To begin, to make this easy let us establish this Dragon Slayer is an alpha. If you did not know you might suspect he was a beta with how he is so careless and goofy. Not your stereotypical stern tough guy alpha.

Natsu doesn’t care if you see him as an alpha or not, and he doesn’t care if someone doesn’t believe he’s an alpha. His status as a dragon slayer and member of Fairy Tail is his pride not something decided by birth or gender. Gender, who cares about that, are you strong or funny or nice? Thus goes his priorities.

So needless to say he’s not really into the whole, he has to court you by rules xyz due to his secondary gender. He’s going to court you how he believes a dragon slayer and guild member (because you will be adopted into Fairy Tale if you're not in it already) should be treated.

It might have taken him a long while to realize he wants to court you though. At first he just knew he liked being around you, and isn’t that enough? Spending life going on adventures and laughing together are most important to him. 

Once or twice he feels like frowning or growling when he sees someone get really close to you. Not just proximity wise because he too is a skinship with all the friends kind of person. But seeing someone attempt to get close to you romantically or emotionally and nudge him aside and out of frame? He doesn’t understand why but it burns him up inside.

I hate to say it but he tries to train it off, or just cling onto you and insist on starting a job right now. No he hasn’t picked one and yes it might be midnight but it's the perfect time to start a quest! No really-

He may go and confide in Master or Mira Jane. He knows he may get teased for it but he can’t figure these emotions out, and it's imperative to him to know because it's becoming stronger. His anger (its jealousy), his thoughts about you, why your scent is smelling sweeter and sweeter to him, all of it.

Bless this poor boy's soul because he really couldn’t figure out why he was “hungry” when he smelled your scent. He thought he needed to eat more food or fire because we don't eat friends. Thankfully they explained it's a physical and emotional longing to be closer with you.

This was not his first birds-and-bees talk but it was the one that made him realize he wanted you, and without them having to say more Natsu realized he wanted you as his mate.

Thankfully he does know from seeing others do it, although he thought it stupid at the time, the basics on how to court someone

His heart cannot take this he's so jittery and happy as he bounds up to you, if it's night time he may have broken in but that's okay! To hand you some hand picked flowers and a snack. He’s pretty forward about this, not subtle on starting the courting process.

Lucy has helped him go shopping several times for you, blankets for your now shared nest. Food gifts galore.

No seriously everywhere you go, and you go to all places together now unless you ask for some space. He gets you food.

You looked away for two seconds and he disappeared. Don't worry he’ll be back in ten minutes with something scrumptious for you. 

If he has to go on a mission without you, or if you decide to take some time to yourself, expect a small little sweet or scone to be placed on your desk or in your hands. They are often a shade of pink, or dragon themed so you’d think of him.

Not huge on you wearing his clothes, with the exception of his scarf. He adores seeing you in it before he started courting you because he hadn’t realized yet, now he is obsessed wrapping it around you both as you cuddle. Or do anything for that matter.

Natsu did realize it's not practical while walking only after clotheslining you once…or twice…

He is super attentive to your needs, perhaps not romantically, but he knows you’re hungry before you do. 

Shivering? Not around him he knew to warm you before you knew you were chilled.

Tired, and he somehow has drafted you for a cuddle and nap session or has told the other guild members to go away so you can nest in a corner where he can keep an eye and make sure you are safe

It all stems from his fighting experience funnily enough. He’s gotten really really good at reading body language because of it and he has yours down to an art form.

Natsu is strong and independent despite his love of skinship and kinship. However he will always be longing to be just a little bit closer to you and his gifts sometimes reflect as much.

Never in his life before would he have wanted to buy a massage, but here he is getting vouchers for couples massages. He heard about it from Elfman and it was a lightbulb moment.

Small little quirky dates to places to do things together, like making matching earrings. Or a food tour of a town together, quality time is his utmost number one gift and treasure. It's the best thing you can give him too, volunteer to spend time together and he is over the moon.

This goes without saying but Natsu is above all else, protective. You are strong or weak, it doesn't change this, he will fight god and anyone who looks down on you or tries to hurt you. Even if it's a guildmate in a pre ordained face off, someone will need to hold him back. You are too precious to him to risk losing, so please stay by his side forever.

