#eugene evans imagine
I feel like Rory would be so awkward about his feelings for Eugene it would get to the point where the other survivors would just point and laugh at him for stumbling over his words talking to him and knocking things over trying to act casual
I’m screaming-
This is so cute to imagine!!!

Steve’s Endgame Ending fixed
What if at the end of Endgame when Steve is returning the stones, he has to give up something he loves, right? So what if he gives up his super-serum effects (an au tweaked and borrowed from @growingpaynes-art ), and turns back into pre-serum-Steve? A list of reasons why I think this would work:
A) Straight off the bat it’s easy to keep Steve in the MCU with Chris Evans’ contract ending if they replace the actor who plays pre-serum-Steve (obviously with a guy who looks similar to the first movie, but without the CGI). I know people might be confused why he looks different but the MCU’s changed actors before and it’s not the hardest stretch of the imagination. Also thematically it’d be cool to have Steve be literally unrecognisable to the audience.
B) I think a lot of writers for the Avengers are so focused on writing ‘Captain America’; ‘bland, stoic, with no sense of humor’, that they forget about Steve Rogers; the young disabled man who would put his life on the line to fight fascists. This would be a great way to get back to the basics of Steve’s character and show the audience who he truly is.
C) Honestly it would just be nice to show that Steve is just as righteous and brave with his disabilities, something not often shown in media. Even the MCU likes to focus on Steve’s asthma and ignore that he actually was disabled. (which i’ll touch on in a second).
*and now for some more headcannon-y stuff*
A) From screenshots from the movie, and a list at Disneylands Tomorrowland exhibit, the canon list of Steve’s disabilites and health problems are:
Asthma
Anemia
Diabetes
Color-blindness
Arrhythmia
Scoliosis
Chronic colds
High blood pressure
Easy fatigability
Heart trouble
Sinusitis
Fallen arches
Partial deafness
Stomach ulcers
Pernicious Anemia
Astigmatism
Nervous troubles of any sort
History of; scarlet fever, rheumatic fever
(Jesus Christ Steven)
B) It’d be cute to see Steve actually be able live with his disabilities, unlike in the 30’s. I cannot stress how much eugenics there was back then (and still is now, but WAY more casually acceptable back then). Even the actual Captain America storyline reeks of it a bit; experiment on a disabled man to ‘fix’ him and turn him into a soldier. However in the 21st century imagine if he could get the help he actually needs! Obviously a lot of his stuff is chronic, but he could actually live with it instead of just surviving like he would have done. And be able to afford them, unlike back in the Great Depression. Back braces, inhaler, mobility aids etc. It’d be nice to see a disabled person living with themselves as the HAPPY ending, instead of as a tragedy as it’s usually played.
C) The story of him actually seeing worth in his old (new?) body and himself instead of just a vessel for Captain America. A self-acceptance arc. Being able to retire in peace without anyone recognising him as Captain America without having to give up his life in the 21st century.
D) The Smithsonian exhibit is so closely tailored to his propaganda persona that it fails to acknowledge him as a person. I wouldn’t be surprised if the general public has never even seen a photo of him pre-serum, or knew how bad his illnesses were besides ‘just asthmatic and skinny’. He could easily walk around and not be noticed by anyone.
Tldr: Steve’s proper ending in Endgame should have had him return to his skinny form in exchange for the stone, and him being able to retire to finish art school in peace.

Infamous: Second Son Fancast.
Because I'm replaying the game.
Infamous Second Son Fancast!!
Delsin Rowe - D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, couldn't find anyone young enough to protray Delsin, cause there aren't enough Indigenous Actors. I like up and coming actors rather than known, it gives more options and more talent to emerge, But I really like D'Pharaoh.
Tumblr media
Reggie Rowe - Martin Sensmeier, Chaske Spencer, or Kiowa Gordon. I'd really say Martin, because his skin tone matches D'Pharaoh. Probably simple minded to think that, lol. (I'm black btw. 1% Indigenous lol). Though I really like Chasake, he got the older brother who's just tired of younger brother vibe. And Kiowa was really good in Dark Winds. (I recommend you to watch, it's a good show).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Betty - Tantoo Cardinal (The only older woman I could find to play Betty...But also because Tantoo is a really great actress).
Tumblr media
Brooke Augustine - Sigourney Weaver Or if Male, Anthony Starr. Sigourney is an obvious choice to play strong evil villain lady, but imagine it being Anthony Starr. He creeps me out on The Boys so much, but like...he's also...yeah. But he plays such an evil asshole, that I think he would do good as Augustine. Bruce Augustine...lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Henry Daughtry - Oliver Jackson-Cohen. I liked him in The Haunting of Hill House and the other trilogy whatevers lol. If he can pull out a Texan or Southern accent out his ass, he'd be pretty neat. (I'm Southern also btw).
Tumblr media
Fetch (Abigail Waller) - Odessa A'zion, honestly couldn't find anyone I liked.
Tumblr media
Eugene Sims - Evan Peters, Devon Bosick. I know Evan is tired of playing evil twisted roles. But he made a really good superhero in X-Men. He also gives Introvert nerd that hacks into databases. So does Devon Bosick, I started back reading The 100 fanfictions, and he'd make a good choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shane -Boyd Hollbrook, Anthony Starr, like I said before. Evil. Villainy. He's amazing at it. Also Boyd played a good bad guy on Logan...I love his acting and his face..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love doing fancast.

To fd2
What is Rory like sober?
Evan: Hes basically just normal Rory but a little boring.
