Between 1940 and 1975, the Silver Belt Race was held at Sugar Bowl. It was a giant slalom run that began near the top of Mt. Lincoln. In 1955, the contestants played a baseball game on skis after the race. Contestants included: Bill Beck, Warren Miller, Chris Schwarzenbach, Doc Howard, Suzi Harmon, Joyce Conner, Gardner Smith, Steve Knowlton, Yves Latreille, Joan Auckenthaler, John Jay, Cathy Cary.
