I don't know, there's just something about Ludinus destructively stealing the essence of nature and Fearne being embraced by the essence of fire.

The consumption of life to make room for more life; that is what wildfires are. That's what the purpose of fire naturally is, to destroy what can make room for what's new.

It's like Fearne was meant to face Ludinus. He is like the Savalirwood; poisoned and unable to recover from the past, and Fearne is the wildfire that will burn the rot from the roots to give the future a chance to bloom anew.

I feel like debating who Loki was talking to when he said "For You" in the last episode, is missing the point of the scene. And people referring to it as "cowardly" and a "no-homo" moment is just?? Baffling to me tbh because like;

First of all, it is obviously intended to be to both of them? If they only wanted to make it about Sylvie, Mobius wouldn't be there. If they only wanted to make it about Mobius, Sylvie wouldn't be there. If they wanted to make it about everyone they would've just framed it more equally, he does do it for all his friends ("for all of us"), but they have that scene to highlight these two specific relationships. The framing is quite clear, they have him take a last look at all of his friends before going down the stairs, but Mobius and Sylvie runs after him to have a final significant moment.

Which absolutely makes sense and is consistent with the show we have seen so far, s1 and s2 combined, which is what I love about it. And it was to be honest a surprise! Going into this season, I had little hope for Loki/Mobius interactions, just didn't want to expect too much since S1 had a lot of their connection, but that could've been it. I was shocked when s2ep1 was full to the brim with Loki and Mobius scenes? And then they kept reinforcing every week that they care about each other, is a funny duo to watch, and are important to one another.

And despite this, I expected the rug to at some point be pulled, especially compared to Loki's relationship to Sylvie. No matter people's personal viewing on the show, she is still cited as a love interest by showrunners and is just portrayed as that by the narrative a lot of the time. Sidelining that, even in s2 when the romantic hints are more vague, she's still a very important person in Loki's life. She played a central part of the plot and Loki's own character development of understanding himself.

So to me, I was surprised seeing Mobius and Sylvie side by side in the end. Both being framed as The important people in Loki's life. Then, however you wanna see in what ways they are important is up to you, but they are the people he keeps coming back to for advice and self-reflection. You can frame it as "oh it should've been only been Mobius and they added Sylvie to downplay it", which, I just disagree with (If they wanted to go for explicitly canon Lokius they needed to set that up even more earlier in the season but that's a post for another day). Sylvie is still like, a constant in the narrative and driving force of s1, even if s2 changes things around a bit, and imo it would be inconsistent if she just vanished here. I guess I am used to media that downplays a meaningful dynamic between two dudes in more aggressive ways, which they absolutely could've done, and would've taken me out of the story to be honest... but they didn't, Mobius and Sylvie got to be side by side in the end and that imo validated the Loki/Mobius dynamic way more than downplays it.

TLDR; The "For you" was for both Mobius and Sylvie because why would you frame it that way otherwise, and having them side by side like that validates Lokius way more than downplays it in a "no-homo" way considering the full context of the show.

eating habits masterpost

kyle: being that he's been sickly his whole life, he's always had to be pretty careful about what he eats and is never able to fully predict what food is going to set his body off. this makes him both desperate to experience food and flavor and struggle with self control while also making him obsess over self control and so hyperaware of everything he eats. he also has a tendency to restrict how much he eats and fall into weird fad diets as part of his more generalized need to have control over whatever he can in his frequently out of control life, with one of those possible areas of control being food intake. he's not a picky eater, but he's a very sensitive one.

stan: he mostly has an indifferent relationship with food. he has the food he likes and really enjoys eating, but he doesn't tend to stress about it and it doesn't occupy a lot of space in his brain. that said, when he's more depressed he tends to eat more and very mindlessly just rot in his bed for days just snacking, which makes him develop brief, on-and-off weird, guilty feelings about his eating habits and what he eats. he doesn't really go on diets, but when he's an adult he does become a vegetarian again eventually, which is more to do with his love of animals than any issues with good. his eating habits also tend to be affected by his various medications, having been on ones all across the spectrum, from ones that make him ravenously, insatiably hungry and ones that make his appetite completely disappear.

