Setting: AU in which Fred doesn’t die cause.. no, five years after the war ended

Warnings: None really, except for cheesiness

At Bill and Fleur’s wedding, Fred hadsaid that if he was ever getting married, he wouldn’t bother with anyof the nonsense that the two of them had insisted on. It had beenalmost five years since that statement had been made, but Fred stillstood by it. George and Angelina looked happy, by all means, but allthat bloody ruckus and distress and money for one day? Fred hadn’tunderstood it back then and he didn’t get it now either. If he wasbeing honest, he didn’t quite see the appeal of getting married atall.

He scouted the crowd and found Leestanding by the chocolate fountain with Ginny, Percy and Katie.Merlin knew what the four of them could possibly have in common. Whatwas more peculiar was that by the looks of it, Percy was the one whohad just made everyone fall over themselves laughing. Fred smiled tohimself and took a sip of his drink before he strolled over to thegroup.

“Have my eyes become damaged as aresult of my advanced age, or was Perce making everyone laugh justnow?”

“He didn’t do it on purpose,” Leesaid.

Fred grinned at put an arm around hisshoulders. “No? Wanna come dance with me, then? It’s awfully rude,you know, leaving your date alone at a wedding. Made me look dowrightpathetic.”

Dancing had never been Fred’s area ofexpertise, more George’s so, but he managed not to step on anyone’stoes or stumble, so all in all, he didn’t feel like Lee had any rightto complain. Which he didn’t. He held one hand on Fred’s waist, theother one clasping Fred’s hand, and steered them carefully around thedancefloor, all while a small, amused smile was tugging at his lips.

“You know, laughing at someone who’sdoing their very best isn’t nice,” Fred said.

“I’m not laughing at your effort, youpillock,” Lee said before he spun Fred around, then back. “Moreat your face, really. You’re concentrating pretty hard.”

Fred grinned. “Yes, well, I reckonthe groom’s brother-in-law breaking his neck at the hand of thegroom’s brother might put a bit of a damper on the festivities.”

Lee burst out laughing, loud and raw,and an elderly witch dancing with her husband next to them threw thema haughty look. “Would make for a memorable wedding, though.”

As he looked around, Fred reckoned thewedding was already quite memorable. People were having fun, his mumhad only had two nervous breakdowns, and all his siblingssibings-in-law were just the right amount of drunk. Couldn’t ask formuch more when hosting a wedding with close to three hundredattendees.

“Are you changing your mind there?”

Fred blinked, snapping himself out ofhis own thoughts. A slow song was playing, and Lee had taken tosimply swaying the two of them back and forth. “Changing my mindabout what?”

Lee wiggled his eyebrows. “You know.”

Snorting, Fred shook his head. “Aboutthis whole marriage-thing? No, definitely not.”

“Ah. A fleeting moment of hope, gone,just like that.”

Cocking his head to the side, Fredraised an eyebrow. “Does it really bother you?”

There was a pause where Lee merelylooked at Fred, considering, as they continued swaying back andforth. “No, not really,” he then said, smiling. “Suppose I’mhappy as long as I get to keep you, whether it’s legally binding ornot.”

“Oh, that’s great, Lee,” Fred said.“Not only are you a great, old sap – you’re now a great, old,creepy sap.”

“How am I being creepy?!”

“You said you get to keep me,like I’m a broom or set of spell books!”

“Well, I’m not much of a Quidditchplayer, but I could ride you like-”

“No. Don’t finish that sentence.”

“There were two words left.”

“And I don’t wanna hear those twowords.”

Lee shifted his grip on Fred and pulledhim close. Grinning widely, he leaned in and kissed Fred, brief, butdeep. “As long as you choose to stay with me, I’ll keep assumingyou love my creepiness and my sappiness.”