"I suppose they have," the Queen spoke, a reference to Lady Elinor's remark. "I have noticed a chill upon the air in recent days, though." It was no lie. Laira had felt it in the sweet dawning hours of the morning and deep into the midnight hours of the night. Never the faint, whispering brush of a cool breeze off the sea, but a merciless breath stealing cold that swept down and chilled her to the bone.

It wreaked of death... of doom.

"We shall hope such a chill does no damage to the blooming gardens," Laira continued, leading the girls down a winding set of steps. The path they set themselves upon would lead into the heart of her gardens. "Young plants are so susceptible to the cold. Roses, especially," she continued, sparing a mere glance over her shoulder to the girls at her back. "It takes so little to snuff the life from them."

The lilt of her voice was pleasant, her words easy. Yet, Laira knew how such a statement would be twisted. She knew how it would be received.

Turning the last bend along her garden path, Laira searched the winding hedgerows for a silent shadow, one that had taken to prowling after her no matter her destination. Though the Queen could not see her, Moone's presence was a calming one, lingering just beyond the edges of her mind. She was near.

Soft voices brought her attention back before her, catching sight of Lady Leonette and Helaena. Laira had tasked Helaena with seeking out Lady Leonette. Her sister had a softer way about her, a kinder tone and sweeter personality. Helaena remained a dragon, though. She was no less cunning, no less deadly.

"It seems as though we have additional guests to join us, sweetlings," Laira spoke to the girls, nearing the gazebo where Lady Leonette and Helaena already sat upon cushioned seats about a table. There was a plate of fresh fruit and cheese set between them alongside a silvered tea set.

When Helaena glanced up and noticed her approach, her mouth turned upward into a sweet smile. She rose but a moment later, coming to Laira and the girls at her back.

"Sister," she spoke, reaching to loop her arm through Laira's own. "Lady Elinor. Lady Donna." She looked to both girls and then back to Laira. "Come and sit. Lady Leonette was telling me of Cider Hall and the apple harvests."

Laira followed at Helaena's beckoning, sitting at her sister's side. "I sent for refreshments from the kitchen," the Queen spoke, giving a smile to Lady Leonette. "I hope you have been well, Lady Leonette. Has your morning sickness become more tolerable?"

Lady Leonette's answering smile was timid. "A bit, Your Grace. Your concern is most kind." Then, she looked to Donna and Elinor. "I am glad to see you both out and enjoying the day."

Elinor kept a tight grip on Donna's hands, a grip that Donna returned. Before Elinor would have swung their joined hands back and forth, this time their arms remained locked by their sides, both of them shuffling to catch up to the Queen, but always staying a few steps behind her.

Donna had not been outside of her room much, even know, panic began to grip her heart at the thought of going outside. Unbidden, images of bursting into flames forced their way into her thoughts. She did not understand why such images haunted her.

"The days have been so pleasant as of late," Elinor agreed in a forced cheery tone, but her voice was enough to snap Donna from her waking nightmares. The redhead glanced to the side, catching her cousin's worried gaze, but Donna could only offer a grateful smile. "Lavender should be in full bloom, right cousin?" Elinor prompted Donna, who winced at having to speak. She licked her lips, wetting them before answering in a soft voice, "along with the heirloom roses and snapdragons."

"Perhaps we can get some indoor plants," Elinor continued prattling along, an annoyance but also a relief. Donna's smile was a weak one, but a smile was a smile in Elinor's book. The plants were for Donna's sake, for Elinor killed all plants she ever tried to cultivate.

Nevertheless, the dread that something was wrong would not go away, no matter how much Donna wanted to focus on her cousin. She couldn't help fearing that the Queen had something planned for them.

In a medieval world, dragons are creatures who cannot tap into their magic without a conduit. This conduit is a human, and creating a magical bond will unlock both of their magical potential. Bonds are not perfect, but the more drastic difference in magical potential; the more injury to the one with less magic, mental tax on the one with more. They share magic, their minds merged. With too much magic, one being can be fried from the inside.

A magical surge occurs when a bond happens. It can be small or big, depending on magical power.

Dragons can see deeply into souls, but especially humans. They can see the good, the bad and the flaws of someone from one sniff and glance. They live from 600-800 years, beginning the process of dying at 600. They are wise, patient and noble beings.