kenny: growing up without the predictability of knowing whether or not he was going to have food in the table and also with the food that actually was in his home so often being spoiled or gross, he's so so weird about what goes in his body and also how much he eats. once he has the money to have a consistent amount of food he's thrilled about it and wants to buy everything he can get is hands on, but once he actually has it he often doesn't eat it or only has like one bite because he feels this weird kind of guilt about it that he doesn't quite understand. which is cyclical because then he feels horrible and guilty for WASTING food. he's not a picky eater and will in theory eat anything, but in practice because of his upbringing he has moments where he has to stop eating his food because he's convinced himself that it's moldy or rotten or has bugs.

cartman: perpetual binge eater and the opposite of a picky eater. he has no concept of how much is too much and doesn't know when to stop. he loves to indulge and eats with pleasure as his main goal. because his mom mostly had snack food and easy to prepare meals in the house, he resists eating fruits and vegetables as he gets older because he wasn't conditioned as a child to seek them out or appreciate them, so he kind of has the palate of an 8 year old for his whole life. he refuses to acknowledge that his propensity to overeat and inability to recognize when he's full or figure out how to do things in moderation is a trauma response, and simply sees it as just him having a lust for life.

wendy: mostly normal about food when she's a kid and also when she's an adult, but becomes very fixated on what she eats when she's in middle school and high school as an extension of her becoming so much more obsessed with her appearance in general. she grows out of this when she's in her 20s and develops a more healthy relationship with food, but is still very conscious of everything that she eats. she's big on eating as healthily as possible and tries to only purchase environmentally friendly and cruelty free groceries.

craig: has no interest in food and only really eats to survive. he doesn't snack, he eats as much as he has to and only when necessary. he has no favorite foods, it just doesn't compel him. if it were up to him, he would eat every meal in a large nutritional horse pill that gave him all of his necessary nutrients at once without making him go through the ordeal that is actually Having A Meal. the only beverage he actually likes is water.

tweek: very particular about food. the only time he really trusts what he's eating is when he (or craig) prepares it or if he's watching the person the entire time while they cook. when he goes to restaurants/gets take out he is terrified that his food is poisoned or laced with something so he needs craig to test it for him. obsessively checks the appearance of food and the ingredients while grocery shopping.

tolkien: has a refined palate but is really embarrassed about it so when he's out with friends he likes to get the most Common Man Food on the menu. he doesn't exactly have a strong sense of what foods are considered "normal" or transcend class so he's often saying things like "what? you've NEVER had escargo? but it's at like every restaurant!" he also has a bad sense of how much groceries cost and always overestimates it. he doesn't snack much when he's alone, but he does when he's with his friends because he doesn't want to be that one guy who isn't chowing down on cheetos at the function.

clyde: really into the idea of bulking but doesn't understand how he's actually supposed to do it. he refuses to ask for help on it though because how hard can it be? he also loves really odd food combinations and basically eats like he's pregnant at all times. he doesn't get why his friends find it so off-putting when they come over to his place and he brings out a tray of snacks and the snacks in question are sliced up sweet pickles with peanut butter spread over them.

jimmy: was really into playing with his food up until way later than most of his peers. and by playing with his food i mean he would act out very intricate plot lines with the food on his plate and get so immersed in his stories that he would take forever to actually eat and sometimes even get so attached to his characters that he couldn't bring himself to eat them because it felt cruel. he loves to eat but hates cooking so most of what he eats are ready-made frozen foods and he has very few unmade ingredients in his cabinets and fridge.

butters: he hates to make his own choices about what to eat, he wants to be told what to eat and have meals just placed in front of him forever. he has this fear that he's going to suggest a food to eat and everyone is going to get unspeakably mad at him, like he's gonna get arrested for saying he wants popeyes or something. he makes an effort to eat healthily but mainly because he's worried he'll get in trouble for eating junk, but if he were to allow himself total freedom of choice, he would be eating mostly sweet foods and desserts. HUGE sweet tooth. his favorite meal is breakfast and he could eat waffles every single day if given the opportunity.