Fred didn’t reply.

there is never too much free, just remeber that

like, i have nothing to do so here it is: 

- singing duets from different parts of the room. fred is singing in the shower and lee sings (so loud btw) with him from his bed - throwing into each other's bed - weirdly dancing at 3 a.m while the radio plays old songs - watching spanish shows because they don't have anything to do and don't understand anything - fred reading the mystery novels lee has because he absolutely loves them - talks that end with a bursting laugh - lee always flirting and saying embarrassing things to fred in the middle of quidditch matches - got suspended for 3 weeks because of that - "hey, wake up" - "what?" - "i just wanted to say that i love you" - fred always tries his best to make lee laugh when he's sad - he is capable of anything - the partners in crime™ - cliche sometimes - they spend 30% of their time together in the kitchens eating - passing notes during class - holding back laugh during class because one of them said something so stupid but rly funny in that notes - umbridge came and omg - hold up, so many things to say - always kissing when umbridge passes - or hugging or just some random lovers stuff - just to fuck off umbridge - " i love you" "i love you more" constantly - saying random and sometimes lovely names to each other - fred calling lee a dickhead and the next day calling him honey - lee is always late and fred has to wait for him like 20 minutes - and they are late for class but fred never blames lee - S T R E T C H   I N   E A C H   O T H E R ' S   L A P - tickle fights - fred trying to pass lee's muggle videogames and constantly asking what have he to do - lee loving james bond and fred enduring lovingly the huge admiration lee has for him - when they sleep together, lee puts his head in fred's neck and tackles him out of the bed when he's deeply sleeping. fred's arm is crushed by lee's body and his face gets closer to lee's - fred is the first to wake up usually, such a morning person - fred and george leave hogwarts and lee is so sad - and writes them every day - so when he ends goes directly to weasley wizard wheezes to meet them - and fred and lee hug and kiss again after a long time - lee does all the possible things and gets a little apartment near them - "fred and lee dancing and singing loud songs of the weird sisters in the street (despite they're in a war) because they didn't dance together in the yule ball" is one of my favourite things - potterwatch is a success and fred is like "i knew you will make it, love" - fred, george, and lee making a new part of the podcast just laughing and chilling with special guests because they want to remind people how important is feel happy - protecting each other's always - and then the battle of hogwarts cames - death? i don't know her - they both pass the war but fred is seriously injured - lee passes with him most of the day and nights and then he gots better - fred encourages them to keep with the radio, and lee helps him with the shop - molly is such a great mother-in-law - she starts to knit lee's sweater and lee is so happy (who no?) - and then, years later, they decide to adopt a girl and a boy, and hell yeah, the family jordan-weasley is a reality - it's 9:30 here in spain and i can’t think about that correctly because i only slept 5 hours - but i can say that they're very happy and they're a lovely couple who love their kids and family - fuck you, joanne - love y'all

Modern au– driving with a drunk couple prompt: "Oliver? I know this sounds stupid, but could you please go pick up my brother and his boyfriend? I have a really important essay I need to finish."

Percy had asked him that over thirty minutes ago. Oliver also had an important training tactic he was developing for tomorrows practice but his ever-growing crush on the red haired nerd made it impossible for Oliver to say no to any of Percy's requests. So here he was, driving Lee who was cuddling into Fred's side as Fred lay sloppy kisses all over his head, back to campus. He really needed a word with his quarterback about taking his commentator boyfriend on obscure dates to pubs out of town without even bringing money for a taxi ride back, especially on days before practice.

He tried drowning out the sounds coming from the back seat as well as the slight jealousy of wishing it were him and one of the passengers' older brother instead, focusing his attention on the rhythmic rumble of the car. Expanded version

Free Lee asking Fred out through quidditch commentary

“And there goes Angelina–oof, another cheating move from the Slytherins–no Professor, I will not stop.”

The quidditch pitch is packed to the brim with students, all cheering for their favorite team as the Slytherins and Gryffindors compete for that one step closer to the Quidditch Cup. 

Lee Jordan is commenting on the plays as usual, sprinting back and forth out of Professor McGonagall’s grip.

“Do you all know what today is?” Lee continues on as he scrambles across a few bleachers. “That’s right! April 1st, otherwise known as Fred and George’s birthday.”

Lee waves at the twins, who return the gesture between hitting the bludger back towards the other end of the pitch.

“And so, on this very special day,” Lee nearly trips over another student, “I have one question to ask. Fred, will you go out with me?”

Everything comes to a halt then, and even the Slytherin players stop to stare at Lee. From his spot, Lee can see Fred’s reddening face, his mouth opening and closing before he speeds his broom over to the podium. 

“Didn’t know you found my plays so breathtaking,” Fred teases, reaching out for Lee. 

