Could I get a Hank Pym reading list? Please and thank you.

Hello & of course! I've written a few different reading lists in my time but I'll make an updated one for ease of access & such!

Avenger Origins: Ant-Man & the Wasp – a really good origin interpretation with Stephanie Hans on art.

Age of Ultron #10 – you can read the whole event if you want but to be honest Hank isn't actually in it that much except Wolverine stabs him or whatever. It goes through his childhood & background & marks the beginning of what I imagine was a very ambitious plan by Waid but then Remender happened. Still, a formative comic for Hank & one of my all time single issues of anything ever.

Ant-Man: Season One - another origin of Hank, going towards his growth to being Ant-Man. This isn't technically canon I don't think, but it's super interesting as it very clearly & explicitly intends to depict Hank as a mentally ill man & does so fairly well? Plus Bill Foster is there & I love Bill Foster.

Tales to Astonish #27, #35 - #52 – these are Hank's Tales to Astonish issues, you obviously don't have to read every single one but I really enjoy them, they're super serialised so you can read every issue as a stand-alone which makes it incredibly rereadable for me. Hank does keep appearing in those issues up until #70 so you can keep reading but at that point he's having a lot of team ups and ends up only being in like half the issue.

Fantastic Four #16 - #17 – this is more FF based obviously, but I enjoy it and find it cute as a two-parter. Establishes his relationship with the FF & begins my headcanon that he joined ReedSue once as a third.

Thor: the Mighty Avenger #3 – this is set in the Tales to Astonish days & is quite fun! Hank & Janet & Thor get into some shenanigans & it's good going. Samnee who draws really likes Hank & Jan & it shows a lot in this issue. Hank explicably uses his helmet to control a police officer which he has never done before or since, which I think is a cool application & he should do it again.

Marvel Feature #4 - #11 (I think) – this was an attempt at recreating the Tales to Astonish success but kinda failed, but it's cute & I really like it as a weird obscure story. Hank has a hyperintelligent super dog that Janet got him which was fun. It's chaotic and at one point Janet is a mutant wasp who tries to eat Hank don't worry about it. But it is good.

Now, obviously he has a lot of appearances in Avengers V1 & WCA V2. To be honest I think a lot of stuff evolves over time? So if you want to see the development of his character in Avengers up until he properly departs in #230, just read that continuously. I honestly can't name a lot of issues there where I'd rec for him specifically, because he's sharing space with SO many other characters. He has a little more to do in WCA so here's are some issues, to be honest I can't even remember when he joins but it's fairly soon into the series, his stuff with Ultron starts in #4 - #7 & stuff kinda just happens to Hank including flirting with Tigra until his life falls apart (again) and he attempts suicide in #17. It's an interesting study of him & I think Englehart does it justice. He shows up in that series pretty continuously & starts superheroing again with them & is in almost all of Avengers: West Coast too, so feel free to check that out although don't take what you see of Wanda, Simon & Vision to heart imo.

Marvel Double Feature: Giant-Man or Avengers #379 - #383 – I have never been able to find a scan of this comic online, you might have more luck on the official marvel unlimited app but there is an Ant-Man/Giant-Man: Growing Pains collection comic that brings together a lot of his vital stuff where this series is printed along others. It's honestly insane & I won't lie I got confused at the plot reveal but it's incredibly fun. Hank fucked up a science thing and has to fight big massive bugs and keeps going on these long monologues about how much his life sucks and how much he needs therapy while fighting massive bugs it's so funny. The Kree are there for some reason & Bill Foster is there! A confusing but fun time.

Ant-Man's Big Christmas – a festive comic about Hank & Janet terrorising a young boy's family on Christmas because he sent them a letter. Their dyanmic is so cute here & I like how playful Hank is in it :>

Avengers Academy – Hank is a teacher here looking after a bunch of young up n coming superheroes & I actually really like him in this role. Like he's clearly flawed & doesn't know what he's doing but he also does really resonate with some of those kids. Reptil mentioned him as one of the big heroes in his life so he clearly had an impact. There's a lot of stuff with the kids which is tedious at times if you're not into them but the Hank & Tigra stuff is so sweet.

Avengers: A.I. – this is probably my most formative depiction of Hank in comics. This is the one that establishes his bipolar disorder & is pretty sensitive about how it's depicted? Sam Humphries clearly has a strong vision for this Hank & it's a super refreshing direction IMO. plus he hangs out of Vision & Victor Mancha which is great.

Ant-Man V3 – Al Ewing's 4 issue 60 year anniversary has Hank from Tales to Astonish team up with all subsequent Ant-Men to fight Pymtron, which was fun & cool for the most part!

Don't read anything with Dan Slott or Bendis' names attached IMO, certainly not until you have a super firm understanding of the guy bc these comics he appears in under them are genuinely just so fucking bad.

I'll cap it off here, he appears in other stuff too like Beyond! & Avengers Forever & has a weird arc in Kurt Busiek's Avengers where past Yellowjacket kidnaps Hank but I think Busiek forgot & I can't remember if that ever got resolved? Don't worry about it bascially. But this is some issues I consider formative or otherwise important & major to Hank so I'll keep it here. If you're interested in reading every issue of his ever or something, you can check out the travis-starnes cmro site where he has collected every issue of every character, including Hank's 👍

This is a fun bit of consensual brainwashing, even if the tone isn't quite the way I tend to lean with brainwashing. The particular flavor of brainwashing in play leans just a little into what strikes me as humiliation (though obviously that's subjective), and I prefer to avoid that, personally. But even with that, it's just a hot story. If you like stories that lean into brainwashing and control and behavior modification, this is a good one for you. 9/10 spirals

Awww, romantic mind control is always so much fun. And this is so very romantic. Also plenty of heat, though it's a little too much "sex is the point" for my personal preferences. But seeing how our narrator melts into hypnosis, how aware of it he is and how well it works despite (or because of) that? it's right up my alley. There is a bit where a paragraph is mostly repeated a couple paragraphs later, and there's a reason that makes sense, but also it made me do a doubletake, and if you're the sort of person who's sensitive to stuff like that (and I know some folk are), be aware it does happen. 8/10 spirals

This one is interesting, but not quite ... it doesn't get me invested enough to suspend my disbelief. Maybe it's just 'cause art isn't my thing either - I agree with Michelle, a musical would have been better than this. But all the same, seeing the mental effects on Michelle as she examines the different paintings is good! I just can't see still visuals being *that* engaging, at least not to me. 7/10 spirals

I feel like a world in which Girls(tm) existed would be a world where the APA would have standards on using Girls(tm) in therapy. Unless the folk running the show at the APA (and other associations) got Girls(tm) pretty early... regardless. This is an interesting use of the Girls(tm) hypnosis skill, though ethically it's more than a little ... questionable. But hey, I assume the Girls(tm) do understand how pharmaceuticals work on humans, otherwise she wouldn't be talking about a prescription, I think? Even if it's the human psychologist who's officially writing the script.  It's a good story, just I get very distracted by the logistical concerns. 7/10 spirals

I recognize the story she was dreaming about! Even if she doesn't. And there's a fair bit to love in this story, though the serial recruitment twist at the end isn't my favourite. But if I ignore the last couple of paragraphs, it's a story I really can enjoy. Seeing someone so happy in their slavery that they can't imagine the end of The Silver Chair as a happy ending ... well, there's a number of hypnokinksters who I'm sure understand that approach. 9/10 spirals

I love Jukebox's superhero stories, and this one is no exception. Even if I'm over here being *extremely* ace and baffled by a sex dream being all that compelling, actually. Still, it's a lovely story, and I love how Madame Macabre manages to break out of Silas's power and save the day. 9/10 spirals

I do wonder what the ice cream would taste like (ideally without the mind control effects, as I'm quite happy with my life as it stands :P ) but mostly this story just doesn't hit any of the things I look for in an MC story. Huh. This is going ... somewhere. And I can't imagine it being a happy somewhere, either, but I suppose I just have to wait and see. Poor 4U, dealing with so many conflicting impulses, though. I do hope she gets some time to let her Master smooth those conflicting impulses and thoughts and believes out later - she sure needs it! Still, the plot remains the main draw of this series, and the sex portion is just kinda ... there. 7/10 spirals

Your thoughts on Fushimi's outfit on k 7 stories when he was still with Homura? Personally I find that thing UGLY AF. Like, how dare you gora for putting that shit on him. Should've stick to that purple hoodie just like the one on manga and novel ffs

You mean the terrible pants, right? Let's talk about the terrible pants. Like...just look at these.