Tim: I don't think I've ever really seen Rory sober before. I'd imagine he'd be a little less...weird? I don't know.
Nora: Rory's very lovely when hes sober and I wish he was like that more often.
Kat: I hate him either way but I guess I can tolerate him more when hes sober.
Eugene: He literally acts the exact same. Maybe hes been addicted for so long that hes high no matter what. Or hes just a natural dumbass.
Clear: Hes fine and actually pretty helpful.
Kimberly: Even though Rory is entertaining when hes out of it, hes more bearable to be around when hes sober.
Burke: When hes sober, Rory is actually a pretty chill guy. Still not very responsible, but its still better than finding him passed out somewhere.

evil laughter 💭 🍳 💒 🔊
i now realize that looks more threatening with the qiao ling pfp. i apologize in advance. have an evil night <3
If this wasn't an ask game I'd totally be scared like. What do these emojis mean. Am I gonna die 😭 Anyways ty sol <33
💭: You like to daydream about the two of you to
There are so many daydreams. It comes randomly. But yesterday I was rewatching Tangled AND IT'S SO UNORIGINAL BUT I WAS SO. LISTEN IT'S SO PRETTY AND EUGENE'S VOIC— *gets dragged away*
(Also I get reminded of this memory of my friend saying "who do you imagine it with bc you can't tell me you don't do that" or something along those lines so now. I always do that. And WTH I SEE THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON. WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS. I'M JUST PLAYING MY 1.9K LIKED SONGS ON SHUFFLE????)
🍳: You could imagine cooking with them to
I just chose these because they have sunshine-y, cute, and cheerful vibes! They're both also kind of about that ✨domestic life vibes✨ (that's more of stay stay stay tho)
💒: You would play at your wedding
Now why would you (and lina) pick the hardest one. But, it definitely needs to be an instrumental, even better if it's piano, and I actually know the perfect arrangement (even if it incorporates the most overused piece ever)
BUT. I WAY prefer this arrangement, even if it doesn't really fit them. It's too good not to be played (the piano guys are really really good)
🔊: Make a playlist between 2-8 songs long for your self ship
*rubs hands together* Time to pull up The Playlist (also didn't you make a playlist for me before KSMDKFSM)
It's a duet. It's piano. That's literally all I want in life
The instrumentals my beloved <3 And I think this is the ship but from her perspective. Like, it's Her Song
IT'S LITERALLY THEM ???? I've never seen a song match more than this one. Who are Evan and Zoe
THIS COVER IS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT'S SO SOFT AND AKSMFNFMS I love it sm. Just a guitar as the instrumental? Absolutely genius.
I just need to add this because 1) instrumentals 2) Enchanted my most belovedest ever 3) The song is gorgeous I'll never not love it
Gorgeous by Taylor Swift
Audio limit smh. Anyways. “Ocean blue eyes looking in mine, I feel like I might sink and drown and die”
What You Mean To Me from Finding Neverland
Absolutely gorgeous song. The harmonizing is AMAZING
Mabagal by Daniel Padilla and Moira Dela Torre
This is basically, like, the Filipino Sway but it's slower and softer? I absolutely adore it <3

50 Years After the Apollo 17 Mission, the Moon Looks Closer Than Ever

50 Years After the Apollo 17 Mission, the Moon Looks Closer Than Ever
Fifty years ago today, two men woke up on humanity’s last day on the moon.
Nobody would be back to the moon anytime soon. Plans for additional Apollo missions had been scrapped two years earlier, in 1970. A few minutes ahead of their scheduled wake-up time, two NASA astronauts, Eugene A. Cernan and Harrison Schmitt, called home from Apollo 17’s smelly, dust-strewn lunar module to croon “Good morning to you” down to Earth. Mission Control responded with a blast of “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” recently famous from “2001: A Space Odyssey,” the Stanley Kubrick film that imagined permanent lunar outposts and human journeys to Jupiter
Their formal goodbyes had already been delivered to the TV cameras. The only thing left to do was to work down a few prelaunch checklists, depart to meet with Ronald E. Evans in the command module and then head home to Earth. “Now, let’s get off,” Cernan said, and so they did, their craft climbing up from the moon’s gray desolation until it was lost in a black sky.
Clockwise from top left, Apollo 17 in view of its target during countdown on Dec. 7, 1972; likewise, Artemis 1 on the night before its launch on Nov. 14; Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, Artemis I launch director, in the firing room in 2019; Apollo 17 firing room team members cheering its launch in 1972. NASA
While many Americans in 2019 celebrated the 50 years after Apollo 11 first put Neil and Buzz on the moon, Wednesday’s anniversary carries more than a twinge of sadness for fans of space exploration. For a brief few years, the Earth and moon were linked by a bridge built through ingenuity, technology and vast sums of taxpayer money.
A few men — only men, only white, all of them except for Dr. Schmitt from the U.S. military — had walked the narrow path across the cold and black and lived to tell the tale. Countless imaginary space futures had blossomed out from this point: spinning space stations, boots on Mars, humanity reaching toward the edge of the solar system. Then it all went up in one last plume of rocket exhaust.
This year, though, the anniversary of the Apollo 17 mission came twinned in time with a new set of lunar imagery in eye-popping high definition. A new NASA mission called Artemis I — Artemis being Apollo’s twin sister, in Greek myth — had finally jetted off to the moon last month with a few mannequins aboard. Once there, it orbited without landing and then sailed home without a hitch, plunking down safely in the Pacific on the same day, Dec. 11, that Schmitt and Cernan had touched down on the moon for the last time, a half-century earlier.