Humans can detect dragons magic potential, and dragons can show them their potential. A single sniff can see through the soul, but a deeper sniff and more eye contact paired with more focus detects magical potential and further insight into the soul.

Dragons are titled after their size, magic potential & abilities. There are three classifications. Generally, size does not indicate more magical power- but a bigger size is better for combative abilities. Small dragons do not have as much magic, though and tend to bond at adulthood when they are fully grown after 50 years.

Dragons are given names based off their personalities at birth. One name, followed by clan title.

Tri-Dragonic and Human National Alliance is the managing body. Their duties centre around keeping track, training and managing all magic users- ranging from measuring dragons who pop up all the way to investigating large power surges. They cover the laws around it; if a power surge causes major damage and there is evidence to show they may not know, they do not have to pay for damage.

-National Legacy Day is a day of celebration and debate involving fairs with shows of power in a parade of packs or tribes local to the area. There's debate and even official voting on local dragon-human legislation or law by the government commonly, since it's the largest gathering in the world. It's also a huge fund raiser due to the sheer amount of activities and workshops which can be added; tribes travel in from the woods consistently every year.

To go, there's two ways:

The Higher Power Conference is a conference only those of higher power are invited to, due to the issues mattering most to them. They get special areas and passes to avoid them potentially interrupting parades and overstimulation- plus, they are higher targets for assassinations. There is a certain minimum power level one must reach to attend; last-minute passes can be achieved.

A lower powered citizen can attend normally, instead going into the crowds and looking at the festivities and parade.

As a rule, larger dragons must remain on the rooftop and balcony spaces made for them. They cannot be on the ground for more than a few minutes to gather something from their partner in very populated areas.

Queue areas for food and such must be left vacant; there's quite a big area outlined.

V: And Everybody Says They Know Better; And Maybe They’re Right - Non-Blair Witch AU - Ellis didn’t go to the forest to look for Peter because Bullet got sick after stealing a piece of pizza with onion on it. He made it because Ellis took him to the vet immediately, but he missed going to the search party. Lane and Talia never went with the group to the woods because of Lane's father interfering and making them late.

V: I Still Felt Real Depressed But I've Got Plenty Of Other Things To Spend My Time - Fix-It AU - Ellis reasons with the witch and manages to undo a lot of the damage to those he cared about. As long as they remain in Black Hills Forest, he is allowed to have Emmett and Carver around. He spends a lot of time with them and calls Jess whenever he has a signal. Lane does not become possessed due to Ellis' relationship to the Witch. She takes pity on him, but cannot let him go, so he remains with Ellis and the others.

V: Sometimes The Short End Of The Stick Is The Sharpest - Becoming Carver AU - Ellis destroyed all of the witch's sigils and eventually became Carver. He is a gentler Carver and is still depressed and guilty. He hates what he's done and craves death much of the time. All he wants is his freedom.

V: Hey Would It Be So Bad If I Stayed? I'm Just A Ghost Out Of His Grave - Ghost!Ellis AU - As a ghost, Ellis haunts the woods and the surrounding area. He is joined by the other dead in the forest and is often subjected to the witch's desires and whims. He spends a lot of time with her and the other ghosts in the forest.

Okay, that's an idiosyncratic assortment of dragons, but I can't say that if I made a list like this it wouldn't be even more idiosyncratic. The one question I have is, why did you leave out half of D&D's true dragons? I get not adding obscure ones from the Draconomicon or other sourcebooks, but what about white dragons, or most of the metallic ones? (You got the most important one, though.)

Limiting this list to dragons which I recognize and know/remember well enough to form a coherent opinion about:

Explanations below the cut.

Gold Dragon: When I, a dragon-obsessed middle schooler, first laid eyes on the gold dragon in the D&D 3.5 Monster Manual, I was entranced.

It blends elements from East Asian and European dragons, plus some unique touches of its own, into something which felt unique yet quintessentially Draconic. It can breathe fire, it can breathe underwater, it has ocean palaces and can assume human form, its toxic breath saps the strength from your limbs, it has borderline divine supernatural abilities, its wings blot out the sun.

I cannot evaluate this objectively, nor do I want to. It's a core memory.

