This legacy is based on the same one by @sweetlysimss who very graciously gave me permission to try my hand at converting the challenge for TS3. It's not perfect but I tried my best to stick to the original rules and try and make it fun!

Rules:

This challenge can be played with vanilla, banilla, or berry sims

As per the challenges this is based on, the romance options are a mix between those in the BPR or NSB, allowing  you to choose which you’d like (or mix them up if you wish!)

There is an optional generational challenge to paint/take a photo of your heir for every generation

The generational requirements do not need to be strictly followed/can be changed as you see fit - the important thing is to have fun!

Generation 1: White

You come from a long line of privileged sims. Life was easy for you and you never wanted for nothing. Despite the easy life, you also felt constricted, unable to be yourself. Now that you’re a young adult, you decide to break free from your parents and pursue your own dreams. Packing your bags, and taking enough money to get by with you, you run away to the old, rundown, farmhouse that the only grandparent you cared for left you in the will. Starting off with nearly nothing to your name, you decide to pursue the hobby you were never allowed to chase to its extent: painting. Due to your upbringing, you find it difficult to let other sims in and may come across as rude sometimes. What you really need is that one special sim to make you feel like it’s all worth it. Slowly but surely, as the years go by, your own family starts to grow, but life is not without its ups and downs…

Recommended traits: artistic, snob, grumpy, hopeless romantic

Career: none; make money through your paintings, fishing, and harvestables

Move into your grandparent’s old house. Must be fairly basic/rustic (the size of the house/lot is up to you)

Max the painting, gardening, and logic skills

Have multiple romantic interests throughout your life, but do not settle permanently with any of them until after you have your first child.

In your late teens, you start to notice those traits are working against you, causing others to call you “weird” or “different”, so you adapted. PINK LOVERS OF THE WORLD, ASSEMBLE!

This is a poll tournament for original characters- Specifically, for characters who are PINK! If you have an OC who's dedicated their aesthetic to that classic Barbie Doll Pink, this is the OC tournament for you!

RULES:

1: Your character's palette, obviously, must primarily be Pink. Ideally it should be your OC's primary color, but I'll accept characters who's palettes are at least 50% pink (like, if your character is mostly pink AND purple, as long as its distributed equally I'll allow it.) It does not have to be any particular shade of pink, it can be more red, less red, bright and hot, light and pastel, etc, as long as it can easily be read as pink and not another color!

2: The character you submit must be yours. You cannot submit other people’s characters for them. If the character is shared between two or more people, all owners must sign off on submitting them into the competition.

3: Fandom OCs are NOT allowed. We all love fandom OCs, but for this competition I don’t want fandom bias to get in the way. The character must come solely from your own mind. It can draw inspiration from other media, but it must still be an original character.

4: Please avoid triggering subjects. Serious topics in characters stories/backstories is fine, but please avoid submitting characters who’s stories involve bigotry, sexual violence, or anything else that might warrant a serious content warning. While there is a time and a place for exploring those topics, this is not it. This is supposed to be lighthearted!

5: While you can submit multiple characters separately, only one OC can be selected for the tournament. This is to avoid one person having multiple chances to win. This also means you cannot submit groups or multiple characters who are paired together. Every match up should be one on one!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Propaganda is allowed and encouraged! Once the characters have been selected and announced, there will be a period before the actual match ups start where people can submit propaganda! This can come from the creators of the OC’s or even from friends of the creator who are familiar with the OC in question, if they so choose! Hey, folks! 

In the last update, I detailed the techniques used to port the levels from the old GameMaker version of Meander Forth to the Godot engine.

I had hoped to have a playable build of the game ready for patrons by the time this post rolled around, but it's not quite ready yet. There are still some finishing touches and known issues I need to work out. I can safely say it will be available soon, however!

In the meantime, here are some updates regarding the game:

Outskirts Progress:

First and foremost, I've made some more headway on the outskirts stage, populating it with NPC's and story events!

As the opening stage of the game, the Outskirts area serves as an introduction to the game's mechanics, world, story, and characters.

It opens with a scene of three friends (Isaak the human, Scotty the fox, and Garret the otter) getting reacquainted after some time apart.

