Had this idea in my head a few days ago.

I could see Molly and Scratch being the types who would prefer the original animated Disney films to the live action remakes (like most people), but they give some of the remakes a watch out of amusement/curiosity.

So it’s some time around (or after) the end of season 1 that they choose to watch the 2017 Beauty and the Beast. Molly is amused by it (but isn’t happy with some choices) while Scratch doesn’t care for it and makes no hesitation to voice his criticism of a few things.

However, they get to the part in the movie where ‘Evermore’ plays…. and it hits a little too close to home for Scratch who starts to freak out. They have to stop the movie and Molly asks him what’s wrong.

Scratch confesses that the song reminded him of when Molly and her family were forced to leave the house and leave him all alone, and by that point he had grown used to her being in his afterlife. He didn’t care about being alone for years, but when Molly was forced to leave, he was badly missing her and wanted her and her family back. (And if what the writers said about them being gone for a month is canon, then that really did a number on him). He probably doesn’t say it, but he’s also reminded of how much of a positive influence Molly has been for him.

Then Molly understands and hugs and comforts Scratch. She reassures him that she’ll always be there for him and won’t let him go through that again.

no but what really gets me is the DELIVERY of the line. (im continuing my rambling from these tags) it’s the DELIVERY of the line that’s so good. the way he sings “i let her steal into my melancholy heart,” there’s such a DISDAIN for it. he’s ANGRY. he didn’t WANT to fall in love but he FOOLISHLY let his guard down and let her into his heart. he’s tried so hard to keep his walls up because every time he loved someone before, he lost them or they hurt him and he’s just so fed up. “i rage against the trials of love, i curse the fading of the light,” he’s SO ANGRY!!! i just love how much it infuriates him, what belle’s done to his heart. what she does to him constantly. torments him, calms him, hurts him, moves him, inspires him, is a part of EVERYTHING HE DOES. she has become the very sun that he cannot help but orbit around. she’s become the center of everything, she lives in his heart; his cold, frigid, melancholy heart. he let her make a home there and he can’t deny it any longer. she has become everything to him, and it’s so much more than he can bear.

Number 27, 'Beast', is a tribute to 'Beauty and the Beast' from 1991.

They made a real life adaptation in 2017 where Dan Stevens plays prince Adam / Beast, and I think one of my favourite songs from the movie is 'Evermore'.
