I FINISHED IT :D :D :D
Yessssss I finally got my fCC JavaScript developer certification :')
Of course they decided to go ahead and release a whole new curriculum a few days before I wrapped this up, thus making this previous version now somewhat obsolete (great timing, folks), but I don't really mind – I was only doing it to learn the skills in any case.
In my final project I got to work with APIs again, which I hadn't done in ages and always enjoy, and I got some practice with asynchronous programming.
I'm so glad to have this DONE and finally be able to move on! Now the only question is, should I keep working my way through the old certifications or try out the new full-stack curriculum? I think I'll probably stick with the old individual certifications for now, because it looks like the new curriculum would take me back over HTML, CSS, and JS for the umpteenth time, and I am sick to death of them and would really prefer to move on to backend ASAP.

(New) Foundational C# on FreeCodeCamp!
FreeCodeCamp recently release a brand new course where you learn the fundamentals of C#, working alongside with Microsoft Learn!
I had a go because I use C# at work anyways so wanted test what it teaches! This is what I gathered on how to do the course:
Complete the course on Microsoft Learn (FreeCodeCamp will link you to the various places in each lesson)
Come back to FreeCodeCamp to answer the questions to complete the lesson, then eventually complete the mini modules it has
After completing ALL of the necessary lessons on Microsoft Learn, then you will get a Trophy badge-thingy and it has a link attached to it - get that link
Run back to FreeCodeCamp for them to verify that you've done it all
Once done, you will get a certificate in which you can add anywhere!
I'm only explaining this because I was super confused about the instructions at first! (´・ω・`)
I believe you don't get a certificate from Microsoft Learn so by doing the course via FreeCodeCamp you can get one as proof of learning it!
I will definitely be doing it, I love my name on certificates~! Hope this helps someone else too! Happy coding!

i think im gonna get back into freecodecamp! i havent relly had a lot of time to work on it recently because of school and stuff, but I'll try harder to make time haha.
that being said I don't think a step by step breakdown of each session i do is the most engaging thing to post. codeblr- do you guys have any thoughts about what you would want to read? just general observations about cs? keep with the freecodecamp stuff? other? please let me know.

Day 8 (10-16-23)
I really enjoyed coding today! I did a lot of little bits of coding for different things. My primary focus was the Tribute Page. I had forgotten that one of the requirements for the page is a link. Since the page is paying tribute to fictional character that I made, I decided to make a second page to link to. I spent some time yesterday coming up with ideas for a story that I will theme all of my freeCodeCamp certification projects around as I learn. I will also include additional personal projects to fill out my story as needed (like the secondary page I mentioned).
The purpose of this approach is to get me invested in learning to code. It's extremely difficult for me to be consistent, especially with self-managed learning. Learning is fun but it can be frustrating. Storytelling is also fun. So are secrets. I'm hoping that by slowly developing and revealing a secret story bit by bit in my projects, I can get myself invested in them enough to offset that frustration and keep myself coming back. As a bonus, having a central theme eliminates the problem of figuring out a theme or premise for each project individually, which is something I have struggled with in the past.
As an aside, I have thankfully improved my sleep schedule! I will keep working on that too.

More tweaking, more writing
Day 191 - May 14th, 12.024
I don't know if it is procrastinating, but today I pretty much just worked on a new resume, trying to follow this freeCodeCamp course on job hunting to hopefully improve my chances of getting one. Yes, I should probably be focusing on creating a portfolio project, but it doesn't hurt to do these small improvements also. And nonetheless, I'm kinda trying to get back into the flow and in my routine, after all the problems that happened these last 3 months.

I finished the next JavaScript certification project! :D
This one was a little bit more of a challenge than I'd expected it to be. Not the coding part, but the actual Roman numeral math conversion part. That system is rather irritating, haha. But now it's done, and I'm quite pleased with myself.

Learning C# w/ FreeCodeCamp + Microsoft | #1
Saturday 2nd September 2023
As being part of my to do list, I am studying towards the C# Fundamentals course on FreeCodeCamp! I made a post about it here! I am learning about just simple variables and maths operators and making a student grading project! Something I have done already during my studies but still a good refresher moment!

Devblog 7
Well hello there! This is an incredibly nonformal blog, and I'd like to tell you all a little about what the heck I've been up to.
First, what y'all came for! I started learning RPG Maker MV on 5/3/2025, and at the time of writing this on 5/4/2025, I have completed half the tutorial and applied what I've learned to make my first playable map in my officially announcing now game:
ELI.
[Pictured: A tan mouse in a flowered field with a sparse tree line at the top.]
I am super excited to share that my first playtest of the game with a beta tester went so well! This is clearly just the very first step of development, but it took me an entire hour to get that little guy to be playable as a character... Anyhow, I'm peached.
If you're curious about my break from coding and some life changes, feel free to read below!
I moved! In April, my apartment complex slapped a notice to pay higher rent or vacate, and to not get evicted, I had to pull that together really quickly. I'm moved and set back up at the new apartment, and did not have to pay $2k for that shoebox studio thank goodness.
My iPad was absolutely not functional for what I needed. So, after a paycheck, I was able to get an ethernet chord, and now my ancient computer is functional. It can only run steam in big picture mode because it uses less processing power, which was a pain to figure out; but now I have access to RPG Maker!
I took a big break, and I'm very glad I did. I've been learning the basics of HTML still, but my life was becoming disorganized, and that really needed my attention. But I'm back!

day 1
Not entirely sure why I'm calling this day 1, considering the fact that is by no means my first day of coding, but it's my first day of updating the blog about what I'm upto re: compsci, so I guess I'll take it.
Unsure whether I mentioned this in my intro post or not, but I'm currently making my way through FreeCodeCamp's courses. I'm still on the first one ("Responsive Web Design"), which is basically just HTML and CSS for beginners. I've done three of their practice-project things for that course so far, and today I did steps 1-11 of "Learn HTML Forms by Building a Registration Form," which is exactly what it sounds like. I'm trying to do at least 10 steps a day so I can stay consistent, and I'm really excited about this project, because after this I can do my first certification project.
I think the level of scaffolding that the Registration Form project provides is significantly less than previous projects, but I think that's good because it's allowed me to develop confidence in the knowledge that I've acquired throughout the past few weeks.
...and. That'll be all for today, Love y'all.

Just finished the freeCodeCamp course for Responsive Web Design and got my certificate!
I know it's not much but it's the first education related thing I've stuck to and finished, like, ever, so I'm kinda?? Happy???