What the fuck is happening with those pants? Why do they have zippers where no zippers should be? Are they the kind that you unzip and turn into shorts, is Fushimi wearing the kind of pants my dad used to wear to go on vacation? And the weird....metal things, or whatever those are supposed to be at the top. In some of the official art it's clearer that they're supposed to be textured but the actual animation is colored so poorly it looks like he's wearing pants that are half-fishnet (and I remember that one official art with Homra playing pool and when the small teaser was released everyone thought he actually was wearing fishnets, honestly would have been better. At least fishnets can be stylish). There is no reason for the pants to look this way. And I think they look odd on Fushimi anyway because they're these weird baggy cargo things and he's almost always drawn wearing tighter pants, Yata is the one who wears the oversized stuff not Fushimi.

Though the rest of the outfit is just weird too. Like what is up with those random cut-out bits in the side of the shirt, are those more useless zippers (why so many zippers Saru, did you just finish playing a Final Fantasy game and got inspired). He's apparently wearing a hoodie wrapped around his waist like Yata is but for some reason he has it tied under his existing shirt instead of over so now on top of his silly pants it looks like he has a random black cover over his crotch. And the whole thing looks even weirder from the back:

Again, the poor art quality is not helping at all here, Fushimi and Yata both look like they suddenly changed into skirts or hakama or something. If it wasn't for those side cut outs the shirt wouldn't be terrible, I like the wide neck on him and I actually do like the necklace because Fushimi's been shown to wear jewelry in other media, but all together the outfit just feels so...over-designed, and not in a good way. I don't know why they didn't just go for the hoodie from the Homra official art, which feels like it would have been simpler to draw and looked more in line with casual wear that we've already seen him in.

Fang

I played FF 13 one time and only part way through back when it first released. If I remember correctly, Fang is a character that shows up mostly later in the game and I never played any of the follow up material, so I barely remember Fang. So going purely off of art of her, she's plenty hot, but not uniquely hot or interesting. I'd of course have sex with her if the opportunity presented but lets be honest, that bar is not particularly high.

Given that, for the how, it would be standard pickup procedure: Figure out what she's into, angling to be sub to her domme if possible and get my face pressed into her breasts.

Vanille

I remember Vanille a lot more than Fang, and her design is very cute. She's not a character I ever really think about, but this is a character I've actively sought out porn for before.

As for how, the biggest problem here is that I can't actually imagine her being dommy, so we have a two subs problem going on. If a domme mood hit me I think she would make a great sub, and I would love to watch Fang fuck her brains out. Also, Vanille would make a very cute maid.

There are so many different Links, and I'd fuck *most* of them. Toon Link is 10, so that's a no for example, but generally speaking the Links are quite fuckable. Now to get to the point, Link makes an extremely fuckable crossdresser or femboy (these are different but related things! Both very sexy and good!). The range here (from yes to oh god yes) is representing different links in different modes of presentation. Ideal fuckable link is BOTW/TOTK Link in femboy style.

I tend to get dommy to crossdressers and femboys, and I can tell you if I was dom we would start with me basically playing dress up with him. It would be an elaborate process. Then I'd tie him up and peg him. I wouldn't be opposed to subbing though. Whatever. Link is hot, and only gets hotter in fem clothing.

Samus

Samus is too much of a blank slate to really be absolute top tier, but she is way up there. The Zero Suit is hot, but my preference is her Metroid Fusion and super metroid under armor outfit (though the official art isn't amazing.) There isn't much else to say.

Despite her very strong vibe, I tend to like her in a submissive role. I mean, if I was having sex with her I would sub because I am extremely subby, but whenever I written her in a sex scene it's always as a sub or victim in non con. I have some rough drafts of a silly thing between her and wii fit trainer (I ship!), and a rough draft of a tentacle rape scene I wrote with her, but never really got either to a point where I wanted to put it out there.

D.Va

D.Va is great. She's sexy cute and fun, and has just enough depth as a character to not be boring (unfortunately, she doesn't go even an inch deeper than that, but that's another rant entirely).

D.Va is the biggest sub in Overwatch. You *can* write her dominant, and I've read some very sexy stuff doing that, but she's best being a mildly bratty sub in my opinion. I think she works great as a training sub - that is, a submissive with an arc, that gets trained (consenting) into the perfect obedient pet. Bratty and rebellious enough to make it particularly interesting. I have half a dozen scenes of domme!Sym and sub!D.Va outlined that center around this idea.

The Annual Conference on Type and Typography: Typografika, is a highly anticipated international conference, bringing together more than 300 typographers, type and graphic designers, as well as printmakers and artists.  

As designers and artists, we want to create with expressive, engaging and readable typography that performs well across all devices.

With so many factors to take into account from typeface choice and layout through to page speed, responsive design and variable fonts, it’s hard to know how to keep up.

Over the course of four weeks, Typografika’24 will give you the full picture of what typography can and should be on web and print. Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned pro, you’ll find heaps to learn and take away.

Joseph Churchward: Artist and Type Designer.

Joseph Churchward is a Samoan-born New Zealand graphic designer and typographer. He is known for having designed an estimated 690 original typefaces, many of which are in use around the world. His designs were also used in the masthead of The Evening Post newspaper. Churchward is born in Apia, Samoa, of Samoan, English, Scottish, Tongan and Chinese heritage. He founded Churchward International Typefaces in 1969. German company Berthold Fototypes subsequently distributed his fonts throughout the world. Over the span of his career, Churchward created more than 582 original typefaces. Joseph will be offering two different lectures as listed below on two different days.

Tobias Frere Jones: Educator and Type Designer.

Over 25 years, Tobias Frere-Jones has established himself as one of the world’s leading typeface designers, creating some of the most widely used typefaces, including Poynter Oldstyle, Whitney, Gotham, Surveyor, Tungsten and Retina.. He operates the company Frere-Jones Type in New York City, and teaches typeface design at the Yale School of Art MFA program.

Verena Gerlach: Type and graphic designer

Verena Gerlach was an instructor of photography at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin in 1991 and spent 1992 doing a first-year course at Glasgow School of Art. From 1993 to 1998 she studied communication design at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee and spent one year (1996) as an exchange student at the London College of Printing.

FF Karbid, FF Sizmo, and Chambers Sans are some of the few typefaces she created, Verena has her own studio for corporate design in Berlin.

Nadine Chahine: Researcher and Type Designer

Dr. Nadine Chahine is an award-winning Lebanese type designer working as the UK Type Director and Legibility Expert at Monotype. She has an MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD from Leiden University, The Netherlands. Nadine’s research focus is on eye movement and legibility studies for the Arabic, Latin, and Chinese scripts. She has numerous awards including two Awards for Excellence in Type Design from the Type Directors Club in New York in 2008 and 2011.

Her typefaces include: the best-selling Frutiger Arabic, Neue Helvetica Arabic, Univers Next Arabic, Palatino and Palatino Sans Arabic, and Koufiya.

Carol Twombly

Carol Twombly (born 1959) is an American designer, best known for her type design. She worked as a type designer at Adobe Systems from 1988 through 1999, during which time she designed, or contributed to the design of, many typefaces, including Trajan, Myriad and Adobe Caslon.

Twombly retired from Adobe and from type design in early 1999, to focus on her other design interests, involving textiles and jewelry. American calligrapher and type designer, a graduate from Rhode Island School of Design where her professor was Charles Bigelow. Joined the digital typography program at Stanford University, also under Bigelow. Working from the Bigelow & Holmes studio she designed Mirarae, which won her the 1984 Morisawa gold prize. Since 1988 she has been a staff designer at Adobe.

