i feel like this is controversial, but i did actually enjoy teen titans go- if only for the reason it so clearly was not meant to be a canonical representation of their characters and was just done for shits and giggles

Has anybody ever talked about how the thing that made the og teen titans show zo good was that they didnt bother trying to make them balance a civilian identity with a superhero double life??? They were just the titans at all times from the start of the show. And their origins/backstories still managed to be relevant and impactful on the plot wothout us having to be introduced to the character that way? That shit was cool as hell.

i was being a completely sane person today (/s) and was creating a timeline tree for snm would anyone even be interested in that. and collecting my shipping thoughts (or specifics about them being a couple etc). know that i still consider my knowledge of the franchise as poor. its just tidying it up in my head so when i talk about something i can pinpoint a specific thing (i was too deep in fnaf theorizing so now i have to suffer thru a franchise that doesnt even have a canon)

in short/tldr the comics are the base that happened in every possible timeline and everything else is derived from that, happening after, except the cartoon, which shows some events the same way so that would be more intertwined; not everything is connected/within one timeline. and the cartoon is my most fav and where i see them as a true couple.

long rant ahead

on one hand i really like the time travel theory where its like comics -> ttg -> cartoon etc by them travelling back in time for that, however there are many holes especially thinking about their families and stuff so

i like the idea of things branching off. one branch is comics - htr - cartoon, as something more intertwined

second is comics -> ttg -> poker night 2 (since it references ttg events) (idk bout 1 i havent played/seen that)

third would be comics -> ttiv (or comics -> htr -> ttiv, i have no idea atm if bosco's is mentioned in the comics but it is in htr and mentioned in ttiv. ttiv is also set in the year it came out, so theres a huge gap inbetween ttiv and htr but i wouldnt say its where the ttg games happened!)

and i dont mean this in like a multiverse way, since the creator seems to dislike that, its simply just a very loose canon that differs with each installment (simply due to different people working on these imo. nothing too deep imo)

but the juicy part!! i even made brackets that im too lazy to remake digitally so i will just write it out for each bigger installment. im excluding poker night 1 as i havent played it nor watched much gameplay

M = married, BF = best friends (in all technically)

comics: M - unlikely; BF - yes absolutely

htr: M - possible; BF - yes

cartoons: M - i take it as canon here. BF - yes million percent

ttg all seasons: M - no; BF - yes.

poker night 2: M - not sure, implied dating, i take that as good enough; BF - yes

ttiv: M - absolutely not. not a couple at all. BF - they seem too tense, yes, but from my experience playing, their interactions were imo the worst in all of their media, so i wasnt buying it at some points

note - ttiv has to be like the straightest they ever were and i also see it in S.P.'s more recent work. im looking too deep into that, perhaps, but im just thinking were never gonna get anything similar to what we got from back in the 90s again, if theres any future projects

people are also saying they got married like 4 times and its making me a bit confused here. do people mean cartoon, htr dress up card, cake topper and tdph ring scene or am i missing something big?? because to me that is married once, other ones being just for jokes (first one as well but its less vague), and in the ttg games its so extremely vague i cant count that (being realistic here) that said its still fun to joke about them getting married several times, but in this case wouldnt it be more of a marriage per timeline?

and to end this, a personal tierlist

my most fave obviously is the cartoon. not only is it the easiest to work with for me, with the fast pacing and short watch time (but ofc i wish it was longer) i absolutely love how their relationship is depicted there, even if a lot of stuff there is just jokes, but if everything is a joke then its also fine to take everything as canon within this media, to me! like when haters say that people only take the wedding scene out of the intro and ignore the rest - as if the other stuff couldnt happen (isnt one of the shots them fighting a giant octopus, which they end up having an episode about too. like cmon. anything goes here) even if it was contained within this specific part of the franchise, im ok with calling them a couple here. and its S tier overall

another S tier is the comics. nothing else to say

HTR is like A tier to me, only taking off points because its soooo sloooowwww and playing it after watching the series took 3 years off my life immediately. otherwise gud game.

