Robin fic snippet
Palm scrubbed over her shining cheeks, Elle sat on the ground and said, shudderingly, “Well. I know why you’re alive.”
“For you.”
It probably should have stung, but it didn’t. Not really. A magic girl born in a place magic couldn’t quite thrive, protected in the one way harsh, horrible way Gotham knew how: hope. A woman who’d come back someday, and love it still, blood and crime and chaos all, the whole festering soul of a city.
Jason had belonged to so much worse.
“What?” She blinked. Scowled, wiping under her eyes like Jason couldn’t have told her her face was still perfect, if she’d only asked. “No. Jesus, Jason. It doesn’t have anything to do with me.”
He didn’t believe her, and Eleanor clearly knew it, rising up on her knees and drawing closer on the uneven ground.
“You were born in the city,” Elle said, softly. Fiercely. “Magic can’t love like people can, but Gotham loves you. That’s why, god, it didn’t know how to fix you, but it tried. You came back in pieces and it put you back together because it didn’t want to let you go.”

pushing strands of their hair out of their face
brushing the dust of their clothes
wiping off a food stain near their lips (bonus: you lick it off your fingers)
briefly tracing the lines of their palms
patiently helping them put their shoes on
teasingly playing with the string of their hoodie
nose boops
comparing hand sizes
accidentally grazing their hands as both of you are reaching for the same object
gentle massages for their shoulders
delicately putting your hand on their back
playful stabs with your fingers onto the side of their waist
ever so light forehead pecks

homestuck was so perfect for autistic teenagers bc it took characters being sorted into categories and having Attributes to its absolute extreme. forget four hogwarts houses, every character has their associated colour their zodiac sign their associated animal their dream planet their god tier class and aspect their typing quirk their pesterchum handle their weapon their planet of x and y, as well as each of them having a handful of other very quantifiable Personality Traits and Interests (e.g. this one is a clown this one is angry this one likes fashion this one is just rufio from hook for some reason) and THEN they all also have their respective ancestors and dancestors(?)(plucked that word from my memory) who have all of those things as WELL
and god not to mention the fucking quadrant system
as a 13-15 year old autistic kid i didnt even need homestuck to have a plot i just happily made a big big spreadsheet of character attributes in my brain

the way that one line from the new epilogue in an astarion romance is going to HAUNT me
just. what a profoundly intense thing to confess to someone.
like, just these six months of newfound happiness with you exerts a force on his heart equal and in direct opposition to two centuries of endless torment, the gnawing hunger and exploitation. this flashbulb-bright fraction of his long life holds the same gravity to him as years upon years of darkness and suffering.
in all likelihood, he hasn’t even known his lover for as long as his worst memory lasted, that year sealed away to go mad from starvation and sensory deprivation, yet he still tells them this brief time has been so fundamentally and powerfully important that the weight of even that unimaginable hell is vanishingly small compared to this present he has now and the future ahead of them both.
how am i supposed to act normal about this.
