Best Dreamling Tropes

the other lists I saw for this on discord were just fic tropes that got used in dreamling fics. This list is ones that are SPECIFIC to dreamling and that most of us made up out of whole cloth and agreed upon.

1.) Fishbowl rescue - very important (The tag Hob Gadling Saves Dream of the Endless from Roderick Burgess has its own tag, as it should.)

2.) Let’s rewrite Season 1! (always a classic)

3.) In fact, let’s rewrite the whole fucking arc, solving problems as we go.

... Look After You ...

As proud of Austin as you were for how hard he’d worked, Elvis wrapping felt like being able to exhale again.

Until he ended up in the hospital.

The only time you left his side was when Baz practically shoved you out the door to go home and shower, and even that had been a hard sell. Austin was fine, he was going to be fine. But no matter how many times people told you as much, seeing him so worn out and hooked up to IVs made your chest tight.

When he did get the go ahead to go home you driving was non-negotiable, his insistence that he was capable of getting behind the wheel getting him nowhere.

You felt a little bad for babying him, and told him so as you walked up his driveway. But Austin only shook his head, grabbing you gently by the arm, massaging your wrist with his thumb.

"‘s nice to be looked out for, really."

And look out for him you did. There were phone calls, press requests, and an endless list of "now that filming is done" to-dos to be handled. All things you could sense he felt bad about delaying any more than he already had with what being in the hospital. But he didn't put up a fight when you asked for his phone and turned it off only a few minutes after you walked through his front door, sticking it on your backpocket.

"Nothing is so important that it can't wait till you've slept in your own bed for one night."

If he disagreed he didn't say so, toing off his shoes as you kept talking. "But is there anything you wanted to do that doesn't involve all that?"

"Mm, skydiving, bungee jumping," He started and you rolled your eyes, turning to plop down on the couch. Austin joined you, sitting sideways and resting his head against the sofa arm.

"You were the one in the hospital all week, movie choice is yours."

You passed him the remote and knew what he was looking for on Netflix when he typed the first letter of the title, giving you a little side smile.

Turning and scooting over to lay back against his chest, you tilted your head to look up at him.

"You sure you wanna watch something that's gonna make you cry?" You asked softly and he just kept typing The Notebook into the Netflix search bar, only pausing to kiss the top of your head.

"I’m alright baby." He assured you, and found what he was looking for when you didn’t protest further.

You turned over onto your stomach about an hour into the movie, one hand of Austin's sliding up the back of your shirt as he combed the other lazily through your hair.

His gentle touch, combined with the rise and fall of his chest against yours, was so comforting that it put a lump in your throat.

The two of you had survived the whirlwind that was the past three years of Elvis mania, he'd managed to leave the hospital in one piece. And Austin was right back where he belonged- holding you on his couch, sniffling over The Notebook.

You wouldn't have it any other way.

favorite louis lyrics: that’s actually an impossible task because there’s WAY too many! but “there’s endless versions of the thing that keeps me drifting back to darkness” hits home in a way that i can’t explain in words

louis life lesson: it always remains the same; picking yourself back up after facing hardships, seeing the possibilities and positives in a difficult situation; basically strength & resilience

favorite louis outfit: oh that’s unfair, my little fashionista kills it 99% of the time so i have a list of favorite 50 outfits from 2023 but for the purpose of this game we’ll narrow it down to three (and it’s not even top three just three that i loved)

favorite tour show: there were so many good ones this year (Phoenix, Austin, Houston, LA, Philly, New York, Bologna, Paris, Antwerp, Vienna, Łódź, Sheffield, Cardiff, London) but the way that I felt physically ill after fitfwt: Columbus might need to be studied for science; the whiplash from the stark difference of him during the show and him post show was entirely TOO MUCH

favorite public appearance: has to be the RS Awards; the slutty custom-made fit, the main character energy throughout, the confidence, the glow, the ever present eloquence with which he spoke about his work and his successful af year, just him him him <3

favorite AOTV scene: once again there’s so many; that scene where louis’ recording Saturdays and we get some insight into his thinking and his process, the montage of louis with band and crew having an absolute blast while All This Time plays in the background, that one scene where JD is helping him put his hoodie on after he broke his elbow 👀 the last few minutes of the movie where we hear him say the words “i do feel like i deserve this” 🫶🏽🥹 and so so many more actually

favorite band or crew member: favorite three :p are Krystle, Steve & Joshua! special shout out to Joshua for going above and beyond this year honestly! that man carried lthq on his back!

favorite picture: another unfair question but i won’t cheat and post one of my absolute most favorites from this year because it’s like the energy of his shows captured in one moment (i found out on twitter that the hand in his hair belongs to a desi louie which was like the cherry on top)

something that you are looking forward to in 2024: the fitfwt latam shows!!! there is nothing else like the energy the latam crowds bring, which in turn brings out the absolute best (and most unhinged) in louis and his band too, so definitely looking forward to that! and the festivals!!! can’t wait to see him shine in front of the world <3 hope against hope to be a part of it if things work out 🤞🏽🕯️

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

The 20s because it’s so soon, but mostly the 50s-70s. 

