself more and more because she struggles with her mom being gone so much recently and school being a lot for her (procrastination, problems concentrating when worrying about her mom, …). You can do with this whatever you like Gill, I’m just excited to read more of yours 🥰
Emily Prentiss x daughter!reader (can be read as teen!reader)
Summary: reader’s grades have been slipping and it brings up many feelings between them and Emily.
A/N: Okay, wow, I did not expect for this fic to come out this long. Maybe I should write more mom!Emily because apparently it’s inspiring. Kinda angsty with a fluffy-ish ending. There were no places to put in pronouns, so even though it’s daughter!reader it can be read as teen!reader.
CW: brief mention of psych evaluation, Emily is an absent mother, one mention that Emily wears weapons, nickname for reader is “kiddo” (if you think you know why let me know and I’ll give you a pat on the back for the right answer), reader has hair but length is not specified.
---
Manila, in your opinion, was the worst color. Not because of the color itself, but because of the things adorned with it - walls poorly painted by landlords, rags that should have been thrown out years ago, the hair of the snooty girls at school, the tug-of-war rope used in gym class that always burned your hands.
Folders.
If you could have tossed the one your teacher gave to you into the trash, you probably would have. I might as well, you thought to yourself. The thing was destined to get lost in the pile of similar ones on your mother’s desk. Would you rather go to a landfill, or sit with a bunch of cases on serial killers?
The folder, expectantly, didn’t respond. If it did, you would have been worried for your sanity. Then the next folder that landed on Emily Prentiss’s desk would have been a concerning psychiatric evaluation instead of your report card. At least with the evaluation she might have to pay a little more attention to you.
The door to your mother’s home office was always open. She locked you away from too many parts of her already - and even though she was well aware that some of the information in that room was supposed to stay classified - the idea of locking you out of a room that was in your own home, was too physical for her to bear. Not that she would ever tell you.
You knocked on the wood softly, though you didn’t know why. She wasn’t home. She was never home anymore; knocking was just a polite habit. You put your hand to the knob and swung open the door, then found yourself disappointed when she wasn’t asleep at her desk. Knocking wasn’t a polite habit; it was a hope that, for once, she would be there to answer. A hope that was far out of reach.
You put the report card folder on top of the stack, becoming just another document that had to be marked with the initials E.P. before it could be filed away.
In a house this big, the quiet should have been eerie, but it wasn’t. The quiet was normal. You sat down at the kitchen table and pulled out your phone, opening to your messages with your mom.
Badass Maman:
Hey, kiddo. Leaving for an emergency case. Be back soon. (Received 2 days ago)
You:
Okay. I love you. (Delivered 2 days ago)
Yep. Normal.
It was still that way an hour later when you did your homework, and when the nanny came to check on you. It was that way when you went to bed that night and woke up the next morning. Everything about it was normal.
You wished it wasn’t.
---
Phones weren’t allowed in classrooms, but they were allowed in the hallways. A familiar ding went off as you walked with your friend to second period math. Your friend pulled their phone from their pocket and frowned.
“Did something happen?” you asked.
They shook their head. “No notification.”
You pulled your phone out, and the world stopped entirely when you saw it was a message from your mom.
Badass Maman:
Flying home now. I’ll be back when you get home from school. I love you. (Received Now)
Relief flooded over you.
“Did something happen?” your friend asked.
“My mom is on her way home.” For the first time in days, you felt air could fill the entirety of your lungs. The million-mile-an-hour heart that was beating in your chest slowed to a regular pace. The tension in your too-tight shoulders loosened.
You:
Okay. I love you too. (Read Now)
---
You had all but forgotten about the manila folder holding your report card. It hadn’t crossed your mind since you placed it on your mother’s desk. You hadn’t bothered to look inside when you received it, too focused on the cursed cover to think about the letters inside.
When you unlocked the front door and stepped inside, you called out immediately for her. “Mom! I’m home!” but there was no answer. “Mom?”
It wasn’t unusual for her to fall asleep on the couch, waiting for you to get home from school after being sleep deprived for days. Still, the living room couch was void of any life. You turned to the kitchen, but found nobody there. So you made the walk to the only other place your mother might go in the house after a case: her office.
The door was half-way open, but still, you knocked. A polite habit.
She turned from her seat at her desk, took in the sight of you, and smiled. Within seconds you were wrapped in her arms. Your head landed on her shoulder, while she ran a gentle hand through your hair.
“God, I missed you, kiddo,” she said. The exhaustion in her voice contradicted the strength of her embrace.
“I missed you too, mom,” you whispered. She held you for a little longer than normal, and when she did let go, you couldn’t help but profile her a little.
There were three different faces Emily Prentiss wore:
The Agent Face: a raven-haired, modern fem fatale that runs off enough coffee to kill a small horse, she walks through bloody crime scenes unfazed. She’s a no-nonsense attitude dressed in heeled boots and a glock. With intelligence sharper than a blade and a smart-mouth to match, it’s only fitting that she works for one of the most elite units of the FBI.
The Emily Face: always classy with a little bit of fun sprinkled in. She’s got a wicked sense of humor, a brilliant laugh, and a bright smile to match. The kind of friend who is down for a night on the town or a quiet movie night. This, you know, is the face she wears outside of work, around her friends; you can only imagine what this face looked like before the agency, and before you.
The Mom Face: the one you see the most. It’s the face that can’t cook to save her life, though she tries very hard. The one that celebrates your ups and supports you in your downs. She’s started to find a few more gray hairs as you've grown older, but that’s to be expected from a strong woman raising a child alone. The only one of the faces that’s unsure about if she’s good enough; everything in you wants to tell her she is.
The face she wore right now, seemed to be a combination of all three. She hadn’t been home long enough to have changed from her work attire into a normal tee shirt and jeans. You could see the traces of mascara on her shoulder where either Penelope or JJ had needed a friend’s shoulder to cry on. The unsteadiness that crossed her expression only ever appeared when it came to parenting… when it came to you.
“There were kids, weren’t there?” you said. And though her past was full of secrets, she didn’t bother keeping this one in.
“There were,” she sighed. Once again, she brought her hand to your hair, as if she were trying to sooth herself with the texture of it while making sure that you were real. “But it’s over now.”
You didn’t know if that meant the case ended good or bad, and you were thankful that you weren’t a good enough profiler (yet) to read the answer in her expression. “I’m gonna finish up some work and then we can catch up, okay?”
You nodded. “Yeah. I’ll go do my homework.”
She pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead and you gave her a tight-lipped smile before she moved back to her desk and you moved towards the door.
“Open or closed?” you asked her, standing in the threshold.
“You can leave it open,” she replied.
It was her answer every time, but you still always asked. A polite habit.
---
Two hours later, you were still struggling through your math homework at the kitchen table and your mom was still in her office. Knuckles tightened around your pencil before you let it go with an exasperated sigh and crumbled up the loose leaf paper you were working on. You sifted through your notes, trying to find the formula, but you had either written it down incorrectly or not at all.
You pulled the textbook from your bag only to find that you’d forgotten to write down what section the class was studying. With your brain feeling fried inside your head, it made skimming through the chapter more difficult, and by the time you’d gotten to the end, you were no closer to figuring out the answer than when you started.
Fueled by frustration, a trail of French expletives left your mouth.
“Well, I’m glad you’re at least keeping up with your language studies.” You looked up to see your mom standing on the threshold of the kitchen.
Even in duck-print pajama pants, she still looked intimidating, leaning on one hip with her arms crossed over her chest. As soon as you noticed her stance, she began walking towards you, uncrossing her arms. In one of her hands was a dreaded manila folder. With the ease that only a master interrogator could have, she sat down at the table and pushed the folder towards you, opening it so you could see the grades inside.
You were sure the many files on her desk showed far more hellish images than your grades, but it even caught you off-guard to see that you were failing or close to failing every class. It dawned on you suddenly that your grades had been slipping, but you didn’t imagine that they had gone down so fast.
“I-” you started, but the shock was flooding you. Emily took the folder and closed it, pulling it out of your line of sight and snapping you back to reality. Your genuine reaction must have been enough to tell her that you were as unaware of the situation as she was.
“Kiddo,” she sighed. “What happened?”
Her voice and features softened - The Concerned Mother Face. It wasn’t one that appeared a lot… just when big things happened, like moving to a new country or faking both your deaths. That kind of stuff.
You shrugged helplessly. “I don’t know. This year has been…” With a shaky breath everything rose to the surface. “It’s hard to do things when I’m never sure if you’re dead or alive.”
A new face of Emily Prentiss formed in front of your tear-filled eyes. This one was vastly different from the others. It was exhausted from sleepless nights in random police stations across the country, when all she wanted was to be home; it was pain-filled from every wound she wore on her body that she insisted she didn’t need help cleaning; and it was that of a mother who had just brought home a newborn, with no clue as to how she was supposed to raise an innocent being into a human.
She said no words, only embraced you. After the familiar comfort of her arms calmed you, you went to pull away. She didn’t let you go. A spot on your shoulder had become wet with her tears. You held her tighter, and when a sob racked through her weary body, you hummed the tune of the ballad she used to sing you as a little girl.
Only when she began to sing the words of the song, you knew it would be okay. Only then, you could be sure that Emily Prentiss - the smartest, strongest, bravest person you had ever known - wouldn’t fall apart if you let go.
In French just as smooth as her English, she began to whisper the rhyme. A dozen times you had wondered why that was the primary tongue she chose to raise you with. You were passable in Spanish and Arabic, but it was the language of love that your mother had wanted you to speak fluently.
That reason was good enough.
The song came to an end and she pulled away to look at you, caressing your cheek with a gentle hand. “I’m sorry,” she said.
You shook your head. “You don’t have anything to be sorry about, mom. You save people.”
Emily sighed. “But I can do better letting you know that I’m safe. I can at least find time to make sure to answer your texts.” You looked down, feeling the slightest bit guilty. But your mom wasn’t a profiler for nothing. “Don’t you do that,” she said sternly - The Agent Face.
