Everybody’s all gung-ho for practical effects, but when *I* want to light someone fire everyone is all concerned about soot on the walls and catching the synthetic fiber rug on fire and the practical effect gets shut down.
Where is the justice?

I absolutely adore the Yashica’s rendering and the way it shoots. Everything about it just feels so intuitive despite being a 50 year old TLR.

On December 10, 2023, Randy Greenstein and I were on set where a scene from June Daguiso’s project “Aswang Part 2” (the follow-up to “Aswang 2022”) was filmed. Randy and I are executive producers on the project. The filming location was in Jeffersonton, VA. We played participants in a town hall meeting, and we had lines.

Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.
This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.

the biggest thing i'm getting from neilman's ask box is that most people really don't know how making a film works. i mean it's totally fair and normal, but as a person who has worked in film and on set for a few years i just completely forget about it every single time and am baffled over and over again by the questions people ask.
it's really like that meme about experts in something having a completely skewed frame of reference for what is base-level knowledge, just playing out in my head with major confusion 5 times a day

After a long road, we come at last to the end. Thank you everyone for your love, your support, your comments (I’m making a scrapbook of all your comments, both public and private, for when I have hard days this winter because holy shit they were uplifting), all the amazing ideas you guys sparked for next season, and for some of you, thank you for your participation. This was my first page-to-screen project and it would never have gotten here without you.
Now we will see if there are any film festivals interested in LWL…