ttg is like A to B tier for me, because of some specifics and preferences but thats just me being nitpicky so, the games overall are good. A- it is. thats all

poker night 2 is fun, i watch the gameplay a lot lately when im too tired at midnight to do anything else, A tier

ttiv. oh how mixed i am about you. gameplay by itself and my first experience with the game - S tier. it made me so giddy more than one time and i kept wanting to come back until i finished the game fully. i dont mind the bugs, its just what i expect in VR games and even tho it made me a bit frustrated at times it wasnt all that bad. its also the only vr game i played for over an hour once and didnt get motion sick - the exception was the level at the store which seemed too bright and actually made me nauseous. which is a feeling that somehow comes back whenever i think about this game. what i dislike was the dialogue, while most of it was fun and fine, i had moments where i just burst out laughing, they (or max especially) were way too mean towards the player. i know its a joke and you could chalk it up to max being unhappy with us/jealous, but it got like, generally unpleasant very quickly. with stuff like good throw - "nice!" bad throw - *neverending insults* and the second was how painfully straight it was and like. the vibes i got from them two was like, oh theyre fed up with each other and my shipping self was just left quite disappointed. i did not get all lines during my gameplay which made it great but upon going thru every line manually after, i was just more and more uncomfortable with what they said in their banter. this drops the game to like C for me? maybe B if i squint. being generous. i also got sick of their talking animations over time... the models are fine just got to be too much. bonus points for max ragdoll physics tho. coming up with a conclusion that this is a completely separate timeline and has nothing to do with anything other than the comics and perhaps HTR. i talked so long about this one cause its the one thing that prompted all of this lol.

but its not that serious! i just knew this franchise for ages as "oh its the two animal guys that are married and its funny" and now that i got into it fully, i see a lot of the shippers are obviously daydreaming and taking things out of context - which is fun, i agree!! i also do that. but it just painted a completely different picture for me. so no. theyre not married, theyre not a couple, except for the cartoon, where its implied, which stays on top for me. but in ttg at least, they love each other, its not as romantic, but i can ship them there (so i ship them in the context of the cartoon and ttg basically)

anyway. nothing is canon for them, everything is canon for them, and everything they say or do is a joke so. its not that deep at all. they gay tho

Used to hate, now I love

I used to hate anime and think it was cringe. I would trash it and joke about banning it if I became president. At the time, all I knew of was Pokémon and Beyblade and both seemed boring to me. Little 8 year old me wanted to watch Octonauts or TTG because that was what caught my attention. Learning about the amount of alt right fans who fetishize the more conservative elements and Japanese girls did not help its image to me. I kind of had a similar view of SU. I enjoyed it at the time but held some homophobic beliefs due to being ignorant and didn’t fully understand it. While I thankfully never watched Lily Orchard’s garbage video, I did watch Misanthropony’s video which is just as hateful, full of bad faith criticism and mean spirited. That soured my image of the show for some time as did learning about the toxic behavior of some fans.

Around two years ago, this started to change. I started rewatching SU and falling in love with it. It was at this time that I was starting to question who I was and figure things out more which is why I related to it so much. I started watching other queer shows like The Owl House and even Twelve Forever despite that one having a problematic creator. Getting back into SU as well as other shows I liked such as Ben 10, Teen Titans or Ninjago that had anime influences pushed me to start watching more. Being disappointed in Disney, for reasons completely different from right wing dudebros, was another reason. A few years prior, my image of it had already started to change after watching Your Name in a literature class and being blown away. Last year, I noticed another film, Suzume, by the same director, Makoto Shinkai, and decided to check it out. I ended up watching it in theaters and it was the Japanese version. That cemented my view that anime was far more than just Shonen for “anti woke” guys. I started watching other movies and shows such as A Whisker Away, Akira and Ghibli films like Spirited Away and gave Pokémon another chance. I tried watching the 90s Sailor Moon anime and found it hard to get into. I ended up watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica instead and was blown away. I will end up giving Sailor Moon another chance especially since I didn’t initially like Princess Tutu but ended up enjoying it. I am currently binging Dennou Coil on Netflix which I learned about from a tumblr I follow @angrysnakes. I feel like I missed out on a lot and am trying to get caught up. One thing I learned is that you have to give something a chance rather than let the haters and toxic fans ruin it for you.

Shoooccckkk pas liat announcement ini yg tadinya cuma spill2 skrg udah fix official yah.

