Every part of you felt numb. Your body was heavy and heart shattered. The whole event of last night played through your head over and over again, hurting more each time.
You didn’t want it to be real. You didn’t want San and Wooyoung to be gone.
“Wake up. We’re here.” The males voice came from the front seat.
You sat up to look at your surroundings, a small cabin on a lake front with not much else in sight. To most it would be peaceful, but to you it was hell at the moment.
You took Ella from her car seat, holding her in your lap as you sighed quietly. “Guess we’re here.” You told her, exiting the car.
“Where are we?” You asked the male, who was grabbing the bags from the car.
“Somewhere safe.” He simply replied, motioning for you to follow him to the cabin.
You rolled your eyes at his answer, following inside. It was decent enough, a living room with tv, the kitchen was stocked with new pots and pans, and a pile of groceries were stacked on the floor.
You made your way down the hall, glancing in at the bathroom before finding your and Ella’s bags in a room at the end of the hall. You got her freshened up and grabbed a bottle before setting in a crib that had been set up.
You laid on your side on the bed across from the crib, watching as she played with the toys and stuffies Woo had grabbed for her. You couldn’t help but cry again, feeling hopeless and confused.
San and Wooyoung had always kept the business side of things hush hush, but over time you started to pick up on little things. Woo arranged boxing matches where people placed high bets to watch San fight an opponent.
99% of the time San was victorious, in exception for Leeknow. Every few weeks the boys would come home after a loss and chat over how to defeat him the next time. Woo always said the loss left a dent in their wallets.
The knock on the door woke you up. You groaned quietly, not even realizing you had fallen asleep.
“Sorry…she’s been fussing. I can take her if you want.” The male said.
It was only now you realized who had been accompanying you this whole time. “Mingi?”
“Yea..I didn’t think you remembered.” He chuckled, taking a few steps towards the crib.
“No.” You said quickly, “I got her.”
You rushed to your feet to swoop Ella into your arms, hushing her as you dug through one of the bags.
“Sorry.” Mingi said quietly, scratching the back of his head. “I have dinner going. It’ll be ready soon.” He smiled softly before turning and heading back to the kitchen.
You didn’t exactly remember Mingi, but he had been one of your elementary school friends and you thought he’d left town years ago.
Once you found a soother for Ella, you both made your way into the kitchen. You didn’t know how long you’d been asleep, but the cabin looked much cozier than when you arrived.
A small play area had been set up in the living room, which you placed Ella into after giving her a kiss on the forehead.
“Are you hungry?” Mingi asked from the kitchen.
“Uh, no. No thanks. Ella’s probably starving.”
“I made her mashed peas and potatoes. There’s a few pieces of pork chop cooling for her too.”
To your surprise, the food at prepared correctly for her age and was made into a smiley face on a cute dinosaur plate.
“Don’t worry, I know how to not kill a baby. I have a three year old and a handful of nieces and nephews.” Mingi smirked, passing you the plate and a baby spoon.
“Thanks.” You mumbled quietly.
You sat inside Ella’s play area and propped her inside the bumbo seat before feeding her dinner.
“I think she approves.” Mingi said from the kitchen table as he munched down on his own meal.
You ignored his comment, focusing on keeping Ella’s face clean as your thoughts wondered to Woo and San. You couldn’t help but worry and wonder where they were, if they were okay. Not to mention the hurt you felt from then suddenly leaving you.
The day creeped into night and you went along with your normal routine with Ella, bathing her and reading a couple of stories before settling her down in bed with a bottle.
Mingi had made himself comfortable in the smaller bedroom, setting up a little gaming station and some mood lighting. It seemed like he was always making someplace feel like home.
“You still haven’t eaten.”
His deep voice creeped out from his room, you peaked in to see him sitting on a bean bag chair, playing gta on a small tv screen.
“I just don’t feel hungry. I’m fine though.” You smiled softly before turning towards the bathroom. “I’m gonna take a shower. Do you mind listening out for her?”
“No problem at all.”
The hot water washed over your face as you sobbed as quiet as you could. There was a million questions running through your head. Why San would just send you off without explanation. Why they couldn’t go with you. There was no off button to the mess in your head.
As you opened the bathroom door, Mingi gave you a small wave, “She’s snoring. I’m heading to sleep soon.” He stretched out before standing up and heading to the door, leaning onto the side as he started to close it.
“Let me know if you need anything.”
“Thanks. Night.”
You tried to comfort yourself with Woo’s shirt, the familiar sent of him brought you mixed emotions, which you tried your best to push aside. At some point you drifted to sleep on your tear stained pillow, thought it was nothing compared to falling asleep in Woo’s arms as he fucked you slowly.
The next few days felt numb. You went through day by day, moment by moment just focusing on Ella. You were a mess. You had barely eaten, barely spoken to Mingi. The only update you had gotten was that Leeknow had thrown a fight and his people were angry with the loss.
You were too exhausted to focus on what was being told to you as Mingi filled you in the latest events.
“I guess it’s almost resolved. There was some sort of confrontation but they ended up actually chatting.”
Your eyes tried to focus on Mingi cleaned dishes, but the room started to spin.
“If all goes well, you should be going home pretty so-”
Your body fell to the ground with a hard thud as you blacked out. The lack of food and hours of crying finally had you hitting a brick wall.
Mingi cursed as a glass dropped from his hand, he ran to your side and patted your face a few times. “Fuck. Come on, wake up.”
He grabbed your glass of water off the table and splashed it on your face, “Y/N.” He tapped your face a little harder as you woke a bit, still very fuzzy and spaced.
You remember being in the car as Mingi drove towards the nearest hospital. Ella was strapped in her seat and you laid fading in and out on the seat next to her.
The beeping of a heart monitor rang in your ears as you came out of unconsciousness, you mumbled to yourself as the nurse greeted you and let you know what was going on.
“We gave you some fluids but you’re going to need to eat before you leave, other than that, you and the baby are overall fine.”
“What?” Your tone was unexpectedly harsher than you expected.
“Well we had to run a blood test just to make sure it was lack of nutrients…I-I’m sorry, if you didn’t know.”
You stared blankly for a moment, “No-“ you paused to look at her, offering a small smile. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” You laughed quietly as a tear fell down your cheek. “Thank you.”
After following the doctors orders and apologizing to Mingi and Ella for not taking care of your self, you were happily on your way home.
Though your heart ached for Wooyoung more than ever, you couldn’t help but smile down at your stomach.
“I think you should name them Grey.”
“Grey?”
“Yeah. It’s my favorite color - well actually charcole, but that’s a weird name for a kid.”
You shook your head and laughed as the drive continued, filled with small chat and plans to make the best of things.
“By the way” Mingi started as he pulled into the long driveway down to the cabin, he paused and quickly checked his phone before pointing to a car parked near the house. “You have a visitor.”
Your eyes filled with tears at the sight of your brother as the car came to a stop, you rushed out and over to hug him tightly.
“I swear to god if you ever do that again”
“It won’t happen again. Ever.”
“Promise.”
“Promise. We’re going straight.”
San explained how Wooyoung had made a deal with Leeknow’s people to get them out of the game and in exchange they would own and operate a car repair shop.
As San continued to speak, your eyes drifted to the cabin door opening and you took off running towards Wooyoung as he walked out.
Tears were streaming down your face as you leaped into his arms, kissing his lips as deep as you could.
“You came back.” You whispered against his lips, pressing your head against his.
“I’m not going anywhere ever again.”
“Good. Ella and her little brother or sister are gonna need their daddy.”
Woo looked down at you with a look of shock and wonder, which you nodded a few times to confirm what he was thinking.
He wrapped his arms around you again, spinning you around as he kissed your cheek repeatedly.
“Get a room!” San yelled with a laugh.
Woo gave him the finger as he carried you back into the cabin and closed the door behind him.
You laughed in his arms and held onto him until he put you back on the ground, “Go get your daughter.” You laughed, giving him another kiss.
“Our daughter.” He whispered.

"Babe?" Y/N spoke quietly as she eyed the dark room alertly.
She had heard a noise in the presidential suite where she was staying with her fiance, it wasn't customary for her to tag along on business trips but it wasn't like she could argue with him about that right now. Ever since she found out she was pregnant, Baekhyun didn't leave her side and didn't let her stay away from him for longer than necessary, it was a matter of protection. Like he said.
Even though she preferred to be at home, Y/N didn't complain because better than being at home was being with Baekhyun. His travels were often long enough that she missed him and felt lonely as well. At least now that feeling is gone.
She never felt alone when was with him.
He'd said he'd work something out with the security team who'd called him in the middle of the night so she figured he'd be back shortly.
But when she saw that the suite was the same as she had seen it before getting dressed for bed, she was surprised.
She heard the noise, she wasn't delirious.
"Sweetheart?" she asked a little louder, stopping in the middle of the dark suite. "If it's you, please don't scare me!"
Baekhyun had this habit of sneaking back in the middle of the night and appearing behind her without making a sound, she was startled, he laughed and hugged her as she turned to smack him in the chest.
But now pregnant, they would have to stop that joke for a very good reason: Y/N already felt like going to the bathroom more than usual, so she would end up peeing her pants.
She shrugged, realizing that it had nothing there and was about to head over to the bed to wait for him when she felt a hand grab her face, covering her mouth. She complained of fright and held her breath when she felt something cold on her back.
"Be still, doll." she didn't know that voice but she realized the danger, mainly because the thin fabric of the nightgown allowed her to feel the barrel of the gun that was leaning against her. "Or I shoot without a second thought."
Y/N nodded nonstop, her eyes already filled with tears as her body shook. She was scared, she couldn't deny it.
"Go slowly to the couch and don't look back." She swallowed hard and knew she had to obey, but her legs felt like cement. They were so stiff. "Hurry up!"
The man released her face, and she raised her hands in surrender.
"Alright." She spoke low and tried to regain strength in her legs, walked slowly to the sofa that was in the middle of the suite and stopped on the side. She wouldn't do anything she wasn't told to, she knew how things worked. "Now sit down."
She obeyed without hesitation, her heart beating so fast she felt it against her ear but her body stiffened even as she caught her breath as the man positioned himself behind her and put the gun to her head.
Y/N couldn't control the tears that were now flowing down her face like a river.
She didn't have time to think about anything else when she heard the bedroom door slam shut.
"Stay still!" The man whispered close to her ear, sending a shiver through her body. It wasn't just any shiver, it was panic.
"Honey, I-" Baekhyun turned on the light in the suite and his eyes landed on the scene in front of him.
"Close the door." The man ordered and Baekhyun changed his expression in the same second.
The smile he carried faded, giving way to a dark, angry look. He obeyed angrily, closing the door slowly as he watched his fiancee crying silently and asking for help with red eyes.
"You made the biggest mistake of your life." Baekhyun's voice was cold, harsh and his jaw was set.
Y/N could see the fire of pure hatred in his face.
"I don't think so, Byun. I have you where I want and the way I want." The man chuckled sarcastically and Baekhyun raised his eyebrow defiantly. "Now kneel!"
"Excuse me?"
"Kneel!" the man screamed and cocked the gun, pressing it even tighter against Y/N's head who let out a sob as she squeezed her eyes shut. "Or I blow your little girlfriend's brains out," he threatened. "If she has any."
Baekhyun swallowed hard and held his breath, he felt all his blood bubbling in his veins, he didn't obey what they forced him to do. He was the one in charge.
But that man had a gun to his girl's head.
Against his will and gritting his teeth, he knelt on one leg as he glared at the man. If looks from him could kill, that bastard would already be lying on the floor.
How dare he threaten his fiancée and their baby in front of him with a gun. How dare he call her stupid.
Y/N opened her eyes, begging for her fiance's help, whatever he could do. All that was on her mind was their baby and how she was going to keep safe.
"Now I'm the one who will call the shots here." The man boasted and Baekhyun got irritated, when the man looked away at Y/N, he took the opportunity to bring his hand to his waist. "First, you'll pay me back for everything you did to my brother. And then, you'll beg me to kill you real quick, but I'll do exactly what you did to him, it will be slow and painful." The man then raised the gun, grinning upward as if he found his moment of glory amusing. Baekhyun took the opportunity to take the gun from his waist in silence.
"You just forgot one detail." He grinned deviously and the man turned his attention to him, brow furrowed. "There is only one king." he replied, cocking the gun. "And it's me!"
Baekhyun raised the gun and without thinking a second longer, he squeezed the trigger, the noise of the shot was followed by the impact on the man's head and the scream of Y/N, she closed her eyes and put her hands to her head in a way protective and heard the body fall behind her.
Y/N let out the breath she was holding and started crying like a baby, Baekhyun stood up while looking at the already dear body in disgust, walked over to Y/N and put the gun back in his waistband.
"Love." He spoke in a low voice, bringing his hands to Y/N's arms and helping her to her feet.
Staggering, she did so and opened her eyes, seeing her fiancé looking at her with concern. Y/N threw herself into his arms, crying even harder, and he held her tight resting his face on the top of her head as he stroked her back, trying to make her calm down.
Baekhyun could only feel more anger at the already dead man, he had put a bullet in his forehead but it wasn't enough.
Whoever had given him information, who had let him upstairs, who had helped scare his girl, deserved it too.
He wouldn't allow anyone to threaten or harm his family.
"It's okay, it's okay, angel. I'm here." he spoke and Y/N grabbed his clothes, as if she wanted to prove that this was indeed true.
"I was so scared." She admitted between sobs and moved the log away so she could face her fiancé. "I thought… that he would…"
Baekhyun forced his lips and brought her head closer, where he placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Don't say anything else, you're safe, it's over." he pressed her tighter against his body. "You two are safe and I will never let anyone hurt you." He promised.
And Baekhyun always kept his promises, no matter what the means.