Veronika Burian: Type Designer

Veronika is born in Prague, originally studied industrial design in Munich and then worked as a product designer in Vienna and Milan. Discovering her true passion for type, she graduated with distinction from the MA in Typeface Design course in Reading, UK in 2003. Burian founded TypeTogether together with José Scaglione, today with twelve employees working around the world, one of the most important, independent type foundries. In addition to the development of tailored solutions for a variety of clients, the focus of TypeTogether’s font catalog is on expressive text typefaces for digital and analog media. Her typeface Maiola received, amongst others, the TDC Certificate of Excellence in Type Design 2004. Several other typefaces by TypeTogether have also been recognised by international competitions, including ED-Awards and ISTD.

Jessica Hische: Letterer and Designer

Jessica Nicole Hische is an American letterer, illustrator, and type designer. She is best known for her personal projects, 'Daily Drop Cap' and the “Should I Work for Free” flowchart. She published In Progress: See Inside a Lettering Artist's Sketchbook and Process, from Pencil to Vector in September 2015, which gives insight to her creative process and work she has completed as a hand lettering artist. She has spoken at over 100 conferences worldwide, but splits her time between San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY.

Johnson Witehira: Educator and type designer

Johnson Witehira is an artist, designer and academic of Tamahaki and Ngāi Tū-te-auru descent. He is the co-founder of both Indigenous Design and Innovation Aotearoa (IDIA) and Waahi Wairua. Since completing his doctorate in Māori Visual Art (2013), Johnson has been on a mission to bring Māori culture into all aspects of New Zealand life. He has led the development of Māori design for some of New Zealand's most prominent organisations. Other significant design projects include developing the first set of Māori alphabet blocks, co-designing the PAKU gardening tools for children and developing the first functional Māori-specific typeface.

I'm caving, here's some VF HCs but pidge centric because he's my babygirl

Pidge and Larmina do get along but Larmina acts cold to him because he never could tell her why he had to leave so ubruptly after The Incident, she saw it as him pulling away and acting like every other adult in their life

Speaking of, Larmina and Pidge used to be glued together almost like siblings or the favorite cousin in the family, her ninja skills came from him

Pidge can't eat marshmallows, all Baltons can't. It's likely the high fructose corn syrup in it that ends up punching them in the gut and sends them into a bad drug trip

He has heterochromia! His glasses hide it most of the time but his eyes are normally brown, they're green because his eyes have a reflective backing to it which is what we see

got like 4-5 cats, Salami (the oldest), Oscar (the middle child), Miwa (the alien one), and Kevin (the kitten), and also green lion who he will die for before giving up his pilot seat

this man is not straight, I refuse to believe it, he is still interested in women though. Currently have him as Panromantic Demisexual

speaking of romance: I pair him with all the pilots gotta be honest, mainly shipped with Lance, Hunk, the new royal advisor, and the head of the castle guards

he does pole workouts, helps with core body strength and grip, he tries to keep himself balanced with exercise he thinks is fun

had a falling out with the original mice, ended up building the robot ones himself but he underestimated his abilities and now they're sentient :/

he's quite literally the teams trump card, with more years of combat experience than the team and his specialty in incapacitating enemies, theres a time and place though so he never goes all out

Using this to help flesh out the character for my plot

VF Hunk HCs 💛✨

Pulling from the comics, he’s from a big family, literally, he’s the youngest out of about 5 siblings and also the smallest out of them all

Yes the team has met them and they all get along, his family loves Pidge the most since he’s the baby of the team

He’s got tons of tattoos, he has a sleeve on one arm and the other is just small ones

He helped give some personal touches to the uniforms, while the design itself is kept basic and uniform (aha) everyone wants their own touch of something

In his case he and pidge got short sleeves as they work in the hangar a lot, will probably add to this soon but in terms of uniforms that’s all I got

His anger issues didn’t fully go away to be honest, he learned to reign in it yes but it comes out when kids and mothers specifically are in danger

That’s because he really does care for kids and he remembers his own mother and if he doesn’t want his own to get hurt he won’t let anybody else’s get hurt either

He’s the only one with a normal ish family, he’s got two parents and siblings that are all alive and well

He does have some issues based on how his family treats each other but they mainly get along even if it isn’t entirely healthy

I swear I’m working on my rewrite, script writing is just hard 😫 I’m currently working in the first episode which is basically the same as the canon one with some changes to the Drule side of things so hopefully I’ll be able to post soon

not a flower ask (sorry), and extra apologies if this has been already asked before, but what got you writing in the first place?

im absolutely fascinated by your works. FFS has been one of my favorite things in the world since i discovered it. i feel like im learning so much about myself and other people just by reading it. i honestly aspire to write like you and aquire interest, too.

I've always been interested in writing, but I went through phases with it.

Like I started writing pretty serious (I thought) fantasy and science fiction when I was 8 or 9 years old. And I remember printing it out on an archaic computer when I was around 11 years old (and then my mother threw it all out, so I don't have most of it). But I remember even then I was writing a lot, doing worldbuilding, doing research, etc.

And then I stopped writing for a while, and picked it up again towards the end of highschool mostly as a way to just give my overactive (extremely overactive) brain something to do. I didn't want to be a writer at that point, I wanted to be an artist (I was doing a lot of that too), or a psychologist, or an ornithologist, actually just about anything other than a writer, lmao.

At university, I started picking up creative writing electives because I thought they'd be easy passes, and because I was doing (among other things) a major in scriptwriting, credits for creative writing counted as credits for scriptwriting in our university system. I actually ended up picking up so many creative writing units that I have an unacknowledged Major in Creative Writing as well, and was invited to do Honours in the Creative Writing faculty despite never officially being in that faculty lmao. So I started writing again. During this time, I mostly wrote Very Serious (sigh) poetry, and Very Serious (sigh) short stories. This was the period of time where I won the most awards, but it was also the period of time that I enjoyed writing least.

I think during this time - I only vaguely remember this - I also wrote some very bad OC/Snape fanfiction that no one will ever ever find because it's under another username lmao. I did enjoy that, but there's nothing like an old outdated university writing faculty to delegitimise fanfiction for you.

After that I stopped writing completely, because the joy in it was gone. Honestly, I didn't know if I'd ever write again?

And then...

I spent about 6-7 years working as a professional artist actually. I was too sick to work a standard full-time job (and sadly too sick to stay on at university and do all the postgrad stuff I wanted to do), and that was kind of 'all that was left' and just... I remember starting to pick up writing on the side very tentatively. I wrote some side stories for small fandoms. Ironically, every story I wrote for fandom back then was always short, usually 1-3k max. People now probably wouldn't believe it, given how long everything I write now is. But yeah most of the stuff I used to write was very short. I wrote for fandoms like NCIS, Profiler and Bones.

And then I wrote a story called Every Day Awake which was queer as fuck, and was kind of a breakthrough narrative for me. It was original, and I still want to clean it up and publish it actually. And after that I wrote a Misfits fic and a Mysterious Skin fic and abandoned writing again for a while because of mental and physical illness stuff.

Eventually I had to quit the art. In that limbo, depressed and lost, I started writing From the Darkness We Rise on a complete limb. It was meant to be 'something to make me feel something enjoyable again but I'll probably delete it after a few chapters.' But readers asked me to make a Tumblr to talk about updates and answer asks, so I did that. And then readers talked to me about Gwyn and Augus, so I thought about it. And then readers asked me to start a Patreon for Gwyn and Augus, (because I have always financially struggled), so I did that. And all the while I thought 'this is wild, but surely this can't last.'

And here I am, like 8 years later, and I find I quite like it. :)

(Imho, there are many many better writers out there that you could aspire to write like, read as widely and across as many genres as you can, there are marvels out there in the written world, absolute marvels).

So, September is coming up, and with it smutember, and we’re doing it again! (At least I hope you’re with me, lol).

Just like last year, it runs alongside to the official daily word prompts on the official smutember blog: Smutember is an event that runs all throughout September for all fandoms. The following is meant as an addition, not a replacement. If you want to do daily prompts, please use the official words prompts (linked above). However, since daily prompts can be a bit intimidating (especially for a fandom corner that’s 25+ years old like ours and people in it have busy lives), as the resident smut advocate in our fandom, I again customized an alternative that can still incorporate the official themes.