Jujur selama ini belom pernah nonton mreka manggung live padahal kesempatan banyak bahkan di panggung kecil sekalipun. Pernah di event yg sama pengisinya SO7 tapi beda hari beneran belom jodoh ih yaaa gustiii.. Malahan ktemunya bukan lg manggung sama Eross doang itu jg, tahun 2011 di Java rockinland inimah sempet minta foto yakan wkwk. Sama wkt Blur konser blio nonton di festival bareng aku tepat di blkg aku bgt mau minta foto lg ngga tepat yaa wktnya haha, etapi kalo vincent di VIP secara fans berat Blur.

Dari jaman SMA sampe kuliah yg lagi suka2nya bgt nonton gigs ngga jodoh aja nonton SO7 live. Aku ngga klaim diriku Sheila gank jg yg sampe jadi membernya, aku fans secukupnya aja yg mengagumi karya mereka sejak SD vidclip lagu "Kita" muncul di TV. Telinga bapakku yg tajam sama musik2 ear catching jg lsg komen saat itu "eh siapa ini band, lagunya simple tapi enak" begitu komentarnya inget bgt pdhl msh SD akutu wkwk. Mana jadi sontreknya Lupus Milenia yg lg hype saat itu yg jadi Lupusnya Irgi, yg jadi Lulunya Agnes monica dong haha lawas abis. Jadi lagu "Kita" identik sama lupus jg ituu. Karena kebegogan ini ngefans lah ceritanya, kalo western tuh ya jaman Boyband hype jd suka Westlife kalo band indo aku suka SO7 sampe beli majalah fantasi yg edisi heuseus mreka dpt posternya jg inget bgt msh ada Sakti dan Anton, mreka pake blangkon gt wkwkwk aku awet2 bgt tuh poster ngga di tempel2 di tembok krn lebar weh.. Sampe di hina sama sepupuku katanya mreka ini muka2 ndeso jawa (padahal dia bapaknya org jawa dan suaminya skrg jawa bgt. Memang gaboleh sekate2 tuh bener adanya haha), tp ttp akumah suka weh.

S07 dulu sangat terkenal bgt bgt, sampe tiap manggung fans fanatiknya edun2, pernah tuh jd headline berita wkt mreka manggung sampe ada yg meninggal desek2an duh naudzubillahimindzalik. Ngeri sih fans militan.. Saking hypenya mreka banyak artis2 yg sentimen atau "iri" mungkin ya.. Termasuk edy brokoli yg sentimen pake kaos bertulisalan "f*ck sheila on 7" wah jaman itu panas bgt emg. Yah gmn jg ttp yg lagi diatas daun mah ada aja hatersnya yah. Tp mungkin mreka udah damai yah. Beberapa tahun belakangan ini bukannya SO7 dinobatkan sbg band tanpa haters yah? Saking humble dan ngga "so ngartis" nya mreka.. Humblenya kaya gmn? Ah udah tau lah yaa berita ttg bersahajanya mreka kaya apa jg udah banyak terekspose.

Satu2nya album mreka yg aku punya dlm bentuk kaset itu album ke 3, yaitu 07 Des. Wkt itu udah SMP dan tracklistnya semua ngga ada yg gagal, dlm album ini semua member bikin lagu dong~ Eross pun menyumbang suaranya. Oiya pas album ini Anton udah out tp Brian belom masuk. Album pertama dan album ke 2 kisah klasik untuk masa depan itu masih SD kelas 6 kalogasalah, punyanya VCD bajakan gt yg nyampur sama album ke 1. Belom ada keinginan beli2 kaset sama uang sendiri, karena selama ini selalu dibeliin Bapak kaset2 Ori atau DVD ori. Beranjak abg dah ngumpulin uang sendiri trus beli lagu2 yg udah dewasa yah ituuu wkwkwk. Terlebih bari dibeliin walkman sony digital yg saat itu harganya ngga murah, senang bukan kepalang pas punya walkman, abg tea udah menyendiri di kamar dengerin lagu2 hype pada jamannya. Walkmannya udah termasuk radionya, kalo bosen sama kaset2nya tinggal switch ke radio. Yaampun good old days!