DRABBLE GAME | MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Jongin and Chanyeol found themselves in a familiar place they hadn’t been to in years.
‘We really did jump,” Chanyeol said in awe, taking in the old bar they would frequent when they were much younger adults than they were now.
Jongin felt jittery, like this wasn’t right. He had been told that his power could do much more than allow him to travel the world. He could travel dimensions, travel other worlds….
And time travel apparently.
He had no idea where exactly they were. Suho had told him to think of a time before shit hit the fan, before they lost everything.
“Excuse me,” Chanyeol called to a bartender. “Silly question, but what’s the date today?”
The bartender took him in wearily. Probably wondering if he needed to be cut off or not.
“Please,” he pressed. “It’s important.”
She sighed. “It’s the fifth of September. Twenty eighteen.”
“Twenty eighteen,” Chanyeol repeated with wide eyes, locking them with Jongin. “Bro, you fucking did it.”
“That’s too far back,” Jongin said between clenched teeth. He was aiming more towards 2021. Three years before The Attack.
“But there’s a reason why you sent us here.”
Chanyeol may be right about that, but he couldn’t understand it himself. The reasoning behind this specific time, this specific spot.
But then he heard a recognizable laugh and all the color drained from his face.
Chanyeol heard it too, throwing him a look full of warning. But Jongin ignored it, walking deeper into the dim building in search of the voice.
At a table, surrounded by a group of familiar faces, he saw the reason why he brought himself back here.
You.
The love of his life. The one who sacrificed everything that day. The one he lost.
You were there. Alive. Laughing. Unaware of the journey you were about to embark, of how drastically the world was going to change.
You were the reason why he even attempted to time travel.
He took a step towards the table, but then Chanyeol had him pressed against a wall, his forearm dug into Jongin’s neck.
“We don’t know what will happen if we interact with them,” he hissed. “We’re here to observe. To search for the red force. To discover the traitor.”
Jongin’s eyes were frantic as he tried to look at you again. “They’re here. The traitor is sitting at that table as we speak!”
“Yes,” Chanyeol agreed gravely. “With your wife. Your dead wife.” Jongin went still in his grip. “Shit, we might already be here. What’ll happen it we bump into our younger selves?”
Jongin wasn’t sure. He didn’t understand how any of this stuff worked. He just knew that it did. But, he couldn’t accept Chanyeol’s words yet. He searched his memories, wondering if he had met you, by now. But, you hadn’t. It wouldn’t be for a moment still.
“We’re not. I haven’t.” He swallowed thickly, which was hard to do with Chanyeol’s arm still pressed against his neck. “I haven’t met her yet.”
Chanyeol sighed. “This isn’t a good idea, Jongin.”
“Please, just let me see her,” he begged. “It’s been over a year, Chanyeol. I promise I won’t do anything, but I need to talk to her. I need to hear her voice again. I….”
He was so messed up without you. A ghost of the man he used to be. He swore he died the same night you did. Chanyeol saw that. Saw what the loss had done to his partner.
It was reluctantly, but he let him go, ignoring the relieved smile that bloomed on Jongin’s face. He pointed at him. “No funny business. We have a mission. We have to stick to it.”
“And we will,” Jongin was quick to say. “But for today, let’s just be normal, while we still can. This is the only peace we’ll ever get again. Let’s enjoy it.”
Chanyeol took in the bar that no longer existed in their timeline. Took in the smells and voices, and Jongin saw just how tired his friend was. How the war had drained him. He’d lost just as many people, had suffered just as much.
“Okay,” Chanyeol fully relented. “Let’s order some drinks.”
After getting a couple drinks, the two of them made their way over to the table you were sat at. Jongin couldn’t take his eyes off of you. You were even more beautiful than he remembered, nearly glowing under the yellow lights ahead.
“Mind if we join?” He asked, looking nowhere else but at you.
“Oh?” Another girl at the table, your best friend he realized, said. She took in the tall handsome men. “We could really enjoy the company.”
Jongin wasted no time sliding into the empty chair beside you, thankful for that. He sat a cup in front of you and you studied it for a brief moment before braving a sip.
Your eyebrows raised when it hit your taste buds.
“This is my favorite. How did you know?”
He grinned knowingly at you. “I could tell you were a woman with class.”
You laughed breathlessly at that, a bit intimidated under his intense stare. Still, he was ridiculously handsome—handsome enough to ignore the red flags. So, you introduced yourself.
“Jongin.” He held onto your hand and nearly sobbed at the familiar contact. When you went to pull away, he refused to let go. You giggled before shyly turning back to your drink.
Chanyeol cleared his throat, and Jongin remembered himself, finally letting your hand go.
He took in the others at the table. There were three girls and two men, including you. The men he recognized instantly as Kyungsoo and Baekhyun.
It was one of them, the traitor. The one who gave the Red Force their plans, leading to the attack that changed everything, that killed Jongin’s wife.
No. He wouldn’t think about that right now. Not when he had you back.
“So, you come here often?” Your best friend, Kim Jiwon, asked. Jongin was suspicious of her as well. She was a lousy friend, and was rather close to Kyungsoo. She also disappeared after the attack.
Chanyeol and Jongin locked eyes.
“We do,” Chanyeol said, sipping the brown drink he had ordered for himself. He closed his eyes as it coated his tongue, savoring the old taste he once enjoyed.
“Usually after work. A little treat after a hard day.” Jongin supplied.
“We do too!” You said excitedly. He fought his smile at your joy. That was something you would always say everytime you ended up at the bar.
“Oh?” He played off. “What is it that you do?”
“We’re engineers,” Baekhyun spoke up. “We work for the government. We build—”
“Planes,” Kyungsoo interrupted.
Jongin lifted an eyebrow at you, questioning the legitimacy of Kyungsoo’s answer. You shrugged. “You can say that.”
The night continued on. The table went round for round on drinks. Jongin was finding himself getting drunk for the first time in years. He was never much of a drinker to begin with, but today he needed all the alcohol he could get.
“I’ll have the Flying Dutchmen,” he ordered to the waitress, who rolled her eyes at the mostly juice drink. “And my wife here will have another Pink Lady.”
Chanyeol kicked his leg. He pouted.
You tilted your head curiously. You were pressed so close to him, he could feel your chest rise and fall against his arm. “Your wife? You know, that’s the third time you’ve called me that tonight.”
“Is it?” he asked, falling more into your space. You allowed him.
“Yeah,” you smirked up at him. “Why is that?”
“Because,” he slurred, nose touching yours. “I’m gonna marry you one day.”
“You don’t even know me,” you pointed out, but he caught how breathless you sounded, how warm your face grew.
He hummed. “Not now maybe, but I already know that I love you.”
You watched him for a moment, appearing very sober as you wondered if this was okay. If he meant what he was saying, and wasn’t being a creep. Gorgeous be damned. Telling a stranger you loved them was definitely a red flag.
You swallowed thickly. “Love? That’s…that’s a serious word.”
He nodded slowly, staring at the sensual shape of your mouth. God, he wanted to kiss you. He wanted to show you just how much he loved you, to tell you he never stopped. Ever.
“And I’m very serious when it comes to you.” His tone revealed as much.
Your drinks arrived, and to his satisfaction, you didn’t turn away from him. “Prove it.”
And maybe it was the drinks that made you so bold. Or it was the way the handsome stranger looked at you. There was… a sadness in his eyes. A sadness and a devotion that you found both startling and intriguing.
He went to do just that. His lips brushed against yours when his friend called his name. A reminder.
“Maybe it’s time to go,” his friend—Chanyeol, you recalled—suggested.
“But we just got our drinks,” Baekhyun whined.
“At least finish those first. We have to go soon too. Work in the morning.” You laughed awkwardly under the weight of the tall man’s gaze.
“One more drink,” he said, but his attention was on the man beside you, who couldn’t seem to focus on anything other than you.
He was a bit more solemn than a moment ago. He didn’t reply, instead lifting his drink and clinking it against your own before chugging it empty.
“Jongin!” You gasped, disappointed that he finished it so quickly. Was he that eager to leave you?
He shivered before getting to his feet. Not even gracing you with a goodbye before he was heading to the door.
“We’ll take care of the bill,” Chanyeol said as he followed his friend.
No. There was no way you were going to let the man who just told you he was going to marry you walk away without even a goodbye.
“Wait!” You called after them, running past Chanyeol to grab Jongin’s sleeve.
He stopped walking immediately. The men shared a glance as Chanyeol walked past, but didn’t say anything.
Finally, he turned to you.
“Will I see you again?” You couldn’t help but ask. It was unlike you to chase after a man, but Jongin was different. You could tell.
He threw a look over his shoulder, at Chanyeol, and then grabbed your face, pulling you in to kiss you.
You had never felt something like this before. You wrapped your arms around his neck, holding him close to you as he kissed you as if a man reunited with a lover after being torn away from them. Like he wanted you.
Like he loved you.
When he finally pulled away, with difficulty on both parts, there were tears in his eyes.
“I’ll see you soon,” was all he was able to get out before he stormed out the door.
You swore you saw him vanish into thin air before it closed.