🚨EMPIRE OF STORMS ENDING & SPOILERS!!!!!🚨This is nothing & probably a dumb rambling of emotion but my brain keeps thinking on it randomly:

Aelin is last seen wearing a white blouse in the ending of Empire of Storms (before she is stripped and beaten, leaving no trace but said shirt and her blood stains).

Due to timing of everything, odds are she was wearing this in the short time prior to these moments, specifically at dawn when her and Rowan got married. … She probably wore whatever she was wearing already (in the moments before she asks the question that left off a cliffhanger of dying sparks yet beautiful things)… She wouldn’t have had a dress, odds are she wouldn’t own anything white (lbr that color would both be dysfunctional, distracting, & impossible to keep clean while going through marshes & bloodbaths) let alone anything blue or new (all “old” heirlooms are long since gone)… however, something borrowed, something white… she could probably do.

And since we already know how frequently she likes to “borrow” (steal) Rowan’s shirts (honestly can’t blame her for it🤷‍♀️😂 stolen boyfriends tees are just MORE cozy OKAY?!) so, she was probably wearing a white, borrowed, shirt already (as she was curled up & cozy lying on the floors to look at maps with him) in the hours prior to spontaneously (though it was long coming) getting married. + we know she can turn anything into an outfit so it’d work as a dress with a belt or something😂

Which leads to the thing that keeps nagging at my mind:

1. Was her something borrowed & white one of his shirts🥹 (is it just me or is that too romantically adorable?)

2. She would be going off into a war she does not believe she will survive & still choosing/taking/keeping/carrying a piece of him with her to whatever end, to ground herself when he cannot, and avoid breaking the promise of staying with him as long & far as she can.

3. The image & symbolism of what occurs & is found: the (what we’re calling for aesthetics sake) wedding “dress” covered in blood — His shirt covered in her blood. Something stolen, & never returned, something changed or ruined that can never go back to before… at least not in the same ways.

And 4. Symbolism/metaphors for how he is covered in as much blood as her. It is their wound. It hurt him just as much. … And yet, still he lets it go; himself, the pain, the fear, the past, the shirt and trades it all for hope. For the promise he is making & keeping. For the terrible places they’ll go. For the hope that somehow some way she will find a place with a little less pain even if he has to give every piece of his soul for it. And the progress of how far he has come; for in all he has to mourn, every trigger, confusion, hit, all amid calamity; he does not choose to be afraid, nor to choose rage, or repeat the past. He chooses hope; he chooses her. He chooses them.

And fates be damned, blood stains, scars, and all that has been & to come. He will find a way.

it's so so good that dawn gets the last line in the whole show. not just bc I appreciate the youngest sibling representation w but also the fact that dawn was buffy's lifeline the past few seasons she was the representation of buffy's lost innocence that she would do anything to protect above all others she is the person in buffy's life who she clawed and scratched and fought her way back from the brink for. and now buffy's standing in the sun with her whole life ahead of her and dawn's the one asking what they're gonna do now and the answer to that question is "anything". good GOD that's how you end a show

I don't know if anyone else has said this but

Is it just me or does Lucifer give off "dad from a RoFan/Otome Isekai whose bad communication skills led to irreparable damage in his relationship with his daughter in a first timeline". Honestly Lucifer and Charlie really give me otome isekai/rofan manga/manhwa/manhua father-daughter pair vibes. Like they might not look like it conventionally (mostly in terms of height ig) but they really do feel like they'd fit right in with their love for each other but also non-existent communication skills AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE MISCOMMUNICATION.