Kaido: A much more recent dragon who I wrote a whole post about. (Which I bumped up the queue specifically for your convenience. Come to think of it, Kaido hits a lot of the same beats as the gold dragon. He's a really well-designed dragon who happens to sorta fit the gold-dragon-shaped hole some semi-anonymous WotC artist carved in my heart. (I assume it was done by one of the 25 artists credited here, but Baator if I know which one.)

Prehistoric Dragon: A sufficiently plausible yet distinct dragon, exactly what the project calls for.

Tohru: She's simultaneously a fun, silly maid and an absurdly powerful engine of destruction. I believe the technical term is "gap moe"? Also, I watched the first season of Dragon Maid in an early phase of anime-fan-ness. It feels weird to call something I watched as an adult "nostalgic," but I've been an adult for a while.

Toothless: I was growing out of the target demographic for this kind of movie when it aired, and I'm really not a cat person, and Toothless is mostly a basic-bitch European dragon with a nicer personality. But I recognize that Toothless is very good at being something I am personally not interested in.

Seath: Cool design, neat story, and ties directly into the lore for Dark Souls dragons.

Dragon Tales dragons: Ranked based on the vibes I get when I try to remember the long-lost years of the early oughts.

Gaping Dragon: It's ranked this high purely for how unique its design is. It's a withered husk of a dragon that knows only hunger, and its entire body was reshaped to feast more efficiently.

Tiamat (D&D): Not even close to a faithful interpretation of her namesake, but cool nonetheless. Her design works a lot better whenever WotC rolls back the sourcebooks that include new types of true dragons, reducing it to the basic ten. I wonder what she'd be like if she had a head for every variety of evil true dragon ever published in an official D&D product...?

Slifer the Executive Producer: Cool design. I watched the Battle City arc before I really got into dragons, so the endless coils were unique. Even now, the double mouths make it stand out among the countless other winged serpents. (The forelimbs don't hurt, either.) More importantly, Slifer's unique card-game gimmick lead to the most memorable Duel Monsters game in the entire anime.

Beowulf's dragon: We've gotta respect the classics. This nameless dragon is probably the most recent common inspiration of all fire-breathing dragons in the world, including my top five dragons Sabertoothwalrus decided to include.

Tiki: East Asia's dragons are more like benevolent gods than the scary animals or demonic beings of Europe's folklore. Tiki fits this role straightforwardly, despite her design evoking European dragons. That's neat! It's also neat that her immortality lets her show up in multiple games set millennia apart. I hope we get one so far in the setting's timeline that she becomes old even by dragon standards, like Bantu or...um...some of the evil dragons from earlier games? Okay, yeah, manakete mostly exist to be immortal magical maidens, but it's still possible that Fire Emblem could include an immortal magical crone.

Shenron: Pure presentation. Shenron is a bog-standard East Asian divine dragon, but he's an impressive divine dragon. To commune with him, you need to gather seven magical orbs scattered across the globe. Summoning him darkens the sky with stormclouds. His body stretches eternally, constantly in motion. His growls are like thunder, his eyes like fire. The Dragon Balls lose their mythic luster over time, but Shenron doesn't (mostly because his appearances for the most mundane wishes are kept brief).

Black dragon: Out of the chromatic dragons, its design is the most iconic. It's a creature of death and decay, living in stinking swamps, and its head looks like a monstrous ox skull.

Red Death: Ecologically, the most interesting dragon on this list. Design-wise, it's trying to be a weird version of a European dragon instead of being something novel.

Zippleback: The two heads that contribute differently to fire-breathing are the most interesting dragon concept in the original HTTYD film, the only one I have clear memories of. If I cared enough to rate the other HTTYD dragons, they'd probably be somewhere in D-tier.

Blue dragon: It's not just a dragon. It has a distinctive horn on its face, and its habitat and habits are just remarkable enough to stick around in my memory. Though I think some brass dragon traits might have slipped in there...?

Devon & Cornwall: As an adult, I recognize that two bickering sibling heads who need to learn to get along are not that original, and that Devon and Cornwall are in fact a pretty bad example of that trope. But I didn't recognize either of those when I saw Quest for Camelot as a kid, and it's one of the DVDs my brother and I played a lot on long car trips. And their song is also bad, but it's catchily bad, at least if you watched it at the right age.