Hi there! I really love your work! Thank you for working so hard to create an amazing fanfic for us 🫶🏻. I have a request for you. Since I'm a typical person who finds comfort in angst stories, could you please write an angst story about Kyungsoo based on his song 'The View'? Thank you very much!
Answer: when I got this request I literally SCREAMED. Thank you @sooadorable for the request! I have been writing a series and wondered how I could introduce it, and this is the best way because it lines up with the story perfectly! The series is entitled “Romantic Universe”, which contains 4 standalone intertwined stories featuring Kyungsoo, Chanyeol, Jongin and Baekhyun. I have been writing Kyungsoo’s for over a year and this is the product. I hope you enjoy this, thank you so much for the request and all of your support! Dividers by @saradika-graphics

I stare out into the vast open sky from my living room floor, the sunset paints beautiful colors that canvas the atmosphere above the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean. I can get lost in moments like this, the times where my head is completely clear and I take in everything around me.
Slowly, effortlessly, the yellows become the golden flecks in her gorgeous eyes. The wind is her touch, soft and sends chills down my spine. The reds are her lips when she gets ready for date nights, putting on lipstick just for me. Even though she didn’t need it, she looked so spectacular in that shade of red. The waves are the promises we made, consistently rolling back to me to remind me that I failed to keep so many. Being here in this kind of scene just isn’t the same without her.
I watched my wife, Mila, walk out of the door and never turn back due to my own stupidity. I haven’t slept well since she left. I haven’t been able to eat on some days. Nothing in my life feels right anymore.
Our vacation home in Malibu looks out onto the shore, for the times we needed to get away from it all and spend time together. Tonight is my last night here before I have to fly back to New York to finish my album and I wish I could stay here longer. It’s the closest thing that I have to being with her.
Everywhere I turn, there’s pieces of Mila in every single thing. She’s in the clouds, the wind, the moon that grows brighter and brighter by the second. The last six months have been hell without her.
Watching old videos of us together has to be a form of self harm, but this is the only way I can see her smile. My eyes are glued to the screen as memories play out from different points in our relationship. From moving in to our first apartment together after we got married. From traveling to Korea to see my family. Waking up in Spain on our European tour together to staying up late in the studio to our honeymoon. I’ve replayed the honeymoon videos over and over, mesmerized as the events play out on screen. We were so young, Mila was 20 and I was 22. I need to be honest with myself, it wasn’t a honeymoon… It was our elopement at Mila’s grandparent’s ranch in Mexico. We stayed in the guest house on the ranch, and it was the happiest we’d ever been.
"Come here." My voice whines from the TV.
"No! Why are you recording us? It’s so weird!" Mila giggles. I grab the phone and the focus is Mila sitting with her leg tucked under her with cheeks tinted pink.
"Look at you, Angel." I breathe, calling her by her nickname. “You’re so gorgeous and you just woke up.”
“Soo!” Mila blushes. She tries to cover her face but I won’t let her.
“Don’t hide your gorgeous face from me.”
The engagement ring and wedding band on her left hand glimmers on screen. The rays of morning light filter into the room and it can’t even compare to her smile. She didn’t need to try at all, she just naturally glowed. I love it when she’s this way, no makeup, hair down and only wearing my t shirt.
I pull Mila by her waist into the frame and kiss her, my arm protectively still around her. I tease her by tracing her lips with mine and smile between kisses, placing her into my lap. I lean and prop the phone on the bedside table and we're in full view on the bed. Mila’s hands run through my hair, something she did when we’d be intimate like this. Her smile fades as she wraps her arms around my neck.
“Soo… I’m worried. I’m scared that us running off and getting married is going to make things worse with my father and brother.” Mila expresses. I press my forehead against hers, holding her tight in my arms.
"Listen to me. No matter what happens, my heart is yours. Angel, we’re married. Nothing can separate us. Not Sungho, not Chanyeol, no one. I know that we both took a risk when we didn’t tell Chanyeol that we were just dating. He’s your brother and my best friend. I can’t imagine how hard it was for you to keep that from your brother. You’re everything to me, my best friend, my life. All I care about is that you’re happy with this decision. They’ll come around, we just have to give it time.” I say lowly.
Mila nods her head, her hands glide down my shoulder to my forearms.
“I hope Chanyeol will come around, him and I are close and I never expected he’d react in the way he did. With my father… He may take longer but it’ll be okay. I’m beyond happy. This feels so right, yeobo.” Mila smiles again, and it’s a personal victory that she’s glowing again. “I just… Don’t know how I feel about you filming us in bed. It’s kind of…”
“Jagiya, stop. This is for our memories. This is our honeymoon. I had to document just how gorgeous you are when you wake up in the morning. You make the world around you envious.” I whisper, caressing her face.
"This is like a dream. I don’t want to go back to reality.” Our eye contact is strong, it never deviates from one another. I run my fingers through her hair and cup her face in my hands.
We fall into a deep kiss, molding ourselves to each other. We break slowly and a fire is ablaze in her eyes, full of want. She pushes me down onto the bed, I roll over until I’m on top of her.
“Look at me, Angel.” I straighten her gaze back to me by guiding her jaw back to face me. I lean down and kiss her velvety soft lips, my hand slides down to her throat. Her soft whimpers fill the room as my lips roam her jaw and down her neck. I stop at her shoulder and smirk into the camera.
“Mila, you’ll never forget this.” I say into the camera and nip her collarbone. She shrieks and holds onto me tighter. Before we go further, Mila grabs the phone and laughs.
“Nice try, Mr. Doh.”
We laugh and she cuddles into me, stopping the recording. I turn the TV off. Seeing my wife smile like that is something I haven’t seen in a long time. Tears threaten my eyes as the moon glows brighter. I can’t even remember when I started drinking or how I got halfway done with my bottle of Tennessee Whiskey. Now there’s nothing left but reminders that she’s not mine anymore. I shouldn’t have been working so much, prioritizing everything else over her, or even worse… I shouldn’t have been such a jealous monster. Being young and stupid, I’d bubble over with jealousy if a man just as much as gazed at her.
To be fair, Mila is a beautiful woman inside and out. She’s so selfless, humble and never afraid to be herself. Mila is known around the world for her music, to say she’s talented is an understatement. Watching her onstage is like a dream, she bursts to life when she performs. The entire world gets to see the woman that I am so proud to call her my wife.
Her physical beauty is just a bonus. Her sun kissed skin seems to glow, her plump lips framed her adorable smile perfectly, I could lose myself in her gorgeous eyes if I could. Her body is a gift from God, effortless curves that would hypnotize me the moment she’d walk into a room. She came right out of my dreams, everything about her is perfect.
It was never a secret that men pined over her and how gorgeous she is. I never checked my jealousy, something she never deserved.
I was certain every man she came across fantasized about her and wanted her the way I wanted her. I was so certain that it made me crazy. It was so bad that we started to fight all of the time and she finally had enough.
I open the sliding glass door to listen to the waves. The warmth from the whiskey offsets the cold night air, I wait for Mila’s arms to hug me into her embrace and when it doesn’t come, my heart splinters. I handled winter and spring without her, but summer reminded me how much worse it is that we’re separated. How she takes shape in the view.
“Mila… I miss you…” I whisper into the night air. The stars and moon start to sway and my vision clouds over. I rub my temples and turn my back to the ocean, glancing over at the divorce papers on the counter. I wrecked my brain relentlessly over what made Mila want a divorce. I didn’t cheat on her, I didn’t ever lay a hand on her and I didn’t lie to her or kept anything from her.
We could work on our problems easily, if she’d just allow it. Our last fight was the worst one, I can’t even remember what words were exchanged but that didn’t matter. What haunted me was that I made her cry. Something I swore I’d never do. I wanted to fix it and Mila wanted nothing to do with me.
Divorce papers.
This is not how I expected our relationship to end. I didn’t want it to end at all. I have to prove it to her that I’m going to change… Once the room stops spinning…
I stumble back and collapse onto the couch, closing my eyes to continue the memory the week we spent together on the ranch when we got married. Mila and I were in bed, cuddled up during one of our late nights. Mila’s fingers dance across my chest, her eyes heavy with fatigue.
“Promise me something, Soo.” She whispers.
“Yes, Angel?”
“Promise me that no matter what happens, we’ll never give up. We’ll never separate. Even if times get difficult, I don’t want to give up.” Mila pleads with her eyes.
“I promise you, Mila. I’ll never give up on you or us. If we somehow get lost or strained… We’ll fix it. I’ll fight for you until the very end, that’s my promise to you.” I reply, kissing her forehead.
“I’ll fight for you too. I’ll fight for us. This is different… Marriage is so different from just dating. You and I are in this together for life. I know I’m stubborn. I know I’m difficult to deal with, I’ll do better.” Mila smirks. I laugh and pin her under me, my forearms are on either side of her head.
“Your attitude is very easy to deal with. You’re a brat sometimes but it’s nothing I can’t handle.” I laugh, kissing her slowly. “But you’re mine, whether you like it or not.”
“I love it. I love you.” Mila smiles. “Our promise is sealed with a kiss, isn’t it?”
I kiss her mouth and cheeks, nodding. “Of course it is, Angel.”
The memory fades from my head. Everything she said that night resounds in my head. I can’t sit her and feel sorry for myself and drink myself to death anymore. She made me promise her that I’d fight for her, and that we’d never separate. It’s my fault she pushed away, it’s my fault she doesn’t want to be near me. I have to fight for her, I have to keep my promise.
The first thing I decided to do is not sign the papers. If Mila wants a fight, that’s what she’s going to get. I can’t take her just being a memory that I can see in the world around me. She has to see that she is my world. She’s my view.