“But-”
“No buts. It’s you and me. It’s always been you and me.” A sneaky smile escaped from her lips. “Plus I promised myself I wouldn’t be like your grandmother and put my job in front of my children.”
That had the both of you giggling - The Emily Face.
She pulled you back into her arms, stroking a gentle hand through your hair. “I love you, kiddo.” - The Mother Face.
“I love you too, mom.”

i pulled up outside the bau, feeling sick. garcia was in here and i was praying she could help me. i hadn't been able to show my face at school for months and mum had no idea. i couldn't tell her. i couldn't dare - what would she think of me? would she call me a whore? a slag? like the rest of them. i knew my mum was usually understanding but at the same time, this was serious.
i left the elevator with my visitor badge on and tried to stay out of sight. i knew mum was on a case and not in town but i didn't know about anyone else. i was well known at the bau, people loved me but i didn't want to be recognised now. i felt ashamed looking at my reflection.
i knocked on the door to garcia's computers and heard her little chime from inside 'two seconds my love'. she didn't know who it was but she called everyone the sweetest names. she just radiated love and positivity, i could already feel myself feeling better. to my shock, jj opened the door. "y/n!" she cheered, smiling widely. "y/n?" garcia said, spinning on her chair. "emily's on a case, did she not tell you?" jj said, concerned. "oh erm," i muttered and lowered my head. "i came to see garcia." "oh come in sweet cheeks!" garcia said, standing up and welcoming me in. "do you want me to leave you to it?" jj asked sweetly but something compelled me to shake my head. i needed her support too. "sit down baby, are you okay?" garcia asked. i felt sick. "i can't tell you so i'm going to show you," i mumbled. "okay," garcia said. i tapped away on my phone til i found the twitter post. i handed it to garcia and she looked at it. jj peering over her shoulder. "oh sugar plum," garcia mumbled. "does emily know?" jj asked me, sadness in her voice. i shook my head rapidly. "please don't tell her!" "y/n," jj sighed. she crouched down beside me and i felt tears welling up in my eyes. "babe, this was posted over a month ago, why didn't you come to me sooner?" "i couldn't leave my house." i buried my head in my hands and jj held me.
"i didn't take them," i whispered. "you didn't?" jj asked, putting some hair behind my ear. penelope was already looking at how to get rid of them, although it was hard. she was going to find the origin at least because then we know who posted them. "some guy," i began explaining. "we got drunk one night when mum was away and he - he forced me too. he used a polaroid and , and his phone but i didn't know he used his phone." "that's okay," jj muttered, stroking my hair. "right, i've got the person who posted it," garcia said. "however, it is one of them cases where it's on the internet and anyone can have them - especially after a month." i nodded, understanding. when she showed me the guy who posted them i felt even more violated as i didn't even know him. "baby, can we ring emily?" jj asked. "no! no you can't!" "she'll understand, she really will." "no, she can't see them." "she doesn't have to see them, we'll just be able to arrest him and get him put away for it. we can also get talking to the people who shared it." i began to cry. i wanted my mum, so bad. i just began to nod. jj and garcia were decent cuddles but nothing beat my mum. jj held me whilst garcia rang emily.
"what've you got for me garcia?" mum asked down the phone. "emily, are you alone?" garcia asked. "this is personal." "i don't really have time for personal-..." she began. "it's about your daughter so yes you do," penelope said. i smiled at that. we heard mum mumble a quick 'excuse me' to whoever she was with. "what's happened?" her voice was panicked. "JJ and i got a little unprompted visit from your baby today," garcia began. i hugged jj and she pulled me closer to her. "is she okay?" emily asked. "emily you can't judge, she's already hurt enough by it and she just needs her mum. okay?" "garcia, what is going on?" "someone posted pictures of her online, erm, not clothed." i hid in jj, not wanting to hear her response. there was silence for a minute. "do you know who?" she asked. "i tracked down the ip address." "does she know them?" garcia looked at me and i shook my head. "she does not." "i'm coming home," she hung up then. i couldn't tell if she was mad or upset or angry or disappointed. i felt sick. i just clung to jj, hoping she'd understand.
a few hours later, mum charged into garcia's office. i was sat on one of the desks, coffee in my hand and apple in the other. i gulped seeing her. she looked at me, between garcia and jj. "i need to see them." she said, holding out her hand. "no!" i said suddenly, getting down. "no mum, please." i begged. "y/n i need to see what they did to you." "emily," jj whispered as i shook my head over and over. "we've seen them. you don't need to see." "it's nothing i haven't seen before for christ sake!" she groaned, throwing up her hands. i began to cry then, she was angry. so so angry with me. "it's not the same em and you know it." jj said, putting a supportive hand on my back. "we have the IP address and we know who posted them online. we just need your orders to send someone to the house and get him arrested." "get him arrested and sent down. and anyone else who distributed it. no one is getting away with this," she said. i looked at her between my fingers and saw her expression soften at the sight of me. she sighed before pulling me into her arms.
"we'll get them," she said. "mum i'm sorry," i cried. "sorry? why on earth are you sorry?" she asked me, genuinely surprised. "i didn't know he was taking them, i didn't know they'd be posted. i dragged you away from a case," i explained, clinging to her blazer. "sweetheart," she whispered, caressing my hair. "this isn't your fault. at all." she pushed me away slightly and put her fingers under my chin so i looked at her. "i'm not mad or disappointed at you. baby i love you and i'd never judge you." she whispered and my heart swelled with love. "i'm just really fucking mad at the people who hurt my baby." i chuckled a little and she pulled me back into my arms. "what did i tell you eh," jj said, rubbing my back. i only nodded, clinging to my mum. i'd needed this. i'd needed her.

Your mama’s crying
Pairing: Emily Prentiss x daughter reader
Warning: death, angst, Ian Doyle, depression, Ian calling reader by her “name”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been seven months…
Seven months since your mother had passed, your best friend had died at the hands of your father Ian Doyle. Seven months of losing yourself and recreating a new version of who you once were, everything had changed once she left, even me.
I couldn't bare looking into the mirror to stare at the dark eyes, raven hair that I mourned the loss of so I dyed it. Pink. Purple. Blue. Green. Red. Before settling on a beautiful Blonde that she would've loved. I swapped my glasses for coloured contacts, it hurt to see the ghost of my mother in myself.
Seven months and yet it felt like seven years..
The first day had begun a month after mum had passed, I was curled in her bed my face smothered in her blankets that were slowly loosing her scent. Morgan had burst into the room throwing my gym clothes at me telling me to get ready, we ran ten kilometres that day only stopping at the lookout on the hill to yell out our frustrations at the world.
It became a routine of sorts and sometimes Penelope would join us although she couldn’t keep up with us as often. It was okay. We would be okay, Sergio clung to me more as the months grew almost as if he just knew.
I sat with Derek on the roof, his arm wrapped securely around my shoulders as we spoke "I miss her" I whispered curling myself into him more. "Me too, miniP' he kissed my head before resting his cheek on it"me too he repeated sadly "she'd be proud of you, you know that right?" | nodded biting my lip.
I hope she would be
Although I wanted revenge
I had graduated university top of my class with the team cheering me on in the crowd, how was I to see those two guilty faces. It hurt my mother not being in the front row like she was meant to but I imagined she had been.
My father loved me in a strange way
The team thought it best to use me as the bait to catch him, I called him to a cafe just a quiet one that I had visited him before at. Staring at him I felt nothing, his face was blank “whats the softest way to say you took away my friend, my buddy?. Whats the kindest way to say you took away my friend?”.
“You wouldn’t understand Alora” he whispered “so help me understand father” hopefully the team should walk in any moment. “It was simply fate my dear, we have a past” fate? Fate took my mother? My heart had shattering once more.
I wanted to scream and cry, throw anything available at him but I was just so numb and maybe he knew that as he leaned over. Placing a gentle kiss on my forehead before the team burst in “Je t'aime Y/n” he whispered I love you Y/n “Adieu père” I whispered. Goodbye father
How dare he simply call it fate
“Elle m'a enlevé ma fille”
She took my daughter away
I was bound to him, mum was bound to him
I was his daughter
It was all a blur as he was arrested, I had become numb but I knew I hated France it would never be the same I’m not sure Virginia could be the same anymore.
I never went home that day, finding myself at Penelope’s front doorstep tears streaming down my face. Her arms had become home I wondered if my mother would be disappointed in me- of who I had become.
“Oh my sweetheart”
I wished I could’ve told her sooner about my adoration for women of my harboured feelings for an older blonde that I had no chance with. I had an internship with the bau while I found a job that I actually wanted, I had plans just as my mother once had.
We had been called into the conference room, I stood near the back “everyone take a seat” Hotch sighed as JJ stood beside him. "7 months ago I made a decision that affected this Team." he said, and I knew immediatly that this was about mum.
"As you know, Emily had lost a lot of blood after her fight with Doyle. The doctors were able to stabilize her and she was airlifted from Boston to Bethesda under a covert exfilitration. Her identity was strictly need-to-know." he said and I felt sick to my stomach.
"She stayed there until she was well enough to travel, she was reassigned to Paris where she was given several different identities which we had no access to for her security." He goes on.
"She's alive?" Penelope asked.
"But we buried her..." Reid says hurt.
I had buried my mother
I had buried my mother
Yet she had walked into the room with a smile on her face as if these seven months had never existed, I had buried my mother for nothing. These seven months had been a lie, all the words JJ and Aaron said had been lies all those tender hugs and kisses were full of guilt.
I couldn’t help but leave quickly as mum made her way around the team giving out hugs unaware she had watched me go. I couldn’t be there, I couldn’t be in that room not with everyone so happy to have her back, I grieved my mother.
I mourned someone who wasn’t dead
Maybe it was selfish of me but I left the team that day, finally moved my things out of my mothers apartment now that she was back. I ignored her calls so angry she could do such a thing the same went with Aaron and JJ, how could they? my mother?.
The team had called me often saying how my mother had been crying, her sobs begging for me and maybe in some sick way she knew just how I had felt.
I laid with my head in Penelopes lap as I sobbed, her soothing hands running through my hair “I know it’s hard right now Y/n but maybe it would be a good thing if you started talking to her again”.
