Mental state of Enrico [headcanons]

TW: I will be talking here about some mental disorders, PTSD, coping, alcohol abuse, and SA. So if any of these are triggering for you - please skip this post.

Okay, so... Some of these are more connected to canon Enrico, but some of them are inclining towards Enrico from my fanfics/the way I portray him. Which means that you can have different point of view, and that's valid! After all - these are just headcanons.

• I should start with the fact, that I diagnosed Maxwell with narcissistic personality disorder. I won't list all of the symptoms, just a brief description of this disorder: “mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.” - Feel like there is no need for further explanation, but if you want to read more, here is a link for the source

• But it would be boring to see him struggle just with this, right??? So of course that I added SA and harassment from a priest/member of Iscariot. Yeah, yeah, I know it's kinda a basic, over-used trope, but I just felt like adding this to his backstory, because I like to dive into psychological stuff and I seriously wanted to write what kind of impact this had on Maxwell.

• In my storyline he had been harassed since like six to thirteen/fourteen, till he started locking the door of his room. (It was during the time, he was already living in Iscariot headquarters because he had been in the training for a while.) And he was mostly molested in his sleep, because the said priest had somnophilia aka “sleeping princess syndrome”.

• I feel like I don't have to explain why Enrico never told anyone. - Because of his pride. He would feel ashamed admitting that someone did this to him, and that he was completely helpless to it. So he rather kept this to himself, “saving” himself from public embarrassment.

• I dare to say that these events gave him some sort of PTSD, which made him scared about sudden physical touch. (Especially if it's in his sleep. - That can trigger a full-on panic attack.) And nightmares are a casual thing for him, even though now they aren't that common. - So that's why he never lets anyone to get too close, and hugging is definitely NOT and option.

• He never opened about this not even to people that were close to him - Yumie and Heinkel - because he was terrified of them wanting to do something about this situation and confronting the said priest. He chose path of a loner - someone who will become the greatest man alive and will look down on all the people that did him wrong.

• Despite all of this Maxwell never thought about self-harm nor suicide. He saw these things as something pathetic and miserable, and he would never let himself to sink so low. In this he was the exact opposite - he started aiming as high as possible, to achieve power that would help him to cope. (If you are actually struggling with this: No, you are NOT pathetic nor miserable. My man is just an idiot with twisted thoughts. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, please, don’t be scared to ask for help. You matter.)

• That's also why he stayed in church/Iscariot. His view on God kinda changed (“He can't be real. If he was real... Why would he let me suffer like this?”), but he became fanatic in his own way. - Twisted man in need of power great enough to help him cope with his trauma.

• But being in charge wasn't his only way of coping. - Through the years Enrico developed another unhealthy habit, which was drinking alcohol in order to cleanse his mind. When he got the position of leader of Iscariot, he started enjoying expensive and luxury wines not only from Italy but also France. He doesn't drink every day, but when he gets in this certain state of mind, he is able to drink two or three bottles all alone.

• Since he was never taught to show his emotions nor talk about his feelings, he started bottling everything up, growing more distant and cold to everyone around him. Yet he made it look like he just grew up very quickly, and that he just became a very wise and disciplined young man.

• The only emotions he is capable of showing up are frustration, anger, and disappointment.

Enrico Maxwell being a niceguy is the funniest shit to me. Mans literally scum in the manga might as well be a simp nice guy.

5. Alexander Anderson

"Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." (Genesis 3:16)

As long as you play along, you have nothing to fear.

Just like with the orphans, Anderson is very gentle to those he is fond of. So he'll provide you with a domestic life, even though prisoned and heavily supervised.

Either himself or his trusted members of Iscariot always have an eye on you, making it basically impossible to even think of getting away.

The priest has some very strict demands about how you as his partner should act. Would never touch you against his will, though. He'd be fine with keeping his celibate as long as you're with him.

While controlling his bloodlust exceptionally well, he'll definetly let it out on others shall you misbehave. Preferably people close to you, claiming they're bad influence.

Better never mention you miss anyone from your old life, since he gets jealous very easily and with his kind of power he can make them disappear at a whim.