Dust Bunnies #1: A pleasure to meet you, O Terrapin Mine
Words: 2,481
Pairing: Leosagi
Rating: E
Warnings: No actual content warnings, but this whole ficlet is a Destiny 2 AU and... D2 lore is so goddamn complicated that I am not going to explain it here. Just. Cliff notes: The turtles are essentially zombie space super heroes resurrected by a silent mechanical god known as the Traveller and Usagi is a robot that used to be a human but was stuffed into said robot frame by a madman who wanted to become immortal through technology.
--
Ada-1 calls him over comms. Something about a newly forged sword he would want a look at. Inspired by a blade carried by Uldren Sov. He doesn’t know how much he likes the idea of using something related to Cayde’s killer, but Ada insists, saying she knows he appreciates the older ways of combat. She also adds something about a new spin on the old ways, and Leonardo honestly has no clue what to make of that.
All of that doubt leads to a faux pas of sorts. There’s a new face in the armory, an exo like Ada, but unfamiliar, as Leonardo felt the mystery sword would be. So he hesitates. Freezes really, long enough that Ada actually chuckles.
“This is Usa-5, Guardian. He won’t bite.”
Leo coughs, continues forward, and holds out one of his bulky, three fingered hands. Usa-5 stares at it curiously for a moment, then bows. Leo blinks, then follows suit, smiling a little under his helmet at such a formal, antiquated greeting.
When he rises he can’t help the one word that slips out, raised at the end like a question. “Usa?”
The new exo doesn’t speak, instead Ada-1 steps in to break the beat of silence.  “Yes,” she says, amusement still laced into her voice, “Usa is intentional.
Leo’s eyes are still fixed on… him? Usa-5 is clearly styled to be more masculine, his metal body has sharper angles than Ada’s, even if there is still some curves along his—
Leo’s eyes fly back up, thankful that his helmet is there to cover the sudden heat that flares up into his cheeks.  That face. So very distinct in its shaping. It’s why he’d asked about ‘Usa’ in the first place. The eyes are nothing remarkable. Like most other exo’s, they glow bright and occasionally shutter closed like camera lenses, but… but the metal below them doesn’t shape to form lips, or even a recess and volume visualizer like Ada-1’s. Usa-5’s alloys instead bend out to a tip of what Leo can only describe as a snout. That isn’t all though, really it’s not even the most notable feature. No, even more obvious is the tall triangular antennae that flick and sway as Usa-5 stares him down. Leonardo finds himself wondering if he’s ever seen a more charming exo.
He doesn’t ask that. Instead he turns back toward Ada, and tries to word his actual question as carefully as he can. “Not to offend, but is he here because of the new sword or…?”
Neither of them bristle. Ada responds with a nod. “Yes.” Then she tilts her head a little and concedes, “…and no. Usa-5 did indeed craft the blade I called you here for, but he is also here as part of a… training program?”
“An apprentice of yours then?” Leo says it with a playful note to his voice, and gets the sarcastic bite he expects back from Ada.
She rolls her eyes. “Something to that effect I suppose. You see, as much I would love to spend all my precious time attending to you guardians, I simply can’t, especially with the hours you all keep. Still, I and the rest of the armory felt that the forge should continue to be available at all hours if possible. The solution is simple enough. I’ve begun to train others to monitor this post, with Usa-5 being the first of a hand picked few.”
Leo nods, smiles, and turns back to the new face. “So I’ll be seeing more of you then?”
There’s enough of a pause that Leonardo almost doesn’t expect a response, but no, Usa-5 is indeed capable of speech. “Yes, guardian.” He says with a curt nod.
Leonardo enters the armory backward: smile on his face, helmet in his hand, ghost at his side, and still chuckling at something Michelangelo said before speeding off to find Donnie.
He turns, and just like last time, freezes. This time, Usa-5 does too. His eyes snap from place to place along Leonardo’s body in a way that by now is completely familiar. When him and his brothers had first been resurrected by the Traveler’s light, there had been questions, wonder, disgust, outrage, curiosity, but between the existence of Exo’s and Awoken, and the undeniable fact that all of them had been chosen, many had gotten used to the presence of four mutated turtles in their ranks. The vanguard’s approval and recognition helped too of course. Not many dared to question Ikora or Zavala individually, and when they agreed on something, well there wasn’t much to do but go along with it.
Still, new lights and rare visitors to the last city were caught off guard at times. Especially when they took any of their armor off. Usa is a bit more tactful than the new lights though, and cuts his stare with another traditional bow. “Guardian.”
Leonardo mimics the movement and takes a moment to contend with the deja vu. When he rises, Okami has already drifted forward, shell twisting to and fro as he inspects what he missed last time. There’s a pause where the only sound is the clicking and whirring of his ghost as he analyzes, then Okami turns, and his mechanical voice is as smug as Leonardo’s ever heard. “You’re right Leo, he is definitely… interesting.”
The teasing makes Leo’s face burn bright and this time there’s no helmet to cover it up. Usa-5 doesn’t seem to pick up on the salacious undertones though, and simply looks at Leo quizzically. “I appreciate being of interest, but I can’t possibly imagine what was so fascinating. I barely spoke last time we met.” Then the metal plates of Usa-5’s snout shift in an unusual way. It takes Leo longer than he wants to admit to realize the change is a gentle smile.
“Y-Your sword.” He says because that’s the first thing that comes to mind. He means the weapon of course, but can already hear Okami turning that into a double entendre later. He squashes that thought down. “It’s been very useful.”
Another shift of metal. The smile is wider now, more enthused than gentle. “Oh good. And it continues to interact with the void light you imbued it with as intended?”
“Yes. Just as you described and demonstrated.”
“Excellent! And what do you think of the projectile overall?”
Leonardo reaches behind him and pulls the sword from its sheath with the sound of metal against leather. It hums in his hands as he holds it out horizontally, pulsing with vibrant purple void light. He recalls how easily the sharp blade broke through hordes of Hive, Eliskni, Cabal but… any sword could do that.
No, what Usa will want to hear are stories like the time he and Donnie were pinned down by a Vex Hydra, tense and scared as they watched Raphael’s ghost slowly repair his broken body in the open. He’ll want to know how the sword’s projectiles buffeted back the hulking mechanical frame long enough for Spike to finish fixing their brother, long enough for them to regroup and win the day.
Leonardo opens his mouth to relay all that, but the recounting sticks in his throat like taffy. There’s another aspect that he isn’t sure he should voice. How he always feels safest with a sword in his hand, even when he knows that the more standard firearms of the Tower and Black Armory are more practical, are safer. Donnie had told him it was likely a memory, something he only half remembered from their past, mortal lives. Regardless of the reason, a ranged blade, a “caster frame” as Ada-1 had called it, allowed him to not have to compromise. Allowed him to always feel secure under fire.
“It’s.” He swallows. “I never would have thought of it, but that part has been invaluable. Really, words can’t express my gratitude.”
Usa-5’s shutter eyes go wide, then click closed and open several times in rapid succession. “You mean it?”
Leonardo nods once, curt and sharp, and Usa-5’s smile blossoms into a bright, beaming thing that Leo can’t help but match.
"Hunter."
"I've graduated beyond Guardian now?"
"I am learning. Your roles. Your... Vanguard, and the titles associated with it. The Black Armory was never concerned with such things. Until recently that is."
Leonardo smirks. "I see. I appreciate the interest. Ada-1 still calls me Guardian. Just... don't make it obvious you're developing a soft spot. Secret's safe with me."
Usa-5's mechanical 'ears' flick downward, hinting at embarrassment or at the very least the fact that he's caught off guard. Just like a rabbit, Leonardo thinks.
Leonardo holds the little tin package gingerly, rubbing his fingers over the cool metal. He’s already delivered Ikora’s and Zavala’s cookies and he’s of course picked out more targeted gifts for his brothers, but he’s questioned and reconsidered this Dawning present over and over.
Baked goods are standard, friendly, but not considered and personal like what he gave his family. He’s had deeper conversations with Usa-5 now. Not anything terribly profound but more than casual greetings and small talk. That’s how he’s learned of Usa-5’s love for vanilla shortbread. That’s how he learned that Usa-5 hadn’t celebrated the dawning in a long, long while.
“If you don’t make a move soon I’m going to charge in and tell him how much of a chicken you are.” Leonardo startles at Okami’s words, then glares at the little laughing menace. He’s never known another ghost that takes so much delight in teasing its guardian. Even Klunk, fun loving though he is, usually teases others with Michelangelo.
“I’m—“ he goes to scold his ghost, but then pauses, sighs, and looks down at his gift again. “What if it’s too much?”
“Oh please! They’re cookies! I bet you fifty thousand glimmer he got you some too.”
Leonardo rolls his eyes. As ghost and guardian, their resources are intertwined, so any glimmer of his also belongs to Okami. Once Drifter had taught them what gambling was though, there was always some sort of bet from his ghost. Even if it didn’t really count as such. Especially when it didn’t count.
“I don’t—“
Okami starts to drift backward toward the Black Armory’s entrance. “I’m gonna do it!”
Leonardo lurches forward, grabbing for his ghost’s traitorous form, only for Okami to dart away once, twice, thrice. Leo almost has him, the little demon, just—
“Hunter? Are you alright?”
Leo turns slowly, and sees Usa-5’s bright eyes staring into him, all curiosity and concern. Okami speaks before he can, calling out cheerfully. “A joyous Dawning to you, Usa-5.”
Leo wants to cringe into himself, into dust, into a puddle on the floor, even as Usa-5 five calls back cheerfully, “Yes! A happy Dawning to you as well, Ghost. And you too, Hunter.”
It’s too much. Usa won’t even use his name. Even something as surface level as baked goods is too obviously sentimental to be appropriate. Especially when they’re homemade, especially when Leo remembered his favorite from an offhand comment said weeks ago. Maybe he could just—
“I— I got you something. Well. More… made you something.” It takes Leonardo a moment to realize those words are not his own, but Usa-5’s. “It’s nothing extravagant or unusual, but I did not wish to go overboard, and Ada said this would be… appropriate.”
Leo’s gaze drifts down from the bright eyes, the metal snout. Usa-5 is holding out a sword in both hands. A finely crafted, honed thing with a long, thin metal blade that has frost creeping along its back edge. Leo immediately feels the pulsing weight of darkness energy, of stasis, of control.
“How—“
“The Drifter infused it for me. He was very helpful once I asked, though he kept pestering me with strange questions.”
“Oh I bet he did…” Okami says it with an edge that implies a lot of… something. Leo guesses there might be another entendre in there somewhere, but before he can really start puzzling it out, Okami continues, more cheerfully, “That’s great! Fantastic really, since Leonardo got you something too.”
Leo freezes as those words float out into the air. He’s ashamed to admit that he does consider ending Okami right then and there for the briefest of moments, then even more embarrassing, he contemplates running for many, many more moments.
“Oh! That’s very kind of you. I—“ There’s a stuttering whirr that sounds a lot like cogs and wires getting tangled up. For a moment Leo even considers that there might be a serious malfunction in Usa-5’s artificial voice box or metallic jaw. It is kind of just… hanging open. But then the muzzle clicks shut and opens a second later with a gentle, joyous smile. “Thank you.”
Okami doesn’t say anything else, he simply floats out of the way and turns toward his guardian. Deferring to him, but also… egging him on almost.
Leo takes the hint and power walks down the hall, hand already outstretched to offer what seems like a measly gift next to Usa-5’s sword. Each movement is mechanical and stiff, more robotic than any exo, ghost, or Vex Leonardo had ever seen. “Here I— um. I-I’m pretty sure I remembered correctly.”
Usa-5’s shifts the sword to one hand and lets it drop to his side. Each movement seems like water next to what Leonardo was… attempting a moment ago. Usa plucks the tin up with one sleek, intricate hand. They too look like the picture of grace next to the thick, heavy, three-fingered mitts the mutation left Leo and his brothers with. He does his best not to dwell on the difference.
Watching Usa work is a much better use of his time anyway. The way his thumb flexes, strains against the metal cap for a moment, before it yields and pops open. The way that digit keeps lifting, flicking the lid to the side to reveal what Leo can only hope is a prize worth the effort.
“These—“ There’s a moment where lenses whirr, shutter closed. Then Usa-5’s muzzle flexes and spreads into that bright, beaming sort of smile again. “You did remember. Vanilla shortbread, and—“ he giggles, actually *giggles.* Leo didn’t know a member of the black armory could do that. He does know it’s the most wonderful sound he’s heard since the Traveler resurrected him. “Look at them. Shaped like little blades.”
Usa-5 had been focused on the gift until that moment, but when his bright eyes and shining smile turn up, back toward Leo, there’s a funny little flutter his heart and stomach do simultaneously.
He knows he should say something. ‘You’re welcome’ ‘I’m glad you like them.’ Nothing comes out. Leo doesn’t mind though. Usa-5’s next words are better than anything he could have come up with.
“Thank you Hu—“ a pause, a shifting of the lenses in those glowing eyes, then, “Thank you, Leonardo.”