“I’m just so scared Pen”
“And thats okay baby cakes”
It wouldn’t be another two weeks before I worked up the courage to talk to her, Rossi was hosting a part while I had arrived with the blonde. Mum made her way beside me “I’m proud of you Y/n” she slowly placed a hand on my shoulder.
She took a deep breath in tears already staining her waterline “and I’m sorry, if I could’ve taken you with me I would’ve but Aaron had said no. I asked them everyday about you and I’m sorry I couldn’t be here I’m sorry, I put my little girl through all this pain”
She moved her hands to cup my face “my baby girl, and when you graduated Uni. I made sure Aaron got me a clip of you. I never once stopped thinking about you, Mon cher I love you”
“And I am so so proud of you” the warmth of her lips pressed against my forehead cemented she was real “I’m sorry mama” I cried. “I was just so angry, I didn’t mean to make you cry” she pulled me into her chest rocking us gently side by side.
After a while she chuckle causing me to look up confused “you and Garcia?” She smirked with a raised brow

Aaron Hotchner X Emily Prentiss X Teen Daughter reader
Request: Could you do a hotchniss x daughter reader where they have a teen daughter and she sneakily has a boy over and aaron and Emily come back from a case and they catch him leaving her room and aaron goes into protective dad mode
Third person pov...
Aaron Hotchner and Emily Prentiss had just returned from a particularly intense case in upstate New York. As they stepped off the plane, both agents were exhausted and eager to get back to their home in Virginia.
Little did they know, they were about to face one of their toughest challenges yet - parenting a teenage daughter.
Currently 16 year old Y/N was home alone, not entirely alone she had invited over her boyfriend, David to watch a movie knowing her parents would be on their way home.
They had already called to let her know they would be landing soon, the two had lots of fun spending the day together doing nothing but watching movies and raiding the kichen for snacks.
"Thank God we're back" Emily sighed as they made their way off the jet "I can't wait to sleep in my own bed."
Aaron chuckled, 'You and me both. I just hope our daughter hasn't wrecked the house while we were gone.'
Emily shot him a look, 'Our daughter is a responsible young lady. I'm sure she's been just fine without us.'
Say8ng goodbye to the rest of thw team they got into their car and drove home, but as they walked through the front door of their home.
They were met with a sight that made both of their hearts sink. In the living room, their 16-year-old daughter, Y/N, was cuddled up on the couch with a boy.
Aaron's eyes narrowed in an instant, and Emily could feel his protective instincts on high alert. The couple slowly made their way into the room, trying not to disturb the teenagers who were watching a movie.
As they got closer, they could see that the boy was not just any boy. It was David, a troublemaker from Y/N's school who they had explicitly told her to stay away from.
The teens where cuddled under a blanket, infront of them on thr coffee table were snacks and drinks, playing on the TV was (Favourite movie) Y/N never watches her favourite movie with just anyone.
The black haired woman looks at her husband and could reqd his mind, "Aaron" Emily whispered, trying to calm him down. 'Let's just talk to her." She took his hand in hers and held it.
This made the man relax slightly but a murderous look still on his face.
But before they could say anything, the movie ended and David stood up to leave, Y/N gave him a smile and stood up to hug and kiss him goodbye and sat back down on the sofa, neither teen had seen the two adults in the doorway.
The boy had a love sick grin on his face As he walked towards the door, Aaron stepped in front of him, blocking his path.
"What are you doing here?" Aaron's voice was low and menacing.
David, who previously exuded confidence, now looked like a deer caught in headlights. He mumbled something incoherent and quickly scrambled out of the house.
Emily took a deep breath and turned to her daughter, who was now standing, she had jumped up from the sofa when she hear heard her dad shout, she looked scared and guilty.
Emily crossed her arms and looked at her daughte "What were you thinking, Y/N?" She said, trying to keep her voice calm.
Y/N nervously played with her hands, not looling up at her parents and thwir disapointed look, "I'm sorry" Y/N replied, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I just really like him, and I knew you wouldn't approve" she sais tears running down her face.
Aaron let out a frustrated sigh and ran a hand through his hair. "That doesn't change the fact that we specifically forbid you from seeing him. He's not a good influence, and you know that"
Y/N shook her head, surprising her parents. "But he's not! He's actually really sweet and not at all like he appears! You always told me not to judge people and here you are doing it!" The teen yells.
She collapses onto the sofa her head in her arms. The adults looked at each other before at their cryjng daughter, they had judged the boy by appearences like she said.
Emily sat down next to her and put an arm around her shoulders. "I'm sorry Honey, you arw right we did judge him but appearance, but it still doesn't make if okay for you to sneak boys inside" she explains to the girl gently.
"Really" Y/N sniffled, wiping at her tears. Aaron knelt in front of her and took her hands in his. "We love you, Y/N. We just want what's best for you" he says gently to the girl.
Y/N nodded, "I promise, he isn't all that bad, just meet him yourself and you'll see!" She insisted.
The two look at each other then back down at their daughter. She does have a point they don't know anything about the boy.
Aaron sighed at the look his wife gave him. "Okay, we will get to know him, but if he hurts you in anyway tell him I've got a gun and knkw how to use it" Says Aaron a not happy smile on his face.
This made the girl laugh, Emily shakes her head at her husband. The couple hugged their daughter and assured her that she was forgiven.
As they talked and cuddled on the couch, Aaron couldn't help but feel grateful for his daughter's honesty and decided to trust her.
'We're going to have to keep a closer eye on her,' Emily said, sipping her tea. 'She's still young, and we can't afford to let her make mistakes like this.'
Aaron nodded, 'I know. It's just hard to believe that our little girl is already sneaking boys into her room.'
Emily chuckled, 'We were teenagers once too, Aaron. We can't expect her to be perfect. We just have to guide her and hope that she learns from her mistakes.'
As they sat in comfortable silence, both agents were reminded of the challenges of being parents to a teenager. But they also knew that they were a strong team and would do anything to protect their daughter, even if it meant going into protective dad mode every now and then.
The end!
Hope you liked this oneshot, sorry for thr wait on this request. As usual sorry for grammar and Spelling mistakes.

heyy!!! i don’t mean to seem eager or like i’m spamming you, but i have a second request if that’s okay! if you’re comfortable, i’d like it to be an x child!reader unless you feel the need to change it to fit your idea of the story better, or whatever makes you comfortable, in which i don’t mind.
reader is Emily Prentiss’ daughter, who is around eight or so and reader is a little daredevil. like, she climbs on things and does these little stunts that scare emily half to death, so she’s always scolding her about it? maybe one day reader ends up doing one of her little stunts and gets hurt – nothing major, just a scraped knee or something, and emily cleans her up and explains why she can’t be doing things like that because it’s dangerous and she could get hurt again? reader tearfully agrees and promises not to do it again, or just something along these lines. i hope you keep your motivation, and are doing well, you’re a wonderful writer!
thanks!! - 🍄 anon

Emily sat on a wooden park bench in front of a small playground while the first warm rays of sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees. The sounds of children playing in the background and the happy chirping of birds formed a harmonious melody. She breathed the scent of the first blooming flowers and freshly mown grass into her nose, watching you play on the climbing frame, fueled by a childlike energy that seemed limitless.
"Honey, please be careful! And don't even think of climbing the trees, love!" She shouted to you as she stressed trying to stay calm while reading a book.
You were a little daredevil with wild curls on your head, ignoring your mother's admonitions and deftly disappearing from her sight to climb a low branch of a nearby oak tree. Your mother sighed and shook her head uncomfortably, not understanding your indomitable need to explore the world. This made Emily particularly anxious, making her heart soar every time she walked outside with you.
"Y/n y/m/n Prentiss! If you don't get down there now, there will be no ice cream for the rest of the week!" She scolded, her voice laced with a hint of concern as she finally tossed the book back into her bag, deeming it pointless to even try to read the first page of it. Emily stood up with a sigh and walked over to you, who was already sitting on the branch, looking up triumphantly and giggling happily to herself. "Oh mom, I have everything under control. Look how high I am!"
"You may have everything under control, but I'm not so sure I have it," she stood on her toe-tips, leaning on the thick trunk of the tree and reaching for your small hand. "Please come down, you little daredevil, before I have a heart attack from being anxious."
You cleverly climbed down again, jumping the last few centimeters into the arms of your mother, who was holding her arms outstretched towards you. Your eyes were still shining with excitement as you sat on her hips and wrapped your hands around her neck. "Mom, look. I'll show you something else I can do."
You wriggled out of her arms and before your mother could say anything or continue to hold you, you began attempting a shaky handstand that you seemed to have copied from the older kids on the lawn a few meters away from the playground. Emily held her breath and didn't look away from you. You swayed menacingly and her fear increased as her mind turned to the worst possible outcomes that could happen if you couldn't keep your balance. But you managed to land on your feet again and beamed proudly at your mother.
"See, Mom. I said I could do it!" You announced happily, clapping your hands together in joy. The black-haired woman couldn't help it and sighed in relief. "Yes, yes. You are really brave, my little devil. But please do me a favor and be careful. I don't want you to get seriously injured and have to go to the doctor. You hate doctors."
You nodded seriously and understandingly before running off to go on the next adventure, banishing what your mother had said to the farthest corner of your brain. Emily shook her head with a smile and thought about how much courage and desire to explore you had and where it came from in the first place. Life was like an endless playing field for you, full of possibilities, and she couldn't deny that deep down she was proud to have such an adventurous daughter.
Worried, she sat back down on the bench and tried to read her new novel once more. You continued to rage around, your energy inexhaustible. And this time, your mother had no idea that the second half of your adventure would be different.
Only minutes later, she heard a surprised, long scream followed by sobbing noises and your voice calling loudly for her. Her maternal instincts kicked in and she quickly jumped up to see what had happened. You sat on the floor, your hands clutching a scraped knee. "Y/n! What happened?" She called out worriedly as she rushed over to you.