Masih mengikuti album2 mreka sampe kuliah kali yaa, lagu2 wajib masuk list karokean harus ada S07 bgt. Sobi gigsku fya yg skrg tinggal di jepang sana fans berat S07 jg, apalagi kakaknya si kak aya, blio sheila gank sih sampe ikut membernya. Konser di Jogja aja mreka datengin. Duh coba fya udah balik indo trus kita dpt tiket, seneng kayanya mengenang jaman muda.

Trus gmn kudu war? Inidiaaaa problemnya! Sbg gen milenial kami ngga terbiasa war2an gini, dulu ngga gini bgt perasaan huhu. Wkt konser SO7 di Jkt aja susahnya minta ampun, yg ngga dapet banyak bgt pada apdet kekecewaan di igs, banyak bgt. Dan pas hari H konser cuma 1 org kawan SMP ku yg nonton berikut dia jg org media yg bisa aja pny jatah tiket dr ordal huhu. Ada bgt pesimisnya, kalo dpt mungkin rejeki bgt yah. Karena gamungkin cuma org Bdg yg berburu tiketnya, pasti konser di Bdg peminatnya banyak bgt bgt. Di sisi lain pgn bgt tp dptin tiketnya ko sesulit ituuu hiks. Tgl 1 Mei itu sebentar lg loh deg2annya dari skrg wkwk. Semoga emak2 yg udah super jarang kokonseran ini dapet rejekinya yah wlpn saingannya sama yg Fomo dan calo, tp ya coba dulu aja. Jgn lupa siapkan perasaan kecewanya yaa kan udah biasa dpt kekecewaan.. Eey~

Hmm tbh I’d say my ideal demon Raven design would be kind of a mix!! I really like the legs and horns from the ttg design but I’d prefer for her to have more of her NTT look for facial features and her hair. I’m forever a tot demon Raven defender tho I won’t listen to the haters I love her and her receding hairline

i've come to a horrible earth shattering realization that ttg did, in fact, go downhill in season 3. i just learned that episode about college was not from season 5, that final nail in the coffin that killed my interest in the show as a kid, but was in fact season 3 episode 47. my worldview is ruined. im even more of a ttg hater now. what's next? learning the coin-defacing episode was season 4?

lowkey though I think The Try Guys are pretty much done

their upload schedule has been super inconsistent (we are well past the grace period for a holiday-upload schedule, even just from a financial quarter perspective)

and

Keith is super invested and devoted to the off-Broadway show he's been making with Lewberger. If any additional theatrical opportunities arise from this, Keith will take them. He's always said he loves performing live more than anything else.

Eugene is BARELY ever around, I know he says he's never leaving TTG, but c'mon. He's had one foot out the door since early 2021 at least. He turned 37 this year and clearly wants to do a lot more than just create internet content.

Zach is of course still around, but he's always admitted to being the most devoted to and invested in TTG out of any of them. So I don't really "count" his continued interest in terms of effectively keeping the entire team going.

Ever since the Ned Incident, I've had a feeling this group was coming to an end.

honestly I won't be surprised if this is their last year, and they just decided to postpone any official ending so it didn't seem like it was all because of Ned. but like. it's not hard to connect the dots there.

I'm not trying to be a hater. If anything, I'm preparing myself for what's likely going to be a bit of a "wah wah" of an ending for a group I've really loved and been following since 2017.

they reached incredible heights after Buzzfeed, did way better than I think anyone expected as an independent channel. that's really noteworthy and impressive. but it's pretty easy to see the writing on the wall.

they were strongest as a foursome, lost a ton of shine after Eugene took a step back, and are now relying on people pretty much just loving Zach and Keith to keep the company afloat.

and I DO love Zach and Keith. I just also know that they're going to struggle a lot to maintain or even reach the same level of success without Eugene and/or Ned. not even because Ned was that popular (he was kind of known for being the least popular one, actually) but because they're limited in what they can have just Zach and Keith do. even when bringing on more guests.

anyway. this is a long ramble and ultimately not that important, maybe I'm totally off-base. but I'd be very surprised if TTG as a company exists in 2024. I think the only reason they're still going now is that they have a lot of employees that need to be paid, and they're probably trying to give people a chance to establish careers elsewhere.
