What do you get when you mix your at the time favorite book, favorite musical, and a fandom you got back into with mermaids? For me, this au lol.

I was reading Song of Achilles and thought Myrmidons was close to Mermaids. Then I added DCA as Patroclus and Achilles cause why not lol.

Might be hard to see but the lyrics are "You're too sweet for me. You're too sweet for me" from my at the moment song I was obsessed with Too Sweet by Hozier.

At some point just added Epic too cause, Epic was the reason I got into greek myth which led to reading Song of Achilles.

For this au, the gods are sirens with the main 13 being huge with special siren abilities. Example, Hermes' voice is like sonar and can be carried across oceans.

Other gods/sirens are only slightly taller than mermaids and have a stronger and sweet voice. Since Achilles is half siren, his voice is considered beautiful whether talking or speaking and his voice does carry farther than the average mermaid. (In legend, it is said when Patroclus died, all oceans could hear Achilles' cries and screams, his siren voice full with grief and no longer sweet, but harsh and cold.)

Haven't worked on the au in a while and there might be changes if I continue to work on it lol.

(Also, was because of Song of Achilles I learned Neo was the son of Achilles from the line "Neo, avenge your father, kill the brothers of Hector")

More or less yes kind of lmao

Tldr; hyper advanced AI came to the conclusion 2/3's of people are bad. Meaning they serve no purpose and can be culled

Diego is activated fully for 2 weeks. In those 2 weeks, he's away from Dawn a lot. Dawn was his only human contact, a fact she had tried to fight against for this very reason. Now he's in contact with two greasy men almost full time, and he hates them. They treat him like they do the other animatronics. While the others are sentient, they cannot grow and change in the way Diego can. Freddy will always be Freddy. Diego is not Security Monty. Diego grew from SM and made his own person. Not that the higher ups know though. Though he's far more logic driven due to his AI nature

So as he learns from these men, he comes to conclusion, "well I know three people, only one is good to me. That tells me only one third of people will be worth my time." which starts his mental list of what's worth while in a person. And what's not. Dawn takes note and tries to plead for the higher ups to shackle SM. They will not. If he's shackled, he's unable to make proper judgment calls. They need him to make split second judgment calls on people and recognize the mimic

Then the guys he's with stupidly take some swings at him. Throwing shit at him and generally just being assholes. Nothing terrible, but to someone sheltered like Diego...He has no real training for this. So he reacts in the only thing he does have real training for. Violence. Deactivating his safety protocols because he's able to just. Overwrite his own code.

In that moment he comes to the conclusion "Two thirds of people are not worth having around. I am doing a favor to the world." He does not see issue with killing "bad" people. Because he defines what fills in for bad

He tries to go to Dawn to show his learning. He's so ready to make her proud. And well. There's a reason when he's reactivated, he has a thing against his face being touched, hates screwdrivers anywhere near his head. And Dawn why has a robotic hand.

Final part of Scarab dealing with Bug World Finn and Jake with Liam finally back in the mix! (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3) HC that once Scarab cares about something that he really does put them among his top priorities. Sorta correlated to how he treats his job and views how other cosmic beings should treat their own work. Also a little jab at how his supervisors treat him- hence his surprised reaction to how Liam wasn't upset at his "failure". Speaking of Liam, at this point they know very well that he can be very intense, sharp and prickly to certain people (especially other cosmic beings). But if you get on his good side he can be a big softie. (And also that if he's not focusing enough/very flustered, his mask reveals his face without him intending to move it sometimes) They're also 100% shameless at saying "I love you" to Scarab anywhere, anytime.