‘neath the black, the sky looks dead
She’s walking on a ghost ship. Boots treading where the dead recently lay. Darcy’s hands are shaking, not in fear but from too many hours on her feet scrambling between Doctors Foster and Cho.
“I’m awake,” Darcy says to herself, frowning down at the tablet in her hand. She’s walking through the belly of the Ark Three scavenging whatever they can from the wreck of the ship like sea creatures harvesting a whale fall, back when whales swam and the sea teemed with life.
“Ensign Lewis, how much longer?”
Darcy scrunches up her nose, “I’ve found their genetic library and seed vault. I need a few minutes to cross reference their library with ours, Captain Rogers. Huh…that’s weird.” She looks from the Ark One tablet in hand to the Ark Three tablet in its plinth.
“Weird how?” Steve asks, looking over Darcy’s shoulder.
“You know, I was a cryo bay tech and this is below my pay grade. If we were getting paid and not on a spaceship built by a trillionaire headed for a planet that a space probe said looked shiny enough for a colony-“
“Lewis.”
“What I am trying to say in my official, unofficial designation as ship’s librarian/archivist/future experimental archeologist is that half of these species shouldn’t be here. On our ship, S.H.I.E.L.D. and SI sent us with the DNA of livestock animals: chickens, sheep, cows, and pigs, that sort of thing.”
“Right,” Steve nods. “We're a colony ship so it makes sense that we are sent with everything needed to establish a working colony. Like Parker’s vegetable crops keeping us alive.”
“Look,” Darcy says. She shuffled across the room, tablet forgotten as she read aloud, the neat little labels on the drawers, under her breath. “Here.”
“Apis mellifera,” Steve mouths. “You’re gonna have to help me here, I’m military, not science.”
“Honey bees,” Darcy says.
“Bees have been gone…I don’t know, a long time.”
“The Smithsonian had several species of bees in their genetic library. The same library that was supposedly destroyed in that terrorist attack. I’m guessing that a lot of these species were in that library too,” Darcy rocks on her heels, waving her hand at the glowing walls around them.
“You think Stark, the genius, that built the tin can, we are traveling the universe in, stole a library from the Smithsonian Institute?”
“I’m not, not saying it.”
The Captain, Acting Captain, pinches the bridge of his nose. “How much of this do you want to take?”
“All of it,” Darcy replies. She doesn’t need to think about it. Not really. The Ark Three is a crypt orbiting a dwarf exo planet. The only hope is with the Ark One, her crew, and their destination Proxima B.
“I really don’t want to be the one to say there is no room on Ark One.”
“You don’t have to,” Jane says, stepping into the storage library. There’s a smear of grease on her temple, and a tablet held on her open palm. “We’re going to take their cryo bay with us.”
Dr Foster, the Ark’s chief engineer, taps her tablet with a fingertip. A three-dimensional schematic of an Ark unfolds in the air above the screen. “The Ark bays are modular, built in pieces for easy assembly, alteration, and dissembling at Proxima B or wherever the other ships have been sent. We lost our cryo pod bays, but the connections, here and here,” Jane says, pointing out to places on the Ark with a finger. “…are intact, with a little work. One bay on this ship is untouched. I can bridge the gap. We can do this with your permission, Captain.”
“Acting Captain,” Rogers says. He folds his arms across his chest, brows furrowed, blue eyes staring through the Ark diagram. “Do it.”
…..
A little Syfy’s the Ark au. The show has it’s flaws, it’s very cheap at times, very incredibly cheap, and I want to burn the cheap not-a-smart-watch straps they are wearing. But the characters grow on you and it has potential, at least enough to inspire me to write this little scene.
While what I wrote isn’t wholly accurate to the plot of the show, it is how I would write it. If I could write more than a few paragraphs in as many months. Ah, well, it’s fun to play with the headcanon at least. Thanks for reading. I’m sorry I don’t have more to give you.

So... I've been thinking lately like I usually do. I usually try to stay on the rules of AU and many other stuff as closely as I can, to get 100% percent. I heard several times that I lack 'artistic freedom'.
This time I made a small decision to fck canon rules in D2 and go with my uncanon bullsh!t. Just... Keep going and less worry about rules.
I want more magic flower exo man. Thank you.
Small story (???) under keep reading.
I don’t remember much from this day.
Everything was wet. I was wet and NOT in this way. I was surrounded by water. When I emerged from this… pond, whatever this place was, I felt lost, disoriented.
However, in that place, in that pond, for a moment I felt safe, good with myself, even though I had no idea who I was or what I was. This ray of light. Some strange sign, I don't even know exactly what. It split the darkness, showing me the lush vegetation of this reservoir. It was a very nice place when I remember it. Unfortunately, I have no idea where it is.
If I had known what awaited me after leaving it, maybe I would have stayed in this place a little longer. Or forever.
You are reborn without your consent, you have to fit into the vision of others and be constantly under their judgment. Nobody cares about your opinion or will. Besides, what's the point of talking about your own opinion or will if you don't even know who you are. You have to live in this ugly world filled with pain and sadness. What is delicate and emotional is despised. All that matters is strength and having more and more of it. And for what purpose? To defend what is despised.
A strange paradox.
I still don't think I'm not fit to be a guardian. I still think it was some kind of mistake. Maybe my ghost made this mistake, maybe the Traveler. No one knows. Now I have to deal with the consequences of this choice myself.
Maybe everything would be easier if the dead me was still lying at the bottom of that pond.
But here I am. Alive. And I have to struggle with what this life has given me.

Chapter Seventeen
(Prev//Next)
Prompt: You’re the most important thing to EXO, you’ve been with them for years, and when you wind up missing, it greatly upsets them. Their journey to find you and bring you home starts a chain of events that leads to facing their own greatest fears, making unlikely allies, traveling to other worlds again and finally gathering the strength to take down their greatest enemy. Along the way you get to see their true colors and fall in love all over again, although you might come to realize you don’t like what you see in the mirror.

