gonna probably write my own fanfiction based off of “Florida man in SoCal”. But here’s the twist, it’s going to have some of my source memories I shared with California as I was in SoCal .

I’ve had this idea ever since I read “and they were roommates” by T_wolf so it’s a bit inspired.

TBOSAS gave an intense look at the map of panem pre-president snow era, so I pieced it together to make a more official map than anything i've seen thus far. plus, i'm insane about fictional maps for literally no reason. [keep in mind, this is shitty screenshots that i've put together and the screen the map appears on (during lucky's weather report) appears to be rounded, so some of the proportions and such might be off. ] more stuff under the cut

so, these are the images i used to make this:

and i pieced them together as best i could, some of the borders, like the bottom right of 12 and the bottom of 5 became sort of a guessing game because they were covered up/hard to see.

doing that and cropping/pasting them together gave me this image (same as at the top of post)

red lines are clear country borders, yellow are district borders, purple is any of the areas i was unsure about. As we can see from this, districts 7, 10, and 13 (not labelled on this map because at this point in canon-time, it's 'gone') have no definite ending borders, so it's hard to even guess where they would end at. using this i made this more polished map using each district's colours that are listed on fandom dot com

the unclear edges are left blurred because really i don't know where they end...

we know that panem is formerly north america, so i laid the image over a map of north america and got this:

it took a little adjusting because again, my map is based off of a warped television screen, but, we end up with something like this. some interesting things to note is that a lot of coast has presumably eroded away as time passed -- we lost all of baja, and most of florida and socal, and some of virginia and north carolina, and many pieces of the mexican states, though none in their entirety . the places where panem extends over NA water spaces (districts 6, 7, 13) are either from receding water levels or translation issues from the warping of the in-movie screen... or, my own personal error, i guess lol.

again, as far as 7, 10, and 13, their end borders are up to speculation, but i'd imagine 7 extends up to near the edge of the northern canadian borders and maybe into alaska -- though i can't say because that's a huge chunk of space (it is the lumber district, though, so it probably goes as high as the trees are...). same goes for 10: i'd guess it goes south a bit more to near the nartual borders, but likely in any low-elevation areas (near the southern provinces) the sea has swallowed up the land. as for 13, it likely extends more near norther quebec and out toward the maritime provinces (though i'd estimate that most of those are either completely underwater or complete above it, so there's no islands going on). truly though, it's anyone's guess, so let me know your thoughts on it if you made it this far down!

future-panem, like during the events of the hunger games, definitely has changed district borders. we knows there's fencing and forbidden area, so the districts are definitely far smaller and there's space between them (no man's land) so that there is little-to-no communication between districts.

anyway, thanks for checking this out, i spent too much time on this to come out with very little practical use, but if you're like me and you like knowing where fictional locations are/how they're laid out, this is for you

I'm trying to make sense of the latest Florida man in Socal vid and what I'm guessing is that Ben is like the God of this universe. Yes, I know that there's already a God but Ben is like a step above that. Ben is the one that makes all of this happen and the cameramen is how we're able to see.

The States can see the cameramen as fuzzy spots in their line of sight. They can see the cameramen sometimes but only if someone else holds the camera.

My theory is that Ben, the guest-actors and the cameramen all exist in a separate plain of existence that's above the one the states are in. The 4th wall is the thing that separates these plains but they can go through it to talk to the characters. Ben and the actors can go whenever they please but the states can't. The "fuzzy spots", that the characters see are weak spots in the 4th wall that by focusing hard enough, can be broken by the characters/personifications.

Gov knows about the opening credits so he's aware that they're being filmed by Greg.

The states know about Ben to some degree but some are in denial of his existence (Cali) and others are fully aware (Florida)

The power hierarchy that I've come up with: Ben, actors, cameramen, personifications, humans

Beach California headcannons:

• He doesn't appear much in the statehouse but when he does he's not as picked on as regular California bc he just doesn't get as riled up

• He interacts with Florida the most due to Florida man in SoCal

•He didn't and still doesn't understand why the rest of California was mad at him during covid and truly thinks he's never done anything wrong

• Lives solely on good vibes and vibes alone

• Ben has forgotten this guy exists and has never given him a name so when he fronts he chooses to sit out of table meetings in protest. This backfired because all of you have forgotten him too and if it wasn't for that post the other day I would have never remembered these hcs at all.

• Surfs a lot and almost started a war when he first met Florida and claimed he was "the better surfer". Gov tried to de-escalate the situation but almost made it worse.

• Instead he and Florida have annual surfing competitions with other states judging and Gov nervously supervising. It gets weirdly intense and they always end up cheating either by sabotage, vandalism, blackmail.

• One time Florida lost threw an alligator at him out of spite.

• Despite this they are pretty close friends as he's less judgemental than regular Cali and they occasionally smoke blunts together on one of their beaches.

• Is the version of Cali in the California girls song

• Florida had a minor crush on him during the surfer war due to how quickly he adapted to Florida's sabotage and matched his chaos

until he remembered that he was just California with a different shirt.

• He's literally just California succumbing to his himbo tendencies

i'm thinking about from fl man in socal 2, florida makes a crack at fire season and california instantly sobers up, stops the banter and says "fire season isn't funny!"

even after florida says "comedy is subjective!" and leaves, cali still looks pissed, like someone just made fun of a serious problem of his as if it was his fault for having it

like i'm thinking about 'fire season' functioning as a disability or chronic problem for cali bc i'm disabled and i love projecting