Just like last year, down below you have a list of TROPE AND THEME PROMPTS. They’re a remix of sorts of last year’s tropes, with some you’ve seen before and some new ones, meant to spark a variety of ideas. The idea is that with these you can post once (or twice) per week instead of daily.

Be it for fanart or fanfic or any other sort of fanwork, tropes can be combined, (and they can be combined with the daily themes too), whatever floats your boat. 1. Rating: These fics don’t necessarily need to be M or, in the case of Ao3, E- rated. Obviously, they are very, very welcome to be explicit for this event, but you can also go T-rated and stay in lime or ‘blacked out’-territory if you’re uncomfortable with writing explicit scenes! Crazy Theory of the Day: Year Frozen Happens

First of all I must say that I haven't read “Frozen 2: Dangerous Secret” so if you have any information in that book related to the post that contradicts something here, sorry.

The first information on the subject comes from the art book of "Frozen 1" where it says that the original idea was for the film to take place in the 1700s, but it was changed to the 1840s.

The second relevant piece of information without falling into the scope of crazy speculation is the map. In "Frozen Fever" there is a map with the roman numerals MDCCCXL that means 1840, so that means that the short film that happens a year after F1 happens exactly in 1840 since the maps are used as calendars two hundred years ago and not only has year/decade that were created, right? But in "Frozen 2" there is also a map and that map also has MDCCCXL, but that map Iduna and Agnarr used 3 years before F1 and four years before FF.

"Frozen Fever" map vs "Frozen 2" map. Which two two would you trust? Does the map that appears in an animated short or in the film sequence 100% official? What looks more like an animated graphic just made to illustrate something that was happening or what a map really is? I have my choice.

Another point that still does not reach the pure theories to analyze is the speech said by Agnarr, he comments that he was reading “The Little Mermaid” for Iduna, that book was released in 1837, but when Agnarr reads it he is just over 14 years old then including this account "Frozen 1" would take place in approximately 1871. But this is a reference to the real world and the author of the book so I don't know how relevant it is to take it into account.

Another reference is literally the book “The Snow Queen”. The book was published on December 21, 1844 (in the "Frozen 1" art book erroneously says 1845). December 21st is Elsa's birthday which was inspired by the winter solstice.

Taking into account the date of publication of these two books, there are two theories:

1 - Agnarr read the book of “The Little Mermaid” in 1837 when he was 17 and not 14 years old, because 7 years later he would have been 24 years old, which is the official age that Agnarr was when Elsa was born, placing her exactly on December 21, 1844 which is the launch day for “The Snow Queen”.

2 - The book of "The Little Mermaid" is just an ordinary easter egg that makes reference to something, but it does not make any difference the plot of the film. But Elsa was still born on December 21 as a reference to "The Snow Queen", but in 1823 and the reference to 1844 is F1.

I believe in number 2 more since it would link with the map dates.

A - In what year and month does fog cover the Enchanted Forest: if we take into account that they were trapped there exactly “34 years, 5 months and 23 days” and put it like the month 10 / October in which F2 happens because it is autumn we arrived in the month 4 / April or 5 / May (I believe more in 4). Then the enchanted mist took place in April / May in the spring of 1830 (number 1) or 1813 (number 2).

B - In what year Iduna and Agnarr die: in 1862 or 1841.

C - In what year, month and day does F1 start: in theory 1 the year is 1865, in theory 2 the year is 1844. The film takes place in the summer, I am a fan of the theory that takes place on July 29 making reference to the day of Santo Olaf / Olavo.

D - In which year and month F2 takes place: October 1868 or 1847.

E - In what year and month "Frozen 3" will happen: the franchise according to my theories has already attended spring, summer and autumn, the winter that takes place between the 12th and 3rd months in the northern hemisphere is missing, choose the month. The year ... the franchise likes the number 3 and Anna I believe she will be pregnant with 24 making reference to Agnarr, but I don't know if an F3 can happen in the same year or not, as I don't believe that Disney will show Anna pregnant (at most a post-credit scene of a short) so I think in 1872 or 1851.

Although these theories make some sense and again follow some patterns, it is much more likely that Jennifer Lee never thought about the exact year that the films happen and these little clues that I have gathered here are just a bunch of things played just for the purpose of fun and not speculate something. But until we have official information, let's go to the speculations and these are mine.

PUT YOUR MONEY ON LADYNOIR, KIDS

(This has been sitting around in my drafts for a while, but in light of how many people were surprised by S4 starting with lukanette bombing, it felt like a time as good as any to clean it up and post it.)

There is much to be said about the Love Square being the heart of Miraculous Ladybug, but I’ll leave it at the central point: The Love Square isn’t just “the big ship”, it is a quintessential element to the self-perception of both our heroes in seasons 1-3. The three-and-a-half different relationships that Marinette and Adrien have between them each reflect not only the two of them relating to each other, but speak volumes about how the two of them see themselves playing the different parts that they do in and out of their masks. And that, in turn, is key to understanding one of the questions the series does discuss on a meta level: when all the world’s a stage, what is our sincerest self?

Ladrien is my personal heroin and marichat might be the fandom’s jam, and the end result is and will always be adrinette. But I’m fairly confident that none of them will be the first to pass the finish line, for two reasons. 

The first is all in the telling: having Ladybug and Cat Noir literally transform into Adrien and Marinette’s alternative love interests as Snake Noir and Dragonbug is fairly solid foreshadowing that ladynoir will happen before The Reveal.

The second is all in what is being told, because looking at the difference between how Adrien loves Ladybug contra how Marinette loves Adrien, that’s probably how their relationship has to happen. Miraculous Ladybug does a solid amount of commenting upon the parts we perform in the different situations we navigate in life, and no-where is that more obvious than in the way its two main characters love each other and keep walking into metaphorical walls as they pursue that love. 

So find yourself a “hits from 1997″ playlist and sit down for 4.2k meta about how Adrien loves Ladybug contra how Marinette loves Adrien and how that means ladynoir is - at least in line with how the two have been portrayed on the show this far - building up to be a narrative necessity.

1. BYE BYE BUTTERFREE I wasn’t surprised to see lukanette end before it ever really began, because to borrow the words later used about the romance in a certain '97 literary debut... those weren’t “hints” dropped, those were anvils. The official S4 summary takes special care to mention that as the guardian, Marinette is “too busy" to pursue Adrien. The new OP is mostly identical to the old one, maintaining both the start and the ending where Marinette is swooning over a clueless Adrien. The NYC special happened. The last TV episode before it ended with Marinette and Adrien both moving on from an unrequited love and trying with someone else, yet the symbolic ice cream symbolically didn’t replace their supposedly abandoned love interests with their new ones, but with themselves. The romantic pacing might have shifted, but the subjects remained. 

Luka’s relationship with Marinette existed for the purpose of failing. It changed preciously little in Marinette, who did nothing more than say “okay” in order to win it, faced no challenges or difficulties or even any hard choices in deciding to go for it, and lost nothing significant when it ended. There were absolutely zero negative consequences to any part of it. No matter how clearly she was into someone else, no matter how badly she treated him, no matter that she dumped him. He’s not bitter, he’s not jealous, of course they’ll still be friends. 

The point of The Big Lukanette Episode never was Marinette’s relationship with Luka. When it ends, Marinette isn’t sad because she can’t be with Luka, she’s sad because she can’t have a boyfriend. That was the extent of Luka’s entire existence in the show until this point: he was an easy option if she wanted to hold hands and go on dates. The fact that her collection of Adrien pics remains during their entire relationship speaks for itself.

"Truth” was about sinking lukanette but actually it was about sinking pre-reveal adrinette. For good and bad, this episode persisted in painting Luka as the most selfless and patient person in the world. When not even he could put up with Marinette’s double life, what are the hopes of Adrien Agreste doing so? As has been obvious to anyone with eyes, Adrien is ten times more important to Marinette than Luka ever was. A relationship with him would come with far higher stakes, and would end with a far bigger heartbreak. What Marinette can take away from her relationship with Luka, is that it won’t even be worth trying with Adrien. 

