people on twitter have been arguing about george rr martins involvement in elden ring for going on two days because a youtuber i like (who is otherwise likeable and knowledgeable in the subjects he talks about on his channel and is also - most importantly for forgiveness- a hot twink) made a kind of dumb tweet about how he doesnt think martin was actually involved in developing the story for elden ring and that it was a pr stunt. which is like demonstrably not true and a bit silly. but more importantly people arguing about it has just made me really really wanna reread asoiaf…………. like perhaps after elden ring dlc…. i do miss the insane levels of family based character drama set in a societally collapsing fantasy world. hm.

3 major milestones of supernatural, the 200th episode, the 300th episode and the grand finale. What do they have in common? Glad you asked! Well, you see, the people behind spn hated Castiel and Misha with a passion, but they also couldn't get rid of them bc fans loved them too much. So they simply excluded fanfavourite main character Castiel (as well as his son, another fanfavourite main character) from all 3 of these huge celebrations. Because the show was always at its best when it was just about the brothers, amirite?

This whole part was really difficult for me to change. Starting with Sonic’s blood-freezing pun.

And here’s the fanfavourite scene in which Eggman snaps. I know the Doctor says epic lines here, but the problem is... those are just empty threats, since Eggman won’t interact with the Zeti EVER AGAIN. So, instead of Eggman promising to eat hearts and burn worlds...

...I have Eggman being enraged of the fact he’s no longer the boss and doesn’t have any power or control over anything or anyone (he still smashes the ice wall with his bare hands, and still looks badass in the process).

In Eggman’s mind, only HE can be the big bad, the public enemy no. 1, the one who calls the shots and laughs at the misery of others.

Keep this in mind: Sonic is still the one Eggman hates the most (for kicking the shell away and making him lose everything), and it’s Sonic the one who Eggman wants to ruin the most.

Eggman already has a revenge plan in mind, and we’ll see the first hint at the end of this very post.

This scene is perfection.

End of Frozen Factory. Orbot makes a snow body for Cubot, which gives Tails a chance to be helpful and snark at Eggman once again.

Eggman is not pleased. Therefore, instead of randomly planning to destroy the Lost Hex with null gravity like he did in the original game, this time he talks about, who else?, Tails.

Suddendly, Cubot attacks! Eggman shields Tails with his own body! And Sonic “decapitates” Cubot!

No more “one second you’re contemplating GENOCIDE”. Can you imagine kids playing this game and asking their parents what genocide means?

Now, Sonic scolds Tails.

Too harsh? Maybe, maybe not, but (SPOILER ALERT) this is what Sonic will apologize for at the end of the game.

...oh yes, about Eggman’s revenge plan. When he jumped in to save Tails, he didn’t do it just because. He actually capitalized on Tails’ mistake to look good in Sonic’s eyes, AND at the same time make Tails look bad.

It is Eggman’s plan to cause a rift between Sonic and Tails. I dare say, this was Eggman’s plan in the original script too: look at his face when Sonic scolds Tails.

in the online sphere, people often use references enough that they become embedded into a person's dialect. however, the highly specific meaning often means that these sentences do not translate well.

here, despite the extended use of english, the main focus is the first sentence. these are references that have come from the world of fiction, often in television shows. the first refers to characters that an audience collectively loves, making them a fan favourite, whilst the second refers to a journey a character may go on, along which they'll become a villain, creating their villain arc.

the post, when translated, means:

there are two references to internet culture here, being “emotional support” and “crystal girlie representation”. emotional support is a twist on the well-known idea of emotional support animals, but upon the internet it has become common to refer to anything as emotional support, though it is most regularly a funny animal or an abstract matter. in this case, the poster is using it to refer to a contestant and a stone she regularly had on her.

the crystal girlie representation is a reference to a trend that has become popular lately, romanticising and popularising a lifestyle in which a person admires, collects, and has a deep connection to crystals.

Was looking through AF and seen a load of Skibidi OC's and yours! Just wanted to say they look SUPER cool. My favourite is ROGUE, he has such a cool design. The little group of other people's skibidi oc's there is cool too :3 loved your mass attacks!!

The urge to "woke-ify*" rewrite my old stories and OCs...

