Lacie Redfox
Tumblr media
Lacie is the daughter of Gajeel Redfox & Levy McGarden. From a very young age she realized her main goal in life is to be as strong as possible so that she can help as many people as she can, just like her dad, mom, and all her aunts and uncles of the Fairy Tail Guild before her. Watching her dad fight always sent chills up her spine and locked her in amazement. Never in fear, always in admiration. With the brains passed down to her from her mom, she began researching Dragon Slayer Magic at a very young age.
One bright sunny day at the age of 12, she scared the absolute shit out of her parents and their surrounding guild-mates. She and her Uncle Natsu were playing pretend you see. She was a fierce and mighty dragon slayer about to let out a great big Iron Dragon Roar at the terrifying fire dragon, ie Natsu. As she inhaled as much air as she could in preparation for her attack, everyone was expecting a small gust of breath but what came out was much more. Albeit small, a poof of actual Iron Dragon Roar escaped her lips.
Everyone looked around at each other stunned but the little girl giggled and ran to her daddy, “Did you see that?!” She screamed in excitement, “I’m gonna be just like you one day, Daddy!” This very statement shook and terrified her parents to their very cores. They were not aware of the child’s research and had no idea that the girl spoke truth in that moment.
It took much convincing to get her parents to let her craft and hone her skills once they realized what she was up to. It’s not that they wanted to hold her back or keep her from helping others. They had both seen first hand what trouble being a Dragon Slayer can bring. However, after finally expressing her intense thoughts behind her actions, goals to achieve, and admiration of the bonafide Dragon Slayers they were finally convinced that there was no stopping her and they would just have to train her the very best they could.
First, they aided in her studies. Gajeel provided as much advice and tips as he could from his own experiences. Levy helped her with thoroughly researching everything they could about the origins of Dragon Slayer magic, the current cast of Dragon Slayers, and everything in between. Then, it was time for the hands on work. Gajeel expressed to Lacie time and time again that being a Dragon Slayer is not easy but she was determined and ready to begin her training.
They started from the ground up, with the basics. The two of them, along with PantherLily, helped her get into the best physical shape she could be in so that her body could withstand the intense training she was about to undergo. When it was time, Gajeel began teaching her everything he could about his magic. It was slow going at first as she only could ever muster small puffs of Iron Dragon Roar. Lacie was beginning to get discouraged, that is until she watched her dad spare with Lily and her fire was reignited.
“Now I’ve got a fire in my belly,” the now 16 year old exclaimed as her Uncle Natsu has many times before, “I’m NOT giving up. I WILL do this!” She took in a deep breath and there in the presence of Gajeel, Lily, and Levy, who was on the sidelines watching, Lacie put forth such a strong Iron Dragon Roar that it was just barely enough to knock the wind out of Gajeel.
They all cheered as she smiled big and wide with tears of joy pouring from her eyes. Her dad wrapped her up in a tight hug, kissed the top of her head, and stated, “I’m so scared of what this could mean. You mean the world to me, Lacie. That being said, I know you have the best intentions in your heart, I know you’re strong, and I know you can do this. I am so proud of you.”
“As am I, young one,” Lily agreed.
Levy joined the hug followed by Lily. The mother whispered in her daughter’s ear, “We love you so much. I am so very proud of the hard work you’ve put in.”
Lacie felt tears fall on her shoulder and quickly moved to wipe them away, “Thank you. All of you, thank you so much for believing in me and supporting me.” The group rejoined their hug before continuing training.
Several years down the line, Lacie found herself amidst a raging battle that once again threatened to throw the world into turmoil. She had lost track of her parents a while ago and now stood facing the biggest and strongest opponent she had ever faced, a demon from the book of Zeref, but the young woman was not frightened. She was strengthened as she thought of all her guild-mates fighting along side on that battle field. She thought of her mom, dad, and Lily who had all helped her hone her skills as an Iron Dragon Slayer. Little did they know back then that was only the foundation on which she built her arsenal. She thought of Natsu, Wendy, Laxus, Sting, Rogue, and even Cobra. They had all shared advice often and showed her new tricks to shove up her sleeve. She thought of the rest of her guild and how they always expressed how proud they were of their Little Dragon.
Back when it finally sank in that this young woman was on a path toward and determined to become just as strong as those who’s footsteps she followed, they had dubbed her the name, Little Dragon. When it came time for her first shot at the S-Class trials, Her Aunt Ezra had spoken with her before they departed for Tenrou, “What shall the people call you if you make S-Class, Lacie?”
“What do you mean?” Lacie inquired.
“For instance, they call me Titania. They call Mira The She Demon. What shall you be called?” Ezra mused.
Lacie thought for a moment but it didn’t take much to decide, “Little Dragon.”
Erza smiled and let out a small laugh, “Sounds fitting… Well Little Dragon, go become the S-Class Wizard that we all know you can be.”
Returning her thoughts to the battle at hand, Lacie looked up with a determined look as always and grinned, “You messed with the wrong woman, buddy. You’re messing with The Little Dragon and I ain’t gonna back down!” She charged head long into the fray.
This was the day that Lacie made history. She threw out every Dragon Slayer technique that she had mastered. She singed her foe’s skin with a Fire Dragon Roar, clubbed them over the head with an Iron Fist, yanked a bolt of lightning right from the sky, listened to every move of their muscles to determine when to dodge, used the shadows to her advantage to become immensely more mobile, and blinded them with a white light to distract them and land the final, fatal blow to the demon’s life, an Iron Dragon Roar so powerful that it shook the very ground she stood on.
The demon now down for the count, the citizens came out from hiding cautiously until they spotted The Little Dragon healing their neighbors with the demon’s corpse laying only yards away. Her fellow Dragon Slayers and the rest of their guild members arrived panicked and worried only to find the young woman had everything under control. Once the wounded had be tended to, with the help of other healing wizards and Lacie’s Aunt Wendy, the Fairy Tail guild rushed to join the cheers and celebration amongst the citizens of the city.
This was the day that the world realized young Lacie is a fierce warrior like her father and has all the brains of her stunning mother. Little Miss Redfox had become The Little Dragon and made history as the first wizard to ever master multiple elements of Dragon Slaying magic from scratch without the help of a dragon or the boost of a lacrima. She is, without a doubt, a force to be reckoned with.

A Job for Dragon Slayers
It was a strange request and Sting couldn’t figure out if he should put it on the board or not. In the end, he decided he would take the job and bring (drag) Rogue with him. Sting called out to Rogue as he ran to where his companion sat. Shoving the paper in Rogue’s face Sting explained how they were going to go on the job together and how it was going to be awesome. Rogue took a look at the request to get some information but found that there was very little.
“Sting, I don't know if this is such a good idea. Maybe we shouldn’t do this, or at least get someone else’s opinion.” Rogue said thinking that Sting would go to Yukino or Minerva to get their opinion on the job, but no he decided to go all the way to Magnolia to ask Natsu. Rogue got the two exceeds and followed Sting in hopes of stopping the idiot. Upon arriving at the Fairy Tail guild hall the Sabertooth members were greeted by Natsu and Gajeel fighting while Wendy tried to stop them.
“This is perfect, you two want to come on this job with us?” Sting asked, gaining the attention of the other three dragon slayers. “I guess Wendy can come too if she wants.”
“Heh, it’s like a job for dragon slayers. Laxus you want to come,” Wendy said.
“Not interested”
Rogue stared in disbelief as the others started making a plan. He had just wanted to take a few simple jobs in the town and relax for the rest of the day but now he had to go on a job with three idiots and a child.
As expected the train ride was miserable for all of them and if it weren’t for Panterlily they might have never gotten off. As the team walked through the small village they noticed that most of the buildings looked abandoned and only a few people were there.
“I’m starting to regret this,” Wendy said as she tightened her hold on Carla. “It’s a little creepy here.” The others agreed with her, though not out loud as to protect their pride. After meeting with the person that sent out the request and learning that they had to find and fight a monster the team started their search, the first place being the church.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” Carla said right before the ground collapsed leaving the dragon slayers and exceeds in what looked like an old graveyard.
“Hey Sting, you don’t think that the monster is actually a bunch of ghosts hunting this place do you?” Lector asked, holding onto Frosch’s hand so that they didn’t wander off and get lost. Without another word, Sting ran further into the cave/graveyard with Natsu following shortly after. The others, not sure what to do anymore, followed the two hoping to find a way out that didn’t involve flying past a bunch of broken wood.
As they walked through the graveyard it started to get more and more creepy and Wendy was certain she had seen and heard a few ghosts. Carla had told her it was just her imagination but if she was being honest she had the same worries. Things seemed to be relatively fine, and then Natsu had to go and touch one of the many offerings and everything turned to chaos. Things started flying all around, the cave started shaking, and everyone was screaming.
Gajeel picked up Wendy and Carla and begin running back to the hole with Lily flying behind him. It didn’t take long for the others to do the same and without another thought, they flew out of the cave and left the village not caring that they didn’t finish the job.

Synched Calendars
Fandom: Fairy Tail
Ship: Natsu x Lucy
Tags: Fluff, One Shot, Modern AU, Best Friends
Summary: The dangers of sharing a calendar with a man with no boundaries are varied.
Notes: Fluffy little one-shot to cleanse the palate during think Kinktober.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Natsu’s ears twitched at the sound of Lucy’s gentle giggle. He glanced back from his spot in line, frowning slightly when he saw a green-haired stranger leaning against the wall, flirting with his best friend. Worse, Lucy was covering her mouth with her fingertips, stifling the genuine laughter the man was drawing from her. It was a habit she fell into whenever she was trying to be cute.
He pushed the jealousy from his mind and focused on his task. Stepping up to the counter, he ordered the snacks Erza had sent him to fetch, then stepped out of line to wait some more. Lucy’s giggle floated across the room to him again. His brow furrowed as he watched the two of them trade phones. “Aw, what the hell,” he grumbled.
Unbidden, Gray’s most recent advice floated to the front of his brain. “You gotta speak up man. Lucy’s too smart to wait for you forever, and sooner or later, someone will snatch her out from under your nose.” Natsu crossed his arms, his frown deepening.
“Sir? Your order is ready.” Natsu shook himself out of his thoughts and looked up, grunting his thanks to the clerk. She gave him a wary smile before turning back to her work. Natsu rejoined his friends, pushing his irritation aside. The stranger was gone, and he refused to let his existence ruin a movie night with his friends.

“I don’t know, I thought it was pretty scary,” Lucy argued, still keeping her arms wrapped around herself where they’d been since the first jump scare of the movie.