Adrien’s photos are going away only after she ended it with Luka, because only now does Marinette truly embrace the fact that a relationship with Adrien can’t happen even if he were available. What changed with “Truth” is the reason Adrien is out of her reach. Where it used to be because Marinette failed at making her interest clear, the obstacle now is circumstances that she cannot change. She can’t have Adrien because being Ladybug is incompatible with having a normal life. Being Ladybug comes with a line of secrecy that is keeping her away from being truly close to others. 

Except, there is someone who shares those secrets. And this someone is a boy who loves her, and who has shown again and again that he’s happy with as little or as much as she can give him. And who she’s kissed, and who she fell in love with in a future that won’t happen, and who is at this point probably her closest friend outside of Tikki. Who is, in fact, the person she cannot be without: Marinette can give up on Adrien. But she can’t be Ladybug without Cat Noir.

2. SHOULD HAVE SEEN JUST WHAT WAS THERE AND NOT SOME HOLY LIGHT For much of the run of the show, the timing of Marinette getting together with Adrien would be irrelevant. She’s adorable about it, he’s immensely fond of her, they’d grow into each other and figure things out together. But with the darker turn things took in parts of S3 and beyond, it’s clear that the answer is no longer that simple. Marinette needs to sort herself out, and her feelings for Adrien are everything but sorted.

Marinette’s crush on Adrien is certainly both hilarious and heartbreaking, but it is also, well... deluded, for lack of a better word. Strangely so, in fact, considering its origins. Marinette fell for Adrien the moment he proved her prejudices wrong. She jumped to conclusions about him based on his background (rich, famous, friend of Chloé) and initially refused to even consider otherwise. Acting on Nino’s instruction to “just be yourself, dude”, Adrien showed Marinette that he wasn’t the person she thought he was, and Marinette - well, from the looks of it, she pretty quickly jumped from one extreme to the other. Much as she might know him personally, the boy Marinette serenades is the one on the fragrance ad. The pictures on her walls are cut-outs from fashion magazines. She’s in love with the boy, but she focuses a lot of her attention on the fabricated images of him, rather than the classmate who gave her his umbrella. She conflates the boy in school with the boy wearing the mask of the professional, which of course makes it absolutely no surprise that she won’t even consider him when he’s wearing the mask most unlike his everyday one. No single scene highlights it better than the opening of “Frozer”, where she turns Cat Noir down while eight (8) different ads for “Adrien: The Fragrance” are in the frame. 

We might laugh (or, as I understand is more common, cringe) at Marinette’s speech at Adrien’s “statue” in the wax museum, but no matter how make-believe the tableau was, it was an apt allegory of the real situation: Marinette loves an idea of Adrien constructed in part of her friend in class, in part his well-documented public persona, in part her own delusions of him (the perfect guitarist, of course!). It was cute when Marinette’s universe was the limbo of self-contained monster-of-the-week episodes. It is very, very unhelpful when the save point of status quo is gone. 

There were some internet tears shed when the first S4 teaser showed us Marinette’s room without her photo collection of Adrien. I was honestly more surprised to see the photos still around in the lukanette teaser - I’d have thought they'd be gone after the NYC special. The photos are the physical manifestation of what has been keeping Marinette from being with Adrien for real. She can’t have a real relationship with him before she sees that he’s a real boy, not an airbrushed image come to life. For that to happen, the photos have to go.

“I’m so secretive,” says her role-play version of Adrien in “Animaestro” - the episode where Adrien makes his debut as an actor, ironically playing Himself. But Adrien continually shows Marinette his true self; she just too devoted to her fantasies to notice him. 

Contrast Adrien: “Whoever she is beneath that mask - I love that girl.”

3. PLANT A SEED, PLANT A FLOWER, PLANT A ROSE Let me stress this point: The moment Adrien realises his feelings for Ladybug, he vocalises it. And what he says, is explicitly that it’s not Ladybug he loves, but the girl behind Ladybug’s mask. 

Because of course he knows everything about wearing masks; Adrien Agreste is a boy whose life was the mask of the son his father demands him to be for years before he donned the costume of Cat Noir. Adrien doesn’t just love the amazing superhero, but the girl he knows is somewhere behind the persona - the girl about to break down in tears because she thought herself unworthy of her powers, who pulled herself together and told the evil supervillain exactly where he could shove it before she singlehandedly owned his ass. Where Marinette doesn’t even realise that masks are being worn, Adrien - used to wearing them as he navigates the different stages of his life - considers them to be meaningless. Where Marinette can’t imagine an Adrien who is less than perfect, Adrien is painfully aware that Ladybug is as flawed as all of us. Unlike Marinette, who demonstratively views Adrien and Cat Noir very differently (oh hai thar, “Desperada”), Adrien sees Ladybug and Marinette from a fairly similar perspective, down to explicitly comparing Marinette to Ladybug and having guessed her identity twice. 

This difference in perception isn’t just the result of Marinette’s absurd idolisation of Adrien Agreste, though that definitely is a huge part of it. The fact of the matter is that it took until "Glaciator”, a third into the show’s current run, for Marinette to fully realise that the jokester beside her in every battle is a boy who can love and hope and hurt. As Ladybug, her relationship with him had consisted of the banter as they fight monsters together. This was the first time she saw that Cat Noir is a real boy who exists outside of akuma battles, and it probably isn’t a coincidence that he shows this vulnerability to Marinette, and not to Ladybug. Marinette is a trusted friend; Ladybug is the girl he desperately wants to impress. Marinette might be afraid that Adrien doesn’t like who she is, but Adrien - consciously or not - is putting on a show of what he thinks Ladybug wants him to be. (and well, as of “Truth”...) 

But at the same time as Cat Noir’s persona is clearly a roleplay (”I didn’t think he was her type...”, emphasis mine), Adrien desperately wants Ladybug to see him for himself. Like he loves the girl behind the mask, he wants her to love Adrien. What Adrien needs to realise, is that unlike his father, Ladybug won’t judge him for having “emotions”. Here is the greatest irony of all the layers of irony crossing in the love square: Ladybug already loves him. She fell in love with him because he showed that he’s just as insecure and vulnerable as she sometimes is. 

4. SWING IT, SHAKE IT, MOVE IT, MAKE IT Marinette’s neurotic self-doubt around Adrien is perhaps the longest persisting part of who she was before she became Ladybug. I can’t say whether the story continually stressing this is as an intentional parallel or not, but whatever the case, it does stand as an apt illustration of the mental obstacles Marinette has had to tackle this far in her journey as Ladybug. In essence: Marinette has a history of doubting herself not just as her worth as Marinette, but in fact doubting her very existence as Ladybug. Her story as Ladybug started with her pulled into battle literally because she didn’t know how to get the spots off, giving up on her powers the instant she thought she’d messed up, and only truly claiming the role of Ladybug once she realised that it gave her the power to save the things important to her - first Alya, and then the decency of the city. 

At three seasons in, what little development has been explored in Miraculous has been Marinette’s growth into Ladybug (and its bleak mirror in Chloé’s rise and fall as Queen Bee). This was the entire point of the S1 finale (that is, the story’s beginning), and the culmination of the S3 finale was that there is no going back: Ladybug’s burden now rests inescapably on Marinette’s shoulders. This growth was initially straightforward: Just believe in yourself, and you can be anything! The problem in “Origins” boils down to the fact that Marinette doesn’t believe that she can be Ladybug; she doesn’t take Tikki’s word for it, she doesn’t trust the praise given by Alya, she's ready to quit the instant a critical voice is raised. As will be a recurring event throughout the series, it is Cat Noir who puts her back together: He doesn’t for a second doubt himself, and Marinette trusts him. And when she believes in him who believes in her, she becomes more than she’d ever thought she could be - as Ladybug, but also as Marinette. 

Except, for some reason, in front of Adrien Agreste. He is the actor capable of reducing Marinette to an insecure, self-doubting wreck. If Marinette’s journey is the journey to solid self-confidence, the final boss isn’t Hawkmoth, but the cute boy in front of her in class. 

The S3 finale and the S4 trailers both signal a change of pace: Sitting on what is essentially a box of magical WMDs, Ladybug’s problems are of an entirely different nature than before, and Marinette’s life will never be the same. Already before Master Fu leaves, Marinette grieves about having to “put up a front” and “never being able to be who I truly am”. Marinette’s double life is taking a toll on her, but here, then, is the question: who is it that Marinette “truly is”? 