Other than that, Anderson really just wants you to be at his side and, in his wicked perception, protect you from this dangerous world.

4. Enrico Maxwell

"Don't be so fucking ungrateful. You were a nobody, and yet I treated you like a goddess!"

With Maxwell you'll feel like a bird in a golden cage.

He has a constant need to prove his worth, and overcompensates his lack at understanding true human connection with what he mistakes for care. So he'll shower you in gifts and other pleasantries, and takes it very personally when you don't properly appreciate his efforts in his eyes.

Also gets easily offended when you don't reciprocate his advances, especially when you deny him physically. But even smaller, more insignificant gestures he will over-analyze in his fear of rejection.

On the other hand I can see him being very subsceptible for flattery and the likes, so you can use his insecurities against him. Inflate his ego with sweettalk or whatever's necessary to keep him pleased.

The worst part is that he literally thinks you owe him affection.

3. Alucard

"Shh...it's over now. You endured so well, my love. As always."

Alucard is very confident to keep you at his side due to the sheer amount of might he possesses. So with him you get a lot of freedom, at least metaphorically. You can roam around a lot, talk to other people, almost act like you have a normal life.

He would never force himself on you due to his own experience with SA, but he won't be able to keep himself from taking your blood on the regulary. It's simply addicting to the vampire, and sometimes he goes overboard and leaves you anemic. A few times he almost killed you while indulging in the taste of your essence.

Being the abomination he is, he craves being accepted nonetheless, no matter what side of himself he presents you. He'll entertain himself by unleashing undescribable horrors just to cradle you in his arms shortly after, never actually physically but rather emotionally scarring you. After a while, sleep seems like an impossible task.

He is very well aware of the absurdity of his actions, but cannot seem to stop himself.

2. The Captain

This man is clouded in mystery, so I can see this go two very different ways: Either you're his sole sweet sanctuary from this cruel existence, or a moral support for the last remnant of his humanity.

While he is calm on the outside, still waters run deep. His love is a two-edged sword that will eventually end in your demise. The curse of immortality made him insane and nihilistic, and most of the time it's a walk on eggshells with him really.

In general the Captain is rather soft, but he doesn't see you as a person. You're like a doll, a toy to do however he pleases with, until he gets bored and throws you away...or you break. Whatever happens first.

Also, the man is part of Millenium. Most probably wouldn't dare messing with you, but the possibility of getting abused by the organization isn't completely off limits, for example if it's an order from the higher-ups.

Especially full moons are terrifying, making him even more violent and unpredictable.

1. Walter C Dornez

"If I can't have you, I'll make sure no one ever will."

The weakest yet most violent and unhinged of them all.

Stops at nothing to make you obedient, can rob you of your free will with little to no effort. It will start harmless with ruining your reputation, but ends up at extreme kinds of torture, like withdrawal of food or mutiliation to make you less appealing to others.

His paranoia is dangerous for you even when you did nothing wrong, there is no way you won't be punished one way or another. Being with him is merely a mixture of dread and immeasurable pain.

Nothing you ever do is good enough for him, because it's not genuine. That contradiction is driving him crazy, and will hopefully end your misery at some point.

I feel like Yumiko and Enrico are best friends, although he’s a coward I doubt he’d let anyone bully his baby sister and get away with it (probably sending someone to kill them or have them tortured, he’d do the same with for heinkel but Yumikos to innocent for this world , plus he likes his sis Yumiko more because Yumie just to violent and loud, he still loves her because it’s still his sister

Him and heinkel just like to talk and spend time together, talking about work and how much they both despise Protestants and heretics and just humanity it’s self, and sense heinkels basically his bodyguard

They send a lot of time together, I bet at times heinkel talks Enrico out of work so he can sleep and rest and not look like a tall tired angry jerk

I have so many fandoms but here are a few ideas that have been roaming in my head, some of it is headcanon stuff but a few bits are story ideas. It's a bit long so it is all below the line lol

HEADCANON

Hellsing Ultimate: Alucard loves being in crowds of people and loves the glitter and glam of parties. He likes looking good and seducing others even if he doesn't actually do anything with them.