Natsu rolled his eyes. “Yeah, but you get scared when your curtains blow too hard.” Lucy smacked him, laughing.
“Oh, hang on, sorry,” she mumbled when her phone dinged. She turned away from the group, leaving them to argue over the predictability of the outcome. Natsu watched her smile slightly and type something into her phone before she returned to the conversation.
“Everything okay?” he asked when she returned to his side. She nodded quickly, waving him off. His own phone dinged with a calendar alert, and he dug it out, glancing at it.
                Synched Calendar Update!
Saturday, 4 P.M.
            Date with Noah.
He frowned, swiping his phone open and punching the calendar app. The event was colored soft pink, marking it as one of Lucy’s events.
“Natsu? Come on, we are heading outside,” Erza called.
“Huh? Yeah, I’ll be right there. I just need to run to the bathroom,” he called, shoving his phone into his pocket. He watched the group move on, shooting Lucy a grin when she glanced back at him before following Gray out into the parking lot. Scanning the room, he found the green-haired head easily and made his way over.

Natsu rejoined the group, grinning brightly. “Hey, sorry. Line was longer than I expected,” he offered, stepping up beside Lucy. “So does anyone else want to go get something to eat?”
Lucy wrinkled her nose at him. “You literally ate two extra-large popcorn and three boxes of Hot Tamales!”
“So?” He didn’t see her point. She made an annoyed sound in the back of her throat. Her phone rang suddenly, pulling her away from the group again. He tried to listen to her conversation, but Gray grabbed him in a headlock, digging his knuckles into his scalp.
“Really? No, I didn’t mean to keep a secret…it just….I wasn’t sure myself. Well, thanks Noah….yeah.” Lucy hung up with a sigh, then turned and glared at the puff of dust that had become Natsu and Gray.
“Natsu! Can I talk to you?” His scruffy pink head popped up and he shoved Gray away, jogging over to her.
“What’s up?” he said innocently. Lucy grabbed him by the elbow and dragged him around the corner to the relative privacy of an alleyway.
“Natsu, did you just tell Noah that we are dating and cancel my date?”
“Yeah, why?” He crossed his arms and cocked his head. Lucy’s eyes flashed angrily.
“Why would you do that?!”
“What do you mean? Because you shouldn’t go out with other people when you’re already mine, obviously,” he said matter-of-factly. Lucy growled, pushing him.
“When exactly did we start dating?! I don’t remember ever saying I wanted to be with you!”
Natsu smirked at her and stepped closer. “Don’t you though? Cause I want to be with you,” he said quietly. Lucy took a step back, finding her back against the wall. He cupped her cheek gently and leaned down slowly. Lucy’s breathing hitched and she trembled.
“N-Natsu….don’t,” she whispered, covering his lips with her fingers gently. “I…I need time to think, okay?” He stepped away, swallowing his disappointment, and nodded once.
“Sure…yeah, I get it. Sorry. Find me later if you need to talk I guess,” he said softly, then left her alone, returning to the group. Lucy watched Gray elbow him and asked something, which Natsu shrugged off.
Of course she wanted to be with him. She had for as long as she could remember, but the idiot never seemed to notice her. Her hesitation was based solely on the fact that he had gone out of his way to cancel a date without talking to her about it at all.
Turning her options over in her mind, Lucy unlocked her phone and looked down at the calendar. She could call Noah back and explain the situation, going on the date with him solely to punish Natsu….or she could be with the man she’d wanted for years. Sighing, she swiped on the event to edit it.
Across the lot, Natsu dug his phone out once again, opening the notification.
Synched Calendar Update!
Saturday, 4 P.M.
            Date with Natsu.
Lucy’s delicate fingers slipped between his own as he read the update. He glanced over at her and smiled, leaning down to kiss her golden head. “Thanks…for giving me a chance.”

Do not steal or repost any of my works!!
WHY I LOVE YOU- Gray Fullbuster x reader
Tumblr media
Terrified.
The only way to describe how you are feeling right now is terrified.
You never thought you would be bested by the likes of a creature such as this but if this is your fate you will take it. You lived a fulfilling life as one of fairy Tail’s top mages and one of the few s-class wizards that are in the Fairy Tail. You have made amazing friends that double as your family all thanks to that very same guild. That same guild also brought you your best friend and boyfriend. The man who gave your life meaning. Guilt flooded your system knowing that you would be leaving him all by his lonesome. You only hoped that the rest of your former team would take care of him while you were gone.
“Gray” you mumble, tears filling your lash line. “I’m so sorry to be leaving you like this.” Gray meant so much to you. He was your first ever friend, the one who introduced you to team Natsu and most importantly? He is the one who showed you what true love really feels like. How you wish you could tell him goodbye. But maybe this is a good thing, you don’t want him to see you like this.
“Babe?” you gasped. You whipped your head around to the direction the voice came from.
“Gray?” you questioned. “What are you doing here? I thought you had to go to the store?” you bite your lip trying to hold back the tears. As much as you wanted to see him in your last living moments you didn’t want him to see you like this.
Gray’s body tensed. “Babe are you- are you crying?” he moved towards you reaching his arms out to pull you in a hug.
“No!” you shouted. Gray retracted his arms, obviously confused by the look on his face.  “You shouldn’t see me like this” you sniffled. This made Gray even more confused.
“What are you talking about y/n? I’ve seen you cry before.” Gray had no clue what you were talking about. He had seen you cry plenty of times so why were you making a big fuss right now?
You bit down on your lip harder trying not to let your tears spill but it was to no avail. It was bad enough before knowing that he would have to find you in your shared home dead but now he would have to witness your demise. This was terrible.
The tears started rolling down your face and you sniffled again. “Like this Gray! You shouldn’t have to see me like this in my final moments. I don’t want you to remember me like this. I want you to remember me as my happy self. Not all teary and snotty.” This statement not only confused Gray even more but it also made him annoyed. What did you mean your final moments? What the hell were you talking about?
“Y/n what the hell are you talking about? What do you mean by your final moments?”
“Just leave me alone Gray! I don’t want you to remember me this way!” “What the hell are you talking about y/n? What do you mean remember you this way, why do you keep talking like you’re about to die?”
“Because I am Gray! I’m about to be killed and I don’t want you to see this creature brutally obliterate me!” Gray opens his mouth to further question you but stops as the familiarity of the situation hits him. He sighs and moves towards you. Didn't you guys just go through this last week.
“No Gray please don’t come any closer or it will kill you too!” You yell, but he doesn’t listen to you and keeps heading in your direction. Just as you were about to yell at him to get away from you again he walks past you and grabs a tissue.
He comes back to where you're standing and in front of the dining room table and sweeps up the creature in front of you. You gasp. “Is this the creature you’re claiming is about to kill you?” you nod and look away from the thing quickly, trying to avoid eye contact with the terrifying monster at all costs.
“Y/n look” you shake your head.
“Put it down Gray or else it’s gonna kill you too!” Gray deadpans.
“Babe if it was gonna kill me it wouldn’t have let me pick it up” he sighs out.
“That’s because it’s gonna sneak attack you Gray! It wants to trick you and make you believe it’s harmless so it can kill you without you struggling!” he rolls his eyes at your overdramatic behavior. Why exactly does he love you?
“Y/n…” he sighs “It’s a spider.” You gasp. He says it like it’s some harmless bug. As if there aren’t spiders out there that can't poison you in a single bite. He says it so casually like spiders can’t crawl into your ears and lay eggs. As if spiders can’t-
“Y/n” Gray calls out your name to draw your attention over to him. “Watch me”. Hesitantly you look over to him. He opens the dining room window and slowly sets the spider on the ledge then removes the tissue from on top of it revealing the small but deadly creature.
You screech watching the creature that was about the size of a quarter scurry around the window sill. “What the hell are you doing Gray!” you jump back as the monster starts to make it’s way back inside. “Gray it’s trying to come back in just kill the damn thing” You shout, getting into a fighting position. If Gray won’t kill it you will.
Gray scoffs and sets his forearm on the window sill to block the spider from coming back inside. He beckons you over with a ‘come hither’ motion. You take slow cautious steps over to him but once your in arms reach he grabs you and yanks you over to him. You yelp and jump behind him. Before you can yell at him some more he shushes you. “Watch,” he mutters.
You almost gagged at the sight of the spider walking across the window sill. The spider walks from one side of the window to the other a couple more times before crawling it’s way down the wall and crawling off.
“See y/n? It’s all gone. It didn’t wanna kill you. Hell, it didn’t even wanna be in the house in the first place, it just got trapped.” Gray smiles at you and closes the window. Your eyes move between him and the window repeatedly.
“Is it really gone?” you whisper. He hums in approval. Almost as if someone else had taken over your body your mood switched completely. You squealed.
“GRAY MY LOVE YOU SAVED ME FROM THAT MURDEROUS CREATURE EVEN THOUGH IT COULD HAVE KILLED YOU TOO! YOUR SO BRAVE I DON’T KNOW HOW TO REPAY YOU! THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU-” you cut yourself off by jumping on top of him and wrapping your arms and legs around him, gripping him like a koala and not letting him go even as he topples over and falls due to the shock of you jumping on him.
“ACK- WHAT THE HELL Y/N GET OFF ME THAT HURT!”
“NO! NEVER GRAY BAE I NEED TO REPAY YOU!’
“HOW THE HELL ARE YOU REPAYING ME? ALL YOUR DOING IS SMOTHERING ME”
“I’M REPAYING YOU BY SMOTHERING YOU WITH MY LOVE NOW SHUT UP AND DEAL WITH IT” to make your point you shove your head in the crook of his neck then go limp, laying on him with all your body weight. He can practically feel you shattering his ribs and groans.
Why does he love you again?
                                                 ________
All you could think in this moment was how much you hated traveling on any sort of vehicle. You could feel the pit in your stomach tightening and your mouth pooling with saliva. The pit in your stomach moves upwards into your throat and you gag. You grab onto the ledge of the boat and hoist yourself up just enough for your head to hang off the side of the boat so you can empty the contents of your stomach- or well, lack thereof. You’ve thrown up so much that all you can puke up at this point is bile.
You finish your puking with a groan which follows by you collapsing to the ground. Your arms wrap around your stomach and you whimper. “I’m really sorry I can’t do anything to help you y/n” says Wendy with a frown. You shake your head at her and try to offer her a reassuring smile.