“Destiny? What do you mean?”
“This is a safe haven.” Suho explained. “I’ll show you, but you all have to be calm.”
“You’re not exactly making me feel any better here.” Taeyong commented.
“Just follow me.”
Others were hesitant to follow, but they did so. Lay took your hand and led you along with the group. You looked around, realizing this was some kind of ship, and that brought up so many more questions. At least now it made sense what Suho had said earlier, the ship’s name was Destiny. You came to some steps, although Suho told everyone to give him a moment and went up.
“Captain!”
From below you heard some happy cheers, followed by running. Soon enough you saw someone with Suho and then they noticed you.
“Wow… that’s a lot of stowaways.”
“It’s a long story, but the new faces won’t be staying. They just needed a safe place to stop, hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all. You wouldn’t bring enemies on my ship. Welcome aboard everyone.”
You went up onto the main deck, taking in your surroundings again and being amazed. You weren’t out on the ocean where you would find such a ship, but sailing through the sky. You ran over to the edge to look overboard.
“This is amazing.”
“Careful now, don’t want to lose anyone.”
Xiumin came over and pulled you back, reminding you to behave yourself. You apologized and promised to stay close. You were brought over back to the crowd and over to the gentleman you had seen talking with Suho before.
“We should probably introduce you. Y/n, this is the captain of the ship.”
“It’s nice to meet you.”
“The pleasure is all mine.” The gentleman bowed. “I’m Hongjoong, captain of the Ateez crew, and this is our lovely ship Destiny.”
“It’s wonderful.”
You got to meet the rest of the crew as well and struck up a conversation as the leaders stepped away to talk among themselves.
“I’m Taeyong, leader of NCT. Thanks for allowing us to remain on your ship.”
“A friend of Suho’s is a friend of mine.”
“I want to ask though… how did you meet Suho?”
“He helped us long ago to save our world, and thanks to them we now roam free, always ready to help others. Destiny is our safe place, and for you as well. You’re always welcomed on my ship.”
“Thank you for your hospitality. I hope we cross paths again under better circumstances.”
“I’m sure we will.”
“Do you think you and your people are good to travel?” Suho asked. “Or do you need to rest. I’m sure-”
“No, no, we’re alright.” Taeyong assured. “We should return home and fully rest.”
“Okay then.”
You all gathered to see the Neos off, and you hoped to see them again some time in the future. With the third party gone there was a shift in the atmosphere.
“So what really brought you by?” Hongjoong asked. “You are not one to show up unannounced.”
“I’m here to collect on the favor we’ve asked of you.”
“Ah, I see.”
“Wait.” You asked. “What favor?”
You didn’t answer, but a look was exchanged between Hongjoong and Wooyoung. The other boy went off to the captain’s quarters and returned with an hourglass moments later.
“What is that? It looks so cool.”
“It’s called the Cromer.” Wooyoung explained, handing it over to you. “We don’t use it as much anymore, but it serves another purpose now.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ll see.”
You only pondered on that for a moment before the Cromer floated up into the air and away from you. DO had stepped away from the group, and the Cromer flew over to him. In the blink of an eye the hourglass had shattered, but all the pieces remained in the air. All the glass was separated and you could tell DO was focused on it. One moment there was glass and then it turned to sand. You had no idea what was going on, let alone as Kai stepped forward and allowed the sand to pour down onto his hand.
“What are you doing…” You mumbled.
“Remembering something long forgotten.”
“Why are you going there?” Hongjoong asked.
“We can’t keep running.” Suho stated. “We have to face our enemies head on.”
“What does that mean?” You questioned.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Chen assured. “Promise.”
“Kai?” Suho said.
“I got it.”
You didn’t know what that meant, but you watched as DO put the Cromer back together as if nothing had ever happened. It returned to your hands and you looked it over in awe.
“You could stay a while.” Hongjoong suggested. “Get some rest and prepare.”
“Can’t keep pushing things off.” Lay said. “But thank you.”
“If you guys need any help, you know where to find us.”
It was sad to be saying goodbye to new friends so soon, but you went wherever EXO went without hesitation. You hoped to see them again and get to know them more when the time comes. You gave the Cromer back to Yeosang, and they all wished you well. Sehun and Chanyeol took your hands, and you all said one last goodbye before you closed your eyes, ready for the next adventure. The quiet and calm of the open sky faded into the sounds of nature, and you opened your eyes to find yourself surrounded by trees.
“Woah… where are we…”
“Some place we never thought we’d return to.” Baekhyun mumbled. “Come on, we have some place to go.”
“You guys really need to stop being so cryptic.”
“I know, sorry. We’re still processing everything too.”
You followed the boys through the words, quite intrigued by the fact they knew exactly where they were going. After a while you came to this cabin. It seemed abandoned with nature having taken it back, but it all retreated as Lay waved his hand. You went with the boys inside, seeing all the dust that’s been collecting. Sehun was quick to blow that all away, but a silent stillness remained.
“So… what is this place?”
“An old home.” Xiumin said.
“Are we staying?”
“For the foreseeable future, yes.”
“Then we should start cleaning up.”
Your bright spirit was a bit of a contrast with the rest of the atmosphere, but the others agreed with you. The others helped you clean up, making this place feel more like a home. While cleaning you found an interesting picture. It was a group photo of the boys with a handful of unfamiliar faces. There was something strange about this whole place you couldn’t quite put your finger on, and this picture added to that uneasiness. Before you could dwell on it more you heard Lay calling out to you, and you made your way to the back of the cabin, finding a greenhouse. You stepped into a garden you had never seen before, amazed by its beauty.
“Wow…”
“This is an old garden of mine, and you can see the plants have taken very good care of each other.”
“They must have missed you.”
“I missed them too.”
“What happened here? I saw a picture of you and some other people. Was this home before you met me?”
“For a long time it was, but we had to flee.”
“So why are you back now?”
“Cause we need to fix things.”
“Fix things?” You thought for a moment. “Is RF the reason you left this world?”
“Yes. This place was home, and then we wound up being held captive. When we escaped, we left this world in their hands. We have to correct that mistake.”
“That’s dangerous… facing RF head on… especially if the two of you have history here.” “I know, but it has to be done. For starters we need to check in with old friends.”
“Old friends?”
“You can meet them later.” Kai said as he entered the garden. “We have to find them first.”
“And how are you gonna do that?”
“A lot of remembering.”
Kai stepped forward, going into the garden and sitting himself down. Some vines crept over, wrapping around his arms and waist. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, making you wonder what he was doing. You had never seen Kai in the garden like this before.
“Are you picking anything up?”
“I can sense them… but it’s faint…”
“It’s been years at this point. Will that be enough or should I look for them?”
“No. This should be enough.”
After a while longer Kai opened his eyes, the vines moving away and releasing him. He gave you a big smile and came over to press a kiss to your cheek.
“Suho, Sehun, and I will be going out for a bit. We’ll be back as soon as we can.”
“What? Can’t I go?”
“This place is unknown, and it’s best if you stay here where it’s safe.”
“Then why not bring our house here?”
“We don’t want to draw attention to ourselves. Besides this place was the blueprint of the home we have now. Stay and be good.”
“Alright… don’t be gone too long.”
“Hopefully we won’t.”
The trio went off, and you focused on making this old place feel new. Kai scouted ahead first to make sure no one would get hurt and that they could lay low. Alleys always worked in their favor.
“Where are we?” Sehun asked.
“No idea.” Kai admitted. “Since the frequency is so faint I can’t get an exact location, but they have to be around here somewhere.”
“So like a needle in a haystack.”
“At least I narrowed down the search, didn’t I?”
“Don’t fight.” Suho reminded. “We have no idea what they’re like anymore after all this time. We might not be welcomed. Just lay low and don’t draw attention.”
The area they were in wasn’t that popular, but there were still plenty of people around going about their day. They seamlessly blended in, walking down the street and looking around. Nothing much had seemed to change about the world, but that wasn’t entirely a good thing. While walking Sehun had gotten a strange feeling, stopping before a building.
“Sehun?”
“There’s something about this place.”
“What place? A dojo?”
“I can’t explain it.”
“Wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.”
The three went inside, seeing that the place was empty, except for one gentleman. They were cleaning the weapons rack. They began their welcome speech and turned around, only to cut themselves short.
“Suho… Kai… Sehun… is that really you?”
“Surprised to see us. Shownu?”
“I thought I’d never see you again.”
Shownu ran over to embrace the three in a hug, still processing that they were really there. So much had happened since they last spoke. There was a lot to catch up on, but something else was more important.
“What are you doing here? I didn’t think you’d return.”
“We have to right our wrongs.” Suho explained. “We’re sorry we took so long.”
“It’s just incredible to see you now.”
“What about the others?” Kai asked. “How are they?”
“I’m not so sure. We don’t keep in touch. It was better if we remained separate. Although for a while I was in contact with Wonho, but he hasn’t been around in months. I’m worried something happened to him but I have no way of finding out.”
“That’s alright. We plan to reunite everyone. If you don’t have any pressing business, we could go now.”
“Absolutely. It’d be so good to see everyone’s face again.”
Once again Kai relied on a faded feeling, going ahead to make sure everything was safe before returning for the others. Shownu did need a moment to recover from the nauseating feeling of teleportation before they could continue. It was another small town, but nothing vastly unfamiliar to Shownu. Neither of them knew where to look so it was back to walking the streets. Although this time around they had someone with a slightly better eye than them.
“Have you been avoiding me?”
“Huh… Shownu!”
Wonho ran over to hug his hyung, embracing them tightly with disbelief clear on his face. This seemed like a dream, more so when he realized his friend was not alone.
“You… is it really you?”
“Long time no see, right?”
“I can’t believe this.” Wonho stated. “What’s going on?”
“We’ll explain later, right now we’re just trying to find everyone.” Suho said. “Did you keep in touch with anyone?”
“No. Only Shownu, but that didn’t last long.”
“How did you find me anyway?”
“It’s a bit complicated… I received a watch in the mail with some instructions and a location… I was hesitant to use it but when I did, I found my way to you.”
“That must be what I sensed.” Sehun said. “The energy from you traveling back and forth. Without it we might not have found Shownu so easily.”
“I’m glad I could help.” Wonho teased. “So who are we looking for next?”
“No idea.” Suho admitted. “We’re just going to the nearest signal.”
“Got it. Ready when you are.”
“You’re very eager.”
“It’s been a long time.”
“I know.”
The five of them made the journey to their next location. Another town, and another needle in a haystack. Still, the more of them they found, the better they all felt. This time around everyone was surprised to find Minhyuk with Changkyun in a cafe. The reunion there was far bigger than the last.
“Have you two been in touch this whole time?” Wonho asked.
“Not consistently.” Minhyuk admitted. “Changkyun would stop by once in a while to check up on me, nothing more.”
“I have incredible timing don’t you think?” Changkyun teased. “I’m so happy to see you all, but also surprised.”
“When we get back to the cabin we can talk.”
“That place is still standing? I would have thought for sure RF would have destroyed it or something.”
“They’d never be able to get close.”
It was great to see each other, but they still had others to find. With the next jump some had gotten used to the nausea, and others not so much.
“Gosh, that always feels weird.” Changkyun commented. “So, who’s here?”
“We don’t know.” Kai said. “Just following a feeling.”
The group walked around for a while. They weren’t sure who to be looking for but once again Sehun had a strange feeling. He led the group inside a building, finding Jooheon behind a glass in the middle of work.
“Jooheon.”
“Hm?” The boy got up. “You… oh my gosh.”
Jooheon rushed out to embrace his brothers, tears stinging his eyes. Suho and the others let them have their reunion, aware they hadn’t seen much of each other in a long time too.
“What’s the reason behind all this?” Jooheon asked. “I thought we’d never see each other again.”
“It’s a long story.” Kai said. “But we’ll get to it. We just need to find the others first.”
“About that…”
“What?”
“I… I wish I could have told you all this sooner… but Kihyun… he was in a car accident…  he’s…”
“I’m so sorry.” Suho mentioned.
The news took everyone by surprise, although Sehun had been looking around. Once again he felt something was off, except it was different this time around. He stepped away from the group, and Kai noticed, following him.
“Sehun, what is it?”
“I’m not sure… but I feel like someone else is here…”
“Someone else?”
Kai wasn’t sure what Sehun meant, but he had his own way of figuring things out. He closed his eyes and took a moment, then disappeared. Moments later he returned and threw someone to the ground. This person had a visor covering their eyes like some VR headset, and seemed to be wearing some kind of armor.  The others had noticed this as well.
“What the heck?”
“This person’s been spying on us. Any ideas?”
“RF let us go.” Minhyuk said.
“That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t keep an eye on you.”
“They weren’t following us.” Sehun added. “So they must have been here keeping an eye on Jooheon.”
“Me?”
That’s when the spy decided to move, making an attempt to run but Kai was quick to follow. The two engaged in some quick combat. This person was skilled, but Kai’s powers gave him an advantage. He managed to land a hard kick to the face, causing the other to slam to the ground. There was the audible crack of the visor and then all movement ceased. Shownu and Suho flipped over the spy, realizing a familiar face was under the mask.
“Kihyun…”
Everyone was confused and shocked. The news they had just been told suddenly became a lie, and this brought up so many questions. They all agreed that they couldn’t stay here for much longer so Suho made the call to go back home, taking everyone with them.
“Clear the table.”
Shownu called out orders as he carried Kihyun inside, Jooheon quickly wiped everything off the nearest table. Everyone gathered around as Kihyun was laid out on the table, helping to get the gear off of him. Others that had heard the commotion came to see what was going on, although there were no time for greetings. Things were taken off Kihyun to make him more comfortable, but the visor wouldn’t come off.
“So…” Minhyuck spoke. “How do we get that off him? Seems attached to his face and I don’t wanna… what if I hurt him?”
“You won’t.”
Another voice caught everyone’s attention. They all looked over at the door, seeing a tall figure hidden under an umbrella walk in. Once the group had gotten to the old house Suho made it rain to cover their tracks and it was pretty bad outside. This person seemed pretty clean, barely a drop of water on their umbrella, and not a speck of mud on them despite the surrounding woods. The umbrella was lowered, Hyungwon revealing his face.
“There’s a button on the left side of the visor. Press it and it will come off without issue.”
No one moved but Minhyuck, feeling around and finding the button. When he got the visor off he tossed it to Chen. Kihyun didn’t react, the other boy starting to shake him.
“Kihyun… Kihyun, wake up.”
“He won’t.” Hyungwon said. “And I suggest you don’t fry the visor.”
“What do you mean he won’t wak-” Shownu said but was cut off.
“It was supposed to be me!”
Jooheon yelled, storming over to Hyungwon. The older boy didn’t move, not at all afraid of the other. It was clear Jooheon wanted to fight, but Wonho was quick to run over and step in front of Hyungwon, holding his arm out. Shownu and Changkyun had moved as well, grabbing Jooheon and pulling him back despite his protests.
“It was supposed to be me!”
“Jooheon, what are you talking about?” Changkyun asked. “You’re not making any sense.”
“I was supposed to be in the accident! Not Kihyun! I saw you there, Hyungwon, I saw you there at the crash site!”
“What?” Shownu’s grip got tighter. “Jooheon, stop this and explain yourself.”
Jooheon kept glaring at Hyungwon, wanting to punch him, but he stopped fighting when Shownu asked. The two holding him waited a moment, making sure he was calm before letting him go. Wonho stayed with Hyungwon, but wasn’t sure what was going on.
“I’ve always felt that something was off about the accident.” Jooheon began. “I’ve had dreams of it, where I’m the one in the driver’s seat, it felt so real, too real, to just be a dream. I remember seeing you there when the ambulance took Kihyun, and then you disappeared. It was supposed to be me right? You changed that somehow. Why? It should be me on that table!”
“I couldn’t let RF get to you, I’m sorry.”
“Wait, you’re saying that Jooheon’s dreams are real?” Minhyuk asked.
“Those aren’t dreams, but memories of another timeline. I’m surprised you retain fragments of the accident.”
“So this…” Changkyun was mumbling. “This was what you needed to change?”
“What?” Shownu questioned. “What are you talking about?”
“Hyungwon came to me once, long before the accident, he asked me for a favor, said it was important. He needed to change something in the timeline, told me when and where Minhyuck would be, asked me to look after him, keep him safe for as long as possible.”
“Wait, you’ve been in contact with Hyungwon this whole time?”
“Yes… yes, I have.”
“So, that’s how you found me? I found that watch, a customer left it. I was just messing with it, I didn’t know it…” Minhyuk trailed off as he came to a realization, looking at Hyungwon. “You left that for me! You wanted me to use it!”
“Yes. It’s why I left one at Wonho’s place too.”
“It was you? You… you set us up?” Wonho seemed hurt. “Why? WHY!?”
“I needed a distraction. You’re all on RF’s radar, if you were found to be time traveling they’d focus on you since you were messing with the timeline.”
“You gave one to Kihyun too!” Jooheon questioned. “Didn’t you! You knew he would feel guilty over what happened and would want to change it! Why didn’t you just stop the accident!”
“You don’t think I tried to stop it, despite knowing better. There are things that are fated to happen, that accident was one of them. It was going to happen, one way or the other, if not at that moment, then later. Every attempt I made to change it ended the same, Jooheon was severely hurt and taken by RF. I couldn’t stop it, but I could change who was taken.”
“Why! WHY!”
“What did you do?” Changkyun growled. “Kihyun didn’t just get into the driver’s seat…”
“I did what I just did here. I showed him the truth, the accident can’t be stopped, and I gave him the opportunity to save Jooheon.”
“No you manipulated him!” Jooheon spat. “I see no reason why it shouldn’t be me on the table.”
“It’s because of me.” Lay spoke up. “Isn’t?”
“Yes.” Hyungwon nodded. “I’m sorry.”
“Wait, what? What does Lay have to do with this.”
“Everything.” Xiumin added. “Jooheon, you know more about Lay’s plants than any of your friends. If RF got to you, they would learn that and… well I suppose Hyungwon knows what the outcome of that is.”
“You’re seriously defending him? He’s the one who betrayed us, who turned Baekhyun in, when you asked us to look after him.”
“We did.” Sehun got up. “But not Tao, right Hyungwon?”
“Yes. Tao asked me to bring Baekhyun in, he knew it wouldn’t end well if he was kept from the group any longer. I’m sorry.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Shownu asked.
“Cause he told me not to.”
“So you just betrayed us?” Wonho said. “You picked him over us?”
“That’s not it.”
“That’s exactly what you did!” Minhyuk yelled. “You betrayed us! And stayed with RF when they gave us an out!”
“He made a promise.” Kai added. “Isn’t that right? Tao could see the future if he focused with Luhan at his side. He knew what would happen if Baekhyun stayed away from us. He knew what would happen to him, to the others, and that we’d escape, but he knew we’d be back too. So, he needed someone to look after this world in our absence.”
“Yes.” Hyungwon admitted. “I made a promise, and that meant gaining RF’s trust, even if it meant losing you guys. I’m-”
“Don’t.” Wonho interrupted. “I don’t want to hear it, just wake Kihyun up and go.”
“I… I can’t… he’s comatose.”
“What!”
“The visor… it controls him, he’s lifeless without it.”
“So that’s what my fate was.” Jooheon said. “Comatose.”
“No… no it wasn’t. Messing with the timeline has a price, even when you find a loophole.”
“You… you killed him!” Changkyun shouted. “You killed Kihyun!”
“I’m sorry.”
Changkyun charged at Hyungwon, but he disappeared before he was grabbed. The boy fell to his knees distraught. He felt partially guilty for having helped Hyungwon in his plan, not knowing what the outcome would be. Shownu went over to comfort him, Wonho screaming as well and punching the wall. Minhyuk had fallen to his knees as well, holding Kihyun’s hand, his own silent tears falling.
“Fix this.” Jooheon looked at Lay. “You can heal him.”
“The mind is a far more complex thing to heal.”
“But you can do it.”
“I… I don’t know.”
“No, the answer is yes, you can fix him!”
“Jooheon, I don’t-”
“Don’t give me that crap, you can!”
“I don-”
“Maybe we can.” Baekhyun interrupted. “When Haechan and the others were stuck in the inbetween they were pretty much comatose. You woke them up, so you could-”
“We knew where their minds were, knew where to go and get them out. We have no idea where Kihyun is, he could be brain dead for all we know.”
“Then take him there.” Shownu spoke.
“What?”
“Take Kihyun’s mind to the inbetween, if he’s truly alive then you’ll find him there, right? And you can bring him back.”
“Do it.” Jooheon said. “Whatever that is, do it.”
“We can’t just do that.” Suho said. “The inbetween isn’t our place. We didn’t wake the others up, we helped one of their own go in and get them out. We can’t-”
“Then call your friends! Get them to do this!”
“Jooheon-”
“What do we have to lose?” Minhyuk added. “We didn’t know what had become of  Kihyun until now, but this isn’t living.”
“The inbetween becomes a personal hell if you stay there.” DO said. “It’s not-”
“Kihyun put himself in a car accident.” Wonho cut in. “He knew the consequences then, he’d understand them now. So whoever you need to call, call them and try to save him, that’s all we’re asking.”
It got quiet. Suho looked around at everyone, the decision had fallen to him. He took a breath then looked at Lay, nodding his head.
“Lay, DO, with me. Xiumin, you and Chen know what to make, the garden here is like the one back home, so you should have what you need. The rest of you look after y/n.”
You had heard the commotions from before, but Baekhyun had you stay hidden just to be safe. Nothing that was spoken made sense to you, not until the end and talking about the inbetween. You peeked your head around the corner, seeing this person unconscious on the table. Everyone seemed busy with things so you carefully approached them. You looked at them for a while before someone else approached. They looked you over and then pulled you into a hug.
“Y/n!”
You didn't react, confused as to who was hugging you and why. He had such a huge smile on his face, but it faltered when he saw your confusion.
“Y/n, it’s me, Wonho, we grew up together, remember?”
“What?”
“We went to elementary and high school together. You disappeared a few years ago, we thought you were dead.”
“Wait, what? You’re saying we know each other?”
“Yes.” Wonho pulled up a picture of you and him together. “What happened to you?”
You were quiet, staring at the picture, then you looked over at Chanyeol who was in the room. The sad look on their face told you everything you needed to know.
“I’m... I’m from here, this world is my home… why don’t I remember that! Why don’t I remember my past!”
You started to panic, drawing a blank on your childhood, on everything before knowing them. Cahnyeol took a step towards you but you backed away.
“No… what’s going on… why don’t I-”
“A lot happened when we met.” Suho added, having overheard things and coming over. “We met by chance and you helped us but RF caught up to us, we couldn’t just leave you for them to do who knows what so we took you with us. We never planned to come back here and we couldn’t return you either. We didn’t want you to feel home sick… so we made you forget your past…”
“I…”
You had tears in your eyes, the lack of memories making you feel so lost. Your past had always been a fuzzy thing, and when you thought back on it something else always came up to distract you. This wasn’t how you thought you’d get answers. Even if you did know Wonho you felt nothing familiar about him.
“It’s our fault. We got you involved, we never meant to, I swear, but we had to keep you safe.”
“Did you?” You spat, eyes flashing black for a moment. “What you did… was it really for my own good… or for yours.”
You stormed out, not wanting to hear anything anymore, having some new information to deal with. Once you were gone the others looked at each other, then Wonho.
“You knew y/n?” Suho questioned.
“Yes, and I thought I knew you too.”