Artemis 1 didn’t land astronauts, and its expected follow-up, Artemis II, will only send a crew of four around the moon and bring them home. But these missions start the path for Artemis III, which should bring a new human crew down to the lunar surface later this decade, this time carrying a woman and a person of color. From a symbolic standpoint, at least, the message was clear: At long last, we’re really on our way back.
Clockwise from top left, the view of Earth during Apollo 17’s translunar coast; Orion unfurling its solar array on Nov. 16; Orion separating from its interim cryogenic propulsion stage; Orion taking a selfie; Apollo 17’s command module seen from the lunar module; ice and particles surrounding the lunar module during the transposition and docking maneuver.NASA
Apollo 17, like Artemis I, launched from Earth at night. It was a fitting setting for the figurative twilight of the Apollo program. “If this was a novel, it would be a scene that would be too ham-fisted,” said Lois Rosson, a historian of science at the University of Southern California.
That symbolism wasn’t missed, seven miles off what was known at the time as Cape Kennedy, where a cruise ship laden with space-age-era luminaries — the writers Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein and Norman Mailer, alongside scientists like Carl Sagan, Frank Drake and Marvin Minsky — had assembled as a focus group on the future of space exploration.
Many of these attendees felt Apollo’s cancellation showed the pitfalls of letting the government drive space exploration. The Vietnam War, the struggle against poverty and sagging public support had all placed Apollo and the grand designs of space enthusiasts in the cross hairs of Congress and the Nixon administration. Perhaps a more private, corporate space effort — not unlike SpaceX, which would emerge in the 2000s under Elon Musk — would be a better model.
“That’s where the seeds of that ideology first get planted,” Dr. Rosson said.
Clockwise from top left, the Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene A. Cernan, left, and Ronald E. Evans; the Artemis 1 crew commander Moonikin Campos; Orion’s final close approach to the moon on Dec. 5; Orion on Dec. 5 in an image taken from a camera mounted on one of its solar arrays; Apollo’s command and service modules during rendezvous on Dec. 14, 1972; the Copernicus crater, as seen by Apollo 17. NASA
On the moon, the astronauts had jobs to do. Apollo 17 hauled back more rocks than any other mission. At one point, the astronauts drove their lunar rover a record-breaking, terrifying-when-you-think-about-it 4.7 miles away from the sanctuary of their lunar module. In Dr. Schmitt, they also had the only trained geologist ever to walk on the lunar surface. “Nothing like putting yourself to sleep thinking about unrealizable dreams,” he wrote later, describing his state of mind after the last moonwalk.
The samples they and the preceding Apollo astronauts ferried back became foundational for lunar science. These rocks helped show, for example, that the moon probably formed after an extremely violent collision between baby Earth and another protoplanet. Lunar rocks from Apollo 17 also hinted that future astronauts might be able to hunt down resources like water and titanium, said David Kring, a planetary scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston.
Entire scientific careers have started and ended waiting for a successor mission like Artemis. “I have several colleagues who are just a little bit older than me, and they’ve had to retire before they see this,” Dr. Kring said.
Clockwise from top left, an “earthrise” seen by Apollo 17; Orion’s own “earthrise” on Dec. 5; the moon’s surface, as seen by Orion; Orion splashing down in the Pacific on Dec. 11; Apollo 17 splashing down on Dec. 19; Apollo 17’s own close-up view of the moon.NASA
Hope is now rising. Not that everyone loves Artemis; we have, of course, been to the moon before. The current plan to return dates to the Trump administration and was presented by President Donald J. Trump along with the idea of always putting America first. President Biden has embraced that timeline and framework, too.
The post-Apollo debate over who should lead space exploration rages on, too. Artemis I rode to space on an over-budget, oft-criticized megarocket built through NASA’s traditional model of managing private contractors. Artemis III, meanwhile, is booked for a moon landing on a new spacecraft under development using a commercial approach at SpaceX. Mr. Musk’s company has received contracts worth billions of dollars to provide lunar landers.
A half-century later, disagreements persist about why we go to the moon. Or how. Or whether we should even try. Yet it’s hard to see the new imagery and not feel something.
Apollo 17’s liftoff from the lunar surface on Dec. 14, 1972, the last time a human visited the moon.NASA
After lifting off, the Apollo 17 astronauts orbited the moon, then burned fuel to begin the trip back to the blue-green marble rising above the lunar horizon. It had been an unseasonably warm December in 1972. At that time, freshwater dolphins still swam in the Yangtze River, golden toads still hopped through the cloud forests of Costa Rica and there were more than two northern white rhinos alive.
Fast-forward 50 laps around the sun, when Artemis I captured a similar view during its last close approach to the moon before heading home, albeit of a crescent Earth another degree Fahrenheit hotter and with four billion more people. Engineers on the ground paused, gawking. “We just sat there and absorbed what we were looking at for about a minute, and the room was just absolutely silent,” said Mike Sarafin, the Artemis 1 mission manager at NASA.
“Some of what we’re living right now, with our brothers and sisters from Apollo, is that they’ve shared wisdom with us that we’re just now really appreciating,” Mr. Sarafin said.