As the stage progresses, Garret bumps into a variety of quirky characters, such as his sister Emerald and his brother Parlo, who seem elated that Garret is finally out-and-about.

If you've played the Teak's Tall Tale demo, you may recognize some familiar faces! Meander Forth picks up right where that one left off.

It seems Garret's friends are worried about something, however. It must be important, if they have their own cutscene areas!

Not everyone has some long-winded diatribe, of course. Some just spout what's on their mind. And that's okay.

Admittedly, this stage has a lot of dialog. In fact, it probably has the most out of any stage in the game! Despite the blocky aesthetic, my goal is to create a world that feels "alive." I want players to really get a sense of what this world means to Garret... and what it means for it to be stolen away from him.

Godot 4.3

Since the last update, I have upgraded the game's engine from Godot 4.2 to Godot 4.3.  The previous version had a lot of issues regarding pixel art positioning and scaling, causing art on the screen to shimmer and jitter. 4.3 fixes this issue, giving the game a smoother feel.

A by-product of this update is that the framerate can now be uncapped without introducing ugly visual artifacts. An option to choose your desired framerate will be added to the settings menu for those with faster monitors.

School Stuff

As of the writing of this post, the Fall 2024 semester of my college has begun! Admittedly, I'm taking this semester off from school. I have completed all-but-two of the classes in my program, and neither of them will be available until Spring.

Thankfully, I have been allowed to continue my front-desk job at the school's tutoring center, so I will be able to support myself with that, and even work on some STEM-related projects such as this one in the downtime.

Admittedly, development may slow down a bit as I get adjusted, but rest assured the pace will pick back up when I get used to the new schedule.

1. What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?

Well I think the main lesson is about life and death, and how humanity can change things even whitout the help of powerful entities. Believing in them can give hope, but can also ve dangerous only trusting into someone else to get things done. At a certain point you have to just get put there and do your own thing too

2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?

The five islands in U'nyon-he are based on five real life cultures (Germanic, Scandinavian, Arab, Chinese, Aztec). For the details I got inspired a lot by the way Genshin Impact did the landscapes, animals, people, shops, food. I loved te level of depth it was put in and I took notes to try and replicate it.

3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, and help readers grow as a person?

I do not really have a MC, rather five Oc's whit their pov's in the whole book up until the point they meet each other. They are trying to get the respective five islands to get out of being closed off and isolated, so that everyone can be more free. Alongside that goal, each of them has their own thing they want to achieve.

Personally I am just trying to make them live. Sometimes I feel like they are begging to have their story told, and I am just complying.

4. How many chapters is your story going to have?

I am not sure about it. Maybe 32? But there could be more

5. Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

It's original content. I would like to publish it one day, but I am not sure if I will succeed. And obviously I will post snippets here and there on tumblr!

6. When and why did you start writing?

The first thing I wrote was a newspaper with invented news when I was 7. I think I was bored at school, so I just decided to make something fun at home instead.

7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers on Tumblr do you follow?

The first draft is only just that: a first draft! You are allowed to suck at it, to miss names, to put [get there] for bits you still are not sure what to write in. There are second and third draft for that all to make more sense! So don't get discouraged by it, and don't give up even if you feel words are not flowing right and there is something wrong in your work! It's only temporary and you will solve it all later!

For the ask game!

1, 3, and 4 for the oldest oc you've made! (creation not age)

(Not mad nor any ill will towards you <3 but I have history with the question of oldest/first oc I made. I've been asked that multiple times in a row lol)

I'm gonna answer this for Jetter/Peaches (she/her) bc she's pretty old at this point and still in use! Also bc I thought her creative journey is worth documenting! (I'm actually working on a design timeline post for her!)

1 - what was the first element of your character you remember considering? (name, backstory, appearance ect)

Umm appearance I'm pretty sure, I remember really vividly imagining her presence and everything back when she made her debut in the rp where she was created (or created for). Idk about backstory but as an element of her character I also obviously had her status in-story very strongly in mind right from the get go since she was basically introduced as "Here's that authority figure of our characters' group oooooooh". So like to sum up, the first thing was just her presence and vibe (Tall, intimidating/mysterious looking, quiet and formal but turns out she's actually nice and sweet off hours but isn't allowed to show that)

3 - How did you choose their name?

