Asthma can be so weird. I'm am at the gym, and I was on the treadmill (speed-walking, my lungs do not let me run anywhere), with my body feeling great but my lungs and head wanting me to stop. It wasn't too bad so I kept going. Then as soon as I get off I'm like INSANELY dizzy. Like stumbling and blurry vision dizzy.
So now I've just been sitting and scrolling through Tumblr for 20 minutes instead of doing any other exercise trying to let my body rest. I WANT to go lift some weights and stuff, but it literally wouldn't be safe for me to do so right now with where my head is. So I have to just sit here for like an hour and let oxygen get to my brain again I guess so that I'm not disoriented. It's kinda frustrating ngl. The rest of my body wants to keep going but my head is all spacey.
I never really realized that my asthma was a disability because no one talked about it that way with me, but the more I learn about disability the more I realize just how hard movement is for me breathing wise. Running for even 10 seconds makes me like this. Walking on a small hill for even a few minutes makes me like this. Even just walking for like 10 minutes on flat ground makes it hard to breathe.
The rest of my body works pretty well and wants to exercise, but my lungs just can't.

y'all I'm so smartn't
I was walking home and I found someone's ID and I'm like "oh shit oh fuck this is important, how will I get it back to them? I don't know this person!"
Turned it over and there's their home address
...it was like 10 feet from where I was standing

I love Peter but that man has the most gangly ass run I have ever seen and that's saying something because I've seen Evan Buckley run. Like girl, why are you flailing like that? Didn't you have run as part of your training? There is no way he ISN'T expending waaaaay more energy than needed. Too many years behind that desk I guess...

So today was my first day teaching an after school elective theater class (10+ 2nd 3rd 4th grade girls) and holy shit y'all I have even more respect for teachers now than ever before because that was BRUTAL lmao it was like they could smell my fear and knew they could trample all over me. Maybe my viewpoint is skewed, seeing as I was a really meek, easygoing kid at that age, but I can't fathom just...blatantly ignoring the teacher when they tell you not to do something. I get theater is a bit more loosey goosey but damn I can't imagine treating any of my past theater teachers (or any adult for that matter) with such disregard. Hoping that they were just crazy because it was their first day back at school after summer break and they'll mellow out a tiny bit by next week.
There were two super sweet and responsible 4th graders that I'm probably going to have to lean on to get through to some of their classmates. Like appoint them "team leaders" or whatever.
Either way, no more Ms. Pushover next Wednesday--Miss Helen is gonna lay down the fucking LAW lol I'm going to print out a set of class rules and expectations and have the kids repeat them back to me, and I may invest in a fucking whistle to cut through how loud they can get. If any of y'all have a background in teaching or otherwise dealing with large groups of children, feel free to drop any tips or suggestions you might have to get a handle on a rowdy crowd of munchkins and gremlins without yelling or being overly strict.

Saying that using disability language to describe your experiences is "dehumanizing yourself" and "making you look angry" is so fucking telling of your character.

Took a shitty digital camera to a show tonight in Seattle, got some great pictures and videos I’ll upload as soon as I’m back home at my computer. Great show great music great company, 10/10 experience.
Right up to the point where we started walking back (uphill, hours after the last time I used my inhaler) and I had a full blown scary dangerous asthma attack. Like sitting on the ground and wheezing as slowly as possible in the hopes I won’t pass out (I didn’t thankfully), hoping we can find a scooter or taxi or some way to get my sorry ass back to the apartment and my lifesaving medication. Ended up having my sister walk the 3ish blocks to get it to me, im fine now back at the apartment. 0/10, don’t walk up steep ass hills without an inhaler if you have exercise induced asthma.

that post about people judging you for taking daily medication... saw a few people tagging it with things along the line of "would you tell a diabetic to just stop taking insulin"
and I get the sentiment because while I think MORE people generally understand that would be a bad idea and absolutely the more "invisible" disabilities like mental health issues get these weird comments more frequently buuuut... I can almost guarantee even the diabetics can relate to that post and have indeed heard someone tell them something like "you'll get reliant on it" or "just exercise more and eat better and you wont need that stuff".
literally we are all just united in this I think no matter the type of disability someone will always have an uneducated shitty opinion

Being a sickly kid is fun cause you'll get a diagnosis, and the adults will explain that it's the medical way of saying you're a fat piece of shit. Then when you're an adult you look into the diagnosis and realize your gym teacher nearly killed you on three separate occasions.