A/N: Lots of requests for Baek pregnancy fics, so I tried to blend a couple of them together! Appropriate also in honor of Baekhyun’s return from the military! 🎉🎉🎉Enjoy!

“...that’s a nice dress…but I bet it would look better on my bedroom floor.”
You chuckled at the horrendous pickup line your husband was whispering in your ear.
“Ha, ha, ha, did you get that one from Junmyeon?”
“Hardly, baby, you know Junmyeon is innocent–I got that masterpiece from Chanyeol.”
You tried to formulate a suitably snarky response, but became distracted by Baekhyun slowly trailing his fingers up your back, lingering where your dress revealed naked skin. Leaning in, he placed frenzied kisses on your neck, signaling his desperation to get you into the honeymoon suite.
Normally, your mind would’ve been following the same path. You were, afterall, married to one of the most devilishly handsome men in the entire universe. Soft, fluffy hair, soulful eyes, sinful lips, large hands, and abs worthy of adoration–all yours to enjoy. You wanted nothing more than to get Baekhyun alone and have your wicked way with him. It had already been a year since your wedding, but you still couldn’t keep your hands off each other.
However, there was one thing alone bringing sense to your lust-addled brain: a secret–one you had yet to share with your overly-enthusiastic groom. You’d wanted to tell Baekhyun right away, but in typical Baekhyun-fashion, he’d throw you for a loop after his recent return from the military–a vowel renewal and surprise second honeymoon to Hawaii. With all the commotion, you’d thought it better to wait until it was all over, or at the very least, until you had a non-alcoholic piña colada in your hand.
Children had always been on the table, but always in a future sense. Baekhyun had his music career, which kept him incredibly busy, and you had your job as a restaurant critic. Both involved lots of travel and frequent late nights, so it had never really seemed like the right time. Putting a hand over your belly, you wondered how your husband would react to the news. Your heart beat fast in your chest, whether out of excitement or nervousness, you weren’t sure.
The car eased to a stop and you were pulled back to the present. Baekhyun swiftly grabbed your hand, escorting you out of the car and through the lobby. In what felt like ten seconds flat, you were checked in and giggling on the elevator, sharing sloppy, heated kisses like two two youngins giddy to experience their first times. When the elevator reached your floor, you yelped in surprise as Baekhyun hoisted you in his arms, princess-style, so he could “carry you over the threshold”.
When the door to your suite finally closed behind you, the air was heavy with anticipation and expectation of what the night would bring. Before you could get out a word, you were pressed against the door, fighting for air as Baekhyun’s lips tangled with yours. For a few minutes, you were lost, tightening your hands in his hair to secure what you desired.
Giving you a few moments of relief, Baekhyun trailed his lips downward, starting from your chin and stopping short when the neckline of your dress prevented him from going any lower. With a pout on his cherry-red lips, he started to ease down the fabric at your shoulders, placing small kisses each time he exposed more of your bare skin.
As your breath came out in small gasps, you knew that soon you’d lose yourself to him, entranced by the touch of his hands and his clever mouth. Using all your willpower, you freed your hands from the confines of his silky hair and laid them against this chest, attempting to hold him slightly away from you.
“Baek–”
He grabbed the hand against his chest, his lips leaving pointed kisses against your palm before continuing their journey up to your wrist.
“Baekhyun, stop,” you murmured, trying again to gain the attention of the man who was currently making your brain feel like scrambled eggs.
“Hmmm?” he responded absently, clearly only half-listening, as he continued on with his mission of seduction.
You ducked under his arm, which had been caging you against the door, hoping some physical space might help you both cool down. You ambled over and sat down in one of the fluffy arm chairs situated in the “living room” area of the suite. You would have preferred to sit on the bed, but didn’t think that would bode well for such a serious conversation.
Meanwhile, Baekhyun had seemed to finally realize that something was off. The glazed look had faded from his eyes and he looked vaguely confused to find you outside of his arms. He walked over, kneeling down in front of you so he could cup your face in his hands.
“What’s wrong, baby?”  He looked at you with concern, rubbing your cheeks in a comforting gesture.
“Baek–I have–I have something to tell you.” Your voice trembled a bit, betraying your nervousness.
“What is it, baby? You know you can tell me anything,” Baekhyun cooed in a soothing manner.
Warmth bloomed in your chest as his words washed over you. Your lovely Baek had a way of making you feel like all of life’s problems weren’t so important anymore. Feeling supremely comforted, you decided to just rip this off like a band-aid.
“Baek, I’m pregnant.” Finally, the words were out there and you internally sighed with relief that this secret was no longer yours alone.
The hands that had been stroking your cheeks stilled. Baekhyun’s eyes widened and without a word, he dropped his hands from your cheeks. Hands covering his own face, he scrubbed them up and down, as though coming to terms with what you’d just told him.
“Baek, are you ok—?”
Before you could finish your sentence, he shot forward like a rocket to gather you in his arms, peppering your face with kisses. Sitting back on his heels, he grinned, chuckling at a joke that only he was in on.
“So…you’re happy, I take it?”, you clarified, though you were pretty sure of the answer.
“Baby, I was fully preparing myself for you to tell me something horrible–like you wanted a divorce and were taking Mongryong with you--but this, this is excellent news!” Baekhyun pulled you up from the chair, wrapping his arms around your waist to lift you into the air.
You clutched at his shoulders, squealing as your feet left the ground. He spun you around in a circle until both of you were breathing heavily. Setting you down, he placed a kiss of your lips, which proved difficult since neither of you could stop grinning.
As your breathing slowed, Baekhyun moved to gently release the numerous clasps holding up the back of your dress. With each freed button, Baekhyun placed gentle kisses on your spine as more and more skin was revealed.
Gripping the top of your dress up as best you could, you stepped back from Baekhyun, enjoying as his eyes followed you like a hawk. Without fanfare, you let the garment drop to your feet, revealing the special wedding lingerie you’d saved for just this occasion alone.
“Baby, you wore this just for me?” he cooed, eyes heavy with appreciation. Advancing towards you, he ran his hands over the lacey material, as though luxuriating in the feel.
“Of course, love, who else?” you teased.
Thinking swiftly, you slowly backed towards the bed, challenge and mirth dancing in your eyes. With a wicked grin, Baekhyun lunged forward, ensnaring you within his grasp, and suddenly you felt yourself falling and landing atop the cushy bed. Baekhyun gently pressed you against his chest, tilting his head down to sweetly kiss your forehead.
Leaning up on your elbows, you moved to place a lingering kiss on his mouth. With deliberate slowness, Baekhyun guided your head until your foreheads touched. Sharing air, you savored this moment of intimacy, feelings bubbling up on your lips.
“I love you, Baekhyun,” you whispered against his lips.
“I love you too, my sweet wife,” he echoed. Snaking a hand down to your middle, he stroked your stomach with reverence. “And, of course, my sweet baby, too.”