ok so remember that fantasy au you were gonna make? ok well i got inspired by it and kinda made a spin off of it
fd1 is called the avion region (french for airplane)
alex is a cleric, clear is a mage, tod is an apothecary, carter is a hunter, billy is a knight, terry is a dancer, and valerie is scholar
the storyline goes, they have to find a gem in all the regions that will reunite all magic and defeat this guy called deces
alex, clear, and tod are a poly couple
billy and carter are a couple
alex has a cat familiar named destiny
fd2 is called the entasser region (french for pile up)
kim and burke are knights, eugene is a scholar, rory is a thief, kat is a cleric, clear is a savior, tim and nora are hunters, and evan is a merchant
same storyline, except alex pops in, stabs rory, and steals the feu gem
no couples, but kat mentions a girlfriend
kim has a butterfly familiar named angel
fd3 is called the rouleau region (french for roller)
wendy and julie are merchants, kevin is a knight, ashley and ashlyn are dancers, frankie is a thief, ian and erin are apothecaries, and lewis is a hunter
same storyline, but kim and burke help them out
all canon couples are couples here
wendy has an owl familiar named rosa
fd4 is called the degager region (french for clear)
ikikik, but i love this movie BECAUSE its awful
nick is an apothecary, lori is a merchant, janet is a hunter, hunt is a thief, george is a scholar, and andy is a knight
this storyline is a bit different, basically this region went to shit after their princess (clear) disappeared and they have basically no magic and are now ruled by that guy named deces
after they meet, nick and rory are a couple
janet and lori are a couple
racist carter doesnt exist
nick has a dog familiar named carmen
miscellaneous
after returning a gem, you are a savior
all characters carry over into the next region
deces can also be called fatimas
again, thank you for this idea! i would like your permission to turn this into a game?
This is incredible!!!
Do you mind if I add FD 5 to this?
I can totally imagine this being a RPG/Final Fantasy-type game!
Edit:
FD5 is called the Pont region (French for Bridge)
Nathan is a dancer, Molly is a cleric, Sam is a baker, Peter is a ranger, Dennis is a merchant, Olivia is a bard, Issac is a serf and Candice is a knight.
Olivia is the only bard in existence with an ability to shut the fuck up.
Sam and Molly are dating for the first half of things, and eventually break up to date Peter and Olivia.
Candice has been a knight ever since she was 14.
Peter burned the place Issac was bound to, he told me himself.
Sam has a dragonfly familiar named Jasper.

The Instagram post Evan Ross Katz sent to Jonathan as a link on email after the Spring Awakening reunion concert. The text from the post and some comments are below:
evanrosskatz
It was my freshman year at NYU when, around 4am every other Saturday, I’d wake up at 3:30am, lug myself into the shower and expeditiously make my way to the Eugene O'Neill Theater on 49th & 8th. Sometimes with friends, other times alone, always delirious. I’d wait until 10am in the cold of winter to secure a student rush ticket to SPRING AWAKENING, what was then a buzzy-but-not-yet-full-on hit musical. I became a total groupie, waiting at the stage door after each of these performances for an opportunity to meet the cast, get their autograph on my playbill and have the chance to have the truly out of body experience of telling them how profoundly they’d rewired my mainframe. I did what’s now my modus operandi with pop culture I love and made SPRING AWAKENING my personality. Last night, 15 years later, and with tickets a bit more expensive than they were back then, I attended a one night only reunion performance of the show. The entire OG company, including the band, together again. Grammy Award-winner Jonathan Groff (looking quite yoked, might I add), People's Choice Award-winner Lea Michele and Tony Award-winner John Gallagher Jr., along with the rest of this mega-talented ensemble. The ticketing system crashed and the performance began over an hour late. As Fred Armisen as Joy Behar always said: "So what? Who cares?" The cast, wholly committed to never aging, cried. We cried right along with them. It proved difficult to stop clapping after some of the night's most beloved bops and ballads ("Mama Who Bore Me (10 Minute Version)" when?). Everything about last night was magical. I was transported right back to 18-year-old me, who wrote Jonathan Groff a kinda sweet/kinda creepy fan letter, delivered to him in person at the stage door, in which I congratulated him and asked if he wanted to hang out. L O L. And he actually wrote me back! I have to imagine other loons like myself have similar stories. These were my Beatles and Groff was my Lennon, albeit the Yoko part I never quite secured. Needless to say, there is nothing better in this world than live theater. To quote the Act II number "The Guilty Ones”: This is a season for dreaming!
nicoletremaglio Wait I’m tearing up, I love your story 🥲 Jonathan Groff told me he liked my (fleece cheetah print) gloves when I saw the show in Feb 08 LOL
zachmadin I literally did the same thing, except he didn’t write me back 😢. I told my parents (who I saw the show with) my friend was going to meet me at the theater to walk to a bar together and little closeted me slipped him the note instead
sharp_designfx This is so wonderful! I participated in small summer theatre intensive in high school when that was on, and they came to chat with us. A cast member was a little dismissive, dream-crushing, and rude to us, but Jonathan Groff was SO kind. So encouraging and so friendly. And because that person killed our spirits a little, he overcorrected by offering to take us to tasty-d-lite. I still think about how kind, generous, and lovely he was to us and I'm old AF now. Sigh. Those arms, my God.

I agree that Taylor could get someone hotter than Joe but I don’t think she could get anyone better for her. I feel like it’s the same with Margot, she could date someone like Chris Evans but I don’t think anyone else would make her as happy as her husband does. It’s about more than just looks, and even then Taylor is obsessed with how Joe looks and I imagine is the same for Margot, they wouldn’t change them for the world
Exactly. They’re not participating in a eugenics project to make perfect babies right like they found people who make them happy. And Joe’s objectively handsome and Tom’s objectively above average. They’re not like slumming it tbh.