In a superhero show literally titled “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir”, the answer is a given. In “Origins”, Tikki’s presence and the power of the miraculous transform Marinette both physically and mentally. In the span of a day, the meek and insecure girl of the morning is gone and replaced with the bold and confident heroine. Of course, Marinette is no more “really Ladybug” than Adrien is “really Cat Noir”, but the context of the complaint makes it plain: why on god’s green earth would she complain to Luka that she “can’t be herself” if she were talking about Marinette? Marinette is herself around Luka, to a far greater degree than she has been with Adrien up to this point. The part of Marinette that she has to hide is the literal source of her power and confidence. Marinette can’t go back to being just a normal girl with a normal life, and as of “Feast”, it’s been unquestionably a fact that she wouldn’t do so either, if given the choice.  And we know that she’ll grow up and she’ll grow into her part; we know that Marinette will continue choosing Ladybug. At some point, she’ll have to learn to find the balance between life as Marinette and the duties of Ladybug. What the teasers we’ve got of S4 seems to make clear, is that she can’t do it alone. Her secrets are forcing her to isolate herself from her friends and family, but sharing them would put any recipient in danger. 

And here is the core of why I expect ladynoir to happen before any other side of the Love Square. Because Marinette “can’t be who I really am” Dupain-Cheng is known as who she truly is by one person only.

Cat Noir is the only person who knows Marinette not as just a normal girl with a normal life, but as the superhero devoted to saving the city. And unlike everyone else in Marinette’s life, Cat Noir knows that there is an entirely different side of her. He knows that she carries an immense burden that nobody else in her life knows about. And he knows that there is a girl who is insecure and who doubts and who sometimes gives in to despair - and Cat Noir loves that girl, too. More than either of them know, in fact, because we know that the girl who he loves is also his treasured friend who can make anything happen.

Why are nobody talking about how “Puppeteer 2″ was a microcosm of the current barrel of gunpowder?

Alya told Nino Marinette’s secret

Marinette was Not Happy and Alya denied it ever happened

Nino proved himself very, very bad at keeping said secret from Adrien

Nino’s attempts at covering it up caused Adrien to draw every wrong conclusion he possibly could

Adrien concluded that Marinette wasn’t really his friend and might in fact outright dislike him

Marinette and Adrien’s separate attempts at fixing the situation caused by misunderstandings neither of them were aware the other party had would later be celebrated as the cringiest fourty seconds of television history

Their final reconciliation was technically the first time Adrien told Marinette he’s in love with her, but because Neither Of Them Knows it instead set Marinette down the path towards leaving him

TIL that Adrien in early story concepts walked with a cane and that’s where Cat Noir’s stick comes from. It was dropped because the networks didn’t trust the writers to handle it well. 

Not to go all HTTYD here but like. Post-Hawkmoth showdown. I wouldn’t mind.

do you think there might be a reason the skelebros keep their hands covered? papyrus (according to him) ALWAYS wears gloves while sans has mittens. toby apparently specifically requested that sans's mii fighter costume have mittens instead of the more normal looking hands it was originally going to have. do you think there's a deeper reason behind it, or is just cause an aspect of their character designs since they live in snowdin?

I was unaware Sans wore mittens. I thought only Papyrus covered his hands. It doesn’t help that Sans hides his hands inside his pockets 24/7 either.. . ff

My answer ended up being long (bc of images) so I’m hiding it under a cut. 

But here’s the short answer/summary: I agree that the skelebros are likely wearing gloves/mittens for unspecified reasons. I am still unsure whether Sans is actually wearing mittens, but so far it seems like he is. And I do believe Papyrus when he says he never takes his gloves off. All evidence suggests he doesn’t. 

Toby Fox made a tweet about requesting Sans’s mii-fighter to have “mitten-like” hands. 

Sans was probably gonna have skeletal hands originally, but Toby requested a change. I didn’t think too much about the term “mitten-like” being used to describe San’s hands tbh. 

The tweet can be read 2 ways: Sans either has mitten-ish hands, or Sans is actually wearing mittens. Could go either way in my opinion. 

Game-wise... that could be different.  

Undertale has a simple artstyle. This makes it hard to decipher whether Sans’s battle sprite is actually wearing mittens or not, since all hands generally look like this:

I tried looking through the official art (which Toby said is not canon), and noticed Sans is usually drawn with his hands inside his pockets. A lot. It’s basically his default pose. 

There were a few times where his hands were visible though.  

The Undertale vinyl record has San’s hands look like white mittens. 

His hands do not look like skeletal hands. He is likely wearing mittens here. 

The Undertale orchestra did the same thing. 

In the orchestra artwork, Sans’s hands have no lines that distinguish his fingers apart - something all the other characters have. We can only distinguish San’s thumb from his palm. It is another implication Sans is wearing mittens. 

In these two instances, Sans is wearing white mittens. Since the mittens are white, they are hard to notice. There is a good chance Sans is wearing mittens in the game and it is just hidden by the fact he always hides his hands inside his pockets. 

But there is also, for example Fangamer’s MTT poster, that gives Sans mitten-ish hands: 

Here, San’s hands match the mii-fighter’s hands. So it varies by artist. Either San’s hands resemble mittens, or Sans is covering his hands with gloves/mittens. Hard to tell which is the truth tbh.. 

Okay, now Papyrus. 

Papyrus claims he never takes off his gloves. 

He is telling the truth. 

Papyrus changes his outfit 3x times in the game.

Papyrus will change every aspect of his outfit except for the gloves. He is willing to change out of his battle body, remove his scarf, add headgear, but not remove his gloves.

And monsters acknowledge the fact Papyrus never removes his gloves.

Sans said Papyrus washes his clothes by wearing them in the shower.

Papyrus probably does the same thing for his gloves; wash them by wearing them in the shower. He does wear the gloves with his battle body after all. 

There is also Toriel. In the alarm clock post, she implied Papyrus would NOT remove his gloves if he is given a new pair of mittens to wear. 

Characters are aware Papyrus never takes off his gloves. I don’t think he removes them either. Nothing implies that he would. 

Going back to the original question... I do think there’s a reason for why the skelebros wear gloves/mittens. Besides them being from Snowdin, there is likely another unspecified reason. I mean other characters in the game wear gloves, but it isn’t often mentioned like it is with Sans and Papyrus (especially Papyrus). 

Also Sans and Papyrus are skeletons. They have no skin. Papyrus’s battle body is incapable of protecting him from the cold. I doubt his gloves alone are enough to insulate him.

Other than the gloves being a fashionable item... I have no idea why else Papyrus would wear gloves??? He’s willing to change his entire outfit except for the gloves too. 

And if Sans IS wearing mittens, then that just adds more to the mystery. His default pose hides his hands inside his pockets too. And even then, his mittens would be white and hard to distinguish from his actual hand.. . 

I don’t have answers for why they would cover their hands, but I assume there’s a reason for it (hopefully we get answers in deltarune)..

TL;DR The skelebros are wearing gloves for unspecified reasons. I don’t think it’s just a design choice that can be explained by saying they are from Snowdin. Sans is likely wearing mittens, and Papyrus never takes off his gloves. The fact they cover their hands is brought up too often for the information to be ignored imo.

The government only allows the person working to cross over for quarantine so at the earliest Mish won’t be in Van until tomorrow so he’ll only be able to be in like 2 days of 15.20. We know 19/20 are filming somewhat simultaneously and scene 46 (probably the last scene since most epis have around 42) was already filmed. I’m worried that even if he films part of 20 it’s minimal and not part of the grand finale. The possibility of Cas not getting his toes in the sand with his family just hurts.

What part of “you’re completely lacking the rest of the context of whether that’s a directly experienced story, a relayed story, a zoom call during wife driving story, or any other potential context of that second to the fact that we already know he’s been quarantining in a hotel for weeks” missed you?