Blue Eyes White Dragon: If Kaiba didn't love his three special pieces of cardboard enough to keep printing Duel Monsters cards that made it better, BEWD would not have made C tier. But there are a lot of cards that do neat stuff with BEWD, so I can overlook how bland it looks and how it has no more depth than an ace of spades.

Dragon (Shrek): The one Shrek movie my family had on DVD was Shrek 2, which barely features Dragon. But I like what I remember about her, and the guardian monster falling in love with the animal sidekick is a good bit.

Nicol Bolas: I never engaged with the narrative-fiction side of Magic: the Gathering enough to get more than a rough sketch of who Nicol Bolas is. There's a lot about him that sounds neat, but a lot of it also sounds like it could get annoying if it was written poorly.

Momonosuke: I'm about a third of the way through the Wano Country arc. At the moment, Momonosuke not only feels like a glorified extra, but he's barely spent any time as a dragon. He's just a kid who's theoretically important to conflicts he has barely played any part in. I'm only rating him this high because I expect both of those things to change in the next hundred chapters. He's got basically the same Devil Fruit as Kaido, after all.

Green dragon: Mid. Its visual design is more or less tied with red dragons for the most generic of D&D's true dragon starter set, and while its habitat has the potential to set it apart, it has a ton of overlap with the black dragon. I'd rate different editions' green dragons differently depending on how well they distinguish themselves from black dragons, and 3.5's are perhaps the worst in that regard.

Porunga: Okay, he's unique. You can see some similarities with Shenron, such that he's clearly the same kind of being. But since he's the dragon of an alien world, he looks alien. Barely like a dragon at all. He's unique. I just...don't...like it. I don't like the design. It's "alien" by way of humanity, and it's kind of ugly.

Red dragon (Dungeon Meshi): It stands out from similar dragons by virtue of not having wings (flight being a rare draconic trait in Dungeon Meshi) and the ways its corpse is used.

Scorchio: It's kinda cute, and I remember liking it as a kid, but I really do not now. But it's not like Neopets was supposed to appeal to thirty-year-olds.

Game of Thrones dragons: Drogon clings to the bottom of C-tier because he does stuff. He has a distinct identity. The others, not so much. At best, they're "the dragon X human character(s) rode".

Saphira: By far the hardest to rate. My first impulse was to put it in F-tier due to association with the first book I was ever embarrassed to have liked when I was younger, but Saphira herself isn't that bad. The psychic-dragon-riders thing is derivative, but it's uncommon, and it was really neat when I read it. Her personality and interactions with Eragon also make her way more interesting than anything below C-tier. I gave Devon and Cornwall a boost for nostalgia, so I guess I should do the same for Saphira. Even if I have to dig through a thicker layer of cringe to find the nostalgia.

Mountain dragon: My least favorite dragon from the documentary. It looks bland, combining a stock European dragon with the blandest characteristics of modern reptiles.

Super Shenron: I had complicated feelings about the Super Dragon Balls, back when Team Four Star was posting enough that I cared about the Dragon Ball franchise. By now, though, they've collapsed into simpler feelings. Super Shenron and the Super Dragon Balls could have been cool, but nearly every time they had to make a decision about them, the most obvious and least interesting option was chosen. It's true for their visual design, for their abilities and story utility, for their goddamn names. On the bright side, the first time it was summoned looked cool.

White dragon (not included): Its head-crest makes it a bit more distinctive than green or red dragons, but not much. And its personality isn't much better; it's closer to a dumb animal than D&D's other true dragons, but that makes it more like generic European dragons.

Winged Dragon of Ra: In terms of visual design, it's a mess. This is appropriate, because its mechanics and plot utility are also messy. It does whatever the plot needs it to to make the Battle City climax work the way it's supposed to.

Red dragon (D&D): The most boilerplate generic true dragon in D&D. I admit that D&D needed a boilerplate generic European dragon in the mix, but that doesn't make the dragon itself any better. It's the template which other dragons distinguish themselves from.

Red-Eyes Black Dragon: I do not remember much about this card.

Harry Potter dragons: Derivative, like most things in Harry Potter. Also tainted by association with JK Rowling. Norbert (or Norwegian ridgebacks in general) might have made low C-tier, though.