"I fell off the wall, mom. It hurts so much!" you sobbed and she immediately knelt next to you in the sandbank to carefully examine the scraped area. Her slightly cold fingers ghosted over your injured skin and as she tried to blow the scratchy sand out of the wound, you began to cry. "Oh dear, that looks really painful. But don't worry, mommy will take care of it."
Emily stood up from her crouch and lifted you back up onto her hip. Your tearful, wet face buried itself in the black-haired girl's shoulder while your hands wrapped tightly around her neck and didn't want to let go. With you, she walked back to her seat and carefully sat down with you on her lap.
She quickly rummaged around in her bag and pulled out a disinfectant spray, zinc ointment and a plaster. As she carefully cleaned and treated your knee, she couldn't help but quietly explain to you how important it was to be careful. "You know how much I love you. Right? That's why you really need to be more careful. These small but dangerous adventures could seriously hurt you. You could hurt yourself more than you can imagine."
With tears in your eyes gently falling down your cheek, you looked up at her, simultaneously playing with a lost strand of her hair that strayed in front of your face. "But it's so much fun. I just wanted to see if I could climb it."
Emily let out a sigh as she carefully stuck the band-aid in place. "I understand it's fun, darling. But safety always comes first. You can have other fun without getting hurt. Mommy is very worried about you."
You lowered your head, rubbing your dirty and grimy hand at your eyes to wipe away the usual tears that remained. A feeling of regret washed over you. "I'm sorry. I promise I won't do it again and if I do, I'll call you so you can hold me."
Emily gently stroked your hair and smiled comfortingly before placing a big kiss on your forehead. "This is my brave little adventurer. I know you're learning and understanding. Sometimes we just need to protect ourselves from ourselves. And since you can't do that yet, I'll do it for you."
You nodded and got up from her lap. She straightened your shirt and pants after the fall, patting them a few times to remove the dust from the sand from you before you took her hand and pulled her to the slide, where she was supposed to slide and swing with you for a few laps.

Why didn't you try?
Summary: Matilda doesn't understand why her dad never seemed to put his family first.
genre: angst
pairing: Spencer Reid & teen!daughter
___
“You never had a problem with staying here after school Tills, it’ll only be for a couple of hours.”, Spencer said as he and his daughter entered the bullpen. Matilda trudged behind him, backpack shouldered and an attitude clearly visible on her face of resentment.
“Sure, always loved spending all of my free time at an office building, the dream," she said sarcastically and headed straight to the roundtable room, bringing distance between her father and her and ignoring the team that were much more than just her father’s coworkers to her.
“What’s up with her?”, Morgan was the first to ask, following his niece with his eyes. Spencer just shrugged, not feeling like getting into his daughter’s teenage attitude hat had only gotten worse towards him since her mom and he had split. They had decided that Matilda would stay with each of them for a week whenever Spencer wasn’t on a case and this was the first week that they had gone through with the arrangement.
Matilda had made it known that she didn’t want to spend time with him, it had broken his heart in a way he had never experienced, but her mother was not having it. As much as the separation had hurt, Spencer was a good dad and she wouldn’t let her daughter shut him out like that. Day two and Spencer was beginning to question if that really was the way to go. Tilly had barely spoken a word to him and had clearly shown her disdain for him and as much as he loved having her with him, he knew that this hurt more than having her be with her mother.
They had been at the BAU for an hour when all of the team had noticed the obvious tension between their resident genius and his daughter and most of them had been victims to their first BAU kid’s temper and mood. Matilda Reid knew she was being insufferable, but she couldn’t but blame every person in this building for her parent’s separation. Especially her father. His job had finally messed it all up beyond repair. She now started to question if her mom had actually just stayed with him because she had been a kid and used to adore her dad. She scoffed at that. Why did she ever adore the man that was barely present? She was almost sure that he had spent more time with the members of the BAU than with her and her mom and it made her even angrier at them all.
“Ohhh my favourite person in the whole world is here!”, Garcia’s cheery voice snapped her attention away from her thoughts and onto the colourful woman that was her godmother. Even she couldn’t change her mood though and none of the team members had been able to warn the woman either so Matilda’s attitude came as an even bigger shock. The teen scoffed at the woman and rolled her eyes.
“Please why do you all feel like you can just march in here and annoy the fuck out of me!”, she snapped loudly and Garcia froze at the door, eyes wide. That was it for Spencer. the whole bullpen had heard his daughter snap and swear and he wasn’t having it. Before Garcia could snap out of her shock Spencer had strode up the stairs and come up behind the woman, glaring down at his daughter.
“That’s it, Matilda! Do you hear yourself? Take your teenage attitude out on me but swearing at your godmother? Absolutely not! Phone!”, he boomed and held out his hand expectantly. “What?”, she questioned in shock. “You heard me, hand over your phone, you’re not talking to anyone like that, especially not the people that love you.” She scoffed. “Fuck off I’m not giving you my phone.”
Garcia’s eyes only grew bigger at the language the teen used and the tension in the room. She really didn’t want to be in the room with both of them and witness this first hand but here she was. “What did you just say to me?”, Spencer's voice had gotten dangerously quiet and his daughter got up from her chair and stood up to face him. “I said: FUCK… OFF!”, she snarled and stared into his angry eyes with the equally angry ones of her mom.
Before Spencer could say anything else she grabbed her phone and turned around to leave, though he was faster, snapping out his hand to grab her wrist tightly. “You are not leaving right now!”, he boomed and she flinched as she turned back around, looking up at him with wide eyes and at her wrist in his strong hands. He had never been so loud with her, but then again she had never been so loud with him either.
“Spencer!”, Garcia squeaked and suddenly Morgan appeared behind Matilda in the door she was trying to exit through. “Reid you better let go of her NOW!”, he ordered and it was only then that he noticed how tightly he was gripping his daughter’s wrist. As if it was on fire he let it go and watched his daughter tumble back into Derek’s chest, still staring up at her dad. Before he could say anything more though she backed off of Derek too and turned to rush out of the room and down the stairs, the team and Spencer following her with their eyes.
It was Emily who jumped up and followed her out, while the rest of them was still frozen in place. “Oh god!”, Spencer snapped out first, clutching his hands in front of his face. “Oh god, I grabbed her… I hurt her! Oh god," he uttered, a wild stare looking after his daughter and tears prickling in his eyes. He ran his hand through his hair messily and then moved to follow her, though Morgan didn’t let him past. “Reid stop.” “I need to apologise! I need to make sure she’s okay! Morgan let me through!” “Emily’s got her! You won’t be much help right now!”, he told him sternly. “I didn’t mean to.. I didn’t mean to grab her that tight! I didn’t… Fuck!”, he exclaimed as he kicked one of the chairs.
---
“Tilly?”, Emily asked softly as she entered the women’s bathroom of the floor. The room was empty but one cubicle was occupied. The woman could hear soft sniffles coming from it and knew who they stemmed from. “Leave me alone!”, the girl snapped trying to sound self-assured but failing miserably. “I’ll give you a minute but I’m not leaving,” Emily announced and leaned against the wall opposite the cubicle. Nothing was heard apart from the soft sniffles. “Are you hurt?”, Emily asked after a while and Matilda looked down at the wrist her dad had grabbed. It was a little red but didn’t really hurt. “No”, she said. “I’m calling my mom.”, she added and Emily sighed.
“Don’t you think you and your dad should talk about what’s going on?” “No I don’t, he can go fuck himself.”, the teen snapped and Emily closed her eyes in defeat. “Tilly. What’s really going on here? I don’t even recognise you.” The teen scoffed. “Well, how would you.” “What do you mean?” “As if you guys cared about anything else but your stupid jobs", she said and this time Emily could hear the hurt sifting through the teen’s words. “That’s not true Tills. We all care about you, especially your dad.”
Matilda shook her head and finally opened up the door, looking up at Emily’s worried eyes. “If he cared he wouldn’t have let it come to this,” she said numbly and shook her head before stepping to the sink and washing her face, in an attempt to hide that she had been crying. Emily just stood by her side and watched her. “Matilda. If anyone knows what neglectful parents look like it's me. And I promise you. Your dad is not one. He loves you more than he loves life itself, you know that.”
Matilda didn’t want to hear that. Deep down she knew Emily was right, but she was still hurt. She was hurt and what made it worse was knowing how much her mom was hurt. “He hurt my mom. Badly,” she said and Emily was beginning to understand what this was. “And now you made it your mission to hurt him too?” Matilda stopped and glared at Emily. it sounded dumb when she said it like that and it hadn’t really been her mission, so she thought at least.
“Come on Matilda, you’re smarter than that.”, Emily said as the teen dried her hands. “He hurt me.” “We both know he never meant to. And may I remind you that you said some pretty hurtful things too?”. “And that gives him the right to hurt me physically? Wow great lesson you're teaching me here Emily.” Matilda snapped back and Emily bit down on her lip. “No I didn’t mean it like that. You’re right, no one has the right to touch you like that honey.”, Emily quickly admitted hearing how that had sounded. “
I just meant.. You snapped at Garcia Tilly.” Matilda’s heart sunk to the pit of her stomach thinking back and she looked down at the floor in shame. “Listen. I know life sucks for you right now and you blame your dad. I don’t know what exactly caused your parents to separate but he loves you, Matilda, I think you should talk about this. Tell him how you feel.” “He’s mad at me.” “Come on now, Spencer is probably being eaten alive by guilt right now, you can bet on Derek giving him a piece of his mind too.” “I don’t want to go back out there.” “Just go straight into my office okay? I’ll get your dad and tell him to be calm if he isn’t okay?”
Matilda nodded and Emily wrapped her arms around her, embracing her for a minute. “I know this is all a lot right now but you’ll be fine.”, she whispered into the girl's ears. “Thank you aunt Emmy”, the girl responded and held on tightly to her. “Let’s get you out of here, hm?”, she said encouragingly and wrapped an arm around the girl's side as they left the bathroom and entered the bullpen again.