It's half "Sounded cool" And half "This warrior has a very grim name bc of in story lore" (cracks knuckles). Jetter, legal name assigned at birth, is derived from an in world weapon, a sort of rocket launched bomb, which are categorized by color according to how dangerous/destructive they are. The most destructive ones are black (called Black Jets), and her parents were like "Ah yes our son shall be named something great to represent his strength and power, I'm sure he'll grow up into a mighty warrior!". So it's like, she's black (the color black, not a poc, she's not a human) and they expect great things from her. I've considered changing this part of the lore bc there's a conflict between me liking the name Jetter purely bc of how it sounds in my mouth, but knowing that the character herself would have baggage over the name and if given the chance might change it. FYI she's a trans woman who grew up in a society where everyone of her class has to be strong and are automatically assumed to be more aggressive and tough by nature, whereas she's actually a very gentle, peace loving soul. Sure, she has aggression obviously, but she hates being branded by violence and being labeled something dangerous.

Now the second thing, Peaches. Back when i made the decision to trans her gender I wondered if she'd want to change her name and if so, to what? I remembered her fav fruit, Peaches, and it just felt. Cute. I'm still really really attached to her og name which is why I keep referring to her as Jetter/Peaches (also bc she hasn't canonically changed her name yet so it's not incorrect either. It's still wip). I thought maybe she'd just be called J for short, which I've also been doing. Oops I pretty much answered this already in the prev question 😅 the name is so intrinsically tied to her lore and original world. But definitely absolutely the fact that she was born into the warrior "caste" in her kingdom, that has shaped so so much of her person. The expectations, prejudice and stereotypes, the mold she was forced to fit, the authority position she was put in which put her one step up in the oppression ladder but only so that she'd be punching down on her own kind and not by choice. And still always be looked down upon by her superiors no matter how intelligent and sophisticated she became. Yea heavy stuff. I'm trying to rework alot of this with my current understanding of these topics. But I'm talking about the (kinda touchy) past here. It's a delicate subject for me but I like to think that my disgust towards how I handled it (and the company that reinforced all that) indicates my growth as a person. There's some stuff here I've left out, for good reason. Makes me uncomfortable. Your Name: Scad

Characters: Angel Milano, Darius Deamonne, Luisa Madrigal

Pick one of your characters and talk about their growth (we recommend choosing an older character, but it’s up to you!) What about their story has surprised you? What are you proud of? How have they changed from their original inception to now?

Angel is technically my oldest babe (by a month lol) and even though it hasn't been much time, I've been surprised at where she's gone! While I originally pictured her as extremely closed off and guarded, she's been much more open to letting her guard down, perhaps against her own will. She wants to make connections despite herself and is often having that inner battle of how much of herself she reveals, and how attached she lets herself become. She's also developed a competitive/sporty streak that I hadn't originally envisioned, which has created for some fun scenarios and dynamics.

What I am proud of is introducing a character who is completely new and untethered to any of the established lore, and slowly etching her into the fabric of Swynlake. I am usually much more likely to play it safe by playing a character who at least has some connections (Darius, Luisa, basically most characters I'm thinking of playing lol) so playing Angel was a bit of a risk but I'm happy with the relationships she's developing! I think she could go in some really interesting directions.

Pick another character (or the same character if you only have one) and talk a little about where you WANT them to go. What are your plans for them going into the new year? 

Luisa is my latest babe and I'm so excited to see where she goes! Obviously, her big arc is going to be learning how to prioritize life outside of her work, especially when it comes to making connections and taking care of herself. Despite being in this huge family and constantly helping out just about everyone in Swynlake, she hasn't allowed herself to make deep connections. She's a Madrigal, but she's almost always out of the loop. She's always at the gym, but she's not a Gym Rat. She hears about everything that happens, but is never involved in any of it. So she not only needs to start getting involved, but she also has to confront her personal demons that are keeping her from taking those first steps. I think this will end up being done in both familial and platonic (perhaps even romantic?) relationships across the board. I'm excited to see where it goes!

Pick a thread or a plot that you’re proud of and talk about why you loved it. 