Banshee: Tainted by association with a disgustingly mid film. The design was kinda neat, I guess.

13: Tainted by disappointment. I was excited for the Straw Hats to fight dragons, but the first one went down like a chump, and also that's the only dragon on the island if you don't count Momonosuke. Boo!

Hey there peeps—Do you like cryptids, dark humor, and urban fantasy? Then read on for some exciting news from Painting Dragon Feathers!

(It’s a slightly long read, so feel free to skip down to the cryptid part)

As some peeps may already be aware if you crossed paths with me at these last couple of summer conventions, I have decided to step back and take a sabbatical from conventions until summer 2024. I love doing shows, meeting new people inspired by their fandoms, and admiring all your cool cosplays—but with a full convention schedule, most of my creating time was dedicated to restocking my EXTERMELY popular Poke’Terrariums and other creature terrariums. While I do continue to enjoy honing my diorama skills making them, especially with highly creative commission requests, I was, frankly, getting burned out a bit with making almost solely Poke’Terrariums; as the best-sellers and the ones putting bread on my table, they were my highest priority for convention crafting.

THANK YOU ALL for some of the best cons I’ve had this past year—Katsucon, Scifi Valley Con, Otakon, and Momentocon all broke record sales for us! Your enthusiasm and encouragement of my works, whether by taking home pieces or just compliementing both my fanart and originals have given me the confidence and support to regroup and turn my focus on to some exciting new projects over the next few months:

1: I will continue tackling all commissions I received at the summer shows. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your support by commissioning me to make you some amazing terrariums from your requests! I cannot express my gratitude enough as these commissions will help support the Painting Dragon Feathers studio during the break from conventions.

Poke’Terrarium commissions will reopen online to the public once I’ve wrapped up my queue from conventions, which at this point, will probably be very late in 2023 or early 2024. In the meantime, existing stock is still available at the Painting Dragon Feathers online shop—with some new tarot decks coming in soon—and a whole bunch of other types of commissions from tattoo design to book illustration to character cards/sheets are currently available.

2: Since I’ve gotten into 3D printing, I plan on learning digital sculpting so I can sculpt and 3D print some new original creatures for new kinds of art pieces, mythozoological speciemens, and terrariums.

3: Finish unpacking boxes and setting up my studio from moving, and finishing off a couple of other house projects—we’ve been living without ceiling trim LIKE HEATHENS. There has also been some stalling on unpacking thanks to some surprise water issues in the studio space recently, but it should hopefully be resolved soon.

4: I wanna make a new panel or two, specifically about how to write/create a great villain. Cause sometimes it’s good to be bad.

5: Revaluate and restructure my social media presence a bit. I want to have more of a work/life/social media balance with more focus on creating time, and with so many corners of the internet kind of on fire, and my darn instagram getting hacked and stolen, it’s been kindof a mess….I’m considering setting up a newsletter for direct, periodic updates, including—

I am currently finishing what should be the final draft for my young adult cryptid novel, CRYPTOZOO.

What is CRYPTOZOO about? Here’s the elevator pitch:

“The creatures of the X-FILES meets the 4th wall wit of DEADPOOL as a plucky Chupacabra searches for her missing Sasquatch father. Reluctantly teaming up with their mutual drinking buddy, the Jersey Devil, they must masquerade as humans in New York City, where troubling clues and prophecies from the Mothman hint the missing Sasquatch may have fallen into the clutches of cryptid hunters.”

I received some great professional feedback from freelance editor Lorin Oberweger, and after some extensive reworkings of the outline (which admittedly took a bit longer than anticipated since I have been moving house and dealing with other major life changes) I am sitting down to rewrite and polish the story. Once I get the story all wrapped up, line-edited, and print-worthy, my goal is to have physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks available by Scifi Valley Con 2024. Maybe even some CRYPTOZOO/Cryptid-themed merch as well. *fingers crossed* As potential book readers and cryptid lovers, let me know what kind of goodies you’d like to see.

I also intend to make some cool book trailers as I progress in the project, so this neat little animation above was me experimenting with Procreate and Videoleap. Day 6

After defeating the Grafted King and his pet, the world feels so open. As if there are no challenges I cannot overcome

And so, I spend the entire time in the same castle as before! Heck yeah! After all, the castle has SO many nooks and loops and chances to hide things.