okay here it is, part 1 of my sci fi tv and movies rec list! i’ve split it up into 2, kind of by tone and theme. these recs are on the lighter side. part 2 is for fans of darker sci fi. i could’ve gone on tbh but i had to draw the line somewhere. it’s not perfect but i hope you find something you like that you haven’t heard of! full titles, trigger warnings, and diversity/general notes under the cut. ask box open for any more specific questions!
part 2/2
If you liked STAR TREK and STAR WARS:
Black Mirror: USS Callister: (tw: simulated child loss, brief torture) coworkers get trapped inside their boss’s Star Trek spoof video game. It’s led by a white woman but the entire cast is pretty diverse (Michaela Coel!!!) and it’s critical of white edgelords. Dark moments balanced with funny!
Firefly: (tw: sexual harassment in one episode, sex worker phobia, Joss Whedon-ness) I think this one is more well-known; a small space crew travels the solar system taking on any weird jobs they can get. Two leading WOC, a black man, one interracial relationship.
Avenue 5: (tw: some dark humor, language) Star Trek meets the Titanic. Funny! I’ll leave it at that. 3 leading WOC, a canonically pan main character in a poly and interracial relationship.
Black Mirror: Be Right Back: (tw: grief, partner loss) a woman’s SO dies and she simulates his resurrection through a software that scans his social media accounts. This one isn’t diverse but it’s an hour of Domhnall Gleeson, if he’s your thing!
Stargate: (tw: 90s/00s racism/sexism) tbh I haven’t watched most of the content but I’d say it’s on par with a Star Trek kind of thing. SGA stars two or three POC in a cast of like 7 regulars.
If you liked PACIFIC RIM:
Black Mirror: Hang the DJ: (tw: none that I can recall) a man and woman fall in love via dating app. It doesn’t have monsters, but it’s an incredibly charming episode that exhibits some of Black Mirror’s best qualities imo and I think people who like the Raleigh/Mako dynamic will like what these two have!! Interracial relationship between a black woman and a white man; black woman is blink-and-you-miss-it bi, but still canonically bi.
Cloverfield (tw: violence/blood, frequent flashes, shaky cam): found-footage flick about aliens attacking New York. Basic and not too diverse but it has the huge monster appeal and I like the found-footage aspect.
Edge of Tomorrow: (tw: VB) Groundhog Day alien apocalypse. it’s Tom Cruise buuuuut you get to see Emily Blunt at her most “I’ll end you”-est so like? Worth it I think??
Arrival: (tw: child loss) aliens come to Earth to offer something to the humans. A little slow, but definitely a different take and some cool-looking aliens.
The Host: (tw: child loss) A girl gets kidnapped by a huge river monster. it’s in Korean and all the characters are Asian. Directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Kang-Ho Song and Bae Doona!! Plus environmentalist commentary.
If you liked MARVEL and DC:
Misfits: (tw: sex, language, violence, rape) imagine one of those superhero teams like the Avengers except they’re all criminals who’ve given up on life and don’t actually care about making the world a better place. Chaotic stupid energy. Two black leads :)
Push: (tw: a few bloody scenes) Chris Evans before Cap?? Dakota Fanning before Twilight? Secret government experiments and black ops superpower organizations? You love to see it!
Fast Color: (tw: past drug use referenced) superpowers that pass down from generation to generation in a family of black women. Need I say more? Need I say any fucking more?!?!
Sense8: (tw: child loss, grief, lots of nudity and sex, drug use, language, infidelity) 8 people around the world start experiencing each other’s lives and borrowing each other’s skill sets. This is probably THE most intersectional and diverse show I have ever seen. An international cast and setting that reaches almost every continent, leading trans lesbian, multiple QPOC. Truly incredible and one of my absolute favorites.
Jupiter Ascending: (tw: bees) I actually don’t really like this movie but I do think it has its appeal and I appreciate how much it is just unabashedly itself. Don’t take it too seriously! The cast is kinda wild too--Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, Sean Bean, Channing Tatum!!! And it’s by the Wachowskis, AKA the two trans sisters who did The Matrix and Sense8!
If you liked THE HUNGER GAMES:
Gattaca: (tw: implied body modification, trichophobia, eugenics) in a society that discriminates against genes, a man with a heart condition assumes another’s identity in order to achieve his dream of becoming an astronaut. I love this movie. It’s very moody and soft with a really compelling dynamic between the two leading men which I’ve always read as gay.
Snowpiercer: (tw: VB, minor cannibalism) yet another winner from Bong Joon-ho, who’s surprised? All of humanity lives on a train in which all the cars are stratified by class. This is my favorite of all the movies from all the Chrises. Evans is by far my favorite Chris for this!!! It also features Octavia Spencer and Kang-Ho Song! Piping hot class war tea pre-Parasite.
V for Vendetta: (tw: torture, I don’t remember a lot of the details sorry!) I haven’t watched this movie in a minute so I don’t remember how much I actually liked it, but I thought it was worth mentioning because it’s a classic dystopian movie.
Children of Men: (tw: infertility, childbirth, VB) humanity has lost the ability to procreate for 2 decades until one day a resistance group discovers a pregnant woman. Holy crap so much extremely relevant and prescient commentary on immigration, race, class, and refugee crises!!!
Akira: (tw: disturbing imagery, objectification, nudity) I don’t really remember this one much either? But it’s Japanese, there’s biker gangs, and it’s super weird.
The 100: (tw: VB, kill your gays/POC trope, suicide, torture, child loss) 100 juvenile delinquents are dropped onto Earth and chaos ensues. I think most people know that this show is plagued with issues but it really does have a special place in my heart and I think it changed the conversation and standards re: the treatment of wlw in genre fiction. It starts off cheesy and slow but the stakes are SO high all the time and it’s full of thought-provoking ethical dilemmas.