Something something reality can be whatever you want it to be—anyways Otome Isekai AU Charlie & Lucifer. I think it'd be neat to just plonk them in this kind of scenario. Like time-travel do-over on either end, reincarnation (wmmap style so it's the "of soul"), parallel universe shenanigans, gaining consciousness in a shitty novel/game turned real world where you and your dad are both in danger of plot bc ur both final bosses. Hell even the "finding ur kid after your wife left" scenario and then going forward from there scenario.

I’ve spent a little too much time thinking about Arthur Morgan’s [redacted] and how his sacrifice for John gave the Marstons a second chance at a normal life and how John carried the guilt of that sacrifice with him in the years after the gang fell apart. And as soon as he was able to reconnect with Arthur’s closest allies from that time they immediately set out on a vengeance mission against micah but the thing is that. They don’t seem to truly know just how direct Micah’s role was in Arthur’s death like yes the man was actively dying but he may not have died there on that mountain if he hadn’t had the shit beaten out of him… John and Charles could have reasonably assumed that pinkertons were the ones that did him in and yet. They really set off on a quest to kill micah on his behalf and they don’t even know the full story the way the player does?

And i think it’s a bit of a missed opportunity (for angst, at least) that John and Charles didn’t seem to put it together once they reconnected. After John revealed that Micah was the rat the whole time, did Charles think back to the state he found Arthur in (Not even getting into the whole ‘how long was Arthur up there before Charles retrieved his body’ of it all because i will DIE)? Did the way he was beaten to a pulp/shot/stabbed (depending on how you played it) seem a bit too…personal to have been done by the pinkertons? As willing as they were to go on this revenge mission on Arthur’s behalf and risk so much in the name of his memory (which he would NOT have wanted them to do btw) imagine how much more emotional it would have been if John and/or Charles had voiced that realization or if Micah had gloated about it beyond just saying Arthur had been dead a long time. AND what if it somehow became known that Dutch had walked away in Arthur’s final moments, what would John’s reaction have been? I don’t know that he would have let him leave Mount Hagen unscathed, not that Dutch would ever have admitted to such a colossal personal failure

people comparing wild blue yonder to midnight like yeah they're both good scary and unsettling BUT the huge fundamental difference between them is that wild blue yonder is about being trapped in a huge empty space with your friend and this scary thing that wants to kill you and not recognising your friend/your friend not recognising you, whereas midnight is about being trapped in this tiny space with a group of strangers and an unknowable entity and instead of fear of not knowing your friend the fear comes from the doctor not having ANY friends there, from the paranoia and mob mentality. it's a very group-focused story as opposed to wby which is only really commenting on the doctor and donna and their relationship.

there are obvs lots of similarities: twisted reflections, a monster that we never truly see or understand, a 'bottle episode' set in one location, unease and building tension and fear, paranoia, but to me at least wild blue yonder is about friendship and being with your friend but also maybe not with them, and worry that maybe you don't know this person that you love as well as you wanted to think you did...but midnight is very much about not having any friends or allies, and how groups can dissolve into paranoia and blame. wby has no 'one-off' characters whereas in midnight the one-off characters are everything. in wby you're alone in this maze of rooms and corridors...in midnight you're trapped with other people in this tiny little shuttle

tldr midnight is very mob mentality/'little pocket of humanity' focused whereas wby is all about the doctor and donna's relationship, and the different sets - one small and crowded, the other huge and empty - show this off pretty well

Sorry this took so long to answer, just started uni so I haven't had much time lately. DRDT has been crazy, didn't expect Xander to be brought up again (not complaining though), I'm pretty glad to be getting more Levi lore because we didn't really know much about him before this point, that's not Teruko's secret, the closing of Arei's character arc was really good, especially for a chapter 2 death, it's so heartwarming to see how much she's grown in a short time and I truly believe that if she had lived longer she really could have become a better person. It's just a shame that she never got the chance. Also while her whole speech may have been a very unsubtle way of getting the message of this chapter across it was done very effectively, it's nice that she managed to get to the right conclusion before she died. Hu getting higher on my list of preferred characters because she was popping off in the last few episodes and is starting to get really interesting, finally getting information on what the fuck was going on with Nico's murder attempt because that was really confusing, Rose lore is great, I am so happy that Teruko is getting development and learning to trust people again, I didn't expect it to happen this early but it's nice to see, also her smile is so precious, we haven't seen her smile genuinely ever since the first trial, I am so downloading that sprite once it's uploaded to the site. I have no idea what David is trying to do and at this point I don't even care anymore, "distrust others because that is the only way you know how to live" is a raw line though.