You place a weak hand on her shoulder “It’s fine Wendy it’s not your fault that your spell doesn’t work on me anymore.” She looks at you with a frown on her face. She opens her mouth to say something  but you cut her off. “Enough Wendy, really it’s okay, stop apologizing.” Before she could say anything more Natsu gagged in the background which caused a chain reaction because you felt more bile coming up.
You grabbed onto the ledge and started to throw up alongside Natsu. “Natsu, y/n!” Wendy’s voice was laced with worry.
Erza placed a hand on her shoulder. “Their fine Wendy don’t worry about them, they do this all the time.” Lucy hums in agreement with Erza’s statement.
Natsu whined in the background letting out a small plea of “Wendy heal” me or something along the lines of that, it was hard to tell over the noise of him puking. Wendy gasped trying to make her way over to Natsu but Erza held her back. “Cut it out, Natsu!” Lucy yells at him. “Don’t listen to him wendy. Your healing magic doesn’t work on him or y/n anymore.” You nod at Lucy’s statement.
You make your way back to the floor. “You’ve used your healing magic on us so much that it no longer works. It’s not your fault so don’t feel bad. Plus me and Natsu have had motion sickness since we were kids, and we are used to it.” You smile at the girl. She smiles back at you.
“Still, is there anything I can do to help?” You were about to say no but the blistering hot sun reminded you of one thing she could do to help you out.
“Yeah, actually there is,” she nods eagerly. “Could you go get Gray for me?” The girl nods, scurrying off to search the ship for the ice wizard. Lucy looks at you confused.
“What do you need Gray for?” she asks curiously.
“Motion sickness is bad enough but with the sun beating down on me it makes me more sick. Lucky for me my boyfriend is a walking popsicle so he can cool me down." Lucy giggles.
“You guys are so cute” Lucy raves, clapping her hands together. “Maybe the cutest couple in all of Fairy Tail!” she exclaims. Erza hums in thought before nodding her head in agreement.
You open your mouth to thank them but are cut off with a harsh rock of the ship caused by what you could only presume was a big wave crashing against the side of the boat. You barely have enough time to pull yourself over the ledge of the ship before you're throwing up bile again. The wave of nausea had caught you so off guard you didn’t have enough time to adjust your hair. There wasn’t much you could do though, as your hands were occupied with gripping the ships ledge with dear life. Natsu isn’t faring much better either. Luckily though he had Lucy behind him holding his scarf so it doesn’t get soiled.
One hand gathers your hairs up gently into a makeshift ponytail while the other is placed on your back. It was obvious it was Gray. you could tell by the cold hand that could be felt through your shirt. Gray rubs soothing circles on your back trying to keep his nonchalant composure. Having grown up alongside you in the guild he was used to your motion sickness but that never stopped him from getting worried.
Once you finished you groaned and wiped your mouth off. Instead of sliding back down to the floor you turned around to face Gray.
“Gray” you whisper looking into his eyes.
He gave you a small and gentle smile and brushed some of your hair back out of your face. “Yeah?” he asks, meeting your loving gaze. There was a pause between you two as you both just held eye contact.
“Graaaaaaaayyyyyyyy” you whined falling into him “I’m gonna dieeeee.” he only rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around your waist. If this wasn’t how you usually acted when you got motion sickness he probably would have toppled over onto the ground with you throwing all your weight onto him. But alas, this was how you always acted when you were sick. Clingy and overdramatic.
Wendy gasps. “Wait what! You're gonna what y/n?!” Your words made Wendy nervous and caused Gray to groan.
“Would you stop with the dramatics already y/n? You’re scaring Wendy.” He adjusts you so you're both sitting on the floor with back to his chest, his back to the wall of the ship’s ledge. “Ignore her Wendy, she always does this.” Before Wendy could make a rebuttal Erza dragged her away to the other side of the ship.
Gray looks down at you. “How is it that even when you're sick you still manage to be so overdramatic?” You grin and look back at him.
“Because it’s fun, and it annoys you so it makes it even more fun.” His face scrunches up and he glares at you. “Don’t look at me like that Gray, we both know you love me.” you say to him with a cocky grin on your face.
“I’m looking at you like that not just because you annoy me” he starts off, making direct eye contact with you. “It’s because your breath reeks of throw up,” he says, pushing your head away from him. You gasp. If looks could kill gray would be six feet under. Upon noticing your gaze Gray busts out laughing.
You scramble away from him feeling offended but that proved to be a bad idea because it felt like you just got sucker punched in the gut. You groan and lay on the floor and curl into yourself. This makes Gray laugh even harder. He was worried about you but he had to admit your reaction was funny to him. You’ve had motion sickness since you were a child so you should know not to make any speedy movements if you don’t want to upset your stomach.
You whined. “Screw you Gray…you Elsa wannabe.’” he snickers.
“Really babe, Elsa wannabe? That’s the best you can come up with?” You continue to glare at him.
“Keep hating on me Gray” you mumble wriggling around a bit trying to get comfortable, which was hard to do seeing as you were lying on the hard floor of a ship. “You're gonna regret it when I die on this boat due to motion sickness.” He rolls his eyes at your continued dramatics but lets out a little snicker.
‘“Oh no” he says sarcastically “what will I ever do?” He pretends to ponder on the thought for a bit as you gaze at him before shrugging. “Your death will be sad but I'll move on.” You gasp, causing him to let out another laugh. You flip him off and slowly roll over on your side with your back facing towards him.
He continues to laugh as he reaches forward to scoop you into his arms. He pulls you back into his chest. “Y’know I was only joking Babe, I love you more than anything.” He mumbles quietly. Your eyes widen in shock. It wasn’t like Gray to express his love for you out in public for everyone to hear. And he only called you babe in public when you had motion sickness. You reach a hand up behind you and run it through his hair.
“I know baby” you hummed out. “I love you too.”
Gray smiles down at. He rubs his hands up and down your arms soothingly. The cold hands on your body soothes you and allows you to fully rest yourself against him. Your limbs start to go lax and you feel sleep starting to creep up on you.
All the puking must have tired you out, Gray thinks. “Tired?” He asks. You hum allowing your eyes to drift shut. Sleep starts to take over your body which creates a peaceful silence between the both of you. Gray looks down at you, admiring your peaceful face. Hopefully you’ll sleep throughout the entire boat ride till you get to the job site he thinks, at least then you won’t have to feel so sick.
A harsh wave rocks the boat back and forth and causes you to jolt awake and let out a groan. Another large wave hits the boat causing the rocking of the boat to be more intense.
“You okay y/n?” Gray does well to hide the worry in his voice but he can’t fool you. You could read the man like an open.
“No” you replied with a shaky voice. It felt like someone had a death grip on your stomach and was shaking it up and down. “Not one bit.” A small frown was placed on Gray’s face. He moved his hands down and placed them on your stomach hoping to cool down where it hurt the most.
You sighed. The feelings of his hands on your stomach made the sickness in your stomach a little less painful. Just as you start to relax and get comfortable again a third wave crashes into the side of the boat. The relaxed feeling disappears and is replaced by extreme nausea traveling what felt like the speed of light up your throat.
You jump up and turn around. In an attempt to grip the boat’s edge to throw up you somehow elbowed Gray in the face and knocked him over onto his back. While you were busy puking up bile Gray was groaning in pain whilst holding his nose.
The overbearing sting in his nose made Gray wonder; why does he love you?
     ________
Gray should have known better than to trust you to pack food for the job. When he entrusted you with the task to gather food for the upcoming job he wanted you to pack canned foods, cereal and some sandwich making supplies. But no. You didn’t. Of course you didn’t. Gray opened the bag of food expecting to find something to eat after the long boat ride. Between the heat, the constant waves making the boat rock, and your taking care of you and your motion sickness (and having to deal with Natsu being motion sick) he was hungry. So imagine his dismay when instead of finding something filling he instead finds loads of candies and chips.
“Are you serious y/n.” The question was more rhetorical but you answered anyways.
“You're the one that told me to pack food Gray bae.” Your tone was innocent yet condescending and gray wanted to wipe that cocky grin off your face.
Gray runs a hand down his face. You swore you almost saw him pop a blood vessel.
“I should’ve known you would pack junk food instead. What are we supposed to eat now?” you picked up a pack of gummy worms and threw them at him. He rolled his eyes “we can’t eat only junk food while on a job, y/n.”
“Don’t listen to him y/n! I love what you packed, it all looks so yummy!” Happy says, practically coming out of nowhere. Gray jumps in shock.
“Where the hell did you come from, Happy?”
“I’m hungry.”
“Me too” just like Happy, Natsu practically appeared out of thin air. Gray glared at him.
“Then maybe you should have packed your own food flames for brains.”
“What the hell did you just say to me Elsa?!” Natsu and Gray clashed heads.
“You heard me pinky now get out of my tent!”
“I don’t think I will”
“Fight, fight, fight!” chanted Happy, snacking on the bag of gummy worms you had previously thrown at Gray. you snickered.
“If you guys are gonna fight, could you not do it in me and Gray’s tent? I would like somewhere to sleep tonight.”
“Stay out of this y/n, Gray needs to be taught a lesson in respect!”
“The hell did you just say to them?” You groan at their antics. They were seriously gonna drive you up a wall. As funny as their fights could be you would prefer that they didn’t blow up the tent you and your boyfriend are supposed to sleep in.
You walk over and grab Gray’s arm and drag him out of the tent. “Hey! Let me go!”
“Nah i’m good” you say. “As funny as you and Nastu’s fighting is, I would prefer to have a place to sleep at night.”
“Then we would have taken it outside! Now let me settle the score with him!” you roll your eyes.
“Gray we both know you would have fought inside, you both get to caught up in the moment. Also, neither of you will settle the score. Your fights always end in a tie.” Gray wanted to say something but you spoke up before he did. “Plus the town we accepted the job from isn’t too far from our campsite. I wanna do some exploring before we have to get to work!” You say gleefully.
You choose to ignore Gray’s pouting and pull him away from the campsite towards the town.
It was hard for Gray to stay mad at you for interrupting his fight when you looked so cute walking around the town staring at everything in awe. Despite the blazing heat you stayed full of energy, dragging Gray to every stall that caught your eye.
“I’m hungry” you say about an hour into your guy’s little adventure.
“Me too,” he says. “What do you want to eat?” He continues on, taking a look around the area and reading out the names of the food vendors. “Pizza?” he asks.
You shake your head. “Not feeling it.”
“Ramen?’ he asks.
You shake your head no.
“Fried chicken”
You shake your head again.  “It’s too hot out for any of those, I want something cold.”