Can Agatha remain levelheaded, or will fate turn her onto a new path?
Pairing: Dracula/Agatha Van Helsing
Rated: M
Read on FFN and AO3
A/N: Alright, my dear readers, as promised! Thank you so much for your support as usual! Feedback is greatly loved and appreciated whether it be comments/kudos/reblogs/etc... I adore hearing your thoughts! Anyway, onward to chapter four!
                                             Chapter Four
Hawkins and Wentworth Law Firm. Established in the late 1800's, representing Count Dracula since September 12, 1896. A partnership that led to the purchase of some property for the vampire along with an arrangement for his resettlement. The vampire had thought of everything. For well over a century, the man had continuous tricks up his sleeve and today the Foundation had served as his willing assistant. That damn tablet. Whoever gave it to him in the first place should be fired on the spot.
"So you see, by holding him here, you are encroaching on Count Dracula's rights."
Frank Renfield was a rather scrawny man. Nervous, the epitome of someone walking on eggshells. His outfit was rather washed out, almost a little too baggy to fit his body properly. Agatha lost count of how many times he pushed his glasses back up to the brim of his nose. He certainly wasn't the ideal lawyer she would've pictured, but she reluctantly gave him credit for how prepared he was.
"He's a murderer!" She tried to argue, gesturing at Dracula who merely grinned in response. "You do realize what he is?!"
"Oh yes, of course!" Frank nodded vigorously, clearing his throat. "But my point stands. He is being held against his will and if he isn't released by tonight, my client is willing to take legal actions. And," the lawyer gave an awkward smile. "I'm not sure if all of England is ready to learn that a vampire is among the population."
"In other words, we're supposed to set him free and just trust that his actions remain civil?" Bloxham countered, folding her arms. "I think not."
"Actually, we did speak on that over Skype." The attorney responded looking over to the vampire as he spoke. "Based on Dracula's prior cases, there is a deal we are willing to make with you. A compromise if you will."
"What makes you think you have the upper hand in deciding this?!" The scientist frowned, eyes fixated on Frank's. "Why do you get to make the decisions?"
"No matter how you look at it, Dr. Bloxham, Count Dracula will be freed tonight." Renfield said firmly, pushing his glasses up again. "We thought it only fair to make some sort of offer to appease the Foundation. Are you interested in listening?" Neither of the women interjected so he continued. "Count Dracula will be freed but he is more than happy to be occasionally checked in on. Think of it as a parole of sorts."
"He's willing for someone to keep tabs on him? Agatha questioned, finally reentering into the conversation. "What's the catch?"
"There is no catch, I assure you," the lawyer explained. "Well...it's interesting actually." His nervous chuckle didn't settle well with the former nun. "He'll agree to these terms IF you are the one to supervise him."
It only happened every so often, but Agatha Van Helsing found herself at a loss for words. She stared dumbfounded at the lawyer who sheepishly smiled through thin lips. There was no arguing. No chance of being heard. Before she could even utter a single word in, Bloxham answered for her.
"Agatha would be more than happy to accept those terms."
Bloxham stared at her as if almost daring her to say otherwise. Frank beamed, opening up his briefcase. "Brilliant!" He expressed, looking from one woman to the other. "Now that we are all on the same track, if we could just fill out some documents. Just some formalities really. You know, just because this is a legal case and we like to keep records on file."
As the scientist led the lawyer away, Agatha finally turned to meet Dracula's gaze. He was smirking at her, obviously delighted by it all. A part of her wanted to race over and open the ceiling, but somehow she refrained despite how marvelous it sounded. He had played her like a fiddle and he knew it. Oh if she could just stake him in the heart...what a satisfying thought.
"I'd like to think of this as a beautiful start to our friendship," Dracula commented. "I had a feeling the Harker Foundation would be breathing down my back because of this, but what better way to soothe this fine institution's concerns than to allow you to be my figurative probation officer?"
"Just because you like to assume that you're very clever doesn't mean you are all that you give yourself credit for." Agatha countered, folding her arms over her chest. "I'm not playing into your game, Count Dracula."
"Oh, but I think that you already are." And his low tone sent a shiver up her spine. "I know your kind, Agatha Van Helsing. And I may not know you fully yet, but I will. I have my ways. And when I do…" His smirk broadened. "I expect we'll be sharing quite the exhilarating experience."
"Go to Hell." It was the best insult that came into her mind at the time.
"My chariot is a two seater," the Count replied. "I'll make sure to keep a spot open for you."
                                                        XXX
"Eugene says his big brother said that if you make a face long enough, it'll get stuck like that!" Zoe informed her aunt as she kicked her legs, sending her higher on the swing set. "Why do you look so grumpy?"
Agatha looked up from the book she was attempting to read on the bench. After picking Zoe up from school, she took the little girl to the park. At least there maybe she could clear her head. Setting the novel down in her lap, she looked towards the orange horizon. The sun was beginning to set. Only a few hours now.
"First, Eugene's brother is wrong. Faces don't get stuck," she stated. "And I'm not grumpy, I just had a hard day at work. I'm a little tired, that's all."
"Oh." And Zoe fell silent for a moment, still pumping her legs hard. She was flying so high, Agatha was beginning to grow concern about the chains breaking. "Was Dracula there? Did you talk to him?" The woman visibly stiffened at the name but the girl didn't seem to notice. "I told my friends I met a real vampire, but they didn't believe me. Evan said I was a liar. But I'm not lying, am I?"