I think I'm going to say everything that I've done with Darius and Willow. They were not a dynamic I was expecting out of the Boiling Isles gang but it has truly been a delight to see where it has gone. In the span of only a few months, he's basically gone to pseudo-adopting her and acting like a third, barrier dad to do damage control with her other dads. I think it's not only good for Willow to have more adult support in her life but it's honestly sooooo good to make Dadrius real. Let me be Dadrius to all the childrens.

I'm going to talk about it more in the next question, but playing family is one of my favorites and unexpected found family is just some of the best. Love it, 10/10.

In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 things you love to write about (metaphors? Sibling relationships? Physical description?) and talk about why you enjoy it! 

Family!! Parents, siblings, cousins, found family, I love it all. I just think its such an interesting and unique dynamic that is so often left out of roleplay just by the nature of the genre. Everyone has their own OCs, so more than likely the families are going to be largely NPCs, with the intricacies, dynamics, and dramas all in your own head. Finding someone else who wants to have their own OC that is also inextricably tied to yours is very special to me. It allows you to build that dynamic together and play it out in real time, which is just exciting and fun.

Dialogue!! I feel like it's super obvious in my writing how much I favor dialogue over everything else lmfao. It's just such a great way to let your characters shine and it is quite literally the vehicle for forming relationships with other characters! Inner dialogue can be just as fun, especially when explaining a character's thought process and the things they cannot say out loud. Personally, it's one of my favorites and I think one of my strongest points in writing, so I tend to lean into it a lot. Instead of actually improving everything else lmaooo.

Set up and pay off!! To me, there is nothing better than paying off something you set up ages ago. Whether it's briefly mentioning something in a casual thread that comes up in a BIG WAY later in a more dramatic thread, I just think it is so satisfying to have laid down the crumb trail that clearly leads where it's supposed to. Of course this can't always happen--sometimes things just surprise you! And that can honestly be just as good. But when you spend so much time building up something, it makes it all the more gratifying when it actually happens.

What major updates have your characters gone through this year? (For example: beginning/ending a relationship, moving, starting a new job, adopting a pet, etc). Think if it as anything you would have put in the #character-updates channel. If you have a pinned post, consider adding these updates so everyone is aware of them in the future.

Again, not a lot considering how recently I've been here, but--

Angel: Moved to Swynlake, got a job as a bartender at the Hunted Deer, established herself as a "college student" with Tanya, reunited with her ex Lucky and her bff Angelo, started connecting with the other wolves in town

Darius: Moved to Swynlake and started his career as a professor of Magical Cultures at Pride U, learned about all kinds of Mundus artifacts, helped in the aftermath of Willow's Shop of Horrors, went home for the holidays

Luisa: Has been living in Swynlake, learned about political action at a picket line, somehow correctly guessed that "Snow is cheating"

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? Do you have preferences regarding how many times you’re tagged per day, or do you prefer for your replies to be queued for a certain amount of time?

Dash: This is obviously the style I'm most used to when it comes to Disney rp. I think it makes the most sense to me in terms of--thing happens, gif, tag, wait for reply, cycle. That being said, its difficulty comes in the fact that it is not held to a time limit, which makes it really easy to let things fall away when things get busy. I still have threads from when I first joined in September going into the new year. A lot of that is on me and it's something that I'm working on. I personally don't mind holding onto a thread for as long as it takes, but I also understand how frustrating it can be for my partners, so I am trying to get better.

In terms of my style of writing, I try to always give a fair amount of exposition, internal dialogue, and external dialogue to keep the thread going. It can be easier to do shorter, quicker threads, but I also really do enjoy longer threads where you can really get into the meat of what's going on with a character and a situation.

What everyone has probably noticed by now is my style of mass replies and dash spam. This is because I'll save all my replies on Discord and work on them at downtime at work, while I'm commuting, etc. I want to have as many done before I start giffing because I use gif pages, rather than saving individual gifs (I had some issue with computer space for awhile). This hasn't always been a great method, as I've been put on activity checks even though I've had replies done in Discord, I just didn't post them on the dash. Going into the new year, one of my goals is to try and post a few replies every day, rather than hoarding them all at once.