He arches a brow at you. “What exactly is cold food, y/n?” you shrug.
“Food that’s cold.” he deadpans.
“Yeah no shit.” He looks around. “One of these stands may sell salads, those are cold.” You shake your head for the umpteenth time. His brow twitches. You hum in thought and look around, surveying all the food stands in the area. Your eyes light up.
“I know!” you say.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah!” you grin. “How does pizza sound to you babe?” He growls.
“I offered pizza up the first time!”
“Oh you did?” you asked, heading to the pizza stall. “I must not have been paying attention. Sorry Gray bae.” You smirked. God how you loved to annoy your boyfriend. The man scoffed and rolled his eyes but the grin and small laugh he let out deceived how he truly felt.
After getting your guys’ pizza you continued your adventure around the town as well as continuing your playful bantering. You stopped your walking “Hey Gray.”
“Hm?” he asks, standing right next to you.
“Look” you say with your dominant hand pointing towards the sky.
His eyes widen slightly. “It’s beautiful,” he says, staring in awe. You guys had been walking around for so long now that the sun had started to set. The clouds were thick, puffy and breaking apart to show the sun which had created a beautiful blue to orange ombre with a golden sun right in the middle.
No matter how beautiful the sunset looks it paled in comparison to the way you looked. Especially right now. The sun casted a beautiful yellow and orange hue on your skin. You look absolutely ethereal. Like an angel sent directly to him from heaven. How did he ever get so lucky to have such a stunning partener.
You looked at him and smiled and in that moment he swore he would never see anyone as beautiful as you are.
“I love you Gray.” He smiles at you and is about to pull you in for a kiss before the moment is ruined. Someone walked by and bumped into your shoulder harshly which causes you to stumble.
“Hey what the hell?!” You shout. The person who bumped into you only scoffed at you.
“Maybe you should move out of the way next time instead of just standing in the middle of the path.” You look around you.
“There is plenty of room for you to walk around without bumping into me! You did that deliberately.”
The girl smirks. “So what? Serves you right bitch. Maybe you shouldn’t stand in the way.” Gray’s eyes widen. Did she seriously just call you that?
“What did you just call me?”
“A bitch, are you stupid or something?” Judging by your posture, Gray knew he had to step in.
“You wanna say that again?” Your kind tone and smile betray the actions Gray knows you are about to commit.
“Y/n don’t-”
“No Gray, let the girl repeat what she said.” Your smile and voice seemed so innocent but your eyes betray you. Gray could see the anger flaring up in your eyes.
“Yeah Gray,” the girl snickers, “Stay out of it.” Is she seriously antagonizing him too?
Gray could see it in your eyes. The anger had taken over your eyes. “You did not just say that.” You growl out, taking on a fighting stance. Not just any sort of fighting stance though. It was your dragon slayer punch stance. You were quick, readying up your attack to strike her but Gray was quicker. He grabs you by your waist and throws you over his shoulder like you weigh nothing more than a sack of potatoes.
The girl busts out laughing. “Awe! Your boyfriend has to carry you away, how cute!” She says in a baby voice which only serves to make you more annoyed.
“Are you serious right now Gray?! Put me down right now!”
“Very serious y/n! I know you get worked up and defensive but you can’t hurt the woman! And you definitely can’t use your magic on her. Do you know how much trouble you can get in for using magic on a civilian?”
“Like I care, Gray! Put me down right now! I let you and Natsu fight all the time, Gray this isn’t fair!” you whined and Gray presumes you’re pouting- to which he is right. You are also pouting.
“Actually I think it is fair. You broke our fight up earlier.”
“Whaaat? Noooo. I would never have done that” you say with a sarcastic and sheepish voice. He deadpans, heading towards the direction of the campsite as you continue trying to convince him to put you down and let you go fight the girl. All he does is sigh.
He really wants to know why he still loves you.
        ________
Gray’s body shot up out of bed. His body was sweating and he was heaving. “It was just a dream,” he mumbles. “It was just a dream.” No matter how much he says it his heart won’t stop racing with anxiety. Even as he takes in his surroundings. The clock on the nightstand that reads 2:03, the moonlight peeking in through the curtains, the cushy mattress and soft blankets and your soft breaths, he still can’t seem to calm his racing heart.
He wants to wake you. He so badly wants to wake you up. The only person who knew how to work him out of his panicked state but he just couldn’t bring himself to move past his pride. Not to mention you looked so peaceful.
So instead he got out of bed and dragged himself to the living room. This proved to be a difficult feat as his legs felt like they were made of lead. He sat on the edge of the couch trying to take deep breaths but they weren’t working. If anything were doing the complete opposite. It felt like his heart sped up with every breath. It soon came to the point where Gray felt like he couldn’t breathe at all. His ears were clouded with an incessant ringing that wouldn’t stop and Gray didn’t even notice he was starting to cry until he felt the salty tears roll down onto his lips. Once he noticed he was crying he also noticed he had started to rock himself back and forth. The only thing on his mind right now was that nightmare. That terrible, terrible, nightmare that would not leave his mind. That nightmare where he relives the most traumatic moment of his life. Except it was worse than what it was in real life.
“Ay-, ray- Gray- GRAY” he jumps up. His head whips around to find you staring at him with worry filled eyes. “Baby what's wrong? Why are you crying?” Your voice was soft and you slowly approached him the way you would approach a wounded animal. You place your hands on his shoulders and push him down onto the couch and squat down in front of him. “Speak to me baby what’s wrong.”
He bites his lip to try and stop the tears from coming out but it doesn’t do much. He doesn’t look into your eyes when he speaks. “I can’t- I can’t breathe.” He says. His palms feel sweaty, he can’t breath and his heart is beating so loud he can hear it in his ears and he voices that out to you.
“Okay let’s take some deep breaths alright? Just the way I taught you okay? Breathe in for five, hold it for five, and breathe out for five. Let’s do it together.”
He nods, and do it together you do. You do it five times before he starts to calm down. You do a couple more deep breaths before you decide that Gray will be fine on his own. You usher him back to your shared bedroom with the promise of coming back upstairs with some sleepy time tea and cookies.
While boiling the water and putting the cookies on the plate you're pretty sure you know what caused his panic attack. It was probably the same nightmare as last time. The only thing you want to know is why he chose not to wake you up? Was he scared you wouldn’t care? You only shook your head and waited for the tea to come to a boil before pouring it in the cups and carrying them along with the cookies to your bedroom.
“So” you start while you get comfy on your side of the bed and hand him his cup of tea. “What happened?”
Gray stares down into his cup of tea and blows at it. He doesn't make eye contact when he says “I had that nightmare again.” you nod, your suspicions now confirmed.
“You wanna talk about it?” He nods.
“It was the day Ur died. Every bit of that day was played back in vivid detail. Me running off and her coming after me, her doing the iced shell. And just as she is about to die she looks me in my eyes and starts talking. She tells me that I'm weak. That i’ll never be a good wizard because I can’t defeat Deliora myself and that it’s my fault she is gonna die. That had I never left, had I tried harder none of this would have happened. She says that she regrets ever taking me on and that-” you place a hand on his free hand.
“Take a deep breath. You don’t need to rush. Take a sip of your tea love.” he nods. He takes a deep breath just the way you had him do earlier. He pauses for a minute or so to take a few sips of his tea before he starts back up again.
“Then she says that I need to leave you or else I'm gonna get you killed too and it will be all my fault. She said you’re too good for me and that you don’t deserve to have to deal with someone who killed their own master and that you need to leave me. And then she-” His voice starts to crack so he takes another breath and drinks some more tea.
You could feel your heart breaking with every word that came out of his mouth. “Then she dies. She completes the spell and dies. I know it was just a nightmare and that none of it was true but it all felt so realistic y/n. And it all felt so true. I know it wasn’t but it did.”
“Gray” you set your tea down and hold your arms out “come here.” And he does. In the comfort of your shared room he lays his head in your lap and lets you stroke his hair. “What she said in that dream was just that Gray, a dream. Something your mind made up to scare you Gray. to make you doubt yourself. You didn’t kill Ur, she did it because she loved you. You didn’t kill her, Gray and she would never blame you.” He nods to everything you say and you feel tears wet your thighs.
“She would never call you weak because you’re not. You are one of the strongest wizards I know. And you won’t get me killed Gray. I am a strong and capable mage. So capable I made it to S class. And I am not too good for you Gray. I'm perfect for you and you’re perfect for me. You’re my person Gray and I know I’m yours. I would never leave you and you’re never leaving me, okay?”
He couldn’t help but let out a little chuckle and you smile. You gently wipe his tears away and continue to stroke his hair.
“Hey y/n” Gray mumbles then sits up.
“Hm?”
“I love you.” You smile and cup his face with your hands.
“I know Gray, I love you too.”
“I know you do.” you giggle then move in for a kiss. It was short but sweet. He sat next to you and took a sip from his tea before playing you down and pulling you to his chest. You guys laid like that in a comfortable silence until eventually your breaths evened out. By the look on your face Gray assumed you were sleeping.
He laid there silently admiring your face and thought back on the last couple of days with you. Why did he love you? He constantly asked himself this question but he knew. He always knew why he loved you. Moments like these where you talked him down from what you call a panic attack, where you hold him in your arms while he cries, when you make him tea and bring him cookies then play with his hair.
But that wasn’t just it. He loved your dramatics. He thought it was funny even though he would never admit it. Your fear of spiders made him laugh, even when you jumped on top of him and practically crushed his ribs after he got rid of the spider claiming that it was you paying him back. He would never admit it but he didn’t mind carrying you away from fights. He found it sweet that you're ready to fight for him over something so stupid. He enjoyed how much of a tease you were. Making him list out foods just to say no and name one he already named, how you whined and claimed you were dying when you were really just motion sick.
He enjoyed holding you when you got motion sick. He was happy to help even if it was as simple as placing his cool hands on your sickly body hoping to make you feel less hot. He enjoyed it. He loved it. In truth Gray never needed to be reminded why he loved you because he already knew why. He would always know why and he never needed a reminder but if he one day, for some reason decided he did, all he had to do was look at you. Look at your smile, your eyes, listen to you talk and laugh and crack corny jokes. All he had to do was just be in your presence to be reminded why he loved you.
He knows why he still loves you.
And he will never stop loving you.

chapter 1. a - aquarium
The glass fogged up with the warmth of their breaths as their noses pressed up against the barrier separating them and the fish. There’s a sign not even five feet from them that states in bold letters PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS, but Lucy simply assumed they had either ignored it, or saw it and took it as a challenge to make as much skin-to-glass contact as they possibly could.