Yu Yu Hakusho: 1) Hiei will never admit not even on his deathbed that he likes Kuwabara's cats or in fact Kuwabara himself. Unless I'm writing Hiei/Kuwabara and then it's just the cats 🤣

2) Kurama and Yusuke have unresolved sexual tension, but won't ever say anything as long as Keiko is alive or dating Yusuke. 3) It takes Kuwabara way too long to figure out that Shizuru and Botan have a relationship, and Hiei asks him how he could be so blind? 4) If Yusuke and Keiko split she starts to date Yukina I will go down with this ship and the live-action 100% teased me about it.

Danny Phantom: 1) Danny and Tucker secretly like Justin Bieber, They won't tell Sam because Sam thinks Bieber is dumb (As a metal head I agree with Sam 🤣) Though she does like some of their other musical tastes whatever those might be. 2) Vlad likes "Tennessee Whiskey" by Chris Stapleton, and various jazz bands. 3) Jack is a rock n' roll kind of guy and Maddie is a big fan of hyperpop for some reason lol

STORY IDEA (Bits and Bobs)

Hellsing: Alucard attempts to Woo Enrico Maxwell as they have a strange sexual tension and Maxwell isn't nearly as straight as Alucard thought the man was. (The Blood Auctions subplot)

Yu Yu Hakusho: Hiei gets turned into a girl because of magic wagic and Kuwabara already attracted to Male Hiei is absolutely besotted. Which Hiei is annoyed by this because he doesn't want to be treated any different while they figure out how to change him back.

Little does he know that Kuwabara isn't just attracted to his girl form and when Kuwabara blurts it out Hiei is shocked. Kurama likens it to a boy pulling on a girl's pigtails. Which Keiko makes fun of Yusuke for because he did the same thing with her for a long time.

Danny Phantom: Danny gets pulled into an alternate timeline (DC) and finds out that while he doesn't exist In this world His family and Vlad do. Vlad is human in this world and isn't nearly obsessed with Maddie to the point he leads a normal life rather than being a stalker. He's been married at least three times and has two kids (basically Dani and Dan), and Maddie and Jack had Jazz but no Danny.

Super Mario Bros: Luigi has a bit of a problem, two enemies are flirting to high hell with him and Mario is completely making fun of him for it. A truce between the Dark Lands and the Mushroom Kingdom had already been worked out so Bowser was over more often and not to attack them. Peach finds it hilarious once she realizes that Bowser is very obviously flirting with Luigi. Even more so when King Boo at Bowser's behest to sign the treaty also flirts heavily with Luigi. Both want the man's attention and Luigi Poor bastard is utterly freaked out. Mario is more amused than Annoyed but still yells at the guys to knock it off and leave his twin the hell alone.

Miraculous Ladybug: Marinette and Felix get trapped by a train collision in an underground tunnel trapping them and other passengers. Felix finally fed up with Marinette being utterly blind to his advances tells her he likes her. She surprises him with a confession of her own. (I started this one, but ehhh I haven't written for it in a long time)

Another one is Marinette and Gabriel starting to see each other, but in their hero/villain costumes and talking about what they want from the world. Marinette is well aware that Hawkmoth is trying to save a life and this goes on for months before Marinette accidentally finds Gabriel shifting out of Hawkmoth. Starting a fight between them, where she tries to take the Butterfly pendent from him. Both are bruised and battered-panting for breath when Gabriel basically says fuck it and pulls her to him, Kissing her at the same time he allows her to take his pendant. Marinette unsure of his intentions runs off which he allows. More than aware that a relationship between them was basically impossible but hoped she'd come back and tell him how she felt.