Thank God Zoe was only seven with a wild imagination. No one took kids really seriously at that age. Still, perhaps it wasn't good for her to mention him. Quite frankly, she didn't even want to hear his name right now. Grabbing her book, she stood up. It was getting late anyway.
"Let's not talk about him anymore, Zoe." Agatha replied. "How about we finish up here and get some ice cream, hm? I'm in the mood for some." It wasn't exactly the truth, but she knew how to quickly change her niece's train of thought. "What do you say?"
"Two scoops?!" The girl asked with excitement, leaping off the swing.
"One, and you can get it with sprinkles." Agatha said, reaching to take a hold of the little girl's hand. "I think both need it after today." Though a tall glass of something alcohol sounded more appealing. "Let's go."
It wasn't a long drive to the parlor and after getting their cones, they were back on the road. Through the rear view mirror, Agatha watched in dismay as vanilla ice cream dribbled down Zoe's coated mouth onto her shirt and seat belt. Perhaps she should've grabbed a handful of napkins when she had the chance.
"Can we watch a movie tonight?" The little girl asked in between licks. "I promise I'll go to bed right afterwards!"
Well, considering she was already hyped up on sugar, getting her to sleep now would be near impossible. Agatha looked through the mirror again and towards the sky. Nearly dark. His freedom was drawing nearer. Trying not to think about it, she gave into Zoe's demand.
"We can watch a movie," she agreed. "But then you have to go to sleep without arguing."
"Yes, ma'am!" Zoe exclaimed, giving her aunt a salute. "I promise!"
Agatha made a point of locking the door as she and a very sticky Zoe entered the house. As her niece went to wash up, the former nun retrieved her phone from her purse. She hadn't exactly discussed what had happened with Jack. When their lunch was interrupted earlier, Bloxham seemed more concerned with her than the doctor. Dialing his number, she held the device to her ear. It immediately went to voicemail. Frowning, she set it down. She'd try again later when Zoe was asleep.
"All clean!" The little girl called out causing Agatha to snap back into reality. "And in my jammies! C'mon, Aunt Aggie, let's watch something…" She seemed to think about it. "How about something spooky?!"
"How about something that doesn't give you nightmares?" Her aunt chuckled, moving over to sit beside the little girl. "How about one of those princess movies you like?"
"Princesses are boring." Zoe exclaimed, rolling her eyes.
"But you love princesses," Agatha said with a small frown. "You wanted one for your birthday this year."
"I like vampires now." The young girl proclaimed.
Her aunt was about to interject when the sound of her doorbell going off stopped her. Furrowing her brow, Agatha rose from the couch and made her way towards the door. Was it Jack? An odd hour to be making a house call. As she turned the knob to open it, she immediately regretted her decision. For there, standing nonchalantly in front of her was none other than the Devil himself. Count Dracula.
Speechless. Completely, utterly dumbfounded. She must've looked ridiculous, standing there gawking at the man she'd seen locked up only hours before. Agatha's mouth was so dry that even if she wanted to say something, she couldn't. Silence.
"Well? You know how this works, don't you?" The moonlight glinted off of Dracula's smile as he stood at Agatha's doorstep patiently. "Are you going to invite me in?"
So many questions. An entire novel's worth. She began to rifle through them, trying to decide which of the several were the most important to bring up first. Agatha blocked the doorway, her eyes narrowing as she stared daggers at the vampire.
"How the Hell did you find my house?!" It seemed like a logical inquiry all things considered.
"Googled it." He shrugged, looking as if he was very proud of himself. "You'd be surprised by the lack of Van Helsings in the area. Oh." He held up one finger before shoving a hand into his pocket. "And this helped too." It was Jack's phone.
"You..." Agatha stumbled, struggling between insulting or going off completely. "You stole Jack's phone and then decided it was okay to stalk me to my home?!" "I didn't stalk you." The vampire corrected. "I merely followed your address." He inhaled, still seeming unfazed by Agatha's aggravation. "Are you going to let me in?" "I..." She began before the sound of small feet came bounding in her direction. Zoe. Christ.
"Aunt Aggie!" The girl chirped. "You gotta put a movie in! You're..." Her blue eyes widen at the sight of Dracula. "Mr. Dracula!"
"Zoe, go to your room." Agatha said coolly, trying to block the little girl's view. "Dracula was just leaving-"
"Wanna come in and watch the movie with us?!"
Agatha was unsure whether to face palm, cry out in frustration, or just go dig a hole and bury herself in it as Dracula grinned widely and stepped into her home. All thanks to Zoe's innocent invitation inside. How thoughtful.
"Thank you for the generous offer, Zoe." Dracula said kneeling down to the girl's eye level. "But I'm here to actually talk to your Aunt Aggie."
Agatha swept in front of the two glowering at the vampire as he straightened up. Zoe peered from behind her aunt, looking curiously at the towering Count. His expression, still friendly, was no longer focused on her, but now met her aunt's gaze.
"Get out," Agatha growled. "I rescind your invitation."
"Ah, as much as I'm sure you'd like that, it doesn't work that way." His smile turned into a smirk as he leaned against the wall. "You see, it was dear Zoe who invited me in. Not you. And while this is your house, she lives here too. So unless your niece wants me to leave, I think I'll stay for a bit." His eyes flickered down to the little girl again. "Can I stay, Zoe?"
"Zoe," Agatha said through her teeth. "Tell him to leave. Now."
"How about a little incentive. Say...five pounds?" Dracula whipped the money from his pocket and dangled it in front of her like a dog. "It's yours if I can stay."