Discord: I have found that I struggle with this! Which is really weird because I use Discord all the time for other roleplays, particularly private ones. I'm not sure what it is about the style--Tupperbox, tagging, the many channels--that has been causing a blockage in my brain but I am determined to figure it out and do better in the next year! Please, if you ever want to Discord rp with me, just reach out. The worst that will happen is that I'll end up too busy, which is the other reason I've missed out on so many events. Dash replies I can do on my own time but it is much easier to lose track of a Discord rp. Again, something that will be worked on.

Docs: I haven't done any for this roleplay, but I'd be willing to! I imagine it would be similar to my dash replies, but I'll never know until I try.

And now, a wishlist! Jot down a few themes or stories or genres etc that you want to maybe pursue in the upcoming year! (i.e. a good ol’ fashion forbidden romance, maybe you want to dig deep into racial identity etc) This doesn’t have to necessarily be attached to any characters or stories you have now– it’s just meant to help you see for yourself what kind of stories call to your heart.

Angel:

Get more involved! Particularly eyeing the MAFIA?? Magick Grand Prix would be great too but Angel is not ready to bring that kind of attention to her Magick status

Lean into the sports thing. Join other teams outside of football and make connections there

Toxic relationships! Angel doesn't think she's a good person and doesn't think she deserves someone good. Let's all bring out the worst in each other

Sexual tension: She's a very sexual being and while has been more flippant in the past, has been very wary since finding out about her heritage. Would love to see the conflict of wanting to do things but also being scared of turning someone

Turning someone: On that note, if you want your character to be turned, Angel could be the one to do it. Lots of good angst all around

Boiling Isles conflict: I would loooove to see us start moving into a plot regarding the Boiling Isles and the Emperor, and what should be done about him. Darius is just on the cusp of being a revolutionary, but he's going to need a push.

Luisa:

Friends! Lovers! Family! Give this girl the connections she needs!

I think it would be super cute if someone had a crush on Luisa that she was completely oblivious to. In general I want to do so much with Luisa and navigating romantic relationships, but the problem is it's just not a priority for her right now. She needs outside influences to push her into it. In some ways, Luisa would be an incredible partner to someone--extremely caring, excitable, and ready to do anything. But on the other hand she has some huge hurdles to overcome--forgetfulness, not prioritizing her relationship, constant last minute ditching. I want to explore the good, bad, and ugly!

Swynlake disasters: very excited to put her VFD status to work! Let's save some people!

Cluster lashes will not damage your client's natural eyelashes, but if the tension on your client's natural lashes is too tight, it could lead to hair loss. It's important to keep this in mind and make sure that when you're applying, you have one hand holding the lashes up from the front while still applying tension with the other hand at the back of the head. If a client has a lot of extra weight in the front, then try bending them over a little more so they don't tip forward. An extra precaution would be to place your fingers between the natural lash and cluster curl as you pull upwards. If they do happen to lose some lashes due to cluster application - which rarely happens - replace those by using individual extensions or false-lash strips before beginning again with clusters. With regular care, a client should see no difference in their natural lashes because of clustering. And there are many benefits: cluster lashes are cheaper than individual extensions; you can apply them faster; and with practice, you'll get better at placing each lash quickly. They are also easier for clients who have never worn extensions before because there's less time required for removal. A side effect can be an increase in bacteria build-up inside the base of the mascara brush after use - something worth considering! Cluster lashes do not damage the eyelashes that have already been grown because of their individual band placement. How to apply cluster lashes for clients Cluster lash placement is determined by the client's eye shape, the natural lash direction, and most significantly, the client's comfort! The clusters give her lashes a natural lift by being positioned under and in between them. The clusters would resemble snuffaluffagus if they were worn on top of her eyelashes! Because the glue is not clumped on top, the effect is more realistic. Does it irritate the customers' eyes? If used properly, NO! The client's eyes are closed throughout the application, and just a small amount of glue is required (for those who like to keep their eyes open, a less-fuming adhesive is strongly advised!). Women can blink and flutter their eyes without feeling irritated. Now, if the wearer has lashes that point DOWNWARD, I would advise applying the clusters atop their natural lashes. A melancholy expression would result if the clusters were positioned beneath the lashes that were pointing downward. How do I get cluster eyelashes off? At first glance, cluster lashes might look hard to get off but we assure you they are not. The average person has between 150-250 real eyelashes which are then coated in a generous amount of false eyelash adhesive which needs to be gently peeled off the natural ones by starting at the base and pulling up towards the end. Be sure to avoid using oil or lotion on the area before beginning as it can make removing the artificial lashes difficult. It is best to use a tool for peeling them off so that no more than one layer of the client's natural lash comes with it. If there is any residual adhesive left over, soak some cotton swabs in olive oil or makeup remover and pat down onto the skin around their eyes so that it gets into any stubborn areas. Do cluster lashes ruin the CLIENT's lashes? Cluster lashes will not ruin the client's lashes if they are applied with care and consideration. However, there are many different ways of applying them that all have their pros and cons.