All of the other’s gazes followed the two of them and Spencer immediately wanted to rush after them, though Morgan held him back again. “Wait for Emily to talk to us.”, he said to him and he watched his friend lead his daughter into her office before coming over to him. “How is she? I need to apologise, what’s going on?”, he bombarded the woman with questions. “She wants to talk to you, but Spencer you better be calm with her, even if she snaps, she’s angry and hurt, okay? Mentally I mean, her wrist is fine, but if I ever catch you being rough with her again, believe me when I tell you that I will snap you in half Reid.”, she told him and he nodded eagerly. “I’d never hurt her! You know that!”  Emily nodded. “Okay, then go make things right with your daughter. She wanted to call Julia but I convinced her to talk to you first.” The mention of his wife made his heart squeeze with hurt. He still loved her, so much, but it wasn’t working out anymore and he knew she deserved better.

tw: severe self harm, implied suicide, so much crying (be careful reading this<3)
summary: the team find emily and aaron’s daughter at her worst
wc: 2k
chapter: one | two
Tumblr media
Emily couldn’t stop thinking about all the teams’ voices overlapping, their tones absolutely terrified as they panicked. In just a few short minutes, all their lives would be changed forever. Emily’s life as a mom would change, Aaron’s life as a dad would change. Their usual worries would be something else entirely.
“Hey, has anyone seen Lola?” Emily asked, her heart slightly racing as she looked at her team and her husband at the table, the volume in the room fading as they looked at Emily.
“I think she said she was going to the bathroom.” JJ answered, noticing Emily’s slightly wide eyes as she stood in front of them. The dark haired woman turned around, rushing down the hall to the bathroom, leaving the team looking at each other with frowns, confusion making it hard to resume talking about what they were just seconds ago.
JJ stood up, giving the team a small smile as she, too, walked down the hall, seeing Emily knocking rapidly on the bathroom door.
“Lola?” Four more knocks. Nothing. “Honey, you’ve been in there for a long time now.” JJ just watched as Emily breathed heavily, not being able to stand completely still. “Lola?” Two more knocks. Nothing.
Emily turned around, looking at JJ with a frown, her hands on her waist as she bit her lower lip. JJ looked at her with soft, slightly wide eyes. Emily exhaled. “JJ, I…” It sounded like she swallowed a cry. “I need you to get Aaron here.” JJ heard the desperation in her friend’s voice and she nodded, hurrying to get him.
Emily stayed there, continuing to knock, telling herself that her thoughts were wrong. That this wasn’t really happening.
After moments, that felt far too long, her husband was by her side, asking if she was okay.
“I’m fine, I just… you need to get in there.” Emily tried to open the door, mentally telling herself that maybe it would magically open. Aaron looked at his wife, seeing her eyes shining with slight tears. Her voice was laced with concern and her breaths were short. “Aaron, right now. Open the door. I don’t care how you do it, just get it open.” Her words were hurried and she got a glance of JJ fidgeting with her fingers, her eyes unsure.
Aaron grabbed the handle, crashing the side of his body to the door over and over again. It felt like forever until the door finally opened and Aaron was not at all nearly prepared for the sight he was exposed to. There she was, his 15 year old daughter, blood covering her whole arm, her clothes and the floor. He opened his mouth in a silent gasp as he rushed to her side, horrified by how pale she was.
Emily and JJ caught sight of the situation and their hearts hurt as they saw Aaron try to talk Lola back to consciousness. Emily covered her mouth, tears burning in her eyes the second her palm touched her skin. JJ was right behind her, tears watering in her eyes too as she fumbled to get her phone from her pocket. The seconds felt too many as her shaky hands failed her.
“One of you has to call an ambulance, right now.” Aaron called out, cupping his hands over Lola’s arm, trying desperately to stop the bleeding.
“I am. I am.” JJ’s voice trembled and she let out a relieved breath when she finally grabbed her phone, dialing 911. She grabbed Emily who had began depending on the wall as to not fall. Emily’s knees were weak and her body felt heavy as she felt an arm around her waist, pulling her away from the scene. Away from the image that was going to haunt her for years to come.
“How long, JJ?” The blonde heard Aaron ask.
“I don’t know. I’m trying to find out.” She inhaled, trying her best to comfort Emily who was seconds away from collapsing.
“Get me a first aid kit.” JJ didn’t know what to do. Her arm was beginning to hurt from trying to hold up Emily and her heart hurt as she couldn’t stop thinking about what was happening just a wall away. She couldn’t hear what the woman on the phone way saying, not clearly. She felt her lips move but she didn’t hear herself. She heard something that sounded like they were going to be there as fast as they could. JJ heard herself mutter a ‘thank you’ as she looked around for a first aid kit. She searched high up, seeing the green box she was looking for on a shelf. She reached up, her breaths uneven.
As soon as Aaron got a hold of the box, he immediately got to work, bandaging up his daughter’s arm, his chest hurting as he looked at his little girl, her face pale and head heavy.
“Lola, honey. I need you to look at me.” He said, slightly panicking as the blood seeped through the bandage. “Lola. Look at me.” His brown eyes met Lola’s dark ones. “Good. Keep looking at me.” He nodded, glancing at JJ who was barely visible behind the doorway. “JJ, get Rossi in here. You need to take care of Emily right now.” Aaron shouted, not sure if JJ even heard him through Emily’s sobs. There was no answer, but moments later, he heard hurrying footsteps and then David talking to the operator on JJ’s phone. Aaron exhaled, keeping light pressure on the bandage.
Without the phone in hand, JJ could finally keep her focus on Emily who was completely destroyed. In the corner of her eye, she saw Spencer rush in.
When Emily tried to go into the bathroom, JJ gripped her even tighter, keeping her away from the nightmare that was happening.
“No, no, no. Emily. Emily.” JJ softly spoke, her voice trembling as she lead the brunette out to the hall.
Emily leaned against the wall, hyperventilating as she slid down to the ground. JJ was right beside her, usually comforting words coming from her lips as her throat began to close up. They didn’t help much now. “Emily.” Her sobs were too loud. JJ placed her hands on Emily’s cheeks, caressing as she tried to initiate eye contact. “Emily, breathe. Emily. Emily. Look at me.” Emily looked up, her eyes carrying a certain heartbreak JJ had never seen before. Her feelings were overwhelming. “It’s going to be okay.” JJ nodded, Emily looked down, taking a short breath. “Look at me. Breathe.” Emily looked up again, her brown eyes staying on JJ’s blue ones.
“She looked like she was dead, JJ.” Emily was hysterical. The sentence made the blonde’s heart hurt.
“No, no, no. She’s not. She’s not dead. She’s not.” Emily just continued sobbing, placing her own hands over JJ’s.
“I can’t lose her. I ca—“ A sharp breath. “I can’t lose her, JJ. She’s my Lola. She’s my—“
“You won’t. They’re all helping her right now and an ambulance is coming. You will not lose her.” JJ heard her name being shouted and she panicked, not knowing what to focus on.
She quickly ran to the bathroom again, seeing Spencer in the doorway, looking at the scene with wide eyes. Quickly, she took a hold of his arms, looking into his eyes as she told him to go to Emily. He nodded, running out to the hall.
JJ exhaled as she rushed into the bathroom, seeing Lola’ scared eyes. JJ knew what the teenager needed.
Kneeling down, JJ placed her hands on Lola’s cheeks, looking into her misty eyes. The blonde tried her best to ignore just how much blood Lola was losing.
“Stay awake, Lola.” JJ chanted when she saw how Lola’s eyes began to slowly flutter closed. “Look at me. Stay awake.” JJ felt Lola grip her arm, blood smearing on her pale skin. There wasn’t much more they could do than internally pray that Lola was going to be okay.
Aaron had bandaged her arm and was keeping pressure on it. David had finished talking to the operator and now all they had to wait. It was the longest 10 minutes of her life. The longest 10 minutes of all their lives.
JJ’s eyes widened when Lola’s eyes closed completely. She lightly slapped her cheeks, chanting over and over again that she had to stay awake.
“No, no, no.” Her heart picked up speed for the thousandth time that night. “Lola. Lola. Lola. Open your eyes. Lola.” JJ teared up, she had never felt so hopeless and useless in her life. “Look at me.” The teenager suddenly opened her eyes, and JJ nodded in encouragement, never stopped looking into her eyes.
Lola’s vision was blurry when she opened her eyes. Her head was pounding and her ears were ringing. It took a while for her to realize who was in front of her. Her eyes finally focused after a while, seeing JJ looking at her with tears in her eyes. She felt the blonde’s hands on her cheeks, caressing lovingly, but Lola also felt how much they were trembling. Using all the little strength she had left, Lola weakly grabbed JJ’s hand, wanting her soft skin to be the last thing she felt, instead of her own blood, before she died.
A few beats and everything went black.
Now, as Emily sat in the hospital with the entire team there, no one speaking, she could not shake the thoughts of having to prepare to come home without her daughter. Having to tell Jack that his little sister had killed herself. She wouldn’t ever survive that. None of them would.
Emily closed her eyes, trying to get the thoughts to go away. She exhaled, gently squeezing JJ’s hand. The blonde hadn’t left Emily’s side since they arrived at the hospital.
Sitting in the waiting room was almost, selfishly, as bad as seeing her daughter on the floor. All the quiet, all the time to think about how long her daughter had been doing this. Emily didn’t miss the faint scars on her arms from what seemed like months prior to this. She didn’t know how they had missed it. Didn’t understand how Lola was in so much pain and they hadn’t seen it.
Emily felt a gentle squeeze back, but this time, it meant something more than comfort. Emily looked up, seeing a doctor walking towards her. She held her breath, putting her free hand where JJ and her were already holding hands, looking at the doctor with expectant eyes.
“Emily, is it?” Emily nodded, seeing Aaron come back from the bathroom. He hurried to Emily’s side when he saw the doctor. “We’ve moved your daughter to a ward.” The woman started. Aaron sat down next to his wife, Emily placing her head on his shoulder as they listened to the doctor, her hands still holding JJ’s tightly. “She’s just come out of surgery. She’ll need to be reviewed by psychiatry tomorrow morning.”
“Is she going to be okay, then?” Aaron asked, his voice hoarse and exhausted. Emily felt the way he sounded.