*as in adding some queer relationships, getting a bit more diverse with body types and skin colours, etc...

Just me rambling and trying to sort my thoughts, probably long post, so... under cut. Feel free to scroll past, it's mostly for me anyway.

So... when I was about 20 years younger, I wrote this story about a group of 8 teenagers going on your average fantasy journey to find a magical item to destroy The Bad Guy (TM), and in the end, I had 4 (straight) couples. 5 if I include the random side characters along the way.

Aaand they all... well. I was a teenager in a predominantly white town in Germany (there was one black girl in the entire school and a few muslims that were tad darker than the rest of us, if at all), my main interest were anime and let's just say, the characters reflect that.

Old, old art:

Over time, I did some redesigns here and there, giving my green haired elf some actual useful armour, for example, and darkening the skin of some of the characters a bit, too, even if not significantly.

The other day I thought I'd try to play around with some body types, wondering where I could go with this crew. It was more playing around with 3D models in Clip Studio, because I was too tired to look for actual references, so don't judge these sketches, they are merely a base idea for me to work with than anything else... (plus it's digital and I just... I can't. Idk why but I just can't work digitally =__=)

Looking at these now with not tired eyes and mind I'm like... yeah, this has lots of room for improvement, lol. But I have a clear vision in mind, we will see if I can manage to bring that down to paper! (Wish me luck).

Apart from the appearances, I kinda want to go into their dynamics/relationships.

I think, my green haired elf girl (Alayses) would probably end up nonbinary if I wrote her today. She got mistaken as a guy more than once (... as far as I remember. It's been a while lol) and I always wanted her to have an androgynous look (though I never really succeeded with that). If I go this route, I'll have to have a deeper look into German neo pronouns, which will be a whole different problem.

I probably won't tear apart all the couples, because I just love too many of them. But... >_> I guess <_< I'll make a "Fanfavourite*" canon.

*as in... my friends from school who used to read my shitty stories and came up with side-ships lol. It's a bit sad that I barely have contact with any of them anymore, would love to see their reactions.

I mean... I even DREW them together for one of my friends. Can as well just make it canon.

And these two already had something going on in my head back then lol sadly they were just side characters and one of them is dead oops.

Apart from that, Tari will probably end up alone or maybe dead, and Leera... who knows, maybe she elopes with one of the side characters (or ends up alone, too, like she originally should have.)

The thing about all of this is...

IF I go this route, I'll have to rewrite everything. Which probably won't happen for a long time, so it will be all in my head once again.

I wish I could go back to having all that freetime I had when I was younger... freetime and energy, but alas...

so here’s my problem with 3 Hopes, Engage, and Heroes, and the mobile game. One thing I’m very worried about the Fire Emblem franchise on self cannibalizing itself like Star Wars. By publishing now two big releases that are recapitulating former titles rather than new material. Granted, continued sequels as duologies, reboot of very old titles, or references to former titles are nothing new in the Fire Emblem franchise but the very blunt featuring of former hits and not creating new characters worries me. Awakening was intended as swan song, instead becoming a revival. Then Fates, features Rhajat, Caledori, and Asugi as joke comeos for fanfavourites from Awakening, also directly repurposing the favourite Awakening kids Selena, Owain, and Inigo with flimsy lore. And Fates got criticized for the heavy fanservice elements, not only the ecchi ones. So the mobile gacha games comes out. I don’t feel like complaining here because the mobile gacha capitalizes on the hype from the fandom. Anyway, there’s kind of a trend going on about previous titles becoming bankable IP. And the Warriors where old faves can be summoned. And 3 Hopes comes out with an alternate story line which contradicts the 3 Houses lore in not few points, created from the hype around 3 Houses. And now Engage is announced where the player summons once again, like in Hopes and Warriors, old heroic characters, using old characters as bankable IP. I very much loved Three Houses, it certainly resonated a lot with the fanbase for the layered plot and lore (although I really wish for better graphics, cut scene, and clothing design quality next time...) but then looking around the latest releases, the amount of titles referencing, well no, actively using recent hit and old hit IP as full stories kinda bumps me out how much money and energy goes into franchise fanservice.