Before deciding which method is best for you, it is important to consider how often the customer wears makeup, how long they want their lashes to last, and where they like their extensions applied to the eye. Cluster lashes have been known to be heavy on some clients' eyelids so extra care needs to be taken when applying. The results can be great though: longer-looking, fuller-looking eyes, instant glamour, and a full head of hair look for those who are ready for a change! The short answer is no, cluster lashes are completely safe for your clients as long as you apply the lashes with care and caution, just like any other lash extension. If the procedure is done properly and not too many clusters are placed onto a single natural lash at a time, then no damage should occur or be experienced by the client. Are cluster lashes expensive? Cluster lashes are no more expensive than regular eyelash extensions and might be cheaper depending on the salon or technician. It can depend because some salons charge by the hour and others have flat rates, so it's worth shopping around for a good deal. When you're buying them from an individual technician, prices will vary depending on how many lashes they do at one time, what type of adhesives they use and where they work. Conclusion If you're not into drama with a big volume of lashes and prefer something natural, then the Cluster Lash might be for you. The best part is that it works well for any size of eyes- so even if your client has the most almond-shaped peepers around, they will still look amazing! Cluster lashes are super hot right now and are designed for a fluttery, youthful appearance. Unlike individual lashes that attach with one or two strands of adhesive, cluster lashes attach with 4-5 rows of 2-3 hairs per row. Cluster lashes are the newest innovation in professional salon-grade artificial eyelash application, and they're here to stay. As a stylist, it's important that you're well-equipped with not just the knowledge of how these incredible beauties are made but also the methods for applying them in a way that will accentuate your clients' natural beauty for maximum impact and safety for maximum satisfaction.

GENERAL INFO:

Hey!! I’m lem and this is my mcyt sugar rush au !! 

It takes place in the video game Sugar Rush from Wreck it Ralph - but not necessarily the movie itself! The AU is not a one to one comparison to the movie and shouldn’t be treated as such, though! There are a lot of similarities.

If you haven’t watched the movie: Sugar Rush is a candy themed racing arcade game, with racers having customized carts and outfits based off of either one or a few sweets. There’s a ruler named king candy, who doesn’t have a direct counterpart in this au, and a bunch of other racers. Inside the game there’s a girl named Vanellope who is considered a “glitch” and isn’t allowed to race. This is who Ranboo is based off of. 

The AU is also OPEN ! This means anyone can design their own racers for mcyt communities in not in, have their own takes of racers I have done, or even interpret the story I have so far differently!

It’s just a lot of fun and I’m thriving to keep it that way :D

- The roster, how playable characters (aka avatars) are decided, and “volunteering”

The roster is the list of racers that are able to race everyday, with 9 of them being “Avatars” aka Playable Characters and the other 6 on a random / volunteer basis. The Avatars are decided with a race that happens after the arcade closes. Racers can choose to participate in this race but are mandated to be on the Avatar list once a week, and therefore to participate in a roster race once a week. The first nine racers who win are the Avatars for the next day (an exception is described in Tommy’s bio.) Any other racer can volunteer to be one of the 6 non playable characters for the next day, or if not enough people volunteer it is randomized. This is how Ranboo participates

- What they do when not racing

They go to other games, hang out, work on their carts, research, etc! All the stuff you and I may do. Each racer has their own house / place they live. 

- Stats / Racer types

Generally I consider Philza, Techno, and Dream to be the absolute best racers. No one is bad it’s just that those three in particular are really good. Other than that there’s no set stats! 