"You’re not supposed to touch the glass, you know," she scolded, as if her pointing it out would stop them.
The two of them were getting weird looks, and they were definitely going to get in trouble if they didn’t stop any time soon, but Lucy didn’t have it in her to reprimand them too much because it was honestly kind of endearing.
"If I didn’t know any better, I would say you two had never seen a fish in your lives up until now."
She wasn’t too far off in her observation; the aquarium they’re in is certainly larger than anything Natsu and Happy had seen in their lives. Every tank was filled to the brim with different exotic-looking fish, the likes of which the two had never seen before, and by the looks of things, it seemed as though they were trying to burn the image of every new creature into their brains.
Even though she had lived in Crocus for a year, Lucy had never been to the local aquarium herself. She’d known of its existence, of course; it was a big tourist draw for the city outside of Grand Magic Games season, but she had never felt compelled to visit herself until now. At the time, she thought it might have dredged up memories of her partner that she wasn’t in the right frame of mind to deal with. Going there would have only reminded her how much he and Happy would have adored a place like this.
It seemed that her assumption was correct based on the way the both of them ooh-ed and ahh-ed at each passing fish.
Deciding that her attempts to stop them from trying to become one with the glass were futile, Lucy instead joined their side in hopes of figuring out what all the fuss was about. Admittedly, she understood their fascination. Coral and creatures of every colour practically glowed under the blue lights, flowing through the water with ease. They needn’t worry about anything, perhaps unaware of their enthusiastic observers as they continued to glide along in their inclosure. It was calming, borderline mesmerising to watch.
"This is so cool," Natsu declared, drawing Lucy’s attention away from the water and over to him and his wide grin. "Thanks for bringin’ us here, Lucy."
What had begun as his typical, unrestrained Natsu grin had softened into a gentle, genuine smile, going all the way up to his eyes, where he looked at her with all the adoration in the world.
"Yeah, it’s no problem," she affirmed, trying to keep herself from melting into an ooey, gooey mess right in front of him.
He didn’t give her much time to recuperate before her hand was in his, and he was dragging her over to the next tank that caught his eye in a not-so-romantic reminder that this was technically a date. That reminder was affirmed when they finally made it to the exhibit Natsu had his eyes on, and he still kept her hand held safely in his own, his thumb dragging across the back of her hand in an act of silent affection.
While his gaze was fixed on the new species of fish that filled the overhead tank, Lucy’s eyes trailed down to see where their bodies met, fingers intertwined together.
It wasn’t anything new; they’d been together romantically for several months at this point, and they’d been best friends for even longer. It was a comfortable transition, easing into it so naturally as though fate itself had placed them together.
She liked it like this.
She liked being best friends who went on silly aquarium dates where they held hands in the shark tunnel.
She liked watching his fascination with all the sights and sounds.
She liked him.
A lot.
In a soft moment of adoration, she squeezed his hand.
He squeezed hers back.
Looking back up at him, his eyes were still fixed on the display, watching a stingray glide past overhead. He let out a soft breath of awe, and she, in turn, breathed out a gentle giggle that captured his attention.
"What?" He asked, his attention now on her as he gazed down at her.
"Nothing," Lucy hummed, her lips pursed together to hide her amusement at this softer, cuter side of Natsu.
He wasn’t given the chance to interrogate her further before Happy’s voice called out to them from further in the tunnel, beckoning the pair to his spot.
"Wo-oah! Guys! Come look at this!"
His little paws pressed against the glass, clearly having not learned his lesson from before, as he watched a shark pass him by.
"Look! A real-life shark!" He exclaimed, practically shaking with excitement. "Oooohhh, I’ve never tried shark before, but I bet it’s so yummy~"
Lucy rolled her eyes, unsurprised that this was what had been on his mind the whole time.
"Nah, the skins probably too tough to get through," Natsu dismissed.
"You probably shouldn’t be talking so loud about eating the animals," Lucy added. "Besides, I think a shark is more likely to eat you," she pointed out.
Her words caused Happy to shudder slightly in fear, and Natsu chortled at his reaction, his laughter causing her heart to skip a beat in her chest.
He and Happy continued to chat away about the display of fish, with Natsu’s hand never leaving hers. Lucy held little interest in what they were talking about; their words little more than background noise in her head as she watched on. The blue and green hues of the water surrounding them rippled against the floor, the colour distorted light, defining Natsu’s features as he spoke.
It wasn’t until Happy flew off to follow a particularly tasty-looking fish that Natsu noticed she was staring.
"Are you having fun?" She asked, trying to divert attention from the fact that she had just been caught.
"Are you kiddin’? This is the best date ever," he grinned.
Something akin to pride swelled up in her chest. Perhaps it wasn’t the most romantic of dates, but Natsu was happy, and that was enough for her.
He looked at her for a moment, and almost as if he had read her thoughts, he brought his hand up to cradle her cheek before dipping down to join his lips with her own. It was short and soft but didn’t fail to leave her breathless, just like he always did.
"There, that romantic enough for ya?" He asked, barely making it through the sentence before Lucy’s hands were on his cheeks, pulling him down for another.

Summary: Laxus had quickly written off his college roommate. He didn’t party, didn’t go out, and didn’t do anything but study. All it would take was an unfair professor, a lot of door slamming, and the perfect prank to show Laxus how wrong he could be about a man who slept only six feet away.
Notes: Hey all. Welcome to Fraxus week. Head over to @fuckyeahfraxus to see all the posts. There’s no real theme between my fics this year, but there’s a tone of rebellion. Hope you enjoy.

Six Feet Away
December - 1987
Laxus' tapping of his pen was interrupted when the door was yanked open and slammed shut. He raised an eyebrow, kicked his chair back away from his desk and swivelled around to see the source of the noise. There was only one person it could have been, but the idea of him slamming any door was so ridiculous that…
No. It was him. Freed Justine – preppy, up tight, rule following Freed Justine – had just slammed a door.
He and Laxus looked at each other for a moment. Despite sharing a dorm room for just over three months, they hadn't exactly become friends. Or had a conversation longer than one minute, honestly. They were different people; Laxus was on an athletic scholarship and was working his way onto being the next star quarterback, while attending every party that he could. Freed, on the other hand, was a math student, or something like that; Laxus was pretty sure about that. He'd never asked what Freed was studying, but a guy like that wasn't going to be taking any of the good classes, was he? It was either math or science.
Either way, they weren't close. But there were a few things he knew about Freed he'd gathered through osmosis, and one of them was that he didn't ruffle feathers. At all. For Laxus, it had been a pretty good quality; an unobtrusive roommate was ideal. So to have him slam the door loud enough for the entire building to hear, was not expected.
"You okay-"
"Five professors," Freed snapped, voice holding more emotion than it ever had before. "Five individual professors looked at it and gave it the same grade. There was no conferring, no knowledge of what I was doing, and they all agreed."
Watching as Freed paced around their small room, Laxus spoke with hesitance. "Agreed on what?"
Freed approached Laxus' desk, slammed a small stack of paper on it, then went back to pacing. The papers, Laxus saw after picking them up, were five copies of the same essay. It was an analysis of a Hitchcock film – Freed was a film student? – and at the end of them all lay a good grade and a small summary of thoughts. The grading on each essay was written in different handwriting but seemed to broadly agree on the quality of the work. Laxus looked back to Freed, who was clearly expecting him to join in his outrage.
"I'm gonna need a little context."
"That bastard," Freed spat, gesturing towards the main building of their college. "Every professor in the film department read my work and agreed it was almost perfect. Every one of them concurred. Except for my actual professor, who failed me."
Another, smaller stack of paper was thrown onto his desk. It was the same essay, though obviously handwritten rather than being a product of the xerox machine, and with a very different grade written on the top. Practically every other sentence had feedback scribbled onto it, and none of it was positive. Laxus actually hissed out a breath after reading some of it, and thanked his past self for choosing courses that were entirely fact based rather than up for interpretation. Pre-Med and statistics were boring as hell, but at least he didn't deal with feedback like this.
On the last page, a thought struck him, and he wheeled his chair back so he could get into his desk drawer. It took him a moment to rifle through the files before he found his welcoming packet. Included in it were letters from the board of directors, giving the usual crap about how college is an amazing time, but they need to focus on studying. He pulled out one letter, compared the handwriting, and had his suspicions confirmed.
"You got Jose Porla, huh?"
"Yes," Freed stopped pacing. "Why, is he known for miss marking?"
"Not that exactly, but he plays favourites," Laxus shrugged. "He used to be on the board but got demoted after he was found giving dumbass students scholarships because he liked the families, so they pawned him off on some classes that nobody cared about," He cringed. "No offence. You didn't hear?"
"No. Why wasn't he fired?"
"Gives a lot of money, can't afford to totally piss him off," Laxus shrugged. "He doing it to your whole class, or just you?"
Freed didn't answer the question, but the tenseness of his jaw was enough to jump to an answer. "So, to conclude, my teacher has engaged in a known scandal, but has all but bribed himself into a position of tenure. To add to that, he's decided that I'll be his personal whipping boy for the year, and there's nothing I can do about it?"
Laxus clicked his tongue. "I could give you directions to the gym, so you can burn the energy off?"
Freed actually growled, turned, and stormed out the room. Laxus whistled and went back to looking at his own work.
Two Weeks Later
Laxus had taken a pretty good nap when the door clattered open and nearly slammed into straight his head. He shot upwards on instinct, his covers pooling at the waist as he looked on. Freed, after two unsettling weeks of not mentioning the incident, looked furious again. Even more furious this time if it were possible. A stack of papers was flung at Laxus as he blinked away the sleep, and he looked down and winced at what was scribbled at the top.
'Abject failure.'
"That counts to my final grade of the year," Freed snapped. "He graded it un-markable."
"That's bullshit," Laxus agreed, voice grumbling. "You should do something about it."
"Like what?" Freed huffed and collapsed into his own bed. "I've looked into lodging an official complaint against him, but the consensus of everyone I've spoken with is that it won't change anything, and if he found out about it then he'd only make things worse. There's going to the press, of course, but social pressure can only do so much so quickly, and he can more than destroy by GPA before anyone starts listening."
"Maybe try another kind of pushback."
"Like what?" Freed demanded.
Laxus thought for a moment, then shook his head. "Nothing you'd wanna do."
"Tell me."
