Now, what makes me really happy about Josh Stewart (and presumably Emma Fitzpatrick too but who knows) making come back for the collected is that it makes Arkin and Elena's chances of getting Alex Browning treatmemt (unceremonious off screen death to introduce potential new main character) much slimer, it was essentially one of my biggest concerns for what If third movie got picked up again that we'd get plot that opens with "oh these guys? That pulled thought all that? Yea look at this piece of newspaper or w/e, they were found brutally murdered!!!" or basically what would be another hostel 2 intro which yea,,, no fun,,, both these characters don't deserve that imo and even if they were to die, off screen death or something as lame as stab in the back after ALL THAT (Paz from second movie you will always be famous...at least on this blog) just feels off

- in 2015 Meghan to become some sort of ambassador for ireland (lol this was so weird but this started right around the time she got with Fitzpatrick. Her agent really milked this one. It's around this time she did the interview with Craig Ferguson)

- in 2019/2020 Meghan to enter politics, run for president. This one was strong in 2020/21 but I think she has now lost interest.

- in 2014/2015 Meghan to host a travel and food show. She really tried hard for this one back in her TiG days and gave the impression that she had this. In reality she may have been coopting Cory's life.

- in 2019/2020 meghan to become ambassador/patron of US open. PR also suggested Meghan now might get Wimbledon from Catherine because Serena was her best friend.

PS: the things I've mentioned have all, at some point, been mentioned in articles, not just online rumours.

There was also the PR that they were going to get York Cottage AND Adelaide Cottage as wedding presents.

After Elenore picks up a summer gig as a hostess at a fancy restaurant, she can’t stop talking about this waiter she met there. Will, who always waits up for her in the living room when she works late nights, hears all about it. She heats up orange chicken and white rice and talks a mile a minute – par for the course with Elenore.

“His name is Joe, which honestly, I thought I would hate, but it’s grown on me,” she says in between sips of Coca-Cola. “He’s a year younger than me, just finished eleventh grade.”

“Did he finish it like I did?” Will asks.

“With a high GPA or with a baby?”

“Either.”

“He’s a childless A student.”

“That’s what every former teenage father wants to hear.”

Elenore laughs, and Will beams. So much of Elenore is just a carbon copy of Lucy – Lucy’s hair, Lucy’s eyes, Lucy’s voice, Lucy’s laugh. He doesn’t know what he did to get so much of it, but he knows even Desi Arnaz couldn’t handle this much Lucy.

“He’s a funny flirt, too,” Elenore says.

“Is he?” Will asks.

“Yes. Though I don’t know why I’m telling you this. I should call Sam and see if he’s awake. Better yet, where’s Mom?”

“Mom’s asleep. She spent all day wrestling with a table of contents for that collection she’s putting together with Mariam, and she finally surrendered.”

Elenore frowns, and Will has to keep himself from beaming at that, too. From the day she was born, Elenore has frowned exactly like him. He has to treasure those parts, too. The rare moments where it’s just about them, where she loves him like her friend and her dad all the same. He remembers writing that in his journals – the ones he kept the first three years of raising her. Elenore is my friend, he wrote when she was about two. She is my daughter and my friend. It’s times like these when she remembers it, too.

“Well, if you really want to hear …” she starts.

“I do,” Will says. “Honey, I love it when you share your life with me. And if I was one of those shotgun dads, I’d be the world’s biggest hypocrite.”

Elenore nods. She taps her fork against her plate and looks toward the ceiling.

“Well, I was holding the door open for some guests as they were coming in,” she says, “and Joe was coming in for his shift, right behind them, so I held the door open for him, too. He looked at me and said, ‘You’re such a gentleman.’ I know it’s not that funny, but … I don’t know, he was trying. You have to love that he’s trying.”

Will nods. He agrees, mostly because it’s nice to see Elenore believe in romance again. When she was little, she couldn’t wait to fall in love, just like Mom and Daddy. She would make forks and spoons kiss at the dinner table. When Sean Fitzpatrick broke her heart on the night after their junior prom last year, Will was afraid she’d never believe in love and pink candy hearts again. But seeing her like this … with her eyes lit up by a boy who tries when he looks her way … it’s more than he can ask for and more than he can describe.

“You gonna ask him out?” Will asks.

“Daddy!”

“What? If your mom were awake right now, she’d say the same thing. Girls in 2002 don’t wait around for boys to ask them out. They take the reins. They do what they want.”

“Yeah, but …”

“Nah, no but. If your mom were awake right now, and she said all that, you’d think it was inspirational. You’d be calling him up right now.”

Elenore sighs. Will can see her putting it together. That she’s been pulling away from him for reasons even she doesn’t understand. He knows he’s been a good father – it’s why Elenore and Emma both still call him Daddy – but that happens with kids when they’re not kids anymore. They try to find their footing.

Maybe, tonight, Elenore knows her footing is right here, in this apartment, with her family. With her dad.

“OK,” she says. “So, if Mom had ever asked you out instead of … whatever happened between the two of you … what would you have preferred?”

Will thinks about it for a little longer than he needs to. Just trying to make the most of this with Elenore. She may not be moving away when she starts college in September, but it won’t be the same. Gotta grab it while you can. Gotta grab it while it lasts.

We have had such a busy week here at the Pond! Okay, it was mostly today. For some of you in certain time zones, it was ALL today. We hope you got a nap in. We didn't. 🤣

Old Business:

We had our first SPN Rewatch: FanFic Edition chat! And it was fantastic! We chatted for over two hours, guys! And the best news is for people who couldn't make it but still want to participate. We're working on a Google Drive folder full of docs with notes from these chats. Our goal is that everyone can add notes to each doc (as suggestions that the admins will accept to prevent anyone from accidentally deleting someone else's contribution), not just the admins or those who can be at the chats. Writing Sprint winner! After the rewatch chat, Manta Ray Dean hosted a writing sprint, and @glygriffe wrote the most words! Altogether, the participants wrote almost 1000 words in 20 minutes!!
