Thinking about human behaviour compared to animal behaviour again.
It's funny to hear people (the older gens) complaining that "kids these days are lazy, they don't wanna work, etc." What do we get for busting our asses? There is no reward. Many will never own homes. Many are unemployed, trying to find work, and nobody will hire them because they don't have a million years experience and a masters degree OR they want people to work for minimum wage??? People are giving up because there is no reward. Why would we do all this for nothing?
Same as a dog that won't recall when you haven't reinforced it with a reward. Your dog isn't going to do what you tell it to if there is no incentive. No, your dog SHOULDN'T listen just because you're boss and it should respect you. That isn't how it works. They don't think that way. And honestly neither do people.
When we went hiking Sprocket wasn't always taking treats gently from me when I recalled her or she checked in and I rewarded and my one friend told me to stop giving her treats. I told him I won't work for free so why should she. And he said "I do things for free all the time because I want to do them," and I didn't say it then, but I wish I had, but if you like doing it, that's the incentive. It's a self-rewarding behaviour. Just like anything else a dog does, like chasing a squirrel or sniffing things or getting into the trash. Heeling instead of going off to sniff stuff or recalling off of something they want to chase is something you have to reinforce. You have to give them something better so they make the choice you want them to make. They won't make it just because they *respect* you. They won't willingly recall off of exciting prey out of RESPECT. You need to give them a tangible reward for that. You cannot possibly expect your dog to listen just because and then punish them for disobeying you.
Yeah, Sprocket bit my fingers a couple times. The one time pretty hard. But she was excited. She knows how to take gently and I reminded her and she tried very hard to be gentle most of the time. I wasn't going to stop rewarding her for checking in with me and recalling while we were off leash hiking in the woods. I want her to know that coming back to me is good and in the event of an emergency I would like her to not blow me off.
It’s kinda funny that Jason is, in every sense of the word, the most normal Robin. Unironically, there wasn’t anything uniquely special about him before he was Robin. He was a street kid. His dad was a goon (which makes sense for Gotham. It’s a goon breeding ground) and his adoptive mom was a girl who fell in love with the bad boy, got disowned by her upper middle class parents and adopted her boyfriend’s infant son. Even his biological mother isn’t anything special! She was just a doctor who ended up becoming corrupt.
Jason Todd was no circus kid who could do an impossible signature trick. He wasn’t being scouted by some evil hidden organization.
He wasn’t the rich boy genius who lived next door.
He’s not the son of a supervillain (as lame as cluemaster is, he still *counts*).
He’s not the secret son of Bruce Wayne.
And he’s not a metahuman, nor did he led a whole organization of teens to fight when Batman couldn’t.
He’s the most regular boy to ever enter become a hero in Gotham. He wanted to do good things for the sake of doing good. He grew up poor with regular parents, where bad things happened to them. The kinds of things that could happen to *any* person living in Gotham.
There is nothing about him, pre-Robin and as Robin, that makes him Not Like Regular Kids.
His dad was a goon (who, depending on the run, was either killed by Two-Face OR. Just sent to prison and killed in prison! Which makes his backstory even PLAINER-) and his mother was a drug addict with cancer. Jason ends up homeless, and almost steals the bat mobile tires. The only thing that makes him stand out from any other tragedy befallen kid in Gotham is the fact he was bold enough to do that, get Batman’s attention, and continue to be bold enough to go against a crime lord (who was apparently his grandmother, the most interesting person in his family, but since she’s almost never brought up, she’s likely no more significant than a one-issue villain in the crime lord power hierarchy). Batman realized that Jason wasn’t going to really stop, and honestly he kinda grew on him, so he decided to adopt Jason, and eventually allow him to become Robin.
There just isn’t anything amazingly special about his backstory. The few moments where something could have been done to make it more interesting (like his biological mother) but ended up taking the most boring option. You can’t do much of anything now to enhance his past without upsetting much more well established canon, and not without making people wonder “well if his grandmother was such a big name in crime, why hasn’t she been brought up before?”
Jason Todd was a wonderful Robin (providing that he actually has a writer who likes him). He has a golden heart, he’s the voice of reason. He’s everything that a Robin needs to be for Batman. But compared to everyone else, he was nothing special. In a way, his lack of Not Like Regular Kids makes him stand out in a much more subtle way.
As if someone asked the question “Do I need to be someone special to be Robin?” And the answer was “You don’t need to be someone special, you just need to be brave, like Jason Todd was.”
So blame it on me making food-themed dragons, and failing to draw a full-body of the Ennead in the Class Pulls a Tiamat Aus. So Why not combine them- along with a hint of Ghosts are Dragons.
See, most, if not every, person in Amity Park, and even it’s surrounding areas, know better than to use the W word. It is borderline taboo to use the ‘wish’ word. But somebody got drunk, said a thing they shouldn’t have, and now there’s a bit of an issue.