Lee leans over the edge and it’s the one rare time he allows Professor McGonagall to grab hold of him so he doesn’t go tumbling to the ground. 

Their kiss is filled with soft smiles and it could go on forever until a sharp voice interrupts them. 

“Oi, we have a quidditch game to finish!”

Fred pulls back with rolling eyes and shakes his head with a grin. “Yes, captain, my captain.”

Oliver Wood grumbles something to himself as Angelina, Katie, and Alicia gossip behind giggles and whispers. Harry gives a small encouraging smile while George practically tackles Fred when he flies back out to the center of the pitch. 

With a rather loud sigh, Madam Hooch restarts the game with a harsh whistle and the cacophony begins again. 

“My goodness, look at my wonderful boyfriend!” Lee cheers. “Let me tell you a few things about him...”

Golden trio era rarepairs are just the best!!!!!! There are just so many dynamics you can explore, so many aus you can create, so many stories just waiting to be written... I just love rarepairs, okay?

Perciver - Percy x Oliver - Best friends to lovers! Nerd x jock! They were roommates!!!!! There’s just so much potential here!!! This definitely isn’t the rarest of pairings on this list but it’s one of my favorites to write so I had to include it!!!

Fredlee - Fred x Lee - More best friends to lovers!!! Quidditch player x quidditch commentator!!! Another roomates cliche!!! So adorable!!! Also so much potential for fluff and angst! 

Spinnell - Alicia x Katie - WLW quidditch teammates! Background ship that could easily fit into canon! They would be so fricking cute and if anybody tried to harm them, you know the rest of the quidditch team would be ready to kick some ass.

Georville - George x Neville - George goes back to Hogwarts after the war, either to try and recover from Fred’s death or, if Fred doesn’t die in your fic, simply to get his N.E.W.T.S., maybe to get more potions and herbology studying in for new products? And he connects with Neville and maybe they both love herbology and spend way too much time in the greenhouses. 

Lunmione - Hermione x Luna - Idk, the believer x sceptic trope just gets me. They keep teaching each other things and there is so much to learn and they spend so much time together that one they just realize that maybe they like each other.

Thomley - Ron x Dean - Artsy boyfriends! Quidditch fan x quidditch player!1 They were roommates!!! Friends to lovers!!!! So many tropes, and yet so little content for this ship.

Rarry - Ron x Harry - BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS!!!!!! They were roommates!! So much canon evidence in support of them and yet people still deny the very possibility that they could be in love? NO. I will fight for this ship forever.

Runa - Ron x Luna - Childhood friends turned lovers! Artsy significant others!! Quidditch commentator/fan x quidditch player!!! Yeah, their friendship is kinda shaky in canon but they would be so cute together!!!!

Nevannah - Neville x Hannah - This is canon and so underappreciated! Healer! Hannah and Herbology Lover! Neville could rock the medicial wizardry world (especially if you like polyam ships and add in Potions Master! Theo)! This is a power couple if I have ever seen one, they deserve all the love!

Heamus - Harry x Seamus - So, the most common storyline I’ve seen for these two is that they date in 6th year while Dean and Ginny are dating, first to make those two jealous and then they actually fall for each other. Also, they were roommates.

Huna - Harry x Luna - These two are such good friends, and yes they are a total Brotp, but also, it would be so easy for them to like each other? They’ve both had pretty traumatic lives but they feel safe/not alone when they’re around each other and they’re so supportive and ugh they’re so cute.

Pavender - Parvati x Lavender - Best friends to lovers, they were roommates, Gryffindor girlfriends!!! Parvati taking care of Lavender after the war because of what happened with Greyback. 

Sunnah - Susan x Hannah - Best friendss to lovers, they were roommates, Hufflepuff girlfriends!!! They lean on each other after their respective family members die and move in together after the war bc they're all each other has (at least, they think that). 

Dansy - Daphne x Pansy - Best friends to lovers, they were roommates, Slytherin girlfriends!!! Who knows how long they could have been together? And when Astoria dies, they fall apart but they have each other and their family.

Lovemander - Luna x Rolf - Perfect queerplatonic relationship! They both love magical creatures and could meet while tracking/studying the same creature! Would both be Ravenclaws but I like to believe that Rolf went to Beauxtabons. Adorable.