"You ain't gonna do it, you ain't the type," Laxus ran a hand through his hair, his tired mind missing the quick glance Freed gave his flexed bicep. "But, maybe go below the belt. He's only doing this shit because he thinks he can get away with it. Just because you can't get him fired doesn't mean you can't get him off your back. If I was on the field and some guy kept giving me trouble for no reason, and was fucking up my game, then I'd punch the bastard. I'd get a penalty, but he'd know not to keep pushing me because it wouldn't end well for him," Laxus shrugged and looked over to Freed. He was met with a raised eyebrow. "What?"
"Field?"
"I'm a footballer," Laxus said slowly, because surely Freed knew. "I'm the quarterback. The guy who-"
"I know football terms, I quite enjoy it actually," Freed countered, and the idea of Freed being a football fan didn't fit with Laxus' image of him at all. The thought of him screaming as part of the crowd seemed impossible. But Freed could show passion when pissed off; maybe when supporting a team, that side of him might come out too. "I just didn't know you were on the team. I assumed it would be more," his eyes glanced around the room. "Obvious."
"You thought I'd have jerseys and flags on every surface?" Laxus grinned.
"That, or the cheerleaders."
"Cheerleaders ain't my thing," Laxus said before thinking. He quickly amended himself. "Not the ones we've got, anyway."
Technically it was true, too. Some colleges had started to allow guys to join the cheer teams, and they always were hot. Freed clearly didn't notice Laxus' shot of panic and his amendment, and instead turned the topic back to Laxus. "I haven't had the time to go to any games."
"Really? You don't do anything."
It was a rude thing to say, and Laxus could see Freed's eyes snap onto him before he could take it back. "There's a reason I prioritise my studies, just as there's a reason why I can't enter into a pissing contest with my professor."
It was probably meant to be mysterious enough to not encourage any further questions. Laxus didn't work like that. "And that reason is?"
As expected, Freed hadn't anticipated any further questions, and perhaps that shock led him to answer. "There are… terms to my enrolment here." Again, Freed seemed to think that this was enough. Laxus kept looking at him until he continued. "My high school had a senior pranking tradition. It was meant to be harmless, but there was one student – Jackal – was cruel beyond excuse. I decided to get some payback on behalf of his victims. Some people thought I took things too hard, and as such my place here is only allowed if I keep my head low and my grades up."
"What did you do to him?" Laxus asked, curious.
"There's a basic chemistry experiment called Elephant's Toothpaste. It creates an expanse foam, you've probably heard of it? I sent a note to him to go to a certain storeroom which wasn't used, and set up a trap so sort," Laxus saw a grin splinter onto Freed's face. "The moment he walked in, a cord was pulled and a version of the Elephant's Toothpaste – a much larger version – exploded. It was harmless, and only made a mess of him, but he didn't take kindly to it. He also didn't like the stink bomb that I threw in after him."
Laxus snorted. That would have sucked, but it wasn't all that bad as pranks went. It also sounded slightly familiar. "Not as bad as it could have been?"
"Well, I think the aftermath is what really set things off," Freed laughed. Had Laxus ever heard him laugh before? "As I said, he was angry. People were laughing at him, which made it worse. He got to the parking lot and must have snapped, because he picked up a stone and started to smash his own car up with it. He looked deranged, actually. He then moved onto the next car, which happened to be the principals."
"Shit."
"Yes, but that's still not the worst of it," Freed smiled. "You see, he really was awful. Everyone hated him, and so I thought it fair that the entire school enjoy his embarrassment. I'm a film student, I have a video camera, so I thought I would record it and make a few copies to hand around school. What I didn't-"
"Holy shit that was you!" Laxus leapt up, grinning and gawping at Freed simultaneously. "That video was on the national news. People said our generation were influenced by satan because of it. It was you!"
"You can see how people think it got out of hand," Freed said, burying his face into his hand.
"Dude, that was badass. You got a load of old fucks pissing their pants on the news. And apparently the guy deserved to look like a dick too." He clasped Freed on the shoulder with a wide grin. "I mean, you've kinda shot yourself in the foot, but if people found out that was you, you'd be a campus legend. Pretty much anyone would defend you."
"Anyone other than the people who could expel me, I suspect," Freed sighed his words, then stood up. "You don't mind if I use the shower, do you? I think I need some time to think?"
"Sure, go ahead."
Freed walked into their shared bathroom, and Laxus watched him go. After a moment, when he heard the water hitting the shower floor, he closed his eyes and thought back to the video that had been on every news station for about a week. The student – Jackal – had looked like a total jackass. The prank was pure brilliance, Laxus had thought that even before he knew about the stink bomb. It was hard to reconcile with the realisation that Freed had been the person behind it.
Just weeks ago, Laxus had written Freed off the personification of a boring middle manager. But, there was something about Freed's eyes when he was talking about the prank. A sort of manic delight at the memory. That was why Laxus believed him; you couldn't fake something like that. He wondered what Freed was like in high school, before the threat of expulsion. Was he a punk? Laxus could kind of imagine it.
He'd look hot in a leather jacket, a stray thought suggested.
That didn't matter, for two reasons. One: Freed wasn't going to show any of his possible punk side so long as he was under Jose's thumb. Two: Laxus wasn't going to risk his position in school by going after a guy. He was an athlete, would be joining a frat next year, and needed college to work for him. Frat boys and athletes don't date men, no matter how manic their eyes looked.
Three Days Later
"I've got an idea," Laxus said as he walked into their dorm room. A large whiteboard and stand clattered behind him as he dragged it into the room and set it up in the small amount of space that was left unused. Freed looked up from his desk, face crunching.
"How quaint, an athlete using his mind," He deadpanned, obviously joking.
"Keep making those jokes and I'm gonna start playing the part of a dumbass jock bully, and then you'll regret it," Laxus grinned and looked over his shoulder. "Unless, o' course, you wanna be hanging from the flagpole by your underwear."
"I've always wondered about the mechanics of that. Surely, they'd tear, and what would you actually hook them onto? Not the rope, surely," Freed mused, and Laxus breathed out a laugh. He and Freed had been talking to each other and the more Laxus listened to him, the more he liked him. Talking with Freed was always surreal. He was a weird guy, but not bad. "Anyway, hardly the point. What do you mean you've had an idea?"
"On how you can get payback on Jose without getting in trouble," Laxus grinned, turning and writing 'Prank Ideas' on the top of the whiteboard.
"How?"
"I'll do it for you."
Freed looked at him as if he were stupid. "Then you'd get in trouble."
"Nah, I'm on a winning streak and, not to brag, but I'm bringing in a lot of fucking money for this school," Laxus ignored Freed's quiet 'Do you know what bragging is?' and turned to face him. "I could take a piss on the chancellor's desk while he sitting at it and he'd thank me. So, I'm pretty much as invulnerable as Jose is right now."
After a second of consideration, Freed shook his head. "I'd be blamed either way."
"No. Because I'm going to 'steal' your camera and record whatever we do to him, and I'm gonna make sure you can hear my voice taunting him so I'm obviously the guy behind it. He'll probably figure it out that it's you, but who would believe him. He'd have to tell everyone why he thinks it's you, and that means he'll have to confess to giving you bullshit marks. If he does that, he's really gonna lose his job." He could see Freed considering, and tried to give him the extra push. "Come on. The fucker deserves it; and I really wanna see what you can do when you're pissed off."
"You act like I'm some sort of… prank aficionado."
"And maybe you are," Laxus smirked, tapping the board with his marker. "We'll only know if you do it."
One Week Later
They both sat in wait outside the side door of the film and music department. They knew that Jose had a class ending in the next few minutes, and that he was the only person who would be using this door. The trap had been laid, the camera was waiting on Freed's tripod, and all they had to do was wait for it.
Although the plan being that Laxus would take the whole blame, Freed had insisted on being there to see the results of his work. Despite claiming he wasn't a regular prankster; Freed had come alive during their plotting sessions. That manic delight in his eyes was burning brightly, and Laxus had more than once found himself lost in them. He'd blamed that on the beer - they'd gotten pizza and beer to help the creative process – and had quickly pushed it to the back of his mind. Also in the back of his mind was the realisation of how nice Freed's laugh could be.
But now, huddled in the darkness right next to Freed, it was hard to ignore any part of him. He'd really come alive over the last few weeks, and Laxus couldn't ignore it. Freed was… mesmerising.
"That's his class," Freed whispered, nodding to a huddle of students walking out from the front of the building. "You ready?"
"Definitely," Laxus grinned conspiratorially as he flicked on the camera.
Their plotting had been successful, and they'd come up with too many good ideas to simply use one of them. After a while, they'd concocted a way of using all the highlights together, giving Jose the treatment he deserved. Any doubt about whether they were doing the right thing flew out the window when Laxus had spoken with a few of his teammates and heard their own stories of what he was like. Apparently, he made problems with any student he deemed an easy target.
The door opened, and Laxus acted instantly. He pushed down on the air horn, the sound splitting the silence. Jose jerked in fear, stumbling forward a few steps just as planned.
With a quick tug on a string, a well positioned bucket that had been on the awning above the door clattered forward. Laxus grinned as it fell directly onto Jose's head, covering it completely. He caught Freed smirking as Jose pulled the bucket off, revealing the neon pink gloop that was now covering his hair and face. Jose was spluttering and obviously furious. Laxus felt the rush already.
After a few moments of Jose flailing, Laxus raised the leaf blower and aimed. Between him and Jose were a large pile of arts and craft feathers, which flew through the air on the wind of the leaf blower. Jose raised his hands and tried in vain to stop the barrage of feathers. It didn't work; and they clung to the pink goo that covered him. Pink goo that he now realised was glue.
"Hey Professor," Laxus yelled cheerfully. "Love the new look. Suits you. Always thought you looked kinda like a chicken!"
"You!" Jose snapped, looking up through the mess. He spotted Laxus, then Freed. "You! I am going to-"
He took a step forward and cut himself off. A Slip and Slide had been set up and covered with water, which was just starting to freeze in the cold air. The Fairy Tail campus was built on a slight hill, and it sent Jose tumbling down the slide without dignity nor a chance to save himself. Freed quickly pulled the camera off the tripod to follow the journey, smirking amazingly as he did. Jose's short slide ended with him landing in a small kid's pool, filled with pond water and ice cubes. He gasped and squawked, and Laxus chuckled. Jose really was a chicken at heart.
Swaggering towards him, they both loomed over the professor. Jose looked at them with hatred, eyes aflame.
"You okay, Prof?" Laxus taunted. "These hills are dangerous for a man of your age."
"You are-"
"Ready men?" Laxus yelled before Jose could say anything that would incriminate Freed. "Aim! Fire!"