I'm going to be honest, I haven't really made any culprit predictions because the case was too complicated to figure out and no answer seemed right (and also because I liked everyone too much to want any of them to be the culprit). My go to answer was 11037 lol. Now that it's narrowed down to two suspects, though it is a lot easier to make a prediction because I don't think there are going to be any more plot twists this late into the trial. I am currently leaning slightly towards Ace, mainly because after Eden's whole sob fest it would be pretty hard to sell all of that being a lie without complete character assassination, but drdt-dev is skilled enough to make it work so I could see it going either way. Ace could have gotten the fish while Eden couldn't have unless she had an accomplice which I don't imagine happening right now, but Eden was acting suspiciously in the dressing room and could have been putting together the ball of clothes at that time. I can't remember if the conversation between Arei and David had her mention Arturo's secret specifically and I don't have the time to check, but if it did then Ace didn't have to listen to the original conversation between him and Eden because he would know from overhearing the other. Considering how pedantic he was about the carousel, it is kind of unlikely he would misspell responsible, though, so that's an issue. I do hope it's not Eden, because if it is then Teruko would regress so hard after all the progress she made this trial, and while it would make for an interesting story it would be sad, and my babygirl doesn't deserve that. Also it would prove David right after she made the conscious effort to not listen to him, and fuck that bitch.

TLDR: everything is awesome and I can't wait for Saturday. Stan Teruko Tawaki for clear skin.

Not to be too SCREE on main but I just got a frankly magical opportunity! Guy on Reddit invited me to a Vampire the Masquerade game that he was forming with a pre-existing group, I guess somebody probably couldn't play in their new campaign, so they invited me. I was nervous because Vampire is a more complicated system than I'm used to, but the GM actually took the time to hop on a call with me ahead of time to discuss the game and the rules, and gave me some one-on-one time in session 0 to help me fill out my character sheet, and even planned the group's backstory around my character (so the other players' first goals are going to be to teach my character some of the mechanics in-game).

Since it's a pre-existing group of people he's already played with, I already knew going in that the players would be cool, and ofc they were! They were all really nice and made sure I felt welcome, even though I couldn't contribute much since I don't know all the rules and lore. Everybody made a point to ask me what I thought about the ideas they had.

In one of my previous games I tried joining I was happy to see people talking in the discord a lot but then a lot of the players turned out to be very... terminally online? Y'know? Like in a bad way? So I was a little worried about joining a group that might be the same! It's so uncomfortable to get out of it once you realize you don't vibe with them. But I think I'm going to vibe with all these folks! They're all very funny, a lot of them are also queer, they seem to have similar interests re: roleplaying and what kind of game we like to play. I didn't get much chance to speak with them since it was a lot of rules talk, but once we get into gameplay, I'm really excited to start roleplaying with them and getting to know them better.

And the rules of Vampire are really cool now that I've gotten the chance to learn them! I'm always scared about more complicated games like that, but I love the mechanics, they're all really interesting and well crafted. It feels like... a bunch of super simple games mashed up together. All the mechanics are recognizable from rules-light games I've played, so it's way less confusing when they're all put together.

And I'm excited for my character, he's a combination of a bunch of ideas and aesthetics I love and he's going to be so much fun to play.

i loved seeing the parts of Summer that we never get to see, her spaceship (again!)!!!! her relationship with Morty and Rick hhhh i am so pleased. what a great episode (im still not ok from e5 thank u for asking) i just know we'll be hit by a doozy by the time the finale is out. or idk? maybe not? BUT?????????????