I know you guys want really, really, REALLY bad to be upset and imagine worse case scenarios, but he’s /already been quarantining./

And again all of THIS is a huge aside on people not getting how powerful the WB is and how easy it would be to wiggle them in, which again *is not necessary* to approaching the matter because *we don’t even know if Misha was there for the story he retold or if he’s trolling the fuck out of you over something his wife just said the kids did while he was calling her*. 

And again, even with THAT, there would be a total of 4 days total filming at anywhere from 4 to 12 shots per day based on your worst case scenario, so again, I really don’t know why someone is coming to basically lowkey argue through anon just to post sad stuff at me after I showed the many ways this is being blown out of proportion. I’ll say it again: save my posts, if I’m wrong and Misha just totally isn’t in the finale at all, come back in 4 months and Told You So’ed me. Otherwise, like. Seriously, stop insisting on posting negativity at people and doubling down at them when they clearly disagree with you, wtf?

This shit is ENDLESS guys, wave after wave, year after year, upset after upset, panic after panic, and somehow nobody ever catches a clue about it, and it starts all over again every season, every finale, sometimes every episode, and more bafflingly every tweet that people leap several football fields of conclusions in a single step over. Every time. *wHY*

The logic of “WHY DON’T THEY JUST SPOIL ALL THE ENDING STUFF FOR US RIGHT NOW WHILE WE GET SUPER LOUD ABOUT IT” is roughly tantamount to “WHY NOT JUST POST THE SCRIPTS FOR THE ENDING NOWWWWW” and I’m so very very tired of trying to be gentle and logical with everyone. I was gently logical last ask, but this doubling down, I’m not gonna just keep going “Yeah ok pls keep sending me stuff that’s arguing out the side of your mouth and spamming my ask box with things you know I clearly disagree with”

You have a right to feel feelings, hell, you have a right to be sad about ideas. But as much as “it just hurts to think XYZ”, I think there’s an absolute lack of consideration that people spraying their incessant dark takes at people in the middle of a pile of global crisises for the sheer dedication to said dark take is itself one emotional black hole for the people on the receiving end, even if they very confidently disagree with you, it’s e x h a u s t i n g

Imagine being stuck on a loop having ten thousand emo takes being thrown at you even if you have an answer to all of them, but once you answer them all, they loop back over again from different people, and all the people try to argue with you. Doesn’t matter how confident you are, you can and will be depleted of energy and give a damns by the end of it.

Add in that chunks of this fandom try to make it seem like a cardinal sin to post positively in your own space or want to maintain your space as a positive space, while going around and negging on other people’s shit, and calling it positivity policing if they literally don’t want people dropping flaming poo bags on their doorstep, and somehow this has been entirely normalized. Holy fuck I’m tired of this fandom and honestly couldn’t be gladder the show is ending.

If people wanna spend months hurting themselves with things that hurt to think about and feel that’s their prerogative, I can’t control that, but a simple point to ask is if it hurts to think it, why be so dedicated to staying on a specific interpretation that is far from the only viable one? So you... don’t get hurt in several months? So you spend several months choosing to hurt yourself and other people? Sounds self destructive, can’t relate.

So one last time: There is no recent image of Misha with his kids. Misha has posted a picture of his kid with a spatula with no proof it was him that took it. As recently as Aug 19th he was confirmed to be at “someone else’s place” than his own when Yang was talking about quarantine, has had that background for a few weeks (he had the same painting--or painting style, such as a persistently decorated building--behind him Aug 6 and 8 from a different angle), and even implied pre-GISH that he was going to be in vancouver at the end of GISH. His recent streaming is not his house environment, does not match recent images of where his kids last were, we don’t know if he was even there in person for the convo, and even if he was, he could get his kids there if he really needed to. The entire crew has been intentionally cryptic about his location for a damn good reason and that alone should tell you everything, but if it doesn’t, just save these goddamn asks and come back months later if I’m wrong, instead of wasting my time and energy.

So your options are: 

Misha is in a large suite, or rotated suites, in a hotel with extremely stock decor across its rooms or

Misha is malevolently finding copies of mountain art and matching hotel furniture to move around pretending to be in quarantine and getting a politician to help him lie about being with someone else in a machiavellian plan just to fuck with everyone.

QUICK HE TWEETED A PIC OF HIS KID WITH ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BACKGROUND AND POSTED A NO CONTEXT TWEET ABOUT A KID BEING A KID IN THE CAR, SLAM THE BREAKS. 

The quarantine info is just extra, because I’m like 99% sure the kids aren’t even there with him right now. And that he is in fact in Van. But just a little note about how people don’t consider the full spread of potential before going off.

The logical answer to all of this is simple:

Misha went into quarantine only about 2 days behind the other guys (who started aug 4thish), to attend either day 3 or 5 shooting for episode 20 shoots mixed into ep 19 shooting which is why his colors are recently visible on the tape ball THEY ZOOMED IN ON DURING THEIR SONG WHEN HE SAID HE WASN’T ON SET “today” (Aug 20th -- a day they were doing NO EPISODE 20 FILMING UNLIKE THE DAY BEFORE AND THE DAY AFTER), because he’s paid by episode and not by day/hour, and the three stars will be fitted to what costars need flown in for a scene or two; Misha is trolling the fuck out of everyone’s anxiety, either with the kids being legally entered to Canada (unlikely) or by just second hand relaying some silliness that happened while he was calling his wife over the phone bluetooth (likely), or something else in that wheelhouse (likely.) and will be in Van a few more weeks.

The least logical answer to all of this:

In direct conflict with other script leaks earlier this year, Misha came in just to die deadeded in episode 19 instead of 18, and instead his death is the feature in 19, and he’s already shot his scenes and been totally happy with it as a cas ending despite being thrown into the trash the way fans keep imagining because of a random tweet with no physical evidence for the conclusion they jumped to from the tweet, and went home before even episode 19 filming is done, because people want to envision the worst case scenario.

He wasn’t documented in Van/quarantine location until Aug 6. He couldn’t have attended shooting until day 3, by all odds. Like I said, he came a few days behind the others. Almost like, gee, he was aiming to be there for day 3 of filming or something.

if you really think they’re gonna fly Misha out early just to literally film, like, scene 46 of episode 20 or something too as the new argument--I really don’t know what to tell you beyond the fact you’re dedicated to being upset.  Another logical read of this is, as one of the three stars that’s going to have a sizable impact on the final episode, he’s going to need to meet other guest stars that will have a few scenes between 19 and 20, so days 3 and 5 probably have someone like Billie or Bobby or some other character that needs to be in both in the related scenes so they only have to be on site for one day of filming instead of weeks as opposed to the core stars. Take note several of the 28PartWhatevers are on the multifilming days, for example. Do some detective work. Figure this out past initial kneejerk when you literally know the entire cast is fucking with you at this point.

Whoever’s in 15.19 28pt4 and 20 also needed to be around for a Misha shot for 15.20 shot 46 which will be hella close to the end. Bet your ass. Be that Billie or Mary or what, I don’t know. Hell, maybe they got JDM to show up for one final shot, we don’t fucking KNOW. Same for 15.19 28pt7 and 8, the fact 28pt4 was shot AGAIN, and possibly 23pt2 with possible overlaps of 15.20 11, 12, 43.

Coincidentally, day 3 only had like 4 shots while we do know Misha had availability at his quarantine spot from PST onward. Of course, that would make sense, if the 15.20 scene 46 shot being listed first on the board means they did it first and Misha was home before lunch. Hell, his hair was still Cas-styled on his time on with Yang, as opposed to “I kinda brushed my hair today”. Light scruff, check, but full beard, nope. 

Read as: That would mean he was filming for late/final shots of 20, not 19.

FFVII REMAKE SPOILERS

Okay, I’ve given it a few days since the official launch. I have to give my thoughts on this game. Don’t read if you are still playing through, as I WILL be talking about the ending and some things that diverged from the original game.

First off, this game was so good in so many ways.

I was worried about the gameplay, because I’m not really an Action RPG gamer. But the gameplay was smooth, fun and well planned. I played the game on easy, so I could focus on getting through the story, but I WANT to play the next difficulty because I feel like I will enjoy the challange.