The little girl smiled and, without a word, snatched the money and hurried off to put it in her piggy bank. Dracula grinned, delighted by his accomplishment as he turned back to face an enraged Agatha. What a cheat. The woman's arms folded tightly over her chest as she watched with fury as he made his way over to the kitchen table.
"You're a real prick." She hissed as he sat down. "You have no right to even talk to her-or bribe her for that matter! She's seven!"
"She's smart," Dracula sighed contentedly, leaning back. "Won't you join me? Take a seat, Agatha, I merely came here to talk." He laced his fingers together, hands resting on the table. "We've both had quite a day today, haven't we?"
Agatha didn't sit down. Instead, she just stared at him. Hard. As if maybe, if she concentrated hard enough, he'd just poof away. Or explode. That would've been better. He, of course, waited patiently for her reply and soon the former nun realized that, unless she addressed him, he wouldn't be leaving any time soon.
"Why are you here?" It was a repetitive question and she knew it.
"To talk," he replied. "You practically stormed out the moment my dear lawyer and that boss of yours discussed everything over with you. You can be quite difficult, I'm learning. But we can work on that," he smiled. "Could I trouble you for a piece of paper and a pen?"
"Why?" Agatha asked curtly.
"So I can write down my address for you," the Count rolled his eyes. "Goodness, Agatha, for a Van Helsing, I thought you would be more dedicated in wanting to locate me. Do you know how hard your grandfather tried? I am literally giving you directions to my home. You should be more appreciative."
Offering his address. Such a cordial act. What his motive was behind it, she wasn't sure. But Agatha remembered Bloxham's request-or rather, mandatory instructions, and she begrudgingly got what he asked for. Tossing them roughly onto the table, the former nun watched as he scribbled his information down in a surprising elegant font.
"I included my number as well." Dracula exclaimed, holding the paper out to her. "Go on, take it. I don't bite." And there was a glint of mischievousness in his eyes as he spoke the last bit. "I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of copying down your own cell number from your friend's phone." With that, he neatly slid Jack's device across the table. "Apologize to him, will you? I'm sure he's frantically looking for it."
Agatha immediately snatched it up and shoved it into her pocket. Hopefully he hadn't tampered with it to the point of it being useless. As for the paper, she hesitantly took it, eyes studying the words scrawled across. Almost instantly she recognized the street. Even the name of the complex. Nostrils flared, she gazed up at the Count wide eyed.
"There must be some mistake." She snapped, looking from him back down to the paper. "This is only a few blocks from where I live!"
"It seemed only appropriate seeing as you are supposed to be keeping an eye on me." Dracula said in a hair tearingly calm voice. "It was an added bonus that it sits at the perfect location. How coincidences can be rather humorous." He continued to smile, the same look that had yet to leave his face. "You should come by some time. Perhaps for dinner?"
If she was to kill him now, right on the spot, would anyone really mind? Jack certainly wouldn't tell. Bloxham might be rather annoyed, but all things considered, she could kiss Agatha's ass. Then there was his lawyer-Frank. She could figure something out. But then deep down, way deep down at this point, the Van Helsing side of her wanted to learn more. Desired to know more. And by destroying the vampire where he currently stood would take away from that.
"I prefer not to partake in the slaughtering of innocent human life." The woman replied coldly. "And I intend to make sure you do the same." For a brief moment, the amusement faltered from Dracula's face. "You're in the modern world, Count Dracula. Drinking people dry is frowned upon by society. I assure you, whatever it takes, your last victim will have been in 1897. I swear upon my great, great grandfather's name."
"He's dead," the vampire said with a cocked eyebrow. "I believe you are supposed to swear on the live's of the living…say that darling Zoe of yours?"
He struck a major pressure point and Dracula very well knew it. Agatha's gaze darkened and she leaned dangerous close to his face. If he wanted, the Count could've easily snapped her neck within a second. Instead, he merely eyed her with curiosity.
"If you ever lay one of your clawed fingers on a single hair on her head, I will destroy you where you stand." Agatha hissed with such ferocity even she was a little taken aback. "Don't threaten my child."
"I have no intention to," Dracula said, holding up a hand. "But your aggressive protectiveness is a rather charming quality if I do say so myself."
"As charming as a crucifix burned into your bare flesh," she shot back.
"Kinky," Dracula chuckled. "My, you are quite an anomaly, Agatha Van Helsing."
"What's kinky?"
Both adults turned to see Zoe standing there eyeing them with great interest. Her head was tilted ever so slightly and in her arms she hugged one of her stuffed animals. Jesus Christ, not again. He'd been awake for a day. ONE day. And he already was corrupting her niece's mind with such vulgar language.
"Nothing." She said, eyes locked on Dracula's as she spoke. "And I don't want to hear you repeating it."
"Oh, a bad word." Zoe nodded thoughtfully. "Are we going to watch a movie now?"
"Actually," Dracula began as he stood up. "I suppose I should be leaving now. It's getting rather late-or, I should say, becoming too close to early for my comfort." He strode towards the door as Agatha remained at the table, Zoe by her side. "I'll be seeing you soon, Agatha." He grinned, his eyes flickering down to the little girl. "And thank you for inviting me in, Zoe. I much appreciated that."
Agatha said nothing as the vampire opened the door and slipped outside. After she was sure he was gone, she hurried over and locked the dead bolt. Running a hand through her hair, she let out a long, hard exhale. Zoe walked over to her, an ever present happy expression on her young face.
"I like him!" She stated cheerfully.
That only made one of them.