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

Very very hard to choose but these two hairs have to be at the top of my list

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

Edmund! you wouldn’t think so bc I’m putting him through a lot rn but I truly adore him and I’m excited for what’s to come in his future 🤞🏽🤞🏽... Rosalyn is a very close second

4. What is your favorite world?

Windenburg at the moment.. so many lots ❤❤ Even though she’s irritating me bc I’ve been stuck there so long I can’t wait to get out Otherwise, I’d choose San Myshuno or Brindleton Bay.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

Once upon a time it was both but recently I haven’t had much time to play :(( so story driven it is

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

Yes and no. They’re cute but forgettable. This gen was actually supposed to have three dogs bc they had the vibe of a three dog family, but it felt like a hastle with how many babies they keep birthing

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

The constant phones, checking on toddlers/infants, and the endless townies i have to delete -- although I’m sure there are mods out there 

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

From the frames to the paintings I love em all

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

Not too historic but bands. Playable saxaphones, flutes, drums I need it

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Idk what I’d do without Cottage Living or Get Together/Cats and Dogs (for the worlds)

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

No fireplace fires!! bc the 1890s was hell omflgjf The timeless mod is also mwah

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

However many members the story insists :’)) I really enjoyed gen 1 with only 5 family members. I was forced to play with 9 up until the lung came around - which is the biggest it will ever be bc never again

Heinously.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

Yess, a few for homework, brooms, vaccums, books (my fav), mops etc etc

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

Never.

16. What lifespan do you play on?

Long with a few fixes. 

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

My sister and I were talking about how much we wanted a good black period drama and that led into us into talking about the lack of black history shows/series set before the 80s. I was also watching some older movies at the time while going through one of my sims phases, leading me to historical cc, simblr, and thus the decades challenge. it’s now consumed a year of my life 👩🏽‍💻

Event-Canon: How it works

Event-Canon is a very simple Headcanon-based event! I thought it would be perfect for my first one. Basically, I have created a list of prompts (I'm sure there are lists similar to mine, but I have not found them) that correspond to a headcanon. Most of them are optional, but there are some that I will do with every request. Just submit a request to my Ask Box asking for a character (Limit is 2 per ask, ask limit is endless) asking for the character, any add-on headcanons and please put in there that this is from the event!

The characters that will be used for this event can be found in my Whitelist + Blacklist!

list of books I would like to be made as animated series or animated movies as long as this is 100% based on novels. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. I think Don Bluth's style would fits to the novels. My favorite novel is The Magician's Nephew, I love Polly and Digory's friendship. I'm really enjoyed reading this one. I'd love to re-read this one soon. Also I'm finished all the audiobooks last year. Also my fav is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair. I love the movies too but it's a bit not different from novels. All the novels tho I'm not sure about the order- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe  Prince Caspian The Voyage of the Dawn Treader The Silver Chair The Horse and His Boy The Magician's Nephew The Last Battle

The Lost World is a science fiction novel by British writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I love this novel a lot. I'm listened the audiobook. I'm not sure I can describe the plot, I guess I need to refresh my memories. There's a lot of movie adaptations but all of them is really not close to original. But it's only my opinion, so no offence. Don Bluth's style would be great! Dune by Frank Herbert. I'd Love Don Bluth's style or by Man of Action studios's style. Ooh, it would be great. I finished reading first book last year and now I'm started audiobook of Dune Messiah, I'm think this is gonna be my favorite. Also going to listen the audiobook Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune. All the novels - Dune Dune Messiah Children of Dune God Emperor of Dune Heretics of Dune Chapterhouse: Dune Novels by Frank Herbert's son Brian Herbert and by Kevin James Anderson. Hunters of Dune  Sandworms of Dune

The Mystery Queen by Fergus Hume. I love this novel and I'd love to re-read it. I found somewhere book online if you want too. Hearts of Three is an adventure novel by Jack London. Not sure what style would fits this one but it would be interesting adventure.

The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins.

That's a really good detective novel.

I'd love to see 2D or even a bit mix of 2D and 3D animated series or animated movies based on "A Wrinkle in Time", "A Wind in the Door", "A Swiftly Tilting Planet", "Many Waters", "An Acceptable Time", "The Arm of the Starfish", "Dragons in the Waters", "Troubling a Star", "A Ring of Endless Light" By Madeleine L'engle. I'm re-reading A Wrinkle in Time a lot and this book always in my bag and I'm reading A Wind in the door this year and it was a mind blowing. Sad that I can't read all of them.