TMNT: A story about Mikey becoming a super awesome stealthy Soot! His skills are legendary, and he does it for his family so they have enough money and because he likes the thrill and sometimes the stuff he steals. (A subplot for my fic Pac-Man)

Isakai: Slow Life: A new one for me but I've been playing this game for months lol I want to write a fic between Sadako and Dia. Both are ghosts, Sadako for you horror movie lovers is 100% the one from the Ring franchise but if she were a lady trapped in a mirror and kind? When I first saw her I knew but had to look up to make sure they had the same name which they do lol Funny choice for a romance game but to each their own at least she is pretty in it lol

Harry Potter: Vampire Harry Potter Takes Lucius Malfoy for one hell of a ride. The original idea was for Harry to basically fall into a blood lust and snap out of it before actually killing the man and then forcing him to swear that he'd serve Harry and not Tom Riddle. In return, Harry would protect him and his family.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan as a sith is confronted by a padawan Anakin Skywalker, who was separated from his Master Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan remembers when he used to be Qui-Gon's Padawan before he was abandoned on Melida/Daan

because as much as i like the akatsuki verse, it gets boring so i'd like to explore outside it too with asks, especially. i want to share the headcanons and character development i have made with these muses.

deidara: owns a pottery shop and has a son, Ame. [ fc: mira olivier armstrong from fullmetal alchemist ].

sasori: on the run; mercenary. [ fc: pending ].

hidan: was dug up and denounced jashin; became a priest to his old region of the Father God; known as Father Hidan or just Father. [ fc: enrico maxwell from hellsing ].

kakuzu: on the run; mercenary. [ fc: pending ].

konan: became leader of amegakure. [ fc: pending ].

Okay mine ask is a two parter. One does Enrico have a favorite member? Like Anderson would be up there, but like Anderson disobeyed so much, and is probably a redtape nightmare. Honestly Iscariot must be a pain to run, don't know why anyone would want that job. The second question is, can Bishop Maxwell fight like his contemporaries? I hope this was interesting

Part one. Concerning members and pains.

Though it is true that running an organization like Iscariot may be a pain, that is the very sort of pain, sweet and exquisite, certain types of people keep asking for. The leader of Iscariots should not only be intelligent enough to do that but also possess very doubtful moral values and be ready to sacrifice them in the name of the greater cause. It is a place for a cunning and sleek politician who is not interested in money and material values but at the same time knows how to use them. It is a place for a person who must be willing to take risks and ready to face the consequences of their decisions, a strong leader respected by his subordinates and feared and hated by everyone else. The leader of Iscariots is the black sheep of the Vatican, the one who fears no one and bows only to the Pope and Lord Almighty, in exactly that order. And last, but not least, the leader of Iscariots should be able to balance between fanaticism (to be able to make necessary and unnecessary sacrifices) and rationalism (to see the bigger picture). One might think that there is no way anybody would like to take that role... and one would be wrong. For the leader of Iscariots has the power no one else in the Vatican has, the power to execute and destroy everyone but the Pope.

Enrico’s favorite member of Iscariots is Alexander Anderson. Anderson is truly a trump card of the Vatican, and Enrico is proud to have that kind of weapon in his hands. If only that weapon didn’t have so much of a free will! It is truly very difficult to control Anderson – the episode in the British Museum was a good example of these difficulties and, sadly, not the only one – but Maxwell manages to do that. Every person has a weak spot, and Enrico knows all Anderson’s weaknesses and uses them to manipulate Alex. Information is the key, and Enrico, as the leader of Iscariots, has at his disposal Anderson’s personal file where his biography and past are stated. Aside from the fact that Anderson is his trump card, Enrico deeply respects and loves him as a person. These feelings are similar for every orphan who grew up under Anderson’s care and supervision. Another important thing that makes Alexander Anderson his favorite member of Iscariots is that Enrico doesn’t have to worry about him. Maxwell worries for Heinkel and Yumiko, he sees them as his siblings (even if he doesn’t want to admit that in front of anybody), but they are human, they are mortal. They can die. With Anderson, on the other hand, it is a totally different story.

Part two. Concerning the rumors that “Enrico fights like a girl so don’t you ever cross him”.

