You know what I like about 911 and 911 Lone Star.

These shows aren't making the ships the Fandom like, such as Buddie or Tarlos, constantly bickering.

For instance, In Hawaii Five-O, McDanno wasn't canon, but the Fandom shipped them because of their chemistry but also became of how "loving" their (car)gument were to see. They fight but always came back to each other.

Same with Rizzoli & Isles. Jane and Maura were so opposite of each other, but they fit so well together. Not everyone in the Fandom saw them as a couple, but the way the writers wrote them, made it feel like they wanted to make the Fandom ship them to an extent. They were for the most part in agreement with each other on most things, but they would still sometimes disagree and bicker about small things.

And the same with NCIS. The way they wrote DiNozzo; he's always bickering with his love interests. DiNozzo and Todd didn't end up together in the show, but their constant flirting and little playful argument made me as a fan want to ship them. They even did that with DiNozzo and Ziva. The moment they introduced Ziva it was a constant back and forth with DiNozzo, and that eventually lead them to be a couple. (I think they made it Canon in the show. I'm only at Season 4 for NCIS)

It's a rarity when a show have the both love interests be on the same level and not constantly be arguing.

The Rookie was successful with not making Tim and Lucy have constant bickering. Yes, they disagreed with each other, but their disagreement wasn't a "highlight" of their relationship. However, at first, they weren't at the same level. Tim was Lucy's training officer. They couldn't be together due to their power dynamic. Therefore, Tim had to stop being a TO and Lucy had to move up in her career in order to make their relationship work.

Tommy doesnt want Buck (at least romantically) he wants to be him, this is the second or maybe even third time that he says that he’s jealous.

He wanted Eddie but he settled to have Bucks body instead but I feel like he’s aiming to BE him and have what he has: his house, the 118, his relationship with Eddie omg who said that, a loving family... To his core he doesn't give a fuck about Buck as a person or he wouldn't make disgusting "jokes" and dip as soon as Buck is not available (their first date) he doesn't GET him and he to be honest, doesn't care to.

He's also patronising him, he's infantilizing him, hypersexualizing him and Buck really does not deserve that, no one deserves that. if that's the kind of queer representation you want and desire for i think that you need serious therapy. And last thing if Buck was a woman and her new boyfriend told her that he would be stoned (as he should).

Saw a post that Tommy is Abby 2.0 & that feels SO REAL (older & more mature, introducing Buck to a different way of thinking, knows the job intimately, not quite as into him as he is into them 🫣).

I’m not saying he’s not staying longer than planed but with Oliver you have to also take his interviews with many grains of salt. Like love him to death but he also says things like this about every possible LI he gets. Just look at the last few interviews from season 6 where he was going on about the future of Buck and Natalia and how excited he was is to see it play out in season 7 and explore their dynamic etc. and then we all saw what happened with that lol.

to be fair, when he said those things, Fox hadn't cancelled 9-1-1 yet & ABC hadn't picked it up. for all he figured, Buck & Natalia could've been something in s7 had it been on fox and things didn't play out the way they did. & I don't blame him for saying things like this about every LI cuz I'm sure he prob hopes at least 1 will stick around for some time. Buck has certainly drawn the short end of the stick as far as LI's go, but Tommy is incredibly different than any of his past LI's and, frankly, whether you like BuckTommy or not, it'd be stupid to just brush him aside when this pairing allows for a ton of new, rich storylines that they can tell.

And isn't getting Buck off that hamster wheel Kristen put him on in seasons 5 & 6 the entire point of this?

Buck promptly finds himself part of the Ohana. Danny *worries*. And then decides if Grace is leaving Hawaii for college, she'd better go to LA so he can keep an eye on her via Buck.

Just realized that in 3 weeks (the season just started here) my kinda homophobic parents will see Buck kiss a man, and for a moment I got worried they'll be like "why they gotta make everything gay now?"

But then I remembered 4 years ago when S3 ended with Buck and Eddie single, and my mom wondered out loud who Buck was gonna end up with(since Eddie had that moment with Ana), and my dad, who never makes gay jokes, just said "He should end up with Diaz lol"