“We’ll know more tomorrow.” The doctor gave a comforting smile. “Do you want to see her?” Emily and Aaron both immediately nodded. Emily turned to JJ, giving her a small smile before she let go of her hand, feeling a small bit of emptiness at the loss of contact. Aaron placed his arm around Emily’s waist, both of them slightly shaking with nervousness as they followed the doctor down door after door.
Tears burned in Emily’s time again when she saw her daughter on the hospital bed. Seeing Lola so small and vulnerable, with a bandage covering her arm, made Emily quietly gasp. She was afraid she would never stop crying.
Aaron didn’t know what to feel. He didn’t know what to do. He was mad at himself for not noticing just how much his own daughter was suffering. He was sad for not noticing how much his own daughter was suffering. At the same time, he felt numb. The feeling of his daughter’s blood in his hands made him feel so many overwhelming feelings, but he felt numb at the same time.
Two chairs were placed next to the bed and the parents hesitantly sat down, looking at their daughter who was asleep. Emily grabbed her hand, caressing it and saw how many scars Lola had on her arms. Emily quietly whimpered and felt Aaron take Lola’s hand as well. She looked at him. The love of her life, and saw how much he was hurting too. She placed her free hand on his cheek, caressing it as a tear rolled down his cheek. Her thumb delicately brushed it away. She wanted to say something. But she didn’t know what. What are you supposed to say when your daughter slits her wrists?
“She’ll be okay.” Emily ended up saying. She wanted to take it back the second she began the sentence. Aaron said nothing, he just looked down at their hands. “Aaron, honey? Are you listening to me?” Her voice was gentle. “She’s going to be okay.” She didn’t know why she said it again. Aaron nodded, a slight, obviously unsure nod. “Honey… look at me.” He did and when he raised his head, Emily saw how much Aaron wanted to cry. Let it out. Emily prayed that he wouldn’t keep this in until he eventually broke.
Aaron stared at what could’ve been Emily’s face, but she was too good of a profiler to see that his eyes were resting at a spot just past her ear. Silence for a moment and Emily was afraid that she was going to have to beg him to talk.
“…I should have noticed.” The words came so unexpectedly that Emily barely registered what he said. She blinked.
“Aaron…” Emily cooed
“We’re profilers.” He scoffed, his shiny gaze slipping back to their hands. “We’re parents. I missed it.”
“We all did.” Emily spoke. It was true. It was most likely hopeful ignorance, denial. They had all noticed that something was off but they hadn’t given her more than invitations to talk. Aaron, at least, didn’t want to believe that it was anything too serious. He didn’t like to think of his children in pain, and he’d prefer to manipulate himself than to try and fix it. The guilt made him feel nauseous.
“I thought that after Reid, I would notice things like this. Notice if people weren’t okay and be able to keep a close eye on things.”
“She hid it well.” Emily spoke, voice unsure. The words were for her own benefit as well.
“Did she?” Aaron asked, his voice cracking in the slightest way as he looked up at his wife, seeing her hesitant facial expression. Emily didn’t know what to say, so she swallowed the thick feeling in her throat, looking at her daughter again.
Hours went by and the parents fell asleep. Emily was still holding her daughter’s hand, leaning her head on her husband’s shoulder. Aaron kept a hand around her as he leaned his head on hers.
Lola heard soft snores coming from somewhere. It took a moment for her eyes to relax at the harsh light that shone from the ceiling. She swallowed, her throat dry and sore. As soon as she noticed her parents, she felt claustrophobic in her body. She couldn’t quite move. She could wiggle her toes slightly and after a beat, she recognized her mother’s hand in her own. Mustering up strength, she squeezed slightly. The way her mother immediately woke up made Lola feel guilty.
“…Hi, baby.” Emily smiled, leaning closer to kiss Lola’s hand. Aaron also woke up when he heard Emily’s voice, looking at his daughter with so much sadness.
Lola looked at her parents for a moment before she turned her head as much as she could the other way, her feelings and memories catching up to her and she began to cry. Her face contorted into the most heartbreaking frown that made Emily’s heart hurt. She leaned closer, cooing.
“Hey…” She whispered, squeezing Lola’s hand tighter. “Hey, honey.” When Lola began quietly sobbing, Emily hushed her. Aaron placed his hand over Emily’s.
“I’m so sorry.” Lola whimpered, her chest hurting at all her family’s faces. The way JJ looked at her before she had passed out made its way to her mind.
“No, Lola. Don’t apologize.” Aaron spoke, voice gentle as he too, leaned closer.
“I’m so sorry.” Lola continued, feeling so utterly humiliated and embarrassed. She felt guilty for scaring everyone, and she did it all for nothing. It didn’t even work. She was still here. Still alive and with even more feelings of sadness.
“Sweetheart, listen to me.” Emily spoke. Lola turned her head, looking at her parents who seemed to do everything not to break down. “You have nothing to be sorry for. It is not your fault that you’re hurting, okay?” Lola still felt guilty, but she nodded, not wanting her parents to worry anymore. Although, she doubted they would ever stop worrying. They would never trust her to be alone again. She closed her eyes, wanting the ground to just swallow her whole. “We are here for you. Me, your dad, the entire team too. We love you so much, baby.” Lola swallowed her sobs, wanting to ask a question.
“Are you mad at me?” She whispered, her voice trembling. “Is the team mad at me?”
“No, no, no.” Emily shook her head, the concerned frown on her face that she so often had.
“No one is mad at you.” Aaron spoke. “No one. We’re worried, honey. We all love you and we care about you.”
“I’m sorry.” Lola spoke, she couldn’t ever apologize enough for hurting everyone like she did. Emily shook her head, her eyes soft.
“You have nothing to be sorry for.”

bau team one shot
𝓲𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓮 - first glance
𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 -  none
𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - melody is the daughter of fbi's bau unit chief aaron hotchner, and this is when she first meets the rest of his team but most importantly, the youngest member of the team, the resident genius.
𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - i've already written this before as an austin butler one-shot and shane filan and decided to do another one for the bau team but with spencer specifically.
masterlist
- - -
melody hotchner couldn't take her eyes off him. she wasn't supposed to even be with her dad at the unit's headquarter's today, ssa derek morgan knew that but, derek just couldn't let his boss' daughter go any longer without meeting the lovely resident genius that was the exact same age as his unit chief's daughter and was the one that derek wanted melody to meet because he just "knew" that they belonged together and just looked as though they'd be the perfect couple.
melody and the bau, who the rest of them she didn't know, only knowing david rossi and derek morgan, had yet to meet because both the team and melody were always busy, go figure, whenever anyone, whether it was derek, david or even aaron himself tried to get the rest of his team and young girl to meet. it wasn't because the team and melody didn't want to meet, of course they did, they were just always having clashes with cases and melody's college classes that got in the way of them meeting, until this very day that melody wasn't at college and derek forcefully grabbed melody from her spot on the couch in her father's office. losing his mind, that all of the bau weren't doing anything special but paperwork but most importantly, spencer, would finally be in the office the same day that melody was as he urged for the girl who he called "little hotch" to meet who derek called "pretty boy". oh, and it's also worth mentioning that the entire bau team had made a bet as to who in the team out of aaron, derek and david would get melody to be introduced to spencer and the rest of the team and win $50 from the other two who lost the bet and, derek did. which, of course, made him happy, because it also gave him some bragging rights if the two, melody and spencer, did ever start dating. so, he was even more happier, derek, when melody didn't argue with being semi-forcefully grabbed by her wrist and humiliatingly pulled through the bau unit's floor until the two were meters from the pretty boy himself.
"...derek, what on earth are you doing? i'm not supposed to leave my dad's off--"
"--morgan, hey, didn't realise you were still working on your paperwork today...''
"reid...umm, i...i, there's someone that i want for you to meet. i...i'm aware this is bad timing since you're supposed to be finishing up paperwork but, umm, this is hotch's daughter, melody. i know that hotch, rossi and i, even, have been trying to get the rest of the team to meet melody but, since you two especially always seemed to have clashes in your schedules that meant that whenever melody was here, you were either at home or still finishing up a case but, now, everyone's finally all here at the same time. so...once again, this...this is melody hotchner, spencer!" derek shouldn't have looked so excited that he had won $50 and bragging rights but, he did and it was sort of embarrassing for both melody and spencer but, it was still funny
melody shyly stepped out from behind derek and spencer couldn't help the way he just stared at her in amazing. this was his unit chief's daughter? the melody hotchner? he couldn't believe that he was finally meeting the girl that was always talked about by hotch, rossi and morgan. it was completely silent between the two before spencer shyly spoke up with a small smile on his lips.
"...hi...hello...hi...mel...melody, i..i'm spencer but you-you probably already knew that..." spencer nervously giggled as he tried to keep his hands from sweating considering he was moments from going back in to write the rest of the reports he had to write up
"...hey spencer, yes i am melody and yes, i do know already that your name is spencer *giggles*. it's so very nice to finally meet you after always either just missing you completely or you just not being in here at the same time or one of us coming in whilst the other one was leaving. i've truly heard so many good things about you and the rest of your team so, i full trust that my dad made an amazing decision by keeping you guys as his team..." melody smiled brightly as spencer felt his cheeks go red and his heart rate get quicker when derek took that as his cue to just straight up leave
"...thanks, melody. i know i shouldn't but, speaking for myself and the rest of the team, we are beyond grateful that we were given this chance to be under your father's wonderful supervision and guidance,"spencer smiled as he slowly got more confident throughout the conversation, melody too smiled
the longer the two talked, the more comfortable they both became with one another. the rest of the team and hotch walked in to the bullpen to see the one thing they had all wished for (well, hotch and ross that is), they couldn't hide their pride and smiles for derek for getting it to finally happen. hotch chuckled quietly as he watched with his arms crossed at his daughter and the doctor, who former senior supervisory special agent jason gideon personally vetted to have reid join the team at the young age of twenty-two. as the two started talking and asking each other questions as if the both of them hadn't already been fed information about each other before this moment.
the two giggled and smiled as they continued to find out more interesting stuff about one another as if spencer wasn't supposed to be returning back to his paperwork for the case they finished two days ago. time was just non-existant when they were together, they could talk for hours upon hours and not realise that they had been talking to each other for hours until checking the time on the clock or having to be jokingly told off by hotch or morgan that spencer was meant to be finishing his paperwork, not blabbering and wasting time but, because it was aaron's daughter and spencer, they'd let it slide.
by the time the bau team had finished all the paperwork and another ten months of cases, it was obvious that spencer and melody had grown closer and could be very well labelled as a romantic couple. for ages, it was rumoured for a few months that they were dating but, it wasn't until a very specific case that caused spencer to be kidnapped and drugged and the way they saw how melody reacted when she saw spencer in the hospital for the first time, it became obvious to everyone and the two decided "fuck it" and announced it to the rest of their team, excluding hotch who obviously already knew and never even needed convincing to approve, that they were dating and were finally ready to label their relationship as a romantic one and not a platonic one.
and it was all because of that first glance they had... and derek morgan too.