Which honestly, they could have dealt with! Easily even! If not for the fact that erm, realms beings can get summoned. Meaning Desiree is well, gone. Gone long enough for the twenty-four hour mark to pass. And they can’t exactly punish a ghost for doing what’s in their nature and part of their very Core.
So.
It seems everyone is food themed now. Every ghost and liminal- though at least Amity was already weird and pretty hidden from the Outside nowadays- and even a few undead.
Honestly, Fright Knight should not look so terrifying with his new coloration and criss-cross patterns across his back. But well, he pulls it off, burnt-looking limbs and all. (Seriously, his flames look more like whip-cream now and he’s still somehow pulling it off- Dash wants to know his secret!
At least the nine of them haven’t gotten it too bad, probably. And Lunch Lady is pleased, so there’s that, but still. Jazz looks like a dragon sushi roll for Realm’s sake, and- okay that’s kind of funny. Vlad you can’t hide your new fruit-based appearance!
Hah!
Oh Realms there’ll need to be so much paperwork for th- Oh thank fuck someone is summoning them now. Alright, showtime! Time to be Heir of the Infinite, big scary nine headed dragon! Ignore the food-theme-ish guys!
I will never understand some dog trainers aversion to just not allowing a dog that guards resources from other dogs to interact with other dogs when having that resource. it's just so simple. or like. just closing a gate or door.
Everytime I rewatch the 2004 movie, there's something that I always feel justifies Alan's thoughts and actions when it comes to feeling like he's the black sheep of the family more than anything. Namely: this family portrait/mural.
It spans most of a wall and is, quite frankly, damn good. It's exactly the kind of dramatic, family photo you'd expect in a regular billionaire's home, let alone Jeff Tracy's. But take a closer look. This is a family painting. A FAMILY PAINTING that features a proud Father and his talented Sons:
Scott, Virgil, Jeff, Gordon & John
But where's Alan, you ask? Well, guess what? Once again: HE'S NOT THERE!
I've always found it pretty messed up that Alan isn't on it. There is plenty of room because it doesn't take up the entire wall, so that's not an excuse. But more importantly: this is the Command Centre. Also known as Jeff's Office. Where he goes everyday and sees everyday and spends more time in there than anyone else. So you can't tell me he just forgot to put Alan on it. No, of course it's on purpose. And whether he meant to or not, that's just another thing that's pushing Alan away from the family.
Like, fair enough, he doesn't have a portrait leading to the silos because he's not a Thunderbird yet. But the damn thing is what is hiding the silo portraits!
And everytime Jeff summons Alan to his Office to berate him, Alan has to walk past and look at that thing. The perfect picture of the perfect Father and the perfect Sons. And Alan isn't on it. And you (Jeff) wonder why he's always reckless and selfish and trying to prove himself! You haven't shown him he doesn't need to!
I wouldn't be surprised if he's already tried to explain why he doesn't like it and Jeff and his brothers just twisted it around to him being spiteful or something.
And those two family photos on his desk do not justify Alan not being on that version of the wall, Jeff Tracy! It doesn't matter if they're on your desk right in front of you two tiny pictures do not make up for an entire damn mural! And I'll die on that hill. It's messed up!
*Anyway, thanks for listening to my little rant lmao*
Okay WHAT THE HECK??? The storyboards from the wasteland episode are SO GOOD AND INTERESTING!! Like what- HOW IS THERE SO MUCH CONTENT HIDDEN??? WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT IT???
There’s like a whole change to the chasing scene that I’m wondering if they had to take out because of run time? Like high key it was really cool looking! It really makes me wish even more that season 2 was longer bc the team was so good at making the chase scenes with the flecks both scary but entertaining and they had so many creative ideas!!
Also I just think it’s really cool that from the way Lake reacts so quickly you can really feel how second nature running, hiding and in general escaping is to Lake at this point. After being chased for so long so many times. Also in what was taken out I feel like it takes the flecks a bit more effort to catch up to Lake which I really enjoy and I think makes me stay at the edge of my seat!
There’s also really funny dialogue that was taken out like pleaseeeevjsbsLAKE WAS GONNA CALL THE APEX PSYCHOPATHS AHDNSN
Simply *chef’s kiss*
ALSO 😭
I’m not the only one that thought those were tears? Like in the final episode those looked like tears to me! But it’s actually hair 🥺 imagine Lake got a scar now from that!
Jesse has a scar from Sieve after been thrown into the tv while Lake has one from Mace (although let’s be real Lake probably has more than one)
"i didn't have a horrible horrible cavity pain moment today :) that's great they hurt really really bad so I don't like when they happen" <- doesn't know they're about to brush their teeth and have a horrible horrible cavity pain moment