A Thousand Lives Lived

In the beginning, there was nothing. From the nothing grew the roots of the Tree of Life- and the Tree of Life itself from that. Its roots stretched and wrapped around itself to create the EXO Planet. From there, life was born.
For peace, balance and protection, the Tree of Life produced eleven forces--eleven Legends. Each one created from a single drop of sap, each Legend was given an elemental or cardinal power to aid in the protection of Tree of Life.
To help and aid the protection of EXO Planet, the Legends created the Elyxion. Hand-picked by the Legends themselves, the Elyxion’s sole purpose was to record and guide the people of EXO Planet-- to keep them on the path of peace and balance. For many years, life lived in bliss.
From the depths of the darkness of the nothing came the red force. Sweltering with hate and festering with greed, the Red Force created the Evil. Plundering the EXO Planet, turning lush fields into dry and barren wastelands, pitting brother against brother, the Evil Red Force made its way towards the Tree of Life.
To protect the Tree of Life, the Legends divided the heart of the Tree in half. Time was overturned and space turned askew. The Legends left the care of EXO Planet in the hands of the Elyxion, before fleeing with the two halves. The eleven Legends split into two and traveled apart to two worlds that seemed alike.
Before the Legends left EXO Planet, they left the Elyxion with this: The two halves of the Tree of Life are equal and opposite to each other. One cannot exist without the other, for their hearts beat in unison. They keep balance in this world and the next. It is only when the End of the End is nigh that the Tree may be reunited and reborn into one perfect root.
With the Legends and the Tree of Life far from EXO Planet, the Evil Red Force left to pursue. To uphold their ancient oath, they attempted to cleanse the influence of the Evil Red Force from the people of EXO Planet, but the damage was immeasurable. To keep the future of the Elyxion safe and free from the negative influence, they kept to their own bloodlines and created the Exoluxion, severing all ties with the outside world.
Many years passed, and the Elyxion stood strong. They taught and cherished two ideals: strength and intelligence. Young Elyxions were taught hand-to-hand combat, strategic planning, weapon manufacturing, and advanced medical knowledge and practice. The Elyxion lived in peace and balance, as long as they remained in the Exoluxion, safe from the Evil Red Force.

//OK! SO! I'm doing a lot better and am coming off Hiatus to Semi-hiatus and will be putting asks and threads in the queue. I'm in a much better head space and have been absolutely buzzing on ideas inspired by this season's content.
//Namely extensions of Echo's Hive!AU in which she tries to talk terms with Savathun and ends up as one of her Oubliette experiments instead.
1. Weapon of Sorrow
//The first is "Weapon of Sorrow" au in which Echo is discovered/revealed after being defeated by a trio of guardians and is brought back for examination. It runs on the idea that Hive Magic is meant for infecting and transforming living biological beings, not inorganic life forms like Exos and Ghosts. Yet it still affects inorganic materials, as seen in the Weapons of Sorrow. //This also runs on my HC that all Exos have Alkahest running in their bodies, maintaining their minds and humanity while also adding a biological component to their beings, albeit minimally. //Thus, when Echo is retrieved and her chitin (courtesy of @bandit-prince's hive OC, Taûryx) is removed, her main body is revealed to have been heavily modified by the terraforming ability of the hivified Alkahest (modified/refined radiolaria, IE the exo's blood/only biological component). Where once was the sleek, human-like model of Clovis Bray's exo design, now lay something looking like it was made of knives and bone, much like the Necrochasm and Osteo Striga. //Naturally, Echo's ghost, Whisper, beseeches the Vanguard for help in bringing Echo back as a guardian and cleansing her of the Hive magic Savathun and Taûryx used on her. With some help, they are eventually successful in cleansing and restoring Echo, yet she still feels some effects of being an exo acolyte. This AU actually extends to another AU, a "Bad Timeline" au that combines "Weapon of Sorrow" and "Ties of Binding" which will be detailed in a section below.
2. Bad Timeline AU
//In this second au, "Bad Timeline" mixes the WoS and TtB verses with one of the Bad Timelines where the Exo Stranger came from. In it, Echo becomes her "Weapon of Sorrow" self by design, submitting herself to Hive!Eris Morn as a way to get close to her and Savathun. She does this in order to find the Hive God ritual and use it herself. In this, she would try to become a rival to Eris in the pantheon of hive gods and give the remaining guardians not completely lost to the darkness, a chance at retaking their world with or without the Traveler. //This would be tricky though, since she'd know that she'd need a Worm in the pantheon to do this. So she gets the only one she could find on hand: the one inside the YW's gun. Using different magics, including the Essence Transfer magic utilized in the Scarlet Keep, Echo speak with Xol, contending with him that he was the weakest of his pantheon because he didn't live up to his name. Because up to that point, he hadn't been the Will of thousands, only the will of one. But if he made a deal with her, she would make him the will of thousands, and his tithe would be greater than had ever been for him. //So through this, she becomes Ehkos Ahnan, Hive diety of Ties and Binding, taking strength from bonds between her brood (the guardians who accept her offer). Her first act of binding was binding Xol to his physical form, remaking him and gaining strength from the bonds of love, hate, rivalry, etc. made with and extended to her by other sentient beings. To other's surprise though, she had not relinquished the Light, only hidden it until the time to reveal it came. //Now the Deep and Sky battle within her as she runs against the clock, seeking to become the one Blade willing to carve its place in the universe and allow to shelter beneath her in exchange for obedience to her terms and tithes of Light and violence in defense of their new kingdom.
//We are the ever-grasping hands. Those who accept us are bound to us by our Mercy. We are the ever-shaping truth! Those who reject us are cut down by our blades and bonds! For Mercy can only be given by those Strong enough to carve it from the hands of their enemies! And those whom you gain and bring to me by Mercy are yours by right of Submission. Through this bond, they must tithe and prove themselves worthy of your efforts, your protection, and their place in the world. As well, you must prove yourself worthy to keep them! Carve their place into the chasm that is your domain, claim, and grow! Prove yourselves worthy to be called mine! Aiat!"
3. Ties that Bind
//The second AU is set after her Hive verse in which she isn't made into a Weapon of Sorrow but is still discovered and recovered from being an Acolyte. After providing all the information she has and being aided by Eris in her recovery (specifically during and after Season of the Haunted), Echo goes on as usual during the rest of the year. //However, in hearing the call to aid to help Eris with Immaru, Echo defies strong recommendations of her leaving the situation alone and goes to aid Eris. Ikora has strong reservations about letting Echo continue to aid Eris, but Echo insists that with her experience the previous year in the Hive, she would be the best suited to help Eris in her current endeavors. Ikora's fears prove founded as Echo begins to slip into her old Acolyte patterns as she fights and tithes to Eris. //However, despite their efforts and how fruitful they've been, Echo's discovery of Ahsa's involvement puts a huge damper on her efforts. She knows the corrosive power of hive magic and fears they can't last much longer without hurting, or worse, killing Eris and Ahsa. Thus she begins to prepare a secondary plan, which in reality is a terrible idea but what else can she do when good ideas don’t show themselves? //So she contacts an "old friend", and whether by bonding with him as a Darkness Risen ( @aurea-fide) or raising his essence from the weapon of his own destruction, she calls on the weakest of worms with an assertion that he was weak because he hasn't lived up to his name, and a promise that if he abides this new contract with her, he will become that which he claimed to be: the will of thousands instead of the will of one. //In this line of action, she intends to pick up where Eris left off and join the hive pantheon -- not as villain or antagonist to humanity, but as a paracausal advocate and contender against greater powers. //"If the Traveler is the Gardener then I am its guard, for I know by right, all who are born in this universe have a place in it. If this is a garden, then I will tend it and carve a place for all things in this universe.”
Addendum to Ties that Bind is that it would be a precautionary plan. One that is likely discovered and not acted upon since Eris seems to have things well in hand. Seasonally, this is Eris’s journey and our goth girl deserves some good things. UuU
Echo: “and this is why Eris is doing this. Because she won’t fall to the temptation of the Deep like I would. She’s the Stronger Truth, a true light in the blanketing dark. A friend, a protector, a guardian. aiat.”

Can you tell me about your latest idea 👀
Oh, you bet your fucking ass I can.
So, I've been listening to EXO recently and while I was driving, I was thinking about their songs "Monster" and "Lucky One". (I'm not sure which one came first, I'm pretty sure it's Monster but anyways).
So, in the MV in Monster, EXO is basically like...rioting/fighting the system, only to get arrested. And then I think they get taken to a hospital, which we see in "Lucky One". There, they basically break out of the hospital using their powers (EXO's whole concept was original 12 member (now 9) from EXO planet who had different powers: flight, teleportation/shadow travel, lighting, freeze time, telekinesis, fire, water, healing, lighting, ice, and wind) (I do know which member is/was which power, but that's a whole nother ask).
So, my thought was...Jiang Yuelou could be like an "unusual talent" or someone who has supernatural powers who has been labeled a "monster" by the government and like...during a riot or a raid or something, is captured and taken to a hospital where he meets Chen Yuzhi, who is one of the doctors in the program to basically..."strip" the "unusual talents"/"monsters" of their powers. However, Chen Yuzhi is really kind and too nice and starts to realize that uh...hey...this program isn't "stripping" them of their powers and sending them back into society as a normal human...it's killing them.
And then he and Jiang Yuelou meet, Chen Yuzhi slowly gets to realize that the "unusual talents"/"monsters" aren't really "monsters", they're just people with powers. They're not any different from him. And he feels horrible that he's a part of the program and asks Jiang Yuelou to help him free the others, because it's the right thing to do. He and Jiang Yuelou then sort of...stage a "jail break" if you will and help everyone in the program escape and then he and Jiang Yuelou run off together.
(This would probably be a oneshot, not a multi-chaptered fic)
It's very dystopian, sort of Devil Judge, a little bit like my other dystopian au The Revolution, but that's kind of the vibes both MVs were giving. I'll link both MVs so you can kind of understand my thought process

But thank you for asking!