Then there was the graphics. Oh. My. God. This game is SO BEAUTIFUL. The scenery (even though it’s not always supposed to be beautiful, it’s so intricate and detailed and has such a scale and world building to it), the characters, the battle animations, the attacks...even the grotesque monsters look so well done. We KNOW the FF series is always known for it’s stunning visuals, but they really outdid themselves. And, yeah, there are a few texture bugs that’ll probably be patched at some point, but even things like the lighting and the facial expressions and body language...it’s all SO GOOD. If this was a movie they would be fighting for art direction awards.

But the part they totally blew my expectations away on, everyone’s expectations, is the character and story development.

When they said they expanded Midgar they really, really did. But not by senselessly bloating it out. Everything they did led to making you more and more invested in the events. Spending more time with Team Avalanche meant that you cared about Biggs, Wedge and Jessie. Spending time talking to the NPCs in Sector 7 meant that you really, really wanted to stop that plate from coming down. And every time you spent time with one of the main characters, you felt like you knew and understood them better than you ever did.

By the time we got to the plate collapse I actually felt GUILTY for doing side quests and looking for treasure etc. Because it felt like I’d failed the people in the slums (even though, obviously, taking your time doesn’t change the story). And they’d done SUCH A GREAT JOB in making the slums feel real.

Now...before I go into characters and relationships, let me be clear and upfront. I always have and always will ship Cloti. But I don’t hate Aerith. I never actually played her much in the original game (I was spoiled for her death and was very pragmatic in not wanting to waste my EXP). This game is my first real taste of Aerith as a character and not a lost friend, so I’ve loved getting to know her.

Let me get the Cloti talk out of the way, first.

HOLY SHIT.

I’m sure there are fans of other pairings who won’t agree, but most people are in agreement. Cloud and Tifa got a LOT of ship fuel in this game.

From the start, Tifa is the one person Cloud isn’t standoffish around. He tries but within a few minutes of them teamed up in Sector 7 they are gently teasing each other in banter, and he is SOFT AS HELL towards her. Since this comes directly after the opening mission (where he and Barret are openly antagonistic to each other and he barely tolerates the rest of the team) it’s very obvious. As the chapter goes on he also listens to her and offers support and encouragement, which is completely different to the rest of his interactions thus far.

As the game goes on this difference continues, even when he starts to open up to others. Despite the fact that he has encouraging and impressed battle dialogue with Tifa and seems to respect her ability to take care of herself, the game has him constantly protective of her. They also touch each other A LOT (both initiated by Tifa and Cloud) and far more so than anyone else. There are some super charged moments between them, too (the train jump scene alone has enough sexual tension to start a baby boom) and there are several gratuituous scenes of them grabbing at each other in danger and showing extreme concern both physically and emotionally (and more of Cloud being SOFT AS HELL when it comes to Tifa). Plus their optional scene is super romantically suggestive (with the hug and his concern for her emotions and the hints at their shared history).

I could spend so much time going over all of their interactions and little moments because WOW. But I wanna go over the other relationships.

Cloud and Barret have such amazing development through the game. They start out as super antagonistic to each other. Barret doesn’t trust him and Cloud doesn’t care. But Barret is a softy at heart and he can’t help but soften up a little. By the time of the second reactor mission they start to tolerate and appreciate each other a little. But by the time they are fighting to save the plate? At that point Cloud is invested in the Team and Barret knows he’s a good fighter and maybe a good guy. The optional scene (I haven’t triggered it but was linked to a video) they have is such a good one where is shows how far they’ve come (Barret unloading his thoughts and emotions onto Cloud and feeling comforted by having spoken with him and Cloud willing to listen patiently and willing to be part of the Team).

Barret and Tifa have a rather familial relationship (Barret is super protective of his team and you can see this really early on) and their mutual respect and care for each other is wonderful. They know each other so well and are so emotionally open to each other.

Cloud and Aerith start out with him being pretty standoffish and barely tolerating her. But when she encourages him to save Tifa from Don Corneo they start to bond and their friendship starts to develop.

The slow build to Cloud finally sharing a high five (a few ‘how do you human’ moments with Avalanche, Tifa and Aerith and then misqueing one with Aerith before finally getting one right) was so damned adorable and is one of my fav moments!

I mean, I don’t ship them (and with the SHEER VOLUME of Cloti moments plus the increased hints towards Aerith’s relationship with Zack I don’t feel like I’m supposed to) but I am 100% behind their friendship. Also...Aerith knows how to flirt with Cloud and then back off when he’s uncomfortable...unlike Jessie who was well out of order several times. She is cool.

But talking about friendships I am 100% behind and very much grateful to Squeenix for giving us?

Hello Aerti!

DAMN these girls got a lot of moments together and plenty of chance to interact and develop a bond and I LOVED IT. Cloud was totally a third wheel to them, most of the time, and so he should be. Thank you for giving us girls being friends and not letting a man get between them. Tifa and Aerith protecting and defending each other felt so good after seeing so much toxicity spread around by the less stable parts of both ship fandoms.

Between letting Tifa and Aerith spend time together and having Barret help Aerith out of Shinra Tower it felt like Squeenix are trying to spend more time on developing Aerith’s relationships with the whole team. And I LOVE that because it’s needed before we get to THAT moment in future games. Nanaki doesn’t get much time with the others but it’s nice to see the starts of the bonds forming.

As much as I love shipping I love one thing just as much. FOUND FAMILY TROPES. And I want the next game to definitely go down this route for the entire Squad.

As for the characters individually...thank god we finally have the (not quite) real Cloud back. The emo fanon contruction is gone and we have our awkward, dorky, snarky boy back. I love him. He tries his best to be cool and all, but he’s a good boy at heart and it leaks out all over the place.

Same with Barret. Soft Team Dad hidden under a gruff guy who tries to come off as all tough and deadly. His moments regarding Marlene were super sweet and, like before, are such a contrast to his ‘big bad activist’ self that it’s great to see him in both stages and the inbetween.

Tifa was ~chef’s kiss~. A little playful but also a little shy. Full of compassion but not a pushover. Tough as nails, when needed, but also emotionally open.

Aerith was super playful and fun. But there is an undercurrent of sadness and insecurity around her and there is a lot of speculation that she may Know Things. Possibly even her future death.

We don’t get much of Nanaki or Reeve but I can’t wait for more from them (in Reeve’s case, through Cait Sith who got a small cameo during the plate collapse) in the next game. It looks like we might get Nanaki being a proper teenage wolf kitty which is gonna be great!

Team Avalanche were all pretty great, except for Jessie’s outrageous flirting going totally over the line...Cloud was very clear with his refusals but she still didn’t back off and was a step over the borderline of harrassment. That being said, other than the flirting, the team had some great moments. Jessie’s concern over how much of Reactor 1 was her fault and her GUILT was amazing. Biggs and Wedge, too, felt real and dimensional. Cloud building a small bond with the three of them (THEY GOT HIS FIRST TRUE AND BRIGHT SMILE) was so good and made the plate fall EVEN WORSE (despite the possibility of survival for them).

But now...the ending.

Oh boy.

There is a lot of talk and speculation about the ending and I’m sure it’ll be a hot topic until the next game comes out.

There are a few things it could mean on a scale of ‘barely anything will change but this means that Squeenix have given themselves some wiggle room with future events’ all the way up to ‘everything is gonna be totally different to the original game from here on out’.

Everyone is mad at the thought of the next game going in the latter direction and it’s the biggest drawback of the game to most. The one thing holding them back from thinking this game a perfect adaptation of the original game.

Personally, I think that the game is not going to change that much. I DON’T think Zack is still alive (the game was very clear to show us that Cloud still had the buster sword...so much so as to equip it on him during the cut scene after Zack’s appearance, even if it wasn’t his equiped weapon...Cloud probably wouldn’t have the sword if Zack was alive). I do think the Sephiroth we saw could be from the future. I do think the game will mostly keep to the same beats and events but that certain things will change in execution in order to keep some element of surprise and suspense. The biggest of things being that I think Aerith will still die, but not in the same set of events.

Overall, this game was utterly fantastic in almost every way. As a fan of the original I was so, so happy with what they did. The production team should be so very proud of the effort and detail they put into this game. The love they have for the original was obvious in the presentation.

10/10 would and will play again!