Racer types are vague but I consider Techno and Tubbo to be Tank racers (defense and handling are high but they’re slow) Jack and Sapnap to be fast racers (go really quick but their handling is bad) and well rounded ones overall are Dream and Ranboo. Everyone else falls in a middle ground somewhere.

- Maps

There’s a “main map” which is just based off of the course from the movie and is likely where most of the au will take place!

Other maps I want to do are an ice themed one, a sky themed one (idea from my discord!) and a beach one! I can’t promise they’ll be in the story but I’d love to design them.

- Players

The characters of sugar rush are aware they're in a video game, they however, cannot see the players. They get a sense of a returning player through playstyles and who they pick (such as only selecting one racer)

making the supernatural fandom more accessible

hey fellow spn fans!! what if we all teamed up to make the spn tumblr experience more accessible?

it sucks that some of the best posts this fandom churns out are completely unreadable to bloggers who use screen readers (or heck, even to people whose wifi sucks so that images never load).

take the amazing scripts that we’re currently so pumped about -- imagine you use a screen reader (if you don’t), and you hear fellow fans going completely feral over content you can’t access. you want to be in on the hype! but you have zero clue why everyone’s screaming about windmills or whatever, because the scripts getting shared are un-captioned screenshots.

...and then there are posts that are just. walls of text! which is really difficult for certain neurodivergent folks to read, such as those with adhd. being aware of that when making original posts (or comments) and adding more paragraph breaks -- and possibly even spicing up the text by bolding important parts, etc. -- is an easy fix for that!

so. here’s my proposal: each one of us commits to whatever level of effort is possible for us (given each person’s unique time, energy, abilities, etc.) in the joint effort to improve accessibility.

Level 1: the ID hunter.

when you go to reblog any spn post that includes images (whether that’s gifs, screenshots, fanart, etc.), check in the notes to see if someone else has added an image description already!

if they have, reblog from them so that the image description spreads further.

"BUT what if someone added the image description before certain commentary was added to the post, and i wanna reblog the post with those extra comments?”

Well, i can’t speak for everyone who creates image descriptions, but i for one don’t care if someone copies & pastes my ID so that they can add it to their own reblog. i don’t care that my blog’s no longer connected to the image description i wrote -- so long as the ID is spread, i’m happy!

Level 2: the copy-paste monster.

when you love another fan’s tags enough to add them to the post -- do so by copy & pasting them, not by screenshotting them!

for your own posts or comments: if you’re sharing, say, a quote from an article or a fanfic or a tweet, do so by copy & pasting the quote instead of taking a screenshot.

if someone else has already shared a screenshot from an article, fanfic, or tweet, and you have a link to the original, do the extra legwork to go to the source, copy and paste, and make an ID.

Level 3: the fandom angel.

If you have the ability, time, and energy to type out image descriptions for spn posts that don’t yet have one, please do it!

If even just a few of us commit to creating even just one ID per day each, that will add up!

And, of course, if you’re making your own post, give it an ID right there in the original posting, if you’re able! I understand that not everyone has the spoons (/time/energy/ability) to do this, and that’s okay. But those who can, please do!

Tumblr now allows you to put alt text on images, so you can do it that way or the old-fashioned way of just including your image description in the text of the post.

Not sure how to write an image description? This post offers some truly comprehensive advice on how to write IDs for various types of content, from photos to fanart to charts to screenshots of text.

By the way, I’ve seen folks ask that you don’t put the ID under a readmore. Keep it easy to access!

Nervous that you’re not gonna write an ID right? First off, practice makes perfect -- you’ll improve with time. I’m pretty sure that an imperfect or incomplete ID is better than no ID at all -- hopefully someone else will come along to reblog with any necessary corrections to whatever ID you write!

Level 4: the man of letters (gn).

You’re going above and beyond what this post advises -- you’re also out there coming up with and implementing other ways to improve accessibility!

Maybe you’re a blogger who uses a screen reader yourself, with more you want to add to this post from your own experience.

What is Xiaolin Reanimated?

This is a multi-animator project in which animators will be given a section of the show to animate. Once everything is complete, it’ll be edited together to create the episode! Due to the fanbase being small, it is likely that we won’t be able to animate the whole episode, but we have got a handful of scenes from the show that we have in mind. Participants are free to re-interpret the shot they’re given.