Hi! Kind of like the other one with the SH, but would you write about jj’s daughter having a pregnancy scare and going to Emily (not knowing about her past, just knowing she trusts her and not wanting to talk to her mom bc she’s scared) and Emily goes with her to tell JJ?
Pregnancy Scare
Tumblr media
pairing: jennifer jareau x daughter reader
category: fluff
warnings: none
word count: 965
age: 16
summary: you lost your virginity a month ago and are showing pregnancy symptoms so you go to emily before your mom
a/n: i wasn't sure if you wanted r to actually be pregnant or not but i hope you like it! if i got it wrong please send in another request!
I had lost my virginity a month ago and my mom didn't know. I wanted to tell her since the past couple days I had been getting nauseous and i had missed my period by a couple days. But the problem was that I didn't know how to tell her. She would be mad, wouldn't she? She was a single mom who had me when she was twenty. She wouldn't want to help raise another baby when her first one wasn't even out of high school.
She was taking me in to work with her today. It was a paperwork day and she thought it would be good for me to take a break from school which I greatly appreciated. "Y/n?" My mom's voice snapped me out of my thoughts as we rode up the elevator.
"Yeah?"
"You ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine." I stepped out of the elevator and immediately walked towards Emily.
"Hey little Jareau!" She said with a big smile. I ignored her greeting and got straight to the point.
"I need to talk to you." I dragged her into her office and locked the door behind us.
"Woah. What's going on?" Her eyes filled with concern.
"I had sex a month ago and now my period is a few days late and I've been getting nauseous and I'm scared I'm pregnant and I don't know how to tell my mom can you please help me?" It came out so fast I didn't even realize I had said it.
"Ok. Slow down." She leaned against her desk and calmed down a bit. "So you're scared you might be pregnant?" I nodded in confirmation. "And you don't know how to tell your mom?" I nodded again. "Do you want to tell her?" Another nod.
"I just...I'm scared she'll be mad at me-"
"She'll be even more mad if you don't tell her." She pointed out. "I can go with you to tell her but you need to tell her, ok? She's your mom, she can help you through this. Now let's go."
"Right now?"
"Well it's a bit time sensitive."
"But I-"
"You need to tell your mom and its clear that you need me there to tell her. Who knows when that will be, and if you are pregnant she's gonna know sooner or later." She pointed out. "I mean she's not stupid, she's gonna notice your belly getting fatter."
"Ok...ok fine."
"Let's go." She opened her door and followed me as I walked to my mom's desk."
"Hey...what's up?" My moms brows furrowed when she saw the look on my face.
"I need to tell you something...can we go somewhere private?" My mom nodded and we walked up to her old office when she was a media liaison.
"What's going on honey?"
"I um...I had sex." I blurted. Her brows furrowed and she looked confused. Before she could ask a million questions I continued. "And I'm really scared I might be pregnant."
"Oh...oh honey." My mom's voice softened.
"You're not mad?"
"No. I'm not mad." She assured me, taking a hold of my hands. "I'm not mad sweetheart." My head was spinning. How was she not mad. "Have you taken a test?" I shook my head so she nodded to Emily, signaling my for her to go get some.
"I...how are you not screaming at me right now?"
"Because I know how it feels to be young and scared like that. I'll ask the questions later, but I'm not mad and let's just see what's going on, ok? If you are pregnant we'll figure something out." She kissed my forehead.
"We will?"
"Of course we will.":
20 minutes later Emily arrived back at the BAU with a CVS bag. My mom led me down to the bathroom and locked the door behind us, giving us full privacy. "Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm scared."
"I know you are honey." She handed me one of the tests and I just stared at it. "You pee on it baby."
"I know...I just..."
"You're not sure if you want to know the results?" I nodded and looked up at her with teary eyes. "Look. If its positive and you want to keep the baby. You will be an amazing mother and me and my team will support you every step of the way, ok? And if it's negative-"
"I go back to life as I know it?"
"Yup. Now pee." I sighed and sat down on the toilet, peeing on two sticks. I stared at the wall, not being able to bring myself to look at the results. "What's wrong?"
"I...I can't look at it.
"Want me to do it?"
"It's covered in pee."
"Sweetheart. I gave birth to you when you were covered in blood. I changed your diaper when it was filled with shit and piss. I'll be fine." I frowned and handed her the two tests.
"Just tell me...get it over with." I held my head in my hands as I waited for her to tell me the results.
"They're both negative." A wave of relief washed over me and my head snapped up to meet her gaze.
"They're both negative?"
"They're both negative." She repeated. I jumped up and quickly pulled my pants up before hugging her tightly. "Oh honey." She kissed my temple.
"Thank you...for being here with me."
"Of course. We can talk about the rest later, ok?" She rubbed my back and tossed the tests into the trash. "Do you wanna go home?"
"No...no I wanna stay here with you." She nodded.
"Want to stay up in my old office? It'll be nice and quiet up there." I nodded and leaned my head against her chest.
"I love you." I whispered to her. "I love you mom. I love you so much." I teared up and wrapped my arms tightly around her waist.
"I love you too honey. More than you could ever know."

I'd Better Ask Emily
Request from anon: Hear me out😅 Spencer Reid x daughter!reader where the reader is a lesbian but is to scared to tell Spencer and Spencer someone find out by accidentally reading her diary or something?
Spencer Reid x daughter!reader
Summary: When Spencer goes looking for your school notebook and accidentally reads your diary instead he goes to the BAU bisexual badass for help.
A/N: I really wanted to do this justice so there's angst and fluff and bisexual Emily Prentiss because she had more chemistry with women than any male love interest. I’m also a sucker for Reid and Prentiss friendship so there is a good chunk of it in here.
CW: reader is gay, Emily is bi, let’s be honest everyone on the team is a little fruity, suggestions that Emily wasn’t supported, coming out of the closet, reader goes to social justice march.
---
“And my math homework is on the table for you to check over!” It was a Friday morning and you were in a rush to get out the door. There was a social justice march beginning at the national mall in half an hour and your AP government teacher had convinced the principal to cancel classes so every student could participate. Plus you were getting extra credit.
“What about your reading summaries?” Your dad asked you. Spencer always proof-read your graded assignments, per your request. It helped to have his genius input, though sometimes you wondered if he went easy on you. Since you were a child, you’d never made a craft or drew a picture or wrote something that your dad didn’t love.
“In my notebook on my desk,” you said hastily. “Bye, love you!”
“Love you too. Don’t get-” The door slammed shut. Spencer sighed. “Arrested.”
He made his way to your room. For the most part you were tidy, but your desk was a mess. Colored pens and highlighters, loose leaf paper with to-do lists, a stack of books that was falling over onto the jumbled surface. Spencer began to sift through the clutter, fixing the stack of books, putting your writing utensils in a pile, looking around for your notebook- but of course you hadn’t clarified which notebook. By the time he was done sorting through the mess there were five of them total. He began to read through them, trying to identify which one you wrote your reading summaries in.
It was down to the last two. Spencer grabbed the next one in the stack and opened to a random page:
I’ve never been one for poetry, but I find myself wanting to write verses on how her eyes crinkle when she laughs and the way her hips sway as she walks.
That sounded English-y and promising. Spencer kept reading.
I imagine her skin is soft, like velveteen, and her hair like expensive silk. The smell of her perfume is that of vanilla and honey; it reminds me of summer.
The sound of her voice is like a siren’s music. When she calls my name I can’t help but get up from my spot in the cafeteria and-
Wait.
There weren’t cafeterias in the book you were reading for school.
Spencer read the passage back again and again. He couldn’t help himself- he flipped to the front page to start from the beginning and finished reading the entirety of your diary in two minutes. There were entries spanning over two years, but one thing stuck out to Spencer more than anything else:
You talked about girls.
You talked liking girls.
Of course the diary contained passages on other things, like the day you visited your dream school and a cute dog you had met at the park… but you were dreaming of cute girls. And you never told him.
Spencer closed the diary and put it on your desk. His only thought: I’d better ask Emily about this.
---
Emily added a small amount of creamer to her coffee and went to sit down at her desk, highly regretting that she’d put her paperwork until the last minute again. The stack of files on her desk was beginning to rival Hotch’s, and that was not a competition she wanted to win. She sat down at her desk and opened up a file, pen in hand ready to go when-
“Um, hey Emily. Can I ask you something?”
If it was anyone but Spencer, she probably would have told them to ask her during the lunch break she wasn’t going to take, but there was a hesitancy in his voice that made her stop. Emily knew she looked like she might bite someone if they bothered her- Morgan had already gotten a taste of her mood that morning- but Spencer never seemed to notice when her annoyance rose to the surface. If he was uncomfortable it was because he had his own problem. He needed her help.
And she needed his speed reading to get through all the files on her desk.
“Morning, Reid,” she said, her annoyance turning to concern. “Is everything okay?”
“Well, I- uh- I kind of saw something I shouldn’t have this morning and I wanted to ask you about it.” He rubbed his neck nervously.