Maxwell can shoot but doesn’t do it very often. He doesn’t even carry a gun and seldom travels without a bodyguard if he has to leave the Vatican. Enrico can use a stiletto mostly for self-protection because he believes that as the leader of Iscariots he should not be the one to take part in any physical combat. Iscariots have their symbols and they pay a lot of attention to them: 30 pieces of silver, a dagger, a rope, and a vial of poison. One might say that Maxwell uses the first and the last ones the best. As a politician and a prominent figure in the Vatican, he uses the money to control people. Those who can not be either controlled or reasoned... for them he uses poison. Maxwell knows a lot about various poisons and God knows he can use them.

Maxwell wears a very old and intricately decorated ring that some rumors say to vaguely resemble the descriptions of the ring Rodrigo Borgia, later Pope Alexander IV, used to wear. Enrico only sweetly smiles when being asked about the ring and says nothing... but cardinals whom he sometimes dines with tend to get strangely pale and nervous whenever Enrico’s hand gets near their plates or glasses.

“Oh, don’t you get all paranoid with me! I am a man of God...,” Maxwell laughs. “... and a priest of Judas.”

We discussed this with my partner and we agreed that in English dub THIS would be perfect voice claim for Enrico. I'm not saying that his original voice would be bad or so, but I think it's too deep for him.

Also, the way singer pronounced “wrapped in your regret”??? - Gave me so much of impression of Enrico. (Believe me I have Maxwell's “I can offer you my pity, but forgiveness? Never! Now prepare to be purged from the Earth.” as my notification sound, so I know what I am taking about.)

Not to mention, that imagining Enrico singing this makes me week in my knees. Totally not simping.

Halloween with the Hellsing Characters Pt. 2

Anon wanted part 2. More platonic than romantic. No warnings. GN! Reader

A/N: This has been written in kind of a hurry, sorry if it's messy and uninspired. Did I forget anyone? Let me know!

Heinkel and Yumie:

They're 50:50 on this. On the one hand it goes against their religion and they don't wanna disappoint Anderson, on the other hand this sounds like so much fun??

In the end they'll tag along, claiming that they are only here for your protection. You'll go trick-or-treating with the orphans without the nuns knowledge, and later on sneak out to visit a party. Not the first time they do something forbidden, you later learn.

Those two will get wrecked and you'll see a whole new side of them. They're dancing, making silly jokes, cling to you and proclaim how much you mean to them. Either they really got a mental blackout or they'll just act like they don't remember the next day.

Will absolutely get in trouble and argue a lot with other guests unprovoked. The guy complimenting Yumie's 'sexy nun costume' regrets it to this day.

Maxwell:

Oh, he'll be the biggest nag. Hates holidays, hates children, hates anything and anyone. This is beneath him, this is immature and stupid, the list is endless. He'd definetly do whatever you ask of him but he will be a bitch about too.

Acts annoyed the whole time but is actually having so much fun, his inner child is thriving. He was secretly afraid to involuntarily ruin the mood, but you tolerate his attitude so well that he actually gets over himself and comes out of his shell a lil' bit.

Finds himself enjoying to coddle the children, much to his surprise. Compliments their costumes, at least in his wry indirect way. Doesn't have any sweets so he'll give them money lol, they ain't complaining.

Won't talk about it again but you will find a list on his desk with ideas for the next year, and gosh that man will prepare an amazing experience for the children. Obviously only for your sake, not because he wants it...right?

Schrodinger:

Is absolutely thrilled, but tbh he won't act much different than usual. Halloween can be any day if you're bold enough and willing to do crime.

Leaves a lot of dead bodies inappropriate stuff at your doorstep like a literal cat and acts like it's 'realistic decoration'. Tries to scare you the whole night through popping up anywhere, optionally dressed up differently each time. Like you'll open the fridge and there he is, scream-mask in his face and launching at you.

Doesn't like kids though, they're a little too bold for his taste. Always tug on his ears and tail.

Luke and Jan Valentine:

They really don't need a special occasion to do scary stuff and don't understand the hype around it, but if you insist.

Luke is a total showoff, dresses up and claims it's a costume bc he wears his hair different. Jan comes covered in blood but unsettlingly doesn't specify whether it's fake or not. You on the other hand could wear a potato sack and they'll act like you got the funniest, most beautiful costume ever - and anyone that disaggrees or doesn't acknowledge it properly is in for a horrid experience.