When will the project start?

We plan on sending confirmation emails and possibly invites to a Discord server around November 28, 2022. Everyone should be assigned their shot by December 5, 2022.

Will there be a Discord server for the participants?

Yes, if there is enough interest in the project as a whole and if people want to. We will not force participants to be in the server, but it creates a sense of community, and allows others to share tips and resources.

What’s the project timeline?

June 9–November 28, 2022: Interest check/open application November 28, 2022: Notify applicants and send out Discord invite links November 28-December 5, 2022: Assign sections to animators January 30, 2023: Check-in 1 March 20,2023: Check-in 2 May 15, 2023: Check-in 3 July 10, 2023: Check-in 4 September 4, 2023: Check-in 5 October 26, 2023: Check-in 6: Final Cut due November 1, 2023: Final cut is posted online!

What are the video specs?

1280x720 pixels, 24fps, mp4/mov uncompressed

What is the final deadline for submissions?

October 26, 2023: Check-in 6: Final Cut Due If you’re running late for any of the check-ins, please inform one of the organizers so that an extension or reassignment can be discussed. Please account for video editing and rendering.

Can I make changes to my final shot after submission?

Yes, but you have until October 30th, 2023 to make changes.  The goal is to release the finished video on November 1st, the original premiere date of the series.

What kind of animation is allowed?

Absolutely any kind! As long as you’re able to animate your shot and get it to us on time.

Can I choose a specific shot?

When confirmations are sent you’re free to put in a request for what kind of shot you’d like. For example, if you’d like a shot with more action or a shot including your favorite character from the first episode, we’ll make a note of that when distributing them.

Can I alter the characters?

As long as they’re still recognizable, go ahead!

Can I change the staging or alter the shot to be different from the original?

Of course! Like with altering character designs, as long as important features and aspects of the shot are still included, you’re free to do what you want.

Can I trace for my shot?

We don’t mind if you trace from the original episode, but it would need to be different enough from the source by style or other means. Consider it a recreation of XS in your own style.

Should I use my real name or online alias when signing up?

That’s entirely up to you and what you’re comfortable with. As long as you inform others of how you’d like to be referred to as in the final cut, so that appropriate credits can be given, it does not matter which name you use when applying. It is considered more professional to use your real name, especially if you want to use this project on a resume.

How will I know if I’ve been selected to participate in the project?

On November 28, 2023, we will send out confirmation emails to applicants who have been successful in obtaining a spot on the team.

Can I share my finished piece or progress?

Of course! But please post it AFTER the final project is posted. Make sure to tag it with #XiaolinReanimated so that we can share what you’ve made.

How often should I share my work in progress?

Ideally you should share a WIP at the end of each step of your process (i.e. Finished storyboards, finished animatic, finished rough animation, finished line art, finished color, finished shading, finished rendering, filtering, or compositing). This is to catch any mistakes early on, so that you do not have to redo the entire shot from scratch.

Can I collab with someone on my animation?

Yes!

Should I add a credit/watermark when making my submission?

No. This is something that will be done when the final cut is being put together. You may add a credit or watermark when you post your cut to your preferred social media channels.

What if I don’t know how to animate?

There are other positions available. You could be a mod for the Discord server, create and provide backgrounds or other assets for animators to use, or - if you're comfortable animating a blink or something simple - a still animation shot. More details will be provided when the project gets underway.

What if I can animate, but don't have access to an animation program?

Try one of the free animation programs listed in this blog entry.  There are also links to tutorials on how to use each program.  Read up on the tools and features each offers to choose the one that you think will best suit your needs.  Synfig, Blender, and Kirita were the programs more seasoned animators recommended.

Where can I find the character references?

Character references are available under the #character reference tag.

Where and when will the finished project be posted?

The video will be posted to the Director's YouTube channel (here) between November 1-3. An announcement will be made when the video is live!

Will there be a "Xiaolin Chronicles Reanimated?"

At this stage, that’s unlikely. XC was created nearly 10 years after XS, and as much as we would like to celebrate that as well, two projects going at the same time would be too much for everyone on the team to handle. This may be reconsidered in the future, but for the time being, the answer is no.