Emily tried to keep a straight face as she thought of every embarrassing teenage incident captured on video or sin-to-win photograph that could possibly be out there for Spencer to come across.
“What is it?” Emily asked, her voice wavering ever so slightly.
“You like women romantically, right?”
Okay… that didn’t rule out embarrassing adolescent mistakes or weekends in Atlantic City.
“Yes.”
“Because I accidentally read (Y/N)’s diary this morning and she writes a lot about being attracted to girls but she hasn’t told me yet and-”
“You read your daughter’s diary?!” Emily wasn’t sure if she was more shocked that Reid would do such a thing, or relieved that her privacy was still intact. “Reid-”
“It was an accident!” he said. “I was looking for her reading summaries for school and she told me it was in the notebook on her desk and then I just saw it…”
Emily hoped the devastation on Spencer’s face was for the right reasons.
“Why wouldn’t she tell me?”
Yeah… it was for the right reasons.
Emily sighed, leaning her elbows on her desk. “I’m sure that you demonstrate your open-mindedness at home-”
“I do.”
“And I’m sure you tell (Y/N) that you love her no matter what-”
“All the time.”
“But that doesn’t make it any less scary.”
Spencer didn’t respond.
“Coming out isn’t easy. No matter how sure you are that you will be accepted there’s always a little bit of doubt. There’s always the fear that it’ll change the fundamental way a person loves you and that you’ll never treat them the same.” Emily pushed away memories- memories filled with pain and relief and anxiety and frustration. The only thing that eased the thoughts were that she knew you wouldn’t have to go through what she did; not with Spencer as your dad. “She’s probably feeling really afraid, even if she doesn’t show it.”
“How can I make it better?”
Spencer’s genuine love for you- a love that every child should get to experience- made Emily feel as though she was falling apart and being put back together again all at the same time.
“Just let her know you love her,” Emily said. “A little goes a long way.”
---
As you walked up to the door of the apartment you felt like you were floating on cloud nine; for two years you had been crushing on this girl you shared classes with. You knew she was openly and unapologetically gay- making it a point to post pictures of herself on social media with pride flags and holding hands with her now ex-girlfriend. They had broken up about eight months ago and ever since then you’d hope that she would notice you. For three months the two of you had hung out in group settings- getting to know one another with other people there as a buffer- but you’d gathered your courage today to ask her out on a date. And she said yes.
“So I guess the march was good?”
You were so distracted from the events of the day you hadn’t even noticed your dad was home.
“Oh, yeah,” you said, startled. “It was good. Really good. Lots of… social justice and things.” You cursed yourself for not having a better answer. You should have been good at faking feelings and answers by now, having been raised by a profiler. Even then, Spencer always saw right through you.
The high you were on came crashing down- your dad always saw right through you. There was no way you could go on a date, let alone your first date, without him catching on. Discomfort grappled with your stomach and anxiety bubbled in your chest. You tried to reach for the courage you had earlier, but it was gone.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Your dad walked over and put a gentle hand on your arm.
“Uh-” You swallowed. “Yeah- yeah, I’m fine.”
Your dad suddenly looked weary. It was the same look when he told you he was going to miss your tenth birthday because of a case, or when he got a call that your grandmother’s medication wasn’t working as well as they had hoped.
“(Y/N),” he started. “I love you. I really hope you know that. And I’m glad you had a good day.”
“I love you too, dad,” you said, waiting for him to break bad news. But it didn’t come. He just gave you his awkward tight-lipped smile before tucking your hair behind your ear and turning away.
There was something about the gesture and the words that called the courage back to you. Well, some of the courage.
“I’m going on a date,” you blurted. Spencer turned back to you. You tried to look for clues on his face or in his body language that would tell you what he was thinking or feeling, but you were too caught up in your own head to make sense of any of it. “I asked someone out on a date and they said yes.”
Your father smiled wide. “That’s great, honey! Is it anyone I know?”
“Oh- um-” Spencer didn’t know many of your friends in person, but he knew them from what you told him, and what Garcia could dig up on them. “Yeah. They’re in some of my classes.”
You waited for your dad to call you out on the vagueness of your language, but he didn’t. He only continued to smile and encourage you to go on- is it a study date or a real date? Real date. Weekend or after school? Weekend. Are you taking the metro or do you want him to drive you? Actually it was a walkable distance.
The more you talked, the more excited you got. You were still careful to control your language, but the bravery was beginning to grow. You thought about taking a deep breath, but you didn’t. Instead you just said, “And she’s a girl.”
The world stilled for just a moment- your heart which was beating fast with excitement was now racing with panic. Your stomach was in knots and you felt your hands begin to shake. “I’m gay, dad.”
Spencer placed a gentle hand over yours, stopping it from quivering. The look in his eyes couldn’t be described as happy, but it wasn’t sad. No… it was peace. It was content.
“I know,” he said.
“You- you do?” The weight began to lift off your shoulders, but it was replaced by a bit of shock.
“Yes.” Spencer smiled. “Next time you should clarify which of your notebooks you wrote your assignments in.” Both of you chuckled, and you felt your body unwind as tension left your muscles. “And if it’s any consolation, I think your poetry is great.”
You smiled. “You always love everything I write.”
Your dad pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Because I love you.”
There was no more tension now- no more fear and no more doubt- just you and your dad being excited about your first big crush and your first big date. And it didn’t matter that it was with a girl. Spencer would always love you no matter what.
"So," he said. "What are you going to wear?"
You thought about the clothes you had, but none of your outfits seemed just right.
"I think I might go shopping for something new," you said.
Spencer smiled. You had a shopping buddy- the same one since you were little.
"So I guess I'd better ask Emily."

jj’s autistic daughter comes to work with her !
Tumblr media
jj grew confused, seeing the time and noticing the lack of her daughter.
“hey henry, is your sister up?” she asked the blonde boy, munching on his eggs.
“snoring,” he said, with his mouth full. jj couldn’t help but laugh then threw a confused glance to will. will shrugged.
“go check on her,” he suggested. jj nodded and jogged up the stairs. she could hear her daughters alarm going off and it wasn’t at all like her to have it going off 10 minutes later.
“hey honey,” jj whispered, pushing open her daughters bedroom door. y/n was sat up in bed, in some sort of daze. “hey,” jj muttered, going further into the room but when she noticed the sick by her bed her heart dropped. she grabbed her daughters hand, squeezing it softly and threw back the covers to reveal even more mess.
“can you hear me baby?” jj asked, she received a little squeeze on her hand and smiled. “would you like a shower?” she asked her, receiving another squeeze.
jj guided her daughter out of bed and into her en-suite bathroom, quickly turning the cold water on. she didn’t like warm showers.
“right, let’s get these off you.” jj said gently, beginning to remove her daughters clothes. the young girl whimpered, looking up at her mum for the first time that morning.
“sick,” she whispered, only managing the one word.
“you still feel sick?” jj asked but the young girl shook her head. she pointed to her bedroom. “you were sick yeah. we’re going to get you cleaned up, okay?” y/n nodded and lifted her arms for her mum.
after she was cleaned up, jj had texted emily, letting her know the situation. she had to head into the office today to grab some files but she didn’t plan on being all day - only a couple of hours. she knew she could take y/n with her. she didn’t have a temperature and she’d kept water down. she had her usual of yoghurt and oats with frozen fruit whilst her mum cleaned up her room. she still hadn’t said anything and jj didn’t expect her to. jj knew her senses were in overdrive, her body working over time to compensate for the sickness. she didn’t know how much she’d slept, she didn’t know when she’d been sick. her daughter couldn’t tell her and that made it hard.
“are you finished sweet?” jj asked, hovering over the bowl. y/n pushed her bowl away. “good girl. socks and shoes and then we’ll go see the team, is that okay?” y/n didn’t answer, just went to find her clothes. however, feeling far too tired, she handed them to her mum and sat down in the chair opposite, handing her her leg. jj couldn’t help but giggle.
“yes baby, i’ll help you,” she sniggered.
y/n clung to her mums hand as they stood in the elevator. she didn’t feel too bad anymore, she’d even cracked a smile for her mum in the car but she was still tired , having been up all night.
“there’s my two favourite girls!” emily cheered as the doors opened. jj smiled and did a shoulder shimmy and y/n wrapped her arms around emily’s waist.
“your mama told me you’re not very well,” emily pouted, moving some hair from the girls head. y/n shook her head gently, “sick.”
“she’s doing better now.” jj reassured spencer who looked on nervously.
“that’s good!” emily smiled.
just then they heard the squeal of garcia from behind them.
“my cupcake!” she giggled, opening her arms for y/n. y/n gasped a little and walked to garcia, letting the older woman pick her and up and sit her on her hip.
“hi my little love!” garcia mumbled, tickling her belly.
“hi,” y/n replied, sighing and putting her head on garcia’s shoulder. garcia held the young girl in her arms whilst the team chatted. she was content in her aunties arms but looking over at her mama, that’s who she really wanted. slowly, she began to wiggle and garcia let her down so her feet were on the floor. jj had sat down at her desk, preparing to do her work and y/n scrambled into her lap.
“hello my love,” jj whispered, kissing y/n’s head softly. y/n reached over her mums desk and opened her things drawer. she took out the rubix cube before snuggling into a ball in her mums knee. her head was in the crook of jj’s neck and her back to the team. in her hands, she fiddled with the cube of many colours and sighed softly.
“mama ears,” y/n sighed gently, hearing the bustling morning in the bullpen was a lot.
jj chuckled at her daughters little request before grabbing the girls pink headphones. she turned them on and slid them comfortably on her daughters head before y/n settled back into her arms.
she didn’t need any music, just some white noise to drown out the voices and footsteps and breathing around her.
it wasn’t long before the young girl was fast asleep in jj’s lap. she gripped her mama’s top and let her thumb hang from her mouth as jj worked on her files. emily came over with a soft, grey blanket from her office which she wrapped around y/n. it was a sweet sight. the bundle of y/h/c lying against jj’s chest and the little hands and feet were too cute.
the team loved their little girl. being the only girl out of the new gen of profilers, she was treated super special and with her needs she was treated even better.