From numerous hiding places, every member of Laxus' team shot out, each holding snowballs. They began to pelt their professor with them at a rate nobody could block. They were coming from all angles, melding with the glue and feathers while obviously freezing him to the bone. It could have only lasted a minute, but it seemed to go on forever, and once again Laxus found himself entranced by Freed's expression, even if it was half hidden by his camera.
As the deluge of snowballs ended, Laxus walked forward again, making sure that he was in front of the camera. He leered down at Jose with exaggerated arrogance and delighted at the rage on the man's face. After all he had done, this was what he had coming to him.
"You think maybe this is your own fault?" Laxus taunted. "Maybe you deserve this? Maybe you shouldn't fuck with my team and my friends? That make sense?"
"I am not going to forget this!" Jose growled; the effect dampened by the fact he was a grown man in a kid's pool looking like an idiot.
"Of course you won't. Not when I had this commissioned," He gestured to the nearby building.
Spray painted by one of the art students, who also had a problem with Jose, was a brand-new mural of the man. It was a caricature of Jose covered in pink glue and feathers, sitting pitifully in a pool of dirty water, with a torrent of snowballs flying towards him. He was crying, looking entirely ridiculous, and Freed was making sure the entire piece was caught on camera before panning back to Jose, who spluttered indignantly.
"Happy Christmas Jose," Laxus grinned. "And again, this really is your-"
"What the hell is going on here!" A booming voice cut Laxus off, and flashlights danced over them. Campus security. Fuck.
"Get outta here," He demanded to Freed. "If you get caught you're gonna be kicked out."
"So will you," Freed hissed, the flashlights getting closer.
"I was always gonna be found out, that was the plan."
"There's a difference between confessing after a few weeks have passed and being caught in the act. Jose won't just let this go," Freed snapped, then took Laxus' hand in his own. "Come on."
Laxus didn't have a choice, as Freed pulled him forward with a surprisingly strong grip. Running through a part of the campus he barely knew, Laxus kept his head down so his face couldn't be seen by the security that were chasing them. They took corner after corner, getting further away from the guards each time, and eventually hid in a small alley, where they settled. Freed moved two large trash barrels so that the alley appeared blocked up. He ducked behind them, and Laxus did the same, listening as footsteps ran past them.
After taking a few moments to be sure they were gone, and to catch his breath, Laxus spoke again. "You already knew about this place?"
"I've been on my best behaviour. That doesn't mean I haven't made plans if I decided to have some fun."
"I knew you had a punk side to ya," Laxus grinned as he nudged Freed's shoulder.
"I would have thought that were obvious. Though I suppose you've only seen me dressed like this. I only brought the clothes to look inoffensive; my actual wardrobe would probably shock you."
"You'll have to show me it sometime," Laxus said before he could stop himself.
"If we both survive this without being expelled, maybe I will," Freed shrugged. He leant back against the grimy old barrel without thinking – even that would have seemed impossible of Freed a month ago – and closed his eyes. His face lit up. "I think I needed this. I've been too focused on not making ripples and getting good grades. I needed something cathartic. And God it was cathartic. His face was just amazing."
Freed continued to speak, but Laxus stopped hearing him. Looking at him in this crappy alleyway, his face illuminated by a flickering light a few feet away, Laxus was breathless. Freed was relishing in their victory with a smile that was almost feral, and there was a light in his eyes that Laxus had never seen on another man before. Freed looked alive. Like the life was shining out of him.
He moved before he could think, taking hold of Freed's cheek to turn him. He leant down, tilted his head, and kissed Freed. His chapped lips against Freed's sent a shot of lightning through him, and he felt as though fire was rushing over him. He shifted to get a better position and his knee nudged a dislodged brick, slamming agains the metal barrel they leant against.
Pulling back, his face was red, and panic overthrew delight. "Shit. I'm sorry. I shouldn't-"
Freed took a hold of Laxus' hair, tugged at it, and dragged Laxus into another, heated kiss.
One Month Later
"So," Freed said as Laxus walked back into their dorm room. "How did it go?"
"Not too bad," Laxus shrugged.
He had returned from a meeting with his coach, the school's principal, and campus security. They had spread copies of the tape throughout the campus, and eventually Laxus had been deemed the ringleader. It was decided that he needed to face punishment even despite his success on the team. The meeting had been to decide what would happen.
"I've got to paint over the graffiti on my own every Saturday until there's no trace of it," Laxus shrugged off his jacket. It was leather, spiked on the shoulders. Freed had gotten it him for Christmas. He, in return, had gotten Freed a pair of combat boots and insisted Freed wear them. They looked great on him; Laxus would turn him back into a punk if it killed him. "I've also gotta do a couple talks at a load of schools. It kinda sucks but could be worse. And I have to do a fuck load of interviews to raise the profile of the college, so that's good for you, huh?"
"Why would that be good for me?"
"Because they'll wanna take pictures. And one of them is a men's health magazine," Laxus swaggered forward. He grinned down at him, relishing the smirk on his face. "And I'm pretty sure they're gonna want me shirtless."
"Interesting," Freed stood from his desk and placed both hands on Laxus' waist. "While that's all well and good, and I'll be sure to get that edition, I think I have access to something better than some risqué pictures."
"Really?" Laxus asked in a hoarse voice. "What's that?"
"You. Ready for me, any time I want you," Freed smirked, placed a hand on Laxus' chest and pushed. Laxus fell onto their pushed together beds and watched as Freed climbed on him, grinning down on him. He was never so happy to have misjudged someone.

Pairing: Leo (Loke) X afab!Reader
Synopsis: It's springtime. And what better to enjoy it than to have a date with a lover like Loke.
Word Count: 1,337
Tumblr media
It's springtime, and your boyfriend, Loke, invited you to have some fun outside Magnolia. You kinda hate the guy, since he's a flirtatious playboy, after all. You also got into trouble because of him, because of his other girlfriends. But you are Loke's first-ever girlfriend that he truly loves, and you love him back with all your heart. He promised himself that he would change, that he would never have a girlfriend other than you. And of course, he kept his promise. You are so happy that you changed the male. And now, the two of you will be having fun on this day.
You woke up by the sound of your alarm clock, stretching in your bed, you turned the alarm off. You sat up on your bed, looking around your room. "Today's the day Loke had invited me to enjoy Spring..." You mumbled to yourself, getting out of bed with a smile gracing your lips. You took a quick shower, slipped into your [f/c] dress, then tied your hair into [f/h].
"[Name]-chan~!" There goes your boyfriend. He is already in front of your house, fetching you for another grand date. "Coming!" You yelled back as you raced down the stairs and then put on your shoes. "Good morning Loke!" You greeted him when you opened the door. There he stood with a bouquet of flowers for you, he was wearing a black tuxedo in his spirit form. "For my lovely girlfriend," He gave you the bouquet which you accepted.
"Thanks, Loke!" You gave him a kiss on the cheeks. "Shall we go then?" He held his arm out, motioning you to take it. "Gladly" You entwined your hand in his arm. Loke decided to take you to a cafe shop since you hadn't eaten for breakfast yet.
The two of you sat outside the cafe, and a waiter went to your table to take your orders. "What do you want, [Name]-chan? It's my treat" Loke smiled at you. "I will have [f/drink] and [f/snack]" You told the waiter while reading the menu. The waiter wrote your order, bowed then left.
"What do you think about Spring, [Name]-chan?" The orange-haired asked you. "Well, it's kinda okay. I got to watch the cherry blossoms, look for a four-leaf clover, and feed the ducks at the pond" You replied, leaning on the table. "I see" Loke smiled again. "How about you?" You turned to him.
"Me?" Loke chuckled, and you nodded. "Every day is perfect for me when I get to see you" He stated, another one of his cheesy lines. "Oh, really?" You laughed. "Don't be like that, [Name]-chan. You're literally my life, after all" He lifted your chin to lock eyes with him, and you can't help but blush.
"Yeah right. Well, you are a celestial spirit and I am a human. You can't die while a human can" You retorted, looking away from his gaze. "If you die, I will come with you" He removed his hand as he said that. You looked at him in confusion, "You will what?"
"Just like I said, I will come with you" He repeated, adjusting his blue glasses. "Why would you do that?" You asked again. "Just like I told you earlier, you are literally my life. If you die, I die" He explained, lips forming into a smile. You just huffed, "If spirits can actually die"
Before Loke can argue back with you, your orders came that prevented him from saying anything. You enjoyed the first part of your spring break with Loke, just sitting outside the cafe while eating, chatting with your boyfriend, and watching the flowers bloom.
After your breakfast, the two of you went to the pond. "Why are we here again?" You asked him, walking your way towards a pond filled with ducks. "We're here to feed the ducks!" He beamed at you, eyes brimming with excitement and enthusiasm.
"Okay..." You sweat-dropped but smiled. The orange-haired gave you some corn and peas for the duck, then motioned you to kneel near the pond. You obeyed his orders and then started feeding the ducks. The two of you enjoyed the time, chatting and laughing while feeding the ducks.
After all the food was gone, Loke decided to take you to the park next. "And what are we going to do here?" You asked him, a smile on your face as you curiously wanted to know what was in his mind. "We're going to find a four-leaf clover" He snaked an arm on your waist, pulling you close. You blushed at his sudden actions, "W-what are you doing?! We're in public, don't do things like this!"
"Oh, come on [Name]-chan~ The park is a perfect place for couples like us~" He flirtatiously whispered in your ear, you could feel shivers running down your spine. "And the best part, the loser has to obey the winner's every command" He added. Now you're sweating.
"S-shut up! And just remove your arm from me and start whatever you just declared!" You flushed red while struggling to get out of his grip. He chuckled before releasing you, you sighed in relief and started to search for a four-leaf clover.
At the park, four-leaf clovers are hard to find, especially when there are a lot of people hanging around the place. And unluckily, Loke is the one who first found the lucky green leaf. "Damn that Lion" You hissed under your breath as you stood up from the ground, glaring at his happy face.
"Don't glare, [Name]-chan~ You're going to enjoy the remaining time you will have with me, after all" He walked to you with the small green leaf between his fingers. "Whatever" You rolled your eyes, arms crossed and face flushed red because of what he meant, and you understood what he meant.
"Let's go and watch the cherry blossoms next, shall we?" He suggested, extending his hand to you. "Well... I guess it doesn't seem so bad" You replied while placing your hand on top of his. He gave your hand a squeeze before leading you toward the center of Magnolia, where the large rainbow sakura trees are planted.