Whatever you have planned to do, you'll probably end up in a completely wrecked place with two idiots that try to one-up each other.

Rip Van Winkle:

A real big fan, but you're the only one she confesses this to. Feels relieved she doesn't have to hide it anymore and to have someone to commit the festive with.

Possesses a lot of related knowledge: All the scary stories and history behind the holiday, can recommend you the best movies, will be informed about every cool event worth going to.

Wears a hyper specific costume. Like gurl what do you mean you're the lighting post from Hereditary?!

Her bullets make for a pretty cool lighting show in the dark, but she'll most likely use her musket to make every pumpkin she sees explode.

Zorin Blitz:

Fuck that boring ass holiday, do you wanna see real horror? That was a hypothetic question, you got no choice.

Digs deep into the occult. Wanna speak with ghosts? Summoun a demon? Make a blood pact or sth? Human sacrifices? You'll witness some shit if you don't dampen her enthusiasm.

After persuading her into some more tame things she'll still find a way to make it more 'interesting'. You'll play truth or dare and she forces people to relive their most traumatic memories, calls it 'bonding time'.

Cad Bane/Padme Amidala: They both consider each other friends but Cad is hardly going to say that out loud, he's grateful for her trust as it's a rare gift to give him.

Vlad Masters/Danny Phantom: Vlad grew up speaking three languages Georgian, Russian, and English his mother was Georgian and his father was Russian and after they married they went to America where Vlad was born. Danny likes to hear Vlad speak other languages.

Hiei/Kuwabara: Hiei secretly likes to cuddle Eikichi Kuwabara's cat and Kuwabara pretends to not notice lol

Raphael/Oroku Saki: Saki won't admit that he is a lightweight when it comes to drinking- when Raph finds out he valiantly tries to not laugh but fails when drunken/cuddly Saki tells him he's not drunk.

Gabriel/ Marinette: Gabriel is self-aware he knows he's a mental wreck of a man on top of being an asshole but he's also somewhat aware of his wife playing him. Marinette knows for a fact his wife played with his feelings and isn't sure she should tell him that.

Wenreesa/Quenchy/Augustine: Augustine is a dom 100% and any partner he plays with (and boy does he have a long list lol) he takes care of. This is normal for him, and he is very against Doms who don't follow this, their jerks and he will kick them in the jewels.

Michelangelo/Tiger Claw: Mikey can actually drink like a boss, but he mostly keeps that hidden-surprising anyone who wants to drink him under the table which ends up in shenanigans lol

Alucard/Enrico Maxwell: Enrico and Alucard find a certain amount of solace in each other, Whatever scenario gets them together they realize very quickly that they don't want to let go selfishly wanting to spend more time knowing that eventually they will have to be enemies again eventually. They compromise and become frenemies with benefits lol

King Boo/Luigi: Boo just wants to cuddle his little green bean, but was too afraid to make a move so Luigi is forced to make the first move lol

Clockwork/Dan Phantom: Clockwork is still a little fucked up from his ex (Pariah Dark) but slowly Dan is healing those hurts. Clockwork is helping Dan bond with Jazz and Dani, giving them all a safe space in his tower to interact at first before they are all comfortable enough to hang out elsewhere.

So enrico, yumi and heinkel are all the same age? I could have sword enrico was years older

I think he’s maybe a couple years older because he seems taller than them in the flashback scene where they’re all together. But to be fair we can assume those are more abstract metaphors because they seem vaguely surreal and I really can’t see why Anderson would give Yumie and Heinkel adult sized weapons. (I’d say weapons at all... but they grew up in an Iscariot orphanage.)

You could probably interpret that those are just Anderson’s vague memories since he saw all of them grow up and they’re either similar or wildly different in age. We do know for fact that Anderson looked exactly the same when Enrico joined decades ago as a child. Therefore we know he doesn’t grow old, and nothing in canon has really given us an idea of his lifespan.