Which it did. It hid a lot LOT of death. Turn a corner, giant wielding a sword. Go around another corner, flaming AND exploding crossbow bolts to the face. Run away from that with a fractured rib and punctured lung only to be finished off by yet another one around the corner.

Just when I had thought I had conquered the castle by defeating its ruler, I find myself more fearful of its denizens. Fearful of what other traps they’ve laid around each corner.

Eventually I find myself approaching a tower. Then a flaming pillar. I hurry to it to gaze at the flame and find its secrets. Having been taught to seek the flame when in the realm of the moose spirit I knew there must be something here.

Indeed there was. An elevator that I had walked over and past.

So I wait. And wait. Then wait an agonizingly long time in my awkwardness. Finally I can pull the lever to call it back to me.

Queue elevator music as I make our way to the top of the tower to find a glowing icon at the feet of a felled giant.

Nothing more, nothing less. After all the trials and tests of courage and skill, to have this presented without contest felt... Odd. An almost empty success, though perhaps there was a lock to this tower which I was unaware I had released.

Either way, I felt like I had at last found enough from this castle to venture forth to new lands. I set my sights on an area I had been before. One I was afraid of in the past.

To the lake filled with frog men and an academia in the center.

I wander around, looking for new nooks or crannies and find myself back to the sunken city. No longer fearing for my life as I was last time, I take on the from men and make them bleed the milky white blood. This feels disturbing for all sorts of reasons as the mess they leave at my feet remind me of some wild nights accounted to me by others.

No matter, I find my way up the ramps running past all the guards and dodging literal fire until I reach the gates. Only to find out I am missing a key. Was this venture for nothing? I start scouting. Searching, hunting down every last guard to find out if any know who has the key.

Eventually the yard is silent, with bodies of guards strewn all around and I must turn to chat.

Stolen they say. I must seek the key beyond these walls. And so they guide me to something that I do still fear. A sleeping dragon, beyond which I discover the slumped body of a scholar. Tight in its cold dead grasp I pull the key and without the dragon ever realizing I’m off with the prize and return to enter the academy.

I’m assured by my dear followers this would be 5 streams worth. With that thought in mind I say farewell, and with a mix of joy and dread look forward to the next stream.

Your yautja’s first reaction to you sharing the knowledge of your craft with them is that of pure star-struck and wanderlust. Humans with magic… what a concept in the eyes of a yautja! Chances are they’ve never heard of anything like it before hand, at least on planet earth.

There are all kinds of witches and practices you’d explain to them, and I can assure your your alien companion will make an effort to at least learn about your practice. How do you use and control magic? Are there others like you? Can you speak to the gods and ancestors?

The look on your yautja’s eyes when they see you perform a spell or do some tarot/oracle readings… Absolute astonishment. Sure, the yautja have their own set of beliefs and mythology, but human witches and beliefs are something they are not very well versed in. So expect a very curious yautja.

Shamans and spiritual leaders, I headcanon, are a thing on Yautja Prime. I think your yautja might be interested in taking you to meet their spiritual leaders. Have you ever seen Avatar? Yeah, I imagine something like that.

They might be interested in seeing if you yourself can connect with their gods and ancestors. If you can speak to and ask for guidance from spiritual beings on planet earth, perhaps you can do the same on prime planet?

Now, religion and craft are similar but aren’t exactly the same, so seeing a human (of all creatures) with the ability to guess future actions (intuition) and the world working under your fingertips would almost terrify some yautja…. Can you, uh, bless them with good hunts and battles? Sure, Cetanu is already a thing, but double the power means double the win and honor.

Incense, candles, and smudge sticks… my oh my! What a concoction of smells and… uses? Dragons blood incense… you mean, you humans have giant fire breathing lizards here on earth? And their blood is used for your craft? You’d have to explain to them that no, there are no dragons on earth, lol. No, yautja, we do not use their blood for our craft.

Good luck getting them to keep their hands to themselves. Practically impossible when there’s so many shiny things and aromas and books of craft. Can I eat this? Why does it smell so strong, ‘ooman? Damn aliens just can’t keep their hands to themselves, and hopefully they won’t touch your altar…