It's almost evening and the sakura leaves will become rainbow in color. Loke knew that you both love rainbow and sakura trees and since you hadn't seen those beautiful trees, he planned to take you to watch them glow. "There are a lot of people here" You commented while the two of you were making your way towards the front. "There will be a special event here soon, that's why there are plenty of people" Loke explained.
"I see. I don't usually go out of my house, so that's why I don't know what's happening in Magnolia that much" You looked down, flustered. "Don't worry about it, [Name]-chan. I will take you outside often so you enjoy here in Magnolia" Loke flashed you a smile, and you smiled back.
Once you and Loke were in front, you saw many large sakura. "Wow!" Your eyes widened in awe, Loke just smiled. "Let's wait and there is still a surprise coming right up," Loke told you, you nodded. After a while, when the skies darkened, the sakura's leaves slowly glowing rainbow.
"Amazing!" You breathed, awestruck at the scene before you. "I know, that's why I took you here" Loke snaked his arm around your waist, pulling you closer. At first, you flinched at the sudden contact, but then you relaxed then placed your head on his shoulder.
"Loke...?" You called, still watching the Sakura light up. "Hm...?" He hummed. "Thank you for this day," You said. "No problem. I'm happy to give everything to my girlfriend, after all," He replied. You gave him a quick peck on the lips before resuming your watch.

Nalu One-Shot - Baby Please Come Home (Christmas Special!)
Hello again! I've created another one-shot (boy I'm kicking these out) to celebrate the holiday season! Please, take a look if you're willing, and enjoy a little sample below- it's a small one, but the fic sure isn't!
Tumblr media
“Thank you, Lucy…” He mumbles and she trembles at the vulnerability of it. Her heart slams into her ribs as he runs his hands up and down her back and in the most selfish part of her mind she revels in his embrace, so overwhelmed by his soft touch and sweet acceptance of her gift.
“Merry Christmas,” She smiles when he pulls away and she’s surprised when he doesn’t let go, their noses only a few inches from each other. She reaches a hand up to stroke the tears off his cheeks, and that seems to break some kind of wall down between them as he leans in closer, a sliver of air separating them. She doesn’t speak, afraid to break the spell on him, too ashamed to admit she wants to eliminate the barrier altogether. She licks her lips, legs quivering when he follows the motion, and a pressure on her chest steals the breath from her lungs- scarcely breathing at the sight of whatever new fire starts to smolder in his eyes.

before read more is when they each realized they had feelings, after is when they started to do anything with it
spoilers for gmgs and alvarez??? if people havent seen them yet
its after the gmgs and probably during the dragon king festival that sting realized he really liked natsu
like natsu kicked his ass in that 2v2 and i feel like most dragon slayers would find that hot so he probably started to realize his idolizing of "the salamander" has turned into a crush around then
which made him a bit more angry at fairy tail and a bit more willing to try and fight them in the final brawl. where he, again, got his shit wrecked. and not even by natsu
and during the festival when nearly everyone was bandaged up and already running on fumes natsu was one of the few who wasnt nearly that bad
so when the fight was nearly done and natsu was able to be on the ground and not flying on a dragon he was the only one who could move quickly
bc sting nearly got impaled by falling debris an there was no chance he could move out of the way an ultear had long since turned back time already an there wasnt much light he could hide in
natsu was able to shove him out of the way and the debris only grazed their legs. gave sting a concussion, falling down on the brick road with all the force of natsu fucking dragneel in a protective state, but that was better than death and oops there goes my heart
natsu probably realized in the alvarez arc somewhere
itd be firmly during or after sting beats larcade / rahkeid
natsu woulda had no thoughts before that. the most hed think about sting is as a friend in a lesser way to gajeel, since they both started off "bad" but gajeels in his guild and sting wasnt so. more time to bond with gajeel
when sting ate rogue's shadows natsu could feel it. hes fucking unconscious, yeah, but hes also draconic and demonic fire. he can feel the presence and absence of warmth. so when warm light meets warm darkness, he can feel it
it absolutely did not help that little "are you a dragon or a demon" thing going on in his core but it did pull him towards the right answer faster than canon. just more painful and it just kinda sped the whole thing up more so natsu was burning up on lucy's back before they could fully get to porlyusica
the realization wouldve come at the end when everyone had time to share their side of the story. saying "im neither. im human" doesnt really affect your instincts and whatnot. hed already be looking between rogue and sting when someone mentioned they were doing something after he had passed out
he had long since realize rogue's shadows could be cold and warm. he figured it was rogue doing something wacky while sting did something wacky. learning sting fought through starvation, ate rogue's shadows, and beat someone up WHILE STILL FIGHTING STARVATION. and it was ALL FOR NATSU. his heart went soaring. even if he just thought he was amazed and/or proud of how far sting had come. so he,,,, didnt actually realize it
read more ^^^
when sting realized, he also already thought natsu and lucy were together. hence his constant idea that hes just gonna be the idiot pinning in the background to an obliviously thickheaded, taken man for comedic relief
when natsu realized-without-realizing, not only did he not actually realize it, but he just kinda. shrugged. and he started wanting to get to know sting more and train with him more and fight with him more but like. thats just typical friendly behavior to natsu
and sting actually let natsu do all that. he let natsu pull him away from guild master work to talk and train and go on quests and whatnot. but it just meant that sting could throw flirts straight at natsu's face and get either a too-serious answer, a too-joking answer, or a blank stare bc what in the hell does that mean
sting would walk over to lucy at some point in time and be all "look your boyfriend is far too fucking dumb. i love him but i respect that you two are together but also can i go on fake dates with him. please think of the comedy of me, sabertooth's master, saying i go on dates with lucy heartfilia's boyfriend. thatd be so fucking funny"
but then lucy just looks at him and is all "my,,, my what? are you saying natsu's my boyfriend?"
sting would look back at her and nod and hed be confused bc. what does that mean. and when lucy starts busting a gut laughing her ass off hes even more confused
when she finally calms down shed say "natsu's more like my dumbass friend who couldnt tell the difference between flirting and shit-talking in a fight. i cant deal with something like that in a partner. hes all yours"
so sting gets excited. hes thinking about all the dates and all the gifts and all the funky little pickup lines and then he realizes just what lucy said and he realizes that not only did she immediately knew who he was talking about. meaning hes already so fucking obvious. but that natsu straight up doesnt get flirting. which is also obvious but to have it confirmed
he had run off after quickly thanking lucy. so when he realized this he was already way too far away. his hearing sucks but he KNOWS lucy is laughing her ass off and honestly he would be too if he wasnt the one smitten with a dumbass
sting would just say fine. whatever. all those fake date ideas he had were just going to be real dates whether natsu would say they were or not.
dinners
walks
picnics
sleepovers
shopping
quests
whenever he showed up at sabertooth
whenever he showed up at fairy tail
walking to get some random thing for someone
training
zooming to fairy tail in the light just to materialize for a moment, smack natsu upside the head for doing something dumb, and zooming back to sabertooth
sting got desperate to call everything a date. he even called them dates TO NATSU'S FACE. and he wasnt getting it
he saw lucy and gray and happy and cana and laxus and minerva and gajeel and mirajane fucking strauss tease natsu! hes sure erza even got in on it!! hes sure lisanna and yukino got in on it!!! natsu just kept saying how good of a friend sting was and how proud he was of his accomplishments. WHAT WAS THERE NOT TO GET
sting even kissed his cheek one time. natsu saved his ass on a quest. again. for the like eighth time. but this one was actually a mistake and not the dramatized little mess ups sting does sometimes to see what natsu would do. so he thanked him with a kiss to the cheek and natsu just SMILED and said "that's what friends are for!" WHAT.
sting didnt even know how natsu couldnt tell the difference between talking smack and flirting
until natsu "talked shit" in a fight and THAT WAS FLIRTING. THAT WAS STRAIGHT UP FLIRTING NATSU WHAT THE FUCK.
but noooo natsu would say hes was talking SMACK. STINGS BOUTTA SMACK YOU UPSIDE THE HEAD AGAIN DUMBASS
when the training had finished and natsu said that sting just. went on a rant. about how different shit talking and flirting was. he went into details. he gave examples. he made sure to start trying to kick natsu to make sure he was paying attention because their adhd asses liked to just look off at butterflies every fucking second without something to do
sting got so riled up he started throwing white attacks around at natsu. natsu started throwing fire back but he was asking questions that just KEPT. MAKING STING. SO ANNOYED. BECAUSE HOW HAS NO ONE EXPLAINED THIS PART OF MODERN HUMAN BULLSHIT YET.
it was when stings voice got so scratchy and his throat got so raw that he finally stopped giving natsu a fucking crash coarse in modern romance. he stopped fighting and back on the ground. and it was silent
until natsu walked over, straddled stings hips, and said "so... all that time we were eating and talking and fighting, you were trying to mate me?"
and sting drags his hands down his face and looks up at natsu with the least impressed expression he can while honestly very embarrassed. he cant even say anything again. so he just nods.
"yknow you couldve just said 'hey, want to be my mate?', and i wouldve said yes"
"BULL FUCKING SHIT"
"i mean i wouldve asked you to wait because it only took until you started throwing white magic at me just now to realize that i liked you but. i probably wouldve said yes a few months ago."
"FUCK YOU, NATSU DRAGNEEL"
"do it yourself, coward"
happy and lector, who had taken to the sky the moment they started using magic, just sigh when that made sting start sputtering. natsu probably didnt even fully realize what that meant. but the exceeds are just glad the long and torturous slow burn is finally fucking over

Story: The Time Agent
By McSquidster
Summary: "The big, memorable, and important moments in life are merely the sum of all the small, unmemorable ones. Her choice was simply the sum of billions of factors. Every influence she had received throughout her life. Every person she had met. Every little success and failure. And of course... him."

I wrote a little ficlet!
Rating: T
Summary: A ficlet of a scene from when Gajeel and Levy were working for the magic council.
Excerpt:
“Yeah, but now the paperwork I have to do has tripled,” She put her pen down and looked up at him. “Which means I have to stay late tonight if I want to get this stuff in on time.” Her fingers traced up his arm and she leaned in towards him. “Which means by the time I get home my boyfriend, who I haven’t seen in almost two weeks, will already be fast asleep and neither of us will get any.” She ran her hand under his chin, lifting it slightly. “So we’ll both be pent up until we can finally find time for each other in our busy schedules, which could be weeks.” Their faces were no more than an inch apart, he leaned in for a kiss, but she pulled away and began writing again.
